Kings part ways with Roger Mason Jr.

(2/20/2014) Shortly after being traded away from Miami to Sacramento, the Kings waived guard Roger Mason Jr. on Thursday, ESPN reports. Mason appeared in only 25 games with Miami, averaging just 3.0 points per game.

(2/20/2014) The Kings have agreed to acquire Roger Mason Jr. from the Heat , CBSSports.com NBA Insider Ken Berger reports. Miami will receive a "highly protected future second-round pick" in exchange.

Sacramento is expected to buy out Mason Jr. with money included in the deal. Miami would then have a free roster spot to sign a veteran at the March 1 buyout deadline.

(1/9/2014) Heat guard Roger Mason Jr. is still not seeing much playing time, as he managed just five minutes off the bench in a 102-92 loss to the Knicks Thursday.

Mason Jr. missed both of his shots to finish the game scoreless, his second such outing in a row. Mason Jr. has been just a bit player for Miami this season, averaging 3.5 points per game while shooting 38.6 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from three-point range.

(12/28/2013) Heat guard Roger Mason Jr. earned his second start of the season but failed to make much of an impact during Friday's overtime loss to the Kings.

Mason went 1 of 5 shooting from the field, including 1 of 4 from beyond the arc, and 1 of 1 from the free throw line. He finished the game with four points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal while logging 23 minutes of game action in a 108-103 defeat.

(12/8/2013) Heat guard Roger Mason Jr. scored a season-high 12 points on 4 of 7 shooting, including 4 of 6 shooting from behind the arc, in his team's 115-90 win over the Pistons Sunday.

Mason also recorded a season-high with 22 minutes of action while adding one rebound and one assist to his double-digit scoring performance. He has averaged 5.1 points over nine games.

(10/29/2013) The Miami Heat listed Roger Mason Jr. and Greg Oden as inactive for Tuesday's season opener against the Bulls.

Oden, who has endured a long history of knee issues, played four minutes and scored two points in the preseason and has been currently ahead of schedule. Still no word from the team on what kind of role Mason and Oden will have this season.

(10/7/2013) Heat guard Roger Mason Jr. played in his first game, albeit preseason, Monday against Atlanta. Mason immediately showed what he could do for Miami this season.

The shooting guard played 27 minutes and nailed three 3-pointers in four attempts. He was 3 for 5 from the field for 14 points to finish second on the team in scoring. Mason added six rebounds, four assists and a blocked shot in a nice Miami debut.

Mason saw just 17.7 minutes per game last year with New Orleans. Still, his 3-point shooting is very attractive with all the other pieces in tow for the Heat as defending champs this season.

(2/11/2013) New Orleans guard Roger Mason Jr. was extremely effective on Monday during a blowout win at Detroit. Mason played just 22 minutes but scored 14 points as he went 5 for 9 from the field and 3 for 4 from 3-point range. Mason added five rebounds and also dished out an assist in the win.
