Hawks SG Kyle Korver announced as All-Star replacement

(2/10/2015) Hawks shooting guard Kyle Korver will replace injured Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade on the 2015 Eastern Conference All-Star roster, the league announced Wednesday.

Korver becomes the fourth Hawks player on the All-Star roster, joining point guard Jeff Teague, power forward Paul Millsap and center Al Horford, all of whom were named as reserves. The Hawks coaching staff will also be serving as the coaches for the Eastern Conference team.

Wade has missed the last six games while recovering from a hamstring injury but was able to practice in full Tuesday.

Korver has averaged 12.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 52 games. He's shot a career-best 51.6 percent from the field and owns an NBA-high 52.8-percent success rate on three-pointers. Korver also owns the NBA record for three-point shooting in a single season, making 53.6 percent of his attempts in 2009-2010 while with the Jazz. His 2014-15 mark would rank second on the all-time single-season leaderboard.


NBA announces contestants for AS three-point competition

(2/5/2015) On Thursday, the NBA announced the participants in the three-point contest to be held during All-Star Weekend.

The players scheduled to compete in the event are Warriors guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, Rockets guard James Harden, Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving, Hawks guard Kyle Korver, Clippers guard J.J. Redick, Spurs guard Marco Belinelli and Trail Blazers guard Wesley Matthews.

The competition will take place Feb. 14 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.


Report: Warriors' Curry, Thompson in three-point contest

(1/27/2015) Warriors guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are expected to participate in the three-point contest, according to Yahoo Sports. 

The duo will be joined by Hawks' Kyle Korver, Trail Blazer's Wesley Matthews and Clippers' J.J. Redick

Curry has the experience, as the 26-year-old has already participated in two three-point contests. 

Korver, however, may be the favorite. He leads the NBA, shooting 53 percent from beyond the arc. 

Spurs guard Marco Belinelli won the event in 2014.

(1/17/2015) Hawks guard Kyle Korver scored 24 points on 7 of 10 shooting, including 7 of 9 from 3-point range in Atlanta's 107-99 win over the Bulls Saturday. It was the most 3-pointers Korver has made in a game this season and most since Dec. 18, 2013 when he went 8 of 10 from 3-point range.

"I think they enjoy sharing the ball. They enjoy playing with each other," Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer said. "They know that they'll all reap the benefits of it if everybody plays unselfishly."

Korver added six rebounds and two assists to his total Saturday. He and the Hawks will look to keep rolling Monday agaionst the Pistons.


Hawks to be at full strength Friday against the Raptors

(1/16/2015) The Hawks are set to return all of their normal starters to the lineup Friday, coach Mike Budenholzer said Friday. Jeff Teague, Kyle Korver, DeMarre Carroll, Paul Millsap and Al Horford will be the starting lineup after each missed one of the two games Atlanta played this week.

The Hawks are currently 1-point favorites in Toronto Friday.


Hawks' Korver credits new offensive system for his recent success

(1/16/2015) Hawks small forward Kyle Korver credited Mike Budenholzer's system for his shooting prowess this season, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

"This is great for me," Korver said. "I feel like what has helped me a ton is I'm not just waiting for shots. I get to search them out a little bit. As a shooter, that really helps you. It really helps you when (you are not wondering) is the ball going to find me this quarter? Is it not? Here, even if I don't come off a screen, I set the screen. Again, feeling like you matter every single time down the court, it helps you as a basketball player."

Korver ranks first in the league in 3-point field goal percentage (.525), second in free-throw percentage (.917), and 22nd in field goal percentage (.506). Since 2009, Korver has the best 3-point field goal percentage (.464) in the league.


Report: Hawks rest Kyle Korver, Al Horford Wednesday vs. Celtics

(1/14/2015) The Hawks will rest small forward Kyle Korver and center Al Horford Wednesday, and neither player will dress for the team's game against the Celtics, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Korver and Horford were the only two of the team's regular starters to play Tuesday, and both players will now receive a day of rest one game later. Atlanta is a 7-point favorite in Boston Wednesday.

Korver scored 19 points on 6 of 8 shooting from the field, including 5 of 7 from 3-point distance. He also added three rebounds, four assists and one steal. Korver has converted at least three 3-point field goals in five consecutive games.

(12/2/2014) Hawks shooting guard Kyle Korver knocked down six treys and led his team with 24 points in a 109-105 victory over the Celtics on Tuesday.

Korver played a crucial role in Atlanta's 30-19 run in the third quarter, scoring 10 of his 24 points, including two of his six triples in the period. He shot 8 of 9 from the floor, including 6 of 7 from 3-point territory, and 2 of 2 from the charity stripe. He also added six rebounds, four assists one block and one steal while logging 37 minutes of game action.

Korver performance moved him past Glen Rice for 16th in the all-time list for most made 3-pointers. He has knocked down 48 triples through his first 15 games and is well on pace for his second season with at least 200 3-pointers.

(11/8/2014) Hawks shooting guard Kyle Korver caught fire from behind the arc, knocking down six 3-pointers in his team's 103-96 victory over the Knicks Saturday night.

Korver sank four of his six treys and scored 14 of his game-high 25 points in the second half. He shot 7 of 12 from the floor, including 6 of 9 from downtown, and a perfect 7 of 7 from the free throw line. He also chipped in with four rebounds, one assist, three blocks and one steal while logging 38 minutes of game action.

Korver has knocked down 19 3-pointers this season, 10 of which have come over the past two games. He is averaging 16.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists over the last five games.

Korver played a series-high 45 minutes in the decisive game and went 5 for 10 from three-point range for the second time in the series, and while the eighth-seeded Hawks took the top-seeded Pacers to the brink, they weren't able to win either Game 6 or Game 7 to advance.

Both players are day to day moving forward, with the Hawks' next contest set for Monday against the 76ers.

Korver stayed behind in Atlanta to receive treatment for his ongoing bask spasms, and he might join the team in time for Saturday's game if he progresses well enough.  

Korver has missed five straight games due to this injury, and a similar one cost him five games last season as well.

(3/24/2014) Hawks guard Kyle Korver was ruled out for Monday's contest against the Suns because of a back injury, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Korver has now missed three straight games with the injury. He is averaging 15.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 56.5 percent from the floor, and 57.1 percent from downtown over his last seven appearances. His next chance to play will come Wednesday against the Timberwolves.
