Report: Turiaf to 76ers, Shved to Rockets in Corey Brewer trade

(12/19/2014) The trade sending small forward Corey Brewer from the Timberwolves to the Rockets has a third team involved, with Ronny Turiaf and a second-round pick heading to the 76ers and point guard Alexey Shved moving to the Rockets, Yahoo! Sports reports.

The Rockets are primed to pick up Brewer and Shved, with Rockets shooting guard Troy Daniels heading to Minnesota and Turiaf moving to the 76ers. The Rockets had agreed to send two second-round picks to the Timberwolves as well, but one of those picks will head to Philadelphia as part of the deal.

The Rockets will release guard Francisco Garcia in a corresponding move, Yahoo! Sports reports. He has averaged 3.2 points on 27 percent shooting in 14 games but has battled an ankle issue in recent weeks.


Rockets upgrade Canaan, Papanikolaou to questionable for Wednesday

(12/16/2014) Rockets guard Isaiah Canaan and forward Kostas Papanikolaou have been upgraded to questionable for Wednesday's game against the Nuggets. Francisco Garcia and Terrence Jones will be out.

Canaan, who was able to return to practice Monday, has missed the Rockets last nine games with an ankle injury, while Papanikolaou has missed the last four with a knee injury. 


Trevor Ariza among probable Rockets for Denver game

(12/13/2014) Rockets guard Trevor Ariza has been listed as probable for Saturday's game against the Nuggets, despite nursing a bruised right knee, reports the Houston Chronicle. Ariza is averaging 14.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists through 22 games played. His big man, Dwight Howard (knee) was also upgraded to probable.

Meanwhile, Isaiah Canaan (ankle), Francisco Garcia (ankle), Kostas Papanikolaou (knee) and Terrence Jones (knee) will remain sidelined against Denver.

Canaan was hoping to play Saturday, but has been ruled out with an ankle injury. Garcia is also dealing with an ankle injury. 

Papanikolaou and Jones are still expected to miss a bit more time.

Garcia has appeared in just one of the team's last three games, playing two minutes total, as his role has shrunk recently. He is averaging 5.8 points and 2.2 rebounds in 46 games this season.

Garcia wasn't playing huge minutes even before his injury, so he might have trouble finding much playing time in the near future. He is averaging just 5.8 points and 2.4 rebounds per game on the season.

Garcia was ruled out for Saturday's game as a result of the injury, which has been bothering him recently. He has averaged just 10.0 minutes per game over the last three.

Garcia went 6 of 11 shooting from the field, including 4 of 8 from downtown, and 0 of 1 from the free throw line. He finished the game with 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and one block in a 114-97 victory.

Garcia had made at least two three-pointers in each of his first five games of the season but just couldn't warm up Thursday, and his playing time suffered as a result. He added one rebound, one block and one steal to his line, though he usually isn't a factor in any of those categories. He'll look to rebound when the Rockets face the Clippers Saturday.
