Analysis: As expected, Perkins wasn't much of a factor in most Fantasy leagues this season, but owners should be used to that buy now. The 28-year-old averaged just 4.2 points on the year -- his lowest scoring output since the 2004-05 campaign. Perkins hasn't held much Fantasy value in each of the last three seasons and we don't see that changing next year.

His status moving forward is unknown.
Analysis: The Thunder play again Friday, so it would not be a surprise to see him sit out another game due to the injury. The Thunder are battling for the top spot in the conference with three games remaining in the season, but have little reason to really risk any further injury to a starter. Perkins continued his slide to obscurity this season, averaging 4.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, his lowest totals since early in his career. He went 2 of 4 from the field and added three assists and one steal to his stat line, while logging 32 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Perkins continues to turn in the occasional productive performance, but the most part he has been a huge disappointment. Continue to view Perkins as merely a low-end option in deeper formats at this point in the year.

He also added one steal and one assist to his stat line, while logging 23 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Perkins hasn't had much Fantasy value since being dealt to the Thunder a few years back and that trend has continued this season. He has scored in double figures in one of his last 11 contests and entered his latest tilt averaging just 4.4 points on the year. Despite Perkins' occasional ability to fill up the box score with blocks and rebounds, owners should continue to roll with the 28-year-old as merely a low-end option at this point in the season.

He is a marginal Fantasy contributor and is only averaging 4.6 points, 5.9 boards and 1.2 blocks per game this season. He also contributed three assists for the second contest in a row while staying on the court for 28 minutes.
Analysis: Perkins has hardly been viewed as an key offensive contributor for the Thunder this season as he has averaged more rebounds than points in each of the first three months. But the veteran center has experienced a surge in production and is connecting on a sizzling 71.4 percent of his attempts over the past five games. It's unlikely to last as he has failed to exceed 12 points in an outing this year. Fantasy owners should still consider him a low-end option only in category-based formats at this point.

Perkins turned in another underwhelming performance Wednesday night, which has been the case for much of the season. News: As expected, Kendrick Perkins was not much of a factor in Oklahoma City's season opener Thursday night against the Spurs. Perkins, who was slowed by a wrist injury in the preseason, finished with two points in the 86-84 defeat. He made one of his two field-goal attempts and also added six rebounds, two assists and one block to his stat line while logging 28 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Perkins has been a major disappointment over his last two seasons in the league as he has come nowhere close to averaging the 10.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.7 blocks he did in his last year in Boston. While he is only 28-years-old, this appears to be as good as it gets for Perkins. Sure he may get hot one night and drop in a 12 or 15 spot, but he will likely finish with stat lines very similar to this one most nights. Consider Perkins more of a low-end reserve option at this point in the year.

Perkins is expected to miss the remainder of the preseason with his injury but added he hopes to be ready for the Thunder's season opener Nov. 1 at San Antonio. Each day it's getting better, Perkins said. I'm starting to get more involved in activities on the court. I'm just trying not to have any setbacks and just keep my target for the beginning of the season.
Analysis: Perkins hurt his wrist during training camp and will now be forced to sit out the entire preseason while he recovers. However, he is once again expected to be the team's starting center when the Thunder travel to San Antonio to take on the Spurs on Nov. 1., so owners should keep an eye on his status moving forward. Perkins was a disappointing Fantasy option during his first full season with the Thunder and produced just 5.1 points a night in 65 games. He almost managed just 6.5 rebounds per game -- his lowest total since the 2007-08 campaign with Boston (6.1) -- and will once again not be asked to do much on the offense end again this year. His rebounding totals were also down as he managed just 6.5 rebounds per game, his lowest mark since the 2007-08 campaign with Boston (6.1). Analysis: Perkins seemed to re-aggravate his hip injury late in the first half, but he was back on the bench for the second half. While he did not re-enter the game, the Thunder were able by 20-plus points at that point, so he wasn't needed. Perkins will be counted on the try and help slow down the Lakers' pair of 7-footers in this series, which will be key for the Thunder to advance. He can be considered a very low-end Fantasy option moving forward.
News: Thunder center Kendrick Perkins is being considered a game-time decision for the opening game of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Lakers on Monday, as he continues to try to recover from a right hip strain suffered over a week ago during Game 4 of the Quarterfinals. He has been practicing and the Oklahoman speculated Sunday that it looks like he will play, however the team remains mum.
Analysis: Perkins scored a grant total of 15 points in three and a half games during the first round, and while he has had ample time to heal, he will have his hands full dealing with the Lakers' big front line. Even if he does play, he is just a low-end Fantasy option for post-season formats.

Despite this solid stretch, Perkins is too limited offensively to rely on as anything more than a low-end option in most formats.

He shot 3 of 5 from the field and also added one assist, one block and one steal to his stat line, while logging 32 minutes of game action.

Analysis: Perkins is hitting just under two field goals per game for the season for the Thunder while putting up just under five points per game. Clearly not a scorer, Perkins gives Fantasy owners around 6-7 rebounds and over a block per game. That makes him a worthy start only in deeper Fantasy formats where you need center help.
News: Thunder center Kendrick Perkins is just two technical fouls away from a one-game suspension, with 11 through 34 games. "It's going to be very difficult for Perk to not engage in any physical play on the court that referees deem that's a little excessive but he has to," coach Scott Brooks said.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Perkins and his technical foul situation, and hopefully he can keep his emotions in check. When healthy and active, Perkins is a low-end center in the majority of leagues.

He was an efficient 2 for 3 from the field and converted 1 of 2 free throws while playing 31 minutes. Perkins also chipped in with six blocks and three assists in the victory.
Analysis: Perkins looked rusty in his return from a knee injury but he showed on Monday why he is so valuable to the Thunder. Owners should consider the 27-year-old a low-end reserve option only in deeper formats for now.

The 27-year-old is in a woeful shooting slump and has recorded just one point over his past three games played. He has finished 0 for 5 from the field during that stretch and is averaging just 4.1 points per game this month. Fantasy owners should consider him a low-end reserve option only in deeper formats for now.

Analysis: Perkins isn't much of an offensive threat and holds minimal Fantasy value. He's averaging just 3.6 points and 6.0 boards per contest over his last five games. When the Thunder have a favorable schedule or five games, Perkins is a serviceable center option. In most leagues he's just not worth the trouble.

News: Oklahoma City C Kendrick Perkins is mired in one of the statistical campaigns of his nine-year career this season. But he is mainly frustrated because he knows he can perform better. Perkins is averaging just 4.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game during his first full season with the Thunder. "I'm struggling," Perkins told the Oklahoman. "I just got to play better. It's not just the rebounding. My points are down. I'm usually one of the league leaders in field-goal percentage. I just got to play better. It's nothing else to it. I just got to play better."
Analysis: Perkins slimmed down immensely during the offseason to provide him better conditioning during the compressed NBA schedule. However, he has uncharacteristically struggled from the field and is shooting a career-low 45.3 percent. "The thing is, I never have been in a slump," Perkins said. "This is my first time being in a slump. I just got to find my way. I figure the only thing I can do is go up from here, though." Perkins averaged at least 7.6 rebounds per game in each of his past three seasons prior to this year so he still remains a solid contributor. For now, he should only be utilized in deeper Fantasy formats.

He scored his two points from the line and added five rebounds and one block. He was also the victim of a highlight reel dunk by Blake Griffin.

Analysis: Perkins has not been much of a Fantasy factor this season as he has only scored in double figures once in the 14 games he has appeared in. He also is averaging just six rebounds per contest, which is well below what he has averaged over that last few years and has yet to register a double-double. While the Thunder have been more than happy with the defensive presence he has been providing in the paint, Fantasy owners should consider leaving the 27-year-old on the bench until he picks up his production.

The 27-year-old has been a bit of a disappointment in the early part of the year, as he is still looking for notch his first double-double of the season. While Perkins' track record suggests he should be able to increase his production a bit moving forward, owners should leave him reserved until that happens.
News: Thunder C Kendrick Perkins had another sub-par performance rebounding the ball on Friday against the Rockets. He finished with just two defensive boards and eight points in the 109-94 win. He went 4 for 6 from the floor while playing 25 minutes. Perkins also had a blocked shot in the victory.
Analysis: Perkins is averaging just 5.3 rebounds through eight games but the rest of his stats have been on par with his career averages. He is putting up 6.6 points with a block thus far as he continues to start at center for the Thunder. He is more valuable in Fantasy when grabbing close to eight rebounds a contest so leave Perkins on the bench in larger formats until he picks up the pace.
News: Thunder C Kendrick Perkins scored 10 points on Wednesday, doing most of his damage from the free throw line as he made six-of-nine attempts from the charity stripe compared to two-of-six from the field. He added just four rebounds and a block to the line in 25 minutes as the Thunder defeated Memphis 98-95.
Analysis: Perkins played in just 29 games last season, and reportedly got into the best shape of his life in the offseason to try to hold up better. So far so good from an injury perspective early, but he has scored just 6.7 points per game with 5.3 rebounds in three games this season. Perkins has not produced enough since the trade to Oklahoma City to justify anything more than spot starts in most Fantasy leagues, so leave him on the bench moving forward.
News: According to the Boston Globe, Oklahoma City C Kendrick Perkins shed weight and added muscle to his already hulking 6-foot-10 frame during the offseason. Perkins, who was acquired by the Thunder from the Celtics last season, said he has been working out in order to help take pressure off his ailing knees. He dealt with an injured left knee most of last season, but said he's in the best shape of his life right now.
Analysis: Perkins was limited to only 29 total games between Boston and Oklahoma City as he missed the first three months of the season while recovering from an ACL injury. He said he went to work immediately after last season in preparation for training camp in October. But with the NBA lockout pushing the start of the season back, Perkins has received more time to rest. Perkins, 27, is just a year removed from averaging nearly a double-double with the Celtics and could be a quality reserve option in 2011-12 Fantasy drafts. Keep an eye on him in camp.
News: The Oklahoman reports that Thunder center Kendrick Perkins plans to improve in 2011-12. Perkins didn't hesitate to label his performance this past season a disappointment. I'd probably give myself a D, just because I know what I was capable of doing, Perkins said. He averaged 5.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 25.2 minutes in 17 regular season with the Thunder. In the playoffs, those figures dipped to 4.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 0.8 blocks despite logging three more minutes per night. It was times that I wanted to break down in the playoffs because things that I was capable of doing in the past without my injuries I couldn't do, Perkins said. But I was trying to give it my all. Not that Perkins cares about critics, but the road to silencing them starts this summer. Perkins wants to show up for training camp at 265 pounds, 20 pounds lighter than he is now. He's hired a nutritionist and is planning to get to work right away, spending most of his time working out in Houston with former coach John Lucas II.
Analysis: Perkins should also improve once his knee gets back to 100 percent, but he's never going to become an outstanding offensive threat. For his career, Perkins averages just 6.4 points and 6.1 rebounds, and he's only had one season in 2009-10 where he averaged double digits in points at 10.1. Go into 2011-12 with Perkins as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy center. He is a good reserve option in most formats, but it's unlikely you want to consider him as a starting option.
News: According to ESPN.com, Thunder center Kendrick Perkins will improve in 2011-12 because he be more mobile after coming back in the middle of the season following last year's knee injury. The report says Perkins then can "be the tough, physical center that the Thunder envisioned at the time he was acquired." Perkins came to Oklahoma City from Boston in the February trade for Jeff Green. With the Thunder, Perkins averaged 5.1 points and 7.9 rebounds in 17 games. In 12 games for the Celtics, Perkins averaged 7.3 points and 8.1 rebounds. And in the postseason, Perkins averaged 4.5 points and 6.1 rebounds.
Analysis: Perkins should improve once his knee gets back to 100 percent, but he's never going to become an outstanding offensive threat.
News: The Oklahoman reports that Thunder coach Scott Brooks said he won't play his regulars their normal minutes Wednesday night against Milwaukee. The starters will start, but don't expect 35-40 minutes. Said Brooks: "We're definitely not taking it easy. We're going to play to give us a good flow, a good rhythm to our team. We want to keep playing good basketball. With that being said, I'm not probably going to play a lot of minutes. I don't see anybody getting in the high 30s, 40s. But I believe in our guys. If the guys coming off the bench get an extra 8 or 9 minutes I expect them to play well, and I expect us to play well as a unit. So I'm not going into the game thinking that this is a night off." This will likely impact Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Serge Ibaka and Kendrick Perkins.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues should use caution with Perkins since he could have minutes reduced. He is a No. 2 Fantasy center in most formats when active, but in less time his production could be limited Wednesday.
News: Thunder center Kendrick Perkins grabbed a season-high 17 rebounds on Wednesday as Oklahoma City beat Los Angeles. We've got goals at hand. When you have bigger goals, you tend to reach smaller goals," Perkins said. He shot 2 for 11 from the floor and went 1 for 2 at the charity stripe, finishing with five points. Perkins added a block in his 33 minutes of court time in the Thunder's 112-108 victory over the Clippers.
Analysis: Over his last five outings, Perkins is averaging 6.4 points, 1.0 assist and 9.8 boards per contest. While he's not known as a scorer, Perkins does the dirty work in the paint. He's still getting his legs under him after missing most of the season after recovering from knee surgery. Perkins will get plenty of minutes for the Thunder as he gets tuned for the playoffs. For that reason, Fantasy owners in deeper leagues should keep him active.
News: Though he didn't score a single point Tuesday against the Warriors, Thunder center Kendrick Perkins continues to do his job in the middle of the lineup. He failed to connect on all three of his shot attempts, but pulled down 13 rebounds to pace the Thunder. Perkins defended the basket as always, blocking a shot for the fourth straight game.
Analysis: Perkins will continue to affect games further than the box score can see, though it doesn't help Fantasy owners in the same capacity. He's averaging just 5.9 points per game since being traded to the Thunder, but he's pulling down nearly eight rebounds per game with a block and a steal defensively. While his role will continue to help the Oklahoma City cause, Perkins style warrant him low-end Fantasy value from here on in.
News: Thunder center Kendrick Perkins returned from a sprained left knee to make his Oklahoma City debut in Monday's 116-89 win over the Wizards. Perkins, who was dealt from the Celtics to the Thunder on the trade deadline Feb. 24, finished with six points and nine rebounds on 2 of 3 shooting from the field. He made both of his free-throw attempts and also chipped in with a pair of assists while logging 20 minutes in the victory. "I felt good," Perkins said. "A little rusty in some spots, but it felt good to be out there contributing in a positive way."
Analysis: Perkins made his long-awaited debut with the Thunder on Monday and looked pretty good in his return. He also gave some Fantasy owners a brief scare early in the first quarter when he left the court and went back into the locker room. Some reports surfaced saying he had hurt his back, but as it turns out, he just need to use the restroom. Perkins showed no ill-effects from his knee injury against the Wizards and should began to see an increase of minutes in each game he plays in. Fantasy owners should continue to keep tabs on how he fares in his first few games back. A healthy Perkins would make a nice addition to most Fantasy teams down the stretch run.
News: According to multiple sources, Thunder center Kendrick Perkins will be in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Wizards. Perkins, who was dealt to the Thunder from the Celtics at the deadline, will be making his first start for Oklahoma City after missing nearly two weeks with a sprained left knee. Were excited to have him back. Hes going to bring us leadership, toughness. Hes a great communicator on the court, Thunder coach Scott Brooks told NBA.com. Guys listen to him. He has great experience.
Analysis: So despite all the conflicting reports, Perkins will be in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Wizards. With the Thunder slated for four games in Week 21 (March 14-20) , Fantasy owners may want to take a flier on Perkins during the upcoming scoring period. Even if he is a bit restricted, the 26-year-old can be a decent source for rebounds and blocks. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy center once he is back at full strength.
News: According to the team's official website, coach Scott Brooks announced that Kendrick Perkins would be in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Wizards. However, that post has been deleted off the team's twitter feed, leaving his status unknown. Perkins has missed the past two weeks with a sprained knee.
Analysis: There seems to be conflicting reports about Perkins' status heading into Monday's game at Washington. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor the situation for a new update as we get closer to tipoff. The Thunder play four times during Fantasy Week 21 (March 14-20) and a healthy Perkins could be considered a No. 2 center.
News:The Oklahoman reports that Thunder coach Scott Brooks would not disclose on Sunday whether or not Kendrick Perkins would make his team debut on Monday in Washington. Perkins was not activated for Sunday's game against Cleveland. Brooks said the team would have to see how he feels on Monday first before making a decision.
Analysis: Perkins was traded from Boston to Oklahoma City already dealing with this injury, but it does seem he is on the verge of making his debut. With the Thunder slated for four games in Week 21 (March 14-20) , Fantasy owners in a tough spot at the center position could look to Perkins -- even a possibly restricted version -- for his rebounding potential and shot-blocking ability. Eventually, we expect him to level out at about 10 points and 10 rebounds per game for the Thunder.
News: Center Kendrick Perkins has returned to practice for Oklahoma City. Coach Scott Brooks says he won't make his Thunder debut Friday night against the Pistons. Brooks says Perkins is being evaluated on a day to day basis and is still trying to learn Oklahoma City's playbook after missing the past two weeks with a sprained left knee. Perkins was traded to the Thunder by the Boston Celtics but has yet to play for his new team.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with Perkins through the weekend and hope he can return soon. The Thunder play four games in Fantasy Week 21, and if Perkins can get back on the court and play at 100 percent then he could return as a No. 2 Fantasy center.
News:The Oklahoman reports that Thunder C Kendrick Perkins was able to go through his first full practice on Thursday since he was acquired from Boston via trade. Perkins hurt his knee, suffering a strained MCL on Feb. 22 and was traded two days later. "It went OK. I'd probably give myself a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10.," said Perkins, who added that he felt no discomfort and was able to move freely. "I was a little rusty in some spots but it went real well."
Analysis: Perkins was expected to miss 2-3 weeks and we are just about at the two-week mark. He should return within the next week and technically has not been ruled out to return over the weekend. He is not a player we recommend counting on for Fantasy Week 21 (March 14-20), but is a player worth stashing for his 10-and-10 upside. The Thunder traded for him because of his size and inside presence and they plan on using him prominently once he is ready.
News: The Oklahoman reports that Thunder center Kendrick Perkins is expected to practice Thursday for the first time since being acquired in a trade with Boston two weeks ago. He previously had gone through individual workouts while rehabbing a sprained left knee. Even when Perkins does join the active roster, there is no guarantee he will start immediately. It depends on the circumstances, how he feels, Thunder coach Scott Brooks said Wednesday. Perkins had offseason surgery on the opposite knee, played in 12 games and started seven with the Celtics this season before being traded to the Thunder. It's definitely going to take him some time, and we understand that, but we like what he brings, Brooks said. We still know we have to get better, even when he's in our lineup.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with Perkins following practice and hope he can return soon. The Thunder play four games in Fantasy Week 21, and if Perkins can get back on the court and play at 100 percent then he could return as a No. 2 Fantasy center.
News:The Oklahoman reports that Thunder coach Scott Brooks said Wednesday that Kendrick Perkins is nearing a return. Asked if there was a chance Perkins could be cleared in time to play against the Pistons on Friday, Brooks said, "Let's put it this way, he's getting closer."
Analysis: Perkins was expected to miss 2-3 weeks and we are two days away from hitting the two-week mark in that timetable.
News:The Oklahoman reports that Kendrick Perkins was able to spend about 20 minutes on Sunday morning running inside the team's practice facility. Perkins is rehabilitating a sprained left knee that is expected to keep him out of the starting lineup another one to two weeks. Thunder coach Scott Brooks said Perkins also did 15-20 minutes of court work Saturday. "It was not at game speed, but he got up and down the court, shot some free throws, he's coming along. We're excited that he'll be with us soon," Brooks said.
Analysis: Perkins has yet to make his debut with Oklahoma City after being dealt over from Boston at the trade deadline. Keep close tabs on developments here, but do not anticipate on having Perkins active in the upcoming scoring period. When healthy, Perkins will help fill a big void up front for Oklahoma City and he is sure to see a great deal of playing time. He is not much of an offensive threat, but should be on the court long enough to rack up around 10 points and 10 boards with good numbers in blocks.
News: Before even playing his first game with his new team, C Kendrick Perkins signed an extension with the Thunder on Tuesday. Perkins joined the team five days ago in trade with Boston. Now, he's due to make about $36 million while staying in Oklahoma City through the 2014-15 season. "It kind of felt like the worst day of my life when I got traded from the Cs, from being there so long. But when I got here, it kind of took my mind away from everything, I think, and everything just kind of blew me away," Perkins said after practice Tuesday. "It was kind of the worst but best day."
Analysis: While Perkins has now opted to stay in Oklahoma City for the next few years, he is still weeks away from making his debut with the club. The 26-year-old suffered a knee sprain in his last game playing with the Celtics and is targeting the Thunder's six-game homestand starting March 18 as a target date. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status in the coming weeks to see when he can get back on the court. Consider Perkins a No. 2 Fantasy center, when healthy.
News: Newly acquired center Kendrick Perkins will have to wait a little longer to make his debut for Oklahoma City. Perkins is expected to miss two to three weeks with an MCL sprain, according to Thunder coach Scott Brooks. Perkins injured the knee against Golden State last Tuesday while he was still a member of the Celtics. The sprain is on his left knee, which isn't the knee he had major reconstructive surgery following the NBA Finals last June. Despite the initial setback, Perkins said after his first practice Saturday he's already thinking about staying with Oklahoma City long term. "I hope I can be here -- I wanna be here," he told the Oklahoman. "I couldn't find a better situation for myself. I really want to be here."
Analysis: While the Thunder paid a pretty hefty price to acquire the big man it always wanted, the team is likely just exhibiting caution by keeping him out. Boston general manager Danny Ainge previously said Perkins would miss "a week or so" with the knee injury, but Oklahoma City doesn't want to risk future problems with its new acquisition, whom it gave up fan favorite Jeff Green for. Perkins has only played 12 games so far this season and hasn't shown any signs of his injured knee bothering him. He is averaging 7.3 points and 8.1 rebounds in the limited time. Fantasy owners in deeper formats should stash Perkins on their bench until he is fully healthy. When he returns, consider him a solid No. 2 Fantasy center with his new team.
News: The Oklahoman reports that new Thunder center Kendrick Perkins, who was traded from Boston to Oklahoma City on Thursday, is not expected to play Friday at Orlando due to a knee injury. Perkins injured his left knee Tuesday in Golden State and is expected to miss one week.
Analysis: Keep Perkins reserved in all leagues Friday, and he isn't expected to play Sunday against the Lakers as well. He also remains a risky Fantasy option for Fantasy Week 19 when the Thunder are scheduled for three games. When healthy and active, Perkins should be considered a low-end No. 2 Fantasy center with his new team.
News: According to various reports, the Thunder and Celtics agreed to a trade Thursday to send Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson from Boston to Oklahoma City in exchange for Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic. Perkins, who left Tuesday's game versus Golden State with bruised left knee, was reportedly going to miss the next three contests for the Celtics. "He's (Perkins) is taking it pretty hard because he's been here eight years. He was real emotional, crying. I feel bad for him," Robinson told the Boston Globe. "With Perk, everybody thinks he's mean because of how he looks but he's a soft giant. He has a good heart. He's a good person." Robinson said he feels Perkins' pain regarding the trade. "I told him he's not alone. We're going (to OKC) together. It's not like you'll be by yourself, you got me right by your side. We're going to make it work together," Robinson added.
Analysis: This trade came as a bit of a surprise and puts Perkins' immediate future in doubt. He will have to pass a physical, which will be interesting considering his ACL injury and current knee issue. Once that is cleared, there is the matter of how long he will be out in the short term. The Celtics were not expecting Perkins back until March 2.
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins, who left Tuesday's game versus Golden State with bruised left knee, is reportedly going to miss the next three contests for the Celtics, reports CSNNE.com Wednesday. Perkins has been diagnosed with a strained left MCL and he's apparently not going to travel with the club on the upcoming three-game road trip to Denver, Los Angeles and Utah.
Analysis: Fantasy owners should be ecstatic about this news if only because Perkins is going to come back good as new after he heals. It wasn't an injury to his surgically-repaired right knee and that is amazing news considering the circumstances. Perkins is averaging 7.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and a block per game over his last 10 contests. He's a solid source of boards and blocks for deeper Fantasy formats everywhere, when healthy.
News: Boston center Kendrick Perkins left Tuesday's game versus Golden State with bruised left knee. He got injured early in the third quarter as he bumped knees with a player on Golden State. He went to the bench and placed an ice pack on his knee and got it wrapped. This was not the same knee that kept him out for the first three months of the season as he had surgery to repair a right anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the offseason. Perkins limped off the court after the Celtics beat the Warriors, 115-93. He shot 2 for 5 from the field and went 1 for 2 at the charity stripe, finishing with five points. Perkins also grabbed seven rebounds and blocked a shot in his 12 minutes on the court. He told CSNNE.com that he hopes to play on Thursday against the Nuggets. "We'll know in the morning," he said. The team is considering him day to day.
Analysis: Perkins limping off the court is not a good sign for the Celtics or Fantasy owners. Over his last 10 outings, Perkins has been averaging 7.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per contest. He's shooting 55.1 percent over that span, which is just what owners like to see. But this knee issue could be a problem as the week continues and should be monitored by all Fantasy owners. Despite being limited to less than 30 minutes a game, Perkins should be viewed as a viable center option in deeper Fantasy formats, when healthy.
News: Celtics center Kendrick Perkins shot just 1 for 4 from the field on Wednesday against the Nets. He did make 3 of his 4 foul shots, finishing with five points in Boston's 94-80 win. He added one block, eight rebounds and a steal in his 27 minutes on the court. Perkins also had three of Boston's nine turnovers.
Analysis: Perkins has been averaging 7.7 points and 8.2 boards a game over his last 10 contests. He is more of a defensive presence for the Celtics and isn't asked to do too much on the offensive end. Pretty much anything he gives Fantasy owners in terms of points is just a bonus. As he continues to ease back into the swing of things, Perkins remains a viable center option in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: After failing to score Sunday and un-impressing three days later, Boston center Kendrick Perkins played solid basketball on both ends of the floor in Thursday's loss to the Lakers. He scored 12 points on 4 of 6 shooting, even sinking 4 of 7 free-throws in the process. Perkins pulled down nine rebounds and added an assist in 31 minutes of action. He dominated the paint for one possession, picking up back-to-back blocks on shot attempts from Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom on consecutive shots.
Analysis: Perkins dealt with some foul trouble, so he saw less minutes than he did in each of the three previous games. Still, he was a solid contributor throughout the night while the Celtics played short-handed in the frontcourt. Perkins nearly notched his second double-double since making his debut late last month after offseason surgery to repair his ACL. With his game-shape becoming less and less of an issue and some help on the way once players heal, Perkins has yet to play his best ball of the year. Fantasy owners should still utilize him as a mid-range option in all formats moving forward.
News: Boston center Kendrick Perkins earned his first start of the season and registered 13 points and 12 rebounds in the Celtics' 101-97 loss to Dallas on Friday night. Perkins finished 6 of 7 from the field to complete his second double-double in a row in only his sixth game back from injury. Perkins also added his first block of the season while playing 33 minutes as he continues to progress back into game shape.
Analysis: Perkins has missed the majority of the season while recovering from offseason surgery to repair his ACL. He has been eased back into the rotation and Friday's game represented his highest minutes total for Boston. He is a solid rebounder and his four offensive boards against the Mavericks matched the total from his four previous games combined. He is still available in nearly half of CBS Sports Fantasy leagues and makes for a strong No. 2 Fantasy center. Fantasy owners in need of an injury replacement should look to Perkins as a viable option on the bench.
News: Celtics center Kendrick Perkins, who had offseason ACL surgery, has made it through five games in eight nights and hasn't had any physical trouble, passing his own psychological test. This definitely helps my confidence, Perkins told the Boston Herald on Thursday. I think its all mental. I keep saying that. A lot of people out there are not 100 percent, so I think youve just got to keep pushing, keep grinding. I feel good. My body feels good. I feel like Im getting in good shape. Its only five games. Im just going to keep on pushing from there. He's expected to regain his spot in the starting lineup soon. He will in due time, coach Doc Rivers said. Theres no date for it or anything. He just looks good, and Im happy. He looks great, so as long as he looks good and doesnt show us anything (that could bring concern), were just going to keep him out there.
Analysis: Perkins has been getting eased back into the rotation for the Celtics, as coach Doc Rivers has been playing the big man about 22 minutes per game. Even when he rejoins the starting lineup Perkins will likely have a minutes limitation to make sure he doesn't suffer a setback. Boston brought in Shaquille O'Neal and Jermaine O'Neal to backup Perkins this season. Since returning to the team, Perkins is averaging 5.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest. He's still available in almost half of CBSSports.com Fantasy leagues, so if you need a center now is the time to pick up Perkins. He was a low-end No. 2 center option last season, and could easily get back to that status in due time.
News: ESPN reports that Celtics C Kendrick Perkins will soon resume his starting role for Boston. Perkins has played in four games since returning in late January from offseason ACL surgery.
Analysis: Perkins averaged 10.1 points and 7.6 Fantasy points last season, which ranked him as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy center in deeper formats. He will certainly be owned in more than 53 percent of leagues once he's back seeing plenty of minutes, so grab him now before someone else does if you're thin at the five spot.
News: Celtics center Kendrick Perkins made his long awaited season debut in Tuesday's 112-95 win over the Cavaliers. Perkins, who had yet to play in a game this year prior to Tuesday due to knee surgery, scored seven points on 3 of 5 shooting from the field in the victory. He also was able to pull down six rebounds in the contest and added three assists in 17 minutes off the bench. I thought bringing Perk back would help us," coach Doc Rivers said. "The guys were excited. They saw how hard he works. He looks great.
Analysis: Perkins made his season debut a little a ahead of schedule, which was welcome news to Celtics and Fantasy owners alike. He looked very productive in his debut, although keep in mind it was against Cleveland. Still, owners should be very encouraged with his effort and with Shaquille O'Neal out with a hip injury, Perkins should see significant minutes once he gets back into game shape. However, with Boston's overloaded frontcourt, Fantasy owners should continue to monitor how he fares and how many minutes he sees before inserting him back into starting lineups. If Perkins can put up numbers similar to last season's 10.1 points and 7.6 rebounds, he can be considered a No. 2 Fantasy center, when he is back at 100 percent.
News: Celtics center Kendrick Perkins is expected to make his season debut in Tuesday's contest against Cleveland, according to the team's official website. Perkins, who has yet to play this season due to knee surgery, original target date was Feb. 4 against the Mavericks, however, he made significant strides in practice this week. Coach Doc Rivers announced Perkins will come off the bench and be limited to 12-16 minutes vs. Cleveland.
Analysis: Perkins will make his season debut a little a ahead of schedule, which is welcome news to Celtics and Fantasy owners alike. With Shaquille O'Neal out with a hip injury, Perkins should see significant minutes once he gets back into game shape. Although, Boston is a little overloaded in the front court, so Fantasy owners should monitor how he fares and how many minutes he will see before inserting back into starting lineups. If Perkins can put up numbers similar to last season's 10.1 points and 7.6 rebounds, he can be considered a No. 2 Fantasy center, when he is back at 100 percent.
News: According to a report on ESPN.com, Celtics center Kendrick Perkins (knee) worked with the second team during practice Monday even with Shaquille O'Neal (hip) out. Coach Doc Rivers said Perkins is already trying to return to game action even though his target date is Feb. 4 against Dallas. Perkins has been out all season after injuring his right knee in the playoffs last year.
Analysis: Continue to monitor what happens with Perkins and hope he can return for his target date, if not sooner. As long as O'Neal remains out that will only enhance Perkins' value. He will likely come off the bench behind O'Neal, but Perkins can get back to being a No. 2 Fantasy center if he gets enough playing time. The problem is the Celtics are loaded in the frontcourt with O'Neal and Glen Davis. Consider Perkins just a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of leagues until he proves otherwise when he's back at 100 percent health.
News: Boston center Kendrick Perkins, who hasnt played this season due to right knee surgery, told NBA.com on Saturday that hes about two weeks away from returning to the court. Hes been working pretty well, Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. He looks good in practice. Hes running well. I dont know if Ive seen him or any other good work as hard as hes worked. Perkins has targeted a Feb. 4 return date when Boston hosts Dallas.
Analysis: Perkins can't come back soon enough for Boston. With Shaquille O'Neal and Jermaine O'Neal both banged up, the Celtics have been relying on Semih Erden and Glen Davis more for frontcourt production. Owners in deeper leagues should keep him stashed until he proves he's 100 percent. Continue to monitor his progress.
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins was able to practice fully on Sunday. "It felt good to be out there again," Perkins said. Perkins is targeting a game on Feb. 4 when the Celtics host Dallas as one in which he could possibly make his return.
Analysis: Perkins will join a frontcourt of Shaquille O'Neal, Jermaine O'Neal and Glen Davis. Both Shaq and Jermaine have been dealing with injuries of their own, but will likely cut into Perkins minutes when he does return. Fantasy owners shouldn't expect Perkins to produce 10.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game he averaged last season. Owners in deeper leagues should keep him stashed until he proves he's 100 percent. This may take him some games, so be patient. When healthy, Perkins is a viable Fantasy center.
News: Celtics coach Doc Rivers announced Tuesday that injured C Kendrick Perkins, who has yet to play in a game this season after tearing ligaments in his knee, will not be allowed to see full contact in practice until next week. Perkins was originally supposed to start contact this week. "[Perkins] didnt do anything live," said Rivers on Tuesday. "We went pretty hard and I didnt want him out there in that. He did skeleton stuff, did some running up and down. But we had a lot of contact and I didnt want him to be part of that."
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins was seen on the practice floor on Monday prior to the Celtics' game against Houston. Perkins got good news that he has been cleared to start full-contact practice with the team this week, reports CSNNE.com. "I feel good about it," Perkins said. "Real good." Perkins has not played since tearing ligaments in his right knee in Game 6 of the NBA Finals against the Lakers last June but could be back on the court by the end of January. "I can't wait to get back out there," Perkins said.
News: Boston center Kendrick Perkins told the MetroWest Daily News that he expects to be the starting center when he returns from his knee injury. The big man has been playing 3-on-3 and will needed a few full practices before he takes the court for the Celtics. Perkins added that he thinks he's about three weeks from returning. He had reconstructive knee surgery in the offseason.

News: The Boston Herald reports that Kendrick Perkins participated in his first practice of the season on Tuesday. The Celtics center, who has targeted mid-January for his return from reconstructive knee surgery, worked through a series of halfcourt drills. "I went through the dummy 'O' a little bit, the dummy offense with the guys, just got up and down a little bit," said Perkins after practice. "Felt pretty good, but just went over the plays with the guys, got a little rhythm. It was good to be out there."
Analysis: The report added that he didn't do anything rigorous, but this is a big first step for Perkins in his rehab. He was able to dunk, albeit tentatively. Continue to monitor his progress. Perkins averaged 10.1 points and 7.6 rebounds with 1.7 blocks per game last season, but will likely be restricted initially when he returns. The presence of Shaquille O'Neal, Jermaine O'Neal and Glen Davis also threatens to keep him below those numbers.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins, who will miss the first half of the season due to a knee injury, let it be known at media day that he expects to start when he is healthy. "I don't want to start nothing, but, really, my spot is not up for grabs," he said in a good-humored way. "When I come back I will be in my spot and then everybody else just has to adjust to me after that."
Analysis: Perkins averaged 10.1 points and 7.6 rebounds with 1.7 blocks per game last season, but he is not guaranteed to play a single game this year. He was a surprisingly consistent Fantasy option in the first half a season ago, only to tail off in the latter stages of the regular season. His season in question, he won't be worth drafting in most Fantasy formats unless you can stash him at very little cost to you.
News: Celtics general manager Danny Ainge said Thursday that C Kendrick Perkins tore his ACL and also injured the MCL and PCL; he could miss half the season or more. Surgery is scheduled for Monday, having been postponed at least twice to allow the swelling to go down and give him a chance to strengthen the muscles in his leg before the operation.
Analysis: Perkins averaged 10.1 points and 7.6 rebounds with 1.7 blocks per game. He was a surprisingly consistent Fantasy option in the first half, only to tail off in the latter stages of the regular season. His season in question, he won't be worth drafting in most Fantasy formats unless you can stash him at very little cost to you.
News: Boston Celtics big men Kevin Garnett and Kendrick Perkins skipped practice with injuries Wednesday, but coach Doc Rivers said he expects both to play in Game 3 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Celtics spokesman Jeff Twiss said Garnett has a mild strain in the middle of his right foot and Perkins has a hyperextended right knee. Although both were at the team's practice facility, neither practiced as the Celtics returned from a day off to begin preparations for Friday night's game.
Analysis: Perkins played 31 minutes with the injury on Monday night and scored 10 points with nine rebounds. Perkins is a quality No. 2 Fantasy center when he's going well and that is how he should be viewed going into next season.
News: Celtics center Kendrick Perkins had 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists and one block Tuesday at New York. Perkins has now scored in double figures in his past three games and is averaging 11.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in his past five outings.
Analysis: Perkins should finish the season playing at this level, and he's a quality No. 2 Fantasy center when he's going well. Keep him active as the Celtics are looking to lock up a top seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins had 10 points with 10 rebounds in Sunday's game against Cleveland in 31 minutes of action. He has scored in double figures in back-to-back games.
Analysis: For Perkins, it was his first time scoring in double figures in back-to-back games since February. Perkins has seen a sharp decline in production in the second half after a very strong start to the season, but these last couple of stat lines along with some favorable front court matchups in Week 24, make him a sleeper to consider.
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins scored 15 points in a loss to the Rockets on Friday. Perkins shot 7 of 10 from the field while adding five rebounds, two blocks and a steal in 34 minutes. It was the first time in his last five games that Perkins has scored in double figures.
Analysis: Perkins is averaging 10.3 points and 7.6 rebounds on the season. His performance on Friday likely means he is no longer hampered by knee tendinitis. When healthy, Perkins can be a viable, low-end No. 2 Fantasy center.
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins returned to action on Wednesday against the Thunder after missing two games due to knee tendinitis. Perkins scored six points in his return over 22 minutes on the court. He shot 2 for 4 from the field and grabbed six rebounds with three blocks.
Analysis: Perkins has been playing with mediocre statistics for a while now as he deals with the knee issues. Perkins is a serviceable No. 2 Fantasy center when healthy but the problem is he's not healthy despite playing through the pain.
News: The Boston Globe reports Celtics center Kendrick Perkins, who missed two games because of knee tendinitis, returned to practice Tuesday and is set to play against Oklahoma City on Wednesday. "I thought I played pretty good at practice and the knees felt better," Perkins said. "And I'm looking forward to getting out there and playing. Something I'll deal with the rest of the season, continue to get treatment, come in at night and get treatment. It was bothering me for the last two months or so. Everybody has injuries in the league, something hurting on everybody. So I've got to keep dealing with it keep hitting the weights, treatment, strengthening, and go from there."
Analysis: Perkins is a serviceable No. 2 Fantasy center when healthy. It appears safe to keep him active in all daily leagues.
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins did not play in Sunday's contest against the Spurs because of a tendinitis in his left knee. It was the second straight game he has missed.
Analysis: Perkins' numbers have dropped tremendously in the second half after what was a very strong first half. He has gone from a solid No. 2 Fantasy center to a reserve stopgap option at best when he's healthy. Do not activate him if you can avoid it.
News: According to the Boston Herald, Celtics C Kendrick Perkins (knee) will likely sit out his second straight game Sunday against San Antonio. He is dealing with tendinitis in his left knee. You know, he may play (Sunday), but I dont think he will, coach Doc Rivers said. Right now I would say no. The way were looking at it, it gives him three extra days because its the only break we have where we have two days off after a game. It just gives him a longer rest."
Analysis: The report added that Perkins' return would be determined by how soon the discomfort goes away. It was bothering him. It was affecting his play. Obviously if it was the playoffs hed be playing, no doubt. But its not, so I think we have to take advantage. Perkins' numbers have dropped tremendously in the second half after what was a very strong first half. He has gone from a solid No. 2 Fantasy center to a reserve stopgap option at best when he's healthy. Do not activate him if you can avoid it.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins sat out of Friday's game against Sacramento due to a sore left knee. He is day to day and was replaced in the starting lineup by Rasheed Wallace.
Analysis: Perkins, who has been increasingly unproductive since the All-Star break, is already reserved in the majority of leagues. After getting off to a hot start this year, he's become no more than a Fantasy reserve. Don't activate him until he can prove healthy and productive again this season. That may not happen at all. Wallace is mainly just a stopgap for deeper leagues. His biggest asset to Fantasy owners these days is his three-point shot.
News: According to the team's official Twitter feed, Celtics C Kendrick Perkins was a late scratch for Friday's game against Sacramento with a sore left knee. He is day to day and was replaced in the starting lineup by Rasheed Wallace.
Analysis: Perkins, who has been increasingly unproductive since the All-Star break, is already reserved in the majority of leagues. Wallace is mainly just a stopgap for deeper leagues. His biggest asset to Fantasy owners these days is his three-point shot.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins had six points with six rebounds in 30 minutes of action Sunday at Cleveland. He has been held under 10 points in three of his last five games.
Analysis: Perkins is averaging just 7.6 points and 6.2 rebounds in his last five games. While that could prove useful at the center position in very deep leagues, it is not enough to recommend starting him in most leagues. Despite his strong first half, Perkins is now just a reserve option in Fantasy.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins scored eight points against the Bobcats on Wednesday after sitting out a game due to illness. In 23 minutes of a blowout, he shot 3 of 4 from the field, adding two rebounds, two assists and one blocked shot.
Analysis: Perkins certainly underwhelmed in February, averaging 8.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks over 12 games. Fantasy owners should hope he gets inspired, as he's playing like a No. 3 Fantasy center instead of his typical No. 2.
News: According to a report on NECN.com, Boston is expected to have center Kendrick Perkins (flu) back in the lineup for Wednesday's game against Charlotte. Perkins was out for Tuesday's game at Detroit.
Analysis: It appears safe to keep Perkins active in daily leagues. He is a No. 2 Fantasy center when healthy.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins did not play in Tuesday's game against the Pistons due to flu-like symptoms. He is listed as day-to-day.
Analysis: Averaging 10.9 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.8 blocks on the season, Perkins is a solid No. 2 Fantasy center. Closely monitor his status in daily leagues, as he could come back as early as Wednesday against the Bobcats.
News: According to Comcast Sports Net New England, Celtics C Kendrick Perkins has been ruled out for Tuesday night's game in Detroit. Rasheed Wallace will start in his place. Perkins is dealing with flu-like symptoms.
Analysis: Perkins will be treated as day-to-day. The Celtics play again Wednesday night against Charlotte and could return then if he is feeling better. In the meantime, Wallace will get a nice boost in minutes and could be used as a stopgap measure in daily lineup leagues.
News: The Boston Globe reports Celtics center Kendrick Perkins (flu symptoms) did not practice Monday and is doubtful for Tuesday's game at Detroit.
Analysis: It sounds like Perkins will be out for Tuesday's game and maybe longer. The Celtics have four games during Fantasy Week 19, so he could return for the final three games if healthy (Wednesday vs. Charlotte, Friday at Philadelphia or Sunday vs. Washington), but be cautious when setting your lineup. Perkins is a No. 2 Fantasy center when healthy.
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins had 13 points and 14 rebounds to guide the Celtics to an 87-86 victory over the Lakers on Thursday. Perkins played 33 minutes, shooting 5 of 7 from the field while adding two blocks. It was the 12th double-double for Perkins this season.
Analysis: Perkins is averaging 6.2 points and seven rebounds per contest over his last five games. The 13 points from Perkins was the first time he reached double figures in his last fives games. His real value comes in on the boards and that is why he is a No. 2 Fantasy center.
News: Celtics center Kendrick Perkins had six points, five rebounds, one assist and one block Tuesday night at Sacramento. Perkins has now failed to reach double figures in points in his past four games and six of his past seven outings. He also has only one game with double figures in rebounds over that span.
Analysis: Perkins has hit a major production lull and is averaging just 6.2 points and 5.2 rebounds over his past five games. His lack of production has coincided with Kevin Garnett returning from a knee injury, so hopefully Perkins can figure out a way to post solid stats with Garnett back in action. Until that happens, Fantasy owners should consider Perkins a low-end No. 2 Fantasy center. He's just not producing enough to warrant use in the majority of leagues.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins had just two points and three rebounds in 22 minutes against the Magic Sunday. He is averaging just 7.8 points and 5.4 rebounds over his last five games.
Analysis: Perkins, who was averaging 11.6 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game coming into Sunday's action, is having a semi-breakout year thanks to a very strong start to the season. But lately, his production has dipped to the point where Fantasy owners should consider reserving him -- especially for a one-game scoring period in abbreviated Week 16.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins scored 13 points Wednesday against the Heat. It was his first game with at least 10 points in his last eight contests. He added five rebounds and two blocks in 27 minutes.
Analysis: Perkins was playing good ball the first half of January, but has cooled off since, scoring in double figures just once in his last eight games, averaging only 8.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.0 blocks over his last five. If he continues this trend his Fantasy value will slip from a No. 2 to a No. 3 center.
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins hauled in 12 rebounds as the Celtics fell 100-91 to Atlanta on Friday. Perkins played 23 minutes shooting just 2 of 4 from the field and adding eight points.
Analysis: Perkins continues to do his job on the boards Boston averaging nine rebounds per game over his last five. He has double figures in rebounding in two of those last five contests. However, his scoring has not reached double figures during that span and Perkins is definitely capable of scoring anywhere from 10-12 per game. He is a solid Fantasy option.
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins managed just four points on Friday in a win over Portland. Perkins shot 1 for 2 from the field over 28 minutes. He did chip in 11 rebounds, two blocks and a steal, however.
Analysis: Perkins is averaging nine boards per game over his last five and 8.3 on the season. He's also swatting 3.4 shots per game of late and 2.1 on the year. Those numbers are where his Fantasy value lies and his scoring, at 12.1 points per game on the year, is just gravy. Perkins remains a solid option at center in all leagues.
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins added 14 points and 10 rebounds in a 96-83 loss to Chicago on Thursday. In 37 minutes of play, Perkins was 5 of 9 from the field.
Analysis: This was the 11th double-double for Perkins this year. He has scored in double figures in his last eight games and continues to show why he is a nice piece to any Fantasy roster.
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins scored 12 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked five shots on Wednesday in a win at New Jersey. Perkins played just 26 minutes as this game was easily in hand early. He shot 6 of 9 from the field.
Analysis: Perkins continues to play well as he's averaging almost 15 points and 10 boards per game over his last five contests. With 2.6 blocks and solid percentages, Perkins looks like a solid Fantasy start in any format.
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins notched his third straight double-double on Friday at Atlanta. Perkins scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. He shot 6 of 10 from the field.
Analysis: Perkins is very consistently around 13-16 points and 7-10 boards per game for the Celtics. He doesn't do much else for your Fantasy team but as far as boards and points go, he's worth using in most Fantasy formats. He's definitely been hot to start January with 16.3 points and 11.3 boards per game in three games this month.
News: Celtics center Kendrick Perkins, who came into Wednesday's game at Miami dealing with an illness, was able to play 40 minutes in Boston's 112-106 overtime victory against the Heat. Perkins finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots. He was 7 of 10 from the field and 6 of 9 from the foul line.
Analysis: Perkins continues to be an underrated center and Fantasy option. He came into this game averaging 12.0 points and 8.0 rebounds with 1.9 blocks per game, and he should be considered a starting center in all scoring formats as no less than a No. 2 option.
News: The Boston Globe reports Celtics center Kendrick Perkins joined the team for shoot-around Wednesday morning, and he will play Wednesday night at Miami. Perkins missed Tuesday's practice due to illness.
Analysis: It appears safe to keep Perkins active in all leagues against the Heat, and hopefully he doesn't suffer any setbacks. When healthy, Perkins is a No. 2 center in all leagues.
News: The Boston Globe reports that Kevin Perkins, who missed Tuesday's practice due to illness, is expected to board the team flight Tuesday afternoon to Miami for Wednesday's game.
Analysis: Perkins has emerged as a very strong No. 2 center option this season in his best overall campaign. He is averaging 12.0 points and 8.0 rebounds with 1.9 blocks per game. Fantasy owners should consider him day to day and questionable for Wednesday's game in Miami.
News: According to the team's official Web site, Celtics C Kendrick Perkins and G Eddie House missed Tuesday's practice because they were sick. House is not expected to travel with the team for Wednesday's game in Miami.
News: According to the Celtics' official Web site, Kevin Garnett (knee), Paul Pierce (knee), Rajon Rondo (hamstring) and Marquis Daniels (thumb) are all ruled out for Saturday's game against Toronto. The Celtics don't play again until Jan. 6 at Miami. In their absence, Ray Allen and Kendrick Perkins could see a big Fantasy boost as well as players like Tony Allen and Eddie House. They could be sleepers for Week 11 and have some sleeper appeal.
Analysis: Allen and Perkins may see the biggest boost in Fantasy production for as long as those players remain out. They make for excellent starts in all Fantasy leagues, but they are good plays under most circumstances anyway. The players who could be sleeper as short-term starters in deeper Fantasy leagues this week would be players like Tony Allen and Eddie House. Consider them off the waiver wire if they are available as stopgap measures.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins racked up 16 rebounds and added 12 points in Friday's loss to the 76ers.
Analysis: Perkins only hit the 16-board mark twice last season, so this was clearly a very solid performance for the big man. He remains a solid No. 2 Fantasy center.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins had 16 points and 11 rebounds Thursday at Washington, giving him his fifth double-double of the season. He has scored in double figures in eight of his last nine games, scoring 15 or more in five of them. He's averaging 14.9 points during that stretch.
Analysis: Perkins is having his best scoring season by far and is still contributing all the blocks and steals he normally does. He's clearly a No. 2 Fantasy center now and should be starting in virtually all leagues.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins scored a season-high 21 points Tuesday at Charlotte, putting him within five of his career high. He also had 12 rebounds to give him his second straight double-double and fourth of the season. He's averaging 16.2 points and 10.2 rebounds over his last five games.
Analysis: The Celtics have relied on Perkins to score more this year than ever before, but Fantasy owners apparently haven't caught on yet since he remains unowned in 34 percent of leagues. If nothing else, you know you're getting plenty of rebounds and blocks; the 12 points per game is just gravy. Think of him as a No. 2 Fantasy center.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins had 12 points and eight rebounds in 23 minutes of play Wednesday against the 76ers. He has scored at least 10 points in six of his last seven games, averaging 11.9 during that stretch. He's averaging 10.6 points for the season.
Analysis: Perkins has never averaged more than 8.5 points per game, and the Celtics really don't need him to do much scoring. But this increase in production combined with all his rebounds and blocks makes him worth using as a No. 2 center in Fantasy.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins had just 3 points with 6 rebounds and 2 assists in Tuesday's game at Philadelphia. He has averaged 8.4 points and 5.0 rebounds through five games.
Analysis: Perkins has scored in double figures just once this season, but he has scored at least 9 points in four of five games. He's the type of player who can be used in cumulative leagues when facing four-game weeks or in average-based play based upon very favorable matchups.
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins struggled as the Celtics' starting center in Tuesday's season-opening win at Cleveland. Perkins scored nine points on 4 of 7 shooting and grabbed just one rebound in over 25 minutes of action. He added one block. Newcomer Rasheed Wallace, on the other hand, was solid in 24 minutes off the bench. Wallace was 4 of 9 and 3 of 6 from three-point range to score 12 points and grab three boards with two blocks.
Analysis: Perkins is a viable Fantasy center in larger leagues, but is more of a No. 3 center in standard formats. The addition of Wallace could end up meaning he sees less minutes and that will definitely hurt his Fantasy value.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins scored 13 points with seven rebounds, four assists and a block in the team's final preseason game. He averaged 8.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game in eight preseason contests.
Analysis: Perkins is a viable Fantasy center in larger leagues, but is more of a No. 3 center in standard formats. Expect him to be on and off the waiver wire in your league all season, but Perkins could be a sleeper in cumulative leagues for Week 1 as the Celtics play four games. Avoid starting him in average-based play in all but the deepest of leagues.
News: The Boston Globe reports Celtics center Kendrick Perkins, who hurt his left shoulder during the playoffs, should not need surgery this offseason. "Right now, Perk is going to be checked out early next week," said Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge. "He'll have an MRI, but right now we're not thinking he needs surgery."
Analysis: It sounds like Perkins will be ready for the start of the season. He should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy center when healthy.
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins (shoulder) was able to play in Game 5 against the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night. Perkins helped the Celtics take a 3-2 series lead by scoring six points and grabbing 11 rebounds in 35 minutes. He also blocked a shot.
Analysis: Perkins will likely continue to feel the effects of the shoulder injury but will try to tough it out as the Celtics attempt to advance to the Eastern Conference finals against the Cavaliers. When healthy, Perkins is a No. 2 center in all leagues and a quality rebounder in all formats.
News: The Boston Globe reports Celtics center Kendrick Perkins sustained a left shoulder strain in the final quarter of Sunday's Game 4 victory at Orlando, but said he plans to play in Game 5 on Tuesday, to the point where he will refuse to have the injury diagnosed by an MRI exam. "It didn't pop out, it's something like a muscle strain," Perkins said of his shoulder last night. "It's the playoffs and the tissues don't have time to heal, so it's weak back there. It'll take two months and I'll be all right. I'm not taking the MRI. If I take the MRI and they find something, I may be out."
Analysis: That's the kind of attitude we like for the playoffs, but Fantasy owners want to make sure Perkins is healthy for the regular season in 2009-10. It won't help with at least two more games going against Dwight Howard and possibly another round, so keep an eye on what happens with his shoulder. When healthy, Perkins is a No. 2 center in all leagues and a quality rebounder in all formats.
News: Perhaps the only downside on a series-changing victory for Boston Sunday against the Magic was that center Kendrick Perkins said he aggravated his left shoulder. He didn't know when it happened and said he would have it evaluated Monday. Perkins had 12 points and 13 rebounds in 40 minutes Sunday. He added two assists.
Analysis: Perkins might have hurt his shoulder Sunday, but he really manned up and played through pain for 40 minutes. Perkins has had some injury issues in his career, but has managed to play 70 or more games the last three seasons. He is still not a double-double guy on a consistent basis, but is improving. He will be more of a No. 2 Fantasy center heading into 2009-10.
News: Boston Celtics center Kendrick Perkins will not face a suspension for an elbow that hit Orlando's Mickael Pietrus in the chin and throat and drew a flagrant one foul.
Analysis: NBA spokesman Tim Frank confirmed in an e-mail Saturday that the league reviewed the play and it stands as called. Replays showed Perkins hit Pietrus while the two were battling for position away from the ball in the fourth quarter of Game 3. Perkins worked his way up to being a decent No. 2 center option this season with the Celtics. He should retain his high-end status heading into the 2009-2010 season.
News: Bonston C Kendrick Perkins was called for a flagrant one foul with 10:15 remaining for an elbow on Mickael Pietrus in Game 3 on Friday. Replays showed Perkins' elbow hit Pietrus in the chin while the two were battling for position away from the ball, the kind of play the NBA has been reviewing -- and sometimes giving out suspensions -- in a postseason that's only becoming more physical.
Analysis: Perkins worked his way up to being a solid center option this season with the Celtics. He should retain his high-end status heading into the 2009-2010 season.
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins was three blocks away from an unconventional triple-double on Friday night against Atlanta. Perkins scored 12 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and swatted seven shots against the Hawks. He was 5-of-7 from the field.
Analysis: Perkins will never win any scoring titles, especially playing with the stars in Boston, but he gives you a lot more that is attractive to any Fantasy owner. He's averaging just seven points per game over his last five games but that comes with 10 boards and 3.4 blocks. Those two averages are very hard to find in Fantasy. At the thin position of center, Perkins is a must-start option.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins had four points and 12 rebounds in Wednesday's game against Charlotte. He also blocked five shots. It was his third game in his last five contests with 11 or more rebounds.
Analysis: With Kevin Garnett sidelined until at least the third-to-last game of the season (April 12 in Cleveland), Perkins should continue to enjoy more activity on the glass. He makes a solid source for boards and blocks in category-based play, but is still a very low-end No. 2 center in standard Head-to-Head formats.
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins recorded a double-double on Monday in a win over the Clippers. Perkins scored 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting and grabbed 13 rebounds. He added two blocks.
Analysis: Perkins has become pretty nice Fantasy option in deeper Fantasy leagues as he's averaging 12 points, eight rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game over his last five. He remains a worthy choice as a matchup No. 2 center.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins scored a career-high 26 points with 12 rebounds, including a career-best nine offensive on Sunday. But he couldn't carry the team as Milwaukee still defeated Boston. Perkins added two blocks and was 9-of-16 from the field and 8-of-10 from the line.
Analysis: Perkins will not see too many scoring nights like Sunday's in the future, especially since Kevin Garnett could return from injury as early as Week 21 (March 16-22). Still, he's a solid source of rebounds with 8.2 per game over his last five games and remains a worthy choice as a matchup No. 2 center.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins had 10 points with eight rebounds, an assist and a block in Sunday's game against Orlando. He has scored in double figures in four straight games and is averaging 11.0 points and 9.2 rebounds over his last five games.
Analysis: Perkins is benefiting from the absence of Kevin Garnett, who will be out through at least next weekend. However, the Celtics play just three games in the upcoming scoring period. Fantasy owners should still consider Perkins merely a matchup No. 2 center.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins had 12 points, six rebounds and two assists in Sunday's game against Detroit. He is averaging 5.6 points and 7.8 rebounds over his last five games.
Analysis: Considering the absence of Kevin Garnett, we expected more out of Perkins this week. Fantasy owners who were burned by his lack of production this week should avoid using him in the upcoming scoring period -- especially as the Celtics play just three games.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins had 11 rebounds and five blocks in Friday's game against Indiana. He scored six points in 27 minutes. He is averaging 8.8 rebounds and 5.6 points over his last five games.
Analysis: Perkins has scored in single digits in his last four games, but is finding other ways to be productive with boards and blocks. One would expect better all-around production with Kevin Garnett sidelined for the next couple of weeks, but this has been it recently. Treat him as a low-end No. 2 center in larger formats for now.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins had just five points with six rebounds in 19 minutes Sunday in Phoenix. He had a double-double in his previous game with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Analysis: Perkins should conceivably see a boost in production (like he saw in his previous game) with Kevin Garnett sidelined for the next couple of weeks and possibly longer. Fantasy owners can consider taking a flier on him if a No. 2 center is needed, though, investing heavily in him is still not advised.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins had 10 points with seven rebounds in Sunday's game against San Antonio. He is averaging 6.6 points and 8.4 rebounds over his last five games.
Analysis: Perkins has had at least seven boards in each of his last five games and is playing well on that end. Fantasy owners can view him as a decent No. 2 option at center in leagues with 12-plus teams as a result. However, the offensive side of his game is leaving something to be desired.
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins had a significant decrease in minutes played on Friday, only seeing 20 minutes of floor time in a 110-100 win over the Knicks. He scored nine points in the game, grabbing seven rebounds and adding two assists.q
Analysis: Perkins is still averaging more than 30 minutes a game over his last five games even when you factor in the 20-minute game. Perkins can still be used as a No. 2 center option as his production was still there even though the minutes were not.
News: The Boston Globe reports that Kendrick Perkins was fined $10,000 by the NBA for the hard foul he committed against Jason Maxiell Friday in Detroit. He was not suspended.
Analysis: Perkins was surprised he got off so easy saying that he thought he would get fined worse. Fantasy owners who rely on him as a No. 2 center can start him without worrying about a suspension now. Analysis: Perkins is not on the floor to put up big numbers scoring. He is out there to get rebounds and block shots. He shouldn't be starting in most leagues but can be useful in Rotisserie leagues for his blocking and rebounding prowess.

Analysis: Perkins entered the game averaging 8.8 points and 8.1 rebounds for the Celtics, the defending NBA champions who started Wednesday with a 13-game lead in the Atlantic Division. Perkins has had three surgeries on the shoulder, making the team even more cautious. Perkins certainly isn't a consistent player from an offensive perspective, but his rebounds and blocks make him a worthy No. 2 Fantasy option when healthy.
News: The Boston Herald reports that Kendrick Perkins (shoulder) may not be used for the team's Jan. 19 game against Phoenix. "Because it's Shaq and (Amare) Stoudamire, I absolutely won't listen to Perk," coach Doc Rivers said before last night's 118-86 win against New Jersey at the Garden. "Unless I hear differently, I don't plan to use him. To me it's a health issue."

News: The Boston Globe reports that Kendrick Perkins has been advised by the team doctor not to rush his return from the left shoulder injury that kept him out of Monday's game against Toronto and will keep him out of games against New Jersey Wednesday and Saturday. "It's getting better by the day and it feels a lot better now. He would rather me sit out a week and not rush it. That's not bad - it used to be by the month. We know we're going to make the playoffs, so there's no rush. I'm sure they would rather have me for the playoffs."
Analysis: This sounds more and more like Perkins could be out for the remainder of the week and possibly into the upcoming scoring period. Brian Scalabrine has been starting in his place, but he is no help in Fantasy. Leon Powe should see the biggest boost. Glen Davis could also see a boost, but it will be minimal. Perkins has the upside of a No. 2 center when healthy and producing.
News:Kendrick Perkins and Tony Allen are expected to be sidelined at least another week for the Boston Celtics. They missed Monday night's game against the Toronto Raptors. Perkins, the Celtics' starting center, missed his second straight game Monday night with a sore left shoulder.
Analysis: Perkins will also miss Boston's other two games this week, both coming against the Nets, Doc Rivers said. "They're out at least until the early part of next week, maybe longer," Rivers said. Rivers said he believed Perkins' shoulder was at least partially dislocated and could be a problem for the rest of the 24-year-old's career. The shoulder "is going to go back out, you know that," Rivers said. "When and what day, we have no idea. But we know it will. It's just bum luck." That means you have to keep the low-end No. 2 Fantasy center inactive until at least Week 13 (Jan. 19-25) if not longer.

Analysis: Perkins had taken just five shots over his last two games and he's been up and down all season. One game he'll be around 10-and-10, the next he'll score five points with three rebounds. Starting him in Fantasy is like trying to catch lightning in a bottle, he is best saved for cumulative-scoring leagues when the Celtics play four games. He can possibly have some value as a replacement for a No. 2 center then.

News: Just like he did all of 2007, Celtics C Kendrick Perkins didn't factor on offense Tuesday in the season opener against the Cavaliers. He finished with only two points in 21 minutes before fouling out. He also had eight rebounds.
Analysis: Perkins might help with some of the defensive statistics, but you can't count on him for any scoring in Fantasy. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy center.
News: The Boston Celtics will play the Cleveland Cavaliers (Oct. 29), the Chicago Bulls (Oct. 31) and the Indiana Pacers (Nov. 1) in Week 1 (Oct. 27-Nov.2) of the Fantasy Basketball season. The defending champions get a tough matchup to start the season against a Cavaliers team that allowed just 96.7 points per game last season. But things get easier after that. The Bulls ranked 16th in the NBA (100.4 ppg) and the Pacers ranked 26th (105.4) and have don't have Jermaine O'Neal any more. Instead, Troy Murphy and Rasho Nesterovic man the low post.

News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins (shoulder) remains questionable for Game 6 of the NBA Finals, which will take place Tuesday in Boston. The Celtics' 280-pound center was wearing street clothes when Lakers guard Jordan Farmar ventured into the key and sank two fourth-quarter layups Sunday night as L.A. cut the series lead to 3-2. Perkins could only watch from the bench while Pau Gasol yanked down 13 rebounds. His strained left shoulder kept him from clogging the middle and convincing opponents they might be better off to stay away. "It probably hurt us, obviously," Boston coach Doc Rivers. "Whenever you lose, the guy that was hurt or the guy that didn't play becomes very valuable."

Expect Glen Davis to get the majority of the minutes even though Leon Powe should start in his place.

News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins scored six points and grabbed 10 rebounds during a loss Wednesday to the Bobcats. Perkins now has 19 rebounds in his last two games, but it was the first time in eight games he grabbed 10 or more rebounds.
Analysis: The Celtics don't ask Perkins to be a big-time scorer and basically keep him on the court for his rebounding presence. Even that isn't spectacular. He remains just a low-end Fantasy center at this time.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins had just four points, two assists and two rebounds in Wednesday's win over Houston before fouling out. He also had three turnovers in the game.
Analysis: Perkins has started all 29 games he's played, but he's been a very shaky contributor. He's an afterthought on a team that starts Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo, but he could be useful as a No. 2 center in larger leagues on a short-term basis because he sees regular minutes and starts.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins had eight rebounds in Thursday's win at Seattle, giving him at least eight rebounds in three straight games.
Analysis: Perkins is still averaging just 6.9 ppg and 5.4 rpg, but a boost in rebounding numbers would make him more useful as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy center.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins had 12 points with four rebounds, an assist and a block Friday vs. Chicago. He shot 4-for-5 from the field.
Analysis: For Perkins, it was the first time since Nov. 27 that he scored over 10 points and the first time in six games he'd scored over five points. He's the regular center in Boston and is getting very solid playing time, but is averaging just 7.1 ppg and 4.9 rpg this season.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins (toe) returned from his one-game absence Friday against the Bucks, scoring four points while grabbing five rebounds in 27 minutes. He missed Wednesday's game after dropping a bed on his foot Monday.
Analysis: Perkins can move past the embarrassing incident, but Fantasy owners can't move past his embarrassing statistical output. He entered Friday's game averaging 7.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, so think of him as nothing more than a low-end Fantasy center.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins (toe) told the Boston Herald that it was "50-50" whether he plays Friday vs. Milwaukee. "It's still sore," said Perkins.
Analysis: The absence of Perkins has allowed Glen Davis to make a case for more minutes, so Perkins will want to return as soon as possible. It doesn't sound like he'll miss much more time, though. Fantasy owners should only view Perkins as a No. 2 center in deeper leagues for now.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins (toe) did not play Wednesday against the Kings. It was the first game he missed since dropping a bed on his foot Monday.
Analysis: The good news is that Perkins doesn't have a broken toe. The bad news is that he is not playing. He is averaging 7.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, making him merely a low-end Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Despite the Celtics' 17-2 record, center Kendrick Perkins failed to get a good night's sleep. What he did get was a sore toe. Perkins said part of his bed fell on his right big toe Monday night, and he might miss the Celtics' game Wednesday against the Kings. "Man, that's a weird story," Perkins said after practice Tuesday. "I was asleep. I guess whoever put my bed together didn't put it together right."
Analysis: X-rays were negative, but Perkins was limited to riding a bike and other non-basketball activities Tuesday. He is averaging 7.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, making him merely a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins blocked three shots for the second straight game Thursday vs. the Knicks. He is averaging 1.7 bpg through 14 games.
Analysis: Perkins is starting at center for the star-laden Celtics, but he isn't going to produce regular scoring numbers or even rebounding numbers. He has been pretty consistent with the blocks and should get you at least seven points and five boards on most nights.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins scored a career-high 21 points Friday against the Lakers. He also pulled down nine rebounds.
Analysis: With so many scoring options in Boston these days, Perkins rarely gets his fill. His previous season high was 10, and he's averaged only 8.0 per game this season. He's merely a low-end option in Fantasy.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins scored five points in Sunday's loss at Orlando after scoring 10 points in back-to-back games for the first time all season.
Analysis: Perkins also went without a block for the first time this season. He's been a great source for help in that category in Rotisserie leagues and has been helpful as a low-end source for rebounds, but he won't get you many points.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins had four points and seven rebounds in Friday's win over Atlanta.
Analysis: Perkins is starting at center on a team that has Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, so he is understandably an afterthought. He has yet to crack double digits in any category this season, but should be a decent low-end No. 2 center somewhere down the line.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins brought down seven rebounds while scoring six points in Sunday's overtime win at Toronto. He was 3-for-6 from the field.
Analysis: Perkins is playing alongside Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo. He's clearly far down the team's totem pole despite being a starter, but don't count him out as a sleeper. He'll get plenty of chances to clean up with very little defensive attention on him. He'll also be a decent rebounder. Remember what Mark Blount did playing alongside K.G. last year?
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins scored five points with four rebounds in Friday's season-opening win vs. Washington. He started and played 25 minutes, shooting 2-for-4 from the field.
Analysis: Perkins is playing alongside Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo. He'll also be a decent rebounder. Remember what Mark Blount did playing alongside K.G. last year?
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins finished with 11 points and five rebounds in a preseason win Wednesday vs. Minnesota. He also had three assists.
Analysis: Perkins figures to be the team's starting center to start the season and as such warrants attention as a sleeper in the late rounds. With all of the defensive attention going to Kevin Garnett in the low post, Perkins figures to be in line for plenty of scraps. Remember what Mark Blount was able to do last season alongside K.G.?
News: Kendrick Perkins started at center for the Celtics during Saturday's preseason game against the Raptors. He finished with eight points, seven rebounds and one assist in 23 minutes.
Analysis: Perkins averaged just 4.5 ppg, 5.2 rpg and 1.3 bpg in 72 appearances during the 2006-07 regular season. He fell well short of expectations, averaging almost a full point less than in his previous season. We had Perkins pegged as a sleeper and he let us down, along with many Fantasy GMs. He will still be worth a late round choice as a sleeper heading into his fifth NBA season. The 22-year-old former first rounder could still be in for a breakout year.

News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins is closer to full strength after playing with the flu over the weekend. He had 11 rebounds against Philadelphia on Wednesday.
Analysis: Perkins has been rebounding extremely well of late and is worth starting in larger leagues as a result. He has some nice upside and is worth taking a flier on in any format. He should finish strong with Al Jefferson (foot) unlikely to play the rest of the way.
News: Celtics center Kendrick Perkins and forward Al Jefferson had 11 rebounds each as the C's beat Charlotte on the boards, 51-36 Wednesday night.
Analysis: Perkins isn't nearly as valuable to Fantasy GMs as Jefferson is, but he has been rebounding extremely well of late and is worth starting in larger leagues as a result. He has some nice upside and is worth taking a flier on in any format. Al Jefferson remains one of the top options on the Celtics, behind only Paul Pierce.
News: Center Kendrick Perkins' streak of three consecutive double-figure rebound games came to an end when he had just four in 17 minutes Saturday at the Spurs.
Analysis: He got in early foul trouble and was never a big factor. We liked Perkins going into the season, but injuries have limited his production this season. Consider adding him in larger leagues because of his rebounding capabilities as a No. 2 center.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins has 32 rebounds in his last three games.
Analysis: We liked Perkins going into the season, but injuries have limited his production this season. Consider adding him in larger leagues because of his rebounding capabilities as a No. 2 center.
News: Celtics center Kendrick Perkins had 12 points and 12 boards against the Hawks. With his eight points and 10 rebounds the previous night in Chicago, he had 20 points and 22 rebounds in 49 minutes.
Analysis: Perkins might be worth adding if you need help at center. He appears to be healthy and getting decent minutes.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins heads into the All-Star break averaging just 4.3 ppg and 4.5 rpg and 1.4 bpg.
Analysis: Perkins has been battling plantar fasciitis in his left foot and has not been able to live up to his projected potential. Keep him stashed away if at all possible in larger leagues.
News: Kendrick Perkins may still be slowed by his sore left foot, but he hasn't lost any of his fight. He had 11 points and five boards in 26 minutes of the 109-107 loss to the Timberwolves on Sunday, and spent some time on Kevin Garnett, who was forced into some tough shots on his way to 26 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Asked about covering Garnett, Perkins said, "It's a challenge, but that isn't really what it is. It's a challenge, but he's still kind of overrated in my opinion. He's a great player, but at the same time we all strap up our shoes the same way. Not taking nothing from him, but I play basketball like he plays basketball."
Analysis: Consider Perkins a low-end No. 2 Fantasy center.
News: Center Kendrick Perkins was back in the starting lineup against Shaquille O'Neal and the Heat after coming off the bench the previous two games. He went scoreless with five rebounds and two blocks in 18 minutes.
Analysis: It's doubtful he'll start against New Jersey Friday. Keep him reserved in all Fantasy leagues at this time.
News: Celtics center Kendrick Perkins had eight points, three rebounds and one assist Tuesday at Detroit.
Analysis: Perkins has minimal Fantasy value at this point. He should only be used as an injury replacement.
News: The Celts changed their starting lineup Friday, moving Rajon Rondo into the backcourt in place of Gerald Green and Brian Scalabrine into the frontcourt in place of Kendrick Perkins.
Analysis: The only thing that will be constant in Boston the rest of the way will be change. This lineup will likely change and the inevitable return of Paul Pierce within the next week or so will certainly have Scalabrine back on the bench. Green went from scoring 22 points one night to two points on Friday, making him a risky start for the upcoming week. Rondo scored 23 points, but should only be used as a stopgap for now. Perkins, however, has lost much of his Fantasy appeal after showing some brief moments of brilliance earlier in the season.
News: Boston center Kendrick Perkins set a season high with four assists Sunday against the Wizards. He surpassed his previous high of two in the first four minutes. He also had seven points and seven rebounds in the game.
Analysis: Perkins is way too inconsistent to be used as more than anything than a low-end Fantasy center at this time.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins had a season-high 15 points and 12 rebounds in a loss to the Hawks Wednesday. Perkins scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the first half as the Celtics led 44-29 at the break.
Analysis: These are the type of numbers that the Celtics and Fantasy owners expected from Perkins. But injuries have derailed his progression and he has not been all that effective this season. Perkins remains a low-end Fantasy center at this time.
News: Celtics center Kendrick Perkins' numbers are off, and much of it has to do with the plantar fasciitis in his left foot that cost him 10 games in December. "Oh, it hurts like hell," he said. "But I don't think there's anything I can do about it now except get rest when I can. I'm just trying to ride it out to the end of the season." Looking ahead to the off-season, Perkins is pondering a lessening of the load on his foot. He's been weighing the merits of lowering his weight from the present 272 to around 250. "That's the approach I'm thinking of taking," Perkins said. "I just don't know if that'd be losing too much."
Analysis: Perkins should only be used as a No. 2 or 3 center in deep Fantasy leagues at this point.
News: Celtics center Kendrick Perkins went scoreless with two rebounds in 12 minutes against the Hawks on Monday. He said before the game he's still bothered by a sore left foot that forced him to miss 10 games in December.
Analysis: This is definitely not good news for the Celtics or Fantasy owners. It is probably best to reserve Perkins in Fantasy leagues until he is back at 100 percent.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins did not score any points in Monday's game at Atlanta.
Analysis: Consider Perkins a No. 3 Fantasy center until he gets back in playing shape.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins was held to two points and three rebounds against the Raptors on Friday.
Analysis: Perkins has not really been sharp in the nine games since returning from a foot injury. He has only played for more than 20 minutes in two games and it looks as though he still could be slowed by the injury. It is probably best to reserve him in Fantasy leagues until he starts contributing on a consistent basis.
News: The Celtics went big Wednesday night, with Kendrick Perkins replacing Ryan Gomes in the starting lineup to play alongside Al Jefferson. "I really think right now it's going to be a game-to-game thing," Rivers told the Boston Herald of the change. "Al's going to start, and then really it's going to depend on matchups for us between Ryan and Perk. I like having that flexibility. We talked about that a long time ago, and unfortunately the injuries happened and we never had an opportunity to do that."
Analysis: Despite the temporary switch, all three players involved continued to see regular minutes. Gomes has lost the luster he'd gained late last season and has been useful only as a stopgap forward this season. Jefferson has been a rebounding machine who has been up-and-down with his scoring and Perkins has been a decent No. 2 Fantasy center when he's managed to stay healthy.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins (ankle) was able to play on Wednesday against the Cavs.
Analysis: Consider Perkins a No. 3 Fantasy center until he gets back in shape after missing 10 games recently with a foot injury.
News: Celtics cnter Kendrick Perkins rolled his right ankle early in the last period Monday against Portland and didn't return, but the injury is not considered serious. The club said he could have come back in if needed.
Analysis: Consider Perkins a No. 3 Fantasy center until he gets back in shape after missing 10 games recently with a foot injury. And hope that the minor ankle injury does not provide a setback.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins played for the first time on Wednesday after missing 10 games with left foot plantar fasciitis and looked rusty in 11 scoreless minutes against the Clippers.
Analysis: It could take Perkins a few games to get back into game condition, so bare with him. Keep him reserved until he starts playing on a more consistent basis. Perkins is worth starting as a No. 2 Fantasy center when healthy.
News: Kendrick Perkins (left foot plantar fasciitis) will play Wednesday against the Clippers if he has no ill effects from two workouts on Tuesday. "It's better than I thought," he said. "My conditioning wasn't that far off. It was decent."
Analysis: Perkins is worth starting as a No. 2 Fantasy center when healthy. It looks as though he is nearing a return.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins said he plans to return December 26th in Denver from his left foot plantar fasciitis.
Analysis: He's a No. 2 center at best when healthy at this point. Reserve him until further notice.
News: Kendrick Perkins said Wednesday after the team's shootaround that he will miss the next three weeks to rest his sore left foot, according to the Boston Globe. Perkins has been battling plantar fasciits for weeks and the injury has only worsened.
Analysis: Perkins was the only healthy center for the Celtics with Michael Olowokandi and Theo Ratliff also battling injuries. He's a No. 2 center at best when healthy at this point.
News: According to the Boston Globe, Celtics C Kendrick Perkins (plantar fasciitis) is "50-50" for Monday night's game at Chicago.
Analysis: Perkins was able to play Friday, but scored just two points in 19 minutes. He was able to add five rebounds and two blocks. Fantasy owners that rely on him as their No. 2 center in leagues of 12-plus teams should consider his ailment when deciding whether to start him for the upcoming scoring period, especially if you have healthy alternatives. The Celtics are slated for four games this week.
News: Kendrick Perkins tried to sneak onto the court for Thursday's practice, but Doc Rivers sent him back to the sideline to rest his sore left foot (plantar fasciitis). "He tried, and I told him to get off the floor," said Rivers. "(The team physician) said that his foot is still hot. 'Perk' said he needs to practice, and he's right, but I need him to play. He was able to play Friday, but scored just two points in 19 minutes.
Analysis: He was able to add five rebounds and two blocks. Fantasy owners that rely on him as their No. 2 center in leagues of 12-plus teams should consider his ailment when deciding whether to start him for the upcoming scoring period, especially if you have healthy alternatives. The Celtics are slated for four games next week.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins scored just one point in Wednesday's loss to New Jersey and finished 0-for-1 from the field. He did block five shots, though.
Analysis: Perkins continues to start in place of Theo Ratliff, making him someone to own in leagues of 12-plus teams. He'll have to become more consistent both on the glass and in the paint for us to recommend him as a great start.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins scored five points while adding eight rebounds Wednesday at Charlotte.
Analysis: Perkins is benefitting from the absence of Theo Ratliff. Consider him a viable No. 2 center in larger leagues.
News: Boston Celtics center Michael Olowokandi will be sidelined two to four weeks because of a slight tear in his abdominal muscle, the team said Friday. Olowokandi joins Al Jefferson and Theo Ratliff on the bench, leaving Kendrick Perkins as Boston's only healthy player taller than 6-foot-9.
Analysis: Perkins is already benefitting from the absence of Theo Ratliff and Al Jefferson. The young center has a high ceiling and should be considered a viable No. 2 center in larger leagues now more than ever.
News: Center Kendrick Perkins posted his second consecutive positive outing Saturday, getting 12 points and 11 rebounds against Cleveland.
Analysis: Perkins is benefitting from the absence of Theo Ratliff (back). The young center has a high ceiling and should be considered an option in larger leagues of 12-plus teams.
News: The play of center Kendrick Perkins has faltered. The fourth-year center has been dogged by bad fouls that have left him unable to stay on the court and develop any kind of flow. "He's frustrated, just as well as everybody else," said Paul Pierce, "but I think hopefully 'Perk' understands that and he watches the tape and understands what's keeping him out of games. It's the same things that were keeping him out of games last year. He has to smarten up. He has to become better at that. He's a year older, a year wiser and we expect him to do more. I think he's going to learn from it."
Analysis: He has a ton of upside, but this bad spell makes him a poor Fantasy option at the moment. If he's available in leagues of 12-plus teams, though, he's worth taking a long-term flier on as a possible No. 2 center at some point this season.
News: Celtics C Kendrick Perkins was removed from the starting lineup Wednesday in favor of Theo Ratliff. He didn't help his cause Wednesday, picking up two points, one rebound and five fouls in nine minutes.
Analysis: Perkins should be reserved in all leagues until he can get his act together. He has some nice upside, but could not be hurting his cause anymore than he is now.
News: Theo Ratliff (sore back) didn't make the trip to Washington for Saturday's game, but he is practicing more vigorously and could be back as soon as Wednesday's game.
Analysis: Kendrick Perkins is currently starting in his place and is what the Celtics believe to be their future at the position. Upon Ratliff's return, expect he and Perkins to split time. That would limit much of their Fantasy production, but they can both still be considered decent No. 2 center options in teams of 12-plus teams.
News: Boston F Kendrick Perkins went to the locker room after a cut on his head opened in the third quarter of Friday's game against the Pistons. He received three stitches and came back for the fourth quarter. He played 14 minutes in the game, shooting 2-of-2 from the field for four points. He had eight rebounds in the game.
Analysis: Perkins has not been a scoring threat to open the season. He has six points total, but the potential for him to breakout is there. Consider Perkins more of a No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy center depending on the size of your league.
News: Boston C Kendrick Perkins scored just two points in Wednesday's season-opening loss to the Hornets. He added six rebounds and two blocks.
Analysis: He took just two shots from the floor in 20 minutes of action, but the points will come. He's a double-double threat when things go well and is worth a look in leagues of 12-plus teams.
News: Celtics head coach Doc Rivers says he has a rotation in mind for the season. The starting lineup for Nov. 1 against the Hornets will likely consist of Sebastian Telfair at point guard, Paul Pierce at shooting guard, Wally Szczerbiak at small forward, Ryan Gomes at power forward and Kendrick Perkins at center.
Analysis: Based on his history, it's likely Rivers' mind will change a few times along the way -- particularly with such a young team. The biggest surprises in this lineup come up front, where young players like Ryan Gomes and Kendrick Perkins will get the nod. We love Gomes as a sleeper candidate this season and it appears he's worked his way into the Opening Night starting lineup. Theo Ratliff was going to start at center until his back got sore, but Perkins should be able to grab a hold of the job early in the season. He has a ton of upside and should be considered as a viable No. 2 center in Fantasy leagues to start the year. Pierce is obviously a no-brainer and Szczerbiak should be considered a must-start in any Fantasy format while healthy.
News: Wally Szczerbiak led the Celtics in Friday's preseason game vs. Cleveland with 21 points, 13 in the first quarter. He finished 7-of-8 from the field with two 3-pointers and was 5-for-5 from the free throw line. Sebastian Telfair added 16 points for Boston, including a perfect 10-of-10 at the free throw line. Ryan Gomes had 12 points and three steals.
Analysis: Celtics star Paul Pierce finished with two points, leaving the game with 7 minutes to play in the third quarter with a bruised left hip. The crown jewel, in Fantasy terms, is expected to be just fine to start the season. Szczerbiak should average around 20 ppg this season and should be considered a must-start in any format entering the season. Ryan Gomes is one of our favorite sleeper picks of the season and Celtics have several young players worth taking fliers on in the late rounds. Continue to monitor them during the preseason.
News: Going into training camp, which starts Tuesday, the top 10 players in the Celtics' rotation appear to be forwards Paul Pierce, Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes and Gerald Green; guards Delonte West, Sebastian Telfair, Wally Szczerbiak and Tony Allen and centers Kendrick Perkins and Theo Ratliff. Rookie draft picks Rajon Rondo and Leon Powe could broaden that group. "Doc [Rivers] has some work cut out for him" in settling on a roster and rotation, general manager Danny Ainge said. "There's going to be some worthy players of playing time that aren't going to get playing time this year. ... I'm excited that we have those choices."
Analysis: With all that youth, the Celtics have plenty of trade material and Ainge said he always looks for ways to improve the team. Expectations should be higher for a team that is still young but has eight of its top 10 players entering their third NBA season. Fantasywise, the stud of the group continues to be Pierce. He warrants a first-round pick in any format. Down the line, Szczerbiak will serve as a nice No. 2 or 3 guard depending on the size of your league, Gomes has massive sleeper potential and Telfair should flourish at the point although it could take some time. Up front, Perkins and Ratliff should be targets in the later rounds. The Celtics may or may not make a playoff push this season, but they are full of good values for Fantasy owners on Draft Day.
News: The Celtics made a move they hope will be good on both basketball and financial counts, signing center Kendrick Perkins to a four-year extension that could pay him as much as $20 million. "We think he's just scratched the surface," said Danny Ainge, the Celtics' executive director of basketball operations. "I think he's improved tremendously since he got here. He's a proven defensive presence in our league, and his offense is evolving. He's improved his body, his vertical jump, his shooting stroke. He's improved in every aspect of the game."
Analysis: Perkins started 40 of the 68 games in which he played last season, averaging 5.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in a modest 19.6 minutes per outing. Though he was rarely allowed to play through foul trouble, Perkins still had some big nights, such as a 12-point, 19-rebound effort against Philadelphia. He had 13 double-figure rebound games, including four straight just before the shoulder injury he suffered in February. Twice he blocked six shots in a game. If Perkins remains the starter and increases his minutes per game, he will be an NBA steal even at $5 million per (assuming the incentives are reached) in the final four years of the contract beyond the 2006-07 season. He is just 21 (he turns 22 on November 10) and thus will be a mere 26 when his deal is completed. He looks like he could be a nice sleeper pick in the later rounds in Rotisserie leagues.
News: Kendrick Perkins signed a multiyear contract extension Monday with the Boston Celtics after the center had the best of his three seasons with the team. "It is great to have one of our building blocks secured for the next few years," said Danny Ainge, the Celtics' executive director of basketball operations. "We are looking forward to his continued development this upcoming season." Terms of the contract were not announced.
Analysis: Last season, Perkins averaged career highs of 5.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 19.6 minutes per game. He was taken with the 27th pick of the 2003 draft by Memphis, which sent him and the draft rights to Marcus Banks to Boston for the draft rights to Troy Bell and Dahntay Jones. He is an athletic center who can score and rebound well when he plays extended minutes.
News: Kendrick Perkins scored eight points on 4-of-9 shooting with 14 rebounds in 23 minutes on Sunday vs. Chicago.
Analysis: He is an athletic center who can score and rebound well when he plays extended minutes.
News: Kendrick Perkins may be back in the starting lineup soon. He had five points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots in 18 minutes Monday.
Analysis: Prior to going down with a dislocated shoulder om early February, Perkins was averaging 11 rpg over his previous four games. He is an athletic center who can score and rebound well when he plays extended minutes.
News: Kendrick Perkins (shoulder) will likely sit out at least until Boston's three-game road trip next week, coach Doc Rivers said before Friday's game against Milwaukee.
Analysis: With the emergence of Ryan Gomes, Perkins has lost much of the appeal he had developed before being injured. He will have plenty of chances to contribute when he returns, however, so Fantasy owners looking for a quick boost at the forward position should look to add him if he's still available.
News: Kendrick Perkins, who hasn't played since Feb. 6 because of a dislocated left shoulder, missed Wednesday's game vs. the Sixers.
Analysis: He's questionable for March 10 vs. Milwaukee.
News: Kendrick Perkins, who hasn't played since Feb. 6 because of a dislocated left shoulder, missed Tuesday's game at Washington.
Analysis: He's questionable for March 8 vs. Philadelphia.

Analysis: He's questionable for March 7 at Washington.
News: According to the Boston Globe, Kendrick Perkins, who hasn't played since Feb. 6 because of a dislocated left shoulder, won't be back soon. He says it'll be a week from today, but his coach says he would be shocked if it was a week from today.
Analysis: This is not what Perkins owners want to hear, but Ryan Gomes owners should be excited. He'll remain an excellent Fantasy option for at least another week.
News: Kendrick Perkins (shoulder) missed Sunday's game at the L.A. Lakers.
Analysis: He's a risky start for the upcoming scoring period. Consider him questionable for March 1 at Miami.
News: According to the Boston Globe, Doc Rivers is not confident that Sam Perkins (shoulder) will be able to return for the team's road game vs. Utah on Tuesday. Perkins still believes he will be back for Tuesday's game, but Rivers isn't so confident. "With a shoulder, you have to be very careful. You have to worry about future shoulder injuries and that's a reason you would hold him back a little longer," said Rivers.
Analysis: Reserve him for the upcoming scoring period if you have healthier alternatives.
News: According to the Boston Herald, Kendrick Perkins (shoulder) is expected to be out until at least Feb. 21 at Utah. "Me personally I think I’ll be back sooner," said Perkins. "My goal is to be playing at the beginning of the West Coast trip or at least the second game. That’s my goal."
Analysis: The West Coast trip that he's referring to is still over a week away, so don't expect him back any sooner. It's a shame, because the absence of Al Jefferson (ankle) was going to make him an excellent Fantasy option over the next couple of weeks. Still, he should be reserved because the Celtics' current situation is ideal for a second half surge of production from Perkins.
News: Boston Celtics center Kendrick Perkins dislocated his left shoulder at the end of practice Wednesday and is day-to-day. Perkins was hurt during a team scrimmage and X-rays revealed the dislocation, spokesman Jeff Twiss said. Perkins, in his third NBA season, is averaging 4.5 points and nearly six rebounds a game. The Celtics drafted the 6-foot-10, 280-pound center out of high school.
Analysis: He's questionable Feb. 10 vs. Portland.

Analysis: Perkins is a great option in all leagues while Al Jefferson is out.

Analysis: He is worth owning in leagues with 12-plus teams to help in the rebounding category.
News: Kendrick Perkins scored 10 points in 26 minutes off the bench on Saturday at New Jersey. He also added five rebounds.
