Josh Childress waived by Pelicans

(12/13/2013) Pelicans announced Friday that the team has waived forward Josh Childress. Childress only played in four games and did not log more than 11 minutes in a game for the Pelicans this season. He tallied a total of three rebounds, two assists and a steal in 24 minutes.

(11/25/2013) Pelicans forward Josh Childress appeared in just his second game of the season Monday, in a 112-93 loss to the Spurs. Childress played five minutes off the bench and recorded a steal, his only stat of the game.

(11/12/2013) Josh Childress will sign a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday, according to Yahoo Sports.

Childress was waived by the Wizards before the start of the regular season. He played 14 games last season with the Nets and averaged only 1.0 points and 1.1 rebounds per game over that span.

(10/24/2013) The Wizards have released shooting guard Xavier Silas on Thursday, according to USA Today. Silas played in only three preseason games and totaled only 10 minutes of game action this preseason. He averaged 4.0 points per game.

Washington also released Pops Mensah-Bonsu and Josh Childress.

(12/23/2012) Nets head coach Avery Johnson told the New York Post that guard Josh Childress is over his foot issue that caused him to miss Tuesday's contest against the Jazz and Wednesday's contest against the Knicks. He was ruled a healthy inactive for Sunday's game against the 76ers.

(1/31/2012) After falling out of the rotation in Phoenix, Josh Childress has seen his role improve recently and that trend continued on Monday against Dallas. He played 18 minutes off the bench and scored nine points with four rebounds in the 122-99 loss. He went 4 for 6 from the floor, including 1 for 2 from downtown. Childress also chipped in with two steals and two assists. "I'm trying to provide energy, a defensive spark, rebounding and whatever I can," Childress told the Arizona Republic. "It feels good to be out there. I'm trying not to worry about myself but what the team needs at the time."
