(2/25/2015) Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin scored a team-high 28 points on 10 of 15 shooting in his team's 97-77 win over the Wizards Wednesday.

It was Martin's sixth straight game with at least 20 points, but he had his most efficient shooting performance since returning from a 34-game injury absence. He also chipped in two rebounds, two steals and one assist in 31 minutes. The Timberwolves will head to Chicago to face the Bulls Friday.

(2/20/2015) Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin scored 28 points on 10 of 16 shooting from the field in Minnesota's 111-109 win over the Suns Friday. 

Martin, who struggled from 3-point range, going 1 of 6, also grabbed six rebounds and dished out two assists in the victory. In his last six games, Martin has failed to reach at least 20 points only once. He is averaging 21.0 points in seven games this month.


Report: Timberwolves not expected to buy out Kevin Martin's deal

(2/18/2015) There is "no way" the Timberwolves buy out guard Kevin Martin's contract, reports USA Today's Sam Amick.

The primary reason Amick lists is that coach Flip Saunders thinks highly of Martin as a player. Martin is averaging 20.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Any potential buyout would happen after Thursday's trade deadline.

Martin signed a four-year, $27.755 million deal with the Timberwolves in 2013.

Amick also reports that the Rockets, Bulls, Wizards, Mavericks and Kings all have interest to some degree in Martin. However, a trade is unlikely to happen.


Martin, Bass, Bargnani expected to be bought out, if not traded

(2/18/2015) If their teams cannot find a trade partner, Timberwolves guard Kevin Martin, Celtics forward Brandon Bass and Knicks center Andrea Bargnani are all expected to be bought out of their contracts, sources told CBSSports.com NBA Insider Ken Berger.

The buyout woulds occur after Thursday's trade deadline passed. Trades for the three veterans are unlikely to occur.

(2/8/2015) Timberwolves guard Kevin Martin scored 24 points on 9 of 21 shooting from the field in Minnesota's 112-101 win over the Pistons Sunday. Martin, despite struggling from 3-point range going 0 of 6, also grabbed nine rebounds and added three steals in the contest.

Martin has now scored over 20 points in three of his last seven games since returning from injury. He and the Timberwolves will look to keep rolling Monday against the Hawks.

Martin missed a significant portion of the season due to a fractured wrist, and Wednesday's big night marked his first 30-point performance since the injury. He also tallied three rebounds, three assists and two steals in 40 minutes in the win. The Timberwolves will square off with the Grizzlies Friday.

Martin returned from a 34-game absence caused by a fractured wrist Wednesday to score 21 points, giving him 20 points per game in the brief time since his return. He kicked in five assists and two rebounds in 30 minutes off the bench Friday. The Timberwolves will square off with the Cavaliers Saturday.

Martin has been out 34 games due to a fractured right wrist, last playing on Nov. 19. He will come off the bench Wednesday, and Saunders is unsure how many minutes the shooting guard will receive. Martin has averaged 20.4 points in nine games.

The Timberwolves are 4 1/2-point underdogs at home against the Celtics Wednesday.

Martin added he's hopeful to play Wednesday against the Celtics. He has been sidelined since late November.

“It feels better now than it did when I started practicing two weeks ago,” Martin said. “Getting it drained helps a lot.

“It was a good day. That’s one thing I can do is shoot. I’ll give it one more hard day of practice and see how I feel.”

(1/24/2015) The Timberwolves were without a few players during Saturday's practice including: Anthony Bennett (knee), Mo Williams (general soreness), Zach LaVine (elbow), Shabazz Muhammad (oblique muscle) and Kevin Martin (wrist).

Bennett played just 10 minutes in Friday's loss to the Pelicans. Williams struggled to find his shot in the loss, going 3 of 10 for 12 points. Muhammad has been out since Jan. 9 with the oblique strain and Martin is hoping to return to the court Sunday for his first game since November.

Minnesota is currently a 17-point underdog against the Hawks Sunday.

(1/23/2015) Timberwolves guard Kevin Martin has been dealing with swelling in his surgically repaired wrist and will not play until Sunday at the earliest, according to The Star Tribune

Martin began noticing the swelling Tuesday and Wednesday, which sent him to the doctor to have the fluid removed. Martin was forced to have surgery on his fractured wrist in November and has been working to get back on the work this week.

Martin is targeting Sunday to be his return to the court.
