Francisco Garcia out with back soreness

(4/12/2014) Rockets forward Francisco Garcia is inactive for Saturday's game against the Pelicans, due to a sore back, the team announced before tip. Garcia played 33 minutes the previous night, and did not appear to suffer the injury at any point during that game, so this injury does not seem like a serious one at this point.

(3/22/2014) Rockets forward Francisco Garcia will not be with the team Saturday in Cleveland due to a person issue, the team announced prior to tip.

Garcia has appeared in just one of the team's last three games, playing two minutes total, as his role has shrunk recently. He is averaging 5.8 points and 2.2 rebounds in 46 games this season.

(2/8/2014) Rockets guard Francisco Garcia was available to play Saturday against the Bucks, as coach Kevin McHale told reporters prior to the game. Unfortunately, he was unable to find room in his rotation for Garcia, who missed his 10th game in a row.

Garcia wasn't playing huge minutes even before his injury, so he might have trouble finding much playing time in the near future. He is averaging just 5.8 points and 2.4 rebounds per game on the season.

(2/4/2014) Rockets guard Francisco Garcia is expected to return from knee tendinitis Wednesday against the Suns according to the Houston Chronicle, after an eight-game absence. Garcia was able to practice in full Monday, and should return to his usual role off the bench.

Garcia appeared in the team's first 40 games, averaging 5.8 points and 2.4 rebounds in 20.3 minutes per game.

(1/18/2014) Rockets forward Francisco Garcia will miss about a week of action after being diagnosed with tendonitis in his knee, the Houston Chronicle reports Saturday. Garcia was ruled out for Saturday's game as a result of the injury, which has been bothering him recently. He has averaged just 10.0 minutes per game over the last three.

"It's been bothering me for a while," Garcia said. "I've been trying to play with it. It just got to the point, I had to get it treated. They said I may be out a week or so. The last couple days it got worse."

(12/21/2013) Rockets guard Francisco Garcia earned the start in place of an injured James Harden and knocked down four treys in Saturday's win over the Pistons in Detroit.

Garcia went 6 of 11 shooting from the field, including 4 of 8 from downtown, and 0 of 1 from the free throw line. He finished the game with 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and one block in a 114-97 victory.

Garcia has logged 24-plus minutes in back-to-back games. He is averaging 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds over his last five games played.

Garcia, who was battling a toe sprain but played extensively in the game, knocked down three of his six three-point attempts while adding three assists, two rebounds and one steal.

(11/8/2013) Rockets guard Francisco Garcia played a season-low 14 minutes and scored a season-low two points on 1 of 6 shooting in Thursday's 99-98 loss to the Lakers while missing all five of his three-point attempts.

Garcia had made at least two three-pointers in each of his first five games of the season but just couldn't warm up Thursday, and his playing time suffered as a result. He added one rebound, one block and one steal to his line, though he usually isn't a factor in any of those categories. He'll look to rebound when the Rockets face the Clippers Saturday.


Groin no longer an issue for Francisco Garcia

(10/13/2013) Rockets guard Francisco Garcia was able to play Sunday against the Pacers, having overcome a groin injury that has bothered him at times in the preseason.

Garcia played 17 minutes off the bench in the game, and scored 15 points on 5 of 8 shooting. All of his shots came from three-point range, while he added two rebounds and two blocked shots.

Garcia is expected to be one of the team's primary backups at small forward this season.
