News: Kings forward Travis Outlaw saw action for the fourth time in the last five games on Friday night against the Thunder. He scored 10 points and hauled in two rebounds in the 105-95 loss. He went 4 for 10 from the field, including 1 for 2 from downtown, and made his lone free throw. Outlaw also posted a steal and an assist while playing 15 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Outlaw had not been playing much for the Kings but has been making the most of his minutes of late. He is averaging 8.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in his previous four contests while shooting 65 percent from beyond the arc and 50 percent overall. The 28-year-old could earn more playing time if he continues to perform like this but Outlaw remains someone to avoid in Fantasy at this point.
News: Kings small forward Travis Outlaw got a start Wednesday in Milwaukee as he took the place of suspended center DeMarcus Cousins. Cousins was suspended for a low blow against O.J. Mayo when the Kings played Dallas.
Analysis: Outlaw is averaging less than five points per game this season and is not rebounding or hitting 3-pointers with any kind of regularity. He was given the spot start Wednesday but that will not continue. Outlaw has just low-end Fantasy value at this time.
News: Kings forward Travis Outlaw received a rare start on Friday as Tyreke Evans and John Salmons were both out as the team traveled to Utah. Despite being in the starting lineup, Outlaw played just 13 minutes total, as he made just 1 of 5 attempts from the field en route to a two-point game, as the Kings won, 104-103.
Analysis: Outlaw has been largely non-existent since joining the Kings, as he is averaging just 10.5 minutes per game. And he is not doing much to force his way back into the rotation, shooting just 30.5 percent from the field. Outlaw should be avoided in all Fantasy formats.
News: Kings forward Travis Outlaw played for the first time in six games on Sunday against Phoenix, scoring four points on 2 of 4 shooting with one rebound. He also added a block in a 96-88 loss to the Suns.
Analysis: The Kings acquired Outlaw using the Amnesty Clause in the offseason, however they havent been keen on using him much recently, and he hasnt given them much of a reason to be. The veteran is shooting an abysmal 28.9 percent on the season, and should not be owned in any Fantasy leagues right now.
News: The Kings havent seemed to think of F Travis Outlaw as a big part of their rotation this season, so when they shortened their bench on Thursday against the Trail Blazers, it was a surprise to see Outlaw as one of just four reserves to see playing time. Outlaw haw 11 minutes in the game, scoring four points on just 1 of 5 from the field, while grabbing two rebounds in the Kings 95-92 win over Portland.
Analysis: Despite the increased playing time, Outlaw still struggled with his shot, and he is now shooting just 25.7 percent from the field on the season. Outlaw has struggled mightily all year, which has a lot to do with why he is averaging just 11.7 minutes per game. Despite his role in this game, Outlaw is not a consistent part of the Kings rotation and should be ignore in all Fantasy formats.
News: Kings forward Travis Outlaw did contribute eight points in 19 minutes off the bench Saturday against the Grizzlies, but he is still averaging 3.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per game -- his lowest totals since his rookie season in 2003-04. "There's been a lot of transition, but I'm not going to make any excuses," Outlaw told The Sacramento Bee. "They get you to do a job." Outlaw has fallen behind Francisco Garcia and Donte Greene in the forward rotation. "In timeouts during the game, he's talking," coach Keith Smart said. "So when it's time to put him in the game for some reason, he's playing the game already."
Analysis: Outlaw had some decent seasons with the Trail Blazers a few years back, but he has been bouncing around the NBA lately and isn't a big-time contributor. Fantasy owners shouldn't get caught up with the name and leave Outlaw out of active lineups.
News: Kings F Travis Outlaw was not much of a factor during Tuesday night's contest against the 76ers. Outlaw finished with just three points in the 112-85 loss, on 1 of 8 shooting from the field. He missed on both of his attempts from the behind the arc, but he did add three rebounds and two blocks to his stat line, while logging 19 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Many though Outlaw would thrive playing in Sacramento with some of the Kings' talented guards, but that has not been the case thus far. The 27-year-old has only scored in double figures once over his 10 games and is shooting a putrid 28 percent from the field. While Outlaw can be decent source for 3s, owners should leave Outlaw reserved until he turns things around a bit.
News: Kings F Travis Outlaw once again struggled to find his range in Tuesday night's contest against the Trail Blazers. Outlaw missed on all five of his field-goal attempts in the 101-79 defeat and finished with just two points. He went 2 of 3 at the charity stripe and also chipped in with seven rebounds and a steal, while logging 24 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Outlaw has looked shaky in his first two games with the Kings, but that is to be expected after making a switch to a completely new team in a new conference. It looks like he will come off the bench for the Kings, so owners should expect the 27-year-old to see a slight decrease in the 28.9 minutes he averaged with the Nets last year. While he can be a decent source for 3s, Outlaw should only be owned in deeper formats at this point in the season.
News: Kings F Travis Outlaw made his preseason debut with Sacramento in Tuesday night's preseason game against the Warriors. Outlaw, who was signed by the Kings last Saturday, finished with six points and a pair of rebounds, while logging 16 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Outlaw scored 9.2 points per game, right in line with career average of 9.5, but he was completely inefficient in a career high 28.8 minutes per game in his lone season in New Jersey. However, he will now come off the bench for the Kings, which will likely result in a decrease in production across the board for the 27-year-old. Because there are still a ton of unknowns surrounding his role and minutes, owners may want to leave him on the waiver wire to start the season.
News: One day after the Nets waived forward Travis Outlaw with the amnesty clause in the new collective bargaining agreement, the veteran found a new team. According to Yahoo! Sports, the Kings claimed Outlaw off waivers on Saturday.
Analysis: Outlaw scored 9.2 points per game, right in line with career average of 9.5, but he was completely inefficient in a career high 28.8 minutes per game in his lone season in New Jersey. Chances are Outlaw will find his role coming off the bench, which won't give him too much Fantasy value. Owners should consider him a late-round choice on Draft Day, in hopes he has a bounce-back campaign.
News: The Nets announced Friday that they have decided to waive F Travis Outlaw with the amnesty clause in the new collective bargaining agreement, freeing their salary cap from the four years and $28 million left on his contract. They do still owe him the money, but it gives them a re-do on the five year, $35 million contract they gave him last season. Outlaw will now go through waivers, and any team under the salary cap can bid on him.
Analysis: Outlaws lone season in New Jersey was an unmitigated disaster. He scored 9.2 points per game, right in line with career average of 9.5, but he was completely inefficient in a career high 28.8 minutes per game. He shot .375 from the field, the lowest mark of his career, and .302 from three-point range, 40 points below his career mark. Outlaw was a useful Fantasy player in his time with Portland, however the last two years have been a real struggle for him. Keep an eye on where he lands, but dont expect his value to go up too much. Dont look his way before the last few rounds as a bounce-back candidate on Draft Day.
News: Nets F Travis Outlaw can participate in full-contact practices beginning in 10 days, according The Star Ledger. Outlaw broke his shooting hand about nine weeks ago, and had surgery in Colorado. Outlaw remains a strong candidate for the NBAs new amnesty clause, which would allow the Nets to release him and remove $28 million remain on his his contract from their salary cap while still paying him. The report says the Nets have yet to say whether they are planning on doing so, though it would undoubtedly give the team more roster flexibility moving forward.
Analysis: The five-year, $35 million contract Outlaw signed last offseason has been harshly criticized, as the 26-year old shot a paltry .375 from the field last year. Lauded as a shooter with size, he also shot just .302 from three and added only four rebounds per game. Outlaw was practically useless in Fantasy formats last year, but it only two years removed from posting 13.3 and 12.8 points per game for Portland. If he goes to the right team, its possible he could reach those highs again, but after two straight years of sub-.400 shooting, its fair to wonder if he ever will. Dont look his way any earlier than the last few rounds on Draft Day.
News: The New York Daily News reported Monday that Nets SF Travis Outlaw broke his right shooting hand and will be evaluated by team doctors late in the week. The Nets confirmed this on Monday. Outlaw is a candidate to have his contract amnestied under the new CBA, and this injury could put him over the top. More will be known after the Nets evaluate Outlaw later in the week.
Analysis: Outlaw's status for the regular season is unknown until the Nets can evaluate him. Outlaw played all 82 games for the Nets last year and averaged 9.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and a 3-pointer per game over 29 minutes. Outlaw has been inconsistent throughout his career in terms of Fantasy scoring. If Outlaw can carve out a specific role with PG Deron Williams, he'd be worth a late-round pick in deeper Fantasy leagues on Draft Day. However, if this injury and the amnesty clause change things, Fantasy owners might want to stay away.
News: The New York Daily News reports that Nets forward Travis Outlaw plans to be in better shape heading into 2011-12. Outlaw struggled this past season, his first with New Jersey, but GM Billy King expects an improvement from Outlaw next year. We talked to him. He knows. He knows what he has to do. Hes prepared," King said. He understood exactly the mistakes he made. I think sometimes when theyre free agents they dont do anything until they sign their contract. Once you get started, its too late. Outlaw signed with the Nets over the Trailblazers last summer because, in part, he wanted to be a starter. Not long into the season, he was back on the bench, finishing with averages of 9.2 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 37.5 percent from the field. King isnt ready to cast Outlaw as a starter or a substitute next year. I dont know, he said. The way I look at it is every position is open obviously theres some guys where there spots are pretty secure. But his spot has to be earned. He knows whats there and hes got to earn it.
Analysis: We hope that Outlaw can improve this offseason and prove that he deserves to start. Perhaps the addition of Deron Williams will increase his Fantasy value for the 2011-12 season. When the two played together, Outlaw did produce solid outings. He's been inconsistent throughout his career in terms of Fantasy scoring. Owners should see how the offseason pans out for the Nets as they have some holes to fill. If Outlaw can carve out a specific role with Williams, he'd be worth a late-round pick in deeper Fantasy leagues on Draft Day.
News: The regular season is over for New Jersey, but forward Travis Outlaw is still searching for his role on the team. Outlaw signed with the Nets during last offseason, but never developed into the player he was in Portland. Outlaw played in all 82 games -- starting 55 and coming off the bench in 27 -- something he has done twice in his career. His numbers were slightly better as a starter, but ended the season averaging 9.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 assist per outing.
Analysis: Outlaw didn't develop into a solid scoring option for the Nets. If Outlaw remains a starter or can carve out a specific role with Williams, he'd be worth a late-round pick in deeper Fantasy leagues on Draft Day.
News: New Jersey forward Travis Outlaw, who hasn't recorded a double-double all season long, nearly bucked the trend in Sunday's loss to the Heat. He was the team's most efficient scorer on the night, shooting 6 of 12 on the way to 17 points. Outlaw added nine rebounds, three offensively, finishing one board away from the feat. Still, he was a factor on both ends of the floor, recording a season-high three steals in 35 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Outlaw was point guard Deron Williams' most consistent option to go to offensively throughout the night. He had his mid-range jumper going nicely, and made some impressive inside moves as well on the way to one of his better games of the season. Outlaw played solid defensively as well with the boards and thefts. His best effort was on a steal and dunk after picking Zydrunas Ilgauskas' pocket in the post and finishing with two hands on the other end. Still, Outlaw has been pretty inconsistent this year from a Fantasy perspective. Owners should consider him to be a low-end option at best moving forward.
News: New Jersey forward Travis Outlaw wasn't much of a factor in Saturday's win over the Raptors during regulation or in the first pair of overtimes, but he flipped the switch at the end of the third OT. Outlaw scored the final eight points of the afternoon to allow the Nets to hold on for the 137-136 win. He finished the night with 14 points on 4 of 8 shooting off of the bench. Outlaw added seven rebounds, three assists and a pair of blocks on the defensive end while seeing 35 minutes of extended action. "He was instrumental in our win today," point guard Deron Williams said. "We thought we had a mismatch with him on the offensive end. He stepped up and made some big shots but also made some key defensive plays on the other end."
Analysis: Outlaw was New Jersey's closer on both ends of the floor Saturday across the pond. After Sasha Vujacic hit three free throws to start the third OT, Outlaw took the game over. After making two more free throws, Outlaw blocked Andrea Bargnani on the next possession and held on for a jump ball against Amir Johnson. The ball went to Vujacic who missed an easy layup, but Jordan Farmar ended up with the rebound and found Outlaw for a long jumper. On New Jersey's next possession, Outlaw grabbed his own rebound for a putback to make it 135-128. Then the Raptors went on an 8-0 run before Outlaw made the game-winning free-throws. For whatever reason, he picked up the slack for the fatigued Nets when it counted most, though he was a non-factor for the majority of the night. The effort was microcosmic of Outlaw's season, as he looks very good at times after looking pedestrian for long stretches. His inconsistencies warrant him marginal Fantasy value moving forward.
News: New Jersey forward Travis Outlaw was able to take the court on Friday after he suffered a head injury in the Nets' last game. That contest was before the All-Star break, so he had plenty of time to regroup. He came off the bench to score eight points against the Spurs. He struggled to find the range as he went 4 for 13 from the floor -- missing all six of his 3-point attempts. He added a block, two assists and one rebound in his 24 minutes. The Nets would eventually fall to the Spurs, despite Deron Williams' debut, 106-96.
Analysis: Outlaw hasn't panned out for the Nets after they signed him in the offseason. He has lost his starting job to rookie Damion James now that he is healthy. That decreases his already low Fantasy value. For the remainder of the season owners can ignore Outlaw in the majority of formats.
News: Nets F Travis Outlaw suffered an apparent injury in Wednesday's loss at Boston, reports the Boston Globe. Outlaw went down after colliding with Boston's Luke Harangody in the fourth quarter. He was able to walk off on his own power, however. Outlaw played 15 minutes in the game and scored four points with four rebounds and an assist.
Analysis: Outlaw continues to start for New Jersey, but that won't last heading into the second half of the season. With Damion James nearing a return, Coach Avery Johnson has already proclaimed that James with be inserted into the starting lineup when he gets healthy with Outlaw moving back to the bench. Even as a starter, Outlaw only had low-end Fantasy appeal, when healthy.
News: Nets guard Travis Outlaw's shooting struggles continued in Monday's 102-85 loss to the Spurs. Outlaw scored 11 points in the contest but shot just 4 of 13 from the floor. He went 2 of 5 from behind the arc and finished with three rebounds while logging 20 minutes of game action. Outlaw is shooting 30 percent (13 of 43) from the field over his last five games.
The 26-year-old has been in bit of a shooting slump over his last five games and is averaging 7.2 points over that stretch. While he has turned in some quality performances on the season, Outlaw's production has been way too inconsistent to warrant starting in the majority of Fantasy leagues. Continue to view him as a low-end Fantasy option moving forward.
News: The Newark Star-Ledger reports that Nets SF Travis Outlaw might be replaced in the starting lineup by Quinton Ross soon.
Analysis: Outlaw has averaged only 26 minutes during his last two games after averaging 36 i his previous three, so there might be something behind this report. Outlaw's scoring and rebounding are up from last season, but his output has really slipped from back in November and December. Outlaw remains just a low-end option in deeper leagues, and his value could be slipping even further soon.
News: Nets F Travis Outlaw was held to nine points on Sunday against the Pacers. In his last five games, he has been held below 10 points three times. Outlaw has averaged 32.0 minutes per game in that span.
Analysis: Outlaw scored 21 points on Jan. 31 against Denver and has had more than a few outbursts this season for the Nets. However, he has failed to be consistent and as a result has been a poor Fantasy option. Activating Outlaw can be something like trying to catch lightning in a bottle, but he does have the ability to chip in decent totals here and there.
News: New Jersey SF Travis Outlaw, who entered Monday's game having scored in double figures only four times during January, had one of his biggest scoring totals against the Nuggets in a win. Outlaw played 37 minutes and shot 8 of 14 from the field with three 3-pointers to score 21 points, his most in a game since tying that number on Dec. 3. Outlaw added four rebounds, a steal and a block in the performance on Monday.
Analysis: Outlaw has scored in double figures in two of his last three games and is averaging 9.8 per game over his last five. That comes with 4.4 rebounds, a block and a 3-pointer per contest. Outlaw has shown some flashes, but is still consistently only mediocre. Outlaw can be serviceable in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: New Jersey forward Travis Outlaw was again a non-factor offensively in Wednesday's win over the Grizzlies. He started the game, but played just 20 minutes -- finishing with five points on 2 of 6 shooting. It was the fourth straight game he failed to reach 10 points, and the 10th time in 13 games this month. Outlaw chipped in two rebounds, an assist and a block on the night.
Analysis: Outlaw was brought in to be the starting small forward for the Nets, but he has not held up his end of the bargain in the scoring department, averaging just 9.8 points per game. He has shot well from beyond the arc lately, however, connecting on 8 of 17 attempts over his last seven games. Outlaw remains in the starting lineup for the Nets but is a shaky Fantasy option. Consider him only in deeper formats as a low-end option.
News: New Jersey forward Travis Outlaw registered 13 points and eight rebounds in the Nets' 103-95 victory over Utah on Wednesday night. Outlaw sank 5 of 11 shots from the field, including a stellar 3 for 6 from 3-point range, to narrowly miss his first double-double of the season. Outlaw played 35 minutes -- his highest total in the last four games -- as New Jersey stopped a six-game losing skid.
Analysis: After a poor start to January, Outlaw has increased his scoring production recently and has reached double figures in two of his last three games. Outlaw's outing from beyond the 3-point arc marked the first time he has hit at least three treys since Nov. 15 against the Clippers. He remains in the starting lineup for the Nets but is a shaky Fantasy option. Consider him only in deeper formats as a low-end option.
News: Nets SF Travis Outlaw continues to shoot horrendously of late for New Jersey. The Nets fell in overtime in Phoenix on Wednesday and Outlaw shot just 2 of 12 from the field over 37 minutes to score five points. He went 0 for 6 from 3-point range. Outlaw did contribute 11 rebounds, however.
Analysis: Outlaw went 6 for 14 on Jan. 1 at Minnesota for 17 points and has not been able to hit water from a boat since. In his last four games, he's gone a combined 6 for 31 (19 percent) from the field to score a total of 19 points. Wednesday was also his first solid rebounding game in that stretch. Outlaw just doesn't do enough to matter outside deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Nets F Travis Outlaw had his second straight low-scoring performance on Friday night against the Wizards. He scored just four points but hauled in five rebounds in the 97-77 loss. He went 1 of 8 from the field, including 0 for 5 from beyond the arc, but converted both of his free throws. Outlaw, who played 31 minutes, also had two turnovers in the defeat. He has scored just 11 combined points on 3 of 14 shooting over his last two contests.
Analysis: Outlaw went on a nice little run for New Jersey, scoring in double figures in four straight, but his inconsistencies continue to hinder his Fantasy value. He is averaging 11.2 points with 4.2 rebounds over his last five contests but is shooting just 35 percent from the field and a horrid 18 percent from downtown. Outlaw has shown the ability to fill up the stat sheet from time to time but until he starts doing it on a more consistent basis, continue to view the 26-year-old as a low-end option in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Nets forward Travis Outlaw has been playing well for New Jersey and with some key offensive players out of action, Outlaw stepped up his game on Friday. He shot 6 for 17 from the field -- going 1 for 6 from downtown -- and converting 3 of his 7 foul shots. Outlaw finished with 16 points, six boards, one block and one assist in his 39 minutes of action. The Nets have been without Anthony Morrow, but are also missing Jordan Farmar too. Unfortunately Outlaw's performance was in a losing effort, as the Nets lost to the Bulls, 90-81.
Analysis: Outlaw is averaging 11.6 points, 4.4 boards and 1.4 assists over his last five games. He can't find the range from downtown though, as he's gone a dismal 3 for 20 from behind the arc. But on a team that is searching for an identity, Outlaw has been doing enough to make himself Fantasy worthy in deeper leagues. We won't dazzle owners with his numbers, but he'll contribute just enough to make him worth using.
News: Nets SF Travis Outlaw put together a nice game on Tuesday night as New Jersey toppled the Memphis Grizzlies. Outlaw shot 5 of 11 from the field over 37 minutes and scored 11 points. He went 1 for 5 from 3-point range and neared a double-double with nine rebounds. All nine boards came on the defensive end of the floor. Outlaw added one block, one steal and two assists.
Analysis: Outlaw has been highly consistent as a solid all-around performer of late. He's averaging 11.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, a 3-pointer and a steal and block per game over his last five. Outlaw can do a little of everything but is just middle of the road at each category in Fantasy play. That is why he's best utilized in the deeper formats at this time.
News: Nets F Travis Outlaw returned to the starting lineup on Sunday against the Hawks. He replaced Quinton Ross. Outlaw had scored at least 13 points in his three previous games.
Analysis: Outlaw has been hot-and-cold all year and the Nets rotation remains a mess. Fantasy owners should not rush to activate Outlaw outside of deeper leagues, but he does have some mild upside as a potential mid-teens scorer with adequate rebounding for deeper formats.
News: After four single-digit scoring outputs, Nets forward Travis Outlaw has put together back-to-back solid games. He scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds off the bench on Thursday night against the Wizards. He shot 3 for 8 from the field, but converted 7 of his 8 foul shots. Outlaw would make a steal and block a shot in his 26 minutes of court time, helping New Jersey beat Washington, 97-89.
Analysis: Despite scoring in double figures the last two games, Outlaw is just averaging 7.2 points and grabbing 3.8 boards per contest over his last five outings. He's struggling to find his shot as he's shooting 28 percent from the field. He is being efficient at the foul line, but has gotten there just 12 times (making 11 of them). This latest production could be a sign of whats to come, but Fantasy owners should wait and see if he's truly over his mini-slump. Outlaw is only worth using in deeper category-based Fantasy leagues at this time.
News: Despite having a new role on Thursday the results were still the same for New Jersey forward Travis Outlaw. He was demoted to a bench role, giving rookie Damion James a start. Outlaw logged 18 minutes against the Mavericks, but missed all seven of his shots from the floor. His four points all came from the foul line. He would add three rebounds and a block, but the Nets would fall to the Mavericks, 102-89.
Analysis: Outlaw was only worth using in the deepest of Fantasy leagues when he was a starter. Now that he's a role player off the bench, his value takes a big hit. He's averaging 9.2 points and 3.2 rebounds over his last five games. Until he starts finding the rim and contributing in other ways, Outlaw shouldn't be a player of interest in most Fantasy formats.
News: As rumored, struggling Nets SF Travis Outlaw is out of the starting lineup for Thursday's game at Dallas, reports the Bergen County Record, but Damion James is starting in his place, not Terrence Williams.
Analysis: The Nets gave Outlaw a hefty contract in the offseason, but he hasn't made the impact they hoped for, He's averaging 10.8 points per game with plenty of threes, but that obviously wasn't enough to keep him in the starting lineup. He may score in double figures off the bench from time to time, but he won't be consistent enough to matter outside of the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: The Bergen County Record reports that Nets coach Avery Johnson said Wednesday that Terrence Williams will be in the team's rotation for Thursday's game against the Mavericks in Dallas. He also hinted that there may be a lineup change, would not indicate what that would be. Either way, Travis Outlaw's playing time is expected to be affected.
Analysis: The Nets have talked about making a change at power forward, but Williams' red-hot stint in the NBDL has many thinking it could be him in at small forward over Outlaw. If you thought Outlaw was erratic before, he is likely to be even harder to peg now. Until this situation plays itself out, we recommend avoiding Outlaw in all formats.
News: Nets forward Travis Outlaw hit two free-throw to force overtime in Friday's game against the Bobcats. However, it wasn't enough as the Nets fell 91-84. Outlaw had 21 in the loss on 7 of 17 shooting. He went just 1 of 8 from behind the arc but did chip in with six rebounds, three steals, and a block.
Analysis: Outlaw's up-and-down season continues as he has now posted three straight double-digit scoring performances after failing to do so in his previous four games. While he is a decent source for rebounds and 3-point shooting, Outlaw's inconsistent play limits his Fantasy value. Continue to only use him in deeper leagues at this point.
News: After four straight games in single digits in scoring, New Jersey SF Travis Outlaw managed 13 points against the New York Knicks in Tuesday's rivalry game. Outlaw took nine shots for the third straight game but this time he hit five of them, going 2 for 2 from 3-point range. Outlaw only grabbed one rebound and dished out one assist in the game.
Analysis: Outlaw seems like if he scores, he'll contribute nothing else in the way of intangibles. If he boards and passes, Outlaw won't score. With spotty production like that, Fantasy owners can avoid him for the time being outside the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: Nets SF Travis Outlaw shot just 4 for 10 from the field during a win over the Hawks on Tuesday night. Outlaw scored nine points and missed all three 3-pointers he attempted. He added six rebounds and four assists and blocked a shot in the victory.
Analysis: Outlaw has shown the ability to hit from outside and he continues to take 3-6 3-pointers per game. That said, he's also shown the ability to be ice cold from deep. Outlaw has been inconsistent this season for the Nets. His solid rebounding keeps him viable in deeper formats, however.
News: Nets F Travis Outlaw had a horrible shooting night on Wednesday in Utah. He was 1 for 12 from the field and 0 for 5 from beyond the arc, limiting him to just three points and seven rebounds. Outlaw had scored 23 and 24 points in his previous two games.
Analysis: Outlaw got 12 shots even on a night when he hit just one. That is actually a good sign, believe it or not, in that the Nets continue to want to feature him in their offense. He has 20-plus points in three of his last five games, but has scored a combined eight points in his other two. He has been somewhat hit or miss, but is absolutely worth adding off the waiver wire and is even worth inserting into lineups in deeper leagues going forward.
News: Nets forward Travis Outlaw's up-and-down season continued in Saturday's 91-90 loss to the Magic. Outlaw poured in 20 points on 8 of 12 shooting and logged 46 minutes in the defeat. Outlaw hit two 3-pointers in the final 23 seconds of the third quarter, including one with 0.7 seconds left that sent the Nets to the final period with a 69-68 lead. He finished 4 of 5 from behind the arc and also chipped in with seven rebounds and a pair of dimes.
Analysis: Outlaw has scored scored 17-plus points in four of nine games this season, alternating between good outings and poor ones. He is averaging over 37 minutes a game over his last five contests and is an excellent source of 3-pointers. However, his consistency limits his Fantasy value and makes it hard to start him in most formats. He can be left on the waiver wire heading into Week 4.
News: Nets F Travis Outlaw scored a season-high 27 points in Tuesday's game against the Cavaliers, shooting 11 for 22 from the field and 4 for 7 from beyond the arc. He also added seven rebounds, an assist and a block in 42 minutes. He has yet to score in double figures in consecutive games this season.
Analysis: Outlaw has had 17-plus point in three of seven games this season, alternating between solid outings and poor ones. It seems that the Nets will ride the hot hand of either Outlaw or Anthony Morrow, but until they start to prove they can both produce together or until one player emerges as the more consistent option, they remain merely waiver wire targets as short-term solutions in Fantasy.
News: Nets F Travis Outlaw posted another underwhelming stat line in Wednesday's game against the Bobcats. He scored six points with four rebounds in 22 minutes despite being a starter. Outlaw scored in double figures just once in his first four games.
Analysis: That one game was a promising 18-point effort against the Kings, but it appears Outlaw will remain too inconsistent to trust as anything more than an emergency play for deeper leagues. He should be left on the waiver wire in most leagues.
News: New Jersey forward Travis Outlaw showed why the Nets signed him in the offseason on Friday night against the Kings. Outlaw scored 18 points on a 5-for-9 shooting performance -- 2 for 3 from downtown -- and going 6 for 7 at the foul line. He chipped in five rebounds, one assist and hit some key free throws down the stretch to help ice the 106-100 win.
Analysis: Outlaw struggled in his season debut for the Nets, but got into foul trouble early. He got four fouls on Friday too, so that is one part of his game he has to work on. He doesn't want to see his minutes decrease because of sloppy play. The 26-year-old averaged 9.1 points and 3.6 rebounds in 34 games with the Clippers and Blazers last season, but the Nets saw potential in him and went out and got him. Fantasy owners should view him as a low-end option in most leagues, but he has a nice upside -- which Friday's performance showed.
News: Nets F Travis Outlaw had a poor shooting night in the season opener against the Pistons on Wednesday. He went just 1 for 7 from the field and played 21 minutes in the 101-98 loss. His lone basket came from beyond the arc, where he finished 1 for 2 from the 3-point line. Outlaw also chipped in with three rebounds while going 2 for 2 from the free-throw line in the victory.
Analysis: Outlaw got in foul trouble early in the season opener and did not have his finest performance in his Nets debut. The 26-year-old averaged 9.1 points and 3.6 rebounds in 34 games with the Clippers and Blazers last season, which is what Fantasy owners should expect from him most nights. He will put up better stats on nights where his shots fall but don't count on huge totals from Outlaw. Consider him a low-end option in most leagues.

Analysis: Outlaw has played six preseason games and is averaging 9.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and is shooting almost 44 percent from 3-point range. Outlaw played 34 games with the Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers last season. He averaged 9.9 points and 3.5 rebounds with the Trail Blazers and 8.7 points and 3.6 rebounds with the Clippers. He has the ability to fill up a box score, albeit with very modest totals. Expect him to be on and off Fantasy rosters this season.

News: The New Jersey Nets have reached an agreement in principle with free agent forward Travis Outlaw on Thursday. A person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press that Outlaw got a five-year deal worth $35 million. "He is a young, athletic player who will fit in very well with the style of play that Avery [Johnson] has installed."
Analysis: Outlaw played 34 games with the Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers last season. He averaged 9.9 points and 3.5 rebounds with the Trail Blazers and 8.7 points and 3.6 rebounds with the Clippers. He has played in 400 career games, averaging 9.5 points and 3.4 rebounds in 22 minutes while shooting .441 from the field and .363 from 3-point range. His best season was in 2007-08, when he averaged 13.3 points and 4.6 rebounds. Consider that his ceiling from a Fantasy perspective.

Analysis: Outlaw was playing well prior to being injured, scoring in double figures in six of his last 10 games. It appears he is back on track and with many of the Clippers players out with injuries, Outlaw could see significant minutes against the Lakers on Wednesday. Use him as a decent low-end forward in most formats.
News: Clippers SF Travis Outlaw did not play in Saturday's game against the Warriors due to a groin injury. He's missed four straight games.
Analysis: Outlaw was playing well prior to being injured, scoring in double figures in six of his last 10 games. But he's a question mark for a team that was eliminated from the playoffs many moons ago. Don't take an injury risk on him at this stage of the Fantasy season.

News: Clippers F Travis Outlaw had eight points with two rebounds and a steal in 15 minutes of action off the bench Monday night against Utah. He is averaging 10.2 points and 3.4 rebounds in his last five games.
Analysis: Outlaw is getting around 15-20 minutes per game off the bench for the Clippers. He had an 18-point outburst last week against the Suns, but his role will not lead to much consistency and he should only be considered as a waiver-wire stopgap in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Clippers SF Travis Outlaw has been a pleasant surprise since coming over in a trade from Portland, scoring in double figures twice in three games. Friday against the Suns he finished with 18 points, two rebounds, one assist and one block. In 23 minutes, he shot 7 of 13 from the field, including 4 of 7 from 3-point range.
Analysis: Outlaw could settle into a nice little role in Los Angeles. In three games with the Clippers he's averaging 10.7 points and 2.3 rebounds, scoring in double figures twice. He could turn into a viable Fantasy option in deeper leagues if he continues to receive consistent minutes.
News: Clippers F Travis Outlaw, who has been sidelined since November 14 with a foot injury, made his debut against the Bobcats Monday and scored 10 points on 4 of 6 shooting in 16 minutes. He also added a rebound.
Analysis: Although he only played 16 minutes, the Clippers were most likely easing Outlaw back into game shape since he has been out for an extended period of time. Fantasy owners should see how he performs throughout the week before deciding to add him to their lineup. Outlaw is more than capable of scoring in double figures and could be a solid No. 3 Fantasy forward if he plays healthy.
News: According to the Los Angeles Times, Travis Outlaw (foot) is expected to make his Clippers debut Monday against Charlotte. "He'll be rusty, but he'll get minutes," interim coach Kim Hughes said of Outlaw, who has not played since Nov. 14 because of a stress fracture in his left foot. "Basically as many as he can take."
Analysis: Outlaw could have a chance at a significant role at small forward after the team traded away Al Thornton at the trade deadline. He has been out since mid-November and will be trying to adjust to a new team and system, so Fantasy owners may want to give him at least a few games to see how he settles in. But he's already worth a pick up in standard leagues off the waiver wire as a capable double-digit scorer who can chip in around 4-5 boards and a three-pointer per night when he is going well and getting minutes.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Clippers F Travis Outlaw was in dress clothes on the bench in his first opportunity to suit up for the Clippers since coming over from Portland Tuesday in the Marcus Camby trade. That's due to a broken foot sustained on November 14 that has kept him out of NBA action ever since. However, according to the Los Angeles Times Web site, Outlaw could be playing within a week and has already been given the okay to practice with the team, with general manager Mike Dunleavy Sr. saying of the forward: "(He's) a great athlete who makes plays. It's important to have a mobile forward to play against these teams that try to stretch you with 3-point shooting."
Analysis: If Outlaw is able to come back in the next few weeks, he could find himself playing significant role on the Clippers bench since they traded Al Thornton. Fantasy owners should keep tabs on Outlaw's status. Once he returns, Fantasy owners should keep track of his minutes in production during that week to determine if he is worth using in the deepest of leagues.
News: The Trail Blazers and Clippers have completed a trade sending Marcus Camby to Portland for Steve Blake, Travis Outlaw and cash considerations, sources told CBSSports.com's Ken Berger. The deal, which fills the void left by season-ending injuries to centers Greg Oden and Joel Pryzbilla, received league approval Tuesday afternoon.
Analysis: Outlaw remains sidelined with a foot injury, but is getting closer to a return and could be back within the next couple of weeks. In Portland, he had a chance to play a significant bench role as he has in the past once he got healthy again, but he'll have to compete with players like Al Thorton for minutes in L.A., limiting his overall appeal. He'll be waiver wire fodder once again when he is activated.
News: According to Yahoo! Sports, citing league sources, the Portland Trail Blazers agreed in principle Tuesday to acquire Camby from the Clippers. The trade sends Camby to Portland in exchange for forward Travis Outlaw, guard Steve Blake and $3 million cash.

News: According to The Columbian, Trail Blazers F Travis Outlaw (foot) was able to get some work in Tuesday with an assistant coach. He said afterward that hopes to return to practice after the All-Star break and will try to return to playing games by the end of February, according to The Oregonian.
Analysis: Outlaw averaged around 13 points and four boards per game each of the last two seasons and he could play a significant role off the bench again this season once he gets back to full strength. Even at his best, however, Outlaw has been waiver wire fodder, on and off Fantasy rosters.
News: Trail Blazers F Travis Outlaw was able to do some drills in practice, according to The Oregonian. He practiced in some "five-on-zero" drills, but has not been cleared for any "live" work.
Analysis: Outlaw is still at least another month away from returning, but with the Blazers so hampered by injuries there will be a significant role waiting for him when he does return. It's not a bad idea to add him in leagues where he is available.
News: Trail Blazers forward Travis Outlaw had surgery Wednesday to repair a stress fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot. The team says he will be sidelined three to five months. Outlaw, who averages 9.9 points, hurt the foot during the first quarter of the Trail Blazers' game against Charlotte on Saturday night.
Analysis: Outlaw really only has low-end Fantasy value and doesn't need to be stashed on any rosters while he's out.
News: Blazers SF Travis Outlaw will have surgery Wednesday to repair a stress fracture in his left foot. Outlaw fractured the foot last Saturday during the first quarter of the Trail Blazers' game against Charlotte. Playing off the bench, Outlaw averages 10.9 points per game.
Analysis: The original timetable had Outlaw missing 6-8 weeks, but this procedure might alter it some. Still, he doesn't figure to return until January, and since he's just a low-end Fantasy option even when healthy, he's not worth stashing outside of the deepest of leagues.
News: The Portland Tribune reports that Travis Outlaw fractured his left foot in Saturday's game against Charlotte. Outlaw, who was averaging 10.9 points per game, returned to Portland for evaluation. Team officials estimated he could miss six to eight weeks.
Analysis: Outlaw is a serviceable player in standard Fantasy formats due to his presence as a scoring threat off the Portland bench. However, he is mainly just a matchup-based starter who won't be missed too badly in Fantasy leagues. Leave him on waivers until his return nears.
News: Portland forward Travis Outlaw sustained a stress fracture in his left foot during the first quarter of the Trail Blazers' game against Charlotte on Saturday night. Team officials said he was out indefinitely and would return to Portland for further evaluation and could miss 6-8 weeks.
Analysis: Outlaw entered the game third on the team in scoring, averaging 10.9 points. He was a decent waiver wire pickup for some Fantasy owners but should be benched for Week 4 (Nov. 16-22) as it is unknown how long this injury will keep him out. He is a serviceable low-end Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Portland forward Travis Outlaw sustained a stress fracture in his left foot during the first quarter of the Trail Blazers' game against Charlotte on Saturday night. He is questionable for Monday at Atlanta.
Analysis: Outlaw entered the game third on the team in scoring, averaging 10.9 points. Team officials said he was out indefinitely and would return to Portland for further evaluation.
News: Trail Blazers F Travis Outlaw is averaging 12.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists through his first five games this season. He has shot 6 of 15 from beyond the arc and has also chipped in four steals and five blocks.
Analysis: Travis Outlaw is a waiver-wire favorite in Fantasy leagues, often times a go-to guy for one-week fill ins. Well, that's exactly the case for Fantasy Week 3 (Nov. 9-15). The Blazers have a couple of favorable matchups against Memphis and Minnesota in a four-game week and Outlaw has already had a pair of big games against the Rockets and Hawks this season. He should manage a useful week as a No. 4 forward. Martell Webster is getting the starts, but Outlaw has the better possibility for bigger stat lines. .
News: Trail Blazers F Travis Outlaw had 19 points off the bench in Tuesday's game against Atlanta. He played 23 minutes and shot 7 for 15 from the field with 3 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal. He was 1 for 2 from beyond the arc.
Analysis: Outlaw is averaging 12.4 points and 4.8 rebounds in five games off the bench, taking at least 8 shots in each game and at least 10 shots in three of those games. He is a nice addition off the waiver wire and a decent plug-in starter based on matchups.
News: Trail Blazers F Travis Outlaw shot just 1 for 8 from the field in Thursday's game against Denver, limiting him to just 4 points off the bench. He had led the team with 23 points in their opener against Houston. Outlaw did manage 7 rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Outlaw's shot was off Thursday and he never got into a rhythm. Outlaw will continue to try to provide the team with an offensive presence off the bench and could make a strong start in Fantasy leagues when the right matchups arise.
News: Trail Blazers SF Travis Outlaw, who averaged 12.8 points per game mostly as a reserve last season, asserted himself off the bench in the season opener Tuesday against the Rockets. He led the team with 23 points on 9 of 14 shooting, including 3 of 5 from 3-point range. He also had four rebounds, two assists and two steals in 33 minutes.
Analysis: Outlaw should continue to offer points, rebounds and 3-pointers off the bench. His role keeps him from becoming a high-end Fantasy option, but you could do worse for a No. 4 Fantasy forward. He's probably a little under-owned at 30 percent.
News: Portland Trail Blazers forward Nicolas Batum will undergo surgery on his right shoulder to repair torn cartilage. The team said Monday a return date will be determined after Friday's surgery in Los Angeles. His absence likely means Travis Outlaw or Martell Webster will start in his place.
Analysis: Batum appeared in 79 games as a rookie last season, starting 76. He averaged 5.4 points and 2.8 rebounds while earning praise for his defensive ability. He has no real Fantasy appeal even as a starter as most of the minutes at small forward go to Outlaw. Outlaw could be kept with the second unit because the team likes his presence off the bench, but he will remain the more important Fantasy option of the two.
News: Portland SF Travis Outlaw scored 15 points in a loss at Houston on Sunday. Outlaw came off the bench and shot 7-of-13 with a three and five rebounds. He added three assists.
Analysis: Outlaw is averaging 12 points, three boards, two dimes and less than one three per game over his last five contests. He played well Sunday but is far too inconsistent to use in anything but deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Portland SF Travis Outlaw was able to play against the Suns on Thursday against the Suns despite spraining his pinky finger in Monday's game against Philadelphia. He came in off the bench as the team's sixth man While Nicolas Batum got the start over him.
Analysis: Outlaw was not really expected to miss any time due to the sprained pinky as the team is in the middle of a playoff run. He should continue getting 25-30 minutes on the floor and should be considered a No. 4 option in standard leagues.
News: Portland's Nicolas Batum returned to the starting lineup Monday against Philadelphia after missing the past two games with a sprained left ankle. He played just 16 minutes and finished with five points, an assist and a rebound. Travis Outlaw returned to the bench and finished with just four points, two rebounds and an assist in 27 minutes. The Oregonian reports that Outlaw suffered a sprained right pinky finger in the game.
Analysis: Batum is not a very significant Fantasy player despite the fact that he is a starter on a team headed to the playoffs. He should not be inserted back in lineups even now that he is back and starting again, so leave him on waivers in all formats. Outlaw will still get good minutes (around 25-30 per game) off the bench as the team's sixth man. He is good for double-digit scoring on most nights even though he didn't have a good offensive game on Monday. View him as an option to start as a No. 4 forward in standard leagues. The pinky injury does not appear to be too serious at this point.
News:The Oregonian reports that Nicolas Batum will not be activated for Saturday's game. It will be the second consecutive missed game after rolling the ankle in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's game in Indiana. Coach Nate McMillan said Travis Outlaw will start in place of Batum.
Analysis: In Thursday's overtime loss in Cleveland, Outlaw had 17 points and seven rebounds in a career-high 47 minutes. This will be Outlaw's fifth start of the season. He is a player we often recommend off the waiver wire as someone who puts up consistent figures despite his role off the bench. He usually scores in the low to mid teens with a decent amount of rebounds and about a block and steal per contest. He is a good player to stash on your bench for use when the Blazers face favorable matchups -- starter or not.
News: Blazers F Travis Outlaw had 18 points with five rebounds and an assist in Monday's game in Memphis. He is averaging 16.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.0 assists over his last five games.
Analysis: Outlaw is averaging 27.7 minutes off the bench in that span and remains a very productive sixth man. He is a good player to stash on your bench for use when the Blazers face favorable matchups.
News: Portland SF Travis Outlaw played a very nice game on Monday against the Lakers as he scored 22 points in 25 minutes. Outlaw connected on 3-of-5 threes and 6-of-11 overall and added two dimes.
Analysis: Outlaw did absolutely nothing else for the Blazers and is averaging 15 points, five boards and 1.2 blocks per game over his last five. Those kind of numbers make him quite useful in deeper leagues. He is a good player to stash on your bench for use when the Blazers face favorable matchups.
News: Blazers F Travis Outlaw had 15 points off the bench in Thursday's game in Denver. He also added six rebounds in 27 minutes. He is averaging 13.8 points and 5.0 rebounds over his last five games.

He usually scores in the low to mid teens with a decent amount of rebounds and about a block and steal per contest. He is a good player to stash on your bench for use when the Blazers face favorable matchups.
News: Blazers foward Travis Outlaw had eight points and 12 rebounds Thursday at Golden State, but he went 3-for-14 from the floor for Portland.
Analysis: This was only Outlaw's second game of the season with double figures in rebounds, but he missed the double-double because of the poor shooting night. Still, he's playing well coming into the All-Star break and should be considered a No. 3 Fantasy option.
News: Blazers F Travis Outlaw had 21 points off the bench in Wednesday's game against Oklahoma City. He logged 36 minutes and also added three three pointers, four assists, two rebounds and two steals. He has scored at least 20 points in three straight games.
Analysis: Outlaw has made eight field goals in each of the three games and is getting upwards of 15 shots per game during his offensive upswing. He has now played 30-plus minutes in four straight games, but his role as the team's sixth man doesn't guarantee him this type of production on a long-term basis. He's hot at the moment and Fantasy owners should just look to ride that out as long as it lasts.
News: Portland SF Travis Outlaw played 31 minutes in his usual sixth man role on Sunday against the Knicks and scored 23 points. Outlaw hit on 2-of-4 threes and was 8-of-16 overall.
Analysis: Outlaw didn't do much else in the game with just two assists and two rebounds but his scoring makes him a nice option in 12-team and deeper Fantasy leagues. The Blazers play two games in Week 16 and have one of the best matchups of any team in the league in the shortened week. That makes Outlaw a possibility to start in even 10-team leagues for this one-week period of time.
News: Blazers F Travis Outlaw had 20 points, six rebounds, an assist and a block in 34 minutes off the bench Friday in Oklahoma City. He is averaging 13.8 points and 4.8 rebounds over his last five games.

News: Portland backup SF Travis Outlaw played a nice game in a win over New Orleans on Monday night. Outlaw scored 16 points and added six rebounds. He shot 7-of-11 from the floor.
Analysis: Outlaw has been seeing around 25 minutes per game like clockwork and is getting close to 10 shots in the offense off the bench. He is providing some three-point shooting, decent rebounds and about a block and a steal per game. Use him as a No. 4 forward if needed.
News: Blazers F Travis Outlaw had 20 points off the bench in Monday's game at the Clippers. He shot 8-for-9 from the field. He is averaging 12.8 points in his last five contests.
Analysis: Outlaw has been seeing around 25 minutes per game like clockwork and is getting close to 10 shots in the offense off the bench. He is providing some three-point shooting, decent rebounds and about a block and a steal per game. Use him as a No. 4 forward if needed.
News: Blazers forward Travis Outlaw had 18 points and eight rebounds in 27 minutes off the bench Sunday against Milwaukee. He is averaging 16.4 points and 6.2 rebounds over his last five contests with double-digit scoring in six of his last seven games.
Analysis: Outlaw has also made at least one three pointer in six straight games and he is averaging just under 15 points per game off the bench in January. He has this type of upside as he did average 13.3 points per game last season. Fantasy owners should view him as a possible No. 3 or 4 forward option while he remains this productive.
News: Just three games removed from blowing up for 33 points at Chicago, Portland SF Travis Outlaw is playing a lot more like what we expect from him lately. Outlaw scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds over 26 minutes on Saturday in an overtime loss at Charlotte and shot 4-of-14 from the field.
Analysis: Outlaw is averaging just 11 points per game on the year and that is right around what he's averaging in the three games since the monster performance. This current Outlaw is the one we expect going forward. He can have the occasional big game but is clearly nothing more than a low-end Fantasy forward.
News:Travis Outlaw had a season-high 33 points and the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Chicago Bulls 109-95 on Monday night. Outlaw shot 9-of-14 from the field and hit four threes in the game and added seven rebounds with three blocks.
Analysis: Outlaw scored 19 points on Saturday and followed that rare performance with this incredible effort. He's hit six threes in his last two games and is as hot as it gets for a guy owned in just 38 percent of Fantasy leagues. Outlaw has been used at power forward of late and it is really working for him. If this kind of play continues he will be a must-add in all leagues. It might be time to start adding him right now before you are forced to rush to the computer and beat your friends.
News: Blazers SF Travis Outlaw had 14 points in 34 minutes off the bench Wednesday against the Pistons. He also had three rebounds, one assist and one block. He has scored in double figures in seven of his last nine games, averaging 12.1 points per game during that stretch.
Analysis: Outlaw averages just under 11 points per game, so this recent hot streak doesn't change much. His inconsistent scoring and lack of across-the-board contributions make him a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Trail Blazers SF Travis Outlaw, who missed Friday's game with a bruised tailbone, returned to the court Tuesday against the Kings. He finished with five points and four rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Outlaw has been inconsistent this season, averaging right around 10 points and four rebounds. He has some potential, but he doesn't get the minutes he needs to make a significant Fantasy contribution. Consider him a low-end forward.
News: Trail Blazers F Travis Outlaw missed Portland's game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night because of a bruised tailbone. Outlaw took a hard fall on Thursday night during Portland's 97-88 loss at Utah. He also bruised his right hip, and is considered day-to-day. Outlaw, who is in his fifth year in the NBA, is averaging 10.5 points and 3.9 rebounds this season.
Analysis: Outlaw has been inconsistent this season, averaging 10.5 points per game and just under four assists. Even when Outlaw returns from this injury, he can't be counter on as anything more than a stopgap option in deeper leagues.

Outlaw, who is in his fifth year in the NBA, is averaging 10.5 points and 3.9 rebounds this season.
Analysis: Outlaw has averaged 10.5 points this season and about four rebounds. He had some breakout performances last year, but this year has been marked by inconsistency. When Outlaw does return from this injury, he's really nothing more than a stopgap option in deeper formats.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Travis Outlaw had his most ineffective performance of the season, going 0-of-4 from the field en route to his first scoreless game of the season Thursday against the Jazz. He has not scored 10-plus points in back-to-back games since Nov. 24-26, a span of eight games.
Analysis: Outlaw has the ability to score in double figures on a nightly basis like he did a year ago, but he no longer has the guaranteed minutes or shot attempts. He has been playing around 20-25 minutes a night off the bench and has seen five shots one night and 10 the next. Fantasy owners should only consider him as a stopgap for larger formats right now.
News: Trail Blazers SF Travis Outlaw scored 16 points -- his most since Nov. 10 -- in 33 minutes off the bench Tuesday at New York. He also had six rebounds, a steal, a block and an assist.
Analysis: Outlaw averages around 11 points per game, but the Blazers have so many viable options on their bench these days that he likely won't average much more. His name has floated around in trade rumors, but while he remains in Portland, he remains at best a No. 4 Fantasy forward.
News: Blazers F Travis Outlaw scored 20 points in 41 minutes of action off the bench Monday in Orlando. He added five rebounds and three three-pointers. Despite playing off the bench, Outlaw has managed 10-plus points in each of his seven games this season.
Analysis: Outlaw will get his minutes whether he starts or comes off the bench. He's no elite scorer, but he'll usually score in double digits and contribute in most of the other categories as well. He's currently ranked second in the NBA in three-point shooting. Think of him as a No. 4 Fantasy forward.
News: Trail Blazers SF Travis Outlaw, relegated to the bench in favor of rookie Nicolas Batum for a second straight game, had a double-double in 34 minutes Thursday against the Rockets. He finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Analysis: Outlaw will get his minutes whether he starts or comes off the bench. He's no elite scorer, but he'll usually score in double digits and contribute in most of the other categories as well. Think of him as a No. 4 Fantasy forward.
News: The Trail Blazers moved SF Travis Outlaw out of the starting lineup Wednesday at Utah to make room for rookie Nicolas Batum. Outlaw stilled played 23 minutes, though, finishing with 10 points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.
Analysis: No telling yet if this switch will last, but Outlaw will likely see significant minutes either way. He's no elite scorer, but he'll usually score in double digits and contribute in most of the other categories as well. Think of him as a No. 4 Fantasy forward.
News: Portland forward Travis Outlaw led the Blazers on Tuesday at the Lakers with 18 points. He also had four rebounds and two assists with two made three-pointers.
Analysis: Outlaw is capable of scoring in double figures and is a good source of three-pointers, but he doesn't contribute much else. Consider Outlaw a No. 3 Fantasy option at best this season but hope that his shot continues to fall.
News: The Trail Blazers will play three games in Fantasy Week 1 (Oct. 27-Nov. 2). They'll play at the L.A. Lakers on Oct. 28, at home against San Antonio on Oct. 31 and at Phoenix on Nov 1.
Analysis: The Blazers will be without Martell Webster to begin the season, so that means Travis Outlaw will be in the starting lineup at small forward. He had some appeal as a No. 4 forward option last season, but will no longer be the team's sixth man option. That role goes to Rudy Fernandez, who should begin the season as a No. 4 guard, but could emerge into a No. 2 over the course of the season with big minutes coming his way. Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge and Greg Oden are must-starts in Fantasy for Week 1. Steve Blake has some low-end appeal in larger formats as the starting point guard for a three-game team this week. Jerryd Bayless, Joel Przybilla, Channing Frye, Ike Diogu, Nicolas Batum and Sergio Rodriguez should be reserved in all formats until further notice.
News: The Trail Blazers announced that guard Martell Webster suffered a left foot injury Tuesday during a game against Sacramento. An MRI confirmed that Webster has a stress fracture in the fifth metatarsal. The team said it would announce a course of treatment, which could include surgery, and a an official timetable. A stress fracture indicates he will likely miss at least two months. His absence creates a void in the starting lineup.
Analysis: The logical move would be to put Travis Outlaw into the starting lineup, with Outlaw being a more productive small forward anyway. Rudy Fernandez is also an option to move into the starting lineup at shooting guard with Brandon Roy able to play the three. Fernandez fits into a Manu Ginobili type role off the bench, though, and that's the more likely scenario. As for Webster, his numbers weren't very good even as a starter and his absence could actually do more good than harm. Outlaw regains some sleeper appeal in Fantasy.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Travis Outlaw, a Sixth Man of the Year candidate last year, can't help but wonder about his role with Portland this season. He's not sure if he'll get as many touches on a second unit that will include rookie point guard Jerryd Bayless and Spanish shooting guard Rudy Fernandez. "I saw Bayless have a great summer league," Outlaw said. "And Rudy, he had a great Olympics, you know? Shots are going to go down somewhere, and I feel I'm the lowest guy on the totem pole, so it may be me."
Analysis: Outlaw, who turns 24 on Sept. 18, is now the senior member of the Blazers in terms of experience with the club. He has two more years on his contract, but the second year is at the club's option, so he could be in a contract year. "We have a really good team," Outlaw said, "but I don't know if they are going to be able to keep us together. I don't want to be a sixth man forever." Outlaw enjoys playing for the Blazers, however, and would prefer to stay with the team. He has worked out hard this summer and expects to be improved from last season, when he averaged career highs in scoring (13.3) and rebounds (4.6). His personal goal is to raise those numbers to 16 and eight in 2008-09. He'll be worth pick in the middle-to-late rounds as a No. 4 Fantasy forward.
News: Blazers F Travis Outlaw enjoyed career highs in scoring (13.3), rebounds (4.6), assists (1.3) and minutes played (26.6) during the 2007-08 regular season. He appeared in 82 games, mostly off the bench, and became the team's sixth man.
Analysis: Outlaw became the team's source of energy and scoring off the bench early in the season after Jarrett Jack failed in that role and he may have found his niche at the NBA level. Expect the Blazers to give him around 25-30 minutes off the bench again in 2008-09, with a very real possibility that Outlaw could approach a 15-4-1 line. He'll be worth pick in the middle-to-late rounds as a No. 4 Fantasy forward.
News: With C Joel Przybilla sidelined for the rest of the season with a broken hand, the Blazers will have to look to Raef LaFrentz, who was averaging about seven minutes per game, and 6-foot-11 Channing Frye to fill his place in the lineup. Coach Nate McMillan suggested the team might play forward Travis Outlaw at the position as well.
Analysis: Of the three, Outlaw is the only one with any real Fantasy appeal, though Frye could become relevant for the season's final scoring period if he plays starter's minutes. He'd probably be too risky to start for your league's playoffs, though. Outlaw had 14 points and three rebounds Sunday against the Spurs and has averaged 19.3 points over his last four games. Keep him active as a No. 3 Fantasy forward for sure.
News: According to the Oregonian, Portland guard Brandon Roy and team athletic trainer Jay Jensen declared that Roy should be ready to play in the Blazers' next game -- Sunday at home against San Antonio. This means Travis Outlaw will return to the bench.
Analysis: Outlaw is averaging 13.3 ppg, 4.5 rpg and 1.4 apg this season while mostly playing a sixth man role off the bench. His demotion should not affect his output much.
