Steve Blake signs with the Trailblazers

(7/10/2014) Veteran point guard Steve Blake inked a two-year deal with the Portland Trailblazers on Thursday, according to Yahoo Sports.

The deal is worth 4.2 million over two years and includes a second-year player option. Blake thrived in Mike D'Antoni's Lakers offense early on last year before being traded to Golden State to play a lesser role. He averaged 6.9 points and 5.6 assists per game overall on the season. 


Steve Blake could make debut vs. Rockets

(2/20/2014) The San Francisco Chronicle reports that newly acquired guard Steve Blake will be available to play for the Warriors on Thursday against the Rockets.

Blake was traded from the Lakers to the Warriors prior to Los Angeles' game against Houston on Wednesday. He was averaging 9.5 points and 7.6 assists over 27 games played.

(2/19/2014) The Warriors and Lakers have completed a trade, with Lakers guard Steve Blake to Golden State in exchange for guards MarShon Brooks and Kent Bazemore, Yahoo! Sports reports.

Blake missed significant time earlier in the season after undergoing elbow surgery and was still feeling discomfort in the elbow before the break. He has averaged 9.5 points and 7.6 assists over 27 games pleyd.

Bazemore appeared in 12 of Golden State's last 16 games but topped four minutes just one, seeing eight minutes of action on Feb. 10. He has averaged 2.3 points on 37.1 percent shooting in 44 games.

Brooks came to Golden State from Boston in January. He made seven appearances with the Warriors, scoring 13 points in 15 minute of action.

(2/14/2014) Lakers guard Steve Blake, who was dealing with some elbow discomfort post-surgery, managed to play in his team's final game before the All-Star break on Thursday against the Thunder.

Blake scored 13 points and shot 4 of 10 from the floor, including 3 of 8 from downtown, and 2 of 3 from the free throw line. He also chipped in with six rebounds, two assists and two steals while logging 38 minutes of game action. He has averaged 8.5 points, 7.2 assists and 5.7 rebounds through his first six game after surgery.

Blake has excelled in the assists and rebounds columns but hasn't quite found his scoring touch, averaging 7.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 8.2 assists since his return.

(2/12/2014) Lakers guard Steve Blake continued to struggle with his shot Tuesday, scoring five points on just 2 of 11 shooting in his team's 96-79 loss to the Jazz.

Blake has had just one quality shooting performance in February, hitting just seven of his 32 shots this month aside from a 5-for-10 night Friday. He tallied eight assists, five rebounds and two steals in 36 minutes in the loss. Blake has averaged 9.3 points and 7.8 assists over 26 games played.


Lakers shake up starting five

(2/11/2014) Flexibility is key when dealing with injuries, so the Lakers have decided to go with the flow as far as their limited rotation is concerned. Los Angeles will send out Steve Nash, Steve Blake, Wesley Johnson, Shawne Williams and Chris Kaman against the Jazz Tuesday night, according to the team website. 

Kaman earned the starting spot by scoring 27 points against Chicago, and Nash confirmed that he'll play despite injuring his knee last time out.

(2/7/2014) Lakers guard Steve Blake followed up his recent triple-double with a solid performance, scoring 14 points on 5 of 10 from the floor, including 4 of 5 from downtown in his team's 112-98 victory over the 76ers in Philadelphia.

Blake, who experienced some pain in his thigh his last time out, played 36 minutes, also adding eight assists, four rebounds, two steals and one block. He has averaged 8.3 points 9.7 assists and 6.3 rebounds over his last three games played.

He is averaging 9.3 points and a career-best 7.9 assists per game in 23 appearances, all starts.

(2/5/2014) With the Lakers ravaged by injuries, guard Steve Blake was forced to shoulder a heavy load Wednesday against the Cavaliers, in just his second game back from an elbow injury.  

Blake played 40 minutes in the game and tried to take a backseat as a scorer, finishing with 11 points on 2 of 7 shooting. He did just about everything else for the Lakers, however, as he recorded the second triple-double of his career with 10 rebounds and 15 assists. He also turned the ball over seven times, while coming up with three steals himself in the 119-108 win.

Blake Has been productive when given the opportunity this season, and the Lakers' injury issues have certainly provided plenty of chances. He is averaging 9.3 points and a career-best 7.9 assists per game in 23 appearances, all starts.

(2/4/2014) Lakers guard Steve Blake played 32 minutes in his return to the court Tuesday but was held scoreless on 0 of 2 shooting in his team's 109-99 loss to the Timberwolves.

Blake had been sidelined since Dec. 13 while dealing with an elbow injury but admitted he was still dealing with pain before Tuesday's game. He also suffered a ruptured eardrum in the loss but plans to travel with the team for Wednesday's game in Cleveland.

Blake recorded six assists, five rebounds and three steals in the loss. He has averaged 9.3 points and 7.6 assists over 22 games played.

(2/4/2014) Lakers guard Steve Blake will be in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Timberwolves, after missing nearly two months of action with an elbow injury. Blake will start at shooting guard and is not expected to have any specific limitations as far as his minutes are concerned, despite still dealing with plain in the elbow while taking jumpers.

"I feel I can jump in and contribute," Blake told the Los Angeles Daily News after shootaround Tuesday. "How well I shoot the ball from 3, I don’t know. But as far as rhythm and understanding the offense, I think it should be fine."

Blake was averaging 9.8 points and 7.7 assists in 31.9 minutes per game in his 21 appearances prior to the injury, but is returning to a crowded Lakers' point guard rotation.


Trio of injured point guards a 'possibility' to return Tuesday

Nash has been out since Nov. 10 while dealing with back issues, while Blake has been out since Dec. 13 due to an elbow injury. Farmar hasn't played since Dec. 31 due to a hamstring issue.


Lakers ailing guards return to practice

(1/30/2014) Lakers guards Steve Blake (elbow) and Jordan Farmar (hamstring) were able to take part in Thursday's practice, though neither is necessarily on the verge of returning.

According to the team's sideline reporter, neither player is a guarantee to play on the team's upcoming road trip, despite their obvious improvement. Farmar is still working to build up strength in the elbow, while Farmar has yet to push his injured hamstring to 100 percent.

Farmar has not played since late December as a result of the injury, and has appeared in just four of the last 33 games. Blake has not played since Dec. 13 while recovering from his injury.

Los Angeles was already without point men Jordan Farmar and Steve Nash, likely forcing the Lakers to add short term replacement via free agency or trade. Blake was having a career year running the Mike D’antoni offense, averaging 9.8 points and 7.7 assists on the year.

(12/7/2013) Lakers guard Steve Blake continues to rack up the assists, as he recorded his third double-digit performance in the last four games Friday, in a 106-100 win over the Kings. Blake dished out 10 assists in the game, while playing 39 minutes. He did turn the ball over four times, while adding 13 points on 5 of 13 shooting.

Blake is thriving as the lead point guard this season, averaging 10.2 points and a career-high 7.8 assists per game. He will likely cede some of the ballhandling duties to Kobe Bryant upon his return Sunday, but remains the only healthy point guard on the roster right now.

Blake also had a season-best four steals while scoring nine points on 3 of 7 shooting and grabbing one rebound in 42 minutes. He'll continue to see the bulk of the playing time at point guard while Steve Nash is out. Blake has averaged 9.8 points and 7.3 assists over 12 games.

(11/11/2013) On a night where the Lakers lost guard Steve Nash to a back injury for an entire half, guard Steve Blake played a team-high 35 minutes and scored a team-high 19 points on 7 of 11 shooting in Sunday's 113-90 loss to the Timberwolves.

Blake hit five of his seven three-point attempts to post a season-high scoring performance Sunday. He added eight assists, three steals and three rebounds to his line in the loss.

(11/8/2013) Lakers guard Steve Blake showed some late-game heroics as he drilled the game-winning 3-pointer in the final second of Thursday's contest against the Rockets in Houston.

Down two points, Blake connected on a 3-pointer from the left corner with 1.3 seconds remaining to seal the win for the Lakers. He went 5 of 10 shooting from the field, including 4 of 6 from downtown. All four of his treys came from that left corner. He finished the game with 14 points, three rebounds and two assists while logging 34 minutes of game action in a 99-98 victory.

Blake has made 7 of his last 13 attempts from 3-point range -- all over his last two games. He has averaged 8.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists through his first five games played.

(4/28/2013) As expected, Lakers guard Steve Blake was held out of Game 4 of Los Angeles' first-round playoff series against the Spurs due to a hamstring injury. Blake, who also missed Game 3 of the series with his injury, averaged 14 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in the postseason.
