News: Wizards guard Maurice Evans turned in his best game of the season during Tuesday night's contest against the Bucks. Evans finished with a season-high 15 points in the 119-118 victory, on 6 of 7 shooting from the field. He went 3 of 4 from downtown and also added three rebounds and two rebounds to his stat line, while logging 20 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Evans saw some rare court time on Tuesday night, which has been rare for the 33-year-old thus far. He has only appeared in four of Washington's last 10 games and most of his appearances have been in garbage time. Unless his role with the team changes, owners should leave the veteran on the waiver wire in all formats.
News: Wizards G Maurice Evans logged a season-high 15 minutes off the bench during Monday night's 111-108 overtime win over the Raptors. Evans finished with three points in the victory, on 1 of 4 shooting from the field. He missed all three of his shots from behind the arc, but was able to add a steal to his stat line.
Analysis: Evans is merely a role player for the Wizards at this point in his career, as he hardly sees the floor. The 33-year-old has appeared in just two of Washington's last 11 games, so Fantasy owners should leave him on the waiver wire in all formats at this point.
News: Washington guard Maurice Evans has returned from a knee issue that has kept him out for most of the season. Evans saw some run on Monday against the Rockets. He's not a major part of the Wizards rotation.
Analysis: Evans played five minutes on Friday against Philadelphia and saw limited time Monday. He will be a healthy scratch more often than not. Evans has low-end Fantasy value.
News: Wizards G Maurice Evans will have an MRI on his sore right knee when the team returns home from Milwaukee, according to the Washington Post. Evans has been unable to practice this past week after experiencing pain in his surgically repaired knee. I got to see why my knee is swollen, and we can go from there, so I can be effective out there, Evans told the newspaper.
Analysis: Evans, who re-signed with the Wizards on a one-year deal during the offseason, said the pain is similar to what he felt last year before having surgery to repair torn cartilage. He said he is "fearful" the problem may have returned. Evans has averaged 6.7 points and 2.5 rebounds in eight NBA seasons with seven teams during his career. He is not a recommended Fantasy option even when he's healthy.
News: Free agent G Maurice Evans, a union vice president during the NBA lockout, has re-signed with the Washington Wizards. The Wizards announced the one-year contract with Evans during halftime of their exhibition opener against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night.
Analysis: Evans averaged 9.7 points and 2.8 rebounds in 26 games with Washington after arriving from the Atlanta Hawks in a trade in February. He has averaged 6.7 points and 2.5 rebounds in eight NBA seasons with seven teams. He will likely be a backup in 2011-12, and doesn't have much value. Don't look his way on Draft Day.
News: Washington guard Maurice Evans amassed season highs in points (23) and rebounds (eight) in the Wizards' 1114-104 loss to Golden State on Sunday. Evans connected on 8 of 15 attempts from the field for the second game in a row, including 2 of 4 from 3-point range, to post his first 20-point game of the season. He also drained 5 of 6 shots from the free-throw line to snap an impressive stretch of 12 consecutive shots made from the charity stripe. Evans added a block while playing a season-high 36 minutes.
Analysis: With Nick Young re-aggravating a knee injury that will likely sideline him for an extended period of time, Evans could be in line for more playing time. The 32-year-old veteran, who was acquired from Atlanta in exchange for Kirk Hinrich and center Hilton Armstrong, replaced Young against the Warriors and played admirably. He knocked down five-plus shots for the fifth time as a member of the Wizards. Fantasy owners should track Young's progress and prepare to give Evans a look as a low-end emergency replacement.
News: Wizards guard Maurice Evans seems to getting more comfortable with his role coming off the bench. Evans, who was acquired at the trade deadline from Atlanta, has scored 15 points in each of his last two games, including seven in the fourth quarter in Sunday's win over the Nets. He has accounted for 30 of the 32 Wizards' bench points over the past two contests and is shooting 61 percent from the field over that stretch. Mo Evans has given us some great minutes these last few games, coach Flip Saunders said.
Analysis: Evans was originally starting for the Wizards, but coach Flip Saunders has since decided that the veteran's contributions are best off the bench. He is averaging just over 25 minutes a game since being dealt to Washington and is averaging 8.5 points over that stretch. With all the injuries that have hit the Wizards, there should be plenty of minutes for Evans over the final few weeks of the season. Continue to view him as a low-end option moving forward.
News: Wizards guard Maurice Evans notched 11 points while logging 33 minutes in Tuesday's 95-76 loss to the Bucks. Evans finished 5 of 11 shooting from the field and grabbed three rebounds to go along with a pair of assists in the defeat. Evans is averaging 8.2 points and 1.0 rebound over his last five contests.
Analysis: Evans continues to see extended minutes with Washington and has now logged over 30 in two consecutive games. Still, it is worth noting that the Wizards are devastated by injuries at the moment, which could be the result of the extra playing time the veteran is seeing. While he can be a decent source for 3-pointers at times, his overall production remains way too inconsistent to start in the majority of Fantasy formats. Leave him for deeper leagues at this point of the season.
News: Guard Maurice Evans made his debut with the Wizards in Friday's loss to the Heat, and he did plenty in limited action. Playing just 14 minutes on the night, Evans scored seven points, including sinking a corner 3-pointer for his first basket with his new club. He shot 3 of 6 from the floor and added two rebounds in the loss. Evans even received a technical foul for arguing a call he didn't receive.
Analysis: Evans was the only Wizard to exceed his season scoring average in Friday's debut of Mike Bibby, Jordan Crawford and Evans. He averages just 4.5 points per game to go along with 1.8 rebounds per night, another mark he exceeded. Still, Evans was in the mix during a shootout in Miami on a night that the Wizards didn't have two starters and a third missed time in the third quarter with injury. He is not a hot commodity by any stretch in Fantasy play, so owners should continue to ignore Evans in all formats moving forward.
News: The Washington Post reports that the trade with Atlanta went through officially Friday, which means that new Washington players Mike Bibby, Maurice Evans and Jordan Crawford are cleared to play in Friday's game at Miami.
Analysis: Evans will be just a bench player for the Wizards and likely a seldom-used one behind John Wall, Nick Young and Bibby. He was only averaging 18 minutes per game for the Hawks and was putting up 4.5 points and 1.8 rebounds. Evans has low-end Fantasy appeal that won't improve with Washington.
News: The official team website for the Wizards reports Friday that new Washington players Mike Bibby, Maurice Evans and Jordan Crawford, who were traded from Atlanta in the deal for Kirk Hinrich and Hilton Armstrong, are with the team heading to shootaround but can't participate because their paperwork with the NBA following the trade has yet to be finalized. The Wizards play at Miami on Friday night, which will be the debut for the three new Washington players. There is speculation Bibby might see a buyout following the trade, which could still happen, but it appears like he will play against the Heat.
News: The Atlanta Hawks dealt point guard Mike Bibby on Wednesday to the Washington Wizards. Bibby, Maurice Evans, Jordan Crawford and a first-round draft pick were traded to the Wizards for point guard Kirk Hinrich and center Hilton Armstrong.
News: Atlanta guard Maurice Evans has dealt with knee issues all season for the Hawks. It hasn't kept him out of too many outings as he's played in 46 games so far. Unfortunately he sees sporadic minutes, which then limits his production. He is getting around 17 minutes a game for the Hawks, and only averaging 4.4 points per game on the year. While his knees seem to be holding up, those minutes are just hard to come by on a deep Atlanta team.
Analysis: Evans has started 12 games this year compared to 34 outings where he came off the bench. But even with getting more minutes in those starts, his numbers aren't too much better. Evans is a nice role player for Atlanta, but when push comes to shove, he's not worth a whole lot in Fantasy leagues. As the second half of the season begins, owners should continue to ignore Evans in all formats.
News: Hawks guard Maurice Evans started his second straight game on Wednesday as Marvin Williams served the second of a two-game suspension for fighting. He scored 12 points on a 5-for-7 shooting performance, as he caught fire in the third quarter. Evans connected on 2 of his 3 shots from downtown in the game. He added one assist, one rebound and a steal in his 26 minutes of action. Atlanta would go on to beat the Raptors, 100-87.
Analysis: With Williams set to return to action in the next game, Evans will return to his role coming off the bench. He's averaging 6.4 points and 1.2 rebounds over his last five games, despite getting quality minutes. Fantasy owners should go on ignoring Evans in all formats as he's not worth owning.
News: The Atlanta Hawks can credit guard Maurice Evans for a big part of Tuesday's overtime win over the Heat in Miami. Evans started the overtime period on fire as he scored the first five Atlanta points in the extra frame. Evans finished the game 4 for 9 from the field, including 1 for 5 from long range, to score 11 points. He played 30 minutes and added five rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Analysis: Evans has been getting more run as Marvin Williams has been out for an extended period of time. He's averaging 24 minutes per game over his last five, compared to 17 per night on the year. Over his last five games, Evans is averaging 5.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and a 3-pointer per game. His effort Tuesday might earn him some staying power, but we still doubt he's going to really gain any Fantasy value.
News: With Marvin Williams out of action, the Hawks are starting G/F Maurice Evans on Saturday against Indiana, reports the team's personal relations staff. Evans is starting at small forward. Evans played 22 minutes off the bench against Utah in his last game and scored 13 points with three rebounds and three 3-pointers.
Analysis: Evans didn't start the last game with Williams out because the Hawks went big and started Jason Collins alongside Al Horford. They will go smaller against the Pacers. This move is not permanent and it shouldn't do much to raise Evans' value. Track how he plays, but Evans remains just a low-end option in Fantasy.
News: Atlanta guard Maurice Evans has been dealing with a sore knee all season and coach Larry Drew has said he'll use Damien Wilkins to buy Evans some time to get 100 percent. Evans played just nine minutes against Boston on Thursday. He missed both of his shots from the field and grabbed just one rebound. The Hawks would fall to the Celtics, 102-90.
Analysis: Evans isn't healthy enough to stay on the court to make an impact. Now with Atlanta's coach looking elsewhere on the bench, Evans' Fantasy value has hit a new low. Until he gets healthy and carves out substantial playing time, Fantasy owners can ignore him in all formats.
News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Hawks G Maurice Evans did not participate in Wednesday's light morning workout prior to traveling to Boston for Thursday's game against the Celtics. Head coach Larry Drew said on Tuesday that he could be forced to restrict him going forward. "There is a high probability as the season wears on he may not play on back-to-back nights," Drew said. "From what I am told, that may be a little bit too much on his knee. Now that Damien [Wilkins] is here I am able to buy Mo a little time with his minutes. I certainly don't want to do anything that will be a setback."
Analysis: Evans has seen his already limited playing time diminish recently. He is averaging 13.8 minutes per game over his last five contests. In that span, he is averaging 1.4 points, 1.0 rebounds and just three shots per game. Continue to ignore him in Fantasy.
News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Maurice Evans is still favoring his surgically repaired right knee. Head coach Larry Drew said that he could be forced to restrict him going forward.
News: Atlanta G/F Maurice Evans came off the bench on Monday against Orlando as the Hawks went with a big lineup against Dwight Howard and the Magic. Coach Larry Drew started Jason Collins with Evans coming off the pine. Evans played just 11 minutes in the game and shot 0 for 3 from the field. He failed to score and added just one rebound.
Analysis: Evans hasn't seen any increase in Fantasy value since joining the starting lineup when Joe Johnson went down with injury. He's likely to go right back to starting in the next game, but it hasn't mattered where he's played. He is only worth having on rosters in the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: The Hawks announced Wednesday night that G Joe Johnson could miss as much as 4-6 weeks of action after an MRI revealed a need for arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow. In his absence, Maurice Evans got the start on Wednesday night against Memphis. He finished with nine points in 21 minutes on the floor, adding just two assists and a rebound.
Analysis: Evans got the start, but it is Jamal Crawford who is likely to see the biggest statistical boost. Evans entered play averaging just 4.7 points per game and 18.8 minutes in 10 appearances this season. He is worth a flier in deeper formats because of a likely increase in playing time, but don't expect him to get a huge boost.

News: Atlanta guard Maurice Evans logged 17 minutes on Saturday, despite missing practice on Friday. He missed eight of the first nine games of the season with soreness in his surgically repaired knee. He missed all three of his field-goal attempts and grabbed three rebounds for the Hawks. Evans would add two assists in Atlanta's 93-98 loss to Dallas.
Analysis: It seems Evans will be a question mark every couple of games as he continues to rest his knee. He normally gets between 15-20 minutes a night, but is known more for his defense and not his offense ability. He's not worth owning in any Fantasy leagues at this time.
News: Hawks SG Maurice Evans, who missed eight of the first nine games with soreness in his surgically repaired knee, sat out practice Friday to rest the same knee, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He's still expected to play Saturday against the Mavericks, though.
Analysis: Evans is part of the Hawks rotation, but he doesn't get much more than 15-20 minutes per game and leaves most of the scoring to Jamal Crawford. He's not worth owning in Fantasy.
News: For the first time since opening night, Atlanta guard Maurice Evans took the floor for the Hawks. He played just 12 minutes, but missed time because of soreness in his surgically repaired right knee. He shot 1 for 4 from the field, missing both his 3-pointers and his lone foul shot. He finished with two points, one block and three boards.
Analysis: Evans is a key role player for the Hawks and they are probably thrilled to have him back in the rotation. But he is a defensive player that won't produce much at the offensive end. At this time, Evans is not worth owning in Fantasy leagues.
News: Hawks SG Maurice Evans, who has been out since the season opener because of soreness in his surgically repaired right knee, will be in uniform and play a limited number of minutes Friday against the Jazz, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Analysis: Evans is a consistent part of the Hawks' rotation, but Jamal Crawford does most of the scoring off the bench. Evans isn't worth owning in Fantasy.
News: Atlanta guard Maurice Evans (knee) missed Wednesday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks. Evans hasn't played since playing in the regular-season opener and scoring seven points.
Analysis: Evans is a role player for Atlanta and isn't normally a big-time Fantasy producer, when healthy. His absence is not going to kill most Fantasy owners' lineups.
News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports on Saturday that Hawks coach Larry Drew has ruled Maurice Evans out for Sunday against the Suns. Evans will also miss the following game against the Magic in Orlando on Monday.
Analysis: Evans hasn't played since playing in the regular-season opener and scoring seven points. He's a role player for Atlanta and isn't normally a big-time Fantasy producer. His absence is not going to kill most Fantasy owners' lineups. Still, Evans is a major injury risk for Week 3 (Nov. 8-14) so if you were planning on using him, think again.
News: According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Hawks guard Maurice Evans (knee) won't make the road trip with the team when the take on Minnesota on Friday. An MRI showed that swelling he's had was just part of the normal healing process after arthroscopic surgery over the summer, but had to have his right knee drained last week. It puts us in a little bit of a dilemma because both of our threes are out, coach Larry Drew said, as Marvin Williams also won't make the trip.
Analysis: Evans is a role player for the Hawks, but a key component nonetheless. He scored seven points in the team's opener and hasn't played since. While he'll get his minutes off the bench, his production on a nightly basis will be sporadic. He can be a source of 3s in deeper category-based Fantasy leagues, when healthy, as he is a career 36.9 3-point shooter. Besides that he has minimal Fantasy appeal.
News: According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Hawks guard Maurice Evans said he expects to miss a week because of his knee. Evans played in Atlanta's opener on Wednesday, but had to have his surgically-repaired right knee drained. The Hawks have three games this week, Tuesday at Cleveland, Wednesday against Detroit and then Friday versus Minnesota. An MRI showed that swelling he's had was just part of the normal healing process after arthroscopic surgery over the summer.
Analysis: Evans scored seven points in the team's season opener and plays a key role off the bench. But between his knee issue and the fact he'll have to fight for minutes on a nightly basis, Evans doesn't have much Fantasy value. He is a career 36.9 percent 3-point shooter, so he could help owners out in deeper category-based formats that need assistance in 3s.
News: Hawks SG Maurice Evans, who played in the opener on Wednesday, sat out Friday's game against the 76ers after getting his surgically-repaired right knee drained. He is considered doubtful for Saturday's game against the Wizards and could miss several more days.
Analysis: Evans was quite productive off the bench for Atlanta on Wednesday, scoring seven points in 15 minutes. But score was about all he did. He's a decent scorer when he gets enough minutes, but his role isn't the same as it once was with Jamal Crawford on board. You can leave him for the deepest of Fantasy leagues, especially since he has this knee issue going on.
News: According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Hawks SG Maurice Evans is scheduled for an MRI after having his surgically-repaired right knee drained Friday. He is expected to miss several days.
Analysis: Evans scored seven points in Wednesday's season opener in Memphis, hitting all three of his shots from the field. He's a decent scorer when he gets enough minutes, but his role isn't the same as it once was with Jamal Crawford on board. You can leave him for the deepest of Fantasy leagues, especially since he has this knee issue going on.
News: Hawks forward Maurice Evans returned to Atlanta to have his right knee drained on Friday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. It is being reported that he could miss several days and is listed as doubtful for Friday's matchup in Philadelphia.
Analysis: Evans scored seven points in Wednesday's season opener in Memphis, hitting all three of his shots from the field. He tallied 15 minutes as he battled through his knee issue, but now could miss some time because of that knee. Evans is a role player for Atlanta, and doesn't bring much to the Fantasy table. Consider him a 3-point option in deeper leagues at this time, but monitor this knee issue moving forward.
News: Atlanta guard Maurice Evans played through a nagging knee issue on Wednesday in the opener at Memphis. Evans got 15 minutes and shot well, going 3 for 3 from the field and 1 for 1 from long range. He scored seven points and and did not pick up any other stats.
Analysis: Evans is a role player off the bench and will not see a ton of minutes this season. Evans might help you in deep leagues with 3-point shooting but that is about the extent of his value.
News: Atlanta guard Maurice Evans missed most of the preseason with a knee injury and missed the Hawks' finale on Friday at Charlotte. He averaged 3.3 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.3 assists per game in three preseason contests.
Analysis: Evans was probably sat on Friday to get more rest before the season opener at Memphis. Evans is a good role player for the Hawks, but doesn't hold much Fantasy value. He can be left on the waiver wire to start the regular season.
News: Hawks G Maurice Evans made his preseason debut in Saturday's game against the Hornets. Evans, who has been sidelined with a knee injury, played in just seven minutes and scored three points in the 84-74 win.
Analysis: Evans appears to be healthy now and will most likely come off the bench as he did last season. He is a good role player for the Hawks, but unfortunately doesn't offer much help in the Fantasy department. He can be left on the waiver wire on Draft Day.
News: Atlanta guard Maurice Evans did not play for the Hawks on Thursday against the Grizzlies as he sat out with a knee injury.
Analysis: Evans is a veteran guard that will continue to come off the bench for the Hawks this season. He has a career-average of 6.8 points, 2.6 boards and 0.8 assists per game over his seven years in the league. He is a good role player for Atlanta but is no more than a filler in deeper daily Fantasy leagues.
News: Hawks SG Maurice Evans started in place of the injured Joe Johnson on Tuesday, scoring 20 points against the Bobcats. Evans logged 36 minutes, shooting 8 of 15 from the field, 4 of 7 from behind the arc. He added four rebounds and one steal.
Analysis: Evans has typically scored in double figures when playing more than 20 minutes this season, and while Joe Johnson is out Evans will to continue to play more than 20 minutes. He's averaging 15 points in Johnson's place, and could be a pleasant Fantasy surprise in daily leagues for owners in need of some unexpected punch.
News: According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Hawks G Joe Johnson (thumb) will not travel with the team for Tuesday's game in Charlotte or Wednesday's game in Detroit. Maurice Evans will start in his place. Im just trying to rest up and do whatever it takes to get it back 100 percent before the playoffs start, Johnson said Monday after practice.
Analysis: According to the report, the thumb that he injured defending Ron Artest in the Lakers game last Wednesday is still bothering him and he aggravated it early against Cleveland on Friday. Johnson and the team decided to let it heal up and hopefully be ready for the playoffs rather than let it linger. Johnson described himself as very frustrated with the injury. This news makes Johnson extremely risky for Fantasy Week 24 (April 5-14). He will play at best two games in leagues that play through Sunday April 11 or four games in leagues that play through Wednesday April 14. Start him at your own peril. Jamal Crawford will likely take on a more active scoring role in his place. Evans is not a recommended Fantasy stopgap.
News: Playing more minutes than usual on Tuesday due to Joe Johnson being injured, Atlanta SG Maurice Evans had a nice night against the Nets. Evans played 27 minutes and shot 3 of 10 from the field to score 12 points. He went 2 for 2 from 3-point range and added four rebounds.
Analysis: Evans stats were nothing to get excited about on Tuesday but the fact that he scored in double figures was cause enough to talk about it. Still, Johnson should return shortly and that means Evans will go back to doing little. He only has Fantasy value in the deepest of leagues.
News: Atlanta G Maurice Evans returned to the lineup Saturday against the Pistons after missing Friday's contest with an illness. He scored two points while adding two rebounds and an assist in 15 minutes.
Analysis: Even when healthy, Evans provides no Fantasy value and can be left on waivers in all formats.
News: Atlanta G Maurice Evans did not play in Thursday's contest against Washington because of flu-like symptoms and did not travel with the team.
Analysis: Even when healthy, Evans offers minimal Fantasy appeal and can be left on waivers in most formats.
News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Hawks forward Mo Evans (flu-like symptoms) is not traveling with team to Washington on Wednesday. Evans is not expected to play at the Wizards on Thursday.
Analysis: Keep Evans reserved in all daily leagues. He has minimal Fantasy value when healthy.
News: Hawks G Maurice Evans socred 22 points with 9 rebounds and 2 assists in Sunday's game against New Jersey. It was his third straight game with 15-plus points.
Analysis: On Sunday, Evans got a start against the Nets due to the fact Marvin Williams was out with a stomach issue. The previous two games came as a result of blowout wins for the Hawks against the Bulls and Raptors. We'd like to see him do this under normal circumstances before we recommend him in Fantasy leagues, but he's worth a flier in deep formats.
News: Hawks guard Maurice Evans scored a season-high 18 points on Wednesday in a win over the Bulls. Evans shot 6 of 8 from the field and hit a season-high-tying four threes. Evans added two blocked shots.
Analysis: Evans didn't even score in his previous game and averages just 4.3 points per game on the year. He will need to garner far more minutes and play with some consistency before he becomes a viable Fantasy option. Leave him on waivers.
News: For the second straight game, Atlanta G Maurice Evans was able to reach double digits in scoring, putting up 12 points off the bench against the Nuggets. He added six rebounds and an assist to his stat line as well.
Analysis: Evans is a decent scorer off the bench, but the Hawks have an even better one in Jamal Crawford who is a much more consistent contributor. He should remain out in the majority of Fantasy formats.
News: Hawks SG Maurice Evans, playing for the first time in the preseason, scored 27 points in 26 minutes off the bench to lead the Hawks to a 111-96 victory over the Grizzlies on Wednesday night. Evans, who was nursing an injured left knee during the Hawks' first three preseason games, connected on 8 of 10 shots from the field. "It feels a lot better after getting some rest," Evans said of the deep bone bruise. "I really didn't expect to be as sharp as I was. The guys really did a good job of moving the ball."
Analysis: Evans is a decent scorer off the bench, but the Hawks have an even better one in Jamal Crawford, which means even if Evans gets minutes, he'll have a tendency to disappear. He should go undrafted in virtually all Fantasy leagues.
News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Hawks G Maurice Evans is dealing with a bone bruise. He is expected to rest for another week.
Analysis: Evans is not expected to miss any regular season time. Evans is not expected to play a significant role off the bench this season and he is not a recommended Fantasy option.
News:Marvin Williams won't start for the Atlanta Hawks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against Cleveland, but the fourth-year forward may get plenty of minutes. Williams, who started two of the three games he played in Atlanta's first-round series win over Miami, is likely to serve in a reserve role against the Cavaliers on Tuesday night. Woodson plans to keep Maurice Evans in the lineup, but said he prefers giving as many minutes as possible to Williams if the No. 2 overall draft pick of 2005 proves he won't tire too easily. "We struggled to score some (against Miami), and there was 14 points sitting on the sidelines," Woodson said Monday. "He told me today after practice that he's ready to go. We need him."
Analysis: Williams' 13.9 scoring average ranked fourth on the Hawks behind Joe Johnson, Josh Smith and Mike Bibby. He started his first 59 games before missing 16 straight games late in the regular season with a back injury. During a Game 2 home loss to Miami, Williams sprained his right wrist and didn't return until Game 6, when he failed to score, took one shot and had no rebounds in 4:49 as a reserve. Evans, a sixth-year veteran who averaged 7.2 points during 80 games of the regular season, has made 30 starts, five in the playoffs. Williams might be struggling during this postseason run, but he has more Fantasy value than Evans coming into next year. Hopefully for Fantasy owners, Williams will get 100 percent healthy this offseason and return to playing at a high level next year.
News: Atlanta SG Maurice Evans returned from a family matter on Wednesday to start in the season finale against the Grizzlies. Evans had one of his best games of the season as he scored 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting. He added three threes and five rebounds.
Analysis: Evans tied his season high on Wednesday and averaged seven points and three boards on the season. Evans and the Hawks are ready for the playoffs. He remains only a low-end Fantasy guard worthy of use in the deepest of leagues.
News: Atlanta SG Maurice Evans is still out of town dealing with a family matter and couldn't play in his second straight game Tuesday against Miami. He may return for Wednesday's season finale at Memphis.
Analysis: Evans doesn't have much Fantasy value in even the deepest of leagues. Since there is only one game left in the regular season and since he remains a question mark for that game, he's really someone to avoid in Fantasy right now.
News: Atlanta SG Maurice Evans was unable to play in Friday's game against Indiana. He is out of town dealing with a family matter and is considered questionable for Tuesday's game against the Heat.
Analysis: Evans has little Fantasy value even when starting and with Marvin Williams having returned on Friday, his value will go down even further. He is a player worth ignoring even when he gets back to work.
News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Hawks guard Maurice Evans will not be with the team Friday night against Indiana. He is out of town dealing with a family matter.
Analysis: Evans has minimal Fantasy value when active. And with Marvin Williams expected to return Friday, Evans will likely return to the bench and see his production decline. The safe bet is to ignore Evans in all leagues at this time.
News: Hawks swingman Maurice Evans had 15 points and six rebounds in 38 minutes as a starer Saturday in Cleveland. He was 3-for-6 from beyond the arc. He has scored in double figures in four of his last five games.
Analysis: Evans continues to start in the absence of Marvin Williams, who is unlikely to return the rest of the season. He offers nice three-point shooting numbers, double-digit scoring ability and a healthy amount of steals. Think about taking a flier on him off the wire if he is available and a low-end stopgap measure is needed.
News: Atlanta SG Maurice Evans got the starting nod on Monday as Marvin Williams sat out of the game with a back injury. He scored only five points in the game, going 1-for-4 from the floor with two rebounds in 19 minutes of work.
Analysis: Evans will likely keep starting as long as Williams remains out with his back injury. There's no timetable set for his return, but we don't think Evans will be all that relevant in Fantasy in the first place. He is at best a low-end stopgap option if he is able to get some consistent starts.
News: Hawks SG Maurice Evans came off the bench Monday against the Jazz to hit 5-of-7 shots on his way to 12 points in 21 minutes. It was the first time in five games Evans, who had just one rebound, scored in double figures.
Analysis: Evans is averaging about 22 minutes per game off the bench for the Hawks and is a valuable part of the team's rotation. However, he isn't always hitting double figures and that's a cause for concern in Fantasy. Evans has more value to his real team than Fantasy owners.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Atlanta G Mo Evans was the man on the spot Friday night in Charlotte. Saturday night he was an afterthought. He played 20 minutes against the Clippers and scored 10 points, but it was a hollow performance by a guy who was a hero the night before.
Analysis: Evans is averaging seven points, 1.6 boards and almost two threes per night over his last five games. Despite his solid performance on Friday, Saturday is more like what you can expect from him. He's not a recommended Fantasy player at this time.
News: Atlanta SG Maurice Evans had one of his better games of the season on Friday, scoring 17 points in a starting opportunity against the Bobcats. He went 6-of-10 from the field, hitting five of the six three-pointers he attempted in the game.
Analysis: Evans had only scored eight points combined in his last two games before he went off against the Bobcats from downtown on Friday. He is not going to do this every night and cannot be counted on in the vast majority of leagues.
News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Joe Johnson will miss Wednesday's game in Minnesota. Johnson missed the past two days of practice with what coach Mike Woodson described as "some sort of viral infection." He listed him as day-to-day and Johnson did not travel with the team to Minnesota. Maurice Evans is expected to start in place of Johnson.
Analysis: Johnson is the Hawks' leader in scoring, assists, minutes played, field goals attempted and free throws attempted all by wide margins. Fantasy owners in daily leagues will need to reserve him for Wednesday's game and monitor his status for Friday's game. Fantasy owners in weekly leagues should expect to have him back for Week 16. Evans is a very low-end stopgap option for owners in deeper daily leagues.
News: Hawks SG Maurice Evans came off the bench Monday against the Heat to contribute four points in 22 minutes. He went 0-for-4 from the field and all of his points came at the free-throw line. Evans also had seven rebounds, the second time he did that in six games.
Analysis: Evans has had a few impressive scoring performances in his last six games and averages about 23 minutes per game, but he is still just a marginal role player for the Hawks. He has very minimal Fantasy appeal.
News: Hawks G Maurice Evans scored 21 points with seven rebounds and two assists off the bench Friday in Golden State. He came into the game having scored just three points over his previous two games.
Analysis: Evans benefited from a matchup against the team that allows the most points in the NBA. The Warriors allowed 114 points to the Hawks on Friday, but Evans won't get the 14 shots he got on Friday on most nights. He remains a low-end option in Fantasy despite this performance and that will not change until he can start getting more double-digit shot attempts on a regular basis somehow.
News: Atlanta SG Maurice Evans had 10 points off the bench and two rebounds on Sunday off the bench. It's the first time in 14 games that Evans has accomplished a double-digit performance.
Analysis: Evans is a pretty good three-point shooter but his shot attempts have really been limited in the month of January. Evans doesn't do enough in Atlanta to be all that relevant in Fantasy as he is averaging less than four points per game.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Hawks G Mo Evans finally got his groove back from long distance, making one of his three three-point shots against the Nuggets on Monday night. The shot seemed to inspire him, as he picked it up on the defensive end.
Analysis: Evans has hit just three three-pointers over his last five contests but has 36 in the team's first 30 games. He might get hot shooting from deep after that spark-plug three. Still, he's averaging just 3.8 points and 2.0 boards with 1.2 assist per game over his last five contests and is playing just 16 minutes per night. His season stats aren't much better and right now Evans is just a very low-end Fantasy option for the deepest of leagues.
News: G Maurice Evans scored nine points on 4-for-7 shooting Friday at Miami. Evans now has 19 points combined in his last two games.
Analysis: Evans is getting more than 20 minutes off the bench for the Hawks and for the most part has been the team's most solid bench player, getting the most minutes. He is worth owning in larger leagues, but is still merely a stopgap measure for Fantasy owners.
News: Hawks G Maurice Evans had 11 points and four rebounds in 28 minutes off the bench in Friday's game against the Knicks. He had scored no points in his previous game, shooting 0-for-7 from the field.
Analysis: Evans had scored 17 and 19 points in the two games prior to the 0-fer, including 14 rebounds in the two games. He has seen at least 28 minutes in three of his last four games and should continue to get minutes as long as his shot is falling. He is worth owning in larger leagues, but is still merely a stopgap measure for Fantasy owners.
News: In Josh Smith's return from an ankle injury Wednesday against the Grizzlies, Hawks reserve SG Maurice Evans went scoreless in 16 minutes off the bench, shooting 0-for-7 from the field. He had 19 points and 17 points in his previous two games.
Analysis: Evans got decent minutes off the bench even before Smith's injury, so his struggles Wednesday likely had as much to do with his poor shooting as anything else. Still, as the seventh or eighth man off the Hawks bench, he deserves little Fantasy attention outside of deeper leagues.
News: Hawks SG Maurice Evans, who had seven points over his last two games combined, bounced back with 13 in 29 minutes off the bench Tuesday at Indiana. He also had six rebounds and two assists.
Analysis: Evans has scored in double figures four times in his last seven games, earning the numbers Josh Childress used to get off the Hawks bench before leaving for Europe. Evans has some appeal in deeper leagues, but he'll need to score more consistently before you take a flier on him in standard leagues.
News: Atlanta SG Maurice Evans played 26 minutes off the bench on Tuesday night against the Bulls and was very much apart of the Hawks improving to 6-0. Evans, who played his most minutes since the opener, scored 17 points and added five rebounds. He nailed three three-pointers for the Hawks.
Analysis: Evans seems to play well when given minutes so that bodes well for Atlanta giving him some more time. On Nov. 7 against Toronto he played 24 minutes and recorded 15 points but he followed that with 17 minutes and four points against the Thunder two days later. You'll have to deal with the bad games but Evans has become somewhat of a sleeper option in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Atlanta SG Maurice Evans came off the bench to score eight points in 18 minutes on Wednesday in a win over New Orleans. Evans hit two threes.
Analysis: Evans played 42 minutes against Orlando in the opener and didn't score any more than he did on Wednesday. He's played just 17.5 minutes per game in the next two contests and looks to be a low-end option for both the Hawks and Fantasy owners.
News: The Atlanta Hawks will play the Orlando Magic (Oct. 29) and Philadelphia 76ers (Nov. 1) in Week 1 (Oct. 27-Nov. 2) of the Fantasy Basketball season. Both of their opponents allowed less than 100 points per game last season and the Sixers actually improved on the defensive end by adding Elton Brand.
Analysis: In the back court, Mike Bibby and Joe Johnson are still worth starting in any format for Week 1 and in most weeks, regardless of matchups. Both are entering the regular season at full strength. This is not a good week to test out fringe players like Maurice Evans or Acie Law. Don't even think about going with Zaza Pachulia or Ronald "Flip" Murray yet. The Hawks say they are very happy with the depth they have on their bench this season even with the loss of Josh Childress in the offseason, but look to see how the fare on the floor in the regular season first before activating any of them.
News: Hawks G Maurice Evans scored 17 points with three assists and two steals in Monday's preseason opener at Orlando. He played 23 minutes and shot 6-for-9 from the field, including 4-for-4 from beyond the arc.
Analysis: Evans was brought in to fill the void left by Josh Childress' departure to Europe in the off-season. This was just a preseason game, but it was certainly a good start. There is some low-end sleeper potential here as he'll likely be the primary scoring option off the bench. He could average double figures this year.
News: The Hawks completed a deal with Maurice Evans on Tuesday, locking up a replacement for sixth-man Josh Childress. The 6-foot-5 Evans started 47 times for the Orlando Magic last season and averaged a career-high 9.3 points. "He is a quality defender who gives us a physical and athletic presence, whether it's serving as a starter or coming off the bench," Hawks general manager Rick Sund said of Evans. "We are getting a solid player who is coming off his best statistical season, and who also has the talents to spread things on offense with his 3-point shooting ability."
Analysis: Evans was quickly targeted by Atlanta after Childress, a restricted free agent, stunned Atlanta last week by signing with Greek powerhouse Olympiakos. Evans reportedly received a three-year deal for about $7.5 million - much less than Childress would have commanded. Childress' three-year contract in Greece will guarantee him at least $20 million after taxes. Evans can shift between guard and forward, much as Childress did for the Hawks. Still, the newcomer would have to be considered a significant drop-off from a younger player who averaged in double figures each of his first four seasons in the NBA, including 11.8 last season to help Atlanta reach the playoffs for the first time in nine years. Don't expect Evans to average much more than the 8.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game he averaged last year.
News: Magic F Maurice Evans will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. In 75 appearances during the regular season between the Lakers and the Magic, he averaged 8.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. He started in 47 out of 68 games with Orlando.
Analysis: Evans, whose 8.9 points are actually a career high for him, doesn't stand to win big on the free agent market and his best bet may actually be to return with the Magic, who can offer him a significant role with around 25 minutes per night. Fantasy owners will only need to start thinking him as a low-end reserve option in larger Fantasy formats come Draft Day.
News: Magic forward Maurice Evans had a career-high 27 points, leading the Magic to a 121-105 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night. Evans scored 23 points in the second half as both playoff-bound teams substituted liberally, knowing the game had no impact on their postseason positioning. The fourth-year guard, who wasn't drafted out of college, eclipsed his previous high of 26 points against Golden State on Feb. 25. "It's time to build momentum," Evans said. "I was just trying to play hard, and then my shots started falling. I was making shots, having fun with it. At the same time, we were closing out the game the right way. I think we're prepared to go to the playoffs."
Analysis: Evans has closed the season strong, with four games of at least 10 points in his final five outings. He is averaging 15.2 points over that stretch, so hopefully he can carry it over into the playoffs and next season. Evans remains the fourth scoring option at best for Orlando behind Dwight Howard, Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis. That makes him a low-end Fantasy option but a possible reserve in 2008-09.
News: Magic G/F Maurice Evans had just seven points with a rebound and an assist in Wednesday's loss to Washington. Despite starting, Evans is averaging just 11.4 points and 2.4 rebounds over his last five games.
Analysis: Evans continues to start at shooting guard, but ironically rarely sees as much as 10 shots in a game. Unless those numbers appeal to you, ignore him in Fantasy.
News: Magic forward Maurice Evans went for 17 points, six rebounds and one assist Wednesday against the Wizards.
Analysis: Evans now has four games in double figures in points in his past six outings. Still, he is too inconsistent to be counted on in the majority of Fantasy leagues. Consider him a low-end option at this time.
News: Magic G/F Maurice Evans scored 14 points Sunday against the Kings. He has now scored in double figures in 10 of his last 13 games.
Analysis: Evans recently took over as the team's starting shooting guard and has averaged 10.8 points per game in the role. Needless to say, he's a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Magic SF Maurice Evans scored 12 points as he went 5 of 9 from the field and hit his lone free-throw attempt Wednesday against the Raptors. Evans also had one assist and seven rebounds. In the two games after the All-Star break, he is averaging 14.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 0.5 assists.
Analysis: Evans has been playing extremely well in the new year. He is averaging more than 9.0 points per game and has become a regular in the Magic starting lineup. His numbers are not earth shattering, but he can be used as a low-end Fantasy option in larger leagues.
News: Magic G Maurice Evans was ejected Wednesday against Denver after picking up two technicals arguing a call in the third quarter. He had two points on 1-for-8 shooting.
Analysis: Evans has been starting at shooting guard for the Magic and he's been slightly appealing in larger Fantasy formats for some low-end scoring potential. That's about it, though.
News: One game after setting a season high with 16 points, Magic SF Maurice Evans tied it Monday against the Mavericks. He also had five rebounds and shot 6-for-8 from the field.
Analysis: Evans, who recently took over as Magic SG, has scored in double figures in five straight games, but he's not a huge rebounds or assists man. His Fantasy appeal remains limited to larger formats.
News: Magic F Maurice Evans, who has recently started at shooting guard, scored a season-high 16 points Saturday at Indiana. He shot 6-for-11 from the field, including 3-for-6 from 3-point range. He also had four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Analysis: Evans has scored in double figures in four straight games, but he's not a huge rebounds or assists man. His Fantasy appeal remains limited to larger formats.
News:Maurice Evans had 11 points with three assists and three rebounds Sunday afternoon vs. Boston. He bounced back from his 2-point outing in his previous game.
Analysis: Evans has been starting at shooting guard for the Magic and he's been slightly appealing in larger Fantasy formats for some low-end scoring potential.
News: Magic SF Maurice Evans scored 12 points in 29 minutes Wednesday against the Grizzlies. Evans, who also had one rebound, has scored in double figures for six of the last eight games.
Analysis: Evans has had a nice scoring touch since entering the starting lineup and doesn't appear as though he is ready to relinquish his new job. For now, he remains a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Magic SF Maurice Evans made a fifth consecutive start Wednesday against the Bobcats and scored 10 points in 29 minutes. He also had five rebounds and two assists while scoring in double figures for the fourth time in five games.
Analysis: Evans has had a nice scoring touch since entering the starting lineup and doesn't appear as though he is ready to relinquish his new job. For now, he remains a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Magic G Maurice Evans made his third consecutive start at shooting guard Saturday, and, according to The Sports Xchange, he looks like he has cemented his role. He reached double figures scoring for the third consecutive game, and he has provided a boost of energy in the starting lineup.
Analysis: Evans had 11 points and three rebounds in Saturday's game and has averaged 13.0 points and 3.3 rebounds in his three starts. That pace would make him a decent No. 4 Fantasy guard if he can sustain it, but we have our doubts he can.
News: For the second consecutive game, Maurice Evans was productive as a starter Friday at Denver. He scored 15 points with three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Analysis: Evans appears to have earned himself a shot at keeping the starting shooting guard spot in Orlando. He's been playing well in unison with Jameer Nelson in the backcourt and is a player worth adding in all leagues as a possible steal off the waiver wire.

News: In place of the injured Rashard Lewis (neck spasms), Magic SF Maurice Evans made his first start of the season Saturday against the Grizzlies. He had eight points and five rebounds.
Analysis: Evans has begun seeing more minutes off the bench for the Magic, but he doesn't normally do much with them. Leave him on waivers in all but the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: SF Maurice Evans, traded from the Lakers to the Magic in late October, has begun to play a critical role off the bench for his new team, going two straight games with 11 points and three rebounds.
Analysis: Evans has also played over 20 minutes in three straight games and clearly deserves a look in deeper leagues. For the most part, though, he should remain on waivers in Fantasy.
News: The Magic traded F Trevor Ariza to the Lakers for F Brian Cook and F Maurice Evans on Tuesday.
Analysis: This was a swap of backups that shouldn't interest Fantasy owners much at this point. Evans will be behind several players on the depth chart in Orlando and should not be added in Fantasy at this time.
News: Lakers SF Maurice Evans did not score in 15 minutes off the bench in Tuesday's opener vs. Houston. He contributed four boards, two assists and a steal.
Analysis: Evans was 0-for-3 from the field and was not featured much in the game. He's not in a position to help your Fantasy squad and should be left on the waiver wire for now.
News: G/F Maurice Evans averaged 8.4 ppg and 2.9 rpg in 76 appearances during the 2006-07 regular season.
Analysis: Evans is a role player at this stage in his career, but he can be useful as an occasional stopgap starter in Fantasy leagues. Consider him in that role in the late rounds of Fantasy drafts this fall.
News: Evans (knee) was able to suit up for Sunday's game against the Kings. He managed 21 points and four rebounds in 26 minutes off of the bench.
Analysis: It appears safe to get Evans into the active Fantasy lineup in all larger leagues if you depend on him.

Analysis: Keep Evans reserved in all leagues and hope he can return soon.
News: Lakers G Maurice Evans continues to struggle with a sore right knee that might need to be drained again, he told the Los Angeles Times. "There's so much swelling that it restricts the movement," he said. "I know we definitely need bodies right now, but I know my knee could definitely use some rest to recover."
Analysis: He may not get that rest, but in the meantime, Fantasy GMs should keep him reserved until he gets back to 100 percent. He can be a useful Fantasy stopgap and is useful as a No. 4 Fantasy guard in leagues of 10-plus teams when healthy.

News: Maurice Evans scored 27 points and Lamar Odom had 17 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists for the Los Angeles Lakers in a 113-106 preseason victory over the New Orleans Hornets on Friday night.
Analysis: Evans will give the Lakers some much-needed depth at the guard position, but don't expect a lot in the way of Fantasy appeal. He'll give Kobe Bryant a breather every now and again. If anyone scores 27 points during the season, it'll be Kobe.
News: The Lakers spent much of practice Friday talking trash, pushing and shoving each other on their fourth day of camp. "It was testy some times," Lamar Odom said. "Everybody wanted to prove that they could play. Right about this time, you don't really get to show your individual stuff."
Analysis: This is a good sign. A team that many believe to be overly dependant on Kobe Bryant is at least showing some signs of life in training camp. Under the guidance of Phil Jackson, walking cane and all, this team could provide more Fantasy useful players than it has in several years. Odom is the team's second most useful Fantasy option behind Bryant, but there is more to sift through. Kwame Brown is a trendy sleeper pick as a No. 2 center in larger leagues with Andrew Bynum turning heads as a super-sleeper in dynasty formats. Chris Mihm has gained recognition as a viable option in deeper formats and even players like Vladimir Radmanovic, Chris Mihm, Smush Parker and rookie Jordan Farmar could all have varying degrees of Fantasy value over the course of the season.
News: The Los Angeles Lakers acquired Evans in a Draft Day trade which cost them the rights to second-round pick C Cheick Samb from Senegal.

News: Maurice Evans signed with the Detroit Pistons and is expected to provide depth behind starting small forward Tayshaun Prince and shooting guard Richard Hamilton. "Maurice is the kind of player we think is going to fit in with our team and our culture," president of basketball operations Joe Dumars said Saturday. "Maurice brings a really strong competitive streak with him and can play two positions for us."
Analysis: Detroit signed Evans on Friday, nine days after they extended an offer sheet to the 6-foot-5 Sacramento swingman. The Kings needed to match the three-year contract worth about $4.5 million to retain the restricted free agent, but they weren't expected to after signing Shareef Abdur-Rahim earlier this month. Evans doesn't do enough to warrant drafting in Fantasy play.

Analysis: With Evans moving on to serve as the backup to Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince, providing a nice spark off of the bench.

News: Evan left Thursday's game against the Jazz due to a head injury. He was injured on a hard foul by Utah's Carlos Boozer and blood was seen coming from his ear.
Analysis: Evans will be re-evaluated on Friday. His status is uncertain. Keep the Kings' sixth-man reserved until the severity of his injury is determined. If he is out long-term, look for Kevin Martin to see increased playing time.
News: Evans will serve in Bobby Jackson's (wrist surgery) role as the first high-energy player off of the bench of the Kings. He scored a career-high 16 points in 27 minutes at New York on Tuesday.
Analysis: Jackson is out for the season, so Evans gets first crack at increased minutes. If he cannot hack it, Kevin Martin might also get a shot. Monitor Evans' play over the next week before taking a chance on him. Despite the nice night on Tuesday, he was also scoreless in 12 minutes against the Spurs on Sunday.
News: Maurice Evans scored three points in five minutes of Thursday's game against the Lakers. He got in the game in the final minutes of the blowout loss.
