Amir Johnson plays 17 minutes in return

(4/12/2014) Raptors forward Amir Johnson was eased back into action Friday against the Knicks, in his return from a three-game absence due to an ankle injury.

Johnson was in the starting lineup for the game, but played just 17 minutes and failed to make much of an impact. He was scoreless on one field-goal attempt, while adding three rebounds, two assists and a block in the 108-100 loss.

With the Raptors locked into the playoffs, it makes sense the team would be overly cautious with Johnson in his first game back. He has appeared in 74 games this season, averaging a career-high 10.7 points, and adding 6.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists along the way.

(4/10/2014) Raptors forward Amir Johnson went through a light portion of practice Thursday, as he continues to work his way back from a sore right ankle, the National Post reports.

Johnson has missed three straight games due to the ailment and appears to be ready to return Friday against New York, according to the Toronto Sun.

"He's pretty close. He's still not 100 percent. But he's pretty close. If he had to go tonight, he probably could go. We're trying to make sure...he's ready for the next couple of weeks," head coach Dwane Casey said.

With the Raptors locked into the playoffs, they have the liberty to be cautious with his recovery. Johnson remains day to day moving forward with just four games remaining on the schedule after Wednesday.

(4/5/2014) With a playoff spot pretty much locked up, the Raptors aren't taking any chances with any injured starters. Amir Johnson will sit out his second game in a row Saturday against the Bucks, as he continues to deal with an ankle injury suffered Wednesday.

Coach Dwane Casey told the team's play-by-play announcer prior to the game that Johnson's absence is more of a precaution with just five games left on the schedule. The Raptors don't play again until Wednesday against the 76ers.

(4/4/2014) Raprots guard Kyle Lowry and forward Amir Johnson will both travel to Milwaukee, but remain questionable to play Saturday against the Bucks, the National Post reports.

Lowry left Monday's game against Miami with a sore left knee and has now missed two straight games due to the ailment. He has enjoyed a breakout season, averaging 17.4 points, 7.6 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game on the season.

Johnson left Wednesday's contest due to the ailment. He is averaging 10.7 points and 6.7 boards in 73 appearances this season.

Johnson left Wednesday's contest due to the ailment. He is averaging 10.7 points and 6.7 boards in 73 appearances this season. He'll look to return to the hardwood Saturday in Milwaukee.

The team announced shortly after her would be unable to return to the game as a result of the injury, and it is not yet known how serious it is.

Johnson will likely be day to day moving forward, with the Raptors' next game set for Friday against the Pacers.

Johnson continued playing and finished with six points on 3 of 7 shooting. He also chipped in with eight rebounds, three steals, one assist, and one block in 30 minutes. He is averaging 15.8 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists over his last five games.

(3/13/2014) Raptors forward Amir Johnson scored in double figures for the third game in a row Wednesday, a 101-87 win over the Pistons. 

Johnson didn't quite lead the team in scoring, but he put up a solid performance with 20 points on 8 of 14 shooting. He also snagged nine rebounds -- five offensive -- and added one assist, two steals and a block, while turning the ball over just once in 33 minutes in a 101-87 win.

Johnson is starting to turn it up recently, averaging 13.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 blocks per game over the last five.

(2/25/2014) Raptors forward Amir Johnson was able to play through an ankle injury Tuesday, as he logged 36 minutes in a 99-93 win over the Cavaliers.

Johnson got the start and played well, scoring nine points on 4 of 6 shooting. He also filled up the box score well, adding six rebounds, four assists and two blocks, making up for four turnovers.

Johnson has been playing a bit of a reduced role recently, averaging just 27.2 minutes per game over the last five. He is averaging 9.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game in that span.

(2/23/2014) Raptors forward Amir Johnson was forced out of Sunday's game against the Magic with a right ankle sprain. He was ruled out for the remainder of the game, the team announced.

Johnson has been bothered by the injury since late January. He finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, three assists and one steal while logging 23 minutes of game action before the injury. His status is now up in the air for Tuesday at Cleveland.

(2/18/2014) Raptors forward Amir Johnson returned from a two-game absence due to an ankle injury Tuesday against the Wizards, and played well despite coming off the bench for just the fourth time all season.

Johnson played 25 minutes in his reserve role and put up a solid line in a 103-93 win. He scored 14 points on 6 of 8 shooting, while adding five rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in the win.

Johnson seems locked into a role whether he is coming off the bench or starting. He is averaging just 7.6 points and 5.6 rebounds in five February games.

(2/1/2014) Raptors forward Amir Johnson was eased back into action on Friday, but managed to snag nine rebounds, with two of them coming from the offensive end of the glass in a 100-90 victory over the Nuggets in Denver.

Johnson, who suffered a minor ankle injury Wednesday, returned to the starting lineup but was limited to only 18 minutes of game action. He went 2 of 6 shooting from the field, and 2 of 2 from the free throw line. He scored six points and chipped in with one assist, three blocks and one steal.

Johnson has averaged 10.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists over his last five games played.

(1/31/2014) Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan and forwards Patrick Patterson and Amir Johnson all took part in practice Friday but remain gametime decisions for Friday's game against Nuggets, Sportsnet reports.

DeRozan has missed two games due to a foot/ankle injury. Patterson missed the team's previous game while having work on his broken nose. Johnson suffered a minor ankle injury while putting up a double-double Wednesday. With all three active early Friday, it seems likely all will be avalable come game time.

Johnson tweaked the ankle Wednesday but still managed to post a double-double in his tema's 98-83 win over the Magic. Head coach Dwane Casey said immediately after the game that Johnson was fine. He should be good to go for Friday's game against the Nuggets.

Johnson posted his first double-double since Jan. 8 and his first 20-point performance since Dec. 8 in the win. He also kicked in three assists and two steals in 35 minutes Wednesday. Johnson has averaged 10.8 points and 6.7 rebounds over 45 games played.
