Report: Hornets could bring back Jannero Pargo

(2/5/2015) Though the Hornets waived Jannero Pargo in favor of Elliot Williams, Pargo may not be out of the organization's plans just yet.

According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the Hornets could bring Pargo back into the fold once his back injury clears up. In nine games this season, Pargo was averaging 4.6 points per game.

(2/4/2015) The Hornets have signed guard Elliot Williams to a 10-day contract and waived guard Jannero Pargo, general manager Rich Cho announced, via the team's official website.

Pargo has not played since Dec. 22 because of a back issue. He made nine appearances this season, averaging 4.6 points in 8.1 minutes.

Williams played 19 games for the San Cruz Warriors of the D-League this season, averaging 20.1 points, 7.6 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 36.3 minutes. He signed a pair of 10-day contracts with the Jazz earlier in January before Utah chose not to keep him for the remainder of the season. Williams averaged 3.6 points, 0.8 assists and 0.6 rebounds in five games for the Jazz.

Once Pargo is released, the Hornets will sign Elliot Williams from the NBA Development League. Pargo has not played since Dec. 22 because of a back issue. Meanwhile, Williams has been playing in the D-League, but averaged 3.6 points and 0.8 assists in five games for the Jazz this season.

(1/28/2015) The Hornets will be without Jannero Pargo for Wednesday's game at San Antonio, reports the San Antonio Express-News.

Pargo is dealing with a back issue and has not played since Dec. 22. Meanwhile, forward Marvin Williams is listed as questionable. Williams suffered a broken nose and concussion during last Saturday's game against the Knicks. Williams must pass concussion protocol before he can return to the court.

The Hornets are 13-point underdogs.

(1/28/2015) With Hornets guard Kemba Walker out for an extended amount of time, Hornets coach Steve Clifford said they would like to see how guards Jannero Pargo and Gary Neal play in expanded roles before a making a move, reports the Charlotte Observer.

Pargo has been out since Dec. 22 with a back injury, but is expected back soon. Neal is expected to receive more minutes at the point guard spot.

When Pargo does return, however, he could see an increase in playing time due to Kemba Walker being sidelined indefinitely due to knee surgery. Pargo has not played since Dec. 22.

Zeller missed Thursday's game against the Raptors -- his first game missed in his career. He is averaging 8.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Hairston also missed Thursday's game. He is averaging 5.2 points and 2.2 rebounds in 26 games this year.

Meanwhile, Al Jefferson (groin), Lance Stephenson (pelvic) and Jannero Pargo (back) will remain sidelined.

Charlotte is an 8-point road favorite at Madison Square Garden.

(12/24/2014) The Hornets have ruled Lance Stephenson out for Friday's game against the Thunder due to a pelvic strain, the team announced Wednesday. Stephenson will be missing his fifth straight game with the injury.

The team also ruled out point guard Jannero Pargo due to lower back soreness. Pargo has made just nine appearances this season, averaging 4.6 points on 42.9 percent shooting.

Center Al Jefferson is the third player on the injury report for Friday's game, being listed as probable to play with a left groin strain. He was able to play through the injury Tuesday, scoring 12 points in 31 minutes of action.

(2/2/2014) Bobcats guard Jannero Pargo continues to contribute off the bench with Kemba Walker sidelined by an ankle injury.

Pargo scored 12 points in just 22 minutes Saturday against the Suns, though he shot the ball poorly, making 5 of his 12 attempts from the field. He did add six assists and one rebound, while turning the ball over three times in a 105-95 loss.

Pargo has appeared in 16 games this season, seven of which have come since Walker's injury. He is averaging 10.6 points per game over the last six games.

(1/22/2014) Bobcats guard Jannero Pargo has appeared in just 11 games this season, but an ankle injury to Kemba Walker has forced him into reserve duty over the last two games.

He played 12 minutes and provided a solid punch off the bench Wednesday against the Clippers, in a 95-91 win. He scored 11 points on 5 of 8 shooting in his limited minutes, with one 3-pointer, two assists, one steal and one rebound in the win.

Pargo has scored double-digit points in consecutive games since seeing his role increase. He will likely remain the team's primary backup to Ramon Sessions for as long as Walker is out. 


Pargo staying with the Bobcats


(4/3/2013) The Charlotte Observer reports that the Bobcats will sign veteran point guard Jannero Pargo for the rest of the season. Pargo was signed to two 10-day contracts as a fill-in for injured backup Ramon Sessions. Sessions is still out with a sprained knee and Pargo has performed well behind starter Kemba Walker. With Pargo's second 10-day about to expire, the Bobcats had to sign him for the rest of the season or lose him under NBA rules.
