He played well this season with 14.7 points and a career-high 7.4 assists, and he should return next year as the starting point guard in Orlando. Analysis: Nelson says he is feeling better but he also talked about being smart about the injury and that could have him missing another game. Still, he's on the mend and should not be an injury risk for the upcoming scoring period. Nelson, who has already missed 10 games this season, remains a solid play in most formats, when healthy.
News: After Fridays game against the Bobcats, Magic coach Jacque Vaughn told the Orlando Sentinel that Jameer Nelsons left hip is bothering him yet again. Nelson was forced to miss two games earlier in the season due to the same injury. Nelson did not seem bother by the injury during the game, scoring 23 points in 38 minutes of play, with seven assists and five rebounds in a 106-100 loss.

He is also shooting nearly 45 percent from downtown during that stretch and 46 percent overall. News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson only took five shots on Wednesday as Orlando was able to win at home against Washington. Nelson shot 2 of 5 from the field over 31 minutes and scored just eight points. He had five assists, two rebounds and three steals in the winning performance.
Analysis: Nelson has over seven assists per game over his last five performances but that is coming at the expense of some of his scoring. We're actually OK with that as we'd like to see Nelson over seven assists per game on the year. He does just enough across the board to remain a worthy start in all formats.
News: After being held to just four points his last time out, Magic guard Jameer Nelson bounced back with a decent performance Wednesday night against the Hawks. Nelson scored 12 points and grabbed three rebounds in an 86-80 defeat. He went 5 of 9 shooting from the field, including 2 of 5 from beyond the arc, and was unable to get to the free throw line. He also chipped in with two assists and a steal in 32 minutes of work.
Analysis: Nelson has been a bit inconsistent since coming back from a sore Achilles and has scored in double figures in four out of his last six games since his return. He is shooting 40.8 percent from the field and has averaged 12.7 points in his first six games back from injury. Still, we expect his production a bit higher now that his team is still in search of a primary scorer. Fantasy owners should continue to have faith in the 30-year-old moving forward, so keep him active in most formats for now.
News: After missing the previous contest due to a sore Achilles, Magic guard Jameer Nelson returned Sunday against the Lakers. He scored 19 points with 13 assists -- his second double-double of the season -- in the 113-103 win. He went 6 for 14 from the floor, including 2 for 6 from downtown, and made all five of his free throws. Nelson also chipped in with five rebounds and two steals while playing 39 minutes in the victory.
Analysis: Nelson sure didn't show an signs of his injury Sunday but owners should keep an eye on his progress going forward to make sure he does not miss more time. He is averaging 18.8 points with six assists, 5.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals in the previous five contests while shooting 47 percent over that span. Nelson is playing very well entering Week 6 (Dec. 3-9) so keep the 30-year-old active in most formats.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson will start Sunday's contest against the Lakers despite battling through a sore left Achilles, according to the team's website. Nelson missed his last game against the Nets on Friday with the injury.
Analysis: Nelson was seen shooting the ball around prior to Sunday's game and it seems as if he'll give it a go against the Lakers. His injury was not considered to be serious so it's nice to see him back after missing just one games. Nelson has been playing decent of late as he is averaging 14.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists through his last five games before getting hurt. He is considered as a viable low-end option in most formats heading into Week 6 (Dec. 3-9).
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson was held out of Orlando's contest against the Nets Friday night due to a sore left Achilles, according to the team's official website. Nelson was replaced in the starting lineup by E'Twaun Moore and is being considered day to day with his injury.
Analysis: Nelson's injury is not being considered serious at this point, but it is something Fantasy owners will have to keep an eye on heading into Fantasy Week 6 (Dec. 3-9). Nelson has been playing decent of late as he is averaging 14.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists over his last five games. He can be considered a viable low-end option in most formats when healthy.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson had his best performance of the young campaign Friday night against Cleveland. He scored a season-high 22 points and dished out six assists in the 108-104 win. He went 9 for 18 from the floor, including 4 for 8 from downtown, while playing 35 minutes. Nelson also chipped in with six rebounds and two steals in the victory.
Analysis: Nelson got off to a slow start after returning from his groin injury but looked good Friday and hopefully will continue to produce going forward. He is averaging 12.2 points with 6.6 assists and 1.6 steal in his previous five contests. The 30-year-old has proven in the past to be a viable option in Fantasy so keep Nelson active in deeper formats at this point.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson returned to the lineup after missing six games in a row with a groin injury and turned in his first double-double of the season against the Pistons. Nelson scored 13 points and dished out 10 assists in a 110-106 victory. He shot 4 of 11 from the floor, including 1 of 4 from downtown, and converted all four of his free throw attempts. He also chipped in with four rebounds and two steals in 32 minutes of action.
Analysis: Nelson, who took the start, seems to have put his groin issue behind him as he looked like he did not skip a beat against the Pistons and helped spark a nice rally late in the game. He has scored 22 points and dished out 17 assists in hi first two games thus far and is ready to take over as the starter over ETwaun Moore. The 30-year-old veteran should be viewed as a solid low-end starting option in most Fantasy formats now that he is healthy.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson is in uniform and expected to start Friday against the Pistons, after missing six games in a row with a groin injury, according to the Orlando Sentinel. ETwaun Moore will likely move to the bench with Nelsons return.
Analysis: Nelson played in just one game before suffering the injury, so hopefully he is healthy now and can stay in the lineup. Moore did a solid job filling in for Nelson, but he is not quite the playmaker Nelson is. Consider the veteran a decent low-end starting Fantasy option in most formats now than he is back.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson, who has missed six straight games due to his groin injury, is expected to start at Detroit Friday night, according to the team website. Magic coach Jacques Vaughn has kept him out of the lineup in this week as a precaution.
Analysis: It seems as if the Magic will have the services of Nelson, who has been itching to get back on the court. Nelson logged 35 minutes in his first game, but that could take a slight dip once he returns. Fantasy owners should consider him a viable option in most formats now that he is back healthy.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson, who has missed six straight games and is still questionable to play Friday at Detroit due to his groin injury, wanted to play Tuesday night, reports the Orlando Sentinel. Magic coach Jacques Vaughn kept him out against the Knicks instead.
Analysis: Orlando has been incredibly cautious with Nelson, who appears finally ready to return to the court. Nelson wanted to play Tuesday but will instead target a return of Friday against the Pistons. Nelson logged 35 minutes in his first game, but that could take a slight dip once he returns. Still, consider him a viable Fantasy option in most formats when healthy.

Nelson was ruled out for the game by coach Jacque Vaughn. Nelson has now missed six consecutive games for the Magic as he is getting healthy after groin and hamstring issues.
Analysis: Nelson has not played since the Magic's season opener on Nov. 2 and his status for Friday's game at Detroit is likely in question as well. Orlando doesn't necessarily need to rush Nelson back to the lineup as backup guard E'Twuan Moore has played well in his absence. Nelson logged 35 minutes in his first game, but that could take a slight dip once he returns. Consider him a viable Fantasy option in most formats when healthy.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson said Monday he is no longer bothered by a hamstring injury, but is still experiencing soreness in his groin, the team's official website reports. Nelson, who has missed the past five games because of injuries, took part in Monday's practice with the team. He also played some one-on-one with Orlando coach Jacque Vaughn, a former NBA point guard himself.
Analysis: Nelson has not played since the Magic's season opener on Nov. 2 and his status for Tuesday's game against New York is still uncertain.
News: As expected Magic guard, Jameer Nelson missed his fifth consecutive game against the Nets Sunday afternoon as he continues to deal with injuries to the groin and hamstring.
Analysis: Nelson took the court and played well during the opening game of the season, but has not been able to return since. He is making some progress but may need a few more days before he is back at 100 percent. Nelson's status for Tuesday's game against the Knicks is still up in the air, so consider him as a risky Fantasy start for Week 3 (Nov. 12-18). If healthy, Nelson is a viable Fantasy option across the board.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports Saturday that Magic guard Jameer Nelson is doubtful to play Sunday at Brooklyn. Nelson continues to deal with injuries to a variety of body parts and has missed the last four games already. He is likely to make it five straight Sunday.
Analysis: Nelson is making progress and is nearing a return but will still be a risky Fantasy start for Week 3 (Nov. 12-18) at this point due to his various injuries. When healthy, Nelson is a viable Fantasy option across the board.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson missed his fourth game in a row Friday against the Nets, as he continues to deal with a variety of ailments. He was unable to participate in shootaround before the game, but told the Orlando Sentinel that he is feeling better. Im making a lot of progress, Nelson said. I feel a lot better, and I just know with hamstrings and groins and anything of that nature that its a little trickier than ankle sprains. E'twaun Moore will likely start in his place.
Analysis: Nelson scored nine points and had seven assists in the teams first game, but has been unable to take the floor since. It remains to be seen when he will be able to return, however he has not been ruled out for Sunday against the Nets. Consider him a viable starting option in many Fantasy formats upon his return to the floor.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson continues to deal with injuries to his groin, knee and hamstring but is making progress with his rehab, reports the Orlando Sentinel Wednesday. "I dont want to set a timetable, but Im just going to continue to treat it and be smart about it and listen to the training staff and whoever else has to make the decision of whether Im playing," he said. E'Twaun Moore is expected to get minutes as the PG until he can return.
Analysis: Nelson may miss the next handful of games for the Magic due to his multiple ailments. Nelson has said he'd like to return by the weekend, but it sounds like he'll leave it up to the trainers who will likely be a little smarter and hold him out longer than he'd probably like. The veteran point guard managed 35 minutes in the season opener as he finished with nine points and seven assists during his first game without top target Dwight Howard. That said, Fantasy owners should keep him on the bench until he proves healthy. When healthy, he has value in all Fantasy formats.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson was ruled out for Tuesday's game at Chicago as he continues to deal with hamstring and groin injuries, according to the team's official website. Nelson, who visited with a doctor Monday but the results have not been disclosed, has already missed one game after leaving last Friday's outing against Denver. E'Twaun Moore is expected to take his spot in the starting lineup versus the Bulls.
Analysis: Nelson said he is hoping to return by the weekend for two games against Brooklyn, which probably eliminates his availability for Wednesday's contest at Minnesota though the team has not ruled him out yet. The veteran point guard managed 35 minutes in the season opener as he finished with nine points and seven assists during his first game without top target Dwight Howard. But his injury could cost him a large chunk of Fantasy Week 2 (Nov. 5-11) and he should be reserved in most formats at this point.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson was scheduled to visit with a doctor Monday for an evaluation on his knee, and his status for Tuesday's game at Chicago is uncertain, the Orlando Sentinel reports. Nelson suffered a bruised quad during last Friday's season opener against Denver, but was able to stay on the court and finish the game. He finished with nine points and seven assists in 35 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Nelson has already missed one game because of his assortment of injuries and could be destined for another outing on the bench after missing practice Monday in order to visit a doctor. If he's unlikely to play, the Magic could provide another start to E'Twaun Moore, who took his spot in the lineup Sunday against Phoenix. Fantasy owners should keep a close eye on Nelson as Orlando plays four games during Week 2 (Nov. 5-11), and he might be able to return at the end of the scoring period -- that is, with a positive prognosis from the doctor.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson suffered a quad bruise in Friday's season-opening win over the Nuggets. Nelson left the floor but returned and finished the game. He should be fine going forward. Nelson played 35 minutes in the game as he shot 2 of 9 from the field with a 3-pointer to score nine points in the winning effort. He dished out seven assists and added a steal in the contest.
Analysis: With Hedo Turkoglu breaking his hand in the game, Nelson has even fewer weapons to throw the ball to and score. He will be asked to score a little more but is more of the distributor for a team that shouldn't be too good despite the win Friday. Still, Nelson does enough to remain viable in most Fantasy formats as the Magic's starting point guard.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson agreed to re-sign with the Magic, agreeing to a three-year contract after opting out of the final season of his previous deal. Terms of the contract have not been released by the team, but it is expected to be worth roughly $20 million total.
Analysis: Nelson is coming off his least productive season in years, as he averaged just 11.9 points and 5.7 assists per game, while putting up a 42.7 shooting percentage that ranks as his worst season as a professional. Wed like to say that, at 30 years old, he still has some time to bounce back, especially since his minutes took a small hit and he dealt with some injuries. Unfortunately, the situation in Orlando is still so unstable we have no idea who Nelson will even be sharing the floor with next season, so at this point, it is hard to gauge his value. He likely remains a viable starting Fantasy guard under most circumstances, so plan on targeting him in the second half on Draft Day.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson was back on the floor against the Bobcats on Wednesday, and he played well despite leaving Sundays game against the Nuggets with an ankle injury. Nelson shot just 4 of 13 from the field for 11 points, however he filled up the stat sheet elsewhere, picking up nine rebounds and nine assists, with an additional two steals before fouling out. He played 29 minutes in a 102-95 win.
Analysis: Nelson did not miss a beat despite missing most of Sundays game, as he continues to play well at the end of the season. He is averaging 17.2 points and 7.5 assists per game in the month of April, as he heads into the playoffs. Fantasy owners in post season formats should consider Nelson a solid option, now that he appears healthy.

Analysis: Nelson has been playing at a very high level at the end of the season, as he was averaging 17.2 points and 7.5 assists per game in the month of April. His status moving forward is unknown at this time, so Fantasy owners should keep an eye on him moving forward. However, with just two games remaining and the Magic locked into their seed, the team may decide to rest him, so consider keeping him inactive for the remainder of the regular season.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson played on Thursday against the Knicks, as expected, and he did not seem bothered much by a calf injury that had cost him the teams previous game. Nelson struggled with his shot, hitting just three three-pointers and missing each of his eight attempts from inside the arc to put up just 10 points. However he made up for that subpar showing somewhat by collecting five assists and five rebounds in a 96-80 loss.
Analysis: Nelson has been playing his best basketball of the season recently, as he has shot over 50 percent from the field since the beginning of March while averaging 14.3 points and 5.5 assists per game in that span. He struggled terribly with his shot on Thursday, however he was certainly not the only Magic player to do so, so it is hard to blame him for that. Nelson has re-emerged as a relevant Fantasy option, so get him back in the starting lineup now that he is healthy.
News: As expected, the Magic have guard Jameer Nelson back in the starting lineup heading into Thursday's matchup against the Knicks, after missing the team's previous game with a calf injury on Thursday.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues should feel fine getting Nelson back into the lineup if they need him. Owners in all other formats will need to monitor his status for any setbacks moving forward, as he remains a decent starter in most Fantasy leagues.
News: Magic coach Stan Van Gundy told the media during shoot-around Thursday morning that guard Jameer Nelson will be a game-time decision for Thursday's game against the Knicks. Nelson was out for Tuesday's game against Detroit with a calf injury.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in all leagues should keep an eye on Nelson's status, and hopefully he can return against the Knicks. When healthy and active, Nelson is a quality starting option in the majority of Fantasy leagues.

Nelson played 35 minutes in Orlando's last game on Sunday against Denver as he scored 27 points and dished out five assists. Nelson went 11 of 21 from the field in that game.
Analysis: The Magic were without Nelson, Dwight Howard and Ryan Anderson on Tuesday night. Nelson's injury is not considered too severe, but it comes at a poor time as he was playing really well before suffering it. Nelson was averaging 19.2 points, 5.4 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game, with 2.2 3-pointers, over his last five contests. When healthy, he can be used in most Fantasy formats right now.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson (calf) is considered a game-time decision for Tuesday's game at Detroit, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Nelson, who recently recovered from a bout with an illness, has dealt with an assortment of injury issues and missed seven games this season.
Analysis: It's unclear the severity of Nelson's injury as it's reportedly just soreness in his calf. He continues to benefit playing with Dwight Howard and is averaging 5.3 assists per game. But his scoring is down to 11.3 ppg, and he should be viewed as a viable option in most Fantasy formats.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson played Wednesday night against the Knicks despite sitting out the shootaround Wednesday morning because he felt sick. He didn't seem to miss a beat in the game as he scored 17 points on 7 of 14 shooting over 29 minutes. Nelson hit two 3-pointers and added four assists for Orlando.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in all leagues should keep an eye on Nelson's status, but it appears like he should be fine going forward, especially considering he played well against the Knicks. He is a low-end starting Fantasy option in the majority of leagues.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson was able to find his scoring touch during Monday night's contest against the Raptors. Nelson finished with 18 points in the 117-101 win, on 8 of 11 shooting from the field. He went 2 of 3 from down town and also added seven assists, three rebounds and two steals to his stat line, while logging 27 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Nelson was seen walking gingerly to the bench late in the third quarter, but he seemed to be fine for the remainder of the game and the team offered no injury updates after the game. While it appears he is OK, Fantasy owners in daily formats should keep an eye on his status moving forward just to be on the safe side. Nelson can be considered a viable low-end guard in most formats when healthy.
News: Magic guard briefly left Sundays game against the Heat after getting poked in the eye by Joel Anthony, however he was able to return quickly and play 34 minutes in the game. He scored 13 points in the game on 5 of 14 shooting while dishing out six assists. He also added three steals in the game, and did not seem affected by the injury. The Magic would end up losing the game, 91-81.
Analysis: Nelson has been playing well recently, scoring in double figures in each of his last four games. He has upped his production in the month of March, as he is averaging 13.3 points and 6.3 assists, each of which are his best numbers of the season. Nelson has bounced back to return to being a solid starting option at guard, so continue to view him as such.
News: Orlando point guard Jameer Nelson had a fantastic game in an overtime win over the Heat on Tuesday night. Playing in what could be the final home game alongside Dwight Howard, Nelson scored a team-high 25 points in the win. Nelson shot 10 of 16 from the field over 37 minutes and went 4 of 7 from 3-point range. He added four assists and two steals in the win for Orlando.
Analysis: If the Magic do, indeed, trade Howard, they will ask Nelson to step up and score more. He showed he could do that on Tuesday, that is for sure. That said, Nelson scored just 26 points combined in his previous three games. Not a high-end assist getter, Nelson can still be used in most Fantasy leagues. His value could be growing if the Magic deal Howard.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson was able to go 32 minutes on Wednesday night. He missed the final game before the All-Star break with a left knee strain, but looked pretty good for the Magic versus the Wizards. All four of his field goals came from downtown as he went 4 for 12 from the field (4 for 9 from 3-point land), finishing with 12 points. Nelson added four assists and five boards in Orlando's 102-95 win.
Analysis: Nelson doesn't post a monster stat line like some point guards in the league, but that doesn't mean he doesn't hold any Fantasy value. Nelson is averaging 11.0 points, 5.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game over his last four outings. While he's not an elite guard in the NBA, Nelson does enough to make him a low-end starting guard in most Fantasy formats.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Magic guard Jameer Nelson is expected to play Wednesday night against the Wizards. Nelson missed final game before the All-Star break with a left-knee strain, but Nelson participated fully when the Magic practiced Tuesday.

Fantasy owners should continue to view Nelson as a low-end guard option in the majority of formats.
News: According to the Orlando Sentinel, Magic guard Jameer Nelson had to sit out Thursday's game against the Hawks with a sore knee. He could also be doubtful for the events over the All-Star weekend.

News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson logged his second double-double of the season on Wednesday night against the 76ers. He scored 12 points and dished out a season-high 14 assists in Orlando's 103-87 win. Nelson shot 5 for 8 from the field and went 1 for 2 at the foul line. He added four boards in his 29 minutes of action.
Analysis: Nelson hasn't done much this year for the Magic as he's recorded double-digit assists just two times in 30 games. His 14 assists on Wednesday also tied his career best. Nelson made some pretty plays, but is very inconsistent. Over his last five games he's averaging 11.8 points and 5.2 assists per contest. Until he can put together a few solid outings in a row, Fantasy owners should continue to view Nelson as a low-end guard option in most formats.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson's shooting woes continued during Saturday night's contest against the Bucks. Nelson finished with six points in the 99-94 victory, on 2 of 6 shooting from the field. He missed both of his attempts from behind the arc and also chipped in with five assists and three assists, while logging 30 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Nelson has struggled to find the range since returning from his concussion as he is shooting just 35 percent from the field over his last three contests. However, some of that is to be expected, especially after a long layoff. Still, Nelson's inconsistent production this season continues to frustrate Fantasy owners, making it tough to stick with him for long periods of time. Consider the 29-year-old a low-end option in most formats heading into Week 8 (Feb. 13-19).
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson was cleared to play through his concussion on Monday in an overtime loss to the Clippers at home. Nelson was expected to see minimal run in the game, but ended up playing 36 minutes as he was on the court until the end for Orlando. Nelson went 5 of 13 from the field to score 15 points for the Magic and he added 12 assists for the double-double. Nelson hit a 3-pointer and added three rebounds.
Analysis: Nelson missed a bunch of time but returned on Monday with a very solid effort. He wasn't really limited at all and that is great news for Fantasy owners. Owners can feel comfortable getting him back active in most leagues and formats at this point.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson was cleared to play Monday after suffering a concussion on Jan. 27, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Nelson has missed the past five games while dealing with concussion-like symptoms after colliding with New Orleans' Jarrett Jack in a game. Coach Stan Van Gundy planned for Nelson to play the first six minutes of the first and second quarters Monday before determining his second-half availability.
Analysis: Van Gundy wants to make sure Nelson isn't affected by any lingering effects of his concussion so his playing time will be monitored against the Clippers. Nelson reportedly needs to work on his conditioning following his five-game absence as Orlando is scheduled for four games during Fantasy Week 7 (Feb. 6-12). Fantasy owners should consider Nelson a mid-range option in most formats when healthy.
News: While Magic coach Stan Van Gundy continued to support the idea that G Jameer Nelson is on track to return to the floor on Monday against the Clippers. However Van Gundy told the Orlando Sentinel that he did not expect Nelson to be able to get back to play full-time right away after seeing him in practice on Friday. Van Gundy said Nelson got winded very quickly during the practice. "The thing with a concussion is you can't do anything, so it's not like you're doing something to stay in shape," Van Gundy said. "Plus, on top of that, a concussion itself is a thing that leads to fatigue."
Analysis: Nelson has already missed five games, after missing Saturday against the Pacers, however it does appear that he will be clear for Monday. Nelson will remain an injury-risk start for Week 7 (Feb. 6-12) given the somewhat pessimistic take from his coach. Nelson's scoring is way down in 2011-12, but he is still dishing out the rock at a good clip. Consider him at best a mid-level Fantasy start when active.

Analysis: Nelson has already missed three games, when you include Wednesday's contest, and is expected to miss at least two more before potentially returning Monday. Nelson will remain an injury-risk start for Week 7 (Feb. 6-12) if we don't receive a more positive report over the weekend. Nelson's scoring is way down in 2011-12, but he is still dishing out the rock at a good clip. Consider him at best a mid-level Fantasy start when active.
News: Orlando PG Jameer Nelson is now not expected to return from his concussion-related symptoms until at least next Monday against the Clippers, reports the Delaware News Journal on Monday. Nelson was originally hoping to return on Wednesday, but that is not going to happen, according to coach Stan Van Gundy. Unfortunately, it keeps getting pushed back because he hasnt felt that much better," Van Gundy said. "Right now, were looking at Monday at the earliest. Obviously, that takes out a big weapon for us.
Analysis: Next Monday is the earliest Nelson could return at this point. Nelson managed just 11 minutes at New Orleans last Friday before taking a hit to the jaw and leaving the game. The Magic want to be careful with this injury, so he won't return until at least the beginning of the next scoring period. Fantasy owners should keep him benched in all leagues until then and check back for updates. When healthy, Nelson is averaging 8.1 points, 5.1 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game this season and is a decent option in most Fantasy formats.
News: Orlando PG Jameer Nelson (concussion-like symptoms) will miss Sunday's game against Indiana, reports NBA.com. Nelson was not even in the building on Sunday and he will not travel with the team to Philadelphia, where the Magic play on Monday. He could return Wednesday at home against Washington.
Analysis: Nelson managed just 11 minutes at New Orleans on Friday before taking a hit to the jaw and leaving the game with concussion symptoms. The Magic want to be careful with this injury, so he won't return until at least the middle of the upcoming scoring period. Nelson is best left on benches for that stretch. When healthy, Nelson is averaging 8.1 points, 5.1 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game this season and is a decent option in most Fantasy formats.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson left Friday night's contest against the Hornets with an apparent jaw injury. Nelson sustained the injury after colliding with Jarrett Jack in the first half. He finished with just two points prior to leaving the game.
Analysis: Nelson looked like he took the worst of the collision and was unable to return in the contest. However, the Magic have yet to release many details about his injury, so Fantasy owners should check back for the latest updates as they become available. Nelson has really struggled during the early part of the season and should only be considered a low-end option, when healthy.
News: After Magic G Jameer Nelson left the game Thursday in the third quarter with an apparent knee injury, coach Stan Van Gundy told TNTs Craig Sager that he didnt expect him to return prior to the fourth quarter. However with eight minutes left in a tied game against Boston, Nelson returned to the game and finished it out as the Magic couldnt overcome a comeback bid by the Celtics that put them on top 91-83. Nelson had a solid overall game, scoring 11 points on 3 of 8 shooting to go along with five rebounds and five assists in 33 minutes.
Analysis: Nelson is currently averaging a career-low 8.3 points on the season on 39.2 percent shooting, and Thursday was just his fifth double-digit scoring game of the season. Nelson still brings 5-plus assists and a solid three point shot with him, but his scoring has been so anemic this season that he cant be recommended as anything more than a No. 4 Fantasy guard at this point.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson only went 1 for 5 from the field over 24 minutes on Tuesday night in a blowout victory over the Pacers. Nelson wasn't needed much in the easy win as he scored just two points. He added five assists and three rebounds in the contest. Nelson has only scored seven points in his last two games combined.
Analysis: Nelson may be having some scoring issues, but he's actually averaging more PPG over his last five than over his season with 9.0 PPG over that stretch. That comes with a 3-pointer and 5.2 assists per game. Nelson is not an elite Fantasy PG, but he's definitely worth using in most formats at this time.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson found his way back into double figures on Tuesday night against Charlotte. After scoring 17 total points in his previous two games, Nelson reached that mark on a 5-for-8 shooting display. He also converted 6 of his 7 freebies at the charity stripe. But with his increased scoring, Nelson saw his assist total go down. He tied Dwight Howard for a team-high four assists in Orlando's 96-89 win over Charlotte. Nelson added two rebounds in his 31 minutes on the court.
Analysis: Nelson is averaging more than 30 minutes per game, but he just isn't producing. Over his last five games Nelson is averaging 11.0 points, 5.6 assists and 3.4 boards per outing. Those numbers aren't bad, but for a starting guard for one of the better teams in the league just don't cut it. Fantasy owners should continue to view Nelson as a low-end starting guard option in most formats.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson did what he had to do on Thursday night versus the Warriors -- pass Dwight Howard the ball. While Nelson didn't have a great game, he was efficient. He scored nine poins and dished out six assists in his 33 minutes on the court. He shot 50 percent from the floor and went 1 for 4 from downtown. Nelson made three steals and grabbed two boards in the Magic's 117-109 win.
Analysis: Nelson hasn't been scoring much for Orlando as he's averaging 9.2 points over his last five games. He's also registering 5.6 assists, 2.8 boards and 1.4 steals over that span. He's posting the worst scoring numbers since his rookie season, but continues to have pedestrian assist totals. Nelson has potential to put up good numbers in Orlando; unfortunately he hasn't lived up to that potential. Fantasy owners should view him as a low-end starting guard option in the majority of Fantasy formats.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson's scoring woes continued during Sunday night's contest against the Kings. Nelson finished with just five points on 2 of 6 shooting from the field in the 104-97. He made one of his two free-throw attempts and chipped in with six assists, four rebounds and a pair of steals, while logging 30 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Nelson has really struggled to score the basketball this season. He has only scored in double figures once over his first nine games, which came in Orlando's first game of the season. He is averaging just 5.1 points per game in the eight contests that have followed, while shooting a dreadful 37 percent from the field over that stretch. Nelson's track record suggests he should be able to turn things round, but with Orlando only slated to play twice in Fantasy Week 3 (Jan. 9-16), owners may want to leave the 29-year-old on the bench heading into the upcoming scoring period.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson made his return to the lineup after missing one game with a neck injury as the Magic defeated the Raptors 102-96. In 32 minutes of playing time he scored nine points on four-of-seven shooting and four assists. He continued his slow start to the season as he has now scored in double figures just once, in the opening game.
Analysis: Nelson is averaging just 7.3 points and 5.3 assists-per game, numbers that are below his production last season, when he averaged 6.0 assists and 13.1 points-per game. His shooting percentage is doing to 41.4 percent, so he is struggling to find his shot early on. Despite that, Nelson has too strong a track record to recommend benching, and should be in the lineup as a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy guard.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson, who sat during the teams 100-79 win Friday over the Bobcats after injuring his neck on Thursday, will be in the starting lineup for Orlando when they take on the Raptors on Sunday night, the team has announced. This will move Chris Duhon back to the bench after he started the game against Charlotte.
Analysis: We said it might be a couple of days before he was comfortable getting back onto the court, and it was exactly two. Nelson is averaging 6.7 points-per game and 5.7 assists-per game, numbers he should be able to improve on as the season moves along. Consider him a No. 4 Fantasy guard now that hes healthy.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson missed Fridays game against the Bobcats after suffering a neck strain on Thursday night. Chris Duhon started in his place. Nelson is a question mark to return on Sunday against Toronto.
Analysis: The injury is not likely to keep him out for much longer, but it could be a couple of more days before Nelson is comfortable with getting back onto the court. Consider him a No. 4 Fantasy guard when healthy.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson left Thursdays game against the Nets due to neck spasms and did not return. He would finish Magics 94-78 win with no points on three shots, while adding four rebounds and five assists in just 17 minutes.
Analysis: It is unclear at this point how serious the injury is, but it would seem unlikely that nelson will be able to play on Friday night at Charlotte. Keep an eye on his status tomorrow to see if there are any updates. Consider him a No. 4 Fantasy guard when healthy.
News: Orlando PG Jameer Nelson did not have a positive debut in Sunday's preseason opening loss to the Miami Heat. Nelson shot an abysmal 0 for 10 from the field, including going 0 for 6 from deep, as he scored just one point in the game over 30 minutes. Nelson grabbed three rebounds and did dish out seven assists with a block and just one turnover. Nelson has little competition for the PG job as backup Chris Duhon is not a threat to overtake him at this time.
Analysis: Nelson started 76 games last year for Orlando and averaged 13.1 points and a career-high 6.0 assists per game while nailing 1.6 3-pointers per contest and shooting 40 percent from deep. Nelson is a solid rebounding guard and should put his off shooting night behind him when the regular season opens. Nelson can be considered a No. 4 Fantasy guard worthy of a pick around the middle to later rounds.
News: When asked how he would describe the season Magic guard Jameer Nelson called it rough. "It was like a rollercoaster for us at times," he told the Orlando Sentinel. The seventh-year guard out of St. Josephs was likely referring to the Magics' up-and-down play throughout the season as his production was pretty steady. Nelson averaged 13.1 points and a career-high 6.0 assists while appearing in 76 games this season.
Analysis: Coming into the season, the main concern most had about Jameer Nelson was his durability. After all, the 29-year-old had failed to play 70 games in each of the last three years and has reached that mark just twice in his first six NBA campaigns. However, Nelson finally broke that barrier this season. He appeared in 76 games and was fairly consistent throughout the entire year. He averaged double-digit scoring in every month other than January and did it while shooting nearly 45 percent from the field. Nelson also dished out a carer-high 6.0 assists per contest and finished as the 30th highest scoring guard, in terms of Fantasy points in all CBSSports.com standard formats. Consider Nelson a solid mid-round pick as low-end Fantasy guard on Draft Day next season.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Magic guard Jameer Nelson bruised his knee during Tuesday's Game 5 victory against Atlanta in the first-round playoff series, but he practiced fully on Wednesday and doesn't expect to be hindered in Game 6.
Analysis: We hope that Nelson is OK with his knee and doesn't suffer a setback for the rest of the playoffs. Heading into 2011-12, Nelson should be considered a quality Fantasy option in all leagues. He is worth selecting with a mid-round pick in all formats on Draft Day.
News: With the Magic down three points with two seconds to play in Sunday's game against the Bulls, Orlando guard Jameer Nelson had the ball in his hands with the final seconds ticking away. He then launched a shot from beyond the arc that went in to force overtime, but an official review upheld an initial call of no basket. Nelson was a bit too late for the win, but he played well all afternoon. He scored 17 points on 5 of 12 shooting, including 2 of 4 from beyond the arc. Nelson kept the offense flowing even without Dwight Howard (serving a one-game suspension), as he assisted on a game-high 11 baskets in the loss. Nelson added five rebounds and three steals in 35 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Nelson has been fairly consistent all season as a mid-level scorer and solid assist man from the point guard position, but he played above his averages on Sunday with his team in need. He's been much improved defensively over the last five games, recording an average of 2.6 steals per game, more than double his season average of one steal per night. His points and assists are also up in the late-stretch, as the floor general appears to be peaking at the right time for the playoff-bound Magic. Fantasy owners should continue to roll with Nelson is all formats as a mid-range option the rest of the way.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson missed Monday's game with a knee injury, but after testing it on Tuesday he was able to take the court versus Atlanta on Wednesday. With 55.4 seconds remaining Nelson missed two chances to tie it, allowing the Hawks to escape with an 85-82 victory. Nelson paced Orlando with 20 points, but he missed a jumper with 38 seconds remaining, then badly on a drive with 6 seconds left. Nelson finished the night shooting 9 for 17 from the field -- going 2 for 4 from beyond the arc -- and had five assists. "Things are definitely hard for us when Dwight gets in foul trouble," Nelson said. "He's who we are. We play through him. Offensive and defensively, he's our guy." Nelson also grabbed three boards and had a steal in his 37 minutes of action.
Analysis: Nelson obviously felt better because he was able to log a good chunk of minutes for the injury-plagued Magic. With Nelson back on the court Fantasy owners should feel comfortable with putting him back in the lineups. It would be wise to monitor his knee as the season winds down, because he's been bothered by injuries all season. He's averaging 12.3 points, 5.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds per contest over his last five games. Continue viewing him as a low-end starting guard option.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Magic guard Jameer Nelson will return from a knee injury Wednesday night and play at the Hawks. After sitting out one game, Nelson tested the knee Tuesday afternoon and participated in the Magic's shootaround Wednesday and experienced no problems. "I'm pretty good," Nelson said. "It felt pretty good after working out yesterday so that's a good sign. I'll try to go out there and try to help my team tonight and win."
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues should count on Nelson to play against the Hawks. He is a quality Fantasy option in all leagues when healthy, and hopefully he doesn't suffer a setback with his knee prior to the end of the regular season.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Magic guard Jameer Nelson tested his sprained left knee Tuesday, and Nelson and team medical staff will wait to see how it responds before deciding whether he'll play Wednesday night against the Hawks. "I'm not going to say it's for sure that I'm going to go" play, Nelson said. "I'm going to play it by ear and be smart about it and let my body tell me what to do." Nelson sustained the injury when a Nets player fell into the side of Nelson's leg on Friday. An MRI revealed no structural damage, and he sat out Monday's game at New York.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues should use caution since Nelson could sit out again Wednesday. The Magic want Nelson to be healthy for the playoffs, and they will likely be careful to play him extended minutes if he's able to play against the Hawks. When healthy, Nelson is a quality Fantasy option in all leagues, but he might not be at 100 percent Wednesday.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Magic point guard Jameer Nelson, who sat out Monday's game at New York, could return Wednesday night at Atlanta. Magic GM Otis Smith said he would be "shocked" if Nelson didn't play in Atlanta. Nelson sustained a sprained knee against the Nets on Friday and was held out of Sunday's practice. Nelson didn't make a commitment to play against the Hawks, but said, "I'm all right. I haven't done anything yet on the court, haven't tested it. I don't know. We'll see." Nelson said his injury could have been worse. "I got hit on the side of the knee. I got my foot out just in time. It wasn't quite planted," Nelson said. "If it was really planted and it got hit, I don't know what might have happened. But everything came out negative."
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues should use caution in case Nelson is out against the Hawks, but it appears as if he's close to a return. Nelson is a quality Fantasy option in all leagues when healthy, and we hope he's able to close the season at 100 percent with his knee.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson has officially been ruled out for Monday's contest against the Knicks with a knee injury. Nelson sprained his left knee during Friday's contest against the Nets. He is being considered day to day.
Analysis: Nelson will sit Monday, so Fantasy owners who planned on having him against the Knicks will now have to adjust. Also worth noting is the fact that Orlando is only slated to play two more times during Fantasy Week 23 (March 28-April 3). That means if he misses another game, owners may only get one game out of Nelson. Gilbert Arenas will get the start in his place. Nelson can be considered a low-end Fantasy option, when healthy.
News: The Bergen County Record reports that the Magic will likely be without guard Jameer Nelson for Monday's game at New York. Nelson left Friday's game against New Jersey with a knee injury.
Analysis: Nelson is considered questionable for the matchup with the Knicks, and the Magic will likely be cautious with their point guard with the playoffs just on the horizon. Fantasy owners should also use caution with Nelson in case he sits Monday, and the Magic only have three games in Fantasy Week 23. When healthy, Nelson is a quality Fantasy option in all scoring formats, but he might not help owners much in this period.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Jameer Nelson is considered day-to-day with a sprained left knee. He is questionable for Monday's game against New York and his status is likely to be determined on Monday. "I'm going to be smart about it," Nelson said.
Analysis: Nelson has apparently dodged a serious injury, but it still seems highly possible he could miss one or two games while he recovers. Coach Stan Van Gundy is mulling over who would start in his absence and has yet to determine if it would be Gilbert Arenas or Chris Duhon. Nelson will be a severe injury risk for Fantasy owners in cumulative weekly leagues, with the Magic slated for just three games. Use healthy alternatives where possible.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson's MRI showed no structural damage and he will be considered day to day moving forward, reports the Orlando Sentinel. Nelson was injured during Friday's win over the Nets and did not return to the contest after halftime. He has been diagnosed with a left knee sprain and will be listed as questionable for Orlando's next game, which is Monday against the Knicks.
Analysis: Nelson's injury was not thought to be too serious and an MRI taken on Saturday confirmed that notion. Still, this injury could cost him a game or two, so Fantasy owners will have to keep tabs on his status leading up to when lineups lock on Monday evening. Still, he is expected back in the lineup sooner rather than later and can continue to be viewed as a solid low-end Fantasy option, when that happens.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson played just the first half of Friday's game versus the Nets after he sprained his left knee in the second quarter. He was 1 for 3 from the field for two points in his 15 minutes on the court. Nelson added one rebound and three assists, but also committed three turnovers.
Analysis: Nelson has been banged up this year for the Magic and they need him healthy for the playoffs. Seeing how they already have secured a spot in the postseason, Orlando may opt to rest Nelson down the stretch, which would hurt his Fantasy value. Owners should monitor his status heading into next week as he may be limited. When healthy, Nelson is a viable guard option in most formats.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson was having a pedestrian night offensively in Friday's game against the Nuggets, until he decided to take a shot from the top of the key with time expiring. The 3-pointer went in, and it sent the Magic into the win column for the seventh time in 11 games. "It felt good when it left my hands," said Nelson. "I knew I had a great chance and y'all know I don't shy away from the last shot at all. I'm definitely willing to take the last shot -- make or miss -- and live with the results."Nelson finished the night with 13 points on 5 of 12 shooting, though he was a solid 3 of 6 from long-range. He had just one assist all night long, his fewest in over a month. Nelson was a better contributor defensively, stealing a pair of passes and pulling down three rebounds in 35 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Nelson was mediocre offensively for 47 minutes of the game, but he came up big when it counted most. He received the ball on the inbound, and was isolated with Ty Lawson at the top of the key. instead of driving passed him, Nelson pulled up directly in line with the basket and swished the game-winner through with zeros on the clock. He's made big shots before, and the undersized point guard has never been shy with the ball in his hands. Nelson is playing better than normal thus far in March, exceeding his season average in points, and his assists are right around where they should be. He plays consistent basketball, and Fantasy owners should continue to utilize him as a mid-range option moving forward.
News: Not once but twice, Orlando guard Jameer Nelson fouled Milwaukee guard Brandon Jennings on Wednesday night as he was taking a 3-pointer. The first time sent Jennings to the line for three shots. He made them all forcing overtime. Nelson would then try to wrap up Jennings unsuccessfully and get called for a foul on another shot from downtown, but Jennings would make it and hit his foul shot tying the game again. Nelson would get a bit of redemption as he hit a dagger jumper putting the Magic up by four with 23 seconds left in overtime. Orlando would go on to win the game, 93-89. Nelson finished the game going 5 for 15 from the field -- missing both his 3-point attempts -- registering 10 points. He added three boards and three assists in his 38 minutes of action.
Analysis: Nelson is the motor of the Magic, so when he's on they are an elite team. When he struggles they are very beatable, and that was the case on Wednesday. Over his last 5 games, Nelson is averaging 17.4 points, 5.2 assists and 3.6 rebounds per outing. He's also shooting a stellar 51.4 percent from the floor over that span. Despite a few lapses of judgment, Nelson still produced for Fantasy owners. Granted not nearly as much as they'd like, but he can always rebound in his next game. Keep viewing him as a solid guard option in most Fantasy formats moving forward.
News: Despite dealing with a tweaked ankle suffered two days earlier, Magic guard Jameer Nelson saw a significant 35 minutes of playing time in Thursday's comeback win over the Heat. He chipped in with 16 points on 6 of 15 shooting, in a furious Orlando rally that erased a once 24-point deficit. "To tell you the truth, I didn't even know we were down that much," Nelson said. "I was just playing. I just think that's what you have to do when you know you can play better and you're not playing up to your potential. Just get it going somehow, not worry about the score." He hit an open 3-pointer, and added a game-high seven assists on the night.
Analysis: Neslon's ankle appears to be fine after he was apart of some big buckets late in the game. He attacked the Heat frontcourt with his 6-foot-ish frame with some success, utilizing his body as a shield and his signature tear-drop in the comeback. Nelson didn't shoot particularly well, but he produced when it counted most and even added to the late Orlando lead from the free-throw line. He continues to put up solid point and assist totals despite some ongoing injuries. With the playoff-stretch looming, Nelson will do all he could to stay in the lineup. As long as he's healthy enough to play. Fantasy owners should stick with him in all formats moving forward.
News: Following the team's morning shootaround, Magic coach Stan Van Gundy announced that all of his players would be available for Thursday night's game against the Heat. That includes G Jameer Nelson, who tweaked an ankle on Tuesday against New York.
Analysis: Nelson was able to go through Wednesday's shootaround as well and was always expected to play in Thursday's game. He rolled his ankle and briefly left Tuesday's game. Nelson said on Wednesday that the ankle felt a bit sore, but also noted that it would not affect his play against Miami. Nelson scored a season-high 26 points against the Knicks and is being leaned on more heavily with Gilbert Arenas dealing with aches and pains. He is averaging 15.6 points and 5.0 assists over his last five games and also chips in decent numbers in 3-point shooting and rebounds.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Jameer Nelson tweaked an ankle in Tuesday's game against Miami, but was able to go through Wednesday's shootaround and has been cleared to play in Thursday's game against Miami. Nelson rolled his ankle and briefly left Tuesday's game.
Analysis: Nelson said that the ankle feels a bit sore, but also noted that it would not affect his play against Miami. Nelson scored a season-high 26 points against the Knicks and is being leaned on more heavily with Gilbert Arenas dealing with aches and pains. He is averaging 15.6 points and 5.0 assists over his last five games and also chips in decent numbers in 3-point shooting and rebounds.
News: After being called out by coach Stan Van Gundy about the need to be more aggressive, Magic guard Jameer Nelson responded in a big way. Nelson scored 26 points in Tuesday's 116-110 win over the Knicks, with 14 of those coming in the fourth quarter. Nelson shot 10 of 16 from the field in the victory, including 2 of 2 from downtown and also chipped in with four assists and three rebounds while logging 35 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Nelson really struggled in February, but sure got March started off on the right foot. Van Gundy made it perfectly clear the Magic cannot make a run at title unless Nelson steps up his play -- and the 29-year-old seemed to got the message. Still, this is only one game and Nelson will have to start producing more consistently if he wants to regain his status as a top-tier Fantasy guard. As long as he continues to start, he will see decent minutes and should be considered a solid low-end Fantasy guard with some upside.
News: According to the Orlando Sentinel, Magic coach Stan Van Gundy wants his point guard -- Jameer Nelson -- to be more aggressive and show more energy out on the court. "We've got guys struggling, but to me, we've got to get Jameer going," coach Stan Van Gundy said. "He's a real key guy for us. He always has been. It's not a matter of just field-goal percentage. It's his energy, his toughness, his competitiveness and the whole thing. And I've got to do what I can do, which is basically probably put him in where he sort of knows where his time's coming so that he has a chance to get back to being who we need him to be." Nelson said he's talked to his coach and is going to try to do the things asked of him.
Analysis: Nelson is shooting a tad under 40 percent from the field in February -- his worst shooting month of the season so far. He averaged 7.5 assists per game in November, 6.6 in December, and 5.9 in January and was averaging 5.0 so far in February. Van Gundy said when Nelson is on the Magic are contenders; and when he's not the road isn't too bright. Dwight Howard has also called out his teammates, and Nelson is definitely included. Nelson plays in a high-octane offense and has the potential to post solid numbers for Fantasy owners. Despite his struggles, Nelson has to break out eventually. Perhaps Howard's frustration will be enough to get him going. While he's not a high-end option, Nelson should still be viewed as a solid guard choice in the majority of formats.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson had 15 points and five assists in the Magic's 111-105 loss to Sacramento on Wednesday night. Nelson finished 6 of 13 from the field, including 1 for 4 from beyond the 3-point arc, as he posted his highest scoring output in the last five games. His 13 shots tied his most attempts since Jan. 19 against Philadelphia (15). He contributed two rebounds and two steals as he committed five turnovers in 30 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Nelson's value on the Magic -- and in Fantasy circles -- continues to plummet. His numbers clearly took a hit since Gilbert Arenas arrived in a trade with Washington and he averaged just 9.5 points in the month of January. He is faring slightly better in February (11.6 ppg), but his field-goal percentage has been severely lacking as he has exceeded 50 percent in just one game this month. He is still the starting point guard in a high-octane offense and should be active in the majority of Fantasy leagues just keep your expectations in check.
News: For the second consecutive game, Magic G Jameer Nelson was held below 10 points on Sunday against the Lakers. He has shot just 6 for 21 from the field in those two games and is averaging just 10.4 points over his lat five games along with 3.8 assists.
Analysis: Nelson's numbers have taken a big hit since Gilbert Arenas arrived in town. He averaged just 9.5 points and 5.9 assists in January despite playing nearly 30 minutes per game and has become merely a low-end Fantasy stopgap measure with a much more restricted role. He averaged 14.5 points and 7.5 assists in November in a a good display of his potential upside. However, he is not currently in position to produce those numbers.
News: After shooting a combined 8 of 24 for 19 points in the last two games, Magic guard Jameer Nelson bounced back efficiently against the Clippers on Tuesday night. He scored 17 points on 5 of 9 shooting, including 4 of 5 from beyond the arc, tying his season's best. Nelson wasn't much of a distributor in the win, assisting on just one basket, but he pulled down three rebounds on the night.
Analysis: While the game wasn't Nelson's best, the scoring efficiency is a nice sign for Fantasy owners. Still, he is a point guard and he needs to create more scoring opportunities for others. He's notched double-digit assists just twice since the calendar turned over to 2011. Nelson is one of the better scoring floor-generals in the league, but if the assists would match the points, he'd increase in value quickly. He remains a very solid option in all Fantasy formats.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson didn't have his best night shooting, but was still able to deliver a solid statline in Friday's 110-92 win over the Wizards. Nelson shot just 3 of 12 in the contest, including 3 of 8 from downtown to finish with just nine points in the victory. However, Nelson did keep his teammates involved, dishing out a team-high 11 assists. He also chipped in with six rebounds and three steals while logging 31 minutes.
Analysis: Nelson continues to run the point for Orlando and has continued to see around 28 minutes a game. While his scoring numbers have taken a hit since the trade occurred last month, Nelson has still been able to remain somewhat effective. He is averaging 9.2 points, 6.0 assists and 4.6 rebounds over his last five contests and is averaging close to a steal a game over that stretch. While Nelson can no longer be regarded as a high-end Fantasy option, he still can be a very useful option in the majority of formats.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson, who left Friday nights 99-90 loss at Chicago with a sore left knee, was back in the lineup for Sunday's contest against Cleveland. Nelson played just 28 minutes in the 103-87 blowout win and finished with seven points on 3 of 11 shooting from the field. He went 1 of 5 from downtown and added eight assists, four rebounds and a steal in the victory.
Analysis: Nelson has been injury prone in his career, but showed no ill effects from his injury in Sunday's contest. Still, he hasn't exactly been lighting it up lately and is averaging just 8.6 points and 5.0 assists over his last five contests. However, he continues to see around 25 minutes a game and could be in line for even more with Gilbert Arenas nursing a knee injury. Consider Nelson a low-end Fantasy guard, heading into Fantasy Week 15 (Jan.31-Feb. 6).
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson, who left Friday nights 99-90 loss at Chicago with a sore left knee, is back in the lineup for Sunday's contest against Cleveland.
Analysis: Nelson has been struggling lately, averaging just 9.0 points and 5.0 assists over his last five games. Owners should monitor his numbers on Sunday to see if he's worty of using in Fantasy Week 15 (Jan. 31-Feb. 6) as a low-end starting guard option.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Magic PG Jameer Nelson, who left Friday's game at Chicago with a right knee injury, is likely to play tonight against the Cavaliers.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson lasted just eight minutes in Friday's contest in Chicago and sat out the last three quarters with soreness in his right knee. The Magic could have used him to attempt to contain Bulls guard Derrick Rose. Nelson missed his only shot in the game and did not score any points. He did have a block, an assist and two rebounds though. The Magic would have their rally fall short, losing to the Bulls 99-90. "I hope I can play Sunday," Nelson said.
Analysis: Nelson has been injury prone in his career, so this can't be too big of a shock to Fantasy owners. He's been struggling lately, averaging just 9.0 points and 5.0 assists over his last five games. Owners should monitor him heading into Sunday's contest with the Cavaliers, to see if he plays or is limited in his court time. While he has potential to be a quality Fantasy guard, Nelson just can't that next step that is needed. If he's healthy for Week 15 (Jan. 31-Feb. 6), owners should consider him a low-end guard option.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson pulled his hamstring on Wednesday, but it didn't seem to bother him at all on Friday against the Raptors. He struggled with his shot, but Orlando had the game well in hand, so Nelson didn't have to do too much offensively. He shot 4 for 12 from the field -- going 1 for 4 from downtown -- finishing with just nine points. Nelson added eight assists and four rebounds in his 25 minutes of playing time. The Magic would go on to win the game, 112-72.
Analysis: Nelson has been in a bit of a scoring slump lately, scoring in double figures just once over his last five games. Granted every other contest has been a 9-point effort, but he's still playing below his season average. Over his last five Nelson is dishing out 6.8 assists per contest and grabbing 2.6 boards. While he seems to fine and not hurting from that hamstring issue, Nelson still isn't producing like Orlando or Fantasy owners would like. Nelson plays for a good team and has room to grow, but until his numbers start going up he'll only be worth using as a low-end guard option.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson got back on track scoring wise on Wednesday against the 76ers, but he did get banged up along the way. Nelson would pull his hamstring in the first half of the game, but would return to the court for Orlando. He finished the game with the ball in his hands at the end of overtime as he laid on his back. He would come up with the loose ball after two missed Philadelphia shots. He shot 7 for 15 from the field -- 2 for 3 from downtown -- as he ended the day with 16 points. He added 7 assists and six rebounds in his 42 minutes of action. The Magic would hold on for the 99-98 win over the 76ers.
Analysis: Nelson hadn't scored in double figures in any of his previous four games. It seems he took the first step to get out of this slump. Over his last five games Nelson is averaging 9.0 points, 7.0 assists and 2.0 boards per contest. While Nelson shouldn't miss any time with this hamstring issue, it's something for Fantasy owners to monitor. He's worth using as a low-end starting guard when healthy and producing.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson hasn't scored in double figures in four straight games. That didn't change on Monday against the Celtics as he shot 3 for 5 from the field -- 2 for 3 from downtown -- and connected on 1 of his 2 foul shots. He finished with nine points -- for a third straight game -- and dished out five assists. Nelson would add one rebound in his 33 minutes of action. He would hit one key jumper late in the game, but had his hands full chasing Rajon Rondo around the whole game. Boston would hold on for the 109-106 win.
Analysis: Nelson is in a bit of a slump for the Magic. He's averaging 9.0 points, 5.8 assists and 1.0 steal per game over his last five contests. He's shooting 39 percent from the floor, but 50 percent from downtown over that span. Nelson was playing rather well before this slump, so hopefully he can get back on track for Fantasy owners. When he's contributing and the Magic are clicking, Nelson is worth using as a low-end starting guard. Right now owners in daily formats may want to reserve him until he starts to warm up.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Magic PG Jameer Nelson is averaging eight assists per 36 minutes and posting an assist rate of 37.6 percent. Both numbers are by far the best of his career. Hes been really, really good, Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. Hes playing very efficiently, making great passes, and I think hes really tried to pick his defense up. Hes done a great job making plays this year, particularly on high pick and rolls. I think whats happened is as people have recognized his ability both to get to the rim and to shoot the ball on the pick and roll, so hes drawing a second defender more than he has in the past. And hes finding people and making that play.
Analysis: Along with his increased assist totals, Nelson's scoring is up more than a point to an average of 13.7 this season, and his level of play is helping keep Gilbert Arenas from stealing too many minutes from him. For the time being, Nelson should be considered a low-end starting guard in most 12-team Fantasy leagues.
News: With Orlando playing well right now, coach Stan Van Gundy isn't going to mess with the rotation, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Guards Jameer Nelson and Gilbert Arenas have not shared the court over the last three games, something that was questioned when the Magic traded for Arenas in December. "Playing them together to get more minutes? Not right now," Van Gundy said. "I like the way our wing guys are going. But it's certainly a possibility. I look at this stuff every day. We're making sure they all get minutes, but we're trying to get more minutes to the guys who are playing better." Nelson logged 35 minutes on Wednesday, almost registering a triple-double. He finished the game with 10 points, nine assists and seven rebounds.
Analysis: Nelson and Arenas were almost splitting the minutes at point guard for a few games, but with Arenas' recent play, Nelson has seen more court time. In 30 games this year, Nelson is averaging 13.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 6.8 assists per contest. He's having a great year for the Magic so far and should considered a low-end starting guard in most 12-team Fantasy leagues.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson continues to score in the low teens for the Magic, though he's still contributing in other ways. Nelson played 35 minutes in Wednesday's win over the Bucks and scored 10 points with nine assists and seven rebounds. He shot 3 for 9 from the field and hit a 3-pointer.
Analysis: Nelson hasn't been over 13 points in his last five games and is averaging just 10.0 per game over that span. Still, it comes with 6.6 assists, 3.4 rebounds, 1.2 steals and two 3-pointers per game. Those numbers keep him worthy of Fantasy use in most 12-team leagues.
News: Despite not having a great game, Orlando guard Jameer Nelson did lead his team with seven assists in Thursday's 112-103 win over New York. Nelson and Gilbert Arenas split time running the offense. Nelson shot 5 for 11 from the field -- missing all of his 3-point attempts -- finishing with 10 points. He would grab three boards as well in his 28 minutes of court time.
Analysis: Nelson seems to be getting just a bit more court time than Arenas since he was acquired from Washington. Nelson's Fantasy value has taken a hit as Arenas can play both guard spots for the Magic. Nelson is averaging just 9.6 points and 5.4 assists over his last five games, both under his current season averages. For now, Nelson remains a viable low-end guard option in the majority of Fantasy leagues.
News: Playing with a case of the flu, Magic PG Jameer Nelson did some good work on Christmas to help Orlando beat the Celtics. Nelson hit some big shots late and scored 12 points on 3 of 9 shooting in the win. He struggled early with his shot but came on at the end of the game as the Magic came all the way back to win. Nelson added three assists, two rebounds and a steal and went 2 for 6 from 3-point range.
Analysis: Nelson hasn't had the best few games but is 100 percent healthy now, at least. He's still averaging 15 points, 5.0 assists and two 3-pointers per game over his last five. Nelson is going to find his shot again soon and remains worthy of use in most Fantasy leagues.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson needed an IV during halftime on Thursday because he's battling a stomach flu. He started the third quarter, but would pick up two quick fouls bring newly acquired Gilbert Arenas off the bench. Nelson played just 21 minutes against the Spurs, shooting 3 for 4 from the field. He would hit his lone 3-pointer of the game and dish out four assists. Nelson added one rebound and finished with seven points. The Magic would beat the Spurs, 123-101. Arenas again said after the game that Nelson was the starter and he was fine coming off the bench. Coach Stan Van Gundy had said matter-of-factly that Nelson would remain the starter, but he left the door open for change Thursday night in comments that will surely fuel fodder for a point guard controversy. "Could it change?" Van Gundy said. "Sure it could change."
Analysis: Nelson is averaging 13.0 points, 6.0 assists and 2.8 boards per game over his last five games. With new players in Orlando's rotation it may take time for everyone to figure out their exact role. Nelson and Arenas played together on Thursday, but it's unclear what guard will get more court time as the season progresses. This is definitely something Fantasy owners should watch as it could alter Nelson's value dramatically. When he's healthy, Nelson is worth using as a No. 3 Fantasy guard option.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson turned in another solid performance in Tuesday's 105-99 loss to the Mavericks. Nelson scored 19 points in the contest on 7 of 15 shooting from the floor. He went 4 of 7 from downtown and also chipped in with six assists and three rebounds in the defeat.
Analysis: Nelson has remained the starter in Orlando, despite the recent additions of Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu and Gilbert Arenas. Coach Stan Van Gundy said he has no plans to take Nelson out his starting lineup and owners of Nelson should follow suit as he has been playing very well of late. Nelson is averaging 15 points and 7.0 assists over his last five contests and is 10 for 25 (40 percent) from behind the arc over that stretch. Continue to view him as a No. 3 Fantasy guard in all formats.
News: Coach Stan Van Gundy said point guard Jameer Nelson would remain the starter, despite the Magic landing Gilbert Arenas, Hedo Turkoglu and Jason Richardson through a pair trades on Saturday. Van Gundy said Nelson would continue to run the point with either Arenas, Richardson or Turkoglu coming off the bench. Nelson scored 17 points and had nine assists in Saturday's 97-89 loss to the 76ers.
Analysis: Nelson will apparently will remain the starter, at least for now despite Orlando's roster shakeup. No one knows for sure exactly how Nelson's Fantasy value will be effected by Saturday's trade, so Fantasy owners will just have to wait and see how this will play out. You have to figure both Arenas and Richardson could cut into his minutes, although Nelson has been playing well of late. He is averaging 13.4 points and 8.2 dimes over his last five contests and is averaging a career-high 7.3 assists on the season. The Magic play four times in Fantasy Week 9 (Dec. 20-26), so Fantasy owners should roll with Nelson in this upcoming scoring period, especially with Van Gundy saying he would remain the starter. However, owners should closely monitor how Orlando distributes minutes among their new additions moving forward.
News: After missing three games with a stomach virus, Magic guard Jameer Nelson struggled to find his shot on Thursday. He went 4 fro 14 from the field -- going 2 for 6 from downtown -- and missing his two foul shots late in the game. Nelson finished with 10 points, five assists and one rebound in his 30 minutes of action. He didn't contribute enough though, as the Magic lost to the Trail Blazers 97-83.
Analysis: Nelson was healthy enough to play, but his production on the court had to make Fantasy owners sick. He's having a good year for Orlando as he entered Thursday averaging a career-high 7.1 assists per game. Nelson's biggest weakness in his career has been his durability. If he can stay healthy, he is worth using as a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson, who missed the last three games with a stomach virus but was able to return to practice Tuesday, is expected to play Thursday at Portland. The Orlando Sentinel said everyone who was sick is healthy and available for the game.
Analysis: Nelson was having one of his best seasons before getting sick, averaging 14.9 points and a career-high 7.1 assists. Injuries remain a concern for him, but as long as he's healthy, you want him active in Fantasy as at least a No. 3 guard.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Magic G Jameer Nelson returned to practice on Tuesday afternoon after missing the team's three previous games with a stomach virus. Jameer practiced, coach Stan Van Gundy said. Hes fine.
Analysis: The report added that Nelson will accompany the team on their upcoming West Coast road trip. He is probable for Thursday's game in Portland and appears to be safe to activate again in all daily lineup leagues. Nelson has been worthy of use as a No. 3 guard in most formats while healthy, averaging around 15 points and seven assists per game.
News: Orlando PG Jameer Nelson missed Monday's loss to Atlanta as he continues to deal with the lingering effects of a stomach virus. Nelson did not participate in Monday's morning shootaround and remains day to day. He was sent home early by the team's athletic trainer. Dwight Howard, J.J. Redick and Mickael Pietrus all returned Monday from the same illness.
Analysis: Nelson missed his third straight on Monday and will not get another chance to play until Thursday. He should return for that game with all that time in between to keep getting better. When healthy, he has been able to average around 15 points and seven assists per game this season and is worth using in most formats.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Magic coach Stan Van Gundy does not think that Jameer Nelson will be able to play on Monday night as he continues to deal with the lingering effects of a stomach virus. Nelson did not participate in Monday's morning shootaround. He was sent home early by the team's athletic trainer.
Analysis: Barring a very quick recovery, Nelson will miss a third straight game on Monday night. Orlando does not play again until Thursday night, which should give Nelson plenty of time to recover in time to play his team's final three games of Fantasy Week 7 (Dec. 6-12). When healthy, he has been able to average around 15 points and seven assists per game this season and is worth using in most formats. Start him at your own peril this week.
News: The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Magic G Jameer Nelson's status for Monday's game against the Hawks remains in doubt. Nelson is one of four Magic players dealing with a stomach virus. Nelson was forced the team's last two games as a result. The Orlando Sentinel reported that coach Stan Van Gundy "had no idea" when the team left Milwaukee for home on Saturday whether or not his players would be healthy.
Analysis: Van Gundy went on to add that Monday night is still "pretty iffy" for his sick players. That was on Saturday night, however. J.J. Redick came down with the bug first and four days later was not ready to play in Milwaukee. Howard and Nelson got sick on Friday, so if the bug lasts four days then it stands to reason that he would not be available on Monday. However, we should take this on a player-by-player basis. The Magic do play four games in Fantasy Week 7 (Dec. 6-12), softening the blow if he does sit out Monday's game. Nelson has been worthy of use as a No. 3 guard in most formats while healthy.
News: The Orlando Magic will be without Jameer Nelson for a second straight game on Saturday in Milwaukee, reports the Orlando Sentinel. Nelson missed Friday's game with a stomach virus that has been going around the Orlando clubhouse and returned to Florida prior to the game Saturday.
Analysis: Nelson considers himself day to day but Orlando will also be without Dwight Howard and Mickael Pietrus for Saturday's game. Also, J.J. Redick is expected to be out. As long as Nelson is down, Chris Duhon sees more action. Nelson should return shortly, however, and is a solid Fantasy start in all leagues when he does.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson did not dress for the Magic's game at Detroit on Friday. Nelson was a game-time decision and appears to have caught a spreading stomach flu. He is listed as day to day.
Analysis: A big loss for the Magic and Fantasy owners as this illness seems to be spreading through the Orlando locker room. Nelson has been red-hot for the Magic lately, posting averages of 16.2 points and 8.4 assists per game in his last five outings. When he's healthy enough to play, consider him a must-start in all Fantasy lineups in Orlando's high-paced offense.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson has a stomach bug and is 50-50 for Friday's game at Detroit, coach Stan Van Gundy told the Orlando Sentinel. Dwight Howard is also dealing with the bug.
Analysis: This illness seems to be spreading through the Orlando locker room. The good news is Mickael Pietrus was dealing with a similar illness Thursday but should be fine to play Friday, so it may only last a day for Nelson. The point guard has managed to avoid any serious injuries so far this season and is averaging a career-high 7.1 assists per game. He's not a big scorer, but he's still a must-start when healthy.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson rebounded from a pair of poor performances, recording a game-high 24 points and nine assists to lead the Magic to a rout of Chicago on Wednesday night. Nelson outplayed opposing point guard Derrick Rose (15 points, four assists) and finished 8 of 11 from the floor, including 3-3 from beyond the 3-point arc for his first perfect mark of the season.
Analysis: Nelson, who totaled only 20 points in the Magic's previous two games, had his best shooting performance of the season when he attempts more than 10 shots (73 percent). The veteran guard has increased his assists production recently and is now averaging 8.4 assists per game. Continue to play him as a high-end No. 2 Fantasy guard as he will contribute nightly, especially in an energized Magic offense that has now scored 100 points in four of its last five games.
News: Orlando point guard Jameer Nelson could only hit four of 12 shots on Tuesday but the Magic still pulled away from the Pistons. Nelson dished out nine assists in the game as he could score just nine points. He went 1 for 4 from 3-point range and added six rebounds. Nelson only committed two turnovers.
Analysis: The Orlando floor general didn't have his best shooting night Tuesday but he continues to play at a high level for the Magic. He's averaging over 14 points and almost eight assists per game over his last five and that comes with a 3-pointer per night. Nelson could continue to improve and definitely should be active in a large amount of Fantasy formats.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson played well on Wednesday night in a win over the Miami Heat. That is, before he picked up his second technical foul and was ejected. Nelson played 33 minutes before being tossed and he scored 17 points on 7 of 15 shooting. Nelson, who went 1 for 3 from 3-point range, added 14 assists for the double-double.
Analysis: Nelson is hitting a 3-pointer per game over his last five and has been good for at least one each game all year. He's averaging over 14 points per contest and he's really picked up the passing of late. He's dropping 8.8 dimes per game over his last five and Fantasy owners are getting him active in more and more formats right now. Nelson has been dealing with ankle issues but finally looks over them for good right now.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson has been dealing with an ankle injury, but was able to play in Thursday's blowout win over Phoenix. Nelson didn't show signs of his ankle bothering him as he scored 15 points and dished out 12 assists -- one shy of his career high -- in his 28 minutes of action. He didn't have to worry about Steve Nash tailing him around the court though as he sat out with a groin injury. He shot 6 for 8 from the field -- 2 for 3 from downtown -- and hit his lone foul shot. He had one steal in the Magic's 105-89 win over the Suns.
Analysis: Thursday marked Nelson's first double-double of the year for the Magic. Since he missed two games at the beginning of the month, Nelson has been playing well, averaging 13.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game after Thursday's contest. Fantasy owners have been frustrated with him at times this year, but he's been injury prone for his career. He has the potential to be a great Fantasy contributor, but until he shows some durability Nelson should be viewed as a low-end starting guard in standard Fantasy leagues.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson (ankle) returned to practice on Wednesday, reports the Orlando Sentinel. Nelson is expected, barring something unforeseen, to play in Thursday's game against the Suns.
Analysis: The Magic point guard has been playing fairly well of late. In his last five games played, Nelson is averaging 16.5 points, 5.8 assists, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and almost two 3-pointers per game. We don't expect his swollen ankle to keep him from playing Thursday, so Fantasy owners can rest easy. He can continue to be active in a large amount of Fantasy leagues.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson could not practice on Tuesday due to a swollen left ankle, reports the Orlando Sentinel. Coach Stan Van Gundy doesn't expect the injury to be serious and expects him to practice on Wednesday.
Analysis: Nelson has been playing well lately for the Magic with 16.5 points, 5.8 assists, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and almost two 3-pointers per game over his last five contests. We don't expect his swollen ankle to keep him from playing in any games. He can continue to be active in a large amount of Fantasy leagues.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson scored a season-high 23 points and dished out eight dimes in Friday's loss to the Raptors. Nelson missed two games with an ankle injury this year, but was able to stay on the court for 37 minutes against Toronto. He shot 9 for 15 from the field, grabbed two rebounds and had a steal. It wasn't enough though, as the Magic would lose the game, 110-106.
Analysis: Nelson looked good on Friday, which is good news. He's missed two of the Magic's eight games this year, which is a bit troublesome. He's an injury prone player, so Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his ankle to make sure he's 100 percent moving forward. When he's healthy, Nelson is capable of these 20 point and solid assist performances. He should be viewed as a No. 3 or No. 4 guard in standard formats.
News: As expected guard Jameer Nelson was in the starting lineup for the Magic on Friday night against the Raptors. He played 32 minutes on Wednesday against Utah -- his first game back after missing two outings with a sprained ankle. He was seen limping after the game, but said he was just sore.
Analysis: Nelson being able to play is good news as he's been injury prone through his career. Fantasy owners should keep a close eye on him as the season progresses. But as of right now, while he's healthy, he should be viewed as a No. 3 or No. 4 guard in standard formats.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson played 32 minutes on Wednesday against Utah. Nelson missed the previous two games with a sprained ankle, but was able to take the court versus the Jazz. He scored 19 points on a 5-for-12 shooting performance -- 4 for 7 from downtown -- and a perfect 5 for 5 from the charity stripe. Nelson added five rebounds and a team-high seven assists for the Magic before fouling out of the game. He also had two steals in the Magic's 104-94 loss. Nelson was limping on his left ankle after the game in the locker room. He said it was just soreness and expects to play Friday against Toronto.
Analysis: Nelson has been injury prone through his career, so this latest ding in his armor gave Fantasy owners a bit of a scare. He missed just two games, but has durability issues. He can score and dish out assists with the best of them, just not on a consistent basis. Playing for a good Orlando team helps his Fantasy value, as he's worth using as a No. 3 or No. 4 guard in standard formats.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson, who has missed the last two games with a sprained left ankle, will return Wednesday against the Jazz, coach Stan Van Gundy told the Orlando Sentinel after the team's shootaround Wednesday morning.
Analysis: Nelson was able to practice in full Tuesday and thought he'd be able to return then, so he must be feeling pretty good. Nelson can be inconsistent as a scorer, but in leagues that reward double the points for assists, he's worth using as a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy guard.
News: According to the Orlando Sentinel, Magic PG Jameer Nelson, who missed Monday's game because of a sprained left ankle, practiced in full Tuesday and is looking more likely to play Wednesday against the Jazz after originally looking like he'd be out until Friday.
Analysis: Nelson said the real test would come when he practices Wednesday, so you shouldn't go activating him in daily leagues just yet. But this report Tuesday is certainly a good sign. Nelson can be inconsistent as a scorer, but in leagues that reward double the points for assists, he's worth using as a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy guard.
News: The Orlando Magic were without starting point guard Jameer Nelson against Atlanta on Monday night because of a sprained left ankle. Nelson was hurt late in Friday's win against New Jersey and missed the team's win at Charlotte on Friday. Chris Duhon started in his place. Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said they hope to get Nelson back for Wednesday's game against Utah but it is more likely to be Friday against Toronto.
Analysis: Coach Stan Van Gundy had expressed optimism that Nelson could return by Monday, but he did not get medical clearance and will have to target Wednesday's game against Utah or Friday at the latest. The Magic do have four games in Fantasy Week 3 (Nov. 8-14), so there is a chance Nelson could still play a few games. However, the lack of a guarantee makes him too risky for most formats. When healthy, Nelson remains a No. 3/4 guard option based on the size of your league.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson was inactive for Saturday's 91-88 win over the Bobcats with an ankle injury. He twisted his left ankle late Friday night but coach Stan Van Gundy said after that game that he is hopefully Nelson would play Monday against Atlanta. "It's getting better and I'm just trying to get as much treatment as I can before the next game and see how it feels then," Nelson said. "There is no timetable."
Analysis: Nelson had a season-high 20 points and six assists in the game in which he suffered the injury but he joined the team on the roadtrip to Charlotte. He has struggled to find his rhythm in the early going this season but could be back on the court as soon as Monday. He is still worth using as a No. 3 Fantasy guard most of the time but make sure he is healthy before activation him for Week 3.
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson (ankle) missed Saturday's game at Charlotte. Chris Duhon got the start at point guard in the 91-88 win. Nelson was hurt late in Friday's win against New Jersey. He had a season-high 20 points and six assists in the game. Nelson made the trip to Charlotte, but was ruled out before the team arrived at the arena Saturday.
Analysis: Nelson has struggled to find his rhythm in the early going this season but he should get there before long. He is still worth using as a No. 3 Fantasy guard most of the time. Unfortunately, this injury makes him a risky start in Week 3 (Nov. 8-14).
News: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson tweaked his ankle with 2 minutes left in Friday's game with New Jersey. He was helped off the court by his teammates and took a seat on the bench. The Magic would go on to win the game, 105-90. Nelson finished with 20 points on a 7-for-12 shooting performance -- hitting 50 percent of his 3-pointers and going 4 for 6 from the foul line. He added a team-high six assists, two boards and one steal in 33 minutes of action. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Nelson said X-Rays on his left ankle showed no fractures. He'll see how he feels tomorrow before a decision is made.
Analysis: The fact Nelson got hurt late in Friday's game is exactly what keeps Fantasy owners away from him. He's been injury prone during his career, so he hasn't been able to reach his full potential. But he plays the point for one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, so he'll get his numbers. They may not be as good as owners or the Magic would like, but they are good enough to make him a nice No. 3 Fantasy guard. Owners should keep an eye on his ankle issue to make sure it's not serious.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson shadowed rookie John Wall in Thursday's season opener, limiting him to six points in the first half. Nelson would log just 24 minutes as Orlando cruised to a 112-83 victory. Nelson went 6 for 8 from the field, going 2 for 4 from downtown, as he finished with 16 points. He also hit two free throws for Orlando. Nelson would round out his stat line with two boards, six assists and two steals.
Analysis: Nelson and the other Orlando starters were able to rest most of the fourth quarter, so they should be fully rested for Friday's showdown with Miami. Nelson runs the show for one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, but needs to stay healthy to hold onto his No. 3 Fantasy guard option. He has potential to be a No. 2 option, but until he proves his durability that won't happen.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson shot just 1 for 8 from the field in Wednesday's preseason win over the Mavericks. He missed all four of his 3-point attempts and was 1 for 2 from the foul line. Nelson played 24 minutes for Orlando, dishing out 10 assists, grabbing five boards and making one steal.
Analysis: Nelson was averaging 8.7 points and 5.2 assists this preseason entering Wednesday's game. The six-year veteran has played in just 176 games the past three seasons, which hurts his Fantasy value. He has potential and can score in double-digits and dish out a good amount of assists, when healthy. Unfortunately he hasn't been too healthy in his career, so he's worth a pick for a No. 3 Fantasy guard on Draft Day, although he has the potential to be a No. 2 guard.
News: Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy rest most of his starters on Thursday's preseason game against Charlotte, but used guard Jameer Nelson off the bench. Nelson played 18 minutes and shot 4 fro 7 from the field, hitting his lone 3-point attempt. He finished the night with nine points, three assists and three boards.
Analysis: Nelson played in 218 games through his first three years in the NBA, but his last three he's seen a drop off -- playing in just 176. He can give Fantasy owners double-digit points and around five assists per contest, but injuries have plagued him thus far in his career. It also is playing a part in his limited action so far in the preseason. He already has his starting job and Van Gundy doesn't want him to get hurt. When healthy, Nelson can be considered a No. 2 Fantasy guard, but seeing how he hasn't been healthy, Fantasy owners should view him as a No. 3 option on Draft Day.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson played 27 minutes in his preseason opener against the Houston Rockets. He showed some signs of rust and shot 3 for 9 from the field while scoring eight points. He added seven assists and a steal.
Analysis: Nelson has been a frustrating player for Fantasy owners because he has the ability to put numbers worthy of a No. 2 guard in many Fantasy leagues, but has failed to stay healthy or prove consistent. He is worth a mid-round pick in most formats as a No. 3 guard, but you'll have to make up for his deficiencies by adding depth at guard.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson (illness) was in the lineup for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Hawks on Tuesday. Nelson started and drained 8 of 12 shots on his way to 19 points. He also had five assists and one rebound in 25 minutes.
Analysis: Nelson poured in 23.8 points per game in four contests against the Bobcats in the opening round of the playoffs. He has really stepped up his game in the postseason. That should be great momentum for Nelson heading into the offseason. Nelson can be highly inconsistent over the course of the season and is also prone to injuries. This limits his Fantasy appeal to that of a No. 3 Fantasy guard in standard formats heading into 2010-11.
News: The official team website of the Magic reports that after not practicing Sunday due to a stomach illness, guard Jameer Nelson was back in action Monday. He is expected to play in Tuesday's Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against Atlanta.
Analysis: Nelson has been sensational during the playoffs with a strong series against Charlotte in Round 1. Hopefully he can continue to play at that level in Round 2 against the Hawks. Nelson is a solid Fantasy option heading into 2010-11, and is worth a mid-round pick in all leagues.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson had 32 points with four rebounds and three assists in Game 3 of the team's Eastern Conference series in Charlotte. It was his second game with 32 points in the series.
Analysis: Nelson has been a go-to scorer out of the back court in two of the first three games of the series and has responded well to the added responsibilities. He has this type of ability, but can be highly inconsistent over the course of the season and is also prone to injuries. This limits his Fantasy appeal to that of a No. 3 Fantasy guard in standard formats.
News: G Jameer Nelson scored 24 of his 32 points in the first half, and the Orlando Magic nearly blew a 22-point lead before beating the Charlotte Bobcats 98-89 in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series Sunday. Nelson finished the game shooting 10 of 18 from the floor, including a 3-point buzzer beater to end the first half. He also added six assists and a steal in 37 minutes. After missing the first three rounds of the playoffs last year recovering from right shoulder surgery, Nelson is healthy again and ready to redeem his NBA finals flop. "In the finals, I wasn't myself," Nelson said. "Not making any excuses, I was out there, so I should have helped my team out a little better. But it feels great being able to help these guys, and not be out there in a suit cheering them on as much as I did last year."
Analysis: Nelson has been playing some of his best basketball down the final stretch of the season and it has flowed over into the playoffs so far. He averaged 12.6 points on the season to go along with 5.4 assists per game. While Nelson normally never exploded in any games this year, he was fairly consistent and provided Fantasy value as a No. 3 guard. As long as he stays healthy throughout the playoffs, he should see a similar role next season.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson had 17 points, eight assists, four rebounds and two steals Sunday at Cleveland. He is finishing the season strong by averaging 14.2 points, 6.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds in his past five games.
Analysis: Nelson should finish out the season playing well even though Orlando is locked into the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Magic could start to limit his minutes in the final two games at Indiana on Monday and against Philadelphia on Wednesday, but Nelson remains a quality Fantasy option and is worth using in most scoring formats.

Analysis: Nelson is averaging 9.4 points over his last five contests while dishing out 3.8 assists. Nelson is getting back on track after underperforming in three of his last five games. Analysis: Nelson has scored at last 14 points in four straight games and is shooting extremely well with five 3-pointers over that span. With 6.8 assists per game in his last five, Nelson is finally looking like the top-shelf point guard we though he'd be. You can begin starting him in most 12-team and deeper leagues. Look for him to have a very strong second half of the year.
News: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson played well in a win over Cleveland on Sunday. Nelson scored 18 points on 8 of 13 shooting with two 3-pointers. He added five assists and four boards.
Analysis: Nelson is giving Fantasy owners 14.4 points, 6.2 assists and a three per game over his last five. You'd like to see him rebound a bit more and pick up some more steals, but Nelson is consistent with what he does and remains a solid Fantasy play in most 12-team and deeper leagues. Orlando only plays three times in Week 18 (Feb. 22-28).
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson scored 16 points against the Mavericks on Friday, his fourth straight game in double figures. In 33 minutes, he shot 8 of 15 from the field, 0 of 1 from 3-point range. He grabbed four rebounds and dished six assists.

Analysis: Nelson is averaging 9.0 points, 5.3 assists and fewer than a three per night over his last five games. Yes, he's been struggling lately for Orlando. The Magic play twice more before the break and hopefully he turns things around. Nelson is normally a solid start in Fantasy.

Analysis: Nelson has scored in double figures in three of his last four games, and he could have scored double figures if he didn't leave the Pistons game with an injury. He has the ability to score in double figures and hand out almost five dimes per game making him a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports Magic guard Jameer Nelson will start Friday night against the Wizards, coach Stan Van Gundy said after the team completed its shootaround. Van Gundy said he hasn't been given any playing-time restrictions for Nelson, who hyperextended his left knee Sunday and missed Tuesday's game against Milwaukee. Nelson said he has no concerns that playing five games in seven nights will take a toll on his knee. "I'm feeling pretty good, so I'm going to go and play," Nelson said. "No limitations at all. I'll just go out there and play my game and play as hard as I can."
Analysis: It appears safe to keep Nelson active in all daily leagues. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy guard when he's 100 percent and hope he doesn't suffer any setbacks.
News: According to the Orlando Sentinel, Magic G Jameer Nelson (knee) was able to practice Thursday. He is on track to play Friday against Washington.
Analysis: Nelson did not play Tuesday against the Bucks due to a hyperextended left knee. He appears ready to play again Friday, but could still be a game-time decision. Take a cautious approach with Nelson and keep him reserved until he proves healthy and productive again. When at full strength, he can be a very solid No. 3 guard.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson did not play Tuesday against the Bucks due to a hyperextended left knee. Jason Williams started in his place, finishing with 11 points, five assists, five rebounds and three steals.
Analysis: Over his last five games, Nelson has averaged 12.6 points per game to go along with 3.4 assists and 2.8 rebounds. He has the upside of a low-end No. 2 guard when he is fully healthy, but he's not there right now and should be treated as more of a No. 3 or 4 option. Adjust your lineup accordingly in daily lineup leagues.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports on Tuesday that Magic guard Jameer Nelson will not play on Tuesday against the Bucks. Nelson, who hyperextended his left knee Sunday, will watch the game from the bench.
Analysis: Nelson left Sunday's contest with Detroit because of a knee injury. Over his last five games, Nelson has averaged 12.6 points per game to go along with 3.4 assists and 2.8 rebounds. He has the upside of a low-end No. 2 guard when he is fully healthy, but he's not there right now and should be treated as more of a No. 3 or 4 option. Adjust your lineup accordingly in daily lineup leagues.
News: According to the Orlando Sentinel, Jameer Nelson (knee) will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's game against Milwaukee. Coach Stan Van Gundy said Jameer Nelson participated in the team's morning shootaround, but Van Gundy said he doesn't know if Nelson will play.
News: Orlando G Jameer Nelson left Sunday's contest with Detroit because of a knee injury. Coach Stan Van Gundy said he didn't expect to know anything about the status of Nelson until Monday.
Analysis: Over his last five games, Nelson has averaged 12.6 points per game to go along with 3.4 assists and 2.8 rebounds. The injury will probably effect the Magic more than Fantasy owners. Nelson is generally a No. 3 guard in most Fantasy formats.
News: Orlando G Jameer Nelson scored 14 points as the Magic defeated Atlanta 104-86 on Saturday. Nelson played 27 minutes shooting 5 of 7 from the field and adding five assists.
Analysis: Over his last five games, Nelson has averaged 13 points per game while bringing in 3.4 rebounds and dishing out 4.4 assists. He has scored in double figures over his last four games and can be used as a No. 3 Fantasy guard in most leagues.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson made the most of his season-high 39 minutes against the Bobcats on Saturday, finishing with 21 points, seven assists and one steal. It was his highest point total since ringing up 30 on Nov. 1. He shot 8 of 12 from the field, including 3 of 3 from downtown.
Analysis: While Nelson has scored in double figures eight times in 13 games in the month of January, his averages of 11.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists make him at best a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson dished eight assists in Monday's loss to the Lakers to go along with his 13 points. He added two steals in 33 minutes at point.
Analysis: Nelson's eight assists marked the first time he recorded more than five dimes in his past six games, and broke a streak of four consecutive games with three assists or less. His meager assist totals combined with a scoring average of only 11.9 points per game this season keep Nelson a No. 4 Fantasy guard.
News: Orlando PG Jameer Nelson shot 7 for 11 and hit a three on Friday in a blowout loss at Portland. Nelson scored 15 points and dished out three assists.
Analysis: Nelson hasn't scored over 16 points since early November and is averaging just 11.8 points per game on the season. That would be fine if he were passing out of this world but he hasn't had more than five dimes in any of his last five contests and is averaging 4.8 per game on the year. The Magic and Fantasy owners are still hoping he will improve but right now he's just a No. 4 Fantasy guard.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson, who averaged 7.3 points in his first four games back from knee surgery, had 16 points and four assists Tuesday at Indiana, giving him an average of 14.0 points over his last three games.
Analysis: Nelson still isn't playing quite like he did last year, when he averaged 16.7 points per game, but you can only expect him to do so much scoring in the same backcourt as Vince Carter. Once he gets his legs under him, he'll be a No. 3 Fantasy guard. For now, think of him as a No. 4.
News: Orlando PG Jameer Nelson got the start on Wednesday against the Bucks but it was backup PG Jason Williams who stole the show. Williams scored 16 points in 25 minutes off the bench as he went 5 of 7 from the field and 5 of 5 from three-point range. He added seven dimes. Nelson played 23 minutes as the starter and shot just 1 of 7 to score four points and dish out three dimes.
Analysis: Nelson is averaging just 7.3 points per game over his last five contests and that comes with 2.8 assists over almost 25 minutes per night. By contrast, Williams is getting 21 minutes per night over his last five and his numbers are comparable at 7.4 points and 4.0 dimes. These two could switch places in the starting lineup at some point but for now should remain where they are. Nelson is still trying to get to 100 percent health after knee issues and it appears he might not be ready to be back to full speed. When that happens, Williams could become an afterthought in Fantasy. Still, until that happens, Williams seems like the better Fantasy play.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson returned Monday against the Jazz, playing for the first time since he had surgery Nov. 18 to repair torn cartilage in his left knee. The All-Star point guard finished with two points and one assist in 14 minutes off the bench, shooting 0 for 6 from the field.
Analysis: The original plan called for Nelson to return on Wednesday against the Rockets, but he impressed in practice so much the past two days that he could be on the floor Monday. The Magic will slow work him back into the starting lineup, but once he gets his legs back under him, he'll contribute enough points and assists to serve as a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: According to the team's official Web site, Jameer Nelson (knee) could play Monday night against Utah. He's missed the past four weeks following arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee. Nelson went through shootaround drills with Orlando on Saturday and endured a full practice with no troubling signs on Sunday.
Analysis: The report added that if there's no swelling in Nelson's knee, the Magic's captain should play. The original plan called for him to return on Wednesday against the Houston Rockets, but Nelson impressed in practice the past two days so much so that he could be on the floor Monday. Magic coach Stan Van Gundy has said that Nelson is his starting point guard once fully healthy, but because he's likely to play only limited minutes Monday, he'll come off the bench if he can play. Jason Williams, who played well in Saturdays win against Portland, will continue to start. Fantasy owners should use this week to gauge Nelson before activating him because he is not yet 100 percent.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Jameer Nelson (knee) was able to practice Saturday as he attempts to make his return from a tear in his lateral meniscus in his left knee. He will not play until Dec. 23 against Houston.
Analysis: That rules Nelson out for Monday's game against Utah and makes him too risky to start in most Fantasy formats for Week 9 (Dec. 21-27). He would play two games in a best-case scenario and likely would be limited for both games as he has not played since Nov. 16. He's close to returning to your Fantasy lineups, but it should not be this week.
News: PG Jameer Nelson could return to the Magic lineup by next week. Heading into Thursday's game at Miami, Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said Nelson is scheduled to practice Sunday, and if all goes well, he could return to the team's starting lineup soon thereafter.
Analysis: Nelson had surgery Nov. 18 to repair torn cartilage in his left knee. He was averaging 13.7 points and 5.5 assists before getting hurt. Most likely, the Magic will work him back into the lineup gradually, so you'll probably want to reserve him for Fantasy Week 9 (Dec. 21-27) whether or not he does return. Sharing the backcourt with Vince Carter, he probably won't score as well as he did last year, but he still gets enough assists to serve as a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Jameer Nelson said Tuesday that the tear in his lateral meniscus in his left knee was more extensive than doctors previously thought. "It was a little bigger than they thought," Nelson said. "It doesn't make any difference if you had to go in and fix it. Don't worry. I'll still have my hops."
Analysis: Some teammates have been forecasting a quicker return for Nelson then the original four-to-six week prognosis. When asked about how far he was from a come back, Nelson said, coyly, "Weeks. Four to six. That's what I say. I don't know." Nelson said he started electrical stimulation treatments on Tuesday. Keep him stashed away and monitor his progress.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson is having surgery again. The team says the All-Star point guard will have arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Wednesday to repair a torn meniscus. He is expected to miss four to six weeks. Nelson was injured in the fourth quarter of Monday night's win against Charlotte. This is the second straight season he has been sidelined. Nelson tore the labrum in his right shoulder in February and had surgery. In a surprise move, he returned for the NBA finals, struggling to regain his form as Orlando lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in five games. Nelson is averaging 13.7 points and 5.5 assists per game this season.
Analysis: With Nelson out, the Magic will turn the starting job over to Jason Williams, who has been the No. 2 option on the bench. Williams is averaging 5.4 points and 4.0 assists in 18.4 minutes per game. Keep Nelson reserved in all leagues and hope he can return soon. When healthy, Nelson is a No. 2 Fantasy guard in all scoring formats.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson continued to deliver all-around solid numbers against the Bobcats on Monday. He finished with 16 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals, shooting 2 for 6 from 3-point range.
Analysis: After a slow start, Nelson is having a good month of November, averaging over 15 points and five assists per game. You can expect those kinds of numbers from him all season, making him at worst a No. 3 guard in Fantasy, when healthy.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson had 19 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds in Wednesday's game against Cleveland. He also made a three-pointer for the fourth straight game and added 2 steals with just 2 turnovers.
Analysis: Nelson is averaging 14.4 points, 6.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds over his last five games. He isn't off to a an outstanding start, but he isn't killing Fantasy owners either. He's a worthy starter in all formats while healthy as a regular double-digit scorer with good assists and peripheral numbers.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson helped the team defeat the Suns on Wednesday night. Nelson scored 16 points on 7 of 13 shooting over 24 minutes on the court. He added 10 assists.
Analysis: Nelson has been largely mediocre thus far this season. He has scored nine or fewer points in three of his five games but the other two were 30 and 16-point efforts. All that would be fine as long as he continues putting up solid assist numbers but Wednesday was the first time he's been in double figures in that category. He has shot poorly thus far but we're sure he'll turn that around. We expect plenty of double-digit games in both points and assists. Nelson remains a high-end Fantasy PG.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson scored seven points and shot 3 of 6 from the field in his 2009 regular season debut against Philly on Wednesday night. Nelson dished out six assists, picked up two steals and a block.
Analysis: Nelson will have better days going forward. We expect plenty of double-digit games in both points and assists. Nelson remains a high-end Fantasy PG.
News: Orlando Magic All-Star point guard Jameer Nelson had no regrets about returning earlier than expected for the NBA finals and said it won't affect his rehabilitation. "I don't regret coming back," Nelson said. "I regret some of the plays I made, but I don't regret coming back. Now I just have to listen to the training staff and get ready to play next season. I'll be fine."
Analysis: Nelson had what was then-called season-ending surgery in February and was supposed to be out another two months. He was still rusty and recovering from shoulder surgery in the finals, which the Magic lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in five games, and starter Rafer Alston complained about minutes after two games in the series. Alston's future with the team is undetermined, but the possibility is there that he could be traded and that would once again clear the way for Nelson to become the team's primary point guard. Prior to getting hurt this season, he was enjoying a breakout season. Monitor this situation in the offseason.
News: The Magic, who went 2-0 against the Lakers in the regular season, appeared a touch overwhelmed in their first finals appearance since 1995 on Thursday in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Not even the return of All-Star point guard Jameer Nelson from a four-month layoff following shoulder surgery could help the Eastern Conference champions. Nelson sat the first quarter as he has throughout the playoffs, but coach Stan Van Gundy started him in the second quarter and the healed guard made an immediate impact. Nervously chomping on his black mouthpiece and darting as always, he made a sweet bounce pass to Marcin Gortat for a dunk on Orlando's first possession in the period. Nelson finished with six points on 3-for-9 shooting with four assists and two rebounds in 23 minutes of action.
Analysis: Nelson returning to game action before the end of the playoffs is good news for his Fantasy owners assuming he doesn't aggravate the injury during the NBA Finals. He should return to being a must-start Fantasy guard looking ahead to the 2009-2010 season.
News: He's an All-Star, he feels healthy, and he dominated the Lakers during the regular season. So it seems pretty simple: Jameer Nelson should play in the NBA finals. It's not so easy to the Magic, who still weren't ready to make a decision Wednesday before practicing for the final time before facing the Lakers in Game 1. "It's a tough decision on Jameer either way you go, because I think he is able to play right now," coach Stan Van Gundy said. "Now, how much he can do, I don't know. We'll just decide after today if we think playing him gives us a better chance to win than not playing him. It's really as simple as that, but the decision won't be easy."
Analysis: Nelson was expected to be off the court until August following surgery on Feb. 19. But he's regained full range of motion, and began taking part in full-court drills during the Magic's Eastern Conference finals victory over the Cavaliers. He said he'll help the Magic somehow in the finals, even if it's just offering encouragement from the bench. He'd prefer to do it from the court. "You just want to play. You never know when you're going to get back to the finals," Nelson said. "You want to play, you want to compete with your team, but if I'm not able to, I can't do it. I'm not going to do anything crazy or anything to jeopardize my future." Fantasy owners would prefer to see him just watch the NBA Finals and not risk further injury. Assuming he has no setbacks, Nelson should be a must-start guard once again in the 2009-2010 season.
News: Orlando Magic players say Jameer Nelson will play in the NBA finals, even though the All-Star point guard and his coach remain publicly pessimistic. Nelson participated in a full team practice Tuesday for the first time since tearing the labrum in his right shoulder Feb. 2. While Nelson and coach Stan Van Gundy still said it won't be determined until game day, players said Nelson looked "terrific" and expect the point guard to be on the court against the Los Angeles Lakers. Backup point guard Anthony Johnson said, "I expect to see him out there at some point in the series." Nelson had what was then called season-ending surgery Feb. 19. Nelson's rehabilitation was supposed to take at least another two months. Game 1 of the finals is Thursday night in Los Angeles.
Analysis: It sounds like Nelson will play, but how much will likely be determined throughout the course of the game. Again, our only hope is Nelson doesn't suffer any setbacks because he is a quality Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Orlando is evaluating All-Star point guard Jameer Nelson for a possible return to the Magic lineup for the NBA finals that begin Thursday night in Los Angeles. Magic spokesman Joel Glass said on Sunday that Nelson's rehabilitation from a shoulder injury is ahead of schedule but that his status remains uncertain. Nelson has been out since early February with what had been called a season-ending shoulder tear. Magic president Bob Vander Weide told The Orlando Sentinel after Saturday's win against Cleveland that he wanted Nelson to take another MRI and consult with doctors for a possible comeback. Nelson has been working out and has said he has full range of motion. But Magic general manager Otis Smith has repeatedly said there is no way Nelson could return this season.
Analysis: This would be great news for Nelson as long as he doesn't suffer a setback heading into next year. He has the chance to be a solid No. 3 Fantasy guard when healthy and barring a lack of playing time now that Orlando has Rafer Alston on the roster. We'll see if he plays or not againt the Lakers, but the key for Nelson is to be 100 percent for next season to make sure he's a quality Fantasy option once again.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports Magic guard Jameer Nelson increased his workouts Wednesday. Nelson, who suffered a season-ending injury to his right shoulder in early February, worked after the morning shoot-around on the floor in Boston. He primarily used his left hand in driving drills, but GM Otis Smith said that Nelson is expected to start shooting next week.
Analysis: This is a good sign that Nelson could be ready for the start of next year. Nelson feels confident he will be ready for training camp, but he also must deal with the presence of new point guard Rafer Alston. Nelson will lose time to Alston, but Nelson remains a quality No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: The Magic say All-Star point guard Jameer Nelson will miss the rest of the season after having shoulder surgery. Nelson had a successful procedure performed Thursday by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala. and the Magic said he would need an estimated four to six months of rehabilitation. Nelson dislocated his right shoulder and tore his labrum on Feb. 2 against Dallas. Before that, he had been selected to his first All-Star game after averaging 16.7 points.
Analysis: The Southeast Division-leading Magic made a trade to replace Nelson before Thursday's deadline, acquiring Rafer Alston from Houston in a three-team deal that also included Memphis. He can be released in all seasonal leagues, but can be put on injured reserve if he is an eligible keeper in long-term keeper leagues. Nelson was a No. 1 Fantasy guard before getting injured.
News: The Sporting News reports that Magic GM Otis Smith said Thursday that Jameer Nelson is done playing this season, whether he has surgery on his injured shoulder or not. "You can rehab it and still play, but that's usually when it's the off (nonshooting) shoulder," Smith said. "He goes down four or five times a game and that shoulder just wouldn't hold up. He's one of my toughest players, but we can't let him play through this."
Analysis: Nelson suffered a torn labrum in his right (shooting) shoulder February 2. Smith has allowed him to seek medical options that might let him return this season, and the team is expected to announce next week whether he will have arthroscopic surgery that would require six months of rehab. It is safe to cut ties with him in seasonal Fantasy leagues now.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports Magic guard Jameer Nelson said he has a "pretty good-sized tear" in the labrum of his right shoulder. He will begin rehabbing the injury as soon as "the inflammation settles down," which could be a week. He then will make a decision whether to undergo surgery or continue to rehab the shoulder in hopes of playing before the end of season. On Thursday, the Magic traded shooting guard Keith Bogans to the Milwaukee Bucks for point guard Tyronn Lue and cash considerations. Lue will backup starter Anthony Johnson while Nelson is out.
Analysis: Nelson likely will miss significant time before he decides on surgery or coming back, and the trade is a strong indication the Magic are making plans for him to miss the rest of the season. For now, be patient and keep him stashed on the injured list, otherwise release him if you need the roster space because he could be out for a while.
News: All-Star point guard Jameer Nelson could miss the rest of the season for the Orlando Magic because of a torn labrum in his right shoulder. An MRI exam revealed the injury Tuesday, the team announced. Nelson left the Magic's 105-95 loss to the Mavericks on Monday night in the third quarter after he was fouled by Dallas center Erick Dampier and hit the floor. Nelson said Tuesday his "spirits are high" and is optimistic he can play again this season.
Analysis: Nelson will decide over the next week whether he will have surgery or attempt rehabilitation. If surgery is the option, his season is likely over. If he passes on the surgery, he'll still most likely be out at least several weeks. He is likely looking at at least a few weeks of recovery time and Fantasy owners should be prepared to go without him for a while. The Magic have a chance to make a trade for help at point guard prior to the Feb. 19 deadline or they could acquire a free agent. Anthony Johnson is likely going to start in the near future, but he has minimal Fantasy upside and is merely worth adding as a low-end reserve for now.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson left Monday night's game against the Dallas Mavericks in the third quarter after dislocating his right shoulder. Nelson stole the ball from Mavericks center Erick Dampier, who fouled Nelson to the floor. Nelson got up clutching his right shoulder and headed to the locker room. Earlier Monday, it was announced that Nelson would participate in the skills challenge competition as part of the All-Star break contests. Nelson was already heading to Phoenix after being added as an All-Star reserve to the East roster, joining teammates Dwight Howard and Rashard Lewis. Nelson is scheduled to have an MRI on Tuesday.
Analysis: Nelson finished the night with six points and two assists in 19 minutes. He's averaging 17 points and 5.5 assists on the season and is a must-start All-Star guard. Hopefully this injury isn't too serious and he can return to action shortly.
News: Orlando PG Jameer Nelson finished just two rebounds short of a triple-double on Super Bowl Sunday against the Raptors in Toronto. Nelson scored 18 points and added 10 dimes in the game over 31 minutes. He shot 6-of-11 with three threes.
Analysis: Nelson has 12 threes in his last four contests and they come with an average of 16 points, seven assists and five rebounds. He's shooting well of late and is playing like a must-start Fantasy point guard.
News: Orlando PG Jameer Nelson hit four threes en route to scoring 18 points to help the Magic destroy Cleveland on Thursday night, 99-88. Nelson dished out three assists and grabbed three rebounds and shot 6-of-11 from the field.
Analysis: Nelson was limping after the game but when asked said that he's fine to play through that. He's still playing at a high level with 17 points, five assists and almost three threes per game. He's a must-start in Fantasy.
News: Orlando PG Jameer Nelson was just 1-for-6 from long range on Thursday night in a loss to the Boston Celtics. Nelson scored 17 points -- his lowest total since Jan. 9 against Atlanta -- on 6-of-16 shooting and added three assists.
Analysis: Nelson has an off game on Thursday against one of the best defensive teams in basketball. It happens. He's still averaging 23-3-6 over his last five games and is a must-start across the board in Fantasy.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson had 28 points, eight assists and six rebounds in Friday's game at the Lakers. It was his third straight game with 20-plus points.
Analysis: Nelson is averaging a 20-8-3 line over his last five games with 1.6 steals in that span and multiple threes in four straight. Why he is only active in 62 percent of leagues is beyond us. Fantasy owners need to hurry up and get him active in all leagues because he is producing at the level of a No. 1 guard -- not bad for a player who was drafted int he middle-to-late rounds in all leagues.
News: Orlando PG Jameer Nelson led the Magic to a big 139-107 victory over Sacramento on Tuesday night. Nelson nailed all five three pointers he attempted in the game and shot 8-for-12 overall with five steals and 11 assists to go with 23 points in 26 minutes.
Analysis: Nelson is averaging 18 points and six assists with three boards, two steals and over two threes per night over his last five games. He's playing out of this world right now and is absolutely a must-start in every Fantasy format while he's this hot.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson was one assist away from a double-double on Friday against the Hawks with 14 points and nine rebounds. Nelson has scored under his per-game average of 16.3 in each of his last six games.
Analysis: Nelson hasn't been dreadful lately but he's not reaching the expectations that he has set for him in terms of Fantasy stats. He is a consistent must-start option who can hopefully step up his play in the near future.
News: Orlando PG Jameer Nelson scored 15 points on Sunday at Toronto in a losing effort, 108-102. Nelson added three assists and five boards in the loss and shot just 4-of-11 from the field. Nelson did hit three of six threes. Nelson did score eight points in the 2nd quarter to help the Magic get back into the game before the half.
Analysis: Nelson is still playing well of late with 14.2 points and 4.2 assists per game over his last five but those numbers are below his season average. He's still a three-point specialist, however, and the Magic play four games in Week 11 (Jan. 5-11) making him a must-start across the board.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson was held to nine points, two rebounds and no assists Monday at Detroit. This was his first game without an assist all season and his lowest point total since Nov. 24 against Milwaukee when he had eight -- a span of 12 games.
Analysis: Nelson came into this game averaging 16.7 points and 5.2 assists for the season. He will likely bounce back from this game and continue to play well in a breakout season. Keep him active in all scoring formats.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson returned with an injured toe to score 12 in the final frame on Saturday night and the Magic slowly pulled away to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 118-94. He finished with 20 points. Nelson left early in the third quarter with a jammed toe on his right foot. X-rays were negative, and he returned early in the fourth. "I just kept my poise and made the plays when we needed them," he said. "We started playing better defense when we needed it, when it counted. And we made our shots." With his right foot in a bucket of ice, Nelson said he'll play Monday in Detroit. Coach Stan Van Gundy said that Nelson, who missed five games Nov. 26 to Dec. 3, is playing as well as any point guard in the league.
Analysis: Nelson has turned into a quality No. 2 Fantasy guard and should be started in all leagues at this time. Hopefully this recent hot streak will continue for Nelson and he won't miss any time with the toe injury that he left Saturday's game with and ultimately returned.
News:Jameer Nelson has elevated his play during the Orlando Magic's five-game winning streak. Nelson scored 22 points and had seven assists to help the Orlando Magic rout the Golden State Warriors 113-81 on Monday night. Nelson, named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the first time in his career earlier on Monday, was 9-for-9 from the field -- including hitting four 3-pointers. "I'm not stat-chasing, Player of the Week chasing or All-Star chasing, I'm just trying to help us win games," Nelson said. "Honors like that, they'll come to somebody on a team that's winning, but we've got to keep winning." He had 13 points and four assists in the third period when the Magic blew open a close game with a 22-9 run on their way to their ninth win in 10 games. "Jameer is carrying us right now," said teammate Mickael Pietrus, who scored 14 points. "I've been telling him that he's playing at an all-star level and if he keeps playing like this, he?s going to make an all-star team." Nelson broke the Amway Arena record for most field goals in a game without a miss.
Analysis: Nelson has turned into a quality No. 2 Fantasy guard and should be started in all leagues at this time. Hopefully this recent hot streak will continue for Nelson.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson had 24 points, seven assists, two steals and two three pointers in Thursday's game against San Antonio. He is averaging 22 points in his past five games.
Analysis: Nelson is averaging a 20-6-3 line in December and is somehow still only starting in 59 percent of CBSSports.com leagues. That should not be. Right now, he is producing at the level of a No. 1 or 2 Fantasy guard for any format.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson wasn't keeping track of how many shots he was taking. All he knew was his team needed some offense and he was feeling good. Nelson scored 23 of his career high-tying 32 points in the second half, and the Orlando Magic beat the Golden State Warriors 109-98 on Monday night for their fourth victory in five road games. "I have no idea how many shots it was -- I was just shooting," Nelson said. "I tell people all the time if the shot is there, I'm going to take it. I missed a ton of easy shots in the first half, and they were good shots. They were shots that were given to me, so I just continued to take them in the second half."
Analysis: Nelson made nine of his first 11 shots in the second half after missing seven of 11 in the first half. He scored 15 points in the third quarter as Orlando continually pulled away after Golden State tied the game at 53 with 8:48 remaining. "They were doubling (Hedo Turkoglu) on the pick-and-rolls and he was making great decisions in passing the ball," Nelson said. "Guys were finding me, and it was just one of those nights where you feel good." Nelson hit four consecutive shots, three of them from long range, to help the Magic regain the advantage for good. If Nelson played like this he would be a No. 2 Fantasy guard. As it is, he is a good starting option and hopefully he can continue to play at this level.
News: Orlando PG Jameer Nelson scored 17 points and had six assists for the Magic on Saturday night in a win over the Jazz. Nelson was 3-of-6 from long range and added three steals. He did commit five turnovers, however.
Analysis: Nelson has been the model of consistency lately averaging 16.8 points and six assists in his last five contests. He's also giving Fantasy owners about two and a half steals per game and has become a very nice start as a solid No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: After missing five games with a back injury, Jameer Nelson returned to the Orlando lineup against the Thunder and had 15 points with seven assists.
Analysis: Nelson is having one of his better years in terms of scoring, but we'll have to wait and see if that continues now that he is back from his injury. He is a solid No. 3 Fantasy Guard that you'll want to activate for Week 7 (Dec. 8-14). The Magoc are back in action on Monday against the Clippers in Los Angeles.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson missed his fifth straight game on Wednesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He's suffering from a hip flexor injury, but he said he will likely return Friday against Oklahoma City
Analysis: Nelson was having one of his better seasons scoring-wise, emerging as a No. 3 Fantasy guard in the process. Keep him reserved for now, but if he returns and looks healthy Friday, you'll want him active for Fantasy Week 7 (Dec. 8-14).
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson missed a fourth straight game Monday at Boston with a hip flexor injury. He remains day to day.
Analysis: Nelson was having one of his better seasons scoring-wise, emerging as a No. 3 Fantasy guard in the process. Keep him reserved for now, but you'll want him on your roster when he returns.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Jameer Nelson (groin) is expected to miss the next 7-10 days after an MRI revealed a hip flexor injury. He had initially been diagnosed with a groin injury.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in weekly leagues are now stuck with him the rest of the week. He had been playing perhaps his best and most consistent basketball of his career prior to going down, so Fantasy owners will want to have him back as soon as possible. It seems December 1 at Boston could be the earliest he would return, but he'd likely be out at least a little longer.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson, entering the game on a streak of three straight games with at least 21 points, left with a groin pull Monday against the Bucks. He finished with eight points and six assists in 17 minutes. Anthony Johnson got more minutes in his absence.
Analysis: Nelson had played well enough recently to emerge as a clear No. 3 Fantasy guard, so this injury comes at the worst possible time. Still, it shouldn't sideline him for more than a game or two, so plan to keep him active except in daily leagues.
News: Orlando PG Jameer Nelson scored at least 20 points for the fourth time in his last five games for the Magic on Saturday night in a loss to the Rockets. Nelson totaled 21 points and added six assists and two steals.
Analysis: Nelson is playing perhaps his best basketball as a professional of late and seems to be coming into his own as a scorer. He has been a bit erratic in that department in his first 300 games as a professional. Start him in any league while he's this hot.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson scored 20-plus points for the third time in his last four games Friday in Indiana. He is averaging 19.4 points over his last five games to go with 4.6 assists and 4.4 rebounds.
Analysis: Nelson is playing perhaps his best basketball as a professional of late and seems to be coming into his own as a scorer. He has been a bit erratic in that department in his first 300 games as a professional. Start him in any league while he's this hot.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson had scored a season-high 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting Tuesday against the Raptors, chipping in five assists and three rebounds. He has topped 20 points in two of his last three games, averaging 18.8 over his last four.
Analysis: Nelson's scoring dipped last season, but he looks back in line with his career norms this season. As long as he averages around 13 points and five assists per game, he deserves to start as a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy guard.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson scored 15 points with five rebounds and three assists Sunday at Charlotte. He has scored 15 or more points in three straight games.
Analysis: Nelson has been extra active as a rebounder of late with five or more rebounds in three of his last four games. He's playing well right now and deserves to be starting in most formats. The Magic play just three games in the upcoming scoring period, so it may be best to reserve him in cumulative leagues if a better four-game option is available. In averaeg leagues, he is playing well enough to use as a No. 3 or 4 guard.
News: Orlando PG Jameer Nelson scored 17 points and added 10 rebounds and four assists on Wednesday night in a win over the Thunder. Nelson nailed three three-pointers.
Analysis: Nelson won't give you this kind of scoring every night but he is consistently around 10-12 points with a good amount of assists. He appears to be improving for the Magic and is not in danger of losing his starting job. He's still worth using in Fantasy as a low-end PG option in 12-team leagues.
News: Orlando PG Jameer Nelson played his best game this season on Thursday night in a victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. Nelson scored a season-high 16 points and added another season high with nine assists. He also had four rebounds and two steals in the game.
Analysis: Nelson had season highs in points and assists and that is where Fantasy owners need him most. Owners will want to see more games this one, however. They've come few and far between in the season's first week and change. He's still worth using in Fantasy as a low-end PG option in 12-team leagues.
News: In Fantasy Week 1 (Oct. 27-Nov. 2), the Magic will play three teams that allowed at least 100 points per game last season, which would indicate a positive start for them in Fantasy.
Analysis: Jameer Nelson will be matched up against Mike Bibby, Mike Conley and Beno Udrih, which means it could be a tougher week for him than the rest of the team, but he can be considered a decent start as a low-end guard in leagues of 12-plus teams still.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson played just 26 minutes in Thursday's preseason game against the Bobcats. He shot 2-for-3 from the floor and scored four points with three assists and two rebounds with a steal.
Analysis: Nelson did a little bit of everything in the game. Don't worry too much about his preseason production. The important thing is that he's healthy and -- for the moment -- is not looking over his shoulder with more job security than he's had the last two years.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Anthony Johnson, the veteran who split time between Atlanta and Sacramento last season, is expected to play significant minutes in a reserve role. The reason is that starting PG Jameer Nelson has worn down quickly in a starting role, rarely playing more than 35 minutes in a game.
Analysis: For a third consecutive season, Nelson's scoring average dropped in 2007-08. He averaged 14.6 ppg in 2005-06, 13.0 ppg in 2006-07 and 10.9 ppg. He did manage a career high in assists (5.6 apg) and rebounds (3.5 rpg), but once again had to deal with the possibility of losing his starting job at times during the year. It's time to stop expecting a breakout season out of Nelson, but he'll still be a solid value in the middle-to-late rounds come Draft Day.
News: For the third consecutive season, Jameer Nelson's scoring average dropped in 2007-08. He averaged 14.6 ppg in 2005-06, 13.0 ppg in 2006-07 and 10.9 ppg this season.
Analysis: Nelson did manage a career high in assists (5.6 apg) and rebounds (3.5 rpg), but once again had to deal with the possibility of losing his starting job at times during the season. It's time to stop expecting a breakout season out of Nelson, but he'll still be a solid value in the middle-to-late rounds come Draft Day because he likely will have more upside than the other guards available in that point of your Fantasy draft.
News:Jameer Nelson (jaw) had 16 points and nine assists in Saturday's game against Cleveland. He played with a specially designed mouthpiece and also added three rebounds, two steals and a block.
Analysis: Fantasy owners who were waiting to see how he fared before deciding whether to activate him or not should consider this an opportunity to activate him for the final scoring period of the season. The Magic are slated for five games in the final week-and-a-half.
News: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson will return to the starting lineup Saturday against the Cavaliers with a specially designed mouthpiece, determined not to change the way he plays, despite at least two concussions within the past two years, reports the Orlando Sentinel. Nelson hasn't played in a game since March 25 when he left early after being accidentally elbowed in the face by teammate Dwight Howard. Although he had concussion-like symptoms, the official diagnosis remains a jaw contusion. He had a CT scan Monday, which revealed some conflicting reports. Nelson was back at practice Thursday, in the thick of a physical workout, and left feeling 100 percent again. He was held out of Tuesday's game against the New Orleans Hornets because he still felt a little dizzy after a Monday workout, which prompted the CT scan.
Analysis: Nelson has played in 63 games this season, averaging 28.5 minutes, 10.9 points, 5.7 assists and 2.1 turnovers. His return will relegate Carlos Arroyo to the bench again. In the two games without Nelson, Arroyo played well in a victory against the Milwaukee Bucks (13 points, 9 assists, 2 steals), but he played poorly in the loss Tuesday against New Orleans (0-for-5 shooting, 4 assists, 2 turnovers). It appears safe to get Nelson back in your Fantasy lineup and hope he is OK following his latest concussion. Keep Arroyo on the bench in all scoring formats.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson missed his second straight game with a bruised jaw Tuesday against the Hornets. He remains day to day.
Analysis: Nelson sustained a concussion earlier this season -- the second diagnosed concussion of his Magic career. If he can get back in time to make a contribution this season, his 11 points and six assists per game make him a low-end No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: The Orlando Magic kept point guard Jameer Nelson out on Friday night at Milwaukee. Nelson, who has a history of concussions, said it appears the team is taking a precaution after he was struck on the chin by an inadvertent forearm from teammate Dwight Howard in Tuesday night's loss to the Spurs. Nelson was not allowed by team doctors to return after taking the first-quarter hit and said he later felt dizzy and nauseous -- typical concussion-like symptoms.
Analysis: Nelson also was held out of Thursday's practice. Nelson sustained a concussion earlier this season -- the second diagnosed concussion of his Magic career. Nelson should be OK for the stretch run of the season. When healthy, consider Nelson a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: The Orlando Magic are expected to hold out point guard Jameer Nelson on Friday night at Milwaukee, reports the Orlando Sentinel. He also was held out of Thursday's practice. Nelson sustained a concussion earlier this season -- the second diagnosed concussion of his Magic career. Carlos Arroyo would replace Nelson in the starting lineup.
Analysis: It appears Nelson will be out this game, but he should be OK for the stretch run of the season. When healthy, consider Nelson a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson got knocked out of the game with a bruised jaw Tuesday against the Spurs after apparently running into C Dwight Howard. He finished with two points in seven minutes. Carlos Arroyo and Keyon Dooling split his minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Nelson had scored in double figures in each of the last three games. He's had an up-and-down season, but his average of 11 points and six assists per game makes him worth starting in Fantasy more often than not. Obviously, reserve him until we know more about this injury.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson had 12 points and nine assists Wednesday against Washington, giving him four straight games with at least seven assists.
Analysis: Nelson averages just under six assists per game, but has been able to pick up nine in two out of his last three games. He remains a useful No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson went 2-of-12 from the field to finish with six points, seven assists and two rebounds. He also hit one shot from the foul line.
Analysis: Nelson is not known for his offense, but this was a poor game by his standards. Look for him to bounce back, and he should still be considered a No. 3 Fantasy guard at this time.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson, who missed Sunday's practice with a foot injury, was able to start Monday against the Hawks. He had 13 points and four assists in 24 minutes.
Analysis: Nelson usually plays more than 24 minutes, but he rarely produces numbers much higher than he did Monday. Consider him no more than a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News:Jameer Nelson is questionable for Monday's game vs. Atlanta after missing Sunday's practice with a foot injury, according to the Orlando Sentinel. He is considered day to day.
Analysis: Nelson has battled the foot injury for the majority of his NBA career, so this is a troubling way to start the scoring period. Fantasy owners will at least have enough time to make a decision as to whether they want to start the mediocre Fantasy guard at less than 100 percent.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson went for nine points, 10 assists and one rebound Wednesday at Washington. The assist total was the most for Nelson since handing out 11 dimes Dec. 3 at Golden State.
Analysis: Nelson has been inconsistent this season, but when he plays like this he's a capable Fantasy option. For now, Nelson should only be started in deep Fantasy formats unless he's able to string together more outings like this.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson returned to the lineup Tuesday against the Raptors after missing one game with a hamstring injury and the flu. He scored 13 points, added six rebounds and dished out four assists in 28 minutes. It was the first time in four games Nelson scored in double figures.
Analysis: Nelson was struggling for the few games leading up to his layoff, so perhaps he just needed some rest. Nelson always seems to be injured, whether it is minor or not. He is a starting point guard, but is a No. 3 Fantasy option at best.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson, who strained his hamstring Wednesday against the 76ers and later came down with the flu, didn't play Saturday against the Knicks.
Analysis: Nelson had a streak of seven straight games with double-digit points before beginning a streak of three straight without. When healthy, he remains a No. 4 Fantasy guard, averaging 11.1 points and 5.6 assists per game.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson scored under 10 points for the second straight game Tuesday at New Jersey. He finished with four on 2-of-5 shooting. He also had one rebound and five assists.
Analysis: Nelson's streak of seven straight games with double-digit points came to an end with his last game, and we suspect he'll get back on track soon. He remains a No. 3 Fantasy guard, averaging 11.1 points and 5.6 assists per game.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson had only six points Sunday against the Kings, shooting 1-for-11 from the field. He did, however, contribute seven assists -- his most in six games.
Analysis: Nelson's streak of seven straight games with double-digit points came to an end, but he found another way to contribute. He remains a No. 3 Fantasy guard, averaging 11.2 points and 5.6 assists per game.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson scored 13 points as he went 5 of 10 from the field and 1 of 2 from the free-throw line Wednesday against the Raptors. Nelson also had four assists and two rebounds. In the two games after the All-Star break, he is averaging 11.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists.
Analysis: Nelson has been pretty much on his season average after the All-Star break, except he is averaging two fewer assists per game. Nothing to be alarmed about yet. He seems over the injury bug at the current moment and can be used as a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson had 13 points with 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals in Wednesday's win over Denver. He shot 6-for-15 from the field.
Analysis: Nelson had a very up-and-down first half, but he appears to be past his positional battle with Carlos Arroyo and his status as the starter makes him useful in most Fantasy leagues. He's good for double-digits on most nights and can chip in with decent rebounds and assists.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson, who had struggled with a foot injury recently, made his second straight start Monday against the Cavaliers, contributing 22 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Analysis: Nelson had 17 points and nine assists last time out. He appears to have supplanted Carlos Arroyo once and for all at point guard, so get him active as a No. 3 option in Fantasy.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson, who had struggled with a foot injury recently, returned to the starting lineup Friday against the Lakers. He had 17 points and nine assists in 38 minutes of play.
Analysis: Nelson won back some favor with his 11-point, eight-assist performance off the bench last time out. He appears to have settled back into the starting role and should start as a No. 3 guard in Fantasy.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson did not start, but was back in the rotation Wednesday against the Nets after sitting two games. He had missed five games with a right foot injury before that, but scored only four points in two games since. He scored 11 points off the bench Wednesday to go along with eight assists and five rebounds.
Analysis: Nelson really needed to show the coaching staff a thing or two Wednesday and did just that. It might only be a matter of time before he returns to the starting lineup. He can produce like a No. 3 Fantasy guard when at 100 percent.
News:The Sports Xchange reports Magic PG Carlos Arroyo started his ninth consecutive game at point guard Monday against the Mavs, but a bad loss at home to Dallas could prompt coach Stan Van Gundy to go back to Jameer Nelson as the starter. Arroyo has not played especially well, but the Magic had won seven of eight with him as the starter.
Analysis: The Magic's point-guard situation continues to be unsettled. Nelson, formerly the starter, didn't play for the second consecutive game Monday. Arroyo took over the starting role nine games ago when Nelson left with an injury, but his grip on the starting job looks tenuous. We don't forsee the Magic keeping a talent like Nelson on the bench for long. Hold onto him and hope for the best. He can produce like a No. 3 Fantasy guard when active.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson played for the first time in six games Wednesday against the Heat since straining his right foot earlier in January. He finished with four points and three assists in 13 minutes. Nelson, who also had three rebounds, got all his points off free throws as he missed the only two shots he took.
Analysis: Nelson didn't start for the Magic against the Heat. "He's done one day of basketball in the last two weeks. ... But he looks healthy," Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. The Magic might take it easy on Nelson in the next couple of games before unleashing him. Nelson isn't half bad of a basketball player and can dish the rock when healthy. He has been limited to 40 games this season. Continue to view Nelson as a No. 3 Fantasy guard when healthy.
News: Starting PG Jameer Nelson said he expects to return from a foot injury Wednesday night when the Magic faces the Miami Heat, but he will come off the bench. Nelson has missed the past five games after straining a tendon in his right foot. He practiced Tuesday and said the final hurdle to his return will come after he sees "how it feels (Wednesday) morning." Nelson said the foot had been bothering him before he reaggravated playing in the Magic's game Jan. 16 in Charlotte, N.C., against the Bobcats, his last appearance. Coach Stan Van Gundy said Nelson would come off the bench until he finds his rhythm and gets his legs back under him. Carlos Arroyo has started in Nelson's place -- and the Magic have gone 4-1 during that span.
Analysis: Nelson will lose some value coming off the bench, but it might not be long until he's back in the starting lineup. For now, consider Nelson a No. 4 Fantasy option.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson (foot) missed Sunday's afternoon game vs. Boston, as expected, and he is considered day-to-day and questionable for Wednesday's game vs. Miami.
Analysis: There is still no indication Nelson will be ready to play Wednesday against Miami. Carlos Arroyo is a decent short-term add, but we think you should avoid the Orlando PG situation all together this week in case Nelson does indeed return at some point.
News: Orlando Magic starting point guard Jameer Nelson will miss his fourth consecutive game tonight because of a strained tendon in his right foot, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Nelson has had both a CT-scan and an MRI on the foot, and said it revealed no structural damage. He is doubtful for the Magic's game Sunday against the Celtics.
Analysis: Nelson said he had hoped to play against the Detroit Pistons, but he is still favoring the foot and did not participate in the club's shootaround Friday. Coach Stan Van Gundy said he did not know when Nelson would be back, but Fantasy owners should reserve him until further notice. Carlos Arroyo will start in his place and is worth a short-term add.
News: The Magic were without G Jameer Nelson for the third straight game Wednesday against the Grizzlies. Nelson has a strained tendon in his right foot and remains questionable for Friday against the Pistons.
Analysis: Here we go again with Nelson. He is out of the lineup with a nagging injury and won't play a full season for the fourth straight campaign. However, he is a solid source of assists when healthy and not a bad scorer either. He remains day to day, but serves as a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson missed his second straight game with a foot sprain Monday against the Pistons. He left Wednesday's game in the third quarter because of the injury.
Analysis: Nelson had reclaimed the starting point guard role in Orlando prior to the injury after losing it briefly to Carlos Arroyo. As long as he holds down the job, he serves as a No. 3 Fantasy guard when healthy.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson missed Saturday's game against the Blazers with a foot sprain. He left Wednesday's game in the third quarter because of the injury.
Analysis: Consider Nelson a risky start for the upcoming scoring period. He had reclaimed the starting point guard role in Orlando prior to the injury after losing it briefly to Carlos Arroyo. As long as he holds down the job, he serves as a No. 3 Fantasy guard when healthy.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson may need rest for his nagging foot injury, according to the Orlando Sentinel. He left Wednesday's game in the third quarter and had his right foot in a bucket of ice after the game. The club is calling it a strained tendon.

News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson scored 11 points with eight assists and five rebounds in Friday's loss at Denver. He shot 5-for-13 from the field and also added a steal with just one turnover.
Analysis: Nelson has reclaimed the starting point guard role in Orlando has been productive in back-to-back games with at least 10-8-5 in each game. Activate him in Fantasy once again.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson, who tweaked his ankle in the first half Wednesday but played in the second half anyway, remained in the starting lineup Friday at Denver. He had 11 points, five rebounds and eight assists.
Analysis: After a brief benching, Nelson appears back on track, having contributed 14 points, five rebounds and nine assists in his last game. Keep him active as a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson scored 14 points with nine assists and five rebounds Wednesday at the Clippers. He tweaked his ankle in the first half of the game, but was able to return and play during the second half. X-rays taken at the arena were negative.
Analysis: Nelson was back in the starting lineup and looked good for the most part. Thankfully, it doesn't appear this ankle sprain will keep him out of the lineup to halt his momentum.
News: Magic guard Jameer Nelson had six points, seven assists and five rebounds Tuesday at Sacramento. He played 32 minutes and again came off the bench.
Analysis: Nelson's Fantasy value is limited since he's been moved to the bench. For now, consider Nelson a low-end Fantasy guard.
News: The Magic's backcourt rotation likely will continue to evolve on this week's upcoming Western swing. PG Carlos Arroyo and SG Keyon Dooling were the starters in Friday's loss to the Rockets, but more changes are expected to follow. A slow start by the Magic (22-13) at Amway Arena on Friday didn't help the cause of the latest backcourt, which means that Jameer Nelson and Keith Bogans might be starting again before long. "I don't know what we're going to do. We're in flux," said Coach Stan Van Gundy after Sunday's practice.
Analysis: Nelson has the most Fantasy value of the bunch, though his struggles to score points likely cost him his job in the first place. He still has the ability to accumulate a decent number of assists, so treat him as a No. 3 Fantasy guard if he returns to the starting lineup.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson led the team with 22 points in Monday's overtime win at Chicago, playing 32 minutes off the bench. He added four rebounds and four assists.
Analysis: Nelson was struggling mightily of late and he was dealing with a strained back on top of that. He was the go-to guy in the fourth quarter and overtime Monday, though, and this could either mean the team looks to him in a sixth man role or he'll return to the starting lineup. Either way, he'll be seeing enough minutes to remain a valuable Fantasy guard.
News: Struggling Magic PG Jameer Nelson missed Saturday's game against the Bobcats with a strained back. The team considers him day to day. Carlos Arroyo took his place in the lineup and had 16 points, four rebounds and six assists.
Analysis: Considering coach Stan Van Gundy had recently discussed benching Nelson, his injury comes at a bad time. His scoring has dropped off the map lately, with no more than six points in any of his last four games. Still, he averages 6.1 assists per game, and that alone makes him worth starting as no less than a No. 4 guard in Fantasy. Reserve him for now, obviously.
News: Magic Coach Stan Van Gundy said before Wednesday's game that struggling point guard Jameer Nelson needs to quickly improve his play or he'll have no choice but to bench him, according to the Orlando Sentinel "He simply has not played to that level in the last three weeks and that's a concern right now," Van Gundy said. "And you want to stick with guys as long as you can because players sometimes. ... their performances go up and down, but he has to get it going pretty quickly."
Analysis: Nelson is clearly no longer locked in as the team's starting point guard, but this could be more of a ploy to light a fire under him than it is an actual threat. Be that as it may, Fantasy owners should consider looking for alternatives for low-end starting guards now.
News: For the second consecutive game, Magic PG Jameer Nelson scored four points in Sunday's loss at Boston. He shot just 1-for-3 from the field. He's 3-for-10 over his last two games.
Analysis: Nelson is locked in as the Magic's starting point guard. He's going to give Fantasy owners around 10 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds per night when he's going well, but now is not one of those times.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson had 18 points and eight assists Saturday against the Grizzlies. He has scored double-digit points in each of his last two games after scoring 10 total in his previous two games.
Analysis: Nelson's biggest development this season has come in the assists department, where he averages 6.2 per game. Scoring aside, that number makes him worth starting as a No. 3 PG in Fantasy.
News: After scoring 33 points in his previous two games, Magic PG Jameer Nelson scored only six in Monday night's loss to the Hawks in 27 minutes.
Analysis: Nelson loses minutes to Keyon Dooling occasionally, but Dooling isn't playing well enough to unseat Nelson from his starting job in Orlando. However, Nelson has scored in single digits in six of his last eight games and that sort of output won't cut it with Stan Van Gundy for long. He is still starting in 64 percent of leagues at the moment, which is generous for a low-end No. 3 Fantasy PG at best.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson had 18 points with six assists in Sunday's win over Boston. He added five rebounds, a steal and a block.
Analysis: Nelson has scored at least 15 points in three straight games and he seems to be getting into a groove for the first time this season. He's averaging 13.6 ppg, 6.6 apg and 4.3 rpg this season and is worth starting as a No. 3 guard in any league or format at this point.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson had his best game of the season Friday at the Knicks, scoring 24 points with 10 assists, three rebounds and three steals. He shot 7-for-11 from the field.

News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson returned to the starting lineup Wednesday against the Raptors after sitting out the game Tuesday in Minnesota with a slight concussion, the result of an inadvertent elbow to the head during practice on Monday. He was cleared to play Wednesday night after riding an exercise bike during the morning shootaround, and said he felt no ill-effects. "The doctors did a good job getting me ready to play and being cautious," Nelson said. "I appreciate those guys being cautious and just allowing me to get back to being healthy."
Analysis: Nelson played 30 minutes Wednesday, finishing with 10 points, six rebounds and seven assists. Nelson came into the game averaging 11.3 points and 5.0 assists. He is a solid No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy guard when healthy. It appears safe to activate him in Fantasy formats.
News: The Magic scratched PG Jameer Nelson from their game Tuesday against Minnesota after he sustained what the team called a "slight concussion" in practice. Nelson was hit in the head by an errant elbow during practice on Monday in Washington and still had some headaches on Tuesday, so coach Stan Van Gundy decided to give him the night off. Carlos Arroyo started in his place.
Analysis: Nelson is averaging 11.3 points and 5.0 assists this season and is listed as day to day. We don't expect this injury to carry over into Fantasy Week 3, so keep him active as a No. 3 guard in all weekly formats.

News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson scored 13 points with four assists in Saturday's preseason win over the Cavaliers in Macau, China.
Analysis: Already banged up in the preseason, the Magic used just four players off the bench Saturday. That forced regulars like Nelson to play longer than they would in a normal preseason game. Nelson is a capable PG and should average somewhere around the 13 points he did in 2006 again this season. Draft Nelson as a No. 3 guard in most Fantasy formats.
News: Magic G Jameer Nelson scored 24 points in Orlando's 90-86 exhibition win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Shanghai, China on Wednesday.
Analysis: Nelson is a capable PG and should average somewhere around the 13 points he did in 2006 again this season. Draft Nelson as a No. 3 guard in most Fantasy formats.
News: Magic PG Jameer Nelson came off the bench in preseason action Friday against the Heat, scoring four points and dishing two assists in 17 minutes of play. Carlos Arroyo started and had 10 points and seven assists.
Analysis: Arroyo clearly backs up Nelson, and the Magic merely shifted their lineup for this game to allow their point guard some rest. Draft Nelson as a No. 3 guard in most Fantasy formats and Arroyo in only the deepest of leagues.

News: According to the Orlando Sentinel, it's not a slam dunk the Magic will give point guard Jameer Nelson a contract extension this offseason. "We start talking about extensions like they're a given," General Manager Otis Smith told the Sentinel. "Jameer has to understand that we expect more out of him."
Analysis: Nelson is not a traditional starting point guard. He is small at 5-foot-10 and is averaging 13.3 points, 4.1 assists and 3.0 rebounds. He tends to get lost at times, but he's also capable of good outings. He had 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists Monday against Charlotte. For now, consider him a No. 3 Fantasy guard and expect an interesting offseason.

Analysis: The All-Star break will give Nelson plenty of time to rest and be ready for the next Fantasy scoring period. There is no need to bench him in Fantasy leagues. He remains a decent No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: Dwight Howard leaped high to dunk a long inbounds lob from Hedo Turkoglu with 0.2 seconds left, giving the Orlando Magic a 106-104 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night. Howard had 30 points and Jameer Nelson scored a season-high 31 for the Magic, who rallied from an 18-point deficit to stop a three-game losing streak. "I felt it -- it's gone into the hamstring, too -- and I said to our assistant trainer, 'I'm sore. Something's going on.'" Carlos Arroyo would get the start at the point with Travis Diener backing him up. Arroyo is a solid reserve guard in Fantasy play, while Diener doesn't do enough in Fantasy.

Analysis: Nelson missed a big chunk of the season with a foot injury last season, but was still able to establish himself as the future of the franchise at the guard position. Consider him a nice option as a No. 3 guard in any league. Redick will be a nice option in Rotisserie formats for help in the 3-point categories, but his value is yet to be determined in head-to-head formats. Take him in the late rounds in those leagues. As for Turkoglu, he should be able to put up numbers similar to last year's, making him someone to target as a low-end starter in leagues of 12-plus teams or as a nice reserve.
News: Jameer Nelson and Dwight Howard knocked heads during the Orlando Magic's scrimmage Friday, sending Nelson sprawling to the court with blood pouring from his head. Both players left the court holding towels over their faces, and both needed stitches.

The Magic already were missing guard J.J. Redick (left foot) and Tony Battie (right knee). Neither player is expected to miss any time.
News: For a third-year player, Orlando Magic guard Jameer Nelson is starting to look a lot like a seasoned team captain. On his own this summer, Nelson arranged for his teammates to meet for a week in Philadelphia. Minus Dwight Howard, who was playing with the U.S. national team, and a few others, the new squad hung out, went bowling and even played paintball, Nelson said Monday before the Magic were to begin training camp. "One day I was just working out, and I was like, 'You know, I should make my team a commitment as I try to become a leader and bring these guys up.' Because obviously, if you're better off the court you're going to be better on the court," he said. "It was a good week. It was almost like we were kids again, and that's what you want. You don't want this to be strictly business and not to have fun for what we do."

He's a solid starting guard in all formats -- especially ones that reward assists heavily.

The franchise is building around Howard, who is averaging 15 points and 12 rebounds this season and has started all but one game since joining the NBA. The 20-year-old also averaged a double-double his rookie year, joining Emeka Okafor as the first rookies to accomplish that feat since 1992-93. Nelson, picked 20th overall in the 2004 draft by Denver and dealt the same night to Orlando, is averaging nearly 11 points and four assists in 23 minutes per game. He excelled at times while Steve Francis struggled before being dealt to New York, and is shooting a team-best 42 percent from 3-point range.

News: Jameer Nelson is out of the walking boot that he was wearing with his injured right foot, and he could be back in the lineup within 10 days, according to the Magic. Nelson has been out for a month with a sore foot, and has seen several foot specialists to try and solve the problem. This comes after Jameer Nelson told the Orlando Sentinel Tuesday he officially has been diagnosed with cartilage damage in his right foot and will be out three weeks. Nelson said he saw two specialists over the all-star break, one in Houston and the other in Charlotte, N.C. "Both of them said the same thing ... damaged cartilage," Nelson said. "I'm doing everything I'm supposed to as far as treatment. I definitely want to play, but I'm not going to do anything stupid."
Analysis: Nelson was playing his best basketball when he sustained the injury. He had moved into the starting lineup at point guard and was averaging 17.7 points and 6.4 assists in nine starts. There is little Fantasy owners can do other than wait until he returns.

The Houston Rockets -- Francis' former team -- have picked up interest in the past few days to make a 'dramatic move' with the Magic.
Analysis: The Magic seem to be ready to hand the reigns over to Jameer Nelson (foot) once he is able to return in three weeks. Nelson, a late first-round choice in the 2004 draft, was playing his best basketball when he sustained the injury. He had moved into the starting lineup at point guard and was averaging 17.7 points and 6.4 assists in nine starts.
News: According to the Orlando Sentinel, the Magic don't expect injured PG Jameer Nelson to return for at least three weeks, according to Assistant General Manager Otis Smith.
