News: Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin changed up his starting lineup for Monday's contest against the Celtics. Corbin decided to start guard Earl Watson over Jamaal Tinsley in the 110-107 overtime loss, and cited Tinsley as being "a little banged up," as the reason for the change. Watson finished with two points, two rebounds and two assists in the defeat on 1 of 3 shooting from the field.
Analysis: While the Jazz seem to think Tinsley is injured, the veteran insisted after the game that he is not, so this is a situation that Fantasy owners should keep an eye on moving forward. However, it has been a few years since Watson had any sort of Fantasy value as evidenced by his weak stat line against the Celtics. Whether he continues to start or come off the bench, Watson should not be starting in the majority of formats at this point in the year.
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson was able to suit up for Fridays game against the Bulls, after missing the teams previous three games with a leg injury. Watson was available off the bench but did not play in the 93-89 loss.
Analysis: Watson has been a decent source of assists this season, posting a 4.2-per-game average. Unfortunately, he does little else, scoring only 2.0 points per game. He is just a low-end Fantasy option in the deepest of formats.
News: The Jazz radio broadcast reported prior to Wednesday's game against the Bucks that guard Earl Watson was unable to play, due to a lingering leg injury. He has missed the last three games as a result.
Analysis: Watson can be a decent source of assists, as he puts up 4.2 per game in just 17.8 minutes. Unfortunately, he also adds just 2.0 points per game. Consider him just a low-end Fantasy option in deeper formats, when healthy.
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson, who has missed the last two games with a leg injury, is considered a game-time decision Wednesday vs. Milwaukee.
Analysis: Watson logs a fair amount of minutes when healthy, but you couldn't tell by his stats. Watson is hardly a factor in Fantasy and has marginal appeal when healthy.
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson, who left Friday's game with a leg injury, did not travel with the team and has been ruled out of Saturday's contest against the Trail Blazers. The team also announced that an MRI Saturday revealed a bone bruising and small non-displaced stress fracture. Watson can resume activity as his comfort level improves, according to the report.
Analysis: Watson, who did not travel with the team Friday night, was unable to rejoin the club, and will likely be out for a bit until he can gradually return to active. The Jazz have yet to set a timetable, so we'll continue to monitor his progress moving forward. The veteran has been a marginal contributor for the Jazz, averaging just 2.0 points and 4.2 assists per game before getting hurt. Watson should be ignored in all formats moving forward, even if healthy.
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson, who left Friday's game with a leg injury, did not travel with the team and has been ruled out of Saturday's contest against the Trail Blazers. Jamaal Tinsley and Alec Burks are expected to fill the void for the Jazz while he is out.
Analysis: The Jazz have yet to release his MRI results, so we'll continue to keep an eye on his status in the coming days. Watson, who did not travel with the team Friday night, was unable to rejoin the club, so he'll have a few days of rest before the team's next game at home against the Kings on Monday. Even if he is able to play through his latest ailment, the veteran has scored a combined eight points over his last five games, which isn't going to help out many Fantasy owners. Watson should be ignored in all formats moving forward, even if healthy.
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson left Friday's game against the Trail Blazers after suffering a leg injury. Watson sustained the injury during the second half of the 86-77 win and did not return. He finished with three points prior to leaving the contest and is scheduled to undergo a MRI on his leg Saturday.
Analysis: Watson did not travel with the team Friday night, so it seems highly unlikely that he will play Saturday. Even if he is able to play through his latest ailment, the veteran has scored a combined eight points over his last five games, which isn't going to help out many Fantasy owners. Watson should be ignored in all formats moving forward no matter if he is healthy or not.
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson was not much of a factor during Monday's blowout loss to the Rockets. Watson was shutout for the 11th time this season in the 125-80 defeat as he missed on his lone field-goal attempt. He did add two rebounds and one assist to his stat line, while logging 10 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Watson continues to serve as Jamaal Tinsley's backup, but he isn't giving much to Fantasy owners in that role. In fact, the veteran has scored a combined 10 points over his last seven games and he is averaging 4.4 assists over that stretch. That type of production isn't going to help out many owners, so continue to ignore Watson in all formats at this point in the season.
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson was pressed into duty Saturday against the Pistons, as starter Jamaal Tinsley was forced to leave the game early due to an illness. Watson played 26 minutes off the bench, dishing out six assists with just two turnovers. He scored just two points on 0 of 3 shooting, while grabbing three rebounds, in a 90-87 win.
Analysis: Watson is playing a bit more often recently due to injury, as he is the teams primary option as the backup point guard. He is averaging 17.8 minutes per game over the last five, but is contributing just 3.4 points and 3.0 assists in that span. At this point, he remains just a low-end Fantasy reserve.
News: Utah point guards Earl Watson and Jamaal Tinsley will split the backup PG duties behind Mo Williams going forward, reports the Deseret News. "They both deserve to play," Tyrone Corbin said. "Jamaal's done a tremendous job for us. Earl's working his way back in. There's not going to be a lot of minutes there now that Mo's back up to speed."
Analysis: Watson has been getting 13.2 minutes per game over his last five contests with Tinsley seeing more time as he saw the boost when Williams went down with injury. Now, it appears both will play going forward. That means both will have low-end Fantasy value in all leagues and formats.
News: After missing the first 12 games of the season because of a knee injury, Jazz guard Earl Watson continues to make progress and recorded six points and five assists during his second game in a loss to Sacramento last Saturday. He drained 3 of his 4 attempts from the field after finishing scoreless when he missed his two field-goal tries in his first game the night before. "Im feeling more and more comfortable," Watson told The Salt Lake Tribune. "My rhythm is coming back."
Analysis: Watson logged seven more minutes Saturday than in his debut as he served as the backup to Jamaal Tinsley with Mo Williams sidelined. But he is expected to be the first point guard off the bench once he rounds into game shape. "Its not my call not to play extended minutes," he said. "I dont know who its coming from. I was just told my minutes would be 10 minutes. As far as physically, I feel like I can play more because I practice." Fantasy owners should monitor his playing time, but he's not a worthwhile option in most formats for now.
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson finally was able to get on the court for Friday's contest against the Kings. Watson, who had missed the team's 12 previous games due to a knee injury, was scoreless in 10 minutes off the bench in the 104-102 win. He did add two assists and two steals to his stat line.
Analysis: Watson is expected to serve as Mo Williams' primary backup but could end up seeing increased minutes right away with Williams tweaking his ankle. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on Watson's minutes moving forward. However, he would only be worth using if his playing time creeps into the 20-25 minute range.
News: Utah guard Earl Watson was unable to play Monday against Houston as the Jazz pulled the victory. He has now missed 12 straight games to begin the season as he conbtinues to recover from offseason knee surgery. It is not clear when he will be able to come back.
Analysis: Watson has been a serviceable backup point guard in the past, but his scoring ability has severely diminished in recent years. Even when healthy, Watson will see little playing time, and is not worth stashing in any Fantasy formats at this time.
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson was unable to play Saturday against the Wizards, the 11th game he has missed to begin the season. Watson continues to recover from offseason knee surgery, and it is not clear when he will be able to come back.

Analysis: Watson recovering from surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee. He recently rejoined the team, however, and has been cleared to resume on-court activities. Watson doesn't produce many points and should be viewed as a low-end Fantasy option in deeper formats when he is active.
News: Utah guard Earl Watson, who did not play Wednesday at Brooklyn, took one step closer to returning to action Wednesday, reports the Salt Lake Tribune. Watson has rejoined teammates and has been cleared to resume on-court activities.
Analysis: Watson has yet to play this season while recovering from surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee. Watson is expected to serve as the team's backup point guard once he returns from the injury after playing in that capacity last season. He averaged a quality 20.7 minutes per game last year and could come close to that total again this season as starter Mo Williams is known to be injury prone. Watson doesn't produce many points and should be viewed as a low-end Fantasy option in deeper formats when he is active.
News: Utah guard Earl Watson missed Monday's game at Toronto while having his surgically-repaired right knee evaluated in Southern California, the The Salt Lake Tribune reports. Watson has yet to play this season while recovering from surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee. He is expected to rejoin the team Tuesday at Boston, but his playing status is unclear.
Analysis: Watson is expected to serve as the team's backup point guard once he returns from the injury after playing in that capacity last season. He averaged a quality 20.7 minutes per game last year and could come close to that total again this season as starter Mo Williams is known to be injury prone. Watson doesn't produce many points and should be viewed as a low-end Fantasy option in deeper formats when he is active.

Watson thinks he's close to being ready and the Jazz are going to need him with Mo Williams likely out against Goran Dragic and the Suns.
Analysis: Watson will become the regular backup to Williams once everyone is healthy. For now, it is wait-and-see for Watson, who probably isn't as ready to play as he says he is. Fantasy owners in the deepest of leagues should be paying attention to what happens for Watson Saturday.
News: Utah guard Earl Watson, who is likely out until at least late November after having surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee, is building endurance and strength in that knee, reports the Salt Lake Tribune Wednesday.
Analysis: Watson is steadily showing improvement and could be ready to return to the Jazz before long. Watson is expected to back up Mo Williams when that happens and would likely only carry low-end Fantasy value.
News: Utah guard Earl Watson participated in on-court workouts last week for the first time since having surgery in April to repair the torn medial meniscus in his knee. Watson was able to run and cut during drills, but there is still no timetable for his return to full practice with the Jazz.
Analysis: Watson's status for the start of the regular season remains uncertain as he has not played in a game since April 8. The 33-year-old was limited to just 50 games last year because of the knee issue as he served as Utah's backup point guard. He appears destined for the same role this year as he is not a valuable scoring threat, though he does have the ability find open teammates. He should be bypasses in all Fantasy drafts.
News: The Jazz announced on Monday that guard Earl Watson, who suffered a knee injury on Sunday against the Spurs, had an MRI which revealed a torn meniscus in his knee that will require surgery. The team says he is out indefinitely.
Analysis: Watson has been the team's primary backup point guard, this season, however they will need to find another option to fill that role now. The Jazz have not said how long he is expected to be out, but a similar injury has Knicks guard Jeremy Lin sidelined for six weeks, so it seems likely that Watson is done for the season. We will stay updated on his status, however Watson is only a low-end Fantasy option even when healthy.
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson was unable to finish Sunday's game against the Spurs after suffering a right knee injury, and was seen after the game in a wheelchair, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. Watson played just five minutes in the game, and left the arena on crutches. He will have an MRI on the knee. "When I came down after shooting a layup, I feel like I came down wrong. I felt my knee lock up," he said.
Analysis: Watson has been the teams primary back up point guard, and while he generally gets decent minutes, he is only averaging 2.3 points and 3.9 assists per game over the last 10 games. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status moving forward, however even when healthy he is not a viable Fantasy option.
News: Jazz guard C.J. Watson was able to get back on the court for Friday night's contest against the Nuggets. Watson, who missed the last six games due to an ankle injury, failed to score while logging two minutes in garbage time.
Analysis: Watson didn't stat in his return, but the fact that he was able to return is great news. However, the veteran is merely a reserve guard for the Jazz who should only be owned in the deepest of formats.
News: As expected, Jazz guard Earl Watson was unable to suit up for Thursday's game at Sacramento, as he continues to deal with a sprained ankle that has cost him over two weeks of action now.
Analysis: Fantasy owners should continue to monitor what happens with Watson, and hopefully he can return soon. When healthy and active, he has minimal Fantasy value in the majority of leagues.
News: The Jazz report Thursday that guard Earl Watson (ankle) is unlikely to play in Thursday's game at Sacramento. Coach Tyrone Corbin said if the team can buy time for Watson "we will. We are playing well right now."
Analysis: Fantasy owners should continue to monitor what happens with Watson, and hopefully he can return soon. When healthy and active, he has minimal Fantasy value in the majority of leagues.

Analysis: Fantasy owners should continue to monitor what happens with Watson, and hopefully he can return soon. When healthy and active, he has minimal Fantasy value in the majority of leagues.
News: Utah guard Earl Watson received a DNP - coach's decision on Tuesday night against Oklahoma City. He has been dealing with an ankle sprain as well.
Analysis: Watson could also be out of the rotation for the Jazz, which would also hurt his low Fantasy value. At this stage of the season owners shouldn't be paying attention to Watson in most leagues.
News: The Jazz report that guard Earl Watson (sprained left ankle) will be a game-time decision for Tuesday night's game against Oklahoma City.
Analysis: Fantasy owners should continue to monitor what happens with Watson, and hopefully he can return against the Thunder. When healthy and active, he has minimal Fantasy value in the majority of leagues.
News: The Deseret News reports that Jazz guard Earl Watson could return for Tuesday's game against the Thunder. Watson has been out with an ankle injury.
Analysis: Fantasy owners should continue to monitor what happens with Watson, and hopefully he can return against the Thunder. When healthy and active, he has minimal Fantasy value in the majority of leagues.
News: The Jazz kept guard Earl Watson inactive on Sunday against the Lakers, as he continues to deal with an ankle injury. He is technically active and in uniform, however the team will only use him in an absolute emergency.
Analysis: Watson isn't a reliable scoring threat and has reached double digits in points only twice this season. The 32-year-old is averaging just 3.1 points overall this season, while playing 21.5 minutes a night. Continue to leave him untouched in all Fantasy formats.
News: Utah guard Earl Watson was ruled out for Saturday's game against Golden State with a troublesome ankle injury, the team announced. Watson has now missed the past two games and is considered day to day with a sprained left ankle.
Analysis: Watson isn't a reliable scoring threat and has reached double digits in points only twice this season. The 32-year-old is averaging just 3.1 points overall this season, but is posting just 21.5 minutes a night. Continue to leave him untouched in all Fantasy formats.
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson, who suffered a sprained left ankle on Wednesday, was unable to play on Thursday against the Timberwolves. He is being considered day to day with the injury.
Analysis: Watson is averaging 3.2 point and 4.5 assists per game for the Jazz this season, as he has been the primary back up for them. Those numbers are solid for a backup, but they dont do much in Fantasy, so continue to consider him just a low-end Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson left Wednesday's game with 7:15 left in the first half after spraining his left ankle. He didn't return to the court. Utah ended up losing to Phoenix, 120-111. Watson took one shot in the game and missed it. He finished with zero points, three rebounds, one steal and a team-high five assists.
Analysis: The fact Watson led his team in assists with just eight minutes on the court is a scary thought. Entering Wednesday, Watson had been averaging 3.2 points and 4.5 assists per game for the Jazz. While his assist total is pretty solid considering his role with the team, Watson doesn't do enough to warrant much Fantasy attention. Owners can continue to ignore him in all formats.
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson didn't do much with his 23 minutes on the court on Wednesday night. He missed all three of his shots from the field, finishing with no points. He sat out practice on Tuesday because his knee was sore, but he said it wouldn't limit him. Watson was tied for a team-high five assists and grabbed four rebounds for the Jazz as they beat the Bobcats, 99-93.
Analysis: Watson has been averaging 2.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.4 boards over his last five outings. Considering he's the backup point guard and gets around 23 minutes per outing, those numbers aren't too bad. But in terms of Fantasy value Watson doesn't have much and should be ignored in most formats at this time.
News: The Deseret News reports that Jazz guard Earl Watson sat out the second half of Tuesday's practice after banging up his knee a bit, but said he's fine for Wednesday at Charlotte and called the injury "nothing." He went through shootaround as well, and could be called on for extra action along with backup Jamaal Tinsley depending on how Devin Harris (knee) holds up.
Analysis: Even if Watson does see increased action with Harris at less than 100 percent, he still has minimal Fantasy value. He should not be used in most formats when healthy and active.
News: When starting guard Devin Harris went down on Monday with a knee injury, it could have signaled a newly increased role for backup Earl Watson, who has yet to start a game this season. Watson didnt do much to make a convincing argument for his inclusion in the starting lineup in the game, as he scored just five points on 1 of 2 shooting with only one assist in 23 minutes as the Jazz won, 109-100.
Analysis: Watsons status moving forward is going to be directly tied to Harris, as Watson would almost certainly be in line for more minutes if Harris injury is serious. Still, dont go rushing out to grab him, as Watson is already averaging 21.9 minutes per game and is averaging just 3.3 points and 4.4 assists per game. Watson could emerge as a useful low-end Fantasy option, so keep an eye on Harris status moving forward.
News: Jazz guard continues to do his work as a reserve, backing up starter Devin Harris while still receiving a healthy amount of minutes off the bench. On Wednesday against the Timberwolves, Watson, played 20 minutes, scoring just two points by adding five assists and three steals in a 100-98 last-second loss.
Analysis: Watson is averaging 23.0 points per game over the last five, however he is averaging just 2.6 points and 3.4 assists in that time span. Watson has shown he can be a useful low-end Fantasy option at times, however he simply is not consistent enough to be worthy of a spot as anything more than a reserve in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Riding adrenaline (and some pre-game treatment on his sprained ankle,) Jazz G Earl Watson took a close game and broke it open for Utah on Friday against the Lakers. Watson, who was not even expected to play in the game with the ankle injury sustained on Wednesday, scored eight points and had six assists in the fourth quarter as the Jazz beat the Lakers for the first time in three tries this season, 96-87. Watson finished the game with just the eight points but 11 assists overall in 26 minutes off the bench, as the Jazz took what was a tied game at the end of the third quarter and broke it open. "Man, Earl isn't even supposed to be playing right now, that's the crazy thing about it. He's out there on one leg, having an amazing game for us," Jazz F Paul Millsap said.
Analysis: Watson puts up over four assists per game on the season, but that is pretty much where his Fantasy value ends. He scores less than four points per game and doesn't do much rebounding or anything else in the 20-22 minutes he gets most nights. While he continues to see normal minutes, consider the 32-year-old a low-end Fantasy option, despite the big performance.
News: Utah guard Earl Watson, originally thought doubtful for Saturday against the Lakers, told the Deseret News he expects to play against L.A. despite his ankle injury. Watson missed Thursday's game after suffering the ankle injury on Wednesday.
Analysis: Watson puts up over four assists per game on the season, but that is pretty much where his Fantasy value ends. He scores less than four points per game and doesn't do much rebounding or anything else over 20-22 minutes per night. While he continues to see normal minutes, consider the 32-year-old a low-end Fantasy option, when healthy.
News: Utah guard Earl Watson was not with the team on Thursday night after suffering an ankle injury on Wednesday versus Los Angeles. He is getting a second opinion on his ankle.
Analysis: Watson is averaging 3.2 points with 3.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds in his last five contests. While he continues to see his minutes on a nightly basis, consider the 32-year-old a low-end Fantasy option, when healthy.
News: Jazz G Earl Watson left Wednesday's game against the Clippers due to a left ankle sprain and did not return. He scored two points and dished out eight assists before the early exit. X-rays taken on his ankle after the game came back negative. The team announced that he'll travel and be re-evaluated in the morning, but is listed as doubtful for Thursday's game versus the Warriors.
Analysis: Watson is averaging 3.2 points with 3.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds in his last five contests. While he continues to see his minutes on a nightly basis, consider the 32-year-old a low-end Fantasy option, when healthy.
News: Jazz G Earl Watson was not much of a factor during Saturday night's contest against the Nets. Watson, who has been dealing with a bone bruise in his knee, finished with four points on 2 of 4 shooting in the 107-94 win. He also chipped in with six assists, four rebounds and a steal, while logging 20 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Watson was able to play through his bone bruise on Saturday night, which seems to suggest he will be OK moving forward. However, Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status heading into Fantasy Week 4 (Jan. 16-22). Still, even when healthy, Watson isn't really worth owning in the majority of formats.
News: According to multiple reports, Utah guard Earl Watson said he was going to play in Saturday's contest against New Jersey. He's been sidelined with a bone bruise.
Analysis: While this is good news for Watson and the Jazz, Fantasy owners should pay little attention to him. He is averaging 3.6 points and 4.3 assists per game this season, but poses minimal Fantasy value as a backup guard. When healthy, Watson holds minimal value and should be left on waivers in most leagues.
News: Utah G Earl Watson is considered a game-time decision for Saturday's game against New Jersey after an MRI revealed a bone bruise, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. Watson did not participate in the team's practice on Friday and is listed as day to day with the injury.
Analysis: Watson appears to have avoided a serious injury after leaving Wednesday's game against the Lakers. He is averaging 3.6 points and 4.3 assists per game this season, but poses minimal Fantasy value as a backup guard. When healthy, Watson should be left for deeper formats.
News: The Jazz announced Thursday that guard Earl Watson is getting an MRI on his injured knee. He is still listed as day to day and questionable for Friday against the Nets.
Analysis: Watson said he felt his knee "bend in" when he was injured Wednesday against the Lakers. He is hoping for the best and the MRI should reveal what he is dealing with. Watson is a veteran contributor for the Jazz, but his numbers won't impress in Fantasy. He has marginal Fantasy appeal when active.
News: Jazz G Earl Watson left Wednesday's game against the Lakers due to a sprained left knee and did not return. He scored four points in 22 minutes off the bench before being forced from the game. Watson, who is being considered day to day, also chipped in with four assists and three rebounds.
Analysis: Watson not expected to practice on Thursday but since the Jazz don't play again until Saturday, there is a good chance he does not miss more time. He is averaging 3.6 points with 4.3 assists and 1.8 rebounds through the first 10 games, and poses minimal Fantasy value as a back guard. When healthy, Watson should be left for the deepest of Fantasy formats.
News: Jazz G Earl Watson scored for the first time this season on Friday as the Jazz beat the 76ers 102-99. He put up nine points on three-of-five shooting, while adding a three pointer and four assists. He had gone scoreless in 38 minutes in the two prior games.
Analysis: Watson is a rock-solid backup point guard who limits mistakes, but he isnt much more than that, as hes shown so far. Hes a good play for an NBA team to have, but he has no Fantasy value in any format. Leave him on waivers.
News: Jazz G Earl Watson has agreed to return to Utah on a two-year deal, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. Watson has been with four teams over the last four years, and this will be the first time spending more than one year with a team since he spent the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons in Seattle.
Analysis: Watson is a rock-solid backup point guard who limits mistakes, but he isnt much more than that. He saw his minutes fall to 19.6 per game last year as he scored just 4.3 points per game with 3.5 assists. Unless he becomes a starter due to injury, the 32-year old is not worth considering in any Fantasy formats on Draft Day.
News: After playing in 80 games this season and backing up both Deron Williams and Devin Harris, Jazz points guard Earl Watson heads into unrestricted free agency with his future with the team in doubt. To a point. The Sports Xchange reports that he is the likeliest of the team's free agents to return for the 2011-12 season. He finished this season with a 4.3 points and 3.5 assists per game average, and he'll get a head start on training camp. Watson plans to play for Mexico -- where his mother was born -- in the Pan-Am Games this summer.
Analysis: Watson was a solid backup and had good performances when called upon this season when the starter was dealing with injury. He was consistent all season long, and even got the chance to start 13 games on the year. In that role, Watson averaged 8.5 points and 6.2 assists per game. Fantasy owners drafted him in the very late rounds -- 172.64 average draft position -- in CBSSports.com formats. He performed a bit better than those expectations, finishing in the top-100 of all guards in standard-scoring leagues. Still, Watson is a serviceable backup at best, but his stock as a free agent may rise if he plays well this summer. Keep an eye on the UCLA product moving forward, we view him as a marginal option heading into next year.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports Wednesday that Jazz guard Devin Harris will be out for Friday's game against the Lakers. Harris has been dealing with a hamstring injury and has missed the past four games. Earl Watson will start at point guard for the Jazz.
Analysis: Watson is worth adding in deeper leagues with Harris possibly out for the rest of the regular season. We consider Watson a sleeper to close the year since the Jazz have a need for his play, and the increased minutes should improve his value. On Monday against Washington, Watson had 13 points, nine assists and seven rebounds in 33 minutes.
News: With Devin Harris still sidelined with a ankle injury, Jazz guard Earl Watson got the start at point guard during Monday's 100-95 overtime loss to the Wizards. Watson scored 13 points in the contest, on 5 of 9 shooting from the field. He went 2 of 3 from downtown and also chipped in with nine assists, seven rebounds and a steal while logging 33 minutes. Watson is averaging 9.6 points, 4.6 assists and 3.0 rebounds over his last five contests.
Analysis: Watson continues to start for the injured Harris and will likely continue too as long as he remains sidelined. While his numbers aren't going to blow anyone away, Watson has been more than serviceable of late and could be a nice addition to owners in need of guard help in deeper formats. However, keep in mind if and when Harris does return, Watson's value will disappear.
News: The Jazz report that guard Devin Harris (right hamstring) is out for Monday night's game against Washington. This will be the fourth game Harris has missed with the injury. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Harris will see the doctor Monday about his hamstring, and he plans to play again this year. Earl Watson will again start for Harris against the Wizards.
Analysis: Watson is worth adding in deeper leagues with the chance that Harris remains out. If you're looking for a guard in the short-term, add Watson now since he's only owned in 5 percent of leagues on CBSSports.com. The Jazz have three games in Fantasy Week 23, and it's possible Watson could start all three.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Jazz G Devin Harris (hamstring) did not practice on Sunday. Coach Tyrone Corbin said that he is still uncertain as to when Harris might return. Earl Watson has been starting in his place.
Analysis: Watson could get another start on Monday night against Washington, but his production has been pedestrian in place of Harris. He manged just two points, five assists and two rebounds in place of Harris on Saturday against Dallas and is not a wise play at this point, especially with Harris capable of returning soon.
News: Starting for the injured Devin Harris (hamstring) Wednesday against the Thunder, Jazz guard Earl Watson did what he could while trying to contain the dynamic Russell Westbrook. He finished the night with 10 points on 3 of 4 shooting, assisting on another basket in the process. Watson was able to get his hands on three steals while adding a pair of rebounds on the defensive end of the floor in 33 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Watson was out-matched by Westbrook -- who scored 31 points -- for most of the night. Still, Watson created some turnovers in the rare start. Fantasy owners should only take advantage of him when Harris is out of the lineup. Otherwise, Watson doesn't see enough playing time on a nightly basis to warrant anything more than marginal Fantasy value at this point of the season.
News: The Jazz report Wednesday that guard Devin Harris will be a game-time decision for Wednesday's game at Oklahoma City. Harris left Monday's game against Memphis with a hamstring injury. If Harris is out then Earl Watson could start at point guard against the Thunder.
Analysis: Watson could have increased Fantasy value if Harris is out, especially for an extended period of time. Keep an eye on Harris' status and see how Watson does in his place before deciding if Watson is worth adding in the majority of leagues.
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson turned in another solid performance in Saturday's 109-102 win over the Kings. Watson, who was listed as questionable entering the game after getting stitches in his lip, finished with four points in the victory on 1 of 6 shooting from the field.
Analysis: Watson got some decent run while Devon Harris was coming off the bench, but has since returned to his reserve role. With Harris now starting, the veteran's minutes continue to be limited and as a result he hasn't been producing much. Watson is averaging just 2.4 points and 3.8 assists over his last five contests and should only be active in deeper formats heading into Fantasy Week 20 (March 7-13).
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson, who cut his lip Thursday night against Denver and received six stitches, will be in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Kings. Watson was being considered a game-time decision for the contest.
Analysis: Watson will play against the Kings and seems to be fine after busting his lip open against the Nuggets. Still, now that Devin Harris has been inserted into the starting lineup there aren't many minutes available for the veteran guard. Watson can be considered a low-end Fantasy option, whose value lies in deeper formats when healthy.
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson, who cut his lip Thursday night against Denver and received six stitches, did not practice Friday. He will be listed as a game-time decision for Saturday against Sacramento.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Watson and hope he is OK, but he has minimal Fantasy value as the No. 2 point guard for the Jazz behind Devin Harris. Watson should not be used in the majority of leagues when healthy.
News: Utah guard Earl Watson left Thursday's loss to the nuggets with 6:30 remaining in the fourth quarter to close a cut to his face, and he didn't return. He finished the night with three points and five assists in 15 minutes of action while backing up new starter Devin Harris.
Analysis: Watson has seen his minutes dwindle a bit once Devin Harris stepped into the starting lineup, as expected. The cut didn't seem to serious, though you never know with open wounds just as Warriors forward/center David Lee found out early this year after a cut was infected on his elbow, causing him to miss considerable time. Fantasy owners should not worry about Watson as much, considering he warrants marginal value at best as a backup to Harris. He should not be active on any Fantasy roster at this point.
News: Though he started Friday's game against the Pacers at point guard on the heels of the Deron Williams trade, Earl Watson didn't see a spike in his numbers. He scored two points on 1 of 4 shooting from the floor. Watson assisted on three baskets while pulling down three rebounds in the process. He also blocked a shot while playing 19 minutes in the win.
Analysis: Watson was in the starting lineup, but newly-acquired point guard Devin Harris finished the night with much more playing time (29 minutes) though it was his first game in a Utah uniform. Watson averages just under four points and three assists per game as a reserve, and he saw similar numbers on Friday night. We expect Harris to be starting sooner rather than later, so Watson's numbers should remain the same moving forward. Unfortunately for him, he won't have an increased role after the trade, so he remains a low-end Fantasy option moving forward.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the Jazz will start Earl Watson at point guard Friday night at Indiana, which is the first game without Deron Williams. Devin Harris, who was acquired in the trade from New Jersey, will come off the bench.
Analysis: The roles will eventually switch with Harris starting and Watson in reserve, but the Jazz will likely work Harris into the mix slowly. Fantasy owners in daily leagues can look at Watson as a good option Friday, but long-term he will remain a low-end option. Harris is the long-term answer at point guard for the Jazz.
News: Utah coach Ty Corbin said on Wednesday that the Jazz' point guard situation would be up for grabs with the team trading Deron Williams to the Nets for Derrick Favors and Devin Harris, reports the Deseret News. Harris won't be guaranteed the starting job with Earl Watson on the roster. Watson got the start on Wednesday in Dallas with Harris not yet being the with team. Watson played 37 minutes and struggled with his shot, going 3 for 11 and scoring seven points with five assists and four turnovers. Watson actually prefers coming off the bench. "I like my position coming off the bench, changing the game," he said before the game. "I'm comfortable with (being a backup). It's fun. To come in and play with a different type of energy, I think it's a unique position. It's a challenging position, but I embrace it."
Analysis: Corbin said before Wednesday's game that it might take Harris some time to become adept at running Utah's offense and he could go with Watson until Harris has a handle. Still, it is clear to almost everyone that Harris should be the starter. Watson was averaging just 5.3 points, 4.1 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game over his last 10 before Wednesday and he did little against the Mavericks to make his case to remain a starter. He really only has low-end Fantasy value.
News: For a second straight game, Utah guard Earl Watson has failed to score. He missed all three of his shots on Friday night against Phoenix. He added three assists, one rebound and one block in his 16 minutes of action. The Jazz would blow an early lead, and eventually lose to the Suns 95-83.
Analysis: Over his last five games, Watson is averaging 2.4 points, 3.4 assists and 2.6 boards per outing. He's getting just 16 minutes per game, and doesn't start often. But with new coach Tyrone Corbin running the show, Watson's playing time could change. It is something for Fantasy owners in the deepest of formats to watch, but the 10-year-veteran isn't worth too much attention in any format.
News: Utah guard Earl Watson tallied 11 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in the Jazz's 97-96 loss to Houston on Wednesday night. Watson connected on 5 of 12 shots from the field but missed all four 3-point attempts while just missing a triple-double. Watson logged 45 minutes as he received another start in place of injured starting point guard Deron Williams (wrist) and hit double digits for the fifth time this season.
Analysis: Watson has certainly taken advantage of Williams' injury and is averaging 8.5 points and 8.0 assists in his four games since taking over as starter. He is posting a solid 34.8 minutes per game in that span as Utah is 2-2 without Williams, its leading scorer. It's unclear when Williams will return but when he does, Watson will head back to the bench. Consider him an adequate replacement for now with decent Fantasy value in deeper leagues.
News: Utah guard Earl Watson again started in place of injured point guard Deron Williams on Monday night against Charlotte. Watson has been starting with Williams out and he showed Monday why he's so important to the team. Watson played 20 minutes and shot 2 of 2 from the field to score five points. He added six assists and three rebounds and had five personal fouls. Watson, however, played the role of team leader and floor general and the Jazz went plus-26 with him on the court. That is in stark contrast to backup Ronnie Price. Price went 1 for 9 from the field and scored two points and the Jazz were minus-21 with him on the floor.
Analysis: Watson got the start in the team's previous two games before Monday as well. He had 10 points and 13 assists in a Jan. 28 start against Minnesota. He had eight points, five assists and four rebounds on Sunday at the Warriors. We do not recommend him as much more than a stopgap measure for daily leagues, but he does have the ability to chip in decent figures across the board. Watson is important to the Jazz when Williams goes down but that still doesn't translate into much Fantasy value.
News: Despite the team's official media notes listing Jazz G Deron Williams (wrist) as 'out' on the injury report for Monday's game against Charlotte, the team's official website reports that he is 'doubtful' for the game. The team's media notes listed Earl Watson as the probable starter at point guard. Williams missed his second consecutive game on Sunday against Golden State with a strained tendon in his right wrist.
Analysis: Watson got the start in the team's last two games. He had 10 points and 13 assists in a Jan. 28 start against Minnesota. He had eight points five assists and four rebounds on Sunday at the Warriors. We do not recommend him as much more than a stopgap measure for daily leagues, but he does have the ability to chip in decent figures across the board.
News: According to the team's official media notes for Monday's game against Charlotte, Deron Williams is listed as 'out' on the team's injury report. Earl Watson is listed as the probable starter in his place. Williams missed his second consecutive game on Sunday against Golden State with a strained tendon in his right wrist.
Analysis: Watson had 10 points and 13 assists in a Jan. 28 start against Minnesota. He had eight points five assists and four rebounds on Sunday at the Warriors. We do not recommend him as much more than a stopgap measure for daily leagues, but he does have the ability to chip in decent figures across the board.
News: Starting in place of the injured Deron Williams (wrist), Jazz PG Earl Watson was the prototypical distributor the team needed to fend off the Timberwolves in Friday's matchup. Watson assisted on a season-high 13 baskets and took just eight shots in the process. He scored 10 points on 3 of 8 shooting, failing to connect on both of his attempts from beyond the arc although he hit some transition buckets. "When you get easy baskets in transition and get layups, it gives the guys confidence," Watson said. "It builds a rhythm and builds chemistry and makes everything easy." He added two rebounds and a steal in 39 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Not only did Watson dish out the season-high 13 assists, but he played more minutes than any other game of the year and notched his first double-double of the 2010-2011 campaign. Still, Watson averages just over 14 minutes per game this season with Williams healthy, and it appears the All-Star will be back sooner than later. Unless the wrist injury is worse than expected, Watson is nothing more than a marginal Fantasy reserve moving forward.
News: The Deseret News reports that Jazz PG Earl Watson will start on Wednesday against the Nets if the ill Deron Williams can't suit up.
Analysis: Watson is averaging 14.3 minutes, 3.1 points and 2.5 assists in relief of Williams this season, but could see a good chunk of action Wednesday if Williams is told to stay in bed. Only owners in the deepest of daily leagues should think about using Watson for this game.
News: Utah G Earl Watson matched his season high in scoring on Friday night against Memphis. He scored 12 points and also dished out three assists in the 110-99 loss. He went a perfect 5 for 5 from the field, including knocking down both of his shots from beyond the arc while playing 19 minutes off the bench. Waston also had three rebounds and a steal in the defeat. He is averaging 4.4 points with 2.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists over his last five contests.
Analysis: Watson continues to see about 14 minutes off the bench for the Jazz but his production has been sporadic. With all of the other scoring options on the Jazz, he usually gets lost in the fray but he showed on Friday night that he can contribute on nights when he is shooting well. Still, he has scored in double figures only two times this season and remains more of a low-end option for the deepest of Fantasy leagues at this point.
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson scored two points and had two assists in Saturday's 95-86 win over the Bucks. Watson played just 12 minutes in the contest and also chipped in with two rebounds and a block.
Analysis: Watson has only been seeing around 14 minutes a game this season as there isn't much playingtime left over when you backup Deron Williams. He is averaging just 2.7 points per game and is not worth using in most leagues heading into Week 9 (Dec. 20-26).
News: Utah guard Earl Watson played well off the bench spanning 27 minutes on Monday night in a victory over Milwaukee. Watson, who blocked an Earl Boykins -- one of the only players in the NBA shorter than Watson -- shot in the game, shot 5 of 8 from the field and 2 for 3 from deep to score 12 points. He added seven assists, six rebounds, two steals and the block.
Analysis: Watson's block of Boykins was short-on-short crime on Monday night. The diminutive Jazz guard saw a boost in minutes on Monday and rewarded Utah with an outstanding effort. Averaging just 2.3 points and 2.4 assists per game on the year over 12 minutes per night, Watson is going to have to show more before he's viable in Fantasy play.
News: Jazz guard Earl Watson started in place of the injured Deron Williams on Saturday night against the Clippers. Watson, who signed with the Jazz in the offseason, went 3 fro 7 from the field and hit 2 of his 3 foul shots. He had four assists, two boards, two steals and a block in his 21 minutes of action.
Analysis: Watson has averaged 7.4 points and 4.7 assists with Memphis, Denver, Seattle/Oklahoma City and the Pacers through his career. He's going to remain Williams' backup once the season begins and unless something happens to Williams, Watson's role will be limited. He won't be worth owning, let alone drafting, this season.
News: The Deseret News reports that the Jazz signed Earl Watson to a contract on Monday. He will report to training camp later in the week. In nine NBA seasons, Watson has averaged 7.4 points and 4.7 assists with Memphis, Denver, Seattle/Oklahoma City and the Pacers.
Analysis: Watson will provide a backup option behind Deron Williams at point guard for Utah. Unless something happens to Williams, we don't anticipate very many minutes for the veteran. He will not be worth owning in most leagues this fall.
News: The Sports Xchange reports that Pacers guard Earl Watson, who went from backup at point guard to starter this season, will be a free agent this offseason. Team officials have made it known that they want to re-sign Watson to a multi-year deal. The sticking point could be that Watson wants to play for a winning team. The Pacers haven't had a winning record since the 2005-06 season.
Analysis: Watson only averaged 7.8 points, 5.1 assists and 1.3 steals in 79 games last season. Keep an eye on where he lands, but he's a low-end Fantasy guard entering 2010-11 if he returns to the Pacers.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Pacers G Earl Watson has 19 assists and only two turnovers in the past two games.
Analysis: Although Watson has stepped up his production on the offensive end, he will probably see a decrease in value because T.J. Ford is likely to make a return during Fantasy Week 22 (March 22-28). Watson can only provide Fantasy value in the deepest of leagues at this point.
News: Pacers G Earl Watson had 11 points with eight assists in Sunday's game against Oklahoma City. It was the first time in three games that he cracked double figures in scoring.
Analysis: Watson had 11 assists in his previous game against Detroit and is getting a chance for some decent numbers with T.J. Ford sidelined. Ford could return at some point in Fantasy Week 22 (March 22-28), though, so Watson's overall appeal is limited to being a potential stopgap in deep leagues.
News: Pacers G Earl Watson had 15 points, five rebounds and three assists in Sunday's game against Milwaukee. It was his second straight game in double figures.
Analysis: Watson will be enjoying a Fantasy boost for the next week to 10 days after it was announced that T.J. Ford would miss 7-10 days with an injury Sunday. Watson got the majority of the minutes over A.J. Price and appears to be the player to benefit from a Fantasy standpoint.
News: Pacers point guard T.J. Ford is expected to miss seven to 10 days with a sore left groin. Coach Jim O'Brien made the announcement before Indiana played the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday. Ford was injured early in the first quarter of a loss to the Celtics in Boston on Friday night. O'Brien said that rookie A.J. Price will get into the mix at point guard along with Earl Watson.
Analysis: Ford was averaging 10.3 points and 3.8 assists in 41 games, including 10 starts. He was playing at a level useful for deeper leagues as a potential low-end starter, but this news rules him out for Fantasy Week 21 (March 15-21). Price and Watson will be inconsistent in his absence and are not advisable starts at guard in a Fantasy playoff scenario.
News: Pacers G Earl Watson had three points with two assists and a rebound in Wednesday's game in Portland. It was his third straight game with three points or fewer.
Analysis: Watson is starting and getting 30-plus minutes per game, but he rarely shoots the ball more than five times in a game and is averaging just 5.4 points to go with 5.0 assists in his last five games. He should not be activated in Fantasy right now.
News: Pacers PG Earl Watson had a solid game against the Bucks on Thursday, finishing with 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. In 39 minutes, he shot 5 of 7 from the field, 0 of 1 from 3-point range.
Analysis: Watson is playing well enough this month, averaging 10.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.0 assists in eight February games, scoring in double figures five times. However, it's still not enough production to make him a viable option in anything but deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Pacers PG Earl Watson scored 10 points against the Rockets on Saturday, his fourth double-figure output in his last five games. In 25 minutes, he took only six shots, but made three of them, including his only 3-point attempt. He added two rebounds and two assists.
Analysis: Watson is playing his best basketball of the season this month, averaging 11.8 points and 6.2 assists in five February games. Unfortunately, it's hard to figure what the Pacers will do with their point guard rotation once A.J. Price returns from a concussion, especially with how well T.J. Ford is playing. For now, Watson remains a viable Fantasy guard in deeper leagues. But that could change. Stay tuned.
News: Pacers guard Earl Watson had been missing time due to personal reasons but was back in action Tuesday against the Bulls. Watson played 34 minutes in the loss Tuesday and scored 14 points with six assists. He shot 6 of 11 from the field with a three and also turned the ball over five times.
Analysis: Watson is going to remain the team's starting point guard but Indiana is going to give more minutes to T.J. Ford once again. Watson will need to look for Ford over his shoulder. Averaging 13.3 points, 7.7 dimes and 2.3 rebounds per game in the last three that he's played, Watson still has plenty of Fantasy appeal for deeper leagues.
News: According to the Indianapolis Star, Pacers G Earl Watson will miss the team's next two games due personal reasons. He is expected to return for the team's Feb. 9 game against Chicago.
Analysis: Watson is coming off an excellent performance against Toronto, scoring 15 points with 11 assists. But he is a very inconsistent Fantasy producer and for that reason is starting in under 10 percent of CBSSports.com leagues. Keep him reserved until after the All-Star break.
News: Pacers G Earl Watson scored 11 points as the Pacers fell to Toronto 117-102 on Sunday. Watson played 34 minutes and shot 5 of 14 from the floor. He added three rebounds and six assists.
Analysis: Watson is averaging 6.6 points per game over his last five games. He does not provide much Fantasy value except for the deepest of leagues where he can grab some rebounds and give some assists.
News: Indiana G Earl Watson played with a sprained finger on his right hand in Friday's 94-73 loss to Cleveland. Watson played 28 minutes going 2 of 5 from the field for four points. He added five rebounds and four assists.
Analysis: Watson has averaged 5.5 points per game over his last four games. He does not have much Fantasy appeal except for the deepest of leagues where he can grab some rebounds and make some assists.
News: Pacers PG Earl Watson got the start on Wednesday and played a very successful game in the loss at Orlando. Watson stole six balls over 40 minutes and scored 11 points on 4 of 8 shooting. Watson added four assists and four rebounds.
Analysis: Watson is averaging around eight points, six assists and 1.5 steals per game over his last five contests. He's been starting consistently since January began and his numbers are still underwhelming. You can use out of him in deeper leagues but that is about it.
News: Pacers PG Earl Watson, who scored 18 points back on Dec. 22, is averaging 7.0 points in seven games since. He had six points, four rebounds and four assists Tuesday against the Magic.
Analysis: Watson will get a handful of assists as the starter, enough to make him useful in Head-to-Head leagues that score extra for assists, but he's just a low-end option even in those formats. He just doesn't contribute enough points to make him a worthwhile Fantasy option.
News: Pacers PG Earl Watson, making his third straight start in place of an ineffective T.J. Ford, had 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists Tuesday at Boston. He had a combined seven points, eight rebounds and nine assists in his first two starts.
Analysis: Watson has always been a good assists man when given enough playing time, but you normally can't count on him for so many points or rebounds. Until he puts together a few more of these performances, he should remain on waivers in standard Fantasy leagues.
News: The Pacers replaced T.J. Ford in the starting lineup for Saturday's game at San Antonio with Earl Watson. Watson had just 3 points with 5 assists in 23 minutes. Ford played 25 minutes off the bench and managed 9 points with 6 rebounds.
Analysis: Watson is getting a look as the starting point guard, but there is still no indication he will keep the job for very long. What is certain is that neither guard looks very appealing from a Fantasy standpoint. Leave them both reserved until one can get on any sort of an extended run.
News: Pacers PG Earl Watson scored 10 points in Friday's loss to the Grizzlies. It was his best game since his 15-point output on Dec. 2 and only his second trip to double digits since Nov. 14.
Analysis: Watson picks up solid assist numbers now and again, but he's not a consistent scorer by any means. He remains just a low-end flier in super-deep leagues.
News: Indiana PG Earl Watson (hamstring) was able to return to action on Friday against the Nets. He scored four points, added four assists and two rebounds.
Analysis: Watson came into Friday's game averaging 7.4 points, 3.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game on the season as the backup to T.J. Ford. He really only has minor Fantasy value for deeper leagues while Ford is healthy. Think of Watson as just a low-end Fantasy option.
News: The Indianapolis Star is reporting Pacers PG Earl Watson is out for Wednesday against Portland due to a hamstring injury. Rookie A.J. Price will see more minutes as the backup to starter T.J. Ford.
Analysis: Watson is averaging 7.4 points, 3.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game on the season as the backup to Ford. He really only has minor Fantasy value for deeper leagues while Ford is healthy. The rookie Price is getting just over six minutes per game and has only played in five games this season for the Pacers. He averages 3.2 points and almost one three per game over those five games. He is not yet a viable Fantasy option in any league.
News: Pacers PG Earl Watson scored seven points on 2 of 4 shooting over 18 minutes on Friday against Utah. Watson grabbed four rebounds and dished out four assists with a steal.
Analysis: Watson scored 15 points in his last game at Sacramento but had been in single digits since Nov. 14 before that. Watson can take advantage of T.J. Ford's poor play right now but we don't expect him to ever be anything more than the lowest of the low-end Fantasy options.
News: Indiana PG Earl Watson played 35 minutes off the bench on Wednesday in a win over the Warriors. Watson played well, scoring 16 points on 4 of 6 shooting with three threes. He added three steals and six rebounds.
Analysis: Watson played more minutes with T.J. Ford getting injured in the game. Watson took advantage of the playing time but since we can't expect that to continue, he remains a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Indiana PG Earl Watson out-played T.J. Ford on Wednesday against the Hawks. Watson dropped 20 points on 7 of 8 shooting with three threes in 25 minutes.
Analysis: Ford struggled big time on Wednesday and is dealing with a hamstring injury. If Watson continues to play this way, he may find himself starting. Until that happens, however, he has low-end Fantasy appeal.
News: The Pacers are expected to play without starter Mike Dunleavy (knee), first-round draft pick Tyler Hansbrough (shin), backup guard Travis Diener (toe) and free agent guard Earl Watson (personal reasons) when they host Chicago in their preseason opener Friday night. Starting forward Troy Murphy is listed as questionable with a sprained left ankle.
Analysis: The team said on July 31 that Hansbrough would be out for up to two months, though Hansbrough wasn't sure what his timetable was. He is expected to be ready to play in some preseason games and should be fine for the start of the regular season. There is some sleeper potential here, but Hansbrough won't be worth anything more than a very late-round Fantasy pick as a rookie. We don't expect much out of Diener or Watson this season.
News: InsideHoops.com reports that the Pacers announced Tuesday that they signed veteran point guard Earl Watson to a multi-year deal. Terms of the contract were not released. "We're very glad to have Earl as part of our team," said Pacers President of Basketball Larry Bird. "I've been watching him for years. He's a solid point guard that we know can help us on the defensive end."
Analysis: Watson averaged 6.6 points and 5.8 assists last season as a backup role player in Oklahoma City. He is expected to play a similar role in Indiana and is not much of a Fantasy option.
News: The Indiana Pacers are not bringing back guard Jarrett Jack and may sign Earl Watson to replace him. The Pacers said Monday that they will not match the offer sheet Toronto issued to Jack, a restricted free agent. Oklahoma City waived Watson last week. His agent, Todd Ramasar, said Watson will be sign a one-year deal and join Indiana by the end of this week. He would not disclose terms.
Analysis: Watson, an eight-year NBA veteran, appeared in 68 games last season and averaged 6.6 points and 5.8 assists. He could play a bigger role in the Indiana back court this season, but is not going to be much more than a low-end starter to be used based upon matchups from time to time.
News:The Oklahoman reports that Earl Watson it remains a mystery why Earl Watson is not getting any playing time. Tuesdays 107-89 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers marked the sixth straight game Watson didnt play.
Analysis: Thunder coach Scott Brooks insists the demotion is not personal. Watson seconded that stance, saying there is no rift between player and coach and that no behind-closed-doors altercation or incident of any kind led to the change. Needless to say, Watson is not worth owning in any Fantasy format at the moment.
News: The Oklahoman reports Thunder guard Earl Watson, who had 11 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals Sunday against the Sixers, said his thumb injury likely will not fully heal until July. He has not missed time with the injury.
Analysis: Watson has lost most of his Fantasy value this season with the emergence of rookie Russell Westbrook. It seems like Watson will play through the injury, but he is a low-end Fantasy guard at best. Only use Watson in deeper leagues at this point and hope the thumb injury doesn't rob him of any time he will get for the rest of this season playing behind Westbrook.
News: Thunder PG Earl Watson, who had to get stitches above his eye after a collision in practice Monday, played 17 minutes off the bench Tuesday against the Lakers. He finished with one point, five assists and three rebounds.
Analysis: Watson has settled into a backup point guard role since Russell Westbrook has really taken off in his rookie season. Watson no longer gets consistent enough statistics to deserve a roster spot in standard Fantasy leagues, but he can contribute nice assist totals from time to time.
News:Thabo Sefolosha made an impact in his first practice with the Oklahoma City Thunder, right above Earl Watson's eye. One of two players acquired by the Thunder at the trade deadline, Sefolosha split open the area around Watson's right eyebrow with an elbow as he drove to the basket during practice Monday. Watson had to leave the court and get three stitches before returning in a grey hooded sweatshirt and a bandage over his eyebrow. "Just like a little welcome, like, 'I'm out here,"' Sefolosha said jokingly.
Analysis: Watson appears to be OK and only missed the end of practice as a precaution. Watson has settled into a backup point guard role since Russell Westbrook has really taken off in his rookie season. It seems only an injury will get Watson back into the starting lineup, so he has low-end Fantasy appeal.
News: Thunder G Earl Watson had just three points and five assists in Saturday's game at Golden State. He is averaging just 5.4 points and 5.0 assists over his last five games.
Analysis: Westbrook is getting around 35 minutes per game and is part of the team's young core of building blocks for the future along with Kevin Durant and Jeff Green. His role should remain prominent in the second half and he'll make an outstanding No. 2 guard the rest of the way even though he was drafted in the middle to late rounds in most drafts. Watson, meanwhile, is going to play a reduced bench role as long as Westbrook remains healthy.
News: Thunder G Russell Westbrook had 21 points, 12 rebounds and three assists in Wednesday's game in Portland. It tied a career high for him in rebounds. It was his team's last game prior to the All-Star break. He is averaging 15.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.2 assists over his last five games. Veteran Earl Watson continues to back Westbrook up and is averaging just 9.0 points, 6.8 assists and 2.4 rebounds in that same span, getting around 27 minutes per game off the bench.
Watson, meanwhile, is someone to stash in deeper leagues in the hopes that a trade is made prior to the Feb. 19 deadline where he can possibly wind up with a primary role again.
News: Thunder G Earl Watson had a double-double off the bench Friday against Portland. He had 12 points and 11 assists in 33 minutes of action. He had 12 points with eight assists in 23 minutes in his previous game.
Analysis: Watson can be a productive player, but his role decreased significantly when the team decided to go with younger Russell Westbrook as the primary point guard. Now, Watson cannot be trusted to produce on a consistent basis because his role can be a bit erratic off the bench. He should be viewed as a low-end stopgap option for deeper formats.
News:The Oklahoman reports that Thunder coach Scott Brooks is thinking about his options when it comes to replacing Desmond Mason, who is out for the season. Brooks said he could go big and start either Nenad Krstic or Chris Wilcox. He could go small and start Earl Watson or Chucky Atkins. "It could be very flexible," Brooks said. "It could be game-to-game. It could be a few games. Or it could be we're on a roll (so stay with the same lineup). Our guys practice with each other and against each other all year. We just ask them to play hard and play together no matter who is out there."
Analysis: Watson was the starting point guard earlier in the season, but he was just a placeholder for rookie Russell Westbrook. Now, Watson sees some time at the point, some at two guard and could see some at the three. His role as part of a possible starter-by-committee approach doesn't exactly make him much more appealing in Fantasy.
News: Thunder PG Earl Watson contributed nine points and two assists in 26 minutes off the bench Monday against the Nets. Watson has failed to score in double-figures in four of his last seven games. He is averaging 7.6 points per game in that span.
Analysis: Watson is averaging a season-high 7.5 points in January, but that is still not going to get Fantasy owners to jump out of their chair. The arrival of rookie Russell Westbroook has turned Watson into a bench player and marginal contributor. He is of the low-end variety in Fantasy.
News: Thunder PG Earl Watson scored two points and dished out six assists on Sunday in a loss to Miami. Watson was 1-for-3 from the field with a steal.
Analysis: Watson doesn't often play too many minutes and does even less with what he's given. He's averaging six points, seven assists and three boards per game over his last five and should be avoided in all but the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: Thunder PG Earl Watson started and played 43 minutes against the Bulls in an overtime win on Saturday. Watson scored just four points on 2-of-10 shooting but did contribute big time with 11 assists and six boards.
Analysis: Watson is never going to be much of a scorer for the Thunder as he's averaging just 7.4 points per night over the last five games. That comes with 6.8 assists, however, and that is where he'll make his Fantasy living. Plus, he's a decent rebounder for a little guy. Watson still plays decent minutes even though he no longer starts and is a decent low-end source of assists in Rotisserie leagues. Beware of his low scoring and field-goal percentage, though.
News: Thunder PG Earl Watson played 35 minutes off the bench in Wednesday's defeat of the Golden State Warriors. Watson, who normally gets around 25 minutes per night, scored 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting with six assists.
Analysis: Watson is not recommending in anything but the deepest of Fantasy leagues. He saw an added boost to his minutes on Wednesday but that doesn't really figure to continue. Watson still plays decent minutes even though he no longer starts and is a decent low-end source of assists in Rotisserie leagues. Beware of his low scoring and field-goal percentage, though.

Analysis: Watson has been replaced in the starting lineup by rookie Russell Westbrook and that has made him almost an obsolete option in Fantasy hoops. He is still getting around 25 minutes per game, though, and while he is going to kill you in scoring, he can help out as a cheap way to make up ground in assists.
News: Thunder G Earl Watson scored 11 points in Friday's game at Orlando, playing 20 minutes off the bench. It was the first time in 12 games he cracked double figures.
Analysis: Watson has been moved to the bench since the coaching change, something that was anticipated coming into the season with Russell Westbrook getting drafted. This seems to be the role he stands to see the rest of his time with the Thunder, making him a very low end Fantasy option.

He played 39 minutes, scoring only two points on 1-of-5 shooting. He also had six rebounds and three steals.
Analysis: Watson remains a poor scorer with an awful field-goal percentage, but Scott Brooks, the Thunder's new coach, at least seems interested in giving him playing time. With minutes, he can serve as a nice assists specialist in Rotisserie leagues, but he remains a low-end Fantasy guard for now.

Analysis: Watson certainly knows how to distribute the ball, but he has struggled with poor shooting and turnovers this season, and his opportunities will only decrease as rookie Russell Westbrook begins to solidify his role. The Thunder have rookie Russell Westbrook playing well and he could take his starting job shortly. Both are worth owning in leagues of 12-plus teams, but let this situation shake itself out to see who is worth starting.

Analysis: This certainly looks like a timeshare to start the season, which limits each of them in Fantasy. Westbrook has the better upside, but Watson has the starting job for now. Both are worth owning in leagues of 12-plus teams, but let this situation shake itself out to see who is worth starting. Rookies tend to be very erratic.

News: Reports out of Oklahoma City are that head coach P.J. Carlesimo has not decided on a starting lineup for the season opener yet. However, injuries could decide it for him. Power forward Chris Wilcox is dealing with a hamstring injury and is not quite 100 percent yet. Nick Collison is dealing with a hyperextended knee, Earl Watson is dealing with a strained calf and Joe Smith is getting used to playing with a mask after suffering a fractured nose.

Analysis: Watson really meshed well with young players Kevin Durant and Jeff Green in the second half of the season and will likely head into the 2008-09 season regular season with a starting job. For that reason, he'll be worth a pick in the middle rounds as a No. 4 guard.

Analysis: Watson has upped his assist totals in recent games, but his offensive inconsistency and overall erratic production makes him useful as no more than a low-end Fantasy starter. He's not a long-term solution.
News:Earl Watson required stitches at halftime of Friday's game at Phoenix because of a cut above his left eye. He finished with 7 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
Analysis: Watson was coming off his first career triple-double and while he didn't continue his offensive streak, he did manage to remain active on the glass and with assists. He hasn't scored in double figures in three straight games since the beginning of December and he's not a player who can be relied upon heavily in Fantasy.
News:Earl Watson had 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, leading the revitalized Sonics to a 105-92 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night. "It's something you always want to get, a triple-double," Watson said, "but it was even more important that we got another win."
Analysis: Watson hadn't had as much as a double-double since Jan. 16 and he hasn't scored in double figures in three straight games since the beginning of December. He's not a player who can be relied upon heavily in Fantasy despite what this triple-double indicates.
News: Sonics G Earl Watson had nine points with eight assists in Saturday's win over the Knicks. He also added two rebounds and was 1-for-2 from beyond the arc.
Analysis: Watson continues to start for the Sonics, but he can only do so much for Fantasy owners while he continues to split minutes with Luke Ridnour and Delonte West. View him as a low-end Fantasy starter, best used as a stopgap.
News: Sonics PG Earl Watson scored five points Thursday against the Cavs, but finished with 12 assists in 28 minutes. Watson, who also had three rebounds, hadn't had a 10-plus assist game in eight contests.
Analysis: The 12 assists were a season-high for Watson, who has managed 11 assists four times this season. He continues to start for Seattle and has proven to be the team's best point guard despite sharing minutes with Luke Ridnour and Delonte West. Treat him as a No. 4 Fantasy guard.
News: Sonics PG Earl Watson gave his usual 10-point, eight-assist performance Sunday against the Kings. He has averaged 10.0 points and 7.3 assists over his last seven games.
Analysis: Watson has only the one double-double all season, so he clearly doesn't do much in the way of points or rebounds. If you play in a league that rewards assists extra, though, he deserves to start as a No. 4 Fantasy guard.
News: Sonics PG Earl Watson had 10 points, six assists and two rebounds while starting at point guard once again Wednesday against Houston. Backup Luke Ridnour had 10 points with eight assists in 24 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Watson and Ridnour split their minutes almost 50-50 Wednesday and its for this reason that neither player can be trusted on a consistent basis at this point. Watson is the starter and the slightly more reliable Fantasy producer at this stage, but remember the starting job used to belong to Ridnour.
News: Sonics PG Earl Watson had nine points and nine rebounds in only 25 minutes Monday at Houston, giving him nearly his second double-double in four games.
Analysis: Watson has only the one double-double all season, so he clearly doesn't do much in the way of points or rebounds. If you play in a league that rewards assists extra, though, he deserves to start as a No. 4 Fantasy guard.
News: Sonics G Earl Watson had 10 points with six assists, four rebounds and two steals Saturday at Dallas. He averaged 9.8 ppg, 8.5 apg and 2.5 rpg in four games this past week.
Analysis: Watson continues to start for the Sonics at point guard and for that reason deserves some attention in larger leagues as at least a low-end Fantasy stopgap. In Fantasy Week 13 (Jan. 21-27), the Sonics have two games against a tough Rockets team and another against a stingy Hawks defense. That makes Watson a player to stay away from this week.
News: Sonics PG Earl Watson had eight assists to go with six points Friday at Memphis. He's had at least eight assists in three straight games.
Analysis: Watson even had a 17-point, 11-assist performance in his last game Wednesday at New Orleans. He's averaging 8.5 points, 6.0 assists and 2.3 rebounds in January and is a low-end starter that is best used as an occasional stopgap when he's playing well -- as he is now.

News: Sonics G Earl Watson scored five points on just 2-for-10 shooting from the field in Friday's loss to Dallas. He's made just 4-of-23 shots over his last three games.
Analysis: Watson is a big Fantasy headache because he can produce solid lines, but then he goes into prolonged funks. He's in a crowded backcourt situation with Delonte West and Luke Ridnour. Use him when he's hot.
News: Sonics PG Earl Watson scored 20 points with eight assists and seven rebounds in Thursday's loss at Phoenix. He had 18 points with seven assists to start the week vs. Philadelphia.
Analysis: Watson is a big Fantasy headache because he can produce lines like this when he's given the chance, but is in a crowded back court with Delonte West and Luke Ridnour. Use him while he's hot, but expect him to get back to irregularity very soon.
News: Sonics PG Earl Watson started and scored 18 points Monday against the 76ers. He also dished out seven assists and grabbed three rebounds in 35 minutes. It was the fifth straight game he totaled five or more assists. He has 36 assists in that span and just 11 turnovers.
Analysis: Watson is splitting time in the backcourt with Delonte West at this time as Luke Ridnour is out with injury. Once Ridnour is healthy, who knows how the Sonics will use their three point guards. We can only imagine that Watson's minutes will drop. For now, he remains a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Sonics PG Earl Watson has managed just one double-digit scoring output in his last six games.
Analysis: Watson started off the month of December by scoring in double figures in four straight games and five of his first six, but it's been down hill since then. At the moment, he isn't a player we recommend using as anything more than a No. 4 guard in Fantasy.
News: Sonics G Earl Watson has scored at least 11 points in five out of six December games. He's averaging 11.8 ppg and 6.3 apg with 4.3 rpg in those games.

Analysis: Watson didn't start the game as Damien Wilkins got a look at the PG position for the Sonics, but Watson was clearly the more effective player as he was 7-of-11 from the field compared to Wilkins' 3-of-12. With Luke Ridnour sidelined with a quad injury, Watson should get plenty of chances to show what he can provide over the next few weeks. If you need help at the PG position, he might provide a nice temporary stop-gap.
News: Sonics PG Earl Watson scored 11 points with three assists and two rebounds in Monday's loss at Memphis after he scored just three points on 1-for-7 shooting Saturday.
Analysis: Watson continues to start at point guard for the Sonics, but is averaging just 6.5 ppg and 6.6 apg this season. He also picks up a couple of rebounds per game, but should only be considered a low-end Fantasy starter in leagues of 12-plus teams.
News: Sonics PG Luke Ridnour made his first start of the regular season Sunday vs. Detroit, scoring four points and distributing seven assists. The Sonics rearranged their depth chart with Earl Watson going from starter to third string. Delonte West is still the backup.
Analysis: Ridnour had seen very limited playing time while dealing with a broken nose suffered during the preseason that has forced him to wear a mask (a la Rip Hamilton). He has had some trouble adjusting to the mask, but looked comfortable on Sunday without the mask. This situation is by no means settled and all three guards figure to see playing time and will therefore cut into each other's Fantasy appeal. Watson is currently on the bottom of the totem pole, however, and is not a very appealing Fantasy starter once again.
News: Damien Wilkins had 21 points and reserve Delonte West chipped in 19 for Seattle in Wednesday's season opener at Denver, with Luke Ridnour sitting out while he gets used to a plastic mask he's forced to wear after breaking his nose this preseason. Earl Watson started at point guard and finished 1-for-8 from the field with just three points. He did add seven assists and three rebounds, though.
Analysis: West was 8-for-13 from the field and also had five assists. He really outplayed Earl Watson, who started at point guard, and has likely earned himself a more prominent role. It will be interesting to see how all three guards fair once Ridnour is able to play again. As of right now, you'd have to consider Watson third on the Fantasy totem pole.
News: According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Earl Watson likely will be the Sonics' starting point guard Wednesday against the Denver Nuggets as incumbent Luke Ridnour recovers from a broken nose.
Analysis: Watson might be starting for now, but expect Ridnour to regain his starting spot once his nose has healed sufficiently for him not to have to wear a mask.
News: Sonics PG Earl Watson dished out a game-high 14 assists in Tuesday night's 126-122 loss to the Warriors in preseason action.
Analysis: Watson remains a backup to Luke Ridnour at point guard in Seattle and so his Fantasy value is restricted by the amount of minutes he will get. Consider him a late-round draft pick in all Fantasy formats.
News: Sonics PG Earl Watson played 28 minutes starting at point guard in place of Luke Ridnour on Friday. He had nine points, six assists, five rebounds, four steals and only two turnovers.
Analysis: A handy little game for a handy little guy. Still, Watson clearly backs up Ridnour in Seattle, limiting his Fantasy appeal. Draft him late in Fantasy as a low-end guard.
News: Sonics G Earl Watson (ankle) is expected to be ready for training camp this summer after missing the final five games of the regular season.

News: According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Sonics G Earl Watson (ankle) will need to wear a protective boot for the next 4-6 weeks.
Analysis: Watson is clearly out for the season and should already have been reserved in all leagues. He should be fine for the start of next season, though, and will be worth a selection as a low-end Fantasy guard next year depending on how the offseason goes.
News: The Seattle SuperSonics saw another point guard go down with injury in the first quarter against Houston on Monday night when Earl Watson sprained his left ankle. With 1:51 left in the quarter, Watson forced up a 3-pointer over Rafer Alston and Dikembe Mutombo as the shot clock expired. Watson's left foot landed on the Mutombo's foot and turned inward. Watson rolled on the floor, grabbing at his ankle, before being helped off the court by trainer Mike Shimensky and rookie center Mouhamed Sene. X-rays on Watson's ankle were negative. The team said he would not return.
Analysis: Watson was in the starting lineup Monday despite spraining his right pinky finger against Utah on Saturday. Watson told coach Bob Hill the finger dislocated but popped back in place. Seattle lost starting point guard Luke Ridnour to a left ankle sprain in the first quarter last Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers. Ridnour was injured driving to the basket and forcing up a shot late in the shot clock as well. Mike Wilks, the last point guard on Seattle's roster, took Watson's spot in the lineup. Keep Watson reserved in all Fantasy leagues until he proves healthy enough to play.

News: Sonics guard Earl Watson matched a career-high with 23 points and added nine assists Tuesday against the Knicks.
Analysis: Watson could have instant value with Luke Ridnour out with a neck injury. Depending on how long Ridnour is out, Watson could be started in daily leagues. The Sonics play Philly on Wednesday, Boston on Friday and Toronto on Sunday.

Analysis: Watson is back on the bench after a stint in the starting lineup. He gives the Sonics quality minutes off the bench, but his play is too inconsistent to use as anything more than a low-end Fantasy guard.
News: The Seattle SuperSonics will be an entirely different team when they host the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night. Sonics coach Bob Hill placed Luke Ridnour back as a starter and sent Earl Watson to the bench, in part because he wanted to employ Watson's energy off the bench.
Analysis: Only use Watson as an injury replacement. His Fantasy value will take a hit now that he is a reserve again.
News: Sonics G Earl Watson had 10 points, two rebounds and five assists in a win over the Pacers Wednesday. He played 29 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Watson doesn't do much in the way of scoring, but he can usually be counted on for a decent amount of assists. Continue tp use Watson as a low-end Fantasy guard.

News: Sonics G Earl Watson (shoulder) was able to start Sunday against the Clippers.

Watson did start on Saturday against the Warriors and finished the game with eight points, six rebounds and 11 assists.

Rashard Lewis could miss some time because of a hand injury and that might keep Watson in the lineup, but he is more of a guard and not a forward.

Watson sparked Seattle off the bench with 17 points, seven assists and five steals, leading the SuperSonics to a 94-74 victory over the New Orleans Hornets on Friday night. Watson entered Friday shooting just 30.6 percent, but was 7-of-13 and ignited a dominant first half by the Sonics, who won their third straight home game. ``He turned the corner 10, 12 days ago in practice ... but it's still somewhat of a breakthrough performance for him. That's what we got used to seeing last year,'' Hill said. ``His energy, stealing the ball, making dramatic plays; I'm happy for him, he needed it.''
Analysis: Watson showed glimpses of emerging from his slump on Tuesday with 10 points against Atlanta. His improvement will be needed for the next two weeks as the Sonics will be without leading scorer Ray Allen, out with a bruised bone in his right ankle. "The only thing I'll say is when Earl came to Seattle, management made it clear he was a backup point guard. And last year he was very, very good at it."

Los Angeles, which trailed by as many as 12 points in the second quarter, used a 7-0 run to take a 102-95 lead with one minute to play.
Analysis: Collison won't be seeing those types of numbers on a regular basis during the season, but he still warrants a selection in deeper Rotisserie formats in the late rounds. At least we know he can score 20 points when given a chance. As for Allen and Lewis, they are the obvious gems of the bunch and both warrant selections in the early rounds. Watson underwent a CT scan, where doctors discovered a fracture of his larynx on the right side of his neck - opposite where he was hit. Concerned with swelling, Watson was not allowed to travel with the team to Sacramento on Monday evening. "At first they told me I'd be out the rest of the season," Watson said.
