Analysis: Miles first year in Cleveland was filled with ups and downs as he seemed to initially struggle running former coach Bryon Scott's offense. However, he did average 15.2 points over his 13 starts, which may intrigue coach Mike Brown to keep him around. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on how things play out over the summer. However, whether Miles ends up staying with the Cavaliers or not, he will need to lock down a starting job in order to make himself draft worthy in most formats next fall.
News: Cleveland forward C.J. Miles was ruled out for Monday's game against Miami due to a lingering concussion. Miles has yet to be cleared under the league's concussion protocol and will likely miss the team's season finale Wednesday at Charlotte.

Analysis: Miles has now missed four straight games with his concussion and with Cleveland only having two games left on the schedule, his season may be over. The 25-year-old was somewhat productive in his first year in Cleveland as he averaged 11.2 points on 41.5 percent shooting from the field in mostly a reserve role. However, unless Miles is projected to start next year, his value will remain that of a low-end option heading into the 2013-14 campaign.

Analysis: The NBA has a pretty strict concussion protocol, so Miles will have to be completely healthy before he can return to the court. It would not be a surprise if he is sidelined through the end of the season, with the Cavaliers having little reason to rush him back. He is averaging 11.3 points per game on the season and struggled with consistency in a reserve role, so he has just low-end appeal down the stretch, when healthy.

Miles was elbowed by Nikola Vucevic in the first half of Cleveland's win over the Magic on Sunday night and needed six stitches to close the gash on his forehead. He was diagnosed with a concussion early Monday morning.
Analysis: So Miles has officially been diagnosed with a concussion, which means he will not be allowed to return to the court until he passes the NBA's concussion protocol. This could end up costing him the final five games of the season as there is really no reason for the team to rush him back at this point. The 26-year-old averaged 11.3 points while being mostly used in a reserve role, giving him low-end appeal in deeper formats when healthy.

He was immediately taken to the locker room where he received six stitches and he was ruled out for the remainder of the game. Miles finished with eight points prior to leaving the contest and is being considered day to day at this point.
Analysis: It doesn't appear Miles sustained a concussion, but that doesn't mean Fantasy owners are off the hook just yet. The 26-year-old will likely be re-evaluated sometime over the next few days, so owners should keep an eye on his status moving forward. Miles is averaging 11.3 points in a reserve role for the Cavaliers this year, giving him marginal Fantasy value in deeper formats when healthy.

At this point in the season, Miles only has value in deeper formats when healthy.

Analysis: Miles was finally able to re-discover his shooting touch Monday night after making just four of his last 13 field-goal attempts. While he continues to come off the bench for the Cavaliers, Dion Waiters' most recent knee injury could force him back into the starting lineup. Miles has averaged 15.2 points as a starter this season, so he could be in for a boost in Waiters ends up missing some time. However, if Miles is only worth owning in deeper formats while he is being used as a reserve.

Miles finished with 11 points in the 102-97 win on 3 of 7 shooting from the field. He is also giving owners 2.6 made treys during his run as he is shooting 37.9 percent from behind the arc -- his second highest shooting percentage from behind the arc since the 2007-08 campaign. Miles ability to knock down 3s gives him some value in deeper formats.
News: Cavaliers small forward C.J. Miles had an efficient night shooting the ball on Wednesday against the Hornets. He scored 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting in the 105-100 win. He missed both of his attempts from downtown but converted his lone free throw while playing 18 minutes off the bench. Miles also posted two rebounds, a steal and a block in the victory.
Analysis: Miles continues to have an up-and-down campaign in his first season in Cleveland but has been playing better of late. He shot the ball poorly overall, shooting 4 of 11 from the field, however he did add a pair of three-pointers to his stat line. He also added five rebounds, in a 96-95 loss.
Analysis: Miles has been a decent scoring option off the bench, but the team has been limiting his minutes to a max of just 21 in the month of February. Miles showed earlier in the season that he can be a solid Fantasy option when put in the right role, but he is being sparsely used right now. Fantasy owners should ignore him in most formats right now.
News: Cavaliers guard C.J. Miles played fewer than 20 minutes for the third time in four games Wednesday, against the Bobcats. He was limited to just 16 minutes off the bench, and scored just six points, his first time being held below double-digits in scoring since returning from an illness. He shot 3 of 7 from the field and missed a pair of three-pointers, while tossing in a pair of assists in a 122-95 win.
Analysis: Miles has seen his role on the team decrease, and he remains little more than a spark plug off the bench. After averaging 27.2 minutes per game in January, he has yet to top 21 minutes in any of the teams three games in February. He has still been solid, averaging 11.0 points on 45.7 percent shooting, but his role limits his value. At this point, Miles remains more of a low-end Fantasy option in most formats.

Analysis: Much like Friday night, Miles was available to come off the bench, but never saw the floor. His scoring average has dropped to 11.9 points per game this month after he posted a 14.9 clip in December, which could be the reason why he is no longer starting for now. Fantasy owners should continue to keep him on the bench while he's inactive, but he is viewed as a low-end option, when healthy.

Fantasy owners should continue to keep him on the bench while he's inactive, but he is viewed as a low-end option anyway.
News: Cavaliers forward C.J. Miles may miss his second game in a row Friday against the Bucks, due to a lingering illness. "He has a virus that has wiped him out for a couple days," coach Byron Scott told the News-Herald. News: Cavaliers forward C.J. Miles was back Friday in Denver, after missing the teams previous game with a back injury. He played 33 minutes in the game, scoring 11 points on 4 of 10 shooting. He shot just 1 of 7 from three-point range in the game, and added a pair of free-throws. He also had seven rebounds and three turnovers, in a 98-91 loss.
Analysis: Miles has been inconsistent as a shooter this season, as this is the second time in the last five games that he has made just one three-pointer in at least six attempts. Of course, in that same time, he has four three-pointers in two separate games. When he gets hot, Miles can put up points in bunches, but he can also hurt your field-goal percentage. He is still averaging 14.0 points per game over the last 10, and remains a low-end starting Fantasy option.
News: The Cavs announced Thursday forward C.J. Miles has been upgraded to probable for Friday's game at Denver after missing Wednesday's game with a low back strain.
Analysis: Miles has become a big frontcourt contributor for Cleveland since mid-December. He, as well as Tyler Zeller and Tristan Thompson, is benefiting from Anderson Varejao's absence from the lineup. Varejao is expected to miss 6-8 more weeks following knee surgery Thursday, so Miles should remain Fantasy relevant a bit longer. He averaged 14.9 points in December and is averaging 13.5 points in January. Scoring and 3-point shooting are Miles' best contributions to Fantasy lineups. Since he doesn't contribute many rebounds or assists, consider Miles more of a low-end Fantasy option.

Analysis: Miles has thrived since being moved back into the starting lineup and is averaging 13.5 points and 2.5 treys since the move was made. While the 25-year-old doesn't give owners much in the assist and rebounding departments, Miles remains a decent source for points and 3-pointers and can be considered a solid low-end option in deeper formats, when healthy.

Miles, who shared his minutes with Waiters, scored just 12 points on 4 of 13 shooting, including 1 of 7 from downtown in a 97-94 defeat. He also added two rebounds while logging 29 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Miles failed to take advantage of the start as his fellow teammate, Waiters, scored 20 points off the bench in 29 minutes of game action as well. Miles, who shot 73 percent (11 of 15) from the field prior to Wednesday's game, is known to be a streaky shooter at times and is averaging 18.3 points per game over his last three contests. At this point, it is uncertain whether or not coach Byron Scott will keep this same lineup moving forward, so we'll continue to keep an eye on that. He is worth using in deeper Fantasy formats for now.

He was also seeing 34 minutes per game during that stretch but will now likely see closer to the 15.9 minutes he was seeing as a reserve earlier in the year. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on the 25-year-old's playing time moving forward. Expectations should also be tempered a bit moving forward.
News: Coach Byron Scott changed up his starting lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Lakers as he inserted C.J. Miles into the starting lineup for the first time this season. If Miles continues his upward trend, he could be worth scooping up off the waiver wire in Fantasy Week 8 (Dec. 17-23).

Miles also posted two rebounds, an assist and a steal in the defeat.
Analysis: Miles has not gotten off to the best of starts in his first season in Cleveland as he continues to develop a role off the bench. He has played in just three of the previous five games and is averaging 8.7 points with three rebounds while shooting 40 percent over that span. The 25-year-old showed in his days with the Jazz that he can produce some low-end scoring but until he proves to be more consistent, leave Miles for the deepest of Fantasy formats.

The 25-year-old will now look to focus on getting healthy over the summer as he will be an unrestricted free agent heading into 2012-13. Keep an eye on where he winds up lacing them up next season. Miles has the ability to score when the shots are falling, but is far too inconsistent to be a regular Fantasy option in most formats. Miles only has Fantasy value in very deep formats at the moment.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles was able to return to the lineup during Saturday night's contest against the Warriors. Miles started in place of Raja Bell in the 99-92 win, finishing with four points on 2 of 5 shooting from the field. He also chipped in with three steals and one assist, while logging 17 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Miles was able to return to the lineup on Saturday, but he didn't play very well. The 24-year-old is continues to be one of the more streaky shooters in the game, which continues to limit his value. Unless he permanently earns a spot in the starting lineup, Miles should be considered merely a low-end option at this point in the season.
News: Jazz forward C.J. Miles missed Thursday's game against the Timberwolves with an illness, as coach Ty Corbin told reporters after the game he was dealing with some dizziness. Thursday was the first game Miles has missed this season.
Analysis: Miles had been a subject of some trade rumors leading up to Thursday's deadline, however he will remain with the Jazz for the foreseeable future now. Miles has seen his scoring slip to 9.4 points per game this year, and at this point he is just a low-end Fantasy option.
News:The Salt Lake Tribune reports there is little to no chance that Jazz forward C.J. Miles will be traded to Minnesota, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Miles has also been linked to trade rumors involving the Nets.
Analysis: It does appear there is a chance, however, Miles could be traded by Thursday's deadline. That could definitely boost Miles' Fantasy appeal, especially if he lands in the right situation. His scoring is down more than three points per game this season. Even if he is traded, Miles would still be more of a low-end Fantasy option initially.
News: Jazz guard C.J. Miles' shooting struggles continued during Friday night's contest against the 76ers. Miles connected on just two of his 10 shot attempts in the 104-91 defeat, finishing with eight points. He went 1 for 5 from downtown and also added five rebounds, three steals and one assist to his stat line, while logging 19 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Miles has been ice-cold for Utah so far in March. He is shooting just 28 percent from the field over his last five contests and is averaging 6.8 points over that stretch. Miles has failed to live up to expectations this season and his recent struggles are just another reason why he should be considered merely a low-end option in most formats heading into Fantasy Week 12 (March 12-18).
News: Utah small forward C.J. Miles took full advantage of the Jazz dealing with a multitude of injuries heading into Wednesday against the Rockets. Utah was missing Paul Millsap, Jamaal Tinsley and Raja Bell in the game, and Devin Harris came up with nausea during it, leaving Miles to play 27 minutes. Miles helped the Jazz dominate the Rockets as he scored a game-high 27 points. Miles went 10 of 16 from the field and hit three 3-pointers. He added one rebound.
Analysis: The Jazz needed Miles to score on Wednesday and he certainly did that for them. Unfortunately, the Jazz will get healthy soon and Miles has not been the most consistent shooter in the world. Unless this becomes a trend, Miles will continue to have just low-end Fantasy value.
News: Jazz forward C.J. Miles scored in single digits for the ninth time in the last 10 games on Sunday night against the Rockets. He finished with three points in the 101-85 loss. He went 1 for 5 from the field with his lone make coming from downtown. Miles also posted three rebounds and two blocks while playing 22 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Miles has taken a major step back after a career campaign a year ago and continues to struggle with his shooting. He is averaging 4.2 points with 2.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists in his last five contests, and is shooting just 25 percent over that span. He has shown in the past the ability to average double-digit scoring on a nightly basis so keep an eye on his progress going forward. But until he starts proving his worth on the court, keep Miles reserved in the majority of Fantasy formats.
News: Jazz G C.J. Miles had another slow scoring performance on Monday night against the Hornets. He scored just five points on 1 of 8 shooting in the 86-80 loss. He missed all four of his attempts from beyond the arc and went 3 for 5 from the charity stripe. Miles also posted two assists and two rebounds while playing 17 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Miles has scored in single digits in each of the previous three games and six of his last seven. He is averaging eight points with 2.2 assists in his last five contests, and is shooting just 42 percent over that span. After putting up a career-high 12.8 points a year ago, the 24-year-old has been very disappointing thus far but should be able to get back on track during Week 8 (Feb. 13-19). While he will play the Thunder next, he also has Washington and Houston left on the schedule for the current scoring period so continue to view Miles as a low-end option in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Jazz forward C.J. Miles was back in double figures on Tuesday night as he scored 12 points off the bench. He had a three-game hiatus in single digits. Miles shot 5 for 9 from the field, connecting on two 3-pointers. He added a block, a steal, two assists and three rebounds in his 25 minutes of action. Utah ended up losing to Indiana, 104-99.
Analysis: Miles is averaging just under 10 points a game over his last five outings. He's shooting 33.3 percent from downtown and 41 percent from the floor over that span, which is good for Fantasy owners in deeper category-based formats. Miles should be viewed as a low-end option moving forward, unless Utah gets plagued by injuries and Miles gets an increase in playing time.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles put together another nice game on Wednesday night against Los Angeles. He shot 4 for 9 form the field -- hitting two 3-pointers -- and converted 6 of his 8 foul shots en route to 16 points. He added three boards in his 21 minutes of action. Despite his efforts, the Jazz would lose to the Clippers, 107-105.
Analysis: Miles has been scoring at a good clip for the Jazz, averaging 14.2 over his last five games. He isn't doing much else though, just 1.6 rebounds and shooting 25 percent from downtown over that span. While he is not a high-end Fantasy option, Miles still holds value in deeper leagues.
News: Jazz F C.J. Miles posted double-digit scoring for the fifth time in his last six games on Wednesday night against the Raptors. He finished with 11 points on 4 of 11 shooting in the 111-106 double-overtime loss. He went 1 for 3 from downtown and made both of his free throws while playing 21 minutes off the bench. Miles also chipped in with two rebounds and a steal in the defeat.
Analysis: Miles is averaging 13.8 points and shooting 41 percent in his last five games and is starting to look like the scorer he was a year ago. He has begun to see more minutes off the bench, and his production should reflect his increased playing time. Keep an eye on his progress going forward. At this point, however, continue to view Miles as more of an option for deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Utah SF C.J. Miles came off the bench to have a big game for the Jazz in a blowout win over the Clippers on Tuesday night. Miles nearly led the team in scoring despite playing just 29 minutes as he scored 19 points on 7 of 13 shooting. Miles had a 3-pointer and added five rebounds, four steals and an assist in the solid performance for the Jazz.
Analysis: Miles has had a couple big scoring efforts on the season, but is still averaging well under 10 points per game. He gets less than 20 minutes per night on average and that severly hurts his Fantasy value. Since Miles does little outside of scoring as well, his Fantasy value remains very low-end at the moment for Utah.
News: Jazz F C.J. Miles had another poor shooting performance on Wednesday night against the Lakers. He went just 2 for 6 from the floor, finishing with four points in the 90-87 overtime loss. He missed his lone attempt from downtown and could not convert his only free throw. Miles posted two rebounds, a steal and an assist while playing 15 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Miles has gotten off to a very poor start this season and a lot of it has to do with his shooting. He is making 24 percent of his shots over his last five games, and is shooting 30 percent from the field on the year. He showed last season that he can be a double-digit scorer so keep an eye on his progress going forward. But until he starts proving his worth on the court, keep Miles on the bench in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Utah SF C.J. Miles didn't even play in the first quarter on Monday against New Orleans. By the end of the game, however, Miles had shot 5 of 12 from the field, including a 3-pointer, to score 11 points and add four rebounds in a win over the Hornets. Miles added two steals and one assist over 21 minutes.
Analysis: Miles was kept out of action in the first quarter Monday with Alec Burks playing well. Still, the veteran waited on the bench and provided a spark when called upon. That will be his role this season and unfortunately that doesn't always make him a solid Fantasy option. Miles is not worth owning in 10 or 12-team Fantasy leagues. He could become useful in deeper formats, however.
News: Utah SF C.J. Miles did not play well in the opener in Los Angeles. Denver was much more his speed Wednesday night. Miles came off the bench for 22 minutes in the defeat. He shot 4 of 9 from the field, including 3 for 4 from 3-point range, and scored 13 points. Miles added two rebounds.
Analysis: Miles played 18 minutes in the opener and shot 1 of 8 from the field for four points. He needs more nights like Wednesday. Until that happens, Miles remains a lower-end option in Fantasy leagues.
News: Jazz F C.J. Miles arrived at the Jazz practice facility Thursday confident that hed earned himself a starting role for the 2011-12 season, either at the small forward or shooting guard position. He showed up 20 pounds lighter than his listed weight from last year, getting down to 222 pounds in the offseason. "Being lighter and stronger allows me to attack the basket better," said Miles.
Analysis: Despite being a six-year veteran of the league, Miles is still just 24 years old. Last year, he scored a career high 12.8 points per game, as he found himself more involved than ever in the offense. He could be in line for an even bigger role in 2011-12, given his expectation that he will be a starter. He hasnt been a full-time starter since starting all 72 games he appeared in during the 2008-09 campaign. Miles is worthy of a late-round draft pick in Fantasy leagues, and could be considered a minor breakout candidate on Draft Day.
News: The Jazz have exercised the option on forward C.J. Miles that will keep him under contract through the 2011-12 season. Miles averaged career highs in points (12.8), rebounds (3.3) and assists (1.7) during the last season. Miles was originally selected by the Jazz in the second round of the 2005 NBA draft.
Analysis: Miles played well for the Jazz in 2010-11 and should continue to play well in 2011-12. Keep an eye on what Utah does the rest of the offseason, but Miles could be worth drafting with a late-round pick in the majority of leagues.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the Jazz have not made a decision about picking up small forward C.J. Miles' 2011-12 team option worth $3.7 million. While Miles has often expressed interest in remaining with Utah, the Jazz are expected to wait as long as possible before dealing with his contract, due to a variety of factors. Miles set career highs this season in numerous statistical categories, including average points (12.8), rebounds (3.3) and minutes (25.2). He shot just 32.2 percent behind the 3-point line, though, despite ranking second on the team in attempts (4.3). Miles started 19 games for the Jazz during 2010-11. However, he enters an offseason he has described as the most important of his career as a likely backup on Utah's depth chart.
Analysis: Miles is one of the Jazz's few remaining outside scoring threats, and has shown the ability to take over a game when hot. Miles has spent his entire six-year professional career with the Jazz, after being selected with the No. 34 overall pick during the second round of the 2005 draft. Utah appears open to picking up Miles' option. But the organization wants to watch the next month a busy period highlighted by the draft and a build up toward a likely lockout develop instead of financially being backed into a corner. Keep an eye on what happens with Miles, and if he returns to the Jazz he would be worth a late-round pick in deep leagues. If he signs elsewhere and can earn a starting spot, he could see his value rise.
News: In a down year in Utah filled with change, one bright spot was the emergence of swingman C.J. Miles. He had his best season as a pro, mainly as a scorer , and it led to him cracking the starting lineup more times than not in the second half of the season. Miles achieved career-highs in points per game (12.8), minutes, rebounds, and blocks. He tied his best mark ever in assists and steals. Miles was more effective as a starter, pouring in 15.7 points per game, and more than 18 per night when starting as a guard. He was at his best down the stretch, averaging better than 17 points per game in March, with about four rebounds and a pair of assists each night as a compliment.
Analysis: Miles was in and out of the starting lineup with so much change in Utah throughout the season from a coaching change to go along with several injuries the team dealt with. His major contribution came off of the bench, but he started and thrived in 19 games. Miles is an unrestricted free agent, but the Jazz have a team option on the 24-year-old. Though his numbers often fluctuated, we anticipate Utah hanging on to Miles. Fantasy owners drafted him in the later rounds of CBSSports.com leagues, and he outplayed the position for the most part. He should be viewed as a mid to late round option in most leagues heading into next season, in hopes his game takes the next step forward after putting up more Fantasy points than solid options like Jeff Green and Danilo Gallinari this season. Miles, who missed the season finale with a knee issue, had an MRI done Tuesday, which revealed a small, partial tear in his popliteus muscle, which attaches to the fibula. It's not expected to keep him out for the start of next season.
News: The Jazz report that guard C.J. Miles won't play in Wednesday's season finale against Denver due to a left knee injury. Miles had an MRI done on his knee Tuesday, which revealed a small, partial tear in his popliteus muscle, which attaches to the fibula.
Analysis: We hope that Miles will make a full recovery in time for the 2011-12 season, and it doesn't sound like the injury is serious since he was originally listed as doubtful after getting the results of the MRI. Miles is a potential free agent this offseason so keep an eye on what happens with his status, but he should be considered a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of leagues next year depending on where he plays. Plan on drafting Miles with a late-round pick on Draft Day.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Jazz forward C.J. Miles sat out the final 4:15 of Monday's game at New Orleans after injuring his left leg on a layup try. The Deseret News reports that Miles jammed his left knee. "It felt like a bad funny bone is what it felt like," he said, "because I jammed it into the ground so hard it felt like a shock wave (went) up, and it hurt."
Analysis: Miles will likely be considered questionable for Wednesday's season finale against Denver. If he's able to play then consider Miles a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of leagues. He's a good source of scoring when healthy but does little else.
News: After initially breaking out once he became a starter, Utah forward C.J. Miles has cooled down mightily over his last three games. The latest of which came Thursday against the Hornets, when he shot 5 of 12 from the floor on the way to a second-straight 11 point game. Miles added four rebounds, a pair of assists and a block in 22 minutes of playing time -- his lowest amount since March 5.
Analysis: Miles was in a bit of foul trouble Thursday, but it doesn't affect his shooting slump. Over the last three games, he is shooting a combined 8 of 32 from the floor (25 percent) and averaging just over 10 points each night. He scored no fewer than 12 points in each of the previous nine games before the slump began. Miles has the reputation of being a streaky shooter, and it's being expanded now that he's playing starter minutes. Fantasy owners should temper their expectations with the up-and-down scorer. Because of the fluctuation, we like Miles as a low-end option in the majority of formats.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles scored a career-high 40 points and cemented his new starting role as the Jazz cruised to a 119-104 victory Wednesday night over the Timberwolves, giving Ty Corbin his first back-to-back wins as coach. Miles shot 14 of 18 overall and 6 of 7 from 3-point range."When it rains, it pours," Miles said of shots dropping. He logged 25 points by halftime, which was just four points shy of his old career-high of 29 points back in 2008. "It's been a long time coming," said Miles. He added four rebounds and two assists for the Jazz in his 32 minutes of work. "He did a tremendous job of executing the offense," said coach Tyrone Corbin. "He didn't rush any shots ... and he put the ball on the floor some and got to the basket early."
Analysis: Miles seems comfortable in his starting role as he's playing at a very high level lately. Over his last five games he's averaging 22.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest. He's shooting 53.1 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from downtown over that span. Fantasy owners that need a hot hand to ride in the playoffs should look no further. While Miles has been a low-end forward option all season, he now seems ready to step up. Consider him a solid option in deeper formats, but could be worth taking a flier on in all leagues at this stage of the season.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles was in the starting lineup and scored 23 points to help the Jazz claim a 96-94 victory over Toronto on Wednesday. Miles, who replaced injured forward Andrei Kirilenko in the starting five, connected on 9 of 17 from the field, including 2 of 4 from 3-point range. He scored 11 of his points in the first quarter as Utah built a 31-26 lead after the first 12 minutes. Miles added seven rebounds and four assists while logging 34 minutes -- his highest total in his last eight games.
Analysis: Since the beginning of March, Miles has become a strong scoring option for the Jazz and is averaging 15.3 points per game. Wednesday was his second 20-point outing in that span as he continues to receive quality playing time. It appears the presence of rookie Derrick Favors will not eat into his minutes and Miles is now averaging 12.2 ppg. The 6-foot-6 forward could earn another start if Kirilenko is forced to miss more time so Fantasy owners should track the situation the remainder of the week. Consider Miles a mid-range option in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles scored a team-high 22 points and had six rebounds in the Jazz's 103-101 loss to Denver on Thursday night. Miles played off the bench and connected on 8 of 15 from the field and a perfect 6 for 6 from the free-throw line. His output was his highest since he racked up 22 points against Minnesota on Jan. 28. Miles also contributed two steals and an assist in 26 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Miles snapped a string of inefficient outings Thursday and scored in double figures for the first time in four games. In his four previous games, the 6-foot-6 veteran failed to make more than four shots in any game and totaled just eight fields goals in that stretch. He could lose a few minutes to newcomer Derrick Favors, but if continues to play like he did against the Nuggets, will be one of the first options off the bench for Utah. Fantasy owners should consider Mikes a mid-range option only in deeper leagues.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles might lose some playing time to rookie Derrick Favors as the season continues. In just the second game the Favors and Devin Harris played for the Jazz, Miles got just 11 minutes of court time. He didn't have a bad night shooting the ball in his limited action as he shot 3 for 6 from the field and connected on 2 of his 3 freebies at the foul line. He finished with nine points, two rebounds and an assist. Miles logged 26 minutes on Friday night in Favors' debut, but Miles scored just four points. Utah would beat the Pacers on Friday, but lose to the Pistons on Saturday, 120-116.
Analysis: Miles has gotten some extensive play at times this season with injuries on the frontcourt. With Favors on the team now, the Jazz have more size and youth. If the rookie plays well and carves out a nice role, Miles will likely see his minutes dwindle. Fantasy owners in deeper formats should keep an eye on this scenario. For now, continue to view Miles as a low-end forward option, but if his court time and production fall it may be time to jump ship.
News: The Utah Jazz announced on Monday morning that F Andrei Kirilenko (ankle) would not practice and has been ruled out for Tuesday's game at Phoenix. However, he is expected to travel with the team. C.J. Miles is likely to see an increase in playing time in his absence.
Analysis: Miles is a sleeper play for Fantasy Week 17 (Feb. 14-20) with Kirilenko banged up. Matchups against the Suns and Warriors should be high scoring and will provide him ample opportunities to produce from beyond the arc. Owners looking for a quick stopgap measure off the waiver wire should consider Miles as an alternative.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Jazz SF C.J. Miles could start over Raja Bell at the No. 2 spot soon.
Analysis: Miles is enjoying his best NBA season so far in 2010-11, averaging 12.1 points and 3.2 rebounds, both career highs. It's clear that new coach Tyrone Corbin thinks highly of Miles, who started all 72 games he played a couple of seasons ago, but wasn't nearly as involved in the offense as he is this campaign. Owners in all leagues should pay close attention to this situation over the next few games.
News: Just when Utah forward C.J. Miles was seeing his minutes dwindle, an injury to Raja Bell has given him some light. Miles scored 19 points on an 8-for-19 shooting display on Friday night against Phoenix. He shot 3 for 8 from downtown in his 36 minutes of action. Miles chipped in two assists, one steal, two blocks and six rebounds. The Jazz would lose to the Suns, 95-83, despite having an early lead.
Analysis: Miles had seen his minutes decreasing lately, but now with Bell hurt and Jerry Sloan out as coach, Miles' could be in line for more playing time. It is unclear if new coach Tyrone Corbin will mix up the rotation moving forward, but it is certainly a possibility. Over his last five games, Miles is averaging 9.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per outing. Those numbers don't give him much Fantasy value, but he's worth watching in deeper leagues. Owners should view him as a low-end option until he sees consistent playing time and produces with it.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles has seen his minutes and production decrease over his last five outings. He scored just four points on a 2-for-5 shooting display on Wednesday against Chicago. He missed his lone shot from downtown for the Jazz, but did add two blocks and one rebound in 17 minutes of action. The Jazz would eventually lose to the Bulls, 91-86, despite his teammates recording three double-doubles.
Analysis: Miles is averaging just 9.2 points and 2.8 rebounds over his last five games. He's shooting 17 for 53 (32.1 percent) over that span and has struggled from downtown, going 5 for 21 for the Jazz. While he has had some nice outings this year and been a productive Fantasy contributor, his value is decreasing rapidly. Owners may want to reserve him until he gets back into a groove for the Jazz. When he's producing, Miles is worth using as a low-end guard in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Jazz guard C.J. Miles was able to rebound from a tough shooting night in Monday's 83-78 win over the Bobcats. Miles, who shot just 2 of 11 from the field in his previous game against the Warriors, was 8 of 17 from the field against Charlotte, finishing with 20 points. He went 2 of 6 from behind the arc and also chipped in with two rebounds and a pair of assists.
Analysis: Miles has now scored over 20 points in two of his last three games, and is averaging 15.2 points over his last five. While Miles has always been a decent source for scoring, he doesn't offer much help in any other areas on the stat sheet, which limits his Fantasy value. Continue to view him as low-end Fantasy option moving forward.
News: Jazz SF C.J. Miles got his first start of the season Tuesday against the Lakers. "I'm just going to play," Miles said before the game. "I've been in every situation. I don't change the way I approach the game. I just go play." Play he did as he got 28 minutes and scored 14 points, finishing second on his team behind Deron Williams. Miles chipped in five assists, three steals and four rebounds and was able to go 2 for 4 from long range. He shot 5 of 11 overall.
Analysis: Miles was averaging 11.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 22.9 minutes this season off the bench before this start, numbers that are a nice improvement from his totals in 2009-10. The Jazz are looking for a spark at the SF spot, and if Miles provides it he could stick around in the starting rotation. Keep an eye on his totals the rest of this week before thinking about using him in Fantasy Week 15 (Jan. 31-Feb. 6) in deeper leagues.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles scored 13 points in the Jazz's 103-95 loss to New Jersey on Wednesday night. Miles struggled again from the field, hitting 4 of 12 shots -- 2 of 4 from 3-point range -- as he failed to reach 15 points for the second game in a row. Miles chipped in two steals in 27 minutes of action for Utah, which lost for the third time in four games on the road.
Analysis: After an impressive three-game stretch in which he was averaging 20.0 points, Miles has now posted two sub-par outings in a row. He has been frustratingly inconsistent all season for Utah coach Jerry Sloan -- and Fantasy owners. He continues to play off the bench and has seen his minutes drop throughout the season (he is averaging 23 MPG). Consider him a low-end option in deeper leagues.
News: Jazz guard C.J. Miles scored 14 points in the fourth quarter on Wednesday. He would play a key role in Utah's 131-125 win over New York. It always helps when C.J. makes a few easy shots early in the game, Jazz coach Jerry Sloan told the Salt Lake Tribune. He was active tonight. He played well defensively and got involved, and when that happens, it helps his game. Miles would shoot 10 for 16 from the floor and knocked down four 3-pointers. His production counteracted Bill Walker and Shawne Williams scoring surge. I couldnt just hang around and let him save his energy for defense, Miles said of Walker. I definitely had a little chip on my shoulder because of the way they were both scoring. I was trying to make them guard me, too.
Analysis: Miles is averaging 11.6 points, 1.0 assist and 3.4 boards per game over his last five outings. He's shooting 38 percent (8 for 21) from downtown over that span. Miles has been up and down this year for Utah, which makes his Fantasy value low. Owners should continue to view him as a low-end guard option in deeper formats.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Jazz coach Jerry Sloan has considered starting C.J. Miles or Gordon Hayward over Andrei Kirilenko. Sloan said that it is likely the Jazz will remain with the same starting lineup for now.
Analysis: Miles scored 16 points with five rebounds in just 21 minutes on Jan. 8 at Houston. The Jazz continue to get mixed and inconsistent results out of their swing spots and Sloan says that he is not convinced that a change will solve matters. Expect more inconsistency going forward and we recommend avoiding all parties until somebody can emerge consistently.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles tallied 16 points and five rebounds to help the Jazz earn a 103-99 victory over Houston on Saturday night. Miles knocked down 6 of his 11 shots from the field, including 2 of 5 from 3-point range, to post his highest-scoring game in his last six outings. He did, however, struggle to hold onto the ball and committed four turnovers.
Analysis: Miles is contributing a solid season for Utah and is posting 11.6 points per game, his highest output in his six seasons in the league. He receives decent minutes and takes advantage of his opportunities on the court to average 40.8 percent from the field. Consider him a low-end Fantasy option with added value in deeper leagues.
News: Utah guard C.J. Miles suited up for the Jazz Monday against the Detroit Pistons. Miles had been sidelined with the flu prior to Monday's game. He returned to play well as he scored 12 points in 17 minutes. He shot 4 of 9 from the field, including going 2 for 5 from 3-point range, and added two assists and two rebounds. He also had a steal.
Analysis: Miles just got over being sick and was expected to be at less than 100 percent health. If he was it didn't show on Monday. The backup guard is averaging 12.1 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game this season and has connected on 43 3-point baskets in his first 31 games. While Miles has potential, he's only worth using in deeper Fantasy leagues right now.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports that C.J. Miles missed Sunday's practice as he continues to deal with the flu. He is considered day-to-day.
Analysis: Miles is questionable for Monday's game against Detroit and is likely to be a game-time decision. He is having a good year for the Jazz, posting career highs in points (12.1) and rebounds (3.3), but he is looking like an injury risk for the upcoming scoring period in Fantasy Week 11 (Jan. 3-9). Healthy alternatives are advised where possible, but it does help that the Jazz are slated for a full four-game week.
News: Jazz F C.J. Miles was expected to return for Saturday night's game against the Grizzlies, but he remained out due to the flu and has missed three straight games. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, he will be a game-time decision for Monday's game against the Pistons.
Analysis: Miles is having a good year for the Jazz, posting career highs in points (12.1) and rebounds (3.3), but he is looking like an injury risk for the upcoming scoring period. Hopefully the extra day of rest on Sunday will give him enough time to get back to 100 percent, but Fantasy owners should check back before setting their lineups for Week 11 (Jan. 2-9). While Miles has potential, he's only worth using in deeper Fantasy leagues when healthy.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles will return to the lineup in Saturday's game against Memphis. Miles had been out with the flu and missed the Jazz's previous two games.
Analysis: Miles is having a good year for the Jazz, posting career highs in points (12.1) and rebounds (3.3). Unfortunately, his absence hurt his opportunity of improving his minutes. While Miles has potential, he's only worth using in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles missed his second straight game on Thursday night as he continues to deal with flu-like symptoms. He missed his first game of the season on Wednesday night.
Analysis: Miles is having a good year for the Jazz as he's posting career highs in points (12.1) and rebounds (3.3). Unfortunately him being out of action is taking away from his chances of improving his minutes. While Miles has potential, he's only worth using in deeper Fantasy leagues -- when healthy. Continue to monitor him through the weekend.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles (illness) could not play in the team's game against the Clippers on Wednesday night. Miles was considered a game-time decision and missed his first game of the season. He is day to day.
Analysis: Miles is having a quality season and posting career highs in points (12.1) and rebounds (3.3). With Andrei Kirilenko hobbled with a back injury, Miles would have seen more playing time Wednesday but he is not at full strength himself. Continue to view Miles as an option only in deeper Fantasy leagues or category-based formats.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Jazz F C.J. Miles is considered a game-time decision for Wednesday's game due to an illness.
Analysis: With Andrei Kirilenko banged up, Miles stands to see an increase in playing time. However, since he is clearly not 100 percent we recommend avoiding him where possible. When healthy, he offers cheap help in 3-point shooting.
News: Jazz SF C.J. Miles saw 25 minutes on the floor on Monday as Utah easily handled the Cleveland Cavaliers. Miles led the Jazz with 22 points off the bench on 8 of 16 shooting. He went 4 for 10 from 3-point range in the performance and chipped in with five assists, four rebounds and a steal.
Analysis: Miles had his biggest scoring total in his last five games on Monday but has been over 20 points in two of those contests. He's giving Fantasy owners a decent number of rebounds, steals and 3-pointers off the bench and deserves to be active in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles had a poor performance on Friday against New Orleans, but didn't let them stop him from tossing up 16 more shots on Saturday. Miles shot 6 for 16 -- going 2 for 5 from downtown -- and hitting both his foul shots en route to 16 points off the bench. He added a season-high seven rebounds and added two assists. The Jazz would rally to beat the Bucks, 95-86, after trailing by double digits for a ninth time this season.
Analysis: Over his last five games, Miles has turned up his scoring. He's averaging 15.4 points, 4.0 boards and 1.8 assists during that span. Only one of those outings saw him score in single digits. Despite not starting, Miles logs a lot of minutes of the bench. He is a good source of points and 3-pointers, which makes him worth owning in deeper category-based Fantasy leagues. Utah plays two games in Week 9 (Dec. 20-26), so it may be wise to find an alternative in those leagues where he's owned.
News: Utah SF C.J. Miles chipped in 20 points off the bench on Monday in a win over Golden State. Miles was over 20 points for the third time in his last five games as he shot 9 of 14 from the field with two 3-pointers in his 28 minutes on the floor. Miles added six rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in the performance.
Analysis: Miles is becoming one of Utah's primary scoring options when he's on the floor and he's been getting 25 minutes per game over his last five. He's putting up 16.8 points per contest over that span with 2.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.4 steals and almost two 3-pointers a night. The way he's been playing lately, Fantasy owners should be using him in most deeper formats. That said, he could go back to putting minimal figures in an instant.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles finished with a season-high 26 points as the Jazz secured a season sweep of Orlando with a 117-105 victory on Friday night. Miles, who scored 19 of his points in the fourth quarter, finished 9 of 13 from the field -- including 4 for 6 from 3-point range. "I felt good," said Miles, who recorded the highest-scoring fourth quarter by a Jazz player this season. "I moved around and they were in a zone, which allowed me to see the open shots." Miles also added an assist and rebound for Utah.
Analysis: Since his Nov. 20 game when he recorded seven 3-pointers, Miles has been struggling from long range recently. He entered Friday's game just 7 for his last 22 from beyond the arc before registering his first four-trey outing since Nov. 20. With his inconsistencies from long range and minimal contributions in other areas, Miles should only warrant Fantasy ownership in deeper leagues.
News: Utah SF C.J. Miles had a big game off the bench Monday during a win over Memphis. Miles played a big part in the win as he scored 20 points on 7 of 14 shooting over 29 minutes. Miles went 3 for 7 from long range in the win and added three assists, two rebounds, two blocks and two steals in the performance.
Analysis: Miles has some good games like he did on Monday, but can score in single digits the next night on horrendous shooting and minimal minutes. Miles is inconsistent for Utah and therefore only should be active in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Utah SF C.J. Miles didn't need seven 3-pointers to get to 20 points on Monday against the Kings. Just gone game removed from going 7 for 10 from long range and scoring 25 points against the Trail Blazers, Miles played 24 minutes and scored 20 against Sacramento. He shot 8 of 13 for the second-straight game but went just 1 for 3 from long range. Miles added four assists, four rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
Analysis: Miles is getting more minutes lately and has really caught fire for the Jazz. He's shot 16 for 26 in his last two games for a total of 45 points and is getting a solid number of rebounds with that. His ability to shoot from deep makes him a solid Fantasy option in deeper leagues as long as he keeps getting minutes.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles got hot late in Saturday's game at Portland as he was a big part of the Jazz's comeback victory. Miles shot 8 for 13 from the field -- 7 for 10 from behind the 3-point arc -- and hit both of his foul shots in the 103-94 win. "(The basket) looked as big as me throwing a rock in a lake," Miles said. "Only once or twice since I have been in the NBA have I been able to shoot the ball and just start backpedaling. That's how I felt in the second half." He scored 17 of his season-high 25 points in the final quarter and made a career-high seven 3-pointers. He chipped in five rebounds, an assist and a steal in his 30 minutes of court time. But he would also commit five of his team's 18 turnovers on Saturday.
Analysis: Miles had been dealing with a strained back, but showed no signs of being hampered by any injury. His back may be sore from carrying his teammates, but that is about it. Miles emerging as a solid Fantasy option and is a key component of Utah's bench. He's having a career year for the Jazz and as the season progresses, his Fantasy value should continue to rise. Watch him for now, but in the deepest of category-based leagues, Miles would be a nice addition off the waiver wire.
News: After leaving his previous outing with a strained back, Jazz F C.J. Miles returned to action Friday night against the Spurs. He played 22 minutes off the bench, scoring 11 points on 5 of 11 shooting in the 94-82 loss. Miles went 1 for 3 from downtown and also chipped in with three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Analysis: Miles, who visited a chiropractor Thursday, did not miss a game for Utah and played his usual 20-plus minutes on Friday night. While he has not matched the 21 points he had in the season opener, the 23-year-old has scored scored in double figures 10 times this season and is averaging three rebounds per contest. He is emerging as a viable Fantasy option in deeper leagues but since he doesn't play much more than 25 minutes per game, Miles remains more of a low-end option.
News: Jazz SF C.J. Miles, who left Wednesday's game with a strained back and visited a chiropractor Thursday, is probable for Friday's game against the Spurs, according to the team's official website.
Analysis: Miles has been consistently scoring in double figures off the bench and is emerging as a viable Fantasy option in deeper leagues. He doesn't play much more than 25 minutes per game, though, which limits his upside.
News: Jazz SF C.J. Miles, who left Wednesday's game with a strained back, is visiting a chiropractor Thursday and won't practice with the team, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. He's a game-time decision for Friday's game against the Spurs.
Analysis: Miles had an off night Wednesday, and the back injury is surely to blame. He had scored at least 12 points in four of his previous five games. He has proven to be a reliable option off the bench, but he doesn't play much more than 25 minutes per game, making him just a low-end option in Fantasy.
News: Jazz F C.J. Miles left Wednesday's game against the Nets with a strained back and did not return. He played just eight minutes and was an ice-cold 1 for 7 from the field. Miles had scored at least 13 points in his three previous games.
Analysis: The back likely had everything to do with the icy shooting for Miles, who has been a reliable double-digit scorer off the bench for Utah. Consider him day to day going forward. He is a potential stopgap measure off the waiver wire in deeper standard leagues, but little else when healthy because he does no more than score in the low-to-mid teens.
News: Jazz G Raja Bell is listed as a game-time decision for Monday's game against Oklahoma City, according to the team's official website. He is dealing with a strained left adductor. C.J. Miles could be in line for a boost in playing time as a result.
Analysis: Miles is averaging 28.4 minutes per game off the bench over the last five games. He is offering around 10 points per game with good steals potential and a few boards and dimes per game, but remains just a stopgap measure for deeper formats.
News: Jazz F C.J. Miles had another productive game coming off the bench on Saturday night against the Bobcats. He scored 14 points on 4 of 13 shooting in the 96-95 win. Miles, who played 26 minutes, went 1 for 3 from downtown and made all five of his free-throw attempts. He also chipped in with six rebounds, three assists and two steals in the victory.
Analysis: Miles has been playing well lately and has scored in double figures six times this season. He is averaging 10.2 points with 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists on the year while serving as the Jazz first guy off the bench. He is a streaky shooter but can put up some solid totals on nights he is on. Keep an eye on his progress moving forward but Miles should only be active in deeper leagues heading into Week 4 (Nov. 15-21).
News: Jazz guard C.J. Miles cooled off a bit in Tuesday's 116-114 overtime win over the Heat. Miles saw 29 minutes off the bench and had 12 points on 5 of 14 shooting from the floor. He missed all six of his 3-point attempts, but did chip in with four rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block in the victory.
Analysis: Miles has been a bit inconsistent this season, but continues to see decent minutes off the bench for the Jazz. He has the ability to light up the scoreboard on any given night, but can be extremely streaky. As the first man off the Utah bench, Miles is someone who Fantasy owners should keep an eye on moving forward. However, he should only be starting in deeper leagues at this point.
News: Jazz forward C.J. Miles has been hot in the last two games, and it's garnering the attention of coach Jerry Sloan. It seems like he will be in a direct competition with Andrei Kirilenko for minutes at the 3-spot. On Wednesday, he made yet another case by shooting an efficient 7 of 12, including 5 of 6 from downtown, in a win over the Raptors. His 19 points is his second-straight near 20-point effort. Miles also pulled down three rebounds, added one steal and blocked a shot on the defensive end.
Analysis: The Jazz expected big minutes from Miles after a good preseason, and he has seen 25 minutes in each of the last two games. Kirileno played 27 minutes on Wednesday. He remains a sleeper in all Fantasy leagues, regardless of format.
News: Following reports earlier in the week that Jazz coach Jerry Sloan was considering making a change at small forward, C.J. Miles will remain on the bench for Wednesday's game against the Raptors, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. Andrei Kirilenko will remain the starter.
Analysis: The Jazz were expecting Miles to play a big role off the bench after his impressive preseason, and he finally delivered with 21 points in 25 minutes Sunday. His role makes him vulnerable to inconsistency, but he's worth watching in case those 21-point efforts become more common. He'll become even more of a sleeper if he eventually moves into the starting lineup.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Jazz coach Jerry Sloan told reporters on Sunday that he considering making a change at small forward. He would insert C.J. Miles into the starting lineup over Andrei Kirilenko. However, the move is not yet imminent. The report notes that Kirilenko is currently starting because he performed well in that role last season. However, Miles' ability to space the floor could move him into the role.
Analysis: The Jazz are looking for a spark after falling in each of their first two games of the season. Miles has only scored four points in two games and does not have the diversified potential of AK-47 for category leagues. However, a boost in playing time and touches could make him a sleeper for cheap help in deep leagues. His production has never stood out in any particular category.
News: Jazz F C.J. Miles (ankle) was able to play in Wednesday's regular season opener in Denver. He played 14 minutes off the bench, but was poor with his shooting. He was 0 for 4 and finished with only two points, tow rebounds and an assist.
Analysis: Miles will play backup minutes behind Andrei Kirilenko, who did not get off to a great start himself. He has very limited upside, but can find himself playing decent minutes down the line. At the moment, he should not be active in any Fantasy league.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Jazz F C.J. Miles (ankle) was able to go through a full practice on Sunday. Miles was hurt on a hard fall in Friday's preseason finale.
Analysis: The fact that Miles is back at practice is a great sign that he will be ready for Wednesday's opener in Denver. The Jazz have announced their starting lineup entering the regular season and Miles is going to be coming off the bench, limiting his already restricted Fantasy appeal.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles went down hard after a layup attempt in Friday's preseason finale versus Sacramento. He limped too the bench and had his right ankle re-taped, but would not return to action. He is listed as day to day with a sprained right ankle. He finished with two points on a 1-for-6 shooting performance. He added one steal in his nine minutes of action.
Analysis: It was reported earlier in the week that Miles was beat out by Andrei Kirilenko for a starting spot, which hurts Miles Fantasy value. Despite playing well during the preseason, coach Jerry Sloan prefers having Miles come off the bench. Miles will be a role player for Utah and provide some points off the bench, but not enough to warrant much Fantasy attention. If he gets hot during the regular season, or earns a starting spot, he'd be worth a look in deeper leagues.
News: Utah SF Andrei Kirilenko appears to have beaten out C.J. Miles for the starting small forward spot for the Jazz this regular season, reports the Salt Lake Tribune on Monday.
Analysis: Miles started two preseason games and averaged 13.2 points, 3.2 boards, 1.7 steals and an assist per game over 22.7 minutes in six contests. By all indications, he played better than did Kirilenko. Still, coach Jerry Sloan prefers Miles off the bench. He could still be the more productive player. While he'll be a nice role player for Utah, we don't recommend drafting Miles this season. Owners should wait and see if he gets hot during the season and then he may be worth picking up in daily Fantasy leagues.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles led the Jazz with 20 points in their preseason win on Saturday against the Clippers. He logged 25 minutes off the bench and registered two boards, one assist and went 7 for 15 from the field. Miles also hit all four of his foul shots and nailed two 3-pointers.
Analysis: Entering Saturday's contest, Miles was averaging 11 points and 2.8 rebounds per game for the Jazz. He averaged 9.9 points and 2.7 boards per game over 63 games last year but averaged 14.4 points, 2.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds in nine playoff games for Utah. While he'll be a nice role player for Utah, we don't recommend drafting Miles this season. Owners should wait and see if he gets hot during the season and then he may be worth picking up in daily Fantasy leagues.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles was afforded 20 minutes off the bench on Monday night in preseason action against the Blazers. Miles shot 5 of 7 from the field and went 1 of 2 from long range as he scored 14 points. He added one steal and one assist in the game and turned the ball over twice.
Analysis: Miles scored seven points in his preseason opener over 15 minutes on the floor. He averaged 9.9 points and 2.7 boards per game over 63 games last year but averaged 14.4 points, 2.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds in nine playoff games for Utah. Miles is not really a recommended draft pick but is someone who could earn Fantasy viability at some points during the season.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said at the team's media day that new addition Raja Bell will compete with C.J. Miles for the starting shooting guard job. Bell was added by the Jazz in the offseason after having played with Utah from 2003 to 2005.
Analysis: Miles averaged 14.4 points, 2.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds in nine playoff games for Utah. A lot of that had to do with the absence of Andrei Kirilenko, but Fantasy owners should keep these numbers in mind in case he were to be in line for big minutes this year.
News: Jazz F C.J. Miles averaged 14.4 points, 2.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds in nine playoff games for Utah. He scored at least 15 points in five of those games. Miles had averaged just 9.9 points per game during the regular season.
Analysis: Miles saw an increase in playing time of about 10 minutes per game thanks to the absence of Andrei Kirilenko for the first seven games of the playoff run due to a calf injury. Expect Miles to be somewhere in between next season, making him little more than waiver wire fodder. However, given the chance to play 30-plus minutes per game Fantasy owners should remember these numbers.
News: Jazz F C.J. Miles had nine points with five rebounds and four assists in Monday's game against the Knicks. He is averaging 12.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists in his last five games.
Analysis: Miles is seeing a boost in minutes and touches with Andrei Kirilenko sidelined. Kirilenko is currently listed as day to day, however, so his minor Fantasy spike could be about to end.
News: Jazz F C.J. Miles had 10 points with three assists and a rebound in Saturday's game at Washington. He is averaging 14.2 points in his last five games.
Analysis: Miles is seeing a boost in minutes and touches with Andrei Kirilenko sidelined. Kirilenko has been ruled out for at least one of the team's upcoming three games and Miles could be counted upon as a starter in deeper leagues, but beware the return of AK-47 at some point during the week.
News: Utah forward C.J. Miles has bettered his point total in three straight games culminating with Monday's 23-point effort in a win over Boston. Miles shot 8 of 16 from the field and hit two 3-pointers in the game and added three rebounds and a steal.
Analysis: Miles has scored 17, 19 and 23 points in his last three games and has hit five 3-pointers in his last two. Miles is playing almost 33 minutes per game of late and is really responding with big performances, at least in his last three. Should this continue, he'd be a must-add in deeper Fantasy leagues. You might want to pick him up now as he's available in 88 percent of leagues.
News: Utah SF C.J. Miles had a monster performance on Tuesday night to help the Jazz top the Bulls in Chicago. Miles played just 19 minutes but shot 9 of 12, including six 3-pointers, to score 26 points off the bench. Miles added two steals and a block in the game.
Analysis: Miles has scored in double figures in four of his last five games but Tuesday was another level. He's been a fantastic cheap source of 3-pointers for the Jazz and Fantasy owners in deeper leagues but until he sees more playing time, his value will not be for most formats.
News: Jazz F C.J. Miles scored 15 points with five rebounds and three assists Thursday night in Phoenix. He added two threes and a steal in 27 minutes off the bench. He has scored in double figures in three of his last four games.
Analysis: Miles is not in a situation to contribute on a regular basis due to erratic playing time off the bench. Miles can play 30 minutes one night and then 15 the next. Consider him a stopgap measure for deeper leagues, but he should not be a consistent starter in Fantasy.
News: Jazz F C.J. Miles had six points and six rebounds with an assist in Monday's game at the Clippers. It snapped a string of back-to-back double-digit scoring performances by Miles.
Analysis: Miles is averaging just 8.8 points per game over his last five games. He is averaging 25.2 minutes per contest and is not a very strong Fantasy option. Leave him on the waiver wire until further notice in most formats.
News: Utah SF C.J. Miles had a great game on Friday in a win at Golden State. Miles came off the bench for 25 minutes to score 16 points on 6 of 11 shooting with four 3-pointers. Miles added three assists, four rebounds and a block.
Analysis: Miles played well on Friday but that isn't consistent with his normal numbers. He's averaging 7.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and a three per game over his last five and that simply isn't enough production to warrant using him outside the deepest Fantasy leagues.
News: Utah SF C.J. Miles scored 17 points on Monday in a win over Dallas. Miles shot 6 for 14 from the field and hit a three. He added five rebounds and a steal.
Analysis: Miles has scored in double figures in his last two games and is seeing a slight boost in minutes. That said, until this happens consistently, Miles only has low-end Fantasy appeal.
News: Jazz forward C.J. Miles saw double-digit minutes for the first time in three games on Friday against the Kings. Miles made the 17 minutes count as he scored 12 points on 5 of 9 shooting with a three. He added four rebounds and an assist.

News: Utah SF C.J. Miles scored 19 points on Saturday in a win over Milwaukee. Miles came off the bench for 23 minutes and shot 8 of 11 with two threes. He added two steals.
Analysis: Miles has only managed double figures in scoring in three of his eight games played in January and has been removed from the starting lineup for the last three games as Andrei Kirilenko returned to the starting lineup. Miles is inconsistent and that buries him as a low-end Fantasy option.
News: After being sidelined Monday with an illness, Utah F C.J. Miles returned to action and scored six points Thursday night in a 97-96 victory over Cleveland. In 15 minutes of play, Miles, was 3 of 8 from the field with two assists and three rebounds.
Analysis: Miles can chip in decent games from time to time, like the 24 points he had against Memphis on Jan. 6, but he remains highly erratic. He is at best a stopgap measure in deeper leagues when fully healthy.
News: Utah SF C.J. Miles missed Monday's game with an illness after leaving the shootaround after getting sick. Miles missed the game against the Heat and is day to day.
Analysis: Miles can chip in decent games from time to time, like the 24 points he had against Memphis on Jan. 6, but he remains highly erratic. He is at best a stopgap measure in deeper leagues when fully healthy.

He made 10 of 16 shots, including three 3-pointers, after shooting only 37 percent over the prior five games.
Analysis: Miles missed the first two months of the season with a thumb injury, but Fantasy owners didn't really notice his absence. He can score in double figures from time to time, but his output is too inconsistent for him to matter outside of deeper leagues.
News: Jazz SF C.J. Miles caused a stir when he picked off a pass from Darius Songaila and none of the Hornets even bothered to try and stop him. Miles saw he was all alone and took time for a little showboating with a 360-degree dunk that got a loud response from the Jazz fans. Miles finished the game with 15 points, one rebound, one assist and two steals in 22 minutes. He was in foul trouble and finished with five personals.
Analysis: Miles missed the first two months of the season with a thumb injury. He averaged 8.4 points in December, but also looked like a player that was still getting his conditioning under control. He has since moved into the starting lineup and is posting some nice stat lines. But until we see more consistency out of Miles, he remains a low-end Fantasy flier.
News: Jazz SF C.J. Miles managed just two points on 1 of 9 shooting in Wednesday's loss to the Heat.
Analysis: Miles is starting for Wesley Matthews right now, but this performance won't exactly give his coach a lot of confidence. He remains an option in just deeper leagues for now but is worth keeping a close eye on.
News: According to the St. Louis Tribune, Wesley Matthews will be replaced in the starting lineup by C.J. Miles. Sloan played Miles ahead of Matthews in the second half of Saturdays victory over Charlotte and made the change to his starting lineup official at Mondays pregame shootaround at Amway Arena. "You see a lot of young guys having to adjust and do the different things in the game," Sloan said. "Youve got to be able to do that. C.J. has the ability to do that probably a little bit better because hes been here five years. Wes has been here two months."
Analysis: Sloan cited Miles experience and length as two factors in the decision, with Miles possibly having an edge over Matthews in battling bigger guards in the post as well as rebounding from the wing position. Miles had 20 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists Saturday at Charlotte in 35 minutes of action. He was a starter with limited success all of last season, but if he were to see 30-plus minutes, he could become an interesting sleeper.
News: One day after scoring 14 points in 29 minutes off the bench, Jazz SF C.J. Miles scored 22 points on 9 of 17 shooting, including 3 of 7 from 3-point range, in 28 minutes off the bench Thursday against the Magic.
Analysis: Injuries have whittled the Jazz roster down to nine players, allowing Miles to play more minutes than usual. He'll score in double figures from time to time, but his part-time role will make his production inconsistent. You can leave him on waivers in most leagues.

Analysis: Miles had just returned from the finger injury after missing three games, but he missed the last two games of the regular season. Miles averaged 9.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 72 games this season. He remains a low-end Fantasy guard heading into the 2009-10 season even if he plays against the Lakers and posts outstanding stats.

Miles averaged 9.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 72 games this season. It was career highs across the board for the Dallas native. Still, Miles is going to be a low-end Fantasy flier on Draft Day 2009.

News: Utah SF C.J. Miles missed his third game in a row on Friday against the Spurs due to a dislocated left index finger. He is considered questionable for Saturday's game against the Warriors.
Analysis: Miles is not a player that Fantasy owners are missing while he sits with this injury. Continue ignoring him in Fantasy.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports Jazz forward C.J. Miles will miss his third consecutive game with a dislocated left index finger, with Andrei Kirilenko starting in his place Friday at the Spurs.
Analysis: Keep Miles reserved in all leagues. When healthy, he has minimal Fantasy value.
News: Jazz SF C.J. Miles (finger) did not return to the lineup Wednesday against the Mavs. He has missed the last two games and remains questionable for Friday against the Spurs.
Analysis: Miles is nearly averaging 10 points per game as a starter for Utah and is an efficient shooter when active. But since he isn't an elite scorer and doesn't do much else, Miles has very little Fantasy appeal.
News: Utah SF C.J. Miles was scratched from the lineup Sunday night in New Orleans because of a dislocated left finger. The injury occurred Friday night during Utah's loss at home to Minnesota. Miles sat out the second half. Andrei Kirilenko started in Miles' place. Miles is considered questionable for April 8 at Dallas.
Analysis: Miles, who has started all 71 games in which he has played this season, has been averaging 9.2 points. He is only a low-end option when healthy and should be benched for the upcoming scoring period as an injury risk.
News: Utah G C.J. Miles left Friday's game against the Timberwolves at halftime because of a dislocated finger on his left hand. He did not return. He is considered questionable for Sunday's game against the Hornets.
Analysis: Miles went off for 19 points at Denver on Tuesday in one of his better performances in a good while. Unfortunately he has the dislocated finger now, an ailment that cannot help him score more points. He remains only a low-end option when healthy. He will be considered an injury risk if he is unable to play on Sunday.
News: Jazz F C.J. Miles had six points with two assists and two rebounds in Saturday's game in Miami. He has been held under 10 points in three of his last five games.
Analysis: Miles goes hot-and-cold with his scoring and he has really been affected since the return of Andrei Kirilenko from injury. Miles only has some mild appeal in deeper leagues as a possible stopgap in an absolute pinch.
News: Jazz F C.J. Miles had five points with two assists, a rebound and a steal in Sunday's game in Toronto. Miles is averaging just 4.6 points over his last five games.
Analysis: Miles goes hot-and-cold with his scoring and he has really been affected since the return of Andrei Kirilenko from injury. Miles only has some mild appeal in deeper leagues as a possible stopgap in an absolute pinch.
News: Jazz SF C.J. Miles hit just 4-of-10 field goals in 13 minutes on his way to eight points during Monday's game against the Hawks. Miles was held to under 20 minutes as he was in foul trouble for most of the night. He has managed just 17 points in his last three games after hitting double figures in his previous three.
Analysis: Miles goes hot-and-cold with his scoring and he has really been affected since the return of Andrei Kirilenko from injury. Miles only has some mild appeal in deeper leagues as a possible stopgap in an absolute pinch.
News: Jazz F C.J. Miles had 17 points, two rebounds and two assists in Wednesday's game against the Lakers, the team's final game prior to the All-Star break. He played 31 minutes for the second straight game with Andrei Kirilenko still out due to injury.
Analysis: Miles has played a bigger role with AK-47 out, but the Jazz expect him back shortly after the All-Star break. That makes Miles someone to avoid adding off the waiver wire because he will likely return to his season averages (9.9 points, 2.5 rebounds 1.6 assists) once the team gets back to full strength. He only has some mild appeal in deeper leagues as a possible stopgap in an absolute pinch.
News: Utah SF C.J. Miles returned from a two-game absence due to bronchitis on Sunday in a loss to Golden State. Miles played 31 minutes and shot 3-for-8 for 10 points. He added two threes, seven rebounds and two steals.
Analysis: Miles will bring your Fantasy team around 10 points per game and he has the ability to rebound and shoot threes. That said, he's just a low-end Fantasy player as of now. Utah plays just once in Week 16 (Feb. 9-15) because of the All-Star break so you should definitely keep him inactive.
News: The Deseret News reports that C.J. Miles missed a second straight game Friday in Sacramento. He is suffering from a case of bronchitis. Miles remained behind at the Jazz's Sacramento hotel, and did not travel with the team to Arco Arena.
Analysis: Unless Miles is able to get back into the mix before Sunday's game at Golden State, he will be an injury risk for the upcoming scoring period. Even if he does return, he will only be a low-end option even while getting added playing time with Andrei Kirilenko out.
News: Utah SF C.J. Miles sat out of Thursday's game against the Mavericks with what the Salt Lake Tribune says is an upper respiratory infection. He remains questionable for Thursday's game at Sacramento.
Analysis: Unless Miles is able to get back into the mix before Sunday's game at Golden State, he will be an injury risk for the upcoming scoring period. Even if he does return, he will only be a low-end option.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports Thursday the Jazz might be without forward C.J. Miles against Dallas after he was sent to the doctor with an upper respiratory infection and is listed as questionable for the game.
Analysis: Miles has minimal Fantasy value when healthy, so keep him reserved in daily leagues against the Mavericks and hope he can return soon.
News: Jazz F C.J. Miles had three points and two assists in 20 minutes as the starting small forward Monday against Charlotte. Miles was once again starting in place of injured Andrei Kirilenko. He had scored in double figures in each of his three previous games.
Analysis: Miles hit a bit of a road block with this effort on Monday, but the production should still be there for the most part while Kirilenko remains sidelined for at least the next couple of weeks. He had gotten at least 10 shots in three games prior to this clunker and can make a decent stopgap in larger formats. He offers double-digit scoring on a semi-regular basis, some cheap rebounds and an assist or so per game with some light three-point shooting.
News: Jazz SF C.J. Miles was inserted back into the Jazz starting lineup on Friday after missing three games with an ankle injury but played less than 19 minutes and scored only two points on 1-of-5 shooting. Miles also grabbed three rebounds and handed out two assists in the game, turning the ball over twice.
Analysis: Miles missed three games but Fantasy owners didn't miss him all that much as he is owned in only seven percent of leagues. He is not a recommended Fantasy option so leave him on waivers.
News: Jazz SF C.J. Miles was a game-time decision for Wednesday's game against the Thunder in Oklahoma City but was scratched from the game with an ankle injury. He remains questionable for Friday's game at Memphis.
Analysis: Miles has now missed three games with this current injury but should be back in the lineup any day now. No worries either way because he is not a recommended Fantasy option.
News: The Deseret News reports that C.J. Miles increased his rehab activity in practice Tuesday. He is listed as a game-time decision for Wednesday's game in Oklahoma City.
Analysis: Miles has been kept out the past two games. He is averaging nearly 10 points per game, but is not a recommended option in most Fantasy leagues at this time.
News: Utah guard C.J. Miles could not play in his second straight game Monday night against Indiana with a sprained ankle suffered last Wednesday against the Hornets.
Analysis: Miles was re-evaluated Thursday and the sprain was rated moderate with minimal swelling, but he was still kept out the past two games. He is averaging nearly 10 points per game, but is not a recommended option in most Fantasy leagues. He is expected to return at some point this week.
News: Utah guard C.J. Miles could not play, as expected, in Saturday's game against Detroit because of a sprained ankle. Miles twisted his right ankle when he landed on James Posey's foot after making a jump shot late in the third quarter of the Jazz's win over New Orleans on Wednesday night.
Analysis: Miles was re-evaluated Thursday and the sprain was rated moderate with minimal swelling, but he was still listed as doubtful for the Pistons game on Saturday. He is averaging nearly 10 points per game, but is not a recommended option in most Fantasy leagues. He is expected to return at some point next week.
News: Utah guard C.J. Miles is listed as doubtful for Saturday's game against Detroit because of a sprained ankle.
News: Utah G C.J. Miles sprained his right ankle when he came down from making a jump shot late in the third quarter of Wednesday's win over the Hornets. Miles started the game and played 23 minutes before getting hurt. He scored eight points.
Analysis: Miles is averaging 9.6 points, two boards and 1.8 assists per game over his last five contests. He's good for some threes every now and again but is mostly just a very low-end Fantasy player that gets limited minutes, when healthy.
News: Utah Jazz forward Paul Millsap will miss seven to 10 days because of a sprained knee ligament. He injured his left knee Tuesday night in Milwaukee, but returned to play the second half in a brace. Millsap is scheduled for another MRI on Monday. Kosta Koufos got a boost in his absence Friday against Dallas, scoring a career high 18 points with eight rebounds. C.J. Miles got the start at power forward and contributed 14 points with two rebounds.
Analysis: Millsap has been starting for Carlos Boozer, who has missed 18 straight games because of a strained quad tendon. Boozer's return is still not eminent and Fantasy owners should scurry to add Koufos off the waiver wire if he's available. He can be a short-term stopgap. Miles is also a decent add in larger leagues as a short-term replacement option.
News:C.J. Miles, who continues to start at small forward for the Jazz, slumped to five points Tuesday at Minnesota after scoring 20 points Saturday against the Suns. He played only 16 minutes. He has scored less than 10 points in four of his last five games.
Analysis: Miles starts, but Andrei Kirilenko remains the principle small forward in Utah. Don't count on Miles for consistent Fantasy production and leave him on waivers except in deeper leagues.
News: Jazz F C.J. Miles scored 25 points Wednesday against Milwuakee, his second straight game with 20-plus points. He is averaging 16 points over his last five games.
Analysis: Miles has gotten a chance for a bigger role while Deron Williams has been sidelined due to injury. He's worth scooping up in deeper formats, but know that he could see a lesser offensive role when Williams returns sometime in the near future.
News: Jazz SF C.J. Miles, playing a solid 25 minutes Monday against the Suns, scored a season-high 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting. He also had two rebounds and two assists.
Analysis: Even though he starts, Miles usually doesn't play so many minutes, especially with Andrei Kirilenko coming off the bench. Go ahead and leave him on waivers unless these 20-point games become a trend.
News:The Deseret News is reporting that Deron Williams went for a second opinion Thursday on his sprained left ankle and learned that his timetable for returning would be four to six weeks as opposed to the minimum two weeks that the Jazz originally set after the Oct. 18 injury. "They just said two weeks because they knew I didn't want to hear four to six weeks, probably," Williams said at Friday's pregame shootaround. "Dr. [Lyle] Mason knows me. Now I wish they would have, so I wouldn't have got my hopes up." Brevin Knight, Ronnie Price and C.J. Miles will continue to fill in while he's out.
Analysis: Fantasy owners also wish they would have known. Williams said he believed he was "ahead of schedule" as far as his recovery, but his availability for the Jazz's upcoming five-game road trip is far from certain. If he did miss four weeks, Williams wouldn't play until after the Jazz return home on Nov. 17, or the start of Fantasy Week 4. Fantasy owners will need to reserve him for the upcoming scoring period. Knight, Price and Miles are very low-end options. They'll split time and ride the hot hand.
News: The Jazz are one of the two-game teams this week, but the two matchups come against sub-par defensive teams. The Nuggets gave up the second most points in the league last season and the Clippers gave up 101.1 points themselves. But the Jazz will be without their point guard for at least the first week, meaning they will have to cope with Ronnie Price, Brevin Knight and C.J. Wilson running the show.
Analysis: That could have a trickle-down effect to the rest of the offense in Week 1, but the must-starts, Carlos Boozer and Mehmet Okur, remain safe plays. Andrei Kirilenko is going to come off the bench in what could be a very suitable role for him as sixth man while Matt Harpring remains sidelined. He'll get to be top dog again with the second unit. C.J. Miles is going to start at small forward, but is not going to get many touches with the first group. Where Fantasy owners will want to look for other options is with the fringe options. Price, Knight and Wilson are going to spend the first two games sorting things out and whoever has the hot hand will play. That's too risky in Fantasy. Paul Millsap and Kyle Korver are very low-end options in a two-game week. Ronnie Brewer should be considered only in leagues that allow five guards.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that C.J. Miles tried to put a positive spin on his return to Utah. The Jazz opted to match the four-year, $14.8 million offer sheet Miles signed with Oklahoma City. Miles would have competed for minutes with the Thunder but his role with the Jazz is far less certain. "Who says that I can't come in," Miles said, "and work as hard and earn significant minutes on this team like it's the same thing going to Oklahoma City?"
Analysis: The Jazz have four wings who played ahead of Miles last season in Ronnie Brewer, Andrei Kirilenko, Kyle Korver and Matt Harpring. Miles also has done himself no favors by skipping summer league play the last two years. At this time, he has minimal Fantasy appeal.
News:C.J. Miles will stay in Utah after the Jazz matched the deal offered by Oklahoma City to the restricted free agent. On July 18, Oklahoma City offered a four-year deal worth about $15 million to Miles, who will be entering his fourth NBA season. Under the NBA's collective bargaining agreement, the Jazz had a week to match that offer and said Friday they would do so.
Analysis: In three seasons, the 21-year-old Miles has averaged 4.0 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists. Last season, he averaged a career-high 5.0 points and 11.5 minutes per game. Miles said in a conference call that the Jazz "are not going to promise me I'm going to play just because I signed the contract." He doesn't stand to have much Fantasy appeal as a result.
News: Jazz SG C.J. Miles started at small forward in place of the injured Andrei Kirilenko on Monday against the Wizards. He finished with 29 points, four rebounds and five assists in 30 minutes, shooting 4-for-6 from 3-point range.
Analysis: Miles has made a few spot starts this season, but he hadn't performed so well in them. We say he just had one good game and will return to being a modest contributor -- one not worth using in Fantasy -- his next time out.
News:C.J. Miles, filling in for injured forward Andrei Kirilenko (hip), was the only Utah starter not to score in double figures Wednesday against Minnesota. He had nine points.
Analysis: While Miles may be the first player called upon to start when either Andrei Kirilenko or Ronnie Brewer get hurt, he clearly is not going to be a player who provides much statistically. Leave him on waivers.
News: For the second time in a a week, C.J. Miles got a start for an injured Jazz player. He had just 2 points with no assists or rebounds in only 11 minutes while filling in for Ronnie Brewer.
Analysis: While Miles may be the first player called upon to start when either Andrei Kirilenko or Brewer, he clearly is not going to be a player who provides much statistically. Leave him on waivers.
News: Jazz SG C.J. Miles got a start at small forward for Andrei Kirilenko (flu) on Monday against the Hornets. He finished with eight points, zero rebounds and zero assists in 17 minutes.
Analysis: Miles figures to start if Kirilenko gets traded in the coming weeks, but Kyle Korver will play a bigger role off the bench. Miles gave a sneak preview of what he might offer as a starter, and it didn't blow us away. Leave him on waivers.
News:The Sports Xchange reports with Andrei Kirilenko's return from a back injury, Jazz G C.J. Miles went from the starting lineup to not playing at all in Saturday's victory over Orlando. The change was so drastic that coach Jerry Sloan felt the need to talk with Miles at the shootaround Monday. "I love C.J.," Sloan said. "He's worked real hard. I told him the last three or four weeks, he's worked harder than he's ever worked. That's what we hoped that he could finally grasp. He got a chance and played pretty well. I hope he can keep it going."
Analysis: His hard work still didn't help Miles get on the court in Monday's victory over Milwaukee. Miles did not play for the second consecutive game. He has averaged 10.5 points and shot 55.6 percent the last 10 games he has played. "I mean, I'm cool," Miles said. "I can't make no decisions. All I can do is keep working and when he calls my name again, just be ready like I was the first time." Sloan is trying to find minutes for five players (Kirilenko, Miles, Ronnie Brewer, Matt Harpring and recently acquired Kyle Korver) at the Jazz's two wing positions. Sloan also is a believer in set rotations, which means Miles could be on the outside for a while. He has little to no Fantasy value at this time.
News: Jazz G C.J. Miles got a start at small forward Thursday against Phoenix, but he played just 17 minutes and scored only six points with four rebounds. He did block three shots, though.
Analysis: Miles got the start in place of the injured Andrei Kirilenko, but he should be returning to the bench shortly. Fantasy owners shouldn't invest much in him.
News: Jazz SG C.J. Miles scored 12 points in 17 minutes off the bench Wednesday against the 76ers. He also had two rebounds while scoring in while scoring in double figures for the sixth time in nine games.
Analysis: Miles has been a staple in the Jazz lineup since early December and has become a viable scoring threat off the bench in his last nine games. He will lose some of his scoring chances to newly-acquired Kyle Korver, but remains just a low-end Fantasy reserve at this time.
News: Jazz SG C.J. Miles played just five minutes in Friday's loss at Portland. He has played over 13 minutes in a game just once all season.
Analysis: Clearly, Miles is not in a situation to help Fantasy owners and should be left on the waiver wire until further notice.
News: Utah forward Matt Harpring missed Wednesday's game at Toronto because of a flulike virus. "Over the last couple of years, he's been a huge part of what we do," Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said. "He gives us a player off the bench who can score some. The rest of the time, somebody else has to pick it up. We'll see what happens." Sloan said C.J. Miles could see increased minutes in Harpring's absence.
Analysis: Don't expect the world from Miles at this time. He might be in on a limited basis as Harpring is merely day to day. Miles is averaging just 1.8 points and 1.6 rebounds in five games. He is merely a Fantasy reserve at this time.
News: C.J. Miles remains unsigned more than two months after hitting the market as a restricted free agent. The Jazz have spurned potential sign-and-trade offers and note that the $945,610 qualifying offer still on the table represents a 42.4 percent raise from what Miles made last season. Miles, who is still just 20, has kept in touch with Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams all summer and said he wants to return. He also would like to be back in Salt Lake at least two weeks before training camp to re-acclimate to the altitude.
Analysis: The Jazz say they're willing to wait until Oct. 1 to re-sign Miles, but Miles' timetable likely is more accurate. He is still too green to be relied upon in regular Fantasy leagues. Consider him a poor, low-end option in Fantasy play.
News: The Utah Jazz made qualifying offers to guards Dee Brown and C.J. Miles on Friday, making both players restricted free agents.
Analysis: The move means the Jazz can match any offer Brown or Miles get from other teams that want to sign them. Terms of Utah's offers were not available. Neither player will be worth more than a late-round flier on Draft Day anyway.
News: Shooting guard C.J. Miles received more than 16 minutes of playing time Saturday at Cleveland due to the injuries to Matt Harpring and Gordan Giricek, but it mostly didn't go well.
Analysis: Miles, who turns 20 on Sunday, missed four of his five shots, and the Cavs outscored Utah 29-15 when he was on the floor. There are better Fantasy options out there.
News: Shooting guard C.J. Miles was pressed into extra duty on Wednesday, and his coach wasn't particularly pleased with the results. Miles scored five points on two-for-five shooting, but air-balled a three-pointer and made some defensive mistakes. "He has to be ready when called upon," Sloan said. "He wasn't quite ready to go in the game."
Analysis: The 19-year-old guard is still too green to be relied upon in regular Fantasy leagues. Consider him a poor, low-end option in all leagues until further notice.
News: The Idaho Stampede have a week off, so the Jazz decided that second-year guard C.J. Miles would be better served practicing with the NBA team. So Miles returned from a three-week stint in the D-League on Friday, though his return to Utah was delayed by a fogged-in airport. Miles finally reached EnergySolutions Arena late in the third quarter of Friday's victory over Denver.
Analysis: Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said the team has not decided whether Miles will have another D-League stint this season, but he intends to have the 19-year-old guard suit up and probably play sometime in the next week. He won't play enough to use in Fantasy leagues, however.
News: The Jazz will consider recalling second-year guard C.J. Miles from the D-League after back-to-back games this week, senior vice president Kevin O'Connor said Wednesday.
Analysis: Miles has played six games for Boise, and averaged a team-high 17.8 points, though his play has been inconsistent, O'Connor said. He does not warrant Fantasy attention yet.
News: Utah assigned C.J. Miles to Boise of the NBA Developmental League on Thursday.
Analysis: The move was made in order to get the second-year guard some minutes. He wasn't getting them in the NBA. "He'll probably get 30 minutes a night, that's what we've heard," coach Jerry Sloan said. "He has a tendency to fight himself a little bit when he misses a couple of shots. He's got skills, he's got ability. He just has to learn how to play through things when they don't go right. And there's no substitute for playing."
News: Jazz coach Jerry Sloan is contemplating a lineup change, and while he wouldn't reveal what form that might take, the status of second-year guard C.J. Miles figures to be in jeopardy.
Analysis: Miles got the Jazz off to good starts offensively in two of Utah's first three games, reaching double-figures in points in the first period against Houston and Golden State. But the 19-year-old guard has had difficulty guarding Richard Hamilton and Vince Carter in the Jazz's last two games, and that might be enough to convince Sloan to make a change. The coach hinted that despite the team's 4-1 record, there might be a change as soon as Friday's game in Boston. Miles' Fantasy usefulness could be short-lived.
News: Jazz G/F C.J. Miles started once again for the Jazz on Saturday scoring 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field and 3-of-3 from the free-throw line.
Analysis: Miles has now scored in double figures in two of three games and is further adapting to the pro game in just his second season in the league. As a starter, Miles' value should get a huge boost. He wasn't expected to have much value entering the season, but now makes a nice addition off the waiver wire in leagues of 12-plus teams. He could make for a nice short-term replacement option reserve.
News: Prior to Wednesday's season-opening win vs. Houston, G C.J. Miles didn't recognize, for an instant, the last name Jerry Sloan called as he announced his starting lineup Wednesday morning. When Sloan said "C.J.," Miles said, "I thought, 'Is there another one?'" But the 19-year-old guard got the nod over Gordan Giricek, Ronnie Brewer and Derek Fisher, and repaid Sloan's faith by making all four of his first-quarter shots, including a pair of three-pointers, in a 12-point starting debut.
Analysis: As a starter, Miles' value should get a huge boost. He wasn't expected to have much value entering the season, but now makes a nice addition off the waiver wire in leagues of 12-plus teams. He could make for a nice short-term replacement option reserve.
News: The Jazz will start the season with G Derek Fisher, G C.J. Miles, G Ronnie Brewer, G Dee Brown, F Matt Harpring, F Paul Millsap, C Jarron Collins and C Rafael Araujo as their options off the bench.
Analysis: Fisher will be counted upon to both spell and complement Deron Williams, sometimes running the offense, sometimes spreading the defense with spot-up three-pointers. Brewer adds much needed athleticism to Jazz's offense, and could revive the fast break. He's a Fantasy sleeper and is worthy of consideration in leagues of 12-plus teams. Harpring remains an occasional contributor with a solid midrange jumper, useful in Rotisserie formats and deeper mixed leagues as a short-term replacement and Millsap has impressed Sloan with his relentless rebounding. The Jazz will be hurt by their lack of size in the middle, however; Collins and Araujo are physical but not intimidating. Neither player is worthy of Fantasy consideration at this time.
News: C.J. Miles returned to the Jazz after an 11-game stint with Albuquerque in the D-League, scoring one point in four minutes at the end of Utah's loss in Sacramento. Miles averaged 13 points a game with the Thunderbirds.
Analysis: He has no Fantasy value.
News: The Utah Jazz recalled shooting guard C.J. Miles from the NBA Developmental League on Friday. Miles, a second-round draft pick, averaged 12.7 points and 3.5 rebounds in 11 games with the Albuquerque Thunderbirds. He played in 10 games for the Jazz before the team sent him to Albuquerque to get him more playing time.
Analysis: He has no Fantasy value.
News: The Utah Jazz assigned second-round draft pick C.J. Miles to Albuquerque of the NBA Development League on Wednesday. Miles, an 18-year old who entered the draft straight out of Skyline High School in Dallas, has played in just 10 of Utah's 32 games this season. Miles has be inactive for the last seven games. Utah took Miles with the No. 34 overall pick in the 2005 draft.
Analysis: "We feel that right now the best way to further C.J.'s development is to send him to Albuquerque where he can get more experience in an actual game setting," said Kevin O'Connor, Jazz vice president for basketball operations. He has no Fantasy value.
News: Miles will begin the regular season on the injured list due to an undisclosed injury.
Analysis: Miles might see some time with the Jazz this season, but his Fantasy value will be minimal.
News: The Utah Jazz signed Miles, the 34th pick overall in the NBA Draft, to a contract on Monday.
Analysis: The 6-6 shooting guard posted 23.5 ppg, 10.0 rpg and 4.8 apg as a senior at Skyline High in Dallas. He will provide depth in Utah, but will be a few years away from having an impact in Fantasy leagues.
