Hawks' Kyle Korver has successful surgery, should be back by camp

(6/30/2015) Hawks SG Kyle Korver had successful surgery to remove loose bodies from his right elbow on Tuesday, per NBA.com

It's Korver's third surgery since March. Previously he had procedures to repair a broken nose and ligament damage in his right ankle. 

Korver is expected to return by the start of training camp.

(6/29/2015) Hawks shooting guard Kyle Korver will have elbow surgery on Tuesday, per NBA.com.

The procedure will remove loose bodies from Korver's right elbow. A timetable for recovery will be determined after it's completed. 

Korver will have the procedure performed at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, by Dr. David Altchek.

(6/24/2015) Although the Hawks will be cautious with how Kyle Korver recovers from ankle surgery, Korver expects to be ready for training camp, reports the Atlanta Constitution-Journal.

Krover underwent ankle surgery in late May and was expected to need three months to recover. In 75 games last season, Korver shot 49.2 percent from the 3-point line.

Korver suffered a high ankle sprain during the Eastern Conference finals against the Cavaliers. Korver's recovery is expected to be about three months. 

This season, Korver averaged 12.1 points per game. The Hawks were swept 4-0 by the Cavs.

(5/26/2015) Hawks guard Kyle Korver is set for ankle surgery on Wednesday, according to TNT NBA analyst David Aldridge. 

Korver suffered a severe high ankle sprain in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cavaliers and will not be able to return to the postseason. This season, Korver averaged 12.1 points per game. 

The Hawks trail the Cavaliers 3-0 in the series.

Korver's MRI on Saturday revealed a severe sprain, the team announced. He'll see a specialist to see if surgery is necessary. 

Korver averaged 12.1 points this year and led the NBA in 3-point percentage for the second straight year.

(3/30/2015) After sitting the entire starting lineup for Saturday's contest, the Hawks will most likely be starting Jeff Teague and the other regular starters for Monday's game against the Bucks, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Along with Teague, the Hawks also rested forwards Paul Millsap and DeMarre Carroll, guard Kyle Korver and center Al Horford on Saturday. With the team also playing Tuesday at Detroit, the starters are expected to rest then.

Forwards Paul Millsap and DeMarre Carroll, guard Kyle Korver and center Al Horford will sit out Saturday's game in Charlotte.

Starting guard Jeff Teague is already out with a left ankle sprain.

It's expected that backups John Jenkins, Mike Muscala and Elton Brand will get the start tonight.

Korver has missed the last three games with a broken nose he suffered last Sunday. In 64 games, he is averaging 12.4 points and 4.1 rebounds.

Korver has missed the last three games with a broken nose suffered in Sunday's win.

Sefolosha has been out since Jan. 31 with a Grade 3 calf strain.

The Hawks are 2-point favorites against the Spurs on Sunday.

(3/16/2015) The Hawks announced that guard Kyle Korver will sit out the next three games due to the broken nose he sustained in Sunday's win over the Lakers. 

Korver had a surgical procedure to repair his nose on Monday. 

This puts him out of Monday's game against the Kings, Wednesday's game against the Warriors and Friday's game against the Thunder. With Korver out this week, Dennis Schroder and Kent Bazemore should see increased minutes. 

Korver will be re-evaluated after these three games.

(3/16/2015) The Hawks will be without Kyle Korver, Thabo Sefolosha and Mike Scott for Monday's game against the Kings, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Korver (12.4 ppg) has a nose injury, Sefolosha (5.1 ppg) has a calf injury and Scott (7.5 ppg) has a toe injury. 

Korver broke his nose during Sunday's 91-86 win over the Lakers. 

Scott is expected to miss up from four-to-six weeks after being diagnosed with a broken toe last week. Sefolosha's calf strain is still on track to return to game action in the middle of March.

With Korver in Los Angeles on Monday, he will not play in Monday's game at Sacramento. Dennis Schroder and Kent Bazemore should see their roles increase with Korver out.

The Hawks are 3-0 at home in March but the month has not been kind to the team when it hits the road, as they've now dropped games in Philadelphia and Denver in two of their last three outings. Korver made six three-pointers in his last game, giving him his first set of back-to-back performances with at least five three-pointers all season.

The Hawks will stay on the road Friday to face the Suns in Phoenix.

(3/6/2015) Kyle Korver hit a pair of 3-pointers in the Hawks' 106-97 win over the Cavaliers on Friday, reaching a career milestone. 

The two long-range shots gave Korever 1,686 in his career, moving past Steve Nash into thirteenth place on the NBA's career list. Kobe Bryant is next, with 1,694. 

Korver hit both 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, scoring six of his eight points in the final 12 minutes. 

The Hawks next play at the 76ers on Saturday. 


Hawks SG Kyle Korver announced as All-Star replacement

(2/10/2015) Hawks shooting guard Kyle Korver will replace injured Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade on the 2015 Eastern Conference All-Star roster, the league announced Wednesday.

Korver becomes the fourth Hawks player on the All-Star roster, joining point guard Jeff Teague, power forward Paul Millsap and center Al Horford, all of whom were named as reserves. The Hawks coaching staff will also be serving as the coaches for the Eastern Conference team.

Wade has missed the last six games while recovering from a hamstring injury but was able to practice in full Tuesday.

Korver has averaged 12.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 52 games. He's shot a career-best 51.6 percent from the field and owns an NBA-high 52.8-percent success rate on three-pointers. Korver also owns the NBA record for three-point shooting in a single season, making 53.6 percent of his attempts in 2009-2010 while with the Jazz. His 2014-15 mark would rank second on the all-time single-season leaderboard.


NBA announces contestants for AS three-point competition

(2/5/2015) On Thursday, the NBA announced the participants in the three-point contest to be held during All-Star Weekend.

The players scheduled to compete in the event are Warriors guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, Rockets guard James Harden, Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving, Hawks guard Kyle Korver, Clippers guard J.J. Redick, Spurs guard Marco Belinelli and Trail Blazers guard Wesley Matthews.

The competition will take place Feb. 14 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.


Report: Warriors' Curry, Thompson in three-point contest

The duo will be joined by Hawks' Kyle Korver, Trail Blazer's Wesley Matthews and Clippers' J.J. Redick

Curry has the experience, as the 26-year-old has already participated in two three-point contests. 

Korver, however, may be the favorite. He leads the NBA, shooting 53 percent from beyond the arc. 

Spurs guard Marco Belinelli won the event in 2014.
