Only Fantasy owners in deeper formats should keep an eye on his status moving forward.

Analysis: Jefferson is not getting off to a good start for the Fantasy scoring period as he missed the Monday game against the Mavericks. He will look to return Wednesday against Brooklyn, but Fantasy owners will have to wait and see. Healthy or not, Jefferson does not see enough playing time to and is anything more than a low-end option in deeper Fantasy formats.

He went 1 for 4 from beyond the arc and did not attempt a free throw while playing in 24 minutes off the bench. Jefferson also posted three assists, two rebounds and a block in the victory.
Analysis: Jefferson has gone just 7 for 20 (35 percent) from the field through five games and is averaging 4.6 points. He should continue to see 15-25 minutes on a nightly basis, however, so keep an eye on his progress going forward. Jefferson was a solid option in Fantasy in his days in New Jersey but at this stage of his career, leave the 32-year-old for the deepest of formats.
News: Warriors forward Richard Jefferson was back on the floor on Wednesday against the Lakers, after missing the team's previous two games with a knee injury. Jefferson managed to play 19 minutes in the game, scoring seven points on 3 of 8 shooting, with just two rebounds and an assist in a 99-87 loss.
Analysis: There was some thought that Jefferson could miss the remainder of the season, however that clearly is not the case. Still, while he may continue to play, Jefferson has extremely limited Fantasy value, as he is averaging 10.0 points and just 3.0 rebounds per game, so don't consider him anything more than a low-end option in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Warriors forward Richard Jefferson was held out of Monday night's contest against the Spurs due to a knee injury. Jefferson has now missed two straight games with his injury and there has been no timetable announced for his return.
Analysis: Jefferson's injury could wind up costing him the season, so Fantasy owners will have to keep an eye on his status moving forward. News: Warriors forward Richard Jefferson will not play in Saturday's contest against the Clippers due to a knee injury, according to the team's official website. Jefferson had some swelling in his right knee following Golden State's loss to the Mavericks on Thursday night.
Analysis: Jefferson was scheduled to undergo an MRI on Friday, but the results were not made available. However, the Warriors seem concerned enough about his injury that they have already ruled him out for Saturday's tilt. Jefferson is averaging 10.0 points and 3.0 rebounds through eight games in April, so consider him a low-end option in deeper formats for the remainder of the season when healthy.
News: Warriors forward Richard Jefferson continues to give the team consistent production off the bench, as he put up 13 points on 5 of 7 shooting on Wednesday against the Timberwolves. Jefferson added three three-pointers, two rebounds, three assists and two steals to help the Warriors take down the Wolves, 97-94.
Analysis: Jefferson has averaged 9.9 points per game over his 12 games in Golden State, after averaging 9.2 per game in 41 with the Spurs. He has upped his production slightly, however he also has been seeing slightly more minutes. Jefferson has pretty much been the same player all season long, and that is one that is just a low-end Fantasy option in most formats.
News: Warriors forward Richard Jefferson was able to get his scoring back into double figures during Sunday night's contest against the Trail Blazers. Jefferson finished with 14 points in the 90-87 defeat, on 6 of 12 shooting from the field. He went 2 for 4 from downtown and also added two rebounds, one assist and one block to his stat line, while logging 35 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Jefferson continues to see extended run in Golden State and has actually consumed most of Dorell Wright's minutes. The 31-year-old is averaging 32 minutes per night thus far and is averaging 11 points and 4.0 rebounds in his six games with the Warriors. While those stats aren't going to turn many heads, as long as Jefferson continues to see 30-plus minutes per night, he will continue to have value in deeper formats. Fantasy owners should consider Jefferson a viable low-end option in those leagues heading into Week 14 (March 26-April 1).
News: Warriors forward Richard Jefferson struggled in his debut with Golden State during Saturday night's contest against the Jazz. Jefferson finished with nine points in the 99-92 loss, making just two of his 1r4 field-goal attempts. He went 1 of 7 from behind the arc and also added seven rebounds and three assists to his stat line, while logging 38 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Jefferson was off on Saturday night, but he should get plenty of minutes with his new club. The 31-year-old has a chance to start for coach Mark Jackson, but even if he doesn't it sounds like he will 30-plus minutes off the bench. He doesnt have a full grasp of what were trying to do offensively or defensively, but at the same time theres no secrets in this league,Jackson said. Basketball is basketball, so were excited to have him and were going to use him in a lot of different spots. (Its a) huge help to have another talented body. However, Jefferson has struggled to score this season, so owners should wait to see how he performs with the Warriors before getting him active.
News: Warriors forward Richard Jefferson is expected to be in the lineup for Saturday night's contest against the Jazz, reports the Contra Costa Times. Jefferson had to wait for Stephen Jackson to pass his physical before he could play for Golden State.
Analysis: Jefferson has the chance for an improvement with the Warriors since they have a much better offensive system for Fantasy owners than what he had in San Antonio. Keep an eye on what happens with Jefferson, and he could be someone to add off the waiver wire if he starts out playing well with his new team.
News: Newly acquired Warriors forward Richard Jefferson will not make his first appearance for the team on Friday against the Bucks, reports Comcast Sports Net. It would appear as if the team was unable to complete a physical for him in time, as it had been reported earlier in the day that the physical was the only thing standing in the way of his debut.
Analysis: Jefferson is moving to a potentially better situation for himself in Golden State, however his debut will have to wait until Saturday at Utah. Keep an eye on what happens with Jefferson, as he could be someone to add off the waiver wire if he starts out playing well with his new team.
News: The San Francisco Chronicle reports that if Richard Jefferson passes his physical Friday, which shouldn't be a problem, he'll play Friday night vs. Milwaukee. Jefferson was traded to the Warriors from San Antonio in the Stephen Jackson deal.
Analysis: Jefferson has the chance for an improvement with the Warriors since they have a much better offensive system for Fantasy owners than what he had in San Antonio. Keep an eye on what happens with Jefferson, and he could be someone to add off the waiver wire if he starts out playing well with his new team.
News: Yahoo! Sports reports that the Spurs traded Richard Jefferson to the Golden State Warriors for guard Stephen Jackson on Thursday before the NBA trade deadline. Jackson was a Spur from 2001 until the 2003 season when he signed with the Atlanta Hawks as a free agent. Tim Duncan has described the volatile Jackson as "the ultimate teammate." Jackson was just traded from the Bucks this week along with Andrew Bogut for Monta Ellis, Ekpe Udoh and Kwame Brown's expiring contract. The Warriors will also receive a first-round pick.
Analysis: This move could help Jefferson since he might be asked to score more. Still, he has a lot to prove before Fantasy owners can count on him, and the Warriors are going to give plenty of playing time to their younger players. Keep an eye on what happens with Jefferson, but he could improve with the trade to Golden State.
News: Spurs forward Richard Jefferson did not have one of his better games during Sunday night's contest against the Nuggets. Jefferson finished with seven points in the 99-94 victory, on 2 of 7 shooting from the field. He went 1 of 4 from downtown and also added two rebounds and two assists to his stat line, while logging 28 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Jefferson has now alternated good performances with underwhelming ones in each of his last five contests as he continued to be one of the more frustrating options out there. The 31-year-old is actually shooting a better percentage from behind the arc this year, but his overall shooting percentage is down nearly four points. Unless Jefferson starts some showing some consistency, he should be viewed merely as a low-end option in all formats moving forward.
News: San Antonio forward Richard Jefferson scored only five points during Monday's game at Utah, but hit one of the biggest shots of the night. Jefferson nailed a 3-pointer with 6.5 seconds left in the fourth quarter -- only his second field goal all night -- as the Spurs pulled out a 106-102 victory over the Jazz. "I haven't been shooting the ball particularly well of late ... and even passed up one shot with about a minute to go," said Jefferson, who also contributed two rebounds in 21 minutes of playing time. "But I was blessed the [3] went in."
Analysis: Jefferson's scoring continues to take a dive as he has been held to five points in each of his past two games. He has scored more than 10 points only twice in 10 games this month to drop his overall average to 9.6 points per game. He could see a slight bump in production with Manu Ginobili expected to miss two weeks because of injury. "When you have guys that go down, I think sometimes it helps guys refocus knowing you have less room for error," Jefferson said. Still, he should remain a low-end option in deeper Fantasy formats for now.
News: Spurs F Richard Jefferson was able to get his scoring back into double figures during Tuesday night's contest against the Pistons. Jefferson finished with 13 points in the 99-95 victory, on 4 of 7 shooting from the field. He went 1 of 3 from downtown and also chipped in with two rebounds, while logging 33 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Jefferson was finally able to score in double figures Tuesday night, after failing to do so over his previous six contests. The veteran's production has been extremely inconsistent this season, making it tough to leave him active for long stretches in most formats. Consider Jefferson merely a low-end option in deeper formats at this point in the season.
News: Spurs F Richard Jeffersons slow start to the month of February continued on Wednesday, as he failed to make a single field goal attempt in 28 minutes against the Sixers. Jefferson went 0 of 4 from the field and made just a single free throw, though he did grab six rebounds in the Spurs 100-90 win.
Analysis: Through five February games, Jefferson is averaging just 5.6 points per game on 35.5 percent shooting. At this point, Fantasy owners probably shouldnt be relying on Jefferson, as he was scoring just 10.7 points per game in January when he was playing better. He is just a low-end Fantasy option at best right now, and he should be kept in reserves while hes struggling.
News: Spurs forward Richard Jefferson has started February off slow as he's posted pretty much identical lines in both games. He scored seven points on Thursday and six on Wednesday -- both San Antonio wins. Jefferson shot 3 for 7 from the field in both contests, but hit a 3-pointer against the Hornets on Thursday. The veteran added three rebounds and a steal in his 24 minutes on the court.
Analysis: Jefferson continues his inconsistent play, which keeps Fantasy owners frustrated. He's averaging 9.6 points, 4.2 boards and 1.2 assists per game over his last five games. The veteran is settling for the outside shot more and more and isn't drawing contact and getting to the foul line. He's gone to the line three times over the last five contests and missed them all. He's shooting a career-low 53.8 percent at the charity stripe this season, 20 points lower than his previous lowest. Fantasy owners should continue to view Jefferson as a low-end forward option in deeper formats at this stage of his career.
News: Spurs F Richard Jefferson came out of the gates red hot on Friday, scoring 10 points in the first eight minutes of the game against the Timberwolves. However, over the course of his final 29 minutes of playing time, he was unable to add even a single point, finishing with 10 points as the Spurs fell 87-79. Jefferson also blocked a shot and picked up an assist in that active first quarter, the only ones he would have in the game. He also finished with four rebounds.
Analysis: Jefferson has been very up and down this season, scoring in double figures in three of his last six games while averaging just over nine points per game in that time span. He has had long stretches of excellent play followed by disappearances, so his overall record is unimpressive. He is currently averaging 10.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Jefferson was once an elite option, but at this point, his inconsistency make him no more than a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Spurs F Richard Jefferson's shooting struggles continued during Tuesday night's contest against the Heat. Jefferson failed to score in the 120-98 defeat, missing all three of his shots from the field. All three of his shots came from behind the arc, although he did chip in with five assists, two rebounds and a steal, while logging 23 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Jefferson has been mired in a shooting slump lately, which has affected his scoring. The veteran has made just nine of his last 33 attempts from the field (27 percent) and is averaging just 6.4 points per game over that stretch. While Jefferson's track record suggests it should only be a matter of time before he gets back on track, owners may want to leave him on the bench until he turns things around.
News: San Antonio SF Richard Jefferson hit three 3-pointers on Tuesday night in a closely-contested loss at Milwaukee. Jefferson attempted to get the better of one of his former teams on Tuesday as he went 4 for 9 from the field overall to score 12 points. He added two rebounds and three assists with a block over 34 minutes on the floor.
Analysis: Jefferson has been a 3-point specialist in the early going for the Spurs. The veteran has hit 19 3-pointers in his last five games and is shooting over 60 percent from downtown over that stretch. Jefferson does not contribute in many other Fantasy-relevant areas, but his 3-point shooting has made him worth using in most deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Spurs SF Richard Jefferson returned to double figures in scoring on Monday at Minnesota during a loss to the Wolves. Jefferson shot 6 of 10 from the field and hit four 3-pointers to score 16 points in the game against Minnesota. He added two rebounds over 33 minutes. Jefferson had totaled 13 points in the previous two games on 5 of 17 shooting.
Analysis: Jefferson is averaging 12.4 points per game overall this season, but he's been all over the map. He's scored as low as five points in a game and as high as 19 points and his norm will fall somewhere in between. Jefferson has connected on 13 3-point field goals already and that ranks him fourth in the NBA among forwards. If your Fantasy team needs help in that department, Jefferson is an excellent choice. That said, he hasn't done much of anything else and is considered just a low-end Fantasy forward for deeper formats.
News: Spurs F Richard Jefferson was extremely efficient in San Antonios 115-90 victory over the Clippers on Wednesday night. He scored 19 points on eight-of-nine shooting, and only turned the ball over twice. He also shot three-of-four from three-point range, as he was one of six Spurs to score in double figures as the Spurs blew the Clippers out.
Analysis: Jefferson stepped up his three-point shooting last season as the Spurs used him more as a spot-up shooter, and he has carried that over to 2011-12, shooting six-of-11 through two games. While he isnt going to continue shooting better than 50 percent from three, Jefferson has certainly become a very useful shooter. He averaged just 11 points-per game last season, but looks ready and able to top that so far this year. Consider him a low-end forward option in all Fantasy formats moving forward.
News: While reports had surfaced last week saying that the Spurs were planning on using the amnesty clause to waive F Richard Jefferson, the San Antonio News-Express is reporting that it appears that Jefferson will remain with the team. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich made it seem as if he was planning on proceeding with Jefferson on the roster. In an interview with the News-Express, Popovich said Its kind of interesting, everybodys always asking about amnesty, and Im always wondering, Why Richard? As if we didnt advance in the playoffs because of Richard. The Spurs have until Friday to make a decision about the 31-year old's future with the team, at least if they are planning on using the amnesty clause.
Analysis: Jefferson did show off a career best three-point shot in 2010-11, hitting .440 on 3.8 attempts per game. There is likely big role for Jefferson to produce on a team desperate for scoring, however San Antonio is not that team, so his Fantasy value for 2011-12 will depend largely on whether he does end up falling outside of the Spurs plans. Keep an eye on his status, as he could emerge as a mid-round selection on Draft Day if he ends up in the right place, but if he does stay in San Antonio, he would likely be worth just a late-round pick.
News: The Spurs have decided to clear F Richard Jeffersons contract off their books using the amnesty clause contained in the new collective bargaining agreement. Jefferson has three years, $30 million remaining on his contract, so the Spurs have decided to bite the bullet and pay him to get his salary off their cap. Jefferson is coming off a season in which he scored 11 points, with 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
Analysis: Jefferson will almost certainly catch on with another team, most likely one rebuilding and under the salary cap, as teams under the cap will have first dibs on amnestied players. Jefferson is only 31, and did show off a career best three-point shot in 2010-11, hitting .440 on 3.8 attempts per game. There is likely still a spot for Jefferson to produce on a team desperate for scoring, however his Fantasy value for 2011-12 will depend largely on where he ends up. Keep an eye on his status, as he could emerge as a mid-round selection on Draft Day if he ends up in the right place.
News: Statistically speaking, Spurs forward Richard Jefferson had his worst season since his rookie year with the Nets. Jefferson averaged 11.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game during the regular season. All three are on the low-end for his career, while his lone highlight for the year was his 44 percent shooting from beyond the 3-point arc. Since joining the Spurs, Jefferson has never developed into the scoring option they wanted or thought they were getting.
Analysis: Jefferson is a durable player, as he's played in at least 81 games for four straight years. But since joining the Spurs, his point totals have dropped substantially. Granted his role is much different in San Antonio than it was in New Jersey and Milwaukee, but points are a big factor i Fantasy leagues. Jefferson finished as the 58th ranked forward eligible player in terms of scoring in standard CBSSports.com leagues. He's under contract and will be in San Antonio next year, but unless he takes on a bigger role, Jefferson will only be worth taking in the later rounds on Draft Day this fall.
News: San Antonio forward Richard Jefferson registered 13 points and three rebounds in the Spurs' 111-104 loss to Memphis on Sunday. Jefferson sank 4 of 10 attempts from the field -- three from 3-point range -- to post his highest-scoring total since Feb. 12 at Washington (14). The veteran has now tallied three treys in back-to-back games for just the third time this season and is shooting 42.9 percent overall from beyond the arc. Jefferson added two assists while logging 36 minutes -- his most this month.
Analysis: Jefferson has held back from shooting in recent weeks, but attempted 10 shots for the first time since Feb. 3 -- a span of 23 games. He has come close to surpassing the mark and alternated between eight and seven shots in his last four games before Sunday's outing. While he isn't a reliable scoring option anymore -- he'll likely finish with a career low in points per game this season (minimum 10 games started) -- Jefferson makes for a decent option in deeper Fantasy leagues for the occasional strong game.
News: Spurs forward Richard Jefferson was back in action for Saturday's game against the Rockets after missing Friday's game for personal reasons. Jefferson scored 10 points in the 115-107 win over Houston on 3 of 5 shooting from the field. He went a perfect 4 of 4 at the charity stripe and also chipped in with four rebounds, one assist and block while logging 34 minutes of game action.
Analysis: After a getting off to a hot start in the beginning of the year, Jefferson has cooled off quite considerably. He is averaging just 8.5 points and 2.3 rebounds over his last five contests and has only attempted an average of 5.3 shots over that stretch. That is well below the 8.2 attempts he averaged this season, but with the Spurs having some many pieces that can score, its tough to be a volume shooter in their system. Unless Jefferson sees a major spike in production, Fantasy owners should consider the veteran nothing more than a low-end option at this point of the season.
News: San Antonio veteran forward Richard Jefferson missed Friday's game against the Kings due to a personal matter. He is expected to rejoin the team in Houston on Saturday.
Analysis: Jefferson has slowed down a bit over the last 10 games, averaging just 7.6 points per game over the span. He averages over 11 points per game for the season, though his rebound numbers are below normal as well. Since he gets an extra day off, though the circumstances are unusual, Jefferson should continue his low-end play once he returns Saturday against the Rockets. Continue to roll with him if you normally do once he's back in uniform.
News: After his lowest scoring month of the season in February (9.4 points per game), San Antonio veteran forward Richard Jefferson has began March in the same fashion. He continued to differ to his teammates in Wednesday's win over the Cavaliers, taking less than five shots for the third straight game. Jefferson shot 2 of 4 from the floor, including 1 of 2 from beyond the arc on his way to seven points. He added four rebounds and a pair of assists in 27 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Jefferson has scored seven points in each of his last two games, failing to reach double-figures in four straight and in seven of the last 10. Even with Tony Parker out of the lineup, he is not picking up the scoring slack. His decline in point production can be linked to the strong play off of the Spurs bench and the fact that they are ahead in nearly every game in the fourth quarter. Why would the team play its starters with a solid lead with the game in hand? San Antonio continues to roll, picking up its 50th win on Wednesday. We don't foresee much changing for the Spurs in the short term, so Fantasy owners might want to utilize someone else in Jefferson's spot in the mean time.
News: San Antonio veteran forward Richard Jefferson has scored in double figures in two of his last three games, and has started to shoot the ball better as well. In the last game before the All-Star break, Jefferson scored 12 points on a 4-for-5 shooting display. He made his lone shot from beyond the 3-point arc and connected on 3 of his 7 foul shots. Despite his nice outing, the Spurs would still lose to the Bulls, 109-99, on Thursday. Jefferson added three rebounds and two assists in his 36 minutes of action.
Analysis: Jefferson had back-to-back outings where he scored a total of six points and shot 2 for 10 from the field. Since then, the veteran's last three have been better. He's not tearing up the stat sheet, but he's contributing and shooting the ball well. Over his last five games, Jefferson is averaging 7.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists per outing. Fantasy owners in deeper leagues may want to give Jefferson a few more games to see if he's really out of his shooting funk. Perhaps a couple of days off will get him back on track. Jefferson should be viewed as a low-end forward option in deeper formats at this stage of his career.
News: Spurs forward Richard Jefferson has had some trouble finding the range lately, going a combined 2 for 10 from the field the past two games. On Friday, Jefferson shot 1 for 8 -- going 1 for 4 from downtown -- finishing with just three points. He added four rebounds in his 25 minutes on the court. San Antonio would lose to the 76ers, 77-71.
Analysis: Jefferson seemed like he was back on track, but with six total points his last two games is just plain bad. The veteran forward can be a useful in deeper Fantasy formats, but his play has been streaky this season. Over his last five games, Jefferson is averaging 10.2 points and 2.4 boards per outing. Continue to monitor his play as he could hurt a Fantasy team more than help it right now.
News: Spurs forward Richard Jefferson has picked up his scoring over his last five games, as he's averaging 15.2 points per contest. He would go 6 for 8 from the field and 3 for 5 from downtown in Friday's 113-100 win over the Kings. Jefferson added three rebounds, a steal, a block and an assist in his 28 minutes of action. He was a catalyst for the Spurs as he ignited a 9-0 third-quarter run at the 8:33 mark, building the Spurs' lead to 74-50. Three minutes later from nearly the exact spot, Jefferson was knocked to the floor after making another 3-pointer. He added a free throw for a four-point play and a 82-57 Spurs lead.
Analysis: This was the second game in as many nights for the Spurs, so Jefferson some of the other veterans got their minutes reduced a bit. Regardless, Jefferson was able to produce a solid outing and showed off yet another good shooting display. Over his last five games he's shooting 63.8 percent from the field (30 for 47) and has converted 12 of his 23 shots from downtown. His scoring is up just three points per contest over his season totals, but those are enough to garner a bit more Fantasy attention. He seems to be out of his shooting slump and is worth using in deeper formats heading into Week 16 (Feb. 7-13).
News: San Antonio forward Richard Jefferson recorded 18 points and three rebounds in the Spurs' 108-95 victory over Houston on Saturday night. Jefferson turned in a near-perfect night from the field and finished 7 for 8, including 2 of 3 from 3-point range. It was only the second time this month he has tallied 50 percent of his shots in back-to-back games. Jefferson added an assist for the fourth consecutive games as San Antonio extended its home winning streak to 18 games.
Analysis: Jefferson seems to have finally busted out of a prolonged slump as he finished with his highest-scoring total since Dec. 10 against Atlanta (18). The veteran forward has reached double figures in his last two games after mustering single digits in his previous four outings. In his last two games, Jefferson has connected on 13 of his 20 shots, including 4 of 9 from 3-point range. He could be finally turning his production around and should be viewed as a mid-range Fantasy option at forward.
News: San Antonio forward Richard Jefferson scored just six points and was benched for most of the first half in the Spurs' 101-92 loss to New York on Friday night. Jefferson logged just 26 minutes and shot 3 for 4 from the field as he completed the fifth consecutive game without surpassing 10 points. Gary Neal received most of the playing time in place of Jefferson, who tallied seven rebounds.
Analysis: Jefferson was saddled with three fouls early in the first half which limited his play, but his shooting woes persist. He is averaging just 5.0 points in his last five games as he evolves into a role player with San Antonio. It's doubtful Jefferson loses his spot in the starting lineup but the Spurs would certainly like his scoring production to increase. He is worth using in deeper Fantasy formats but cannot be relied on in shallow leagues with averages of 12.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game this season. Consider him a mid-range Fantasy option at forward.
News: Spurs forward Richard Jefferson continues to struggle to find the basket. He shot 1 for 4 on Wednesday against Toronto, missing both his 3-point attempts. He finished the game with two points, four rebounds and two turnovers. The Spurs would go on to win the game 104-95.
Analysis: Jefferson has scored in double figures just twice over his last five games, and has gone 10 for 32 from the field over that span. He's averaging 7.2 points, 4.4 boards and 1.8 assists over those games. The veteran forward is far from a big-time scoring option that he was once and doesn't really do much in San Antonio. He's a role player and right now his role is not helping out Fantasy owners. When he's producing Jefferson is worth using in deeper Fantasy formats, but right now he should remained on the bench. Once he comes out of this slump, Jefferson will be a recommended forward option in deeper leagues.
News: Spurs forward Richard Jefferson struggled to find his shot on Wednesday night, one night after he scored 17 points. Jefferson would miss all five of his shots -- including four from downtown -- and be held scoreless for the first time this year. He would add three assists, one steal and six rebounds in his 28 minutes on the court. San Antonio wouldn't need Jefferson to post big numbers though as they beat Milwaukee 91-84.
Analysis: Jefferson is averaging 9.6 points, 3.8 boards and 2.4 assists per game over his last five contests. The veteran can have big scoring performances, but is more of role player at this stage of his career. He's shooting 41.5 percent from the field over his last five outings. Fantasy owners should consider Jefferson a low-end forward option in deeper leagues at this time.
News: Spurs SF Richard Jefferson saw a slight boost in scoring on Tuesday night as San Antonio easily handled the Wolves in Minnesota. Jefferson shot 5 of 10 from the field and went 3 for 4 from deep to score 17 points. He added five rebounds and four assists in the performance. His previous high in scoring over his last five games was 14 points on Jan. 5 at Boston.
Analysis: Jefferson is averaging 13.2 points per game on the year and just 12.2 over his last five games despite the 17 he put up against Minnesota. Outside of light scoring and 3-point shooting, Jefferson has really put up low-end figures elsewhere and really should be active only in deeper formats right now.
News: Spurs forward Richard Jefferson's scoring struggles continued in Tuesday's 128-115 loss to the Knicks. Jefferson scored 13 points in the contest on 5 of 8 shooting from the field. He was 1 of 3 from downtown and also chipped in with three rebounds and an assist in 35 minutes.
Analysis: Jefferson got off to a red-hot start this season, but has cooled off considerably since. He is averaging just 9.6 points and 5.4 rebounds over his last five contests and is shooting 43 percent from the field over that stretch. He is still a decent source for 3-pointers and field goal percentage, but should only be starting in deeper leagues until he gets back on track.
News: Spurs forward Richard Jefferson hit just 30 percent of his shots on Thursday night against the Mavericks. He went 1 for 4 from downtown and missed both his foul shots. He finished with seven points, four rebounds and one assist in his 31 minutes of action. San Antonio would hold on for the 99-93 win over Dallas on Thursday.
Analysis: Jefferson had put some good games together for the Spurs, but has since come back to the ground level. He's averaging just 10.6 points and 6.0 rebounds over his last five games. The veteran is not the player he was in New Jersey, but has seen his Fantasy value peak at certain times this season. For now, Jefferson is just a low-end forward in deeper leagues.
News: San Antonio forward Richard Jefferson has been playing consistent basketball for the Spurs this year and his outing on Wednesday was no different. He scored 16 points and grabbed four rebounds in his 36 minutes of action. He shot 7 for 12 from the field -- going 2 for 4 from downtown -- and added a steal, a block and an assist. His block came late in the game, stopping a potential rally by Denver.
Analysis: Jefferson is averaging 13.8 points, 5.4 boards and 1.8 assists over his last five outings. He's shooting 50 percent from the field, 43 percent from downtown and 67 percent from the charity stripe. The veteran forward isn't the same player he used to be, but is still worth using in most Fantasy formats. Consider him a low-end starter in deeper leagues.
News: San Antonio forward Richard Jefferson tallied 13 points in the Spurs' 113-112 triumph over Denver on Thursday night. Jefferson connected on 3 of his 4 attempts from 3-point range and finished 4 of his 6 for the night from the field. He added three assists and two rebounds while working within foul trouble during the night.
Analysis: Jefferson has been plagued by inconsistency this season and trudged to an average of 14.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game for San Antonio. He is still firing away from 3-point range and getting most of his points from there. Nine of Jefferson's 13 points in Thursday's game came from long range. He'll have decent rebounding nights but Fantasy owners should not expect anything more than his season average in boards. Consider Jefferson a low-end No. 3 forward with increased value in deeper leagues.
News: Spurs forward Richard Jefferson is finding the range from downtown. He's gone 15 for 28 from behind the arc over his last five games. He capped that span off with a 5-for-6 outing on Friday against Atlanta. Jefferson scored 18 points and grabbed four rebounds. He shot 6 for 8 from the floor and made one foul shot. He added one assists, one steal and a block in his 35 minutes on the court. His efforts helped San Antonio to a 108-92 win.
Analysis: Jefferson is definitely heating up from downtown, but over his last five games he's averaging just 13.8 points. The reason being is he can't hit anything in front of the 3-point line. In those games he's gone 10 for 24 in all 2-point shots. He's also grabbing 5.8 boards and dishing out 1.2 assists in those five games. Jefferson is rejuvenated this year, which is making him a steal in Fantasy drafts. His play right now is worthy of a No. 4 Fantasy forward in most formats.
News: Spurs F Richard Jefferson collected his first double-double of the year on Friday night against the Timberwolves. He scored 15 points and hauled in 10 rebounds in the 107-101 win. He shot 5 of 13 from the field, including 2 for 6 from downtown, and made 3 of 4 free throws. Jefferson, who played 36 minutes, also chipped in with two blocks, an assist and a steal in the victory.
Analysis: Jefferson has picked it up of late and is averaging 14.7 points with six rebounds over his last five games. His numbers are up all around, after a sub-par 2009-10 campaign, and he should be able to keep him his production heading into the upcoming scoring period. With Golden State, Atlanta and Portland up on the schedule in Week 7 (Dec. 6-12), continue to view Jefferson as a low-end No. 3/high-end No. 4 Fantasy forward in most leagues.
News: Spurs forward Richard Jefferson shot 4 of 9 from the field and finished with 12 points in Tuesday's 118-98 win over the Warriors. Jefferson went 0 for 3 from downtown and finished with four rebounds and two assists. He is averaging just 12 points over his last five games.
Analysis: After getting off to a hot start this season, Jefferson has been a bit inconsistent of late. His scoring numbers have become very erratic over his past seven games and he has not posted a 20-point performance since Nov. 11. Hopefully he can get himself back on track before too long. Consider him a No.3/4 Fantasy forward at this point.
News: Spurs forward Richard Jefferson had a solid game in San Antonio's overtime victory over Minnesota on Wednesday. Jefferson shot 6 for 15 from the field and went just 1 for 5 from 3-point range but still scored 19 points in 38 minutes. He grabbed four rebounds and dished out two assists. Jefferson was the team's second-leading scorer behind Manu Ginobili in the game as Tim Duncan managed just nine points.
Analysis: Jefferson has suffered from poor shooting at times and when that happens, his numbers can look ugly. He's not consistent. Despite averaging almost 16 ppg on the year, Jefferson is only getting 12.8 over his last five games, including Wednesday's 19-point effort. For now, we'll chalk these erratic performances off as just a speed bump as he continues to see around 35 minutes per game with a good amount of shots, including a heavy workload from beyond the arc. He is a No. 3/4 forward for now in standard formats.
News: Spurs F Richard Jefferson was held to just 3 for 10 shooting from the field. He scored 12 points with five rebounds and an assist. Jefferson's numbers have become very inconsistent over the last week. He scored 22 points on Nov. 10, 10 points on Nov. 13 and 18 points on Nov. 14 before Wednesday's 12-point effort.
Analysis: Jefferson got off to a red-hot start this season and signs pointed to a possible resurgence. For now, we'll chalk these erratic performances off as just a speed bump as he continues to see around 35 minuets per game with a good amount of shots, including a heavy workload from beyond the arc. He is a No. 3/4 forward for now in standard formats.
News: After scoring just six points in his previous game at Charlotte, Spurs forward Richard Jefferson regrouped and had a big night against the Clippers Wednesday. Jefferson scored 22 points over 36 minutes and shot 6 of 11 from the field. Jefferson nailed four 3-pointers over six attempts and added two steals, a block, three rebounds and an assist.
Analysis: Jefferson has been scoring well this season and the six-point affair should be considered just an outlier. He's still averaging 19.2 points per game over his last five contests, including the six-point effort. Jefferson has 14 3-pointers in his last five games and is looking more and more like a must-start Fantasy option again.
News: Spurs F Richard Jefferson continued his hot start to the season on Wednesday night in Phoenix. He scored a season-high 28 points off 9 for 13 shooting from the field. He was 4 for 5 from beyond the arc and 6 for 6 from the foul line. Jefferson has averaged 20.0 points per game through the first four games of the season.
Analysis: Jefferson, coming off a very unproductive first year with the Spurs, is playing a much more active role early on for San Antonio. He is getting around 30 minutes per game and double-digit shot attempts, including a heavy workload from beyond the arc. Jefferson averaged just 12.3 points per game, but is just a year removed from averaging 19.6 points per game and is highly capable of putting up these numbers all year.
News: Spurs F Richard Jefferson had another solid performance on Saturday in a loss to the Hornets. He scored 18 points on 7 of 11 shooting, including 1 of 4 from downtown. Jefferson also filled the stat sheet with four rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot in 33 minutes.
Analysis: 10 of Jefferson's points came in the fourth quarter, a good sign for his role on this team. He seemed to get lost in the fourth quarter during most of last season's games. Jefferson has all of the skills to be an all-around contributor and should be able to score over 1,000 points as long as he stays healthy and involved in the Spurs offense. He is just a season removed from averaging 19.6 points per game for Milwaukee and has the tools to contribute under the right condition. Consider Jefferson a low-end option in most formats at this point with obvious room to grow.
News: Spurs F Richard Jefferson had a solid performance in the season opener against the Pacers on Wednesday night. He scored 16 points on 4 of 6 shooting in the 122-109 win. Jefferson went 1 for 2 from downtown and made 7 of 10 free throws while playing 21 minutes. He also hauled in two rebounds, two assists and a steal in the victory.
Analysis: Jefferson averaged just 12.3 points per game lats season but could bust out of the slump if Wednesday's season opener is any indication of things to come. He has all of the skills to be an all-around contributor and should be able to score over 1,000 points as long as he stays healthy and involved in the Spurs offense. He is just a season removed from averaging 19.6 points per game for Milwaukee and has the tools to contribute under the right condition. Consider Jefferson a low-end option in most formats at this point with obvious room to grow.
News: The San Antonio Express News reports that Richard Jefferson was one of several veterans who stayed in San Antonio when the Spurs traveled to Pittsburgh for a preseason game against the Cavaliers. The move was made in order to give him a few extra days of rest.
Analysis: Jefferson is averaging 8.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists over three preseason games. He is coming off his worst NBA season as a full-fledged starter in what was a very shaky first year with the Spurs and that has caused his Fantasy stock to drop tremendously. However, he is just a season removed from averaging 19.6 points per game for Milwaukee and has the tools to contribute under the right condition. Expect coach Popovich to try to get a lot more out of him in Year No. 2 with San Antonio.
News: Spurs F Richard Jefferson got some work in during Saturday's preseason game against the Heat. He scored 11 points in just under 21 minutes on 3 of 7 shooting. He missed his only 3-point attempt and went 5 for 6 from the free-throw line in the 90-73 win. Jefferson also chipped in with five rebounds, two assists and a steal in the victory.
Analysis: Jefferson, who averaged just 12.3 points, 2 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game for the Spurs in 2009-10, resigned with San Antonio in the offseason and will hopefully be able to put up better numbers this year. He is no longer the 20-point scorer he was in his younger days but coach Gregg Popovich believes in his abilities and has stood by the 30-year-old. Jefferson won't put up a ton of points for Fantasy owners, but will be a nice reserve player to have. Consider drafting him in the later rounds in all leagues.
News:Richard Jefferson is returning to the San Antonio Spurs after opting out of his old contract that would have paid him $15 million next season. The Spurs announced Wednesday they have re-signed the veteran swingman. Terms were not disclosed.
Analysis: Jefferson was willing to part with his bloated deal that expired next summer for longer-term security. Jefferson's 12.3 scoring average last season was the lowest since his rookie year, though coach Gregg Popovich has stood by him. He's not likely to average 20-plus points like he did in his glory days with the Nets, but he shouldn't be as bad as he showed last season. Plan on drafting Jefferson with a late-round pick in all leagues.
News: The Richard Jefferson experiment in San Antonio was a failure in Year 1 in 2009-10, but hopefully Year 2 could be better -- if Jefferson stays with the Spurs. Jefferson has an early termination option in his contract, but he's not likely to leave San Antonio since his value is low on the open market. Jefferson had a dismal year in San Antonio, averaging just 12.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists. It was his lowest stats in points and assists since his rookie year in 2001 with New Jersey when he averaged 9.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
Analysis: Jefferson should rebound in his second year in San Antonio since another offseason of work with the Spurs should make him better. San Antonio is entering a transition phase with Tim Duncan (34) and Manu Ginobili (33) getting older, and Jefferson (29) can help with an infusion of youth along with Tony Parker, George Hill and DeJuan Blair. We expect Jefferson's Fantasy value to improve in 2010-11, and he should return to a low-end starting option in the majority of formats. He's not likely to average 20-plus points like he did in his glory days with the Nets, but he shouldn't be as bad as he showed last season. Plan on drafting Jefferson with a late-round pick in all leagues, and the only thing to monitor with him this offseason is what happens with his contract. But, as we said, we expect him to stay with the Spurs.
News: Spurs F Jason Richardson had 14 points with six rebounds and three assists in Sunday's game at the Lakers. He is averaging 14.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists in his last five games.
Analysis: Jefferson is seeing a chance for more offensive touches with Tony Parker sidelined with an injury. He is line for a strong finish with the Spurs having no breathing room to rest players as they fight for playoff positioning. Despite a down year by his standards, Jefferson is currently in a situation to help Fantasy owners as a solid No. 3 forward.
News: Spurs forward Richard Jefferson had 19 points, two rebounds, two assists and three blocks Wednesday night against Houston. He has now scored at least 16 points in his past four games and is averaging 14.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists in his past five outings.
Analysis: Jefferson has played much better since Tony Parker (hand) went down, and hopefully he can close the season strong. Consider Jefferson a No. 3 Fantasy forward while he's playing at this level.
News: Spurs F Richard Jefferson scored 10 of his 16 points in the first quarter of Monday's loss to the Spurs. Jefferson shot 5 of 11 from the floor while adding five assists, five rebounds a block in 38 minutes. He has now scored 16 points in three straight games.
Analysis: Jefferson has averaged 11.8 points and 5.8 rebounds over his last five games. With the Spurs suffering some key injuries to Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker, Jefferson could see a slight Fantasy boost because he does have the ability to score and the Spurs will need someone to fill in for their superstars. If he is able to produce, Jefferson can be viewed as low-end No. 4 Fantasy forward.
News: Bulls F Richard Jefferson had just six points to go with six rebounds and no assists in Wednesday's game against the Lakers. He has scored just 11 points in his last two games.
Analysis: Jefferson has cooled off after a very good run in mid-March. He is still getting 30-plus minutes per game and should see around 10 field-goal attempts per contests, but he remains a low-end option in Fantasy due to his inconsistency.
News: For the fifth straight game, Spurs F Richard Jefferson scored in double figures, putting up 12 points against the Hawks on Sunday. Jefferson shot 5 of 9 from the floor while adding eight rebounds and four assists. He also added a block and a steal in 44 minutes.
Analysis: Jefferson has stepped his game up in Tony Parker's absence, averaging 17.2 points and 6.6 points rebounds per game over his last five contests. With the Spurs playing four games during Fantasy Week 22 (March 22-28), Jefferson makes for a quality option in all formats as long as he is hot.
News: Spurs forward Richard Jefferson, who had 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists Tuesday night at Miami, is starting to play well of late. This was his third game in a row with double figures in scoring, and he's trying to rebound from a poor start this year, his first in San Antonio. "It's been an interesting season for me thus far," Jefferson said in an interview with CBSSports.com. "I'm feeling more and more comfortable out there." Added Spurs coach Gregg Popovich: "I think he's starting to understand the system better. He's fitting in with other people where he deferred way too much at times. Now he's aggressive on both ends of the court. He's rebounding at one end, and at the other end he's attacking the hoop and doing things he was reticent to do early in the year."
Analysis: This is the Jefferson that Fantasy owners were hoping for when he joined the Spurs. He has played well since Tony Parker (hand) was injured, and hopefully this production will continue for the rest of the season since Parker is out until the start of the playoffs. Consider Jefferson a quality Fantasy option in all leagues while he's playing at this level.
News: Spurs guard Richard Jefferson scored 15 points on Tuesday in a win over the Heat in Miami. Jefferson shot 5 for 8 from the field and hit the lone 3-pointer he attempted. He added eight rebounds, three assists and a block.
Analysis: Jefferson has scored 19, 18 and 15 points, respectively, in his last three games since failing to record a single point for the first time since Jan. 8 2006 back on March 10 against the Knicks. He was clearly affected in a positive way by his failure to score and has done everything in his power to turn that around. If he keeps playing like he has in his last three contests, Jefferson should immediately become viable in most 12-team and deeper leagues again.
News:Richard Jefferson was scoreless in 18 minutes off the bench Wednesday against the Knicks, the first time he has not scored in a game since Jan. 8 2006, when he played just two minutes in a New Jersey win.
Analysis: Jefferson, getting 26.8 minutes per game over his last five, is only managing 6.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and an assist per night over that span. He's really struggling right now and is barely worth using in 12-team leagues while he's playing this poorly.
News: Spurs F Richard Jefferson had 20 points with five assists and four rebounds Sunday afternoon against Phoenix. It was his third straight game coming off the bench.
Analysis: Jefferson posted back-to-back solid lines to wrap up the week against Houston and Phoenix. He scored 15 points with seven boards and two assists against the Rockets and looks comfortable in a bench role. Even off the bench, though, his minutes are not wavering and he continues to see 30-plus minutes per game. He has had a down year by his standards, but can still be useful as a No. 3 or 4 forward down the stretch.
News: Spurs SF Richard Jefferson fell just short of a double-double on Wednesday, finishing with nine points and nine rebounds against the Thunder. In 32 minutes, he shot 3 of 9 from the field, missing his only 3-point attempt.
Analysis: Jefferson is averaging a season-low 9.6 points in February. There just aren't enough shots to be taken in San Antonio (9.8 a game on the season), thus he is no longer the scorer he once was. He is at best a No. 4 Fantasy forward in deeper leagues.
News: Spurs F Richard Jefferson scored 14 points Thursday night in Denver, shooting 5 of 9 from the field. It was his first game in double figures in three games.
Analysis: Jefferson's numbers are down across the board due to the system he plays in for the Spurs. He is no longer a primary option and has become more of a role player and this is the role Fantasy owners should expect him to play while players like Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili are all healthy. Jefferson is now a No. 4 forward option in standard leagues.
News: Spurs forward Richard Jefferson had nine points, two rebounds and two assists Monday night at the Lakers. Jefferson has now gone three games in a row without reaching double figures in points. He is averaging 8.5 points in four games in February, which is his lowest-scoring month this season. His past two months (10.9 points in January) have been the worst of the season.
Analysis: Jefferson is clearly heading in the wrong direction, and his production with the Spurs has taken a huge hit since joining the team this season. Keep Jefferson reserved in all leagues while he's playing at this level and hope he can turn things around following the All-Star break.
News: Spurs F Richard Jefferson had 12 points, five rebounds and two assists in Sunday's game against Denver. He is averaging 10.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists over his last five games.
Analysis: RJ is not going to put up the numbers he has put up in his career in New Jersey and even last year in Milwaukee due to the many options the Spurs have on their team. With that said, he can still be a useful low-end starter in standard Fantasy leagues for consistent double-digit scoring and the fact that he'll get good playing time on a regular basis.
News: Spurs SF Richard Jefferson continues to underwhelm despite starting for San Antonio. He finished with a pedestrian 11 points, five rebounds and three assists against the Hawks on Wednesday. In 32 minutes he took only nine shots, sinking five of them, missing both attempts from downtown.
Analysis: Jefferson's production continues to slide as the season goes on. In the month of January his averages have dipped to 10.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists. He is no longer a starting Fantasy option, but can be a useful stopgap in most leagues.
News: Spurs SF Richard Jefferson returned to action after missing Monday's game with back issues. Jefferson scored 12 points over 27 minutes against Utah Wednesday and he added two blocks and a steal.
Analysis: Jefferson is going to need some time to get his rhythm back and get fully 100 percent healthy again. He's averaging just nine points per game and shooting poorly over his last four contests as he's dealt with the nagging back problems. Jefferson should be reserved everywhere but the deepest of formats until he gets back to his old self.
News: The San Antonio Express-News reports that Spurs forward Richard Jefferson, who had a string of 232 games started snapped when he missed Monday's win at New Orleans with back spasms, could return Wednesday against Utah. "I think he'll be fine," coach Gregg Popovich said. "I don't think it's any big deal."
Analysis: Use caution when setting your lineup in daily leagues with Jefferson. He is a quality Fantasy option when healthy, but this is an injury situation that could linger. Still, it sounds like the Spurs are expecting him to play against the Jazz based on what Popovich said.
News: Spurs SF Richard Jefferson missed Monday's game against the Hornets due to lower back pain. Jefferson is considered day to day with the injury.
Analysis: Jefferson scored three points on 0 for 6 shooting in his last game and just eight points on 3 of 7 from the field in the game prior to that. It is clear that he's been bothered by this back injury as it was affecting his performance on the court. He should be back shortly but realize this is an injury that could linger. Jefferson is normally worth using in most Fantasy leagues, when healthy. Reserve him in all daily formats for now.
News: San Antonio SF Richard Jefferson was limited to 10 points on Sunday against the Nets over 26 minutes on the court. Jefferson shot 4 for 9 from the field and added four rebounds and two assists.
Analysis: Jefferson's scoring continues to be down this season from where it was last year. He was pulling 19.6 per game as a Bucks player last season and is down to 13.2 this year, his worst scoring average since his rookie season when he played in just nine games. The Spurs have too many weapons and Jefferson gets overlooked at times. Jefferson is no longer a must-start Fantasy option but more of a useful stopgap in most leagues.
News: Spurs SF Richard Jefferson scored over 20 points for just the second time in December on Tuesday in a win over Minnesota. Jefferson scored 24 points on 10 of 17 shooting and added six boards and three dimes. He hit four threes in the win.
Analysis: Jefferson is averaging 14.4 points per game over his last five and that is over a point higher than his season average. If he could just sustain a streak of 20-point nights, Fantasy owners would need to get him active in more than 43 percent of leagues. The four threes were a nice sign on Tuesday and lets just hope this continues.
News: Spurs SF Richard Jefferson scored 17 points Wednesday at Golden State, giving him at least 17 points in four of his last five games. He's averaging 15.6 points during that stretch after averaging only 8.9 points over his previous seven games.
Analysis: With the Spurs, Jefferson clearly doesn't get all the scoring opportunities he got with other teams earlier in his career, but at least now he's contributing worthwhile numbers in Fantasy. He probably doesn't have the upside for much more than 15.6 points with his current supporting cast, making him a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy forward.
News: Spurs SF Richard Jefferson scored only seven points Monday at Utah, marking the fourth time in five games he has scored less than 10. He also had four rebounds and two assists. He's averaging 10.0 points over his last 11 games.
Analysis: Jefferson has been a scorer for much of his career, but the Spurs don't seem to have much scoring left over for him. Until they find a way to create more shots for him, he's just a No. 4 Fantasy forward.
News: San Antonio SF Richard Jefferson put together a double-double on Wednesday in an overtime loss to the Mavericks. Jefferson scored 13 points in the game and added 11 rebounds. He was 5 for 11 from the field, adding a blocked shot to his totals but also turning the ball over five times.
Analysis: Jefferson's numbers are down in San Antonio as Tim Duncan continues to take away from his scoring opportunities. He is looking like a No. 3 Fantasy option at best at this point in the season.
News: Spurs SF Richard Jefferson put up his best numbers of the season with Tim Duncan and Tony Parker sidelined by ankle injuries Monday against the Raptors. His 24 points, eight rebounds and seven assists all represented season highs.
Analysis: Jefferson has averaged at least 19 points each of the last two seasons, but he doesn't get as many scoring opportunities with Duncan, Parker and Manu Ginobili around. He's obviously a must-start with two of those three sidelined, but he's looking like a No. 3 Fantasy forward at best with everyone at full strength.
News: Spurs SF Richard Jefferson scored 19 points on Friday in a loss at Portland. Jefferson shot 7 of 13 from the field and missed all three threes he attempted. He added five rebounds and three steals in the loss.
Analysis: RJ struggled in his first two games for the Spurs but has come on since with three straight double-digit scoring performances. He has really struggled from deep this season but is hitting 50 percent from the field. Fantasy owners would like to see some more rebounds and steals as well but he's going to be just fine this season in San Antonio. Continue to use him as a No. 2 or 3 Fantasy forward.
News: Spurs SF Richard Jefferson was awful in his first game for San Antonio on Wednesday against the Hornets. Jefferson shot 1 of 7 from the field and scored just five points in 24 minutes. He added four boards and five assists.
Analysis: Jefferson will see better days as he continues to fit in with the Spurs. He should be a No. 2 or 3 Fantasy forward this season but didn't put forth that type of production in the opener.
News:Richard Jefferson, who was acquired in a four-player deal during the summer, only had six points in his preseason debut with the Spurs Tuesday. He was able to play despite suffering a minor thumb injury prior to the start of training camp.
Analysis: Jefferson said at Spurs Media Day he just wants to fit in after coming over from Milwaukee in a four-player deal this offseason. "You have that established group with Tim, Tony and Manu," Jefferson said. "You just want to contribute to that." Think about how the Fantasy appeal of players like Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen were affected when added to a team with other weapons around them. Jefferson will be worth drafting in any league as a No. 2 or 3 forward once again this season. Though it may be tough for him to average better than the 19.6 he averaged last season, he should still score in the high teens with decent rebounding and a couple of assists per game.
News:Richard Jefferson said at Spurs Media Day he just wants to fit in after coming over from Milwaukee in a four-player deal this offseason. "You have that established group with Tim, Tony and Manu," Jefferson said. "You just want to contribute to that." Jefferson, who jammed his thumb during a workout earlier this month, said he won't miss any time.
Analysis: Jefferson was the marquee addition in a busy offseason for San Antonio, coming to the Spurs in a four-player deal with Milwaukee. He has not missed a game the past two seasons. Jefferson will start at small forward for a contender in San Antonio and should fit in well alongside Parker, Duncan and Ginobili. His consistency may be affected somewhat playing for a team with so many other weapons. Think about how the Fantasy appeal of players like Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen were affected when added to a team with other weapons around them. Jefferson will be worth drafting in any league as a No. 2 or 3 forward once again this season. Though it may be tough for him to average better than the 19.6 he averaged last season, he should still score in the high teens with decent rebounding and a couple of assists per game.

News: Milwaukee sent swingman Richard Jefferson to San Antonio on Tuesday for Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas and Fabricio Oberto, taking three aging bench players with expiring contracts to unload Jefferson and the $29.2 million owed in the final two years of his contract. "His age helps us transition our team into a new era," Spurs general manager R.C. Buford said.
Analysis: Jefferson, 29, averaged 19.6 points in his one season with the Bucks. The trade gave both sides what they were after: Milwaukee needed to cut its payroll, and the Spurs needed and a young and healthy offensive threat after a long distinction as the NBA's oldest team. He will start at small forward for a contender in San Antonio and should fit in well alongside Tony Parker, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili. News: The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Bucks forward Richard Jefferson is the only Milwaukee player to start in all 48 games. In his first year with the Bucks, Jefferson is averaging 17.1 points and 4.9 rebounds in 35.5 minutes per game. He is shooting 42.2 percent from the field, well below his career mark of 47.5 percent entering this season. But Jefferson could be in for a scoring boost now that Michael Redd (knee) is out for the year. Jefferson's numbers went up during Redd's earlier absence from an ankle injury. Jefferson averaged 18.9 points and 5.2 rebounds during the 14-game span when Redd was out of the lineup.
Analysis: It appears like Jefferson could be in line for a boost, and hopefully that happens for the rest of the season. He remains a No. 2 Fantasy forward at this time, but he could see his value rise if his scoring and rebounding improves now that Redd is out.

It seems he will be falling short of the 22.6 points he averaged last season with the Nets, but the 17-5-2 line he is averaging this season still makes him worthy of use as a No. 2 forward in most leagues.

It was the second straight game with 10 points for the former Nets player who is averaging almost 18 per game this season. He also finished with zero rebounds and assists and that is rare for him.
Analysis: RJ is having a rough two games and has only scored above his yearly average once out of the last five games. His rebounding and assists are also down of late. Hopefully he turns it around soon. He remains a viable No. 2 Fantasy forward but needs to pick up the production again.
News: Milwaukee SF Richard Jefferson managed 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting in Wednesday's loss to the 76ers. Jefferson added three boards and two assists in the loss over 36 minutes. It was definitely one of Jefferson's poorer games in the last week of action.

News: Milwaukee SF Richard Jefferson scored 21 points in Wednesday's win over the Chicago Bulls. Jefferson added three boards and two steals but turned the ball over five times.
Analysis: Jefferson has scored 25, 25, 21, 19 and 21 point in his last five games for the Bucks and that is raising his scoring average nicely. He's up to about 19 points per game and is rebounding better of late, as well. He has scored in double figures in all but one game this season and remains a prolific enough scorer to serve as a No. 2 Fantasy forward.
News: Bucks SF Richard Jefferson had 25 points for a second consecutive game Wednesday at Atlanta, shooting 9-for-20 from the field. He also had six rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Analysis: Jefferson has topped 20 points only four times in his last 11 games, but he topped 25 each time. He has scored in double figures in all but one game this season and remains a prolific enough scorer to serve as a No. 2 Fantasy forward.

Analysis: Jefferson averaged a career-high 22.6 points for the Nets last year and will likely do plenty of scoring in Milwaukee. He's not much of a rebounder for a forward, though, so don't expect eight boards a night from him. View him as a No. 2 Fantasy option.

Analysis: Richard Jefferson will go up against Luol Deng, Jeff Green, Jamario Moon and possibly Quentin Richardson in New York. He should have the upside in two of those three matchups with experience on his side against Green and Moon to go with his athleticism and he has been very good against the Knicks during his career as a Net. Consider him a great play in all Fantasy leagues.

News: The Milwaukee Bucks traded forwards Yi Jianlian and Bobby Simmons to the New Jersey Nets for forward Richard Jefferson on Thursday. The trade had been reported earlier in the afternoon and was confirmed by both teams just hours before the NBA draft.
Analysis: Jefferson would start at small forward for the Bucks and would make part of a very respectable lineup that will include Michael Redd, Andrew Bogut and Mo Williams. On that team, he'd have to share the scoring load a little more than he did in New Jersey with Redd being a pure scorer and Williams being more of a scoring point guard than a passer. Fantasy owners should still consider Jefferson a No. 1 Fantasy forward going into the upcoming season.
News: WFAN radio in New York is reporting that the Nets have traded Richard Jefferson to the Bucks in exchange for Yi Jianlian and Bobby Simmons.
Analysis: This trade is still not official and it wouldn't be the first time a report like this was refuted, but if it's true it's a sign the Nets are very much in rebuilding mode. Jefferson would start at small forward for the Bucks and would make part of a very respectable lineup that will include Michael Redd, Andrew Bogut and Mo Williams. On that team, he'd have to share the scoring load a little more than he did in New Jersey with Redd being a pure scorer and Williams being more of a scoring point guard than a passer. Fantasy owners should still consider Jefferson a No. 1 Fantasy forward going into the upcoming season.
News: New Jersey Nets forward Richard Jefferson was charged with assault Wednesday for grabbing another man by the throat in a Minneapolis club earlier this year. Jefferson was in town with team on Jan. 27 when, according to a charge filed, he went to a club in the Graves Hotel where the victim was having a private birthday party in a roped-off section. The documents say Jefferson entered the area and got angry when he was asked to leave. He is accused of grabbing the victim, shoving him to a bench and choking him with both hands.
Analysis: Jefferson's first court hearing is set for June 18. At this time, it is unclear if this will affect him during the upcoming regular season. Obviously, it is something Fantasy owners will want to track during the offseason as Jefferson faces possible jail time as a result of these charges. Jefferson averaged a career-high 22.6 points, 4.1 rpg and 3.1 apg during the 2007-08 regular season. It was just the second time in his career in which he averaged more than 20 points. The first was his breakout season in 2004-05. He enters the season as a viable No. 1 Fantasy forward, worthy of a pick in the first few rounds.
News: Nets F Richard Jefferson averaged a career-high 22.6 points, 4.1 rpg and 3.1 apg during the 2007-08 regular season. It was just the second time in his career in which he averaged more than 20 points. The first was his breakout season in 2004-05.
Analysis: Jefferson actually led the team in scoring and was the team's most consistent Fantasy option for the first time in his career. However, his numbers did drop a tad as the season progressed and some of that may have to do with the departure of Jason Kidd. Devin Harris is much less of a playmaker and more of a scorer than Kidd ever was, so the potential is there for Jefferson to see a slight decrease in his numbers in 2008-09. He still enters the years as a viable No. 1 Fantasy forward, though, worthy of a pick in the first few rounds.
News: Nets forward Richard Jefferson scored 28 points with five assists and four rebounds and hit a go-ahead jumper in overtime and the Nets limited the Bobcats to 47 points in the final 29 minutes in a 112-108 meaningless victory on Tuesday night. "At the end of the day, it's about winning," said Jefferson, who gave Bobcats forward Emeka Okafor a bloody nose with a left to the face on a fourth-quarter dunk. "Nothing we do out there tonight will make us feel any better over the summer. It's not going to give us any momentum heading into next season. It's just a matter of going out there and being a professional." Jefferson is averaging 21.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists in his past five games.
Analysis: For the season, Jefferson is averaging 22.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists. He has improved his overall game since Jason Kidd was traded and remains an elite Fantasy option heading into 2008-09.
News: Nets forward Richard Jefferson had 15 points, six rebounds and four assists Wednesday at Cleveland.
Analysis: Jefferson remains a quality Fantasy option. Continue to start him in all scoring formats.
News: Nets F Richard Jefferson scored 26 points off 7-for-10 shooting from the field in Monday's win at the Knicks. He had been held to 11 points his last time out at Philadelphia.
Analysis: Jefferson and Vince Carter have been the only consistent scoring options on the team for most of the season and that's not going to change down the stretch. He's averaging 24.0 ppg, 3.4 rpg and 2.6 apg over his last five games.
News: Nets SF Richard Jefferson scored at least 20 points for the sixth time in seven games when he dropped in 21 Tuesday against the Bulls. Jefferson, who also had two rebounds and two assists, is averaging 20.2 in nine March games.
Analysis: Jefferson, like teammate Vince Carter, is actually averaging a season-low as far as points in March. It's amazing how much one player, Jason Kidd, can make when it comes to distributing the ball. But that is the reason why Jefferson's scoring is down a little. He is still putting enough points on the board to start as a high-end Fantasy forward, but it is worth mentioning that Kidd did make a difference in New Jersey.
News: Nets F Richard Jefferson shot 8-for-11 from the field in Wednesday's win over Cleveland. He scored a team-best 24 points with 6 assists and 4 rebounds.
Analysis: Jefferson bounced back from a 12-point outing his last time out with this very solid line. He has scored 20-plus points in three of four games. He remains a must-start in Fantasy.

News: Nets F Richard Jefferson made 12-of-22 shots from the field in Friday's loss at New Orleans. He scored a game-high 27 points and also added 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
Analysis: For Jefferson, it was by far his best game since the arrival of Devin Harris. He hadn't scored 20 points in game since Harris came over from Dallas and since -- more importantly -- Jason Kidd left. Perhaps this is the start of an overdue hot streak for Jefferson.
News: Nets F Richard Jefferson had 22 points off 10-for-18 shooting in Wednesday's loss at Memphis. He added 2 rebounds and 2 assists and it was the first time in three games that he managed to score 20 or more points.
Analysis: Jefferson's recent 20-point drought coincides with the arrival of Devin Harris. That may be more than a coincidence. Jefferson no longer has Jason Kidd around to set him up as much as he did on the offensive end now also has to share scoring chances with a new option in Harris, who is much more of a scoring guard than Kidd ever was.
News: Nets forward Richard Jefferson only had 10 points Tuesday at San Antonio on 4-of-12 shooting from the field and 2-of-4 from the foul line. He also added five rebounds and one assist.

News: Nets SF Richard Jefferson just missed scoring at least 20 points for the fifth straight game when he poured in 19 Thursday against the Bucks. Jefferson finished with four rebounds and four assists. He hasn't recorded a double-double in six games.
Analysis: Jefferson is trying to keep his focus on the court as he is involved in a minor off-the-court issue. He seems to be doing a good job as he continues to average more than 23 points per game. There is no need to remove Jefferson from your starting Fantasy lineup.
News: Nets F Richard Jefferson has heard all the theories that the Nets need someone to step into Jason Kidd's leader role. He's done his part. In three games since Kidd was traded, Jefferson has scored 94 points -- 24, 34 and 36. "I think I learned a lot from Jason. He would be disappointed in me if I didn't come out here and play the way he taught me," Jefferson said in the Sports Xchange.
Analysis: Jefferson is playing well recently and should be used as a No. 2 Fantasy forward for the rest of the season.

He remains a must-start Fantasy forward, averaging 23.3 points per game, and appears in no immediate danger of missing time due to legal concerns.

News: Nets F Richard Jefferson shot 6-for-18 from the field in Wednesday's blowout loss at Toronto. He scored 15 points with 2 assists and 2 rebounds.
Analysis: Jefferson really struggled from the field in the first half and appeared to be in a malaise on a day when the Nets arrived in Toronto at 4 a.m. EST. The Nets were also hit with the bombshell Wednesday that they had agreed to trade Jason Kidd to Dallas. All of this may have played a part in Jefferson's poor shooting night, but he remains a Fantasy must-start.

Analysis: Jefferson scored well less than his 23.4 points per game. In fact, he's averaged only 15.6 over his last five games. Still, start him in all Fantasy leagues.

X-rays were negative. Jefferson returned against L.A. and finished with 12 points. He scored 11 in Orlando.
Analysis: Jefferson scored well below his 23.5 points per game average in the last two games, but there is little cause for concern at this time. The eye injury is not serious and is not expected to keep RJ sidelined. He is a must-start Fantasy option until told otherwise.
News:The Sports Xchange reports Nets SF Richard Jefferson didn't have his "bearing" much of the night Tuesday against the Lakers. Jefferson took a hard elbow from Lamar Odom at 9:59 of the first quarter. X-rays were negative and Jefferson needed five stitches above his left eye. He returned at 10:17 of the second quarter and finished with 12 points.
Analysis: Jefferson might not have been all there Tuesday, but he still finished the game and shouldn't be held out of the lineup in the coming games. The 12 points ended a streak of four games in which RJ scored 20-plus points. He is averaging 23.8 points this season and is a must-start Fantasy option when healthy.

News: Nets SF Richard Jefferson had 34 points with nine assists and five rebounds Thursday at Golden State in a loss to the Warriors. For Richardson, it was his highest point total since he had 36 on Dec. 18. It was also his season-best performance for assists.
Analysis: The Warriors tried very hard to keep the ball out of Jason Kidd's hands in a position to do anything from a play-making standpoint and that allowed Jefferson to take on a more passive role. That obviously didn't take away from his scoring, though.
News: Nets SF Richard Jefferson had 21 points with five rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block during Saturday's overtime loss at the Clippers.

News: Nets SF Richard Jefferson reached 20 points for the first time in three games when he scored 22 points Wednesday against the Knicks. Jefferson, who also had six rebounds, has now scored 20 or more points in five of the last seven games.
Analysis: Jefferson has been able to average 20-plus points all season and that is great news for Fantasy owners. He might not be much of a rebounder or assist guy, but he scores and that matters in Fantasy leagues. Start him in all Fantasy formats.
News: For only the second time this season, a team limited Nets SF Richard Jefferson to less than 10 points. He scored nine Monday against the Trail Blazers, shooting 2-for-11 from the field. He also had four assists.
Analysis: Everyone will have a poor night now and then. Jefferson has still averaged a career-high 24.4 points per game this season and deserves to start as a No. 1 forward in Fantasy.

Analysis: Jefferson doesn't contribute much in the way of rebounds or assists, but his scoring average makes him a must-start in Fantasy.
News: Nets SF Richard Jefferson had just 14 points with two assists, two rebounds, two steals and two blocks in Wednesday's win at Orlando. It was the first time Jefferson had been held under 15 points since Dec. 15 at the Knicks.
Analysis: Jefferson is having a career season, averaging 24.5 ppg, so we wouldn't be worried about him getting held to under 15 points often. Continue to start him in all leagues.
News: Nets SF Richard Jefferson had only one rebound and one assist Saturday at Milwaukee. He scored 19 points.
Analysis: Jefferson has an average of 4.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game this season, so you mostly start him for his 24.8 points per game. Enjoying possibly the best season of his career, he remains a must-start in Fantasy.

Analysis: Jefferson entered Tuesday's game averaging a career-high 24.8 points this season, and that number only improved with his performance. He is a clear must-start in Fantasy, having scored no fewer than 15 points in a game this season.
News: Another 30-point performance and more important, another road win for the New Jersey Nets weren't enough to satisfy Richard Jefferson. Not after watching a double-digit lead in the second half nearly disappear and letting the struggling Seattle SuperSonics almost complete a major rally in the closing seconds, before Nets held on for a 98-93 win on Friday. "I'm always going to look on the brighter side, I'm always optimistic, but if we want more, we've got to expect better from ourselves," Jefferson said. Despite his complaints, there was an air of satisfaction for Jefferson, who kept up his stellar start to the season with his second-straight 30-point game.
Analysis: Already averaging a career-best 24.9 points, Jefferson continued to carry the Nets, even with an injured Vince Carter available again after missing time with a sprained right ankle. Having Carter on the floor only makes Jefferson better. Jefferson also chipped in with four rebounds and five assists Friday. Jefferson has not been held to fewer than 10 points this season and continues to be a dynamite Fantasy option.
News: In his first game without SG Vince Carter in the lineup, Nets SF Richard Jefferson led the team with a season-high 32 points Monday against the Hornets. He entered the night sixth in the league in scoring with 26.0 points per game.
Analysis: Jefferson added six rebounds and four assists. Already having a career year, his numbers should only improve with the short-term loss of Carter. Keep him active in all Fantasy formats.
News: Vince Carter of the New Jersey Nets will be sidelined indefinitely with a sprained right ankle. An MRI on Monday revealed Carter sustained a Grade 1 sprain on Saturday against the Boston Celtics, Nets president Rod Thorn said on Monday. There was no timetable for Carter's return. Expect the Nets to give Carter's minutes to Antoine Wright and Bostjan Nachbar in the meantime with Richard Jefferson getting a big boost in offensive looks to continue his hot start.
Analysis: Jefferson was averaging 26.0 ppg in six games with Carter in the lineup and will now be the unquestioned No. 1 scoring option in Jersey while Carter is out. He will also be getting a lot more defensive attention, though.
News: Nets SF Richard Jefferson had a team-high 25 points with six rebounds, a steal and a block Thursday vs. Washington.
Analysis: Jefferson has been the primary scoring option at the start of the season for the Nets, surpassing Vince Carter in that role. We don't know how long that will last, but we do know that Jefferson should enjoy career numbers as long as he can stay healthy.
News: Nets SF Richard Jefferson continued his hot start Saturday at Philadelphia. He scored 22 points, giving him three straight 20-point games to open the season, and shot 9-of-18 from the field. He also had six assists, four rebounds and three steals.

News: Richard Jefferson scored 11 points in his first game of the exhibition season Monday night as the Nets fell 96-86 to the Bobcats. "I was sucking wind," Jefferson said. "It was good to finally get out there and reading and reacting."
Analysis: Jefferson has only played in an average of 55 games over the last three seasons and has seen his scoring average drop from 22.2 in 2004-05 to 19.5 in 2005-06 to 16.3 last season. Still, he is a serviceable Fantasy forward, who is going in the fourth to sixth round range.
News: New Jersey's Vince Carter, Jason Kidd, Richard Jefferson and Nenad Krstic all sat out Friday's preseason game at Philadelphia.
Analysis: Nets coach Lawrence Frank just wanted to rest his starters in a meaningless game. There is no need to worry. The team's big four remain on target for a healthy preseason and are all slated to start for the team's first game on Oct. 31.
News: Forward Richard Jefferson, who was coming off his two best consecutive games of the season -- 27 points and a season-high 35, both against Washington -- remains on a minutes restriction in back-to-back scenarios, coach Lawrence Frank said, "No more than probably 36, but probably the ideal thing is 34."
Analysis: Jefferson played 28 minutes at Cleveland Thursday. The Nets play Friday and then have one more back-to-back set, Sunday and Monday. He should still do enough in 30-plus minutes of action to warrant using him as a No. 2 Fantasy forward in most formats.
News: Nets forward Richard Jefferson insists his ankle will not be 100 percent until after he rests over the summer, but if his last two games are any indication, he is feeling fine. Jefferson followed Saturday's 27-point effort that tied his season high with a high-octane 35-point season-high effort Tuesday at Washington.
Analysis: It appears Jefferson is back to his old self. Continue to start him in all scoring formats.
News: According to the New York Post, Nets forward Richard Jefferson is going to have to keep improving. After returning from ankle surgery, he's still regaining his rhythm, conditioning and explosiveness, still looking a step slow closing out on opponents. "That's a big part of it," coach Lawrence Frank said. "The physical things, what he can and cannot do, what he feels confident with, understanding when he can attack the rim, if he feels like he's limited. He's getting better at it, but it's a process. He's obviously not 100 percent, but he shows flashes." Jefferson got outplayed last week by Detroit's Tayshaun Prince, whom he usually handles well, then missed a dunk in Philadelphia. Wednesday night, even with Joe Johnson out, he'll see time on high-flying Hawks Marvin Williams and Josh Smith.
Analysis: "That's what we're going to focus on, getting healthy and winning these last few games," Jefferson said. "That's something we've been trying to do all season. Unfortunately, because of injuries, we haven't been able to. Hopefully we can put them together." Hopefully Jefferson can keep playing well and be a significant Fantasy player.
News: Forward Richard Jefferson, who seemed a bit perturbed at his lack of involvement in the offense early on Friday, was back to his rim-attacking, aggressive self Saturday at Charlotte. Jefferson finished just 3-for-8 from the floor -- but he was 10-for-10 at the free-throw line.
Analysis: Use Jefferson as a No. 2 option in all scoring formats now that he's back to 100 percent again.
News: Forward Richard Jefferson moved into seventh place on the Nets' all-time scoring list at 3:34 of the second quarter Friday when he scored on a fast break lay-up for his sixth and seventh points of the night. He moved one ahead of Otis Birdsong, who scored 6,415 in his Nets career. Jefferson finished the game with 19 points for a total of 6,428.
Analysis: Jefferson could be a lot higher on the list if it weren't for the injuries he has suffered over the last three seasons. He appears to be as healthy now as he has been in a while, though. Use Jefferson as a No. 2 option in all scoring formats now that he's back to 100 percent again.
News: Nets forward Richard Jefferson has played the last six games, but after two- and seven-point struggles in his first two games, he's averaged 20.5 points per game since. "It was frustration because your numbers aren't where they should be and your team isn't where it should be, so you feel there's a direct correlation between the two. It's obvious when I'm playing well the team is doing better. It's the same when J-Kidd - or Vince is playing well," Jefferson told the New York Post. "I have to give credit to J-Kidd. Everything I learned at the defensive end is from him. You take challenges, take it personal when people are scoring at you. I'm still trying to get into rhythm, but just being out there makes everything easier for everyone."
Analysis: Use Jefferson as a No. 2 option in all scoring formats now that he's back to 100 percent again.
News: Nets forward Richard Jefferson is getting better and better as the Nets prep for their final playoff push. Jefferson, six games back from a 21-game ankle surgery-induced absence, had his fourth straight double figure scoring game when he scored 18 Sunday against the Clippers. Jefferson also grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds.
Analysis: Jefferson keeps getting better now that he's healthy. Consider him a No. 2 option in all scoring formats.
News: Nets forward Richard Jefferson had made huge strides in his five games back from ankle surgery. After games of 18 and 26 points, Jefferson scored 20 points against the Heat on Thursday. But his role is far more than scoring. In the Nets' small lineup, Jefferson will go at power forward at times. He accepts the assignment. "When I was a little beat up, I was not necessarily trying to avoid contact, but you pick your spots when to stick your nose in there," he said.
Analysis: Jefferson is back to being a viable Fantasy option. He should be started in all leagues at this time.
News: Jefferson had his best game since returning from ankle surgery, Vince Carter hit the go-ahead free throws with 21 seconds left, and the New Jersey Nets beat the New Orleans Hornets 112-108 on Tuesday night to move into a tie for one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference. "I've felt the best the last few days that I have all year long, since probably last season," said Jefferson, who had 18 points a night earlier against Memphis.
Analysis: Jefferson, in his fourth game back after six weeks out, had 26 points. He is quickly re-emerging as a must-start in all Fantasy leagues. That is just in time for the reeling Nets, who had been on a losing streak until piecing together back-to-back wins.
News: Forward Richard Jefferson was in the Nets' starting lineup for the first time since Jan. 20 Saturday against the Spurs. Jefferson, who underwent right ankle surgery on Jan. 22, had returned in Houston Friday playing 16 minutes.
Analysis: In San Antonio, Jefferson played 35 minutes. He scored seven points. In his two games, Jefferson is 4-of-16 from the floor. Jefferson moved well and said his wind was fine, but he didn't appear to be himself. His explosiveness is what allows him to score so well and that may take a few more games to get back. Consider him a safe start as a No. 3 forward for now.
News: Forward Richard Jefferson returned for the Nets Friday after missing 21 games following right ankle surgery. Jefferson came off the bench against the Rockets in Houston and played 16 minutes, scoring two points.
Analysis: He is expected to start Saturday in San Antonio. Jefferson moved well and said his wind was fine, but he didn't appear to be himself. His explosiveness is what allows him to score so well, so look to see if that's back before activating him.
News: The Nets announced just prior to tipoff on Friday at Houston that F Richard Jefferson (ankle) will be back in action, coming off the bench against the Rockets.
Analysis: This is great news. Fantasy owners will now have the entire weekend to gage Jefferson's health before activating him for the upcoming scoring period. When healthy, Jefferson is a must-start No. 2 Fantasy forward for his scoring and rebounding. His explosiveness is what allows him to score so well, so look to see if that's back before activating him.
News: According to the New York Post, Nets guard Richard Jefferson went through practice Thursday, working in halfcourt sets with some shooting. Jefferson, who underwent right ankle surgery on Jan. 22, is listed as out for Friday night against the Rockets but could see his first live action since Jan. 20 on Saturday in San Antonio.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Jefferson's status Saturday against the Spurs. If he plays, it might be safe to get him in the lineup for next week's scoring period. Keep him reserved in all daily leagues, however, because of the uncertainty of his status.
News: Nets F Richard Jefferson (ankle surgery) is doing some jogging, shooting, slide-steps and running stairs, but he's not yet cleared to practice. Coach Lawrence Frank said he's hoping that will happen next week.
Analysis: Jefferson is sidelined until at least mid-March, since he has yet to start practicing. Keep him reserved in all Fantasy formats, but grab him and stash him away if he is available in your league.
News: Nets head coach Lawrence Frank said Sunday that Richard Jefferson (ankle) did some work at the practice facility Sunday but added that there was no timetable on his return, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. "We'll take it slowly. We want to stay true to when he feels right, we'll get him back on the court. We're taking some small steps and we'll continue to read it," Frank said.
Analysis: Jefferson is closer than ever to a return, but it doesn't appear the Nets are too confident he'll be able to play on the team's road trip through Texas this week. If he does, it would likely be Friday at Houston or Saturday at San Antonio. We recommend reserving him one more week and hoping for him to be ready to activate for the next scoring period. It appears that he will be at least ready for that.
News: According to the Newark Star Ledger, it is widely assumed that Nets F Richard Jefferson will practice Wednesday (in Dallas) or Thursday (in Houston), and then play either Friday at Houston or Saturday at San Antonio.
Analysis: The Nets forward took another step in his ankle rehab by playing one-on-one for the first time before Saturday's game. Consider him a very risky start for the upcoming scoring period, but he should be ready for the following week.
News: Richard Jefferson will accompany the New Jersey Nets on an upcoming six-game road trip, but it is uncertain whether he'll play for the first time since undergoing ankle surgery in January. "I don't even know if I will be back on this road trip," Jefferson said after his workout. "I would like to come back somewhere around the end, depending on how it feels."
Analysis: The forward played some slow-paced one-on-one with rookie Hassan Adams on Saturday about an hour before the Nets played the Boston Celtics at the Continental Airlines Arena. It was the first one-on-one action for the six-year veteran since surgery on Jan. 22 on his right ankle. Jefferson, who seemed to be favoring his right ankle while landing on a couple of jump shots against Adams, hasn't pushed himself yet. Even with the Nets fighting for a playoff berth, coach Lawrence Frank has no intention of pushing Jefferson, who is the team's third-leading scorer with a 16.1-point average. Consider him a very risky start for the upcoming scoring period, but he could be ready for the following week.
News: Nets F Richard Jefferson (ankle) shot jumpers for 20 minutes before Friday night's game, according to the New York Post. That was his longest session on the floor since undergoing surgery on his right ankle Jan. 22. "That was the most I did," said Jefferson, who reported there was no pain afterward but said Saturday will be the real test.
Analysis: Jefferson is likely still about a week from returning and should be reserved for the upcoming scoring period. When healthy, he's a low-end No. 1 Fantasy forward.
News: Nets F Richard Jefferson (ankle) continues to rehab an hopes to return within the next month.
Analysis: He has moved on to pool excercises in order to try and strengthen the ankle, but is still at least a couple of weeks away from returning to practice.
News: Richard Jefferson is insisting that he will not rush back from arthroscopic surgery on his right ankle -- and he's getting no complaints from the Nets. "Everybody's different," Jefferson said. "Everybody adapts different to different things, so we'll see. There's no need for me to put a timeframe."
Analysis: The original estimate was 6-8 weeks after Jefferson underwent surgery Jan. 22, but it could be longer. And coach Lawrence Frank supports that. "The one thing that's been made very clear to Richard is that we do not want him back until he's 100 percent," Frank said.
News: According to the New York Times, the Nets will be without Richard Jefferson (ankle) for about the next six weeks after he undergoes arthroscopic surgery Monday to remove loose fragments from his right ankle.
Analysis: Jefferson, who has been bothered by ankle problems all season, chose to have the surgery now because his ankle was not getting better, said Rod Thorn, the Nets' president. Jefferson took two cortisone shots earlier this season, and Thorn said they were not working. Having the surgery now avoids the possibility of Jefferson's ankle becoming so bad that he would have to miss the rest of the season. As it is, he will miss much of the remainder of the Fantasy season. He should still be reserved in leagues of 10-plus teams, though, if at all possible because he's a solid No. 2 forward in any league.
News: New Jersey Nets forward Richard Jefferson will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right ankle Monday. The team gave no timetable for his return.
Analysis: Jefferson had been bothered by ankle pain since before the start of the season, and left a game against Miami on Nov. 10 after landing on the foot of Miami's Shaquille O'Neal. He has missed six of New Jersey's 40 games and is averaging 16 points and 4.5 rebounds. Reserve him in all leagues for the upcoming scoring period, but stash him away until a timetable can be established. When healthy, he's a low-end No. 1 Fantasy forward.
News: According to the Bergen County Record, Nets F Richard Jefferson, who has been playing with bone spurs in his right ankle, could opt for surgery sometime in the near future instead of waiting for the offseason. Jefferson, who had 21 points and six assists on Friday, has been playing through pain in his ankle for quite a while and it is up to him on how long he will continue to play in pain. Jefferson, who continues to list himself as "day-to-day," has had two cortisone shots to help with the pain. A third shot could buy him a little more time, but if the ankle continues to bother him, surgery could be on the horizon. It is possible that Jefferson will not be on the team's road trip next week.
Analysis: If Jefferson does opt for surgery within the week, it is expected he would miss about six weeks, which means a return after the All-Star break is likely. Definitely not the news Fantasy owners want to hear. Continue to use Jefferson in all Fantasy formats in the meantime and just hope he will be able to play through pain. He is a must-start Fantasy forward.
News: According to the New York Post, Richard Jefferson is upset about a report delving into his whereabouts following the game against Toronto on Tuesday. Jefferson was excused from practice Wednesday for personal reasons and showed up Thursday with a black eye he said he received playing against the Raptors. "[When] all of a sudden I get people writing stuff about what I did the night before, where I was and what was going on, I take that as a personal attack," said Jefferson, one of the NBA media good guys. "I've been open with you guys as much as you possibly can. But when somebody writes something like that, how can you not take it as a personal attack? ... I said I hurt it in the game. ... People are calling me and asking, 'Did you and one of your teammates get into a fight?'"
Analysis: Team president Rod Thorn dismissed the entire black-eye incident and said Jefferson "looks fine to me." Earlier this season, Jefferson addressed and dismissed an Internet report that some interpreted to be an attack on him. Jefferson has really stepped up his game since the start of December, failing to score in double-figures just once. It looks as though he could be free of pain from an ankle injury and is a must-start in all Fantasy leagues -- regardless of where he got the black eye from.
News: Nets F Richard Jefferson is the difference in the Nets' recent surge, according to team president Rod Thorn. In the Nets' 5-1 binge, Jefferson has averaged 19.2 points. "He's played very well. He's averaged over 20 points, he's getting assists, he's attacking the basket, getting to the foul line. That's when we're at our best," Thorn said.
Analysis: Jefferson has really stepped up his game since the start of December, failing to score in double-figures just once. It looks as though he could be free of pain from an ankle injury and is a must-start in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Nets F Richard Jefferson had 14 points and five rebounds against the Bulls on Thursday.
Analysis: Jefferson has really stepped up his game since the start of December, failing to score in double-figures just once. It looks as though he could be free of pain from an ankle injury and is a must-start in all Fantasy leagues.

News: Nets F Richard Jefferson, showing little evidence of the ankle problems that have plagued him all season, scored 23 points against Minnesota Saturday, 24 hours after scoring 22 points against Miami. It marked the first time this season Jefferson has consecutive 20-point games.
Analysis: Jefferson not experiencing any problems with his ankle would certainly be a blessing in disguise for the Nets, who desperately need him to step up with Nenad Krstic out for the season. R.J. remains a must-start Fantasy forward.
News: The most encouraging sign in Friday's victory over the Heat in Miami may have been Richard Jefferson showing some of the explosiveness he has lacked much of the season. Jefferson ran the floor, had spring in his jump and scored 22 points.
Analysis: Jefferson will likely see a boost in scoring with Nenad Krstic going down for the season. His value can only go up, but he's already a must-start Fantasy option.
News: Nets F Richard Jefferson scored 18 points on 7-for-16 shot attempts in Friday's loss to the Lakers.
Analysis: Jefferson will likely see a boost in scoring with Nenad Krstic going down for the season. His value can only go up, but he's already a must-start Fantasy option.
News: After missing just one game, Nets F Richard Jefferson (ankle) returned to the team's starting lineup on Saturday against the Pistons.
Analysis: The Nets were worried that Jefferson would not be able to play on Saturday, but he surprised everyone by being able to give it a go. It looks as though he is going to have serious ankle problems all season and Fantasy owners need to be aware of his situation. While it appears safe to get him back into active Fantasy lineups, he could be pulled out of the Nets lineup on any given day. When healthy, he makes a great Fantasy option as a No. 2 or 3 forward because of his ability to score.
News: The Richard Jefferson situation is causing real concern. The Nets are listing him as day-to-day, but have no real idea when he will play. He sat Friday in Toronto and likely will miss Saturday at home. "I thought the last week before our last game, his explosion was coming back," said team president Rod Thorn. "He looked more like himself. This obviously was a setback. Right now he's day-to-day and we'll have to see what transpires with him."
Analysis: Continue to reserve the former Arizona Wildcat standout until he is able to play a game or two without having any more problems with the ankle. When healthy, he makes a great Fantasy option as a No. 2 or 3 forward because of his ability to score.
News: According to reports, Nets F Richard Jefferson (ankle) will not play in Friday's game at Toronto.
Analysis: Jefferson missed some time earlier in the season with a sprained ankle and it looks as though the problem is still lingering. Consider him questionable for Dec. 16 vs. Detroit.
News: Nets F Richard Jefferson missed the second half on Wednesday's game against the Bucks with a sore ankle. He had seven points in the game.
Analysis: Jefferson missed some time earlier in the season with a sprained ankle and it looks as though the problem is still lingering. Consider him day-to-day. There is a 50-50 chance he could miss Friday's game against the Raptors. When healthy, he is averaging 16.7 points and 5.0 rebounds a game.
News: Nets F Richard Jefferson accounted for 25 of the Nets 157 points on Thursday against the Suns. He also had eight rebounds in the game.
Analysis: Jefferson remains New Jersey's No. 2 scoring option and is a terrific Fantasy forward in any format when healthy.
News: Nets F Richard Jefferson scored 18 points off 5-for-11 shooting from the field Wednesday at Boston.
Analysis: Jefferson remains New Jersey's No. 2 scoring option and is a terrific Fantasy forward in any format when healthy.
News: After Seattle took a brief lead in the third quarter, Richard Jefferson made an open 3-pointer to put the Nets back up entering the final quarter. New Jersey's second-leading scorer returned after missing five games with a sprained left ankle. He badly missed his only shot of the first half and later had turnovers on consecutive possessions. His first basket came 7½ minutes into the third period, a slick, spinning fadeaway in the lane over Rashard Lewis.
Analysis: Jefferson finished with nine points in 26 minutes. "I missed 10 days, and before that I didn't practice that much," Jefferson said. "I feel fine. I'm ready to go on Wednesday (at Portland)." He should be safe to start in all formats again.
News: Richard Jefferson sat his fourth straight game Friday with a sprained ankle. He's looking to return sometime next week. "I really don't know, only because I've never missed a game because of a sprained ankle. I'm not like a big man who's planting. I'm a guy who's sprinting, cutting, chasing people around, so it's different. I never experienced anything like this," he said.
Analysis: Jefferson could return for Monday's game at Seattle, but should be considered a questionable start for the upcoming scring period.
