(8:47 pm ET) Mavericks shooting guard Monta Ellis scored 36 points on 16 of 27 shooting, including 4 of 9 from 3-point range, in Dallas' 109-106 loss Sunday to the Pelicans.

It was Ellis' second highest scoring output in a game this season and first time scoring over 30 points in a game since Dec. 20. Ellis also grabbed five rebounds and dished out two assists in the losing effort.

Eight different Mavericks scored in double digits but Ellis was not among the group despite being just one of two regular starters in the lineup Wednesday. He matched his worst shooting effort of the season while playing 22 minutes, adding four rebounds and one steal. He'll look to bounce back against the same team Friday.

(1/14/2015) Mavericks shooting guard Monta Ellis scored 28 points on 11 of 23 shooting and dished out 10 assists in Dallas' 108-104 win over the Kings Tuesday. It was just Ellis' second double-double of the season.

In six games this month, Ellis has reached at least 20 points in four of them. He also had four rebounds and four steals for the Mavericks. He and Dallas will look to keep rolling Wednesday against the Nuggets.

Ellis shot 8 of 15 from the field and 1 of 4 from the 3-point line. It was his third straight game scoring 20 or more points. He also added one rebound, two assists, one steal and one block.

The Mavericks next play Monday at Brooklyn.

(12/30/2014) Mavericks guard Monta Ellis scored a game-high 20 points to help lead the Mavericks to a 114-87 victory over the Wizards Tuesday.

Ellis shot 8 of 15 from field and 1 of 2 from the 3-point line. He also added two assists and four steals in 29 minutes.

Ellis has been dealing with an ankle injury, but it did not seem to hinder his performance and he said it would not prevent him from playing.

"I really just hate watching basketball from the sideline," Ellis said, per the team's official website.

The Mavericks next play Friday at Boston.

The Mavs opened as 4 1/2-point favorites against the Wizards and the line increased to 5-point favorites as of Tuesday afternoon, per VegasInsider.com.

(12/26/2014) Mavericks power forward Dirk Nowitzki and shooting guard Monta Ellis will play Friday against the Lakers, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Both players missed Friday's shootaround while recuperating from illnesses, leaving their availability Friday in doubt. However, both players will be active and presumably fill their regular roles, health willing.

The Mavericks are a 12-point favorite at home against the Lakers Friday.

Ellis knocked down 15 of 23 field goal attempts, including 5 of 6 from downtown, and 3 of 6 from the charity stripe. Four of his five treys came in the first half. He also added one assist and four steals while logging 40 minutes of game action.

Ellis has registered six 30-point games this season. He's averaging 25.4 points, 5.0 assists and 1.4 rebounds over his last five games.

Ellis struggled immensely Tuesday, scoring just two points on 1 of 11 shooting, but bounced back with a vengeance one night later. He was one of four Mavericks to reach 20 points in the win. Ellis also chipped in five assists, four rebounds, one steal and one block in 38 minutes. He'll square off with the Warriors Saturday.

Ellis has been bothered by a sore elbow, but it has not caused him to miss any games. In 23 games, Ellis is averaging 20.3 points and 4.5 assists.

(12/10/2014) Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle was asked if guard Monta Ellis' ailing elbow affected his shot Tuesday, when he went 1 for 11, making only a layup. "You couldn't tell?" Carlisle told the Dallas Morning News.

"I don't know if he'll say it, but it's obvious it was. Most guys in this league wouldn't have even attempted to play. It's a very tough situation for him. Hopefully, it's more of a day-to-day thing."

While Ellis said he plans on playing Wednesday against New Orleans, Carlisle wasn't so sure. "I got to talk to my trainer and Monta about it," the coach said. "I can't give you an answer now."

Ellis didn't do a lot of shooting Tuesday, instead getting treatment, the paper said.

Ellis' 63.6 shooting percentage was his best mark this season in games where he's taken more than 10 shots, and he rode that efficiency to his third 30-point performance in his last five games. However, it wasn't enough for the Mavericks to earn the team's sixth straight win. Ellis also recorded two rebounds, two assists and one block in 37 minutes Friday. He's set to face the Bucks Sunday.

(12/3/2014) Mavericks guard Monta Ellis went off for 38 points and made some crucial plays down the stretch to lift his team past the Bulls in double overtime on Tuesday.

Down three points, Ellis was inexplicably fouled by Kirk Hinrich with 1.2 seconds remaining in regulation while pulling up for a desperation 3-point heave. He knocked down all three of his shots from the charity stripe to send the game to overtime.

"One of the hardest plays in basketball is to stand up there and make three consecutive free throws with basically the game on the line with little or no time left," coach Rick Carlisle said, per the Star-Telegram. "He stayed in his routine and just trusted it, and he just banged each one of those free throws in."

Down two points in double overtime and with the shot clock nearly expired, Ellis stepped up again and knocked down a 3-pointer with 39 seconds remaining to help secure the win. He finished with 38 points on 16 of 35 from the field, including 1 of 4 from downtown and a perfect 5 of 5 from the charity stripe. He added two rebounds, one assist and two steals while logging 45 minutes of game action.

Ellis led a strong scoring performance by the Mavericks that featured a team shooting percentage of over 55 percent. It was the first time since the season opener Ellis has taken at least 20 shots in a game. He also contributed three assists and one steal in 35 minutes. Winners of three straight, the Mavericks will look to keep it up Monday in Charlotte.

(10/28/2014) Mavericks guard Monta Ellis scored a team-high 26 points on 11 of 21 shooting in his team's 101-100 loss to the Spurs in Tuesday's regular-season opener.

Ellis also contributed six assists, four rebounds and one steal while making one of his two three-point attempts in 37 minutes of action. The guard made shot 45.1 percent during the regular season last year while averaging 19 points in about 37 minutes per game, so Tuesday's performance qualifies as a plus offensive night for the 10th-year player. The Mavericks are set to face the Jazz Thursday.

Ellis missed two games due to a knee injury, but was able to return to practice this week. He was able to play 31 minutes, scoring 13 points and dishing out eight assists.

"We started out with the idea that he was going to do some non-contact stuff, but he felt good and wanted to keep going," coach Rick Carlisle added after watching Ellis go through all of Monday’s practice without a setback, per the team's official website. "He went through the entire practice, which was great. Those games are four days away, so we’ll see. Signs today are good, so tomorrow’s another day and we’ll just keep going. But it’s great seeing him out here."

(10/10/2014) Mavericks guard Monta Ellis is expected to miss the next two preseason games with a sprained left knee, according to he team's official website. Ellis scored 13 points in Tuesday's preseason game before sustaining the injury in practice on Thursday. The issue is not expected to keep him sidelined for the regular season opener on Oct. 28 at San Antonio.
