It was the third time Okafor has posted a double-double over the past four games, which represents his total for the season. He drilled 5 of his 11 attempts from the field in 36 minutes of playing time to bounce back from a two-point performance in his last game against Orlando on Friday. "I just turned around, and the ball was in my hands," Okafor said. "It seemed like perfect timing a lot of times. It didn't start off that way. Actually, at the beginning, I couldn't grab one at all, but as the game went on, I found my flow."
Analysis: Okafor has been surging on the glass for the Wizards recently and posted double-digits in rebounds over his past four games. He is averaging 13.2 boards per game during that stretch to keep a spot in the starting lineup even with Nene being added to the starting five. Okafor scoring is still sporadic -- 7.8 ppg this month -- but he could be a useful Fantasy option in category-bases formats for his rebounding on his sizzling run.

Analysis: Okafor has recorded double figures in rebounds in two of his last three games but he had just two in the other one. That has been his problem all year. He's too big not to average double figures in boards and yet he's at 5.5 per game on the year. That comes with 1.2 blocks and minimal scoring. More points or rebounds would be the only things that will make him a better Fantasy option going forward.
News: Wizards center Emeka Okafor is excited to be facing his former team, the New Orleans Hornets, on Tuesday in New Orleans. The only weird part is going into the opposite locker room for the first time, Okafor said about his return to New Orleans. Actually its still weird when I go to Charlotte and go to the opposite locker room. It feels a little different because its just a routine you used to have. Okafor only played 11 minutes on Saturday against Golden State. He scored two points and had no rebounds in that game, but coach Randy Wittman said he hasn't lost confidence in the big man. I havent lost any confidence or faith in Emeka, Wittman said. Hes got to continue to rebound. He didnt have rebound in 12 minutes [against the Warriors].
Analysis: Okafor is averaging 5.5 rebounds per game on the season for the Wizards but has just 4.4 per game over his last five contests. He's seeing less time on the court of late and that is likely due to his not getting big on the boards. Okafor blocks shots at a pretty high level, but he's otherwise just a low-end Fantasy option in most formats.

Okafor, who continues to earn starts at center, logged just 13 minutes in the 105-101 victory. In fact, Okafor has failed to log 20 minutes in each of his last two games and has been a fixture on the bench in the fourth quarter most nights. While he is still averaging 7.6 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks on a nightly basis, owners may want to think about sitting him down until he gets his minutes and production back up.

News: Washington center Emeka Okafor was only afforded 11 minutes in Wednesday's overtime loss at Boston. Okafor swatted two shots and scored two points in the game on 1 of 2 shooting from the field. Okafor grabbed just one rebound.

News: Washington center Emeka Okafor hit a couple shots early in the season debut Tuesday at Cleveland. Okafor got cold after that, however, as he finished just 4 of 10 from the field to score 10 points over 25 minutes. Okafor led all starters for the Wizards in scoring and also had a game-high four blocked shots. He grabbed seven rebounds and five of them came on the offensive end.
Analysis: The Washington starting center was certainly active with his seven rebounds and four blocks. His 10 points gives him a nice night all around but owners would like to see him use that big body to get better shots off as he went just 4 of 10 from the floor. Still, his situation in Washington should see him getting plenty of minutes, especially while Nene and Kevin Seraphin deal with injuries. Until the minutes cease, Okafor is worth using in deeper formats at a very thin position in Fantasy.

That said, he's begun rebounding and blocking shots with more authority as he tries to put his knee issues behind him. As the projected starter for the Wizards, Okafor could see plenty of minutes early and be useful in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: CBSSports.com NBA Insider Ken Berger confirms a report by the website Draft Express that the Hornets have agreed to trade Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza to the Wizards for Rashard Lewis and the 46th pick in the NBA Draft.
Analysis: Okafor has the chance to start for the Wizards and play alongside Nene. Even if he starts or comes off the bench, his best days appear to be behind him. His best asset is his shot-blocking and rebounding, and he should only be viewed as a No. 2 Fantasy center in most formats.
News: The Hornets plan to keep a close eye on center Emeka Okafors progress during the summer before making a decision on what they will do with the veteran, who missed 39 games in 2011-12 with a left knee injury and has two years left on his contract. According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the team could use their amnesty clause provision on him, after younger big men like Gustavo Ayon and Jason Smith showed potential this season.
Analysis: Okafor missed most of the final three months of the season with the knee injury, which never received an official diagnosis. He underwent a number of tests, but all the team ever said publicly is that he was sore. The team says he will work out with some of their younger players to test the strength of the knee before they decide how they will proceed. Okafors numbers dropped to their lowest level this season, as he averaged a career low 9.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game in 27 contests, and it will be interesting to see what happens with him this summer, as he turns 30 before the start of next season. Despite the uncertainty surrounding him, he should still be considered a No. 2 Fantasy center next season, worth targeting with a late middle round selection on Draft Day.
News: With just five games left on the schedule, the New Orleans Times-Picayune is reporting that the team does not expect center Emeka Okafor to return for the remainder of the season, as he continues to deal with a knee injury. He finishes the year with averages of 9.9 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.0 blocks, all career lows, in 27 games.
Analysis: Okafor is under contract for two more seasons at more than $28 million total, so it is almost assured that he will be back in New Orleans. With 10 months between his last game and the start of next season, he should be able to get back to full health, so Fantasy owners should probably view him as a late-round Fantasy option with considerable upside on Draft Day.

Okafor has been out since Feb. 10 and is not close to returning. The Hornets have not diagnosed the exact issue Okafor is dealing with as of yet.
Analysis: Fantasy owners should keep Okafor reserved in all leagues until he comes back and proves his knee is 100 percent healthy. Okafor has missed 10 games, including Saturday nights, since his injury. He hasn't taken the court since Feb. 10 and Williams said he had "no idea" when asked when Okafor would return.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in all formats should reserve Okafor heading in Week 11 (March 5-11), as it doesn't look good for him playing any time soon. When he's healthy, Okafor is a quality No. 2 center option. With the trade deadline two weeks away, the Hornets may be waiting to see what offers they are getting for Okafor and Chris Kaman, who is playing at a high level right now. Continue to monitor his status.

Okafor had been on a nice run prior to the injury and scored in double figures in three straight games, including a season-high 19 points against Sacramento on Feb. 6. Fantasy owners should keep Okafor reserved until some positive news pops up. When healthy, Okafor is a nice No. 2 center option in most Fantasy formats.

News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor might only be averaging a career-low 9.7 points per game, but he sits in the top 10 in the NBA in field-goal percentage (53.6). My goal this year has just been being very specific. Trying to be as precise, take as precise game-type shots as possible," Okafor told The Times-Picayune. I did a lot of work in the offseason, kind of practicing my all-around game, and then once the season came around, just starting to hone that in within the confines of what I was getting, what would be presented to me, as well as continuing to develop other parts of my game. Coach Monty Williams praises Okafor for his fearlessness on offense. Hes not afraid to take that 10-foot, 15-foot jump shot, Williams said. The one thing I dont want him to do is (be) relying on that. I thought lately hes been doing a little bit too much of that instead of driving to the basket to finish. He missed some layups (against Detroit) that were not Emeka-like. For him to be the kind of player he wants to be, he has to know the right balances of taking that shot or getting to the basket. He has certainly improved his shot a little bit.
Analysis: Okafor scored 19 points on Monday against the Kings and that was even with the return of Chris Kaman, who was taken off the trading block. We expect Kaman could cut into some of Okafor's production, but Okafor will continue to log heavy minutes and be a factor in the frontcourt for New Orleans. He just remains more of a No. 2 Fantasy center.
News: New Orleans C Emeka Okafor had a fairly solid performance on Monday night during a loss to the Sacramento Kings. Okafor shot just 6 of 14 from the field, but did score 19 points to finish second on the team behind Greivis Vasquez. Okafor went 7 for 7 from the line and grabbed seven rebounds with a steal in the performance.
Analysis: Okafor quizzically has gone just 10 for 24 over his last two games despite shooting 54 percent from the field for the season. Plus, he's only grabbing 5.4 boards per game over his last five with 11.8 points. He scored well on Monday, but is not consistent enough for everyday usage in 10 and 12-team Fantasy leagues. Still, he does have plenty of value in deeper formats.
News: After scoring in single digits his last two times out, Hornets C Emeka Okafor was able to get back on track on Sunday against the Hawks. He finished with a team-high 13 points and eight rebounds in the 94-72 loss. He went 6 for 10 from the floor and made 1 of 3 free throws while playing 31 minutes. Okafor also chipped in with two assists and two steals in the defeat.
Analysis: Okafor is having a down campaign for the Hornets and is definitely missing the presence of Chris Paul. Both his scoring and rebounding have been off thus far, but he is averaging 11.2 points with 9.4 rebounds in his last five contests so hopefully he is on the verge of turning things around. With Chris Kaman likely on his way out of New Orleans, he should continue to see a major role so keep an eye on his progress. With Miami, Phoenix, San Antonio and Detroit on the schedule for Week 6 (Jan. 30-Feb. 5), continue to view Okafor as a low-end Fantasy C in larger formats.
News: New Orleans center Emeka Okafor grabbed a season-high 17 rebounds and tied a season-high 16 points on Saturday night against Dallas. The big man shot 7 for 13 from the floor and converted 2 of his 3 foul shots. Okafor added an assist and a block in his 37 minutes of action. The Hornets would lose to the Mavericks, 83-81.
Analysis: Okafor isn't known for his scoring prowess but went off on Saturday. The Hornets are searching for an identity and Okafor is a part of the future. He's averaging 9.2 points and 10.2 rebounds a game over his last five contests. Fantasy owners should consider Okafor a solid No. 2 center option in the majority of formats.
News: New Orleans C Emeka Okafor notched 12 points and 10 rebounds during the Hornets' 84-77 loss to Portland on Monday. Okafor finished 4 of 5 from the floor and was 4 for 8 at the free-throw line to complete his fourth double-double of the season. It was also his second such effort in his past three games. Okafor, however, was held without a block for the third consecutive game as his season average slipped to 1.4 BPG.
Analysis: While his defensive exploits have slowed recently, his Okafor has been scorching from the field and drained at least 57 percent of his attempts from the field in each of his past five games. It would be a bonus for Fantasy owners if he would shoot the ball more as he is averaging just seven attempts per game this month. For now, consider him a low-end No. 2 Fantasy C in the majority of formats because of the few viable options.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor notched his third double-double of the season on Friday and scored a season-high 16 points while doing it, but the Hornets would end up losing 87-80 to the Timberwolves. Okafor did not have a block for just the third time this season.
Analysis: Okafor has struggled somewhat so far this year, posting career-lows in scoring and rebounging. He is averaging below 10-points per game for the first time in his career, and is at just 7.5 rebounds per game as he has seen his playing time dip below 30-minutes per game. Because of the lack of depth at the center position, Okafor remains a useful Fantasy option, but he should not be anything more than a No. 2 Fantasy center.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor has not gotten off to the best of starts this season and that trend continued on Monday against the Nuggets. He scored just four points and hauled in seven rebounds in the 94-81 win. He went 2 for 3 from the floor while playing 24 minutes. Okafor also had two assists, a steal and a blocked shot in the victory.
Analysis: Okafor is averaging six points with 4.6 rebounds in his last five games and is shooting 41 percent from the floor over that span. He used to be good for a double-double on a nightly basis but he has struggled so far this season, which has hindered his Fantasy value. Keep an eye on his progress going forward but until he picks up the pace, consider Okafor a low-end Fantasy C in larger formats.
News: New Orleans C Emeka Okafor is still starting over Chris Kaman as of Wednesday's game against Philadelphia. That said, Kaman is outplaying Okafor and it is only a matter of time before the two are switched. Okafor shot just 2 of 4 from the field on Wednesday over 27 minutes to score five points. He added seven rebounds and two blocks. Kaman had 10 points and eight boards over 24 minutes.
Analysis: Okafor has combined to score 12 points with 12 rebounds in his last two games. As soon as Kaman joins the starting lineup, Okafor should lose Fantasy value. Okafor doesnt score much, but he does so at a high success rate and provides value in other categories while doing so. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy C in all formats. That said, he could drop in value if Kaman takes over.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor had a strong game in the Hornets 97-78 victory over the Celtics Wednesday night. The Celtics shot just 37.2 percent from the floor, and a large reason for that was Okafors relentless defense in the paint. In just 27 minutes of action, Okafor blocked five shots while grabbing six rebounds and scoring 13 points.
Analysis: Okafor averaged 1.8 blocks per game last year and had four games in which he blocked five shots. It looks like Okafor is going to split time fairly evenly with the newly-acquired Chris Kaman, as they both had 27 minutes in the win. That would be a downgrade for Okafor who averaged 31.8 minutes-per night, so we do expect Okafor to take a small hit in production. Okafor doesnt score much, but he does so at a high success rate and provides value in other categories while doing so. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy C in all formats.
News: New Orleans center Emeka Okafor experienced another good year for the Hornets -- his second with the team. He played in 72 games for the Hornets after not missing a game in his previous three seasons combined. While he played part of the season without his fellow frontcourt mate, David West, who had surgery to repair his torn left ACL back in March. Okafor averaged 10.3 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game last season, which is pretty close to his numbers in his first year in New Orleans. As the Hornets continue to build around Chris Paul and West, Okafor remains another key component. He provides size in the paint and averages a double-double per outing throughout his career.
Analysis: Okafor recorded 23 double-doubles on the season and showed his value on a nightly basis. He's a defensive presence for the Hornets and also gives Fantasy owners someone who makes a high percentage of shots -- 57.3 percent from the field. Okafor's only downfall is when he goes to the charity stripe, where he shot a lowly 56.2 percent on the year. He finished the year as the 21st center-eligible player in terms of scoring in standard CBSSports.com Fantasy formats. That makes him worth using in all leagues that start two centers. Besides anytime a player averages close to a double-double per outing, he holds plenty of value. If he can stay healthy, owners will want to target Okafor in the middle-to-late rounds on Draft Day this fall.
News: After scoring just six points Friday, Hornets center Emeka Okafor outdid the effort in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Pacers. He scored eight points and pulled down eight rebounds in the opening quarter, on the way to a strong game inside. Okafor finished the night 6 of 11 from the floor for 14 points. He was better on the glass, pulling down a season-high 17 rebounds. Okafor added an assist and a block in 34 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Okafor had his highest total double-double (points plus rebounds) Sunday than in any game since mid January. He dominated the paint all night, even scoring efficiently from smooth-passer Chris Paul. Fantasy owners should continue to utilize the workhorse as a mid-range option moving forward. The Connecticut product can put a a double-double on any give night, behind always-solid defense. He also is playing healthy without any visual limitation.
News: Hornets center Emeka Okafor didn't record his third straight double-double in Thursday's game against the Jazz, but he made one of the more memorable shots of his career. With New Orleans down two points with 1.3 seconds left, Aaron Gray heaved the ball three-quarters the length of the court toward Chris Paul but he was undercut by Earl Watson, and the ball bounced out. "I saw Chris jump, saw the ball bounce and said all I have is time for a touch-and-go," Okafor said. "I touched it, squared and looked at the rim, and let it go." The shot fell, and the game went to overtime when the Hornets secured the win. Okafor finished with 12 points on 5 of 8 shooting from the floor. He added six rebounds, three assists and a block in 28 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Okafor somehow got the shot to go falling away from the basket, and he might have ended the Jazz' playoff hopes in the process. The big man has played well of late, scoring in double figures in three straight games, averaging over nine rebounds per contest in the short span. Those kind of numbers are what Fantasy owners have come to expect from the UConn product. He has the ability to put up a double-double every time he's on the floor. Okafor should be considered a mid-rage Fantasy option in the majority of formats, with slight upside in category-based leagues for his all-around play.
News: Hornets center Emeka Okafor's struggles continued in Monday's 114-103 loss to the Hornets. Okafor finished with just six points in the contest on 3 of 4 shooting from the field. He also grabbed seven rebounds in the defeat to go along with two steals and a block while logging 28 minutes. Okafor is averaging just 6.6 points and 6.5 rebounds through eight games in March.
Analysis: Okafor has clearly not been the same player he was before sustaining a strained oblique muscle that cost him 10 games back in February. He is averaging just 6.9 points and 6.6 rebounds in the 10 games since he returned, and hasn't been as active on the court as he was prior to getting injured. The team has not announced he is suffering from any injuries at the moment, but with his recent lack of production, many owners are wondering if he is really fully recovered from that oblique strain. With the playoffs fast approaching in most formats, Okafor may best be left on the bench until he gets himself back on track.
News: New Orleans center Emeka Okafor returned to the lineup and notched 10 points and seven rebounds in the Hornets' 95-81 victory at Minnesota on Friday night. Okafor, who missed the team's last 10 games with a strained oblique muscle, connected on just 4 of 10 from the field and made both free-throw attempts. His outing snapped a four-game stretch with at least five fields goals. "It was a team effort," Okafor said. "Everybody was just in the flow. Me personally, it was good to get out there and stretch my legs a little bit, get back in game shape."
Analysis: Okafor displayed a little rust as he was played in his first game since Jan. 30. It was the third time in his last four games played that Okafor has pulled down exactly seven rebounds as he continues his strong season on the glass (10.1 rpg). "He's the kind of guy you don't appreciate until he's not there," Hornets coach Monty Williams said. "Now that he's back, I know Chris (Paul) and all the guys understand his value." Okafor logged 25 minutes Friday as New Orleans was without leading scorer David West (personal reasons). Consider Okafor a strong option in all Fantasy formats as long as he's healthy.
News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports Friday that after missing 10 consecutive games with a strained oblique muscle, Hornets starting center Emeka Okafor will start Friday night against the Timberwolves. "Hes playing, Hornets coach Monty Williams said after the teams shootaround Friday morning. We need him out there, especially tonight. Hes been looking good in practice and I just think its about time.
Analysis: It's a good sign that Okafor is back for this game against Minnesota, and hopefully he doesn't suffer a setback with his injury. When healthy, Okafor is a quality Fantasy option in all leagues. Owners in daily leagues should use caution when setting their lineups, but we expect Okafor to be fine for Fantasy Week 19, when the Hornets have four games.
News: New Orleans starting center Emeka Okafor missed Wednesday night's game against the Clippers while continuing to be bothered by a strained left oblique muscle. Okafor has been sidelined by the injury for 10 consecutive games. He was hoping to return to action following the All-Star break and has practiced this week, but Hornets coach Monty Williams says he's not yet ready to return. Jason Smith will start in his place.
Analysis: Okafor, who has averaged 11.1 points and 10.1 rebounds in 49 games this season, remains day-to-day and could return when New Orleans plays at Minnesota on Friday night. Williams said in a perfect world that Okafor would play against the Timberwolves. Fantasy owners in daily leagues should continue to monitor his progress since he will likely be slowed when he does return to game action. When healthy, he should be considered a must-start in all Fantasy formats.
News: The Hornets official team website reports that center Emeka Okafor remains uncertain Wednesday morning whether he can play Wednesday night against the Clippers due to his oblique injury. Okafor participated in a full practice for the first time in over three weeks on Tuesday, but he is not 100 percent. Hes missed nine games with a left oblique strain. Were going to have to play tonight by ear, Okafor said. Im taking the proper steps to make sure that I can do everything (and have) full range of motion. Its not going to be 100 percent pain-free. Im just trying to get it to a point where its safe to go.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues should use caution with Okafor since even if he does return he will not be at 100 percent. Hopefully he can return soon and be pain free because when healthy he is a solid Fantasy option in all scoring formats.
News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Emeka Okafor (oblique) was able to practice on Monday night. Coach Monty Williams said the team will re-evaluate Okafor prior to making a decision for Wednesday's game against the Clippers.
Analysis: Okafor is officially listed as day-to-day and questionable. The Hornets are slated for three games in Fantasy Week 18 (Feb. 22-27) and he remains an injury risk, though it does appear likely he will play fairly soon. He is worth taking a gamble on given his ability to put up double-doubles on a nightly basis, but he will be just that -- a gamble -- this week.
News: NBA.com reports Tuesday that Hornets coach Monty Williams is hopeful that center Emeka Okafor will be able to return in the first game back after the All-Star break. Okafor, out with a left oblique strain, should be ready by Feb. 23 against the Clippers. Wed like to think so," Williams said. "Thats the prayer. We need him back. You really dont understand how important a guy like that is until you dont have him.
Analysis: The center from UConn has taken a little longer than expected to heal up from his injury but it seems he's closing in on a return. He'll use the All-Star break to get healthy and might return against the Clippers in the first game back. That will be welcome to all Fantasy owners who have missed his double-double per game average. When healthy, Okafor is a solid play in all Fantasy leagues.
News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Hornets C Emeka Okafor (oblique) did not practice on Tuesday and is not expected to play on Wednesday at New Jersey. Coach Monty Williams said Monday that he is "probably a ways off" from being able to return.
Analysis: Okafor looks to be likely out until at least late February at this stage. The initial timetable for Okafor was 1-3 weeks on Feb. 1. Okafor will have to continue to be monitored in Fantasy leagues, but you should have alternatives prepared for at least the short term. When healthy, Okafor has been a reliable No. 1 Fantasy center.
News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Hornets C Emeka Okafor (side) is listed as day to day by the team, but coach Monty Williams said Monday that he is "probably a ways off" from being able to return.
Analysis: Okafor is likely out until at least late February at this stage. The initial timetable for Okafor was 1-3 weeks on Feb. 1. Okafor will have to continue to be monitored in Fantasy leagues, but you should have alternatives prepared for at least the next couple of scoring periods. When healthy, Okafor has been a reliable No. 1 Fantasy center.
News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Hornets C Emeka Okafor (side) admitted Tuesday he likely won't return until after the All-Star break. Were still trying to figure out what the best course of action is, said Okafor. If an injury were to occur, this is the time for it to happen. Ill have a week or so where we wont be playing, so it will be a week less games I could miss.
Analysis: The initial timetable for Okafor was 1-3 weeks, but it's clear his absence is likely to be on the higher end of that scale. When healthy, Okafor is a solid source for rebounds and blocks and can be considered a solid start in all Fantasy leagues, but his owners will likely have to look elsewhere for the next couple of weeks unless Okafor turns out to be a very quick healer.
News: The Hornets announced Tuesday that C Emeka Okafor will miss 1-3 weeks with an oblique strain.
Analysis: Tuesday marked the first time Okafor missed a game since the 2006-07 campaign, ending his consecutive games streak at 306 games. When healthy, Okafor is a solid source for rebounds and blocks and can be considered a solid start in all Fantasy leagues, but his owners will likely have to look elsewhere for Fantasy Week 16 (Feb. 7-13) unless Okafor is a very quick healer.
News: Hornets center Emeka Okafor, who suffered a strained left oblique in Sunday's contest against the Suns, has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Wizards, reports the New Orleans-Times Picayune.. Okafor strained the muscle and left the court with 1:59 remaining in the first half of the 104-102 loss at Phoenix. He is averaging 11.1 points and 10.1 rebounds in 49 games this season. The Hornets have not announced a lineup replacement for Okafor, but it's likely they'll start Jason Smith and bring in David Andersen and D.J. Mbenga off the bench.
Analysis: Tuesday will mark the first time Okafor will miss a game since the 2006-07 campaign, ending his consecutive games streak at 306 games. While his injury is not considered serious, there has been no timetable announced for his return, so Fantasy owners will have to keep tabs on his status moving forward. When healthy, Okafor is a solid source for rebounds and blocks and can be considered a solid start in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor suffered a muscle strain just before halftime of Sunday's game against the Suns and did not return. He was doubled over in pain after losing the ball out of bounds with close to two minutes left in the second quarter, and appeared to be holding his left hip. Okafor, who left the game with seven rebounds, all offensive, scored 10 points on 5 of 11 shooting in the 104-102 loss. He also had a blocked shot.
Analysis: Okafor still put up decent numbers before leaving with the injury on Sunday and is averaging 11.6 points with 7.8 rebounds and three blocks over his last five contests. He is usually very durable and has not missed a game since the 2006-07 campaign so hopefully he will not be out for long. Fantasy owners should keep tabs on his status over the next few days to see if he will be able to play Tuesday against the Wizards. When healthy, Okafor is a solid source for rebounds and blocks and should be considered a solid start in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor has been incredibly consistent at notching double-doubles. Although he failed to reach the feat on Monday against the Thunder, he still managed 11 points and nine boards and added four blocks. Over his last five games, Okafor is averaging 10.4 points, 12 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per night.
Analysis: The former UConn standout center has blossomed into a full-blown Fantasy star. Averaging a double-double per game on the year, Fantasy owners want to have Okafor active at all times.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor put together another double-double in Monday's game against Toronto, his fourth in a row. He scored 17 points to go with a season-high 16 rebounds and a block. He tied a Hornets franchise record with 12 offensive boards. He is averaging 14.2 points and 13.4 rebounds over his last five games.
Analysis: Okafor is just about a lock for a double-double each time out. He isn't asked to do a lot offensively, but does have 17 or more points in three of four games and is the beneficiary of a lot of easy finishes from Chris Paul. Okafor is a must-start across the board.
News: Hornets center Emeka Okafor remains a consistent presence on the glass for New Orleans. Okafor scored 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in Wednesday's 92-89 win over Orlando. He shot 8 for 11 from the field, but went 2 for 8 from the charity stripe.
Analysis: Okafor had to deal with Dwight Howard on Wednesday, but still managed to have a solid outing. Over his last five games, Okafor has two double-doubles, but four double digit efforts on the glass. He's averaging 11.8 points and 11.6 rebounds over that span. Okafor is shooting a stellar 60 percent from the field, but can't find the mark from the foul line. He's shooting 45.8 percent at the charity stripe, which is where Okafor can hurt Fantasy owners. Continue to use Okafor in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Hornets center Emeka Okafor recorded his third double-double over his last five games on Friday night. He missed hitting that mark his last two outings, but got back on track against the Lakers. Okafor shot 6 for 10 from the field and went 1 for 2 from the foul line, finishing with 13 points and 13 rebounds. The big man added an assist, a steal and two blocks in his 38 minutes of action. His efforts would not be enough though, as the Hornets lost to the Lakers, 107-101.
Analysis: Okafor had a tough matchup on Friday -- dealing with Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol in the paint. The big fella did get back to his double-double ways as he's averaging 13.4 points and 11.8 rebounds over his last five contests. He's shooting a stellar 68 percent from the field over that span, which is exceptional. His lone fault is when he travels to the foul line, where he's been shooting a dismal 45.8 percent. Fantasy owners will have to take the good with the bad when it comes to Okafor. But he's worth using in all standard CBSSports.com Fantasy leagues, especially seeing how he's playing at a high level.
News: New Orleans center Emeka Okafor tallied 17 points and 15 rebounds to lift the Hornets past Washington on Saturday night. Okafor matched a season high in rebounds and posted his second double-double in a row. Okafor was nearly perfect from the field, connecting on his first four shots and finished 7 for 8. The 6-foot-10 bruising center added an assist but failed to block a shot for the first time in four games.
Analysis: Okafor has been sensational recently and has posted a double-double in six of his last eight games. Okafor has been shooting the ball extremely well -- 62 percent or better in three consecutive games -- to increase his season average to 57.4 percent for the field. If there was an opportunity to buy low on the dominant post presence, it might be closing. He should be considered a high-end No. 2 Fantasy center going forward.
News: After two games of not reaching a double-double, New Orleans center Emeka Okafor remedied that on Friday against Boston. He scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in 43 minutes of court time. He shot 9 for 13 from the floor, but missed all five of his freebies from the charity stripe. Okafor blocked three shots and had one assist in the Hornets, 83-81 win over the Celtics.
Analysis: Okafor is averaging a double-double per game over his last five contests -- 14.4 points and 10.6 boards. Those numbers are up slightly from his season averages, which is making Fantasy owners very happy. Keep him active in all formats as he is a solid center option.
News: New Orleans C Emeka Okafor did not record a double-double for the first time in four games on Monday at Minnesota. He had done it in four straight prior to Monday, but managed just nine points and eight boards against the Wolves in a loss. He shot 4 of 8 from the field and added three blocks.
Analysis: Okafor is still averaging 15.2 points and 12 boards per game over his last five with 1.8 blocks and a steal as well. As long as that continues, he's able to have a lesser game every now and again. Continue starting him across the board in Fantasy.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor only missed one shot on Monday night in a one-point loss to the Indiana Pacers. Okafor had a big night as he scored 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the double-double. He added three blocked shots and two steals in the performance. Okafor shot 7 of 8 from the field.
Analysis: The center out of UConn has recorded double figures in rebounds in three straight games and is averaging 10.6 per contest over his last five. That comes with 11 points and 2.0 blocks. Since he's shot 21 of 30 from the field overall over that span, we'd call Okafor a viable start in just about Fantasy league across the board.
News: Hornets center Emeka Okafor scored 10 points -- the first time he'd done so in four games -- and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds on Wednesday. New Orleans would beat the Kings 94-91. He shot 4 for 5 from the field and shot 50 percent from the charity stripe. He would add an assist and four blocks in his 33 minutes of action.
Analysis: Okafor's numbers have taken a dip over his last five games. He's recording 8.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per contest over that span. On the year, the veteran center is averaging just under a double-double per contest which is good enough to make him worth using in most Fantasy formats.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor had an off-shooting night on Friday against the Thunder. He went just 2 of 6 from the field, and 2 for 5 from the charity stripe, finishing with six points in the 97-92 loss. He was able to haul in eight rebounds in 28 minutes, and contributed with an assist and a blocked shot. Okafor is averaging 8.3 points with 5.7 rebounds over his last three contests.
Analysis: Okafor had recorded three consecutive double-doubles before going on his three-game skid so Fantasy owners should keep an eye on how he trends heading into Week 8 (Dec. 13-19). He averages a double-double for his career, but his scoring has gone down each of the last five seasons. But as long as he is starting for New Orleans and grabbing rebounds, he will continue to have value in most Fantasy formats. Expect the 28-year-old to bounce back and be sure to keep him active as a solid Fantasy option.
News: New Orleans center Emeka Okafor notched 11 points and 14 rebounds in the Hornets' 100-92 loss to the Knicks on Friday night. It was Okafor's third consecutive game with a double-double and his sixth of the season. Okafor was, however, held without a block for this first time in five games.
Analysis: Okafor is becoming a nightly threat for a double-double and his season averages are trending upward as well. Okafor, who played 35 minutes Friday, finished just 3 for 4 from the field against the Knicks but sank 5 of 10 free throws. The big man is now averaging 12.6 points and rebounds per game in his latest double-double streak. With his production holding steady, he should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy center with upside.
News: It had been six games since Emeka Okafor registered a double-double. That ended on Monday night against the Thunder when the Hornets center logged 13 points and 11 rebounds. Okafor shot 5 for 8 from the field and 3 for 5 from the foul line. He also had four blocks on the day in his 31 minutes of play. The Hornets would not be able to hold onto the lead though, as they lost to the Thunder, 95-89.
Analysis: During his last six games, Okafor was averaging just 6.8 points, 9.7 boards and 1.8 blocks per game. It seems Okafor will always get around 10 rebounds a game, but his points are what Fantasy owners would like to go up. Despite his slight dip in production, Okafor is more than worthy of a No. 2 Fantasy center in most formats.
News: Hornets center Emeka Okafor can't find his shot recently as he went 3 for 7 from the field on Wednesday against the Jazz. He would hit 1 of his 2 foul shots en route to his seven points in 25 minutes. He added a tam-high 10 rebounds for the Hornets, but it wouldn't be enough as the Jazz would hand them their third loss of the season -- 105-87.
Analysis: Okafor had a run of five straight double-digit scoring games, before his current slide. Over his last six games he has just one outing where he scored ind double figures and is averaging 6.8 points per game. He is however making up for his lack of points with his stellar performance on the glass. He's been ripping down 11 boards over that same span. Despite this dip in points, Okafor does enough to be considered a viable center in all Fantasy formats.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor recorded his second double-double in three games on Wednesday in a win over Dallas. Okafor scored 13 points on 5 of 10 shooting over 36 minutes on the floor. He added 10 rebounds for his third straight game in double figures in boards. He also blocked two shots and added a steal in the 99-97 win.
Analysis: Okafor is averaging 11.7 points and 9.2 rebounds on the season and his numbers have been even better than that of late. He's getting over 30 minutes per night and is performing like a very Fantasy-viable center in all formats.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor is averaging just under 10 rebounds in his last four games after another solid performance on Saturday. He pulled down another 12 rebounds and complimented them on offense, scoring 14 points on 6 of 11 shooting. Okafor also chipped in with a block and a steal in 33 minutes of action.
Analysis: Okafor has always been an efficient shooter on the offensive end, but he is bringing in more and more rebounds as the young season progresses. He is also continuing to block his fair share of shots, so he is becoming a solid Fantasy contributor. Keep him active moving forward.
News:Emeka Okafor evoked memories of his dominant college days on Friday against the Heat. Okafor had a season-high 26 points and 13 rebounds, and New Orleans remained unbeaten with a 96-93 victory over the Miami Heat on Friday night that gave the Hornets (5-0) their best start in franchise history. "Mek was outstanding tonight," point guard Chris Paul said. "Every time he stepped out on the court, he played with a lot of passion and I think when he gets going, we all feed off of him. He just played a great game." Okafor was 12 of 13 from the field, dished out an assist and had a block. "My team, they got me involved early," Okafor said. "That's important. It gets you going, gives you energy."
Analysis: Okafor is shooting 73.5 percent from the field in the first five games. With a point guard like Paul, Okafor is clearly getting the ball close to the basket and converting easy attempts. He has played two of his best games in his last two appearances, and if Okafor can keep this up, then who knows how good he can be? Okafor's Fantasy value is on the rise, so you might consider putting him in lineups for Week 3 (Nov. 8-14).
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor came up just one rebound shy of his first double-double of the season on Wednesday at Houston. He finished with 15 points and nine rebounds and also blocked a season-high five blocks. Okafor has averaged 9.3 points and 7.5 rebounds through his first four games of the season.
Analysis: Okafor went scoreless with nine boards in the team's opener, but has otherwise been around 10-15 points per game. He was held to four boards in one game but has otherwise been around 8-9 boards. Okafor is capable of a double-double on a nightly basis with solid block totals and remains a solid No. 2 center or even low-end No. 1 starter in deeper formats.
News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports the Hornets ran specific plays designed for C Emeka Okafor on Friday. It worked against Denver as Okafor, who was blanked from the scoring column in the opener, scored 13 points in the game. He added eight rebounds and four blocked shots.
Analysis: Especially after his fruitless opener, Fantasy owners would kill to see Okafor average close to what he did on Friday. If he can score 10-15 points and add his rebounds and blocks, Okafor becomes a must-have at center.
News: New Orleans center Emeka Okafor did not take a shot in the Hornets' season opener, but did grab nine rebounds in his almost 26 minutes of action. That is all the contribution Okafor would make in the Hornets 95-91 win over the Bucks on Wednesday.
Analysis: Okafor had career-lows in rebounds (9.1), blocked shots (1.6), and points (10.4) last season, but still almost gave Fantasy owners a double-double per game. The big man also played in all 82 games -- the third straight season he's accomplished that feat -- so he's been showing some durability for the Hornets. His Fantasy value lies in rebounds and blocks for the most part, so his outing wasn't a complete wash. Granted owners would rather have him produce his career lows from last season than getting blanked in points. Based on his history, Okafor should still be considered a No. 2 Fantasy center moving forward.
News: Hornets center Emeka Okafor played almost 20 minutes in New Orleans' preseason opener on Saturday against Memphis, but walked away with just six points on a 1-for-3 shooting performance. He went 4 for 6 from the foul line and grabbed nine rebounds. He chipped in a steal and a block.
Analysis: Okafor played in all 82 games for the third consecutive season but finished with career-lows in rebounds (9.1), blocked shots (1.6), and points (10.4). Despite an off year last season, he still averaged just about a double-double per contest -- which in Fantasy leagues is pretty good. With new players in the mix and Chris Paul back for the Hornets, Okafor could rebound and have a solid year. As it stands right now, Okafor is a No. 2 Fantasy center, but could develop into a must-start player if he improves. He's worth a mid-round pick on Draft Day.
News: The Sports Xchange reports that Hornets center Emeka Okafor was the most disappointing player for New Orleans this past year. Okafor was brought in via trade that sent Tyson Chandler to Charlotte. The hope was that Okafor would have the kind of impact that Chandler did two years ago, but Okafor was often ineffective. He played in all 82 games for the third consecutive season but finished with career-lows in rebounds (9.1), blocked shots (1.6), and points (10.4). His field goal percentage (53.0) was his lowest in four seasons. Okafor averaged a career-low 28.9 minutes even though the Hornets had no dependable backup center.
Analysis: Okafor is still a useful No. 2 Fantasy center heading into 2010-11, but he needs to improve his play to be considered a must-start Fantasy option. We hope that a full year with Chris Paul, who missed most of 2009-10 due to injuries, will help Okafor play better. Plan on drafting Okafor with a mid-round pick next year and hope that his stats will go up.
News: Hornets center Emeka Okafor had 23 points, seven rebounds, one steal and one block Sunday against Minnesota. It was his first 20-point game since March 8 against Golden State and only his seventh 20-point outing of the year.
Analysis: Okafor has been a huge disappointment this season but still remains a serviceable No. 2 Fantasy center in most scoring formats. Keep him active in all leagues for the Hornets' final game of the year Wednesday at Houston.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor had 14 points with five rebounds in Saturday's game against Portland. He also blocked a shot. He is averaging 9.2 points and 8.2 rebounds in his lsat five games.
Analysis: Okafor's numbers have not been impressive the past two weeks, but he is still putting up numbers useful for a No. 2 center in most formats. The blocks and rebounds are there and he's a threat for a double-double on any given night. He's no superstar, but he's serviceable.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor scored just one point in a win over the Mavericks on Monday. Okafor shot 0 for 2 from the floor while grabbing six boards and blocking two shots.
Analysis: Okafor's scoring is down over his last five games (8.8 ppg), but he has accumulated three double-doubles during that span. Luckily for Fantasy owners, the rebounding has been quite steady for Okafor who is averaging 9.2 rebounds over the same span. Until the scoring becomes more consistent, Okafor is a low-end No. 2 Fantasy center in most formats.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor recorded a big double-double in a win over Golden State on Monday night. The former UConn standout scored 22 points on 10 of 12 shooting and added 11 rebounds. He also blocked a shot and dished out three dimes.
Analysis: Okafor is averaging 12.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game over his last five. His rebounding is down but he's also bringing in 1.6 blocks and 1.6 steals and is beginning to shoot at a higher percentage. He can continue to start in the majority of Fantasy leagues.
News: Hornets center Emeka Okafor had 10 points Wednesday against Memphis but grabbed only one rebound and played only 15 minutes, in part because of foul trouble and in part because reserve Aaron Gray earned 20 minutes of action season-highs of seven points and eight rebounds.
Analysis: Okafor has played less than 30 minutes in four of his past five games. Prior to Wednesday's game, Okafor had seen an increase in production in his past two games against Dallas and San Antonio with 26 points and 24 rebounds. Hopefully he can start to see increased minutes and continue to play at a high level, but consider Okafor a No. 2 Fantasy center while he's playing like this and seeing his minutes cut.
News: New Orleans C Emeka Okafor blocked six shots, including five in the first quarter to help the Hornets defeat Houston on Sunday. Okafor scored just four points but added 11 rebounds in the victory. It was his third consecutive game with double digit rebounds.
Analysis: Okafor continues to struggle putting the ball in the basket, but he has been extremely consistent in his rebounding. We expect Okafor to pick up his scoring, and with four games during Fantasy Week 18 (Feb. 22-28), Okafor makes for solid No. 2 Fantasy center.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor scored 13 points and added 13 rebounds in a 107-101 victory over Indiana on Friday. Okafor shot 6 of 11 from the field in while adding one block in 35 minutes. Okafor now has 21 double-doubles on the season.
Analysis: The 13 points from Okafor was the first time in his last four contests that he reached double figures. While the scoring hasn't been there from the former UConn star, his rebounding has been consistent and Okafor has recorded back-to-back games of double digit rebounding. Since he has the ability to grab a low-end double-double on any given night, Okafor makes for a solid No. 2 Fantasy center.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor chipped in eight points and 10 rebounds on Wednesday against the Jazz. He also had three blocked shots. Okafor pulled down double-digit rebounds for the first time in five games.
Analysis: Okafor is looking to get back on track in the second half after he didn't have a very good run right before the All-Star break. Maybe he is missing the presence of Chris Paul a bit, but Okafor can definitely be a double-double threat and is a great shot blocker. He is a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy center.
News: New Orleans C Emeka Okafor scored just three points as the Hornets defeated Boston 93-85 on Wednesday. Okafor played 24 minutes, shooting 1 of 3 from the field while adding nine rebounds and three blocks.
Analysis: Okafor has struggled mightily over his last five games. He has averaged just 8.2 points to go along with 7.2 rebounds. He has failed to score more than three points in his last two contests, but he is providing solid rebounding. Fantasy owners will have keep tabs on how Okafor plays after the All-Star break to determine his Fantasy worth. He is normally a must-start option, but his recent play has limited to him as a player that is best suited in the deepest of leagues.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor recorded his third double-double in his last five games on Wednesday in a loss to the Thunder. The former UConn big man scored 14 points on 7 of 11 shooting and added 12 rebounds and two blocks. He also had two steals.
Analysis: Okafor is averaging 13.2 points, 10 boards, 1.2 steals and 1.6 blocks per game over his last five. Averaging a double-double per game this season, Okafor remains worthy of Fantasy starts in all leagues and formats.
News: New Orleans C Emeka Okafor scored 21 points to help the Hornets defeat Memphis 109-102 in overtime on Saturday. Okafor had 14 in the third quarter, hitting all seven of his shots in the period. That helped New Orleans cut the Memphis advantage to 81-76 entering the fourth. He finished shooting 10 of 14 from the field while adding 10 rebounds.
Analysis: Okafor's ability to accumulate a low-end double-double on a nightly basis makes him a solid Fantasy starter. Whenever he puts up 21 point games like Saturday, it is just icing on the cake for Fantasy owners.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against the Warriors on Wednesday, his second double-double in his last three games. In 28 minutes he attempted only six shots, making five of them. He added one steal and one block.
Analysis: By this point you should know what you're going to get out of Okafor. Over his last five games he's averaged 11.6 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 blocks, right about at his season averages. While he's not going to score many points attempting only eight shots a game, he's a solid rebounder. He remains a top-notch Fantasy center.
News: New Orleans C Emeka Okafor scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his second double-double in his last five games on Saturday at Denver. The big man out of UConn added a block and shot 7 of 13 from the field over 44 minutes.
Analysis: Okafor is averaging 9.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game over his last five with 1.6 blocks. His scoring and boards have gone down a bit but let's hope this last game Saturday was a step back in the positive direction. He remains worth startign in most Fantasy leagues.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor had 14 points and 12 rebounds in a 101-96 victory over Indiana on Saturday. In 40 minutes of play, Okafor shot 6 of 15 from the field and added one assist.
Analysis: Okafor has been inconsistent with his scoring all season. However his rebound production has remained high, and he has shown he is capable of double-double type numbers. With a favorable schedule in Fantasy Week 13 (Jan.18-24), Okafor should be a good play in all leagues.
News: New Orleans C Emeka Okafor had a great game on Monday in a loss at Philly. He scored 20 points on 6 for 11 shooting and grabbed 11 boards.
Analysis: The big man from UConn is averaging 12.2 points and 9.4 rebounds with 1.4 blocks per game over his last five. These numbers remain right around what you can expect out of him on a nightly basis. As long as he's averaging this close to a double-double, he's worth starting in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor grabbed 13 rebounds to go with 13 points on Friday in a win over the Nets. The former Connecticut center shot 4 of 10 from the field and added a blocked shot.
Analysis: Okafor is averaging 10.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game on the season. He's at 11.8 and 11.3 thus far after four January games and that means he's improving. As long as he's averaging a double-double, he's worth starting in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds with one block on Wednesday in a win over Miami. He shot 5 of 10 from the field.
Analysis: Okafor is averaging 11 points and 11 boards per game over his last five contests and that is very close to his season numbers. As long as he averages a double-double and adds almost two blocks per night, he'll remain a top-notch Fantasy center.
News: New Orleans C Emeka Okafor had another rough game on Saturday in a loss to the Bulls. Okafor went 0 for 5 from the field in 20 minutes of action, scoring just four points from the line. He had nine rebounds and two blocks to his stat line however.
Analysis: Okafor has played less than 30 minutes in four of his last five games and has missed 18 of his last 22 shot attempts spanning the past two games. He is certainly in a funk right now and Fantasy owners can't be too happy with him. He has high-end potential but is more of a low-end No. 1 option at this point in the season.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor, who looked like he had finally gotten on track with four double-doubles to open the month, scored less than 10 points for the second time in three games Monday at Dallas. He finished with four in 23 minutes, adding five rebounds, two blocks and two steals. He's averaging 7.7 points and 5.3 rebounds during that three-game stretch.
Analysis: Okafor's minutes have dipped along with his production, which is curious since he hasn't gotten into much foul trouble. He's still averaging about a double-double per game and is still one of the better blockers in the league, making him a No. 1 Fantasy center, but he hasn't shown much consistency in his first year with the Hornets.
News: The Hornets play three games in Week 7 (Dec. 7-13) and that means three games for center Emeka Okafor. Okafor scored 17 points and ripped down 13 rebounds with three blocks in his last game on Friday in a win over Minnesota.
Analysis: Okafor is averaging almost 11 points and 10.2 boards per game this season and over his last three games is up around 18.5 points and 11 boards. Plus, he's good for almost two blocks per game. He is clearly playing like a top-end Fantasy center and is worth using across the board.
News: New Orleans C Emeka Okafor scored 20 or more points for just the second time this season on Sunday in a loss to the Kings. He scored 20 points in the game, adding nine rebounds and two blocked shots to his stat line.
Analysis: Okafor has not been to good in terms of scoring in his first year with the Hornets, having scored just 17 points in his three games prior to Sunday. He is still an excellent scoure of rebounds and blocks, but Fantasy owners continue to bench him in many formats. For now, Okafor should only be considered a No. 2 Fantasy option with the potential to be a must-start.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor, who went three games without scoring in double figures, finally got back on track with 13 points and 12 rebounds Thursday against the Suns. The double-double was his sixth of the season.
Analysis: Okafor recorded double-doubles in four of his first five games, but his numbers have been pretty pathetic since then. He's still worth starting in most Fantasy formats since he's a good source of rebounds and blocks, but he's playing more like a No. 2 Fantasy center than a No. 1.
News: Hornets C Emeka Okafor picked up a double-double on Monday night in New Orleans' first win over the Knicks. Okafor scored 24 points on 9 of 13 shooting. He was 6 of 6 from the line. He added 10 rebounds and three blocks.

Analysis: Okafor backed up his billing as a No. 1 Fantasy center with his debut.
News: New Orleans C Emeka Okafor could not play in the preseason finale on Friday against the Clippers. Okafor has a sprained toe on his right foot and did not play in any of the preseason games for fear he would aggravate the injury.
Analysis: Yahoo.com is reporting that some of Okafor's teammates are getting restless and want their center back on the court, foot injury or not. With the depth of the Western Conference, they can't afford to have Okafor miss the first few weeks of action. The Hornets also do not want to rush his return and risk further injury so it is a sticky situation. Okafor has played 82 games each of the last two seasons, so durability isn't a big concern with him. He's an expert rebounder and shot blocker who has a chance to contribute as many as 15 points per game. Draft him as a No. 1 Fantasy C but keep him inactive for Week 1 because it doesn't seem like he'll be able to give you 100 percent effort, if at all.

News: NBA.com reports that Emeka Okafor has a sprained toe on his right foot and the Hornets said Thursday that he will likely miss most full workouts for two weeks and probably the team's first three preseason games.
Analysis: Okafor was obtained in an offseason trade for center Tyson Chandler, who coincidentally needed surgery to repair a big toe injury. "I don't expect him to miss a whole lot of games this year," Hornets head coach Byron Scott said on Wednesday. "But the one thing we want to do is give him ample time to heal. Right now, we're in the early stages of the season. We have training camp and then preseason." The Hornets coach went on to say that he is not really worried about the injury. Okafor has played 82 games in each of the last two seasons and has proven to be durable after dealing with injuries his first three seasons.
News:Emeka Okafor was dealt to the Hornets on Tuesday for Tyson Chandler in a deal involving 26-year-old centers. "Emeka is one of the premier centers in the NBA with All-Star caliber scoring and rebounding averages throughout his career," Hornets general manager Jeff Bower said. "His potential to improve is endless once you put him on the court running with Chris Paul."
Analysis: The trade brought different financial relief to both teams. The Hornets were intrigued by Okafor's superior rebounding and durability, giving New Orleans a reliable big man with a longer contract as they try to recover from last season's first-round playoff exit. Okafor averaged 13.2 points and 10.1 rebounds last season, but his style didn't mesh with coach Larry Brown, who questioned his basketball fire at the end of the season. Bobcats owner Bob Johnson, who is looking to sell the team after losing millions of dollars, has ordered management not to reach the luxury tax threshold. Getting Okafor's big contract off the books will help achieve that goal in future seasons. Okafor's Fantasy value won't change much, though his offensive numbers could get a boost with Chris Paul feeding him the ball in the paint. Expect alley-oop passes to become a regular part of his offensive arsenal.
News: Persons familiar with the deal say the Charlotte Bobcats are finalizing a trade that would send Emeka Okafor to the New Orleans Hornets for Tyson Chandler. The swap of centers could be completed later Monday, two people told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because an official announcement has not been made.
Analysis: If the deal comes to be, the Bobcats will be giving up the only starting center in franchise history for Chandler, who has been plagued by a left toe injury. Chandler played in only 32 games last season and a trade to Oklahoma City was rescinded because of concerns over the injury. The deal comes less than a year after Okafor signed a six-year, $72 million deal with the Bobcats. Okafor's value would not change much, though his offensive numbers could get a boost with Chris Paul feeding him the ball in the paint. Expect alley-oop passes to become a regular part of his offensive arsenal.
News: Charlotte forward Emeka Okafor had nine points, five rebounds and one assist Monday at New Jersey. Okafor now has only one double-double in his past four games.
Analysis: Okafor has been a solid Fantasy option all year and only played 22 mintues against the Nets. The Bobcats know what kind of player Okafor is and have no worries about his value next year. Fantasy owners should feel the same way, which is why Okafor remains a great option in all scoring formats coming into next season.
News: Bobcats F/C Emeka Okafor had 12 points with 10 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals in Wednesday's double-overtime game in Boston. He is averaging 12.2 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks over his last five games.
Analysis: More or less, this is what Fantasy owners have come to expect from the former UConn standout. He is averaging 13.6 points, 10.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks over his last five games and remains a solid play as a No. 2 forward or a No. 1 center (where eligible).
News: Bobcats PF Emeka Okafor hasn't been scoring that well of late as he had 13 points on Tuesday night in a win over the Lakers. Okafor added nine rebounds and three blocks in the game.

News: Bobcats PF Emeka Okafor was able to play through a sprained ankle Tuesday against the Bulls. He started and played 31 minutes, totaling 14 points and 10 rebounds. It was his fifth double-double in seven games.
Analysis: Okafor showed a lot of courage getting on the court Tuesday and played fairly well despite a tender ankle. We are not yet sure if he is going to have trouble playing Friday against the Hawks, but it does look as though Okafor will try to play through this injury. He is a No. 1 Fantasy center when healthy since he has become a double-double threat on a nightly basis.
News: The Charlotte Observer reports Bobcats forward Emeka Okafor didn't scrimmage in Monday's practice, following a right ankle sprain Saturday vs. the Los Angeles Clippers, but he didn't sit, either. Okafor and Raja Bell worked out on the side on stationary bikes. Coach Larry Brown is making sure Bell gets plenty of rest after he suffered two groin strains this season. Okafor seemed to be getting around fine on his ankle, so the paper expects he'll play Tuesday vs. the Bulls.
Analysis: It sounds like Okafor will play against the Bulls so keep him active in all leagues. When healthy, Okafor is a No. 1 Fantasy option.
News: Bobcats forward Emeka Okafor had eight points and six rebounds Tuesday at Phoenix. It was his lowest point total since scoring only five against Phoenix on Jan. 23.
Analysis: It appears like Okafor doesn't like facing Shaquille O'Neal, which is understandable. Look for Okafor to bounce back and consider him a No. 1 option.

News: Charlotte PF was able to tear down 19 rebounds and score 15 points in a 102-97 loss to the Hawks on Friday. It was the first time in five games that he was able to reach double digits in rebounds It was his second-highest rebounding total of the season, falling one short of the 20-board performance he had against the Pacers on Nov. 28.
Analysis: Okafor has been playing well of late, scoring 15.2 points per game with 9.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game over his last five games. News: Bobcats F/C Emeka Okafor had 15 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in Monday's game at Utah. He is averaging 15.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks over his last five games.
Analysis: Okafor is averaging 10.5 rebounds per game this season, which means he is actually seeing less production there than normal recently. However, his overall numbers are still useful as a No. 1 center in leagues where he is eligible at the position. He is also useful as a No. forward. Expect him to get back to posting double-doubles soon.
News: Charlotte forward Emeka Okafor had 18 points, 11 rebounds and two assists Tuesday at Los Angeles. He ended a two-game streak without registering a double-double and is averaging 13.8 points and 10.2 rebounds in his past five games. For the season, Okafor has 25 double-doubles.

Analysis: Okafor led the league in field goal percentage in December, but was plain awful against the defensive juggernaut that Cleveland is. However, not every team has a defense like Cleveland's, so keep starting him in nearly all leagues because he has been hot.

Analysis: Okafor is warming right now with 15.3 points and 11.5 rebounds per game over his last four with two blocks per night as well. He's playing like the No. 1 Fantasy center everyone expected him to be lately and that is great news for owners who have him in 100 percent of leagues. Analysis: After a very slow start to his first season playing under coach Larry Brown, he's become the team's most consistent Fantasy producer over the course of the last month. News: Charlotte PF Emeka Okafor had a season-high 27 points and 17 rebounds in Thursday's loss to Dallas. Okafor was 12-of-17 from the floor and added three blocked shots in 41 minutes of action.
Analysis: Okafor is the definition of inconsistent. He's had four double-doubles in his last seven games and he's also had two games in which he didn't reach double figures in neither scoring nor rebounding. He does block shots consistently and has the upside of a No. 1 Fantasy option, but should be counted on as no more than a No. 2 these days. Hopefully he can continue to perform like he did Thursday.

Analysis: Okafor has gone six straight games without a double-double before this recent stretch as he, like many of his teammates, has had trouble adjusting to new coach Larry Brown. He's normally a No. 1 Fantasy center and looks like he's getting back to that level. Keep him active.

Analysis: Okafor now has 29 rebounds in his last two games for Charlotte. Okafor has been struggling scoring of late and does not seem to be fitting well into new coach Larry Brown's plans. That will come in time. He's still worth using in Fantasy because of his solid rebounding numbers.

News: This first week is a tough one for Charlotte. They are slated for just two games and will face a Cavaliers team that ranked ninth in the NBA defensively last season. They wrap up the week by playing a Heat team that will be looking for its identity early on in the season, so the second game should be wide open.
Analysis: Despite playing just two games, Jason Richardson, Emeka Okafor, Gerald Wallace and Raymond Felton should be considered good starts in any format unless you have a dearth of options with overwhelmingly favorable matchups. Okafor in particular should have his way in the Miami game against an undersized front court.

Okafor also led the team in blocked shots (1.7 per game) and field-goal percentage (53.5). Head coach Larry Brown had said it was critical they retain Okafor for his defense and inside presence on a team that struggled to rebound last season. He is going to be a double-double machine again in 2008-09 and should average around 14 points and 10 boards, making him useful as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy center or a solid No. 2 or 3 Fantasy forward.
News: The Charlotte Bobcats came to terms with Emeka Okafor on Tuesday on a six-year, $72 million deal with the restricted free agent. "It was very important for us to get a deal done," general manager Rod Higgins said. "He creates a sense of security around the basket for us. He's a guy that I think his skills are still developing in a lot of ways. Having Larry as our head coach now, Emeka will benefit having a great coach to teach him."

He is going to be a double-double machine again in 2008-09 and should average around 14 points and 10 boards, making him useful as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy center or a solid No. 2 or 3 Fantasy forward.
News: While the Bobcats can match any offer another team makes - and few teams have the salary cap space to offer the power forward big money - managing partner Michael Jordan showed some concern about getting a deal done with Charlotte's top rebounder, shot blocker and defensive force. "We're going to do everything, but sometimes negotiations can be tough," Jordan said last week. "We felt like we put out a great value for Emeka last year and here we are dealing with the same situation."
Analysis: Okafor likely won't be leaving the Bobcats, as the team has the ability to match any offer sheet made by any other team. He is going to be a double-double machine again in 2008-09 and should average around 14 points and 10 boards, making him useful as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy center or a solid No. 2 or 3 Fantasy forward.

Analysis: While Okafor has his scoring back up, he has only one double-double in his last seven games. He has been streaky at time this season, so this is nothing new. Hopefully he can get hot soon as most Fantasy owners are in the playoffs and rely on him to be a No. 1 Fantasy center. He is still motivated to finish strong as his free agency looms.
News: Bobcats F/C Emeka Okafor reached double figures for the first time in four games Wednesday at the Lakers, totaling 11 points and 11 rebounds despite picking up five fouls.

News: Bobcats center Emeka Okafor went for only four points, two rebounds and three assists Tuesday at Utah. In his past four games, Okafor has just 20 points and 19 rebounds.
Analysis: We're used to seeing Okafor approach those totals in one game, let alone four. He's mired in a slump, but he's still worth using as a No. 2 Fantasy center at this time.

Analysis: Okafor struggled out of the All-Star break with just 14 points and 17 rebounds in his first two games. He has 35 points and 27 rebounds in his last two games. He is back folks. Okafor will look to end his season on a high-note as he is playing for his next contract. He remains a No. 1 Fantasy center.
News: Bobcats F/C Emeka Okafor had 17 points and 13 rebounds Saturday at Washington, giving him his first double-double in his last three games and his second in his last six.

News: Bobcats F/C Emeka Okafor pulled down 10 rebounds Tuesday at San Antonio, but he scored only two points and shot only 1-for-9 from the field. He moved back to the center position after starting the last few games at power forward.
Analysis: Okafor has fared better as a power forward than a center this season, but the Bobcats prefer to use him in the No. 5 spot with Gerald Wallace in the starting lineup. Don't worry too much about where Okafor plays. He averages 13.6 points and 11.1 rebounds per game and deserves to start in all leagues.
News: Bobcats C Emeka Okafor was active on both the offensive and defensive end Wednesday against the Hawks. Okafor scored 20 points and grabbed 21 rebounds. It was his fifth double-double in seven February games. It was his second 20-point/20-rebound game this season.

Analysis: Okafor has had double-doubles in six of his last seven games and he's had a block in eight straight games. He's playing well in a combo role with Nazr Mohammed now after struggling initially when Mohammed joined the team. Start Okafor as a No. 1 center or No. 2 forward in Fantasy.
News: Bobcats C Emeka Okafor had 13 points with 15 rebounds, an assist and a block in Wednesday's loss at Sacramento.
Analysis: Okafor has had double-doubles in five of his last six games and he's had a block in eight straight games. He's playing well in a combo role with Nazr Mohammed now after struggling initially when Mohammed joined the team. Start Okafor as a No. 1 center or No. 2 forward in Fantasy.
News:Emeka Okafor is starting to pick up his play of late and seems to be regaining some of the Fantasy appeal he lost when Nazr Mohammed joined the team. He's averaging 17.8 ppg and 11.6 rpg over his last five games with double-doubles in four straight contests.
Analysis: Okafor also averaging 2.0 bpg in that span. Meanwhile, Mohammed has come back down to earth, averaging just 8.4 ppg and 6.0 rpg over those five games. He once again makes for a solid No. 1 Fantasy center or a decent No. 2 or 3 Fantasy forward.
News: Bobcats C Emeka Okafor had 21 points, 16 rebounds and three assists Friday at Chicago, giving him his third straight double-double. After a slow transition from power forward to center, he has scored in double figures in five straight games and seven of his last eight.
Analysis: Okafor's current averages at center -- 12.7 points and 9.5 rebounds -- don't lag too far behind his season averages of 13.3 and 10.2. He appears adjusted to his new (or old, depending on how you look at it) spot in the lineup and once again makes for a No. 1 Fantasy center.
News: Bobcats C Emeka Okafor had his second consecutive double-double and fourth in seven games when he scored 19 points and added 10 rebounds Wenesday against the Mavs. Okafor has scored in double figures for six of the last seven games.
Analysis: Okafor intially struggled when Nazr Mohammed joined the lineup in December, but Okafor seems to have remembered that he is still playing for his next contract. He is starting to pick it up again. He remains a No. 1 Fantasy center.
News: Bobcats F/C Emeka Okafor had 21 points and 10 rebounds in only 30 minutes Monday against the Spurs. He had scored no more than 13 and pulled down no more than seven in his last three games. In fact, he hadn't had a 20-10 game since Dec. 12.
Analysis: Okafor should still serve as a No. 2 Fantasy center or No. 3 Fantasy forward, but his scoring and rebounding has declined since shifting in the Bobcats real-life lineup from power forward to center. Adjust your expectations for the big man.
News: Bobcats C Emeka Okafor had 13 points with seven rebounds, a steal and a block in Friday's loss at New Orleans. He played just 26 minutes due to foul trouble.
Analysis: Okafor has taken a big hit to his overall Fantasy appeal since the arrival of Nazr Mohammed via trade. But his downfall started even before the trade and Fantasy owners are going to have to adjust their expectations with him. He's no longer going to be a double-double hound while Mohammed is around to take his minutes and boards, but he's averaging 11.7 ppg and 9.0 rpg in January and those types of numbers make him a No. 3 forward or No. 2 center in Fantasy.
News: The Bobcats' Emeka Okafor, who struggled with his recent transition from power forward to center, had 19 points and 13 rebounds Monday against the Nuggets. He had 19 and 15 his last time out.

Analysis: Okafor came into Saturday's game averaging 12.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, but those numbers decrease to 10.2 and 8.8 when he starts at center. Hopefully, he's becoming more comfortable in his new role. Start him as a No. 1 center in Fantasy.
News: Bobcats PF/C Emeka Okafor had only six points and 13 rebounds Friday at New Jersey. In four games since shifting from power forward to center, he has averaged 7.3 points and 10.0 rebounds.
Analysis: Those numbers indicate a decrease from Okafor's season averages of 13.1 points and 10.5 rebounds (entering Friday). Fantasy owners have to hope he finds his groove at center, and we suspect he will. Continue to use him as a No. 1 Fantasy center or No. 3 Fantasy forward.
News: For the second straight game in Monday's overtime win over Indiana, Jason Richardson started at small forward with the Bobcats shaking up their lineup. The team is going with Raymond Felton at shooting guard now and Jeff McInnis at the point. Gerald Wallace is playing power forward and Emeka Okafor is back at center. Nazr Mohammed is the casualty that got moved to the bench.
Analysis: The good news for Fantasy owners that have Okafor in keeper leagues is that he's more than half way to retaining center eligibility for next year. The team won on Monday and this shakeup could stick for a few more games. Okafor and Nazr Mohammed are not being used at the same time on the floor with this new lineup. Okafor had 10 points and 10 rebounds Monday.
News: Bobcats F/C Emeka Okafor was held under 10 rebounds for the fourth straight game Wednesday vs. Washington. He also scored 12 points and had just one steal with no blocks or assists.
Analysis: Okafor's diminishing rebound totals coincide with the arrival of Nazr Mohammed. We don't think Okafor will fall into a secondary role, especially not behind Mohammed's, but this could take some getting used to. Okafor remains a good Fantasy start, with some measure of caution for the future now that Mohammed is around.
News: Bobcats C/F Emeka Okafor was held to six points on 2-for-8 shooting from the field Wednesday vs. Utah. He brought down nine rebounds and had two blocks and a steal.
Analysis: Okafor has been able to move back over to power forward with the arrival of Nazr Mohammed and Mohammed had the better line on Wednesday with 17 points and eight rebounds. We don't expect this to be a long-term trend, though. Okafor continues to be a double-double threat.
News: Bobcats F/C Emeka Okafor picked up his third start at center this season Friday against the Magic. He scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in 36 minutes.
Analysis: Okafor averages over a double-double per game and fortunately already has Fantasy eligibility at center. Him locking it up for next year wouldn't hurt, though. With newcomer Nazr Mohammed expected to arrive for the Bobcats' next game, expect Okafor to return to power forward. He remains a must-start.
News: The Bobcats shifted their lineup Monday at Toronto to include Jared Dudley at power forward. They moved Emeka Okafor to center and Primoz Brezec to the bench. Okafor finished with 10 points and three rebounds. He also blocked three shots.
Analysis: This wasn't a very productive night for Okafor, who remains a must-start in all Fantasy leagues at either forward or center. The Bobcats were getting nothing from Brezec at center so Dudley could find himself at power forward for a while with Okafor playing the five.
News: Bobcats PF/C Emeka Okafor had 12 points and 12 rebounds in Monday's win over Portland. He also had three blocks and a steal and shot 5-for-10 from the field.
Analysis: Wallace continues to be a rebounding machine, but it appears that he will be the team's third or fourth scoring option on most nights behind Jason Richardson, Gerald Wallace and Raymond Felton. He should still see about 10-15 shots per game, though, depending on the flow of the game.
News: Bobcats PF/C Emeka Okafor had 25 points with 23 rebounds in Friday's win vs. Indiana. He shot 10-for-14 from the field and also added a steal and a block.
Analysis: Okafor did hurt Fantasy owners from the line, going 5-for-13 from the charity stripe, but who cares? He had 25 points and 23 rebounds! Clearly, he's a must-start.
News: Bobcats PF/C Emeka Okafor had 17 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks in Friday's season opener vs. Milwaukee. He also added a steal and was an impressive 7-for-11 from the field.
Analysis: Okafor is starting at power forward with Primoz Brezec playing center for now, but the big man can play either position and should see enough starts in both spots to ckeep his dual eligibility going into next season. In either case, he's a must-start Fantasy player.
News: Practice had long since ended Thursday, and Charlotte Bobcats forward Emeka Okafor was still on the court, playing a competitive, rotating one-on-one competition with three teammates. The first draft pick in franchise history was laughing and joking as sweat soaked through his jersey. There was little evidence that just hours earlier Okafor had turned down a contract offer from the Bobcats, meaning he'll become a restricted free agent on July 1. "I definitely want to be here long-term, and the Bobcats want me to be here long-term," Okafor said after the workout. "It's just the way things go sometimes. Everyone is in a great mood. Everybody is cool."
Analysis: The stalemate was unexpected. In a news conference in March, Bobcats part-owner Michael Jordan listed "tying up Okafor" as one of the top offseason priorities. The day before training camp began, Okafor said "there's no doubt in my mind we'll get something done" before the Oct. 31 deadline. But early Thursday morning, the key cog in the Bobcats' defense was without a deal. The 6-foot-10 Okafor will make just over $5.4 million this season in the final year of his rookie scale contract. The two sides can't negotiate again until July 1. The former Connecticut star has averaged 14.5 points and 10.9 rebounds in three seasons. This is actually great news for Fantasy owners as Okafor will be poised for a big season as he plays for his next contract. He is a little injury prone, but is a must-start Fantasy center/forward when healthy.
News: Bobcats C Emeka Okafor had nine rebounds and eight points Saturday against the Heat, shooting 4-of-7 from the floor. He also had two steals and two turnovers.
Analysis: Okafor averaged 14.4 ppg and 11.3 rpg in 67 appearances during the 2006-07 regular season, averaging a double-double for the third consecutive time to start his NBA career. The only concern with Okafor is his lack of durability. He's only 24, but he's played in just 93 games combined over the last two seasons. With that in mind, his production still makes him worth taking in the first three rounds in any Fantasy format.
News: Bobcats PF/C Emeka Okafor scored two points and grabbed six rebounds in 15 minutes during Thursday's preseason game against the Hawks. He shot 1-of-4 from the field and missed both free-throw attempts.
Analysis: Okafor averaged 14.4 ppg and 11.3 rpg in 67 appearances during the 2006-07 regular season, averaging a double-double for the third consucutive time to start his NBA career. The only problem anyone has with Okafor is his lack of durability. He is only 24, and has played in just 93 games combined over the last two seasons. With that in mind, the production is still at a level that he should be drafted in the first three rounds in any Fantasy format. Don't be concerned about poor production in the preseason. The Bobcats are just trying to save him for the regular season.
News: Bobcats F Emeka Okafor averaged 14.4 ppg and 11.3 rpg in 67 appearances during the 2006-07 regular season, averaging a double-double for the third consucutive time to start his NBA career.
Analysis: The only problem anyone has with Okafor is his lack of durability. He is only 24, and has played in just 93 games combined over the last two seasons. With that in mind, the production is still at a level that he should be drafted in the first three rounds in any Fantasy format.
News: Once the Bobcats jumped out to a 20-point lead in the second half Tuesday, they were able to limit minutes for center Emeka Okafor. He was still productive, with 11 points and 10 rebounds in under 28 minutes.
Analysis: Okafor might have his minutes limited the rest of the way, but he's still worth starting in all leagues.
News: Charlotte forward Emeka Okafor had 17 points and 13 rebounds Tuesday against Washington. This is his second double-double since coming back from injury and his third-straight game in double figures in scoring.
Analysis: It appears safe to use Okafor as a No. 1 option again and hope for more outings like this.
News: Emeka Okafor (calf), who had missed 15 straight games, had nine points on 3-of-9 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds in his return to action Wednesday vs. Atlanta.
Analysis: It appears safe to get Okafor back in your lineup, but beware of another setback that may cause him to shut it down for the season with the Bobcats out of contention.
News: Charlotte Bobcats forward Emeka Okafor practiced Tuesday and is ready to return after missing 15 games with a strained left calf. Okafor, the team's top rebounder and shot blocker, said he felt no discomfort during the 90-minute workout and plans to play Wednesday against Atlanta. "It felt great. I'm just getting the rest of my body sharp," Okafor said. "We took the necessary steps to gradually work our way up to this point. I'm pretty sure I won't have soreness." The Bobcats have gone 4-11 without Okafor, who is averaging 14.9 points and 11.7 rebounds a game.
Analysis: It appears safe to get Okafor back in your lineup. Consider him a No. 2 option when healthy.
News: The Bobcats are so beaten-up that coach Bernie Bickerstaff is giving them Sunday and Monday off, to give their bodies a chance to heal. That puts a damper on forward Emeka Okafor's plans to practice before intending to return Wednesday vs. Atlanta. "He wanted to get a couple of practices in (before playing). But we just can't sacrifice everyone else for that," Bickerstaff said.
Analysis: Okafor is still a very risky start for the upcoming scoring period, but is now at least worth a gamble. If you've gotten by this far without him, give him the upcoming week before deciding to activate him for the following scoring period.
News: The Charlotte Bobcats were without five injured players - including their top three scorers - Saturday night against New Jersey. Leading scorer Gerald Wallace did not dress due to severe cramping he suffered Friday following a loss in Philadelphia. Starting point guard Raymond Felton, who suffered a bruised thigh against the 76ers, also did not play. Leading rebounder Emeka Okafor (calf) missed his 15th straight game, while guard Derek Anderson (knee) and Sean May (knee) did not dress. The Bobcats, who were to have 10 players available the Nets, are so banged up coach Bernie Bickerstaff said they wouldn't practice Sunday or Monday. "We need to make sure the guys get two days off. The bodies just need to recover," Bickerstaff said.
Analysis: The Bobcats just can't catch a break at this time. They were without their top four scorers Saturday and they could be without some of them next time the team takes the court on Wednesday against the Hawks. It doesn't appear that Felton and Wallace are too hurt, but they are both considered injury-risk starts for the upcoming scoring period. Okafor has been out for 15 games, but the team expects him back soon. He should be kept reserved in all Fantasy leagues until he is cleared to return. May has been problematic all season and shouldn't be put back into Fantasy lineups until he can play in consecutive games without lingering effects. Finally, Anderson has very little Fantasy value when healthy and should be kept reserved at this time.
News: Bobcats F Emeka Okafor (calf) plans to practice with the team Monday and Tuesday of next week. If that goes well, Okafor could be activated for Wednesday's home game against the Atlanta Hawks.
Analysis: Okafor missed the past 14 games with a strained left calf, but doesn't act like he wants to shut it down for the season. He traveled with the team on the two-game trip to Boston and Philadelphia, working out with the strength-and-conditioning staff to rehab. Okafor is still a very risky start for the upcoming scoring period, but is now at least worth a gamble. If you've gotten by this far without him, give him the upcoming week before deciding to activate him for the following scoring period.
News: Bobcats F Emeka Okafor (calf) did not play Friday against the 76ers.
Analysis: Okafor remains a day to day candidate. He is listed as doubtful for Saturday's game against the Nets. When healthy, he is a must-start Fantasy option.

Analysis: Okafor remains a very risky start in all leagues. He may make his return to the lineup at some point this week, but there is no timetable for his return at this time. Keep him reserved until further notice.
News: There is no new information regarding Emeka Okafor's calf injury and his status for the upcoming week. He remains doubtful for Tuesday's game vs. Cleveland.
Analysis: The Charlotte Observer reported a week ago that he'd be out at least a week, but now there is no word about his status for Tuesday's game. For Fantasy GMs that need to set their lineups on Monday, Okafor is far too risky of a gamble this week. Start him at your own risk.
News: Bobcats G Brevin Knight (groin), F Sean May (knee) and F Emeka Okafor (calf) did not play Saturday against the Bucks.
Analysis: All three players remain day to day. It is probably best to keep them reserved for the upcoming scoring period as their return date is still unknown.
News: Charlotte Bobcats forward Sean May will sit out Friday night's game against the Los Angeles Clippers with a sore right knee. May told team officials and trainers that he would not be able to play after the team's pregame shootaround, coach Bernie Bickerstaff said. It's the latest in a string of injuries to hit the Bobcats, who were without four starters Friday - May, forward Emeka Okafor, who has missed 10 games with a strained calf; center Primoz Brezec (sprained left ankle); and guard Brevin Knight, out for the second game with a strained groin.
Analysis: Okafor still appears a few games away from returning, so it is best for Fantasy owners to keep him reserved until at least the next scoring period. When healthy, he is a must-start Fantasy option.

Analysis: Keep Okafor reserved in all leagues and hope he can return soon.
News: Emeka Okafor (calf) remained on the inactive list for Monday's game against the Magic.
Analysis: Okafor is considered day to day. He might be able to return on Wednesday against the Kings, but keep him reserved until he can officially return and prove his health.
News: It doesn't sound as if Emeka Okafor (strained left calf) will be back anytime soon. Okafor said the injury isn't as stiff and sore as it was when he left the team during the West Coast trip. But he said it's still bad enough that he can't run or use an exercise bike. "I couldn't even walk properly. Now the stiffness and soreness is down, but if I tried to play with it (he'd be) back to zero," said Okafor.
Analysis: Just when it sounded Emeka could be back soon, he doesn't sound too confident any more. Fantasy owners should once again consider him a risky start for the upcoming scoring period unless the Bobcats announce a return date soon.
News: Although Bobcats forward Emeka Okafor will miss at least the next two games, an MRI exam revealed he will not need surgery as originally feared.
Analysis: Keep Okafor reserved in all formats and hope he can be cleared in time for the next scoring period. The Bobcats still play Phoenix on Wednesday and Memphis on Saturday for this scoring period.
News: According to the Charlotte Observer, Bobcats F Emeka Okafor will miss at least the next three games. Although the injury is not as bad as it was feared to be, he has a strain and a slight tear. Once the swelling and pain subside, Okafor will be cleared for full activity, team trainer Joe Sharpe said.
Analysis: He'll stay in Charlotte for treatment, rather than join the team out west. That means at least 11 days of total rest. But as Sharpe said, "only time will tell how long it takes for that swelling to go away." Keep Okafor reserved in all formats for the upcoming week as he won't play in any of the team's games.
News: If Emeka Okafor is as injured as the Charlotte Bobcats fear, this could be an ugly final 20 games. The Bobcats flew Okafor back to Charlotte Thursday, for a magnetic resonance imaging on the strained left calf that hobbled him this week. Bobcats coach Bernie Bickerstaff says the injury didn't respond to normal treatment. "The way they described the swelling, it was unusual," coach Bernie Bickerstaff said. "We need him to get an MRI and start an extensive rehab program."
Analysis: The Bobcats are particularly vulnerable at power forward right now, with Sean May and Othella Harrington already out with knee injuries. Continue to keep Okafor out of active Fantasy lineups until he is cleared to return. When healthy, he is a must-start Fantasy option. This doesn't sound too promising, though.
News: Bobcats F Emeka Okafor (calf) remained on the team's inactive list Thurday against the Trail Blazers.

Wallace strained his right groin in the third quarter, while Okafor strained his left calf a couple of minutes later. Wallace had 12 points and six rebounds in 24 minutes, while Okafor had seven points and 11 rebounds.
Analysis: Wallace and Okafor have both been Fantasy favorites this season with their outstanding play. They are now both considered injury-risk starts for the upcoming scoring period (Feb. 26-Mar. 4). When healthy, both players are high-end Fantasy options.

News: Matt Carroll says he owes Emeka Okafor dinner. Maybe all the Bobcats should chip in and buy Okafor a banquet. Carroll felt guilty grabbing the last rebound in a 126-110 victory over the New York Knicks Friday. Had Okafor gotten that board, he would have assembled the first triple-double in franchise history. He finished with 20 points, nine rebounds and a NBA-high-for-the-season 10 blocks. So Okafor needled Carroll for grabbing Quentin Richardson's miss in the final seconds and dribbling out the clock. "Matt was greedy," Okafor joked, and in truth, Okafor had no chance of getting that board.

That familiarity and trust now exists.

News: The Charlotte Observer reports that Emeka Okafor's ankle injury appears to be behind him, made evident by the fact that he's able to lead the league in blocked shots with 4.33 per game so far. "We honestly didn't know what to expect," teammate Gerald Wallace said of Okafor. "He'd been gone so long. We didn't know where he wanted the ball or how he would fit in. But it's working out. And I can say this for certain -- we've got our shot-blocker back."

Wednesday's performance is a good start. Okafor is eligible in some leagues as a center. He is a must-start Fantasy player wherever he is eligible in Fantasy leagues.
News: Emeka Okafor only faintly resembles the player who won rookie of the year two springs ago. His sprained right ankle appears to be healed, but the rust shows all over his game. He's not the explosive athlete he was, which means he's as likely to foul as grab a key rebound.
Analysis: Head coach Bernie Bickerstaff believes this will correct itself with playing time, so Okafor will put on the mileage in the remaining preseason games. We still expect him to be a double-double hound this season, but he could get off to a slow start.
News: The Charlotte Observer reports that Emeka Okafor and Sean May will start playing longer in preseason play. "They need stamina," head coach Bernie Bickerstaff said, "and they need minutes. When you sit out a season like that, it's very difficult to come back against competition with all the banging."
Analysis: Okafor could be a breakout player with a huge season ahead of him now that he's lighter, a little healthier and has some backcourt help in Charlotte.
News: The Charlotte Observer reports that Emeka Okafor showed up to training camp about 20 pounds lighter than he was a year ago. After his rookie season, he felt he was banged around too much down low, so he went from 264 pounds up to 282 pounds last year. But an ankle sprain kept him to just 26 games, so he decided that wasn't the answer. "It was muscle, not fat, but I got to the point where I was a little too heavy for my knees," he said. He wouldn't commit to saying his ankle was 100 percent because he wants to test it in training camp practices this week.
Analysis: Okafor could be a breakout player with a huge season ahead of him now that he's lighter, a little healthier and has some backcourt help in Charlotte.
News: Charlotte Bobcats forward Emeka Okafor will miss the rest of the season because of an ankle injury that has already cost him 36 games. Okafor, the reigning Rookie of the Year, sprained his right ankle twice and Charlotte doctors recently discovered the injury had led to severe tendinitis around the joint. He was placed in a soft cast Tuesday that he'll wear for at least a month. "I'm obviously disappointed," said Okafor, who sat hunched over during the news conference and rubbed his face in his hands several times. "As a player you want to be out there playing hard, having fun in front of our fans. But the situation is what the situation is." Okafor, the first draft pick in Bobcats history, was the face of the franchise last season when finished fourth in the NBA in rebounding (10.9 a game) and reached double figures in scoring and rebounding 47 times. But the former Connecticut star never had a chance to improve his numbers this season. Okafor sprained his ankle in a Dec. 19 win over Sacramento and missed eight games.
Analysis: He returned to the lineup Jan. 10 game against Houston, but was re-injured when he stepped on another player's foot while going after a rebound during double overtime. Okafor has not played since, and his rehabilitation had been limited to light ankle weights. The team noticed the tendinitis sometime last week and made the official decision Tuesday to sit him for the rest of the season. "This move was made with Emeka's long-term health in mind," coach Bernie Bickerstaff said. "Since it became clearer that his playing status for this season was in question, we came to the conclusion that the next step toward a full recovery was to immobilize his ankle and build his ankle back to full strength for (next) season." Okafor will stay in Charlotte over the summer to continue his rehab and, once his ankle is cleared, Bickerstaff wants him to work his way back into "basketball shape." It's safe to drop him in all non-keeper leagues.
News: Emeka Okafor's calendar is packed this month. He's signed up for two book fairs, an appearance at Opera Carolina, several meet-and-greets, a pair of kids clinics and an engagement with the University of Connecticut's Alumni Association. The face of the Charlotte Bobcats will be all over town. Everywhere but the basketball court, that is. Heading into the weekend, Okafor has missed 36 games with a sprained right ankle. The centerpiece of the franchise has become a forgotten man in his second NBA season. "I am sure it's difficult for him," said coach and general manager Bernie Bickerstaff, who spent a year scouting Okafor before making him the first pick in franchise history. "Out of loyalty to his teammates, I am sure he wants to be out there and be a part of the franchise that is being built around him. I know his conviction, and I know he wants to be a part of things. But this is the hand he's been dealt."
Analysis: This was supposed to be a big year for Okafor, the reigning rookie of the year. He earned the honors by finishing fourth in the league in rebounding (10.9 a game) and reaching double figures in scoring and rebounding 47 times. He should mainly be reserved in keeper leagues at this point, but if you can afford the roster space hang on to him.
News: Bobcats coach Bernie Bickerstaff plans to talk with trainers Tuesday about forward Emeka Okafor's status. Okafor has missed 35 games with a sprained ankle.

News: According to the Charlotte Observer, Emeka Okafor (ankle) is still on schedule to return from his injury in three to five weeks. The New York Daily News, however, has speculated that Okafor may miss the rest of the season.

News: Charlotte Bobcats forward Emeka Okafor is expected to be out at least another five weeks with a sprained right ankle that has already cost him 19 of the last 20 games. The reigning NBA Rookie of the Year originally sprained his ankle Dec. 19 and missed eight games. He returned on Jan. 10, but was re-injured in the Bobcats' double overtime win over Houston. Charlotte hasn't won a game since.

News: There's a real chance Emeka Okafor (sprained ankle) will be out through the All-Star break.

News: Emeka Okafor was seen on the Charlotte bench, in street clothes, wearing a walking boot and he does not appear close to returning.
Analysis: Okafor's second season in the NBA can be considered a waste at this point. It may be another week or two before he can step back on the court and when he does, there is no guarantee that he'll be able to play in consecutive games. Stay away from him from the time being.
