Udonis Haslem returns to Miami for two years

(7/15/2014) The Heat have agreed to a deal with forward Udonis Haslem according to the Sun-Sentinel after he opted out of the final year of his last contract.

Haslem turned down $4.6 million for next season and will now make $5.6 over the next two seasons. His salary will start at $2.7 million next season, after he averaged 3.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in 46 games in 2013-14 for the Heat. 


Udonis Haslem opts out, looking to return to Miami

(6/29/2014) Heat forward Udonis Haslem has opted out of his deal for 2014-15, as his agent informed team president Pat Riley Saturday.

Haslem was to be paid $4.62 million next season, but BleacherReport.com reports he is looking to return to the team on a longer-term deal with a lower annual salary. He averaged just 3.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 46 games a year ago. 


Udonis Haslem falls short of first double-double

(4/12/2014) Heat forward Udonis Haslem continued his solid play Friday against the Pacers, in his first game back following a two-game absence due to an illness.

Haslem played 31 minutes in the game had a big impact, nearly recording his first double-double of the season. He scored 11 points on 5 of 7 shooting and added nine rebounds and a steal, in the 98-86 win.

Haslem is pretty much averaging career lows across the board, putting up 3.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game in 43 appearances this season. Still, he has improved his play since finding his way back into the rotation recently, averaging 8.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in the month of April.

(4/11/2014) Heat forward Udonis Haslem is expected back in the starting lineup Friday against the Pacers, after missing the team's last two games with a stomach illness. He sat out both nights of a recent back to back due to the illness, but is expected to play his usual role Friday after returning to health.

(4/9/2014) The Heat will be without a slew of rotation players for Wednesday's game in Memphis, as guard Dwyane Wade (hamstring), forward Udonis Haslem (illness) and centers Chris Andersen (knee, back) and Greg Oden (back) were all ruled out prior to game time.

The Heat have been treating all injured players as gametime decisions recently, and the same should be assumed of these players moving forward. The team's next game is set for Friday against Indiana.

(3/29/2014) Heat forward Udonis Haslem got the start on Friday, and lead the way with a team-high 17 points in a 110-78 victory over the Pistons in Detroit.

Haslem got off to a fast start, scoring 12 of his 17 points in the first quarter. He shot 8 of 11 from the floor, and 1 of 2 from the free throw line. He also chipped in with five rebounds and one block while logging 21 minutes of game action. He's averaging just 6.0 points and 4.8 rebounds over his last four games.

(3/19/2014) The Heat had a rare presence in the starting lineup Wednesday, as forward Udonis Haslem made his first start in more than four months in a 101-96 loss to the Celtics.

Haslem played 27 minutes and scored 14 points, his first double-digit scoring effort of the season. He shot 7 for 8 from the field and added five rebounds, three assists and two blocks in his most productive game of the season.

Haslem has pretty much disappeared from the Heat's rotation this season, recording fewer than 10 minutes played in 19 of 33 appearances, while averaging a career-low 2.7 points per game.

(1/18/2014) Heat forward Udonis Haslem continued to see inconsistent minutes, as he grabbed 10 boards and led all reserves with 31 minutes of game action in his team's 104-96 victory over the Bobcats in Charlotte on Saturday.

Haslem didn't make much of an impact offensively, scoring just six points on 2 of 6 shooting, and 2 of 5 from the free throw line. He also chipped in with one assist and three blocks. He has played in each of his last three games, averaging 3.0 points and 7.7 boards over that span.

Haslem has appeared in just two of the Heat's last three games and 21 of 36 overall. He is averaging 2.6 points and 2.2 rebounds per game, by far the worst numbers of his career.

Haslem was eased back into action with only eight minutes off the bench but fouled out with 2:28 remaining in the fourth quarter.. He went 3 of 4 shooting from the field and finished with seven points and two rebounds in a 104-88 victory.

(11/17/2013) Heat forward Udonis Haslem plans to practice Monday and return to game action Tuesday against the Hawks, the South Florisa Sun Sentinel reports. He has been dealing with back spasms that have caused him to miss the last four games.

"[The back issues] started a couple of days before we played Chicago [in the Oct. 29 season opener] and I just thought I need to stretch it more," he said. "So I started getting more stretching in. I just got worse and worse and worse. And it got to the point where I just wasn't able to move."

Haslem has averaged 3.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 16.0 minutes over six games.

Allen was unable to practice Thursday and has missed two consecutive games due to flu-like symptoms. He is not expected to travel with the team for Saturday's game in Charlotte. Haslem is still bothered by back spasms and has missed three straight games despite going through shootaround Friday morning. It remains uncertain if Haslem will travel with the club to Charlotte.
