News: Hawks guard Lou Williams, who underwent reconstructive surgery on his right knee back in February, said his rehab is "going great", the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Williams said he is still unable to jog but added that he has been able to do some stand-still shooting. "This is the first time I've been injured in my life. Its very different territory that Im facing. Its going to be a different summer. Im used to being able to do what I want to in the summertime. Obviously that is not in the cards for me this year. So, if you have a long enough career, you are blessed to experience all things."
Analysis: The original timetable for Williams' return was listed at 6 to 9 months and he is on month four right now. While he is making steady progress in his recovery, it is way to early to tell if he will be ready for the start of training camp. Williams averaged 14.1 points on 42.1 percent shooting from the field prior to his injury, while primarily being used in his customary sixth-man role. Fantasy owners will have to keep a close eye on Williams' recovery over the summer. However, based on the fact that he is coming off of a major knee injury, we wouldn't plan on spending anything other than a late-round pick on the 26-year-old.
News: Despite requiring at least six months to recover, the Hawks remain optimistic guard Lou Williams will be ready for training camp following reconstructive surgery on his right knee. Williams had surgery last Thursday, leaving about eight months before the start of next season's training camp. Atlanta officials said they are basing their optimism on the success of other athletes who have had surgery to repair torn anterior cruciate ligaments, including Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. Williams tore his ACL against Brooklyn on Jan. 18, ending his season.
Analysis: Williams was the Hawks' third-leading scorer with an average of 14.1 points after signing with the club as a free agent after averaging a career-best 14.9 points with Philadelphia last season. Atlanta may be optimistic about his recovery, but Williams' rehab could also exceed six months and require closer to nine. Peterson is considered an anomaly in terms of recovering from an ACL injury as some basketball players -- Ricky Rubio, Derrick Rose -- have required more time in their comebacks. Williams should be released in all Fantasy formats at this point.
News: Hawks guard Lou Williams surgery to repair the torn ACL in his right knee went off without any complications Thursday. Williams had the procedure performed in Gulf Breeze, Ala. by Dr. James Andrews. He is expected to need six to nine months to recover from the injury, putting him at risk of not being ready by the start of next season.
Analysis: Getting the surgery out of the way is a good sign, as the doctors generally wait until any swelling has subsided in the area before performing the surgery. Williams has a long road ahead of him before he can get back on the court, as with any player working back from a debilitating knee injury. He has no Fantasy value in yearly formats, and will likely be too rusty to be worth stashing in keeper leagues. There is no reason to hold on to Williams following his surgery.
News: Hawks guard Lou Williams told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Friday that he will need approximately 6-9 month of rehab. Williams is out for the remainder of the season after suffering ligament tear in his right knee in mid-January. "Anywhere in that range depends on how your body reacts to the rehab," Williams said. "Some guys are different than others. Some guys dont come back as strong. Then you have guys like Adrian Peterson who darn near break world records."
Analysis: Williams is still early in his stage and will not know a timertable for his surgery for another "week or so." He has yet to start his rehabilitation process and could be back during that particular time frame, barring any sort of setbacks, so we'll keep an eye on that moving forward. The 26-year-old averaged 14.1 points, 3.6 assists and 1.8 3-pointers per game with over 29 bench minutes per night. At this point, Fantasy owners should part ways with Williams in all seasonal formats.
News: Hawks guard Lou Williams is done for the season after an MRI revealed a ligament tear in his right knee, reports the Atlanta Journal Constitution Saturday. Williams suffered the injury on Friday against the Nets and it was originally diagnosed as a sprained right knee.
Analysis: Williams finishes his season averaging 14.1 points, 3.6 assists and 1.8 3-pointers per game over 29 bench minutes per night. He was an important player for the Hawks and Fantasy owners and will be missed by both. Devin Harris becomes more important now and Jeff Teague must really take more of the scoring responsibilities with Williams done. Williams can be cut in most Fantasy formats.
News: Atlanta guard Lou Williams will miss Saturday's game against San Antonio, reports the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Williams had an MRI exam on his injured knee and the results are not yet known.
Analysis: Williams left Friday's game with a right knee sprain and is now awaiting MRI results to find out the severity. He's missing at least one game and Fantasy owners may have to plan to be without him going forward for a stretch. Fantasy owners will have to keep an eye on his status moving forward as he will likely be an injury risk heading into Week 13 Jan. 21-27). Williams is averaging 14.5 points on 42.4 percent shooting from the field and can be considered a viable low-end option in most formats when healthy.
News: Hawks guard Lou Williams was forced to leave Atlanta's contest against the Nets Friday night after spraining his right knee. Williams sustained the injury in the second quarter when he was trying to make a cut to the basket. He was immediately taken back to the locker room in a wheelchair and X-rays taken came back negative. Williams is scheduled to undergo further tests Saturday and had just one steal prior to leaving the game.
Analysis: Williams had his knee just give out on him, but luckily seems to have only suffered a sprain. While that could keep him out of the lineup for a bit, his injury looked much worse than a sprain when it occurred. Fantasy owners will have to keep an eye on his status moving forward as he will likely be an injury risk heading into Week 13 Jan. 21-27). Williams is averaging 14.5 points on 42.4 percent shooting from the field and can be considered a viable low-end option in most formats when healthy.
News: Hawks guard Lou Williams had another subpar performance off the bench Wednesday, in a 109-95 win over the Nets. Williams scored 11 points on 5 of 8 shooting over 24 minutes. He added four assists and one rebound, while turning the ball over three times.
Analysis: Williams has come off the bench in four games in a row, and the results have not been great. He is averaging just 9.3 points per game, while being held below double-figures in scoring in two of the four contests. He was averaging 18.6 points in nine starts, so his recent slide is certainly disappointing. Williams is going through a bit of a cold spell, so Fantasy owners can expect him to turn things around at some point. Still, for now, he remains more of a low-end option.
News: With Devin Harris back in action, Hawks guard Lou Williams went back to the bench but still managed to turn in a decent performance during Friday's contest against the Jazz. Williams scored 13 points, dished out three assists and grabbed two rebounds in a 103-95 victory. He went 5 of 13 shooting from the field, including 2 of 6 from beyond the arc, and converted 2 of 3 free throw attempts on the night. He also added two steals and a blocked shot while logging 34 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Williams picked up the slack for Harris as a starter for nearly a month, but he'll head back to the bench for now. According to head coach Larry Drew, he feels the Williams can pack a "punch" off as one of the first players off the bench. He is averaging 18.8 points, 5.4 assists and 3.4 rebounds over his last five games. Though he is coming off the bench now, we still expect Williams to log roughly 30 minutes per night, so continue to view him as a solid option in most formats heading into Week 12 (Jan. 14-20).
News: Hawks guard Lou Williams turned in another solid performance as he continued to fill up the stat sheet Tuesday night against the Timberwolves. Williams scored 21 points and dished out eight assists in a 108-103 defeat. He went 6 of 15 shooting from the field, including 1 of 4 from downtown, and converted 8 of 9 free throw attempts. He also chipped in with four rebounds while logging 43 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Williams continues to excel in the starting lineup as of late, averaging 18.5 points, 5.8 assists and 3.9 rebounds over his last nine games since becoming a starter. Coach Larry Drew already told reporters that he'll stick with what works, so we expect him to remain in the starting lineup as long as he continues to stay productive. Williams' scoring has gone up since becoming the starter and should be viewed as a decent starting option in most formats for now.
News: Hawks coach Larry Drew said he plans to keep Lou Williams in the starting lineup at shooting guard. Im going to stay with what works, Drew said, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Thats been good for us. A couple of games Ive thought about going back to a bigger lineup but sometimes, as Ive said in the past, youve got to roll the dice a little bit -- whether you adjust to the opposition or you force the opposition to adjust to you. Clearly, our last few games if there is an adjustment to be made its going to be on their end. Im going to stay with whats been working for us. Hes been good in our lineup and Im going to keep it that way.
Analysis: Williams was put in the starting lineup Dec. 22 and is averaging 16.8 points per game in six games since then, which is above his season average of 14.8 points per game. Williams is doing enough in Fantasy to remain a mid-level Fantasy start and it appears he will continue to remain relevant as a key player in the Hawks' backcourt.
News: Hawks guard Lou Williams did a solid job of filling up the stat sheet on Wednesday night against the Pistons. He scored 18 points, hauled in eight rebounds and dished out seven assists. He went 7 for 14 from the floor, including 2 for 7 from downtown, and converted both of his free throws. Williams also chipped in with two steals and a block while playing 48 minutes in the 126-119 double overtime win.
Analysis: Williams has picked of his scoring of late as he is averaging 16.8 points in the previous five contests. He is also putting up 3.2 assists and 1.2 steals over that span while shooting 39 percent. Owners should keep in mind that the 26-year-old usually does not fill up the stat sheet but since he can score in the teens, keep Williams active in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Hawks guard Lou Williams led his team with 24 points on Tuesday in an overtime win at Washington. Williams went 10 of 11 from the free throw line but just 6 of 18 from the field and 2 for 7 from 3-point range. He played 40 minutes and grabbed two rebounds with an assist and a blocked shot for the Hawks.
Analysis: Williams continues to score off the bench for Atlanta with 15 points per game over his last five. That comes with 1.2 3-pointers, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals. He does little outside of score but still belongs active in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Hawks guard Lou Williams came off the bench to score 11 points Monday during a loss at Miami. Williams shot 3 of 8 from the field and missed all three 3-pointers he attempted in the game. He played 31 minutes and went 5 for 5 from the line but added just four assists and one rebound.
Analysis: Williams, who also had two steals in Monday's game, dropped 21 points on the Grizzlies his last time out. He's an erratic scorer off the bench, but is normally around 13-16 points per game. As a solid 3-point shooter, Williams has solid Fantasy appeal in deeper formats.
News: Hawks guard Lou Williams scored in double figures for the fourth consecutive game during Wednesday's contest against the Nuggets. Williams dropped 16 points and dished out six assists in a 108-104 victory. He went 4 of 13 shooting from the field, including 2 of 6 from downtown, and knocked down all six of his free throw attempts. He also chipped in with two steals, a rebound and a block in 30 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: After starting the season averaging 13 points through his first four games, Williams has picked up the slack a bit and has averaged 14.5 points and 3.4 assists in his last 11 contests. Williams has also drilled 10 3-pointers in his last four games. He can be a bit inconsistent at times, but Fantasy owners in deeper formats should roll with the 26-year-old while he continues to light it up from beyond the arc.
News: Hawks guard Lou Williams came off the bench to score 17 points and tie for the team lead Wednesday in a win over Charlotte. Williams shot 7 for 16 from the field and hit three 3-pointers over 29 minutes. He dished out five assists and chipped in a steal and rebound in the win.
Analysis: Williams can be inconsistent at times but can also fill it up for a guy seeing less than 25 minutes per game on the season. Williams may be underutilized, but Fantasy owners should only be starting him in deeper formats.
News: Hawks guard Lou Williams came off the bench to finish second on the team in scoring Monday night in a win over the Magic. Williams shot 6 of 12 from the field over 28 minutes to drop 14 points. He added three assists, three rebounds and a steal and block in the game. Williams, however, went 0 for 3 from deep.
Analysis: Williams can put together some nice scoring lines as long as the shots are falling for him, which isn't all that often considering he's hitting on less than 40 percent from the field. He does give you a 3-pointer and a half per night with decent assists off the bench, however, so continue using him in deeper formats.
News: Atlanta shooting guard Lou Williams was able to play Monday against Portland but was a question mark coming in due to flu-like symptoms. Williams saw 18 minutes and shot 3 for 7 from the field to score 11 points. He went 0 for 3 from deep and added just one rebound, one assist and four steals.
Analysis: Williams has played under 20 minutes in each of the team's last three games, including Monday. He was feeling a bit under the weather against Portland, but the Hawks simply aren't using him right now. If he's not hitting his threes, Williams can only be considered a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Atlanta shooting guard Lou Williams was able to play Monday against Portland but was a question mark coming in due to flu-like symptoms. Williams has played under 20 minutes in each of the team's last two games entering Monday.
Analysis: Williams is feeling under the weather and that makes him a bit of a risky start for the Week 3 (Nov. 12-18) scoring period. That, plus the fact that he's scored a total of 22 points in his last three games going 4 for 13 from long range. Williams is struggling and should only be active in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Hawks guard Lou Williams turned in a solid performance off the bench as he gave the team a spark during Friday's season opener against the Rockets. Williams finished with a team-high 22 points and dished out five assists in a 109-102 defeat. He shot 7 of 17 from the field, including 2 of 5 from downtown, and converted 6 of 7 free throws. Williams also chipped in with four rebounds, three steals and committed three turnovers in 31 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Williams seemed to fit in nicely off the bench in his first game for Atlanta since coming from Philadelphia during the offseason. He was able to show his range as he drilled two three pointer in the opener. Williams shot 36.2 percent from downtown and attempt 3.6 shots from the three-point line last season. Williams has always been a terrific per-minute scorer and decent source for 3-pointers and should be viewed as a solid Fantasy option in deeper formats moving forward.
News: Hawks guard Lou Williams needs to get his field goal percentage up this preseason as he is shooting just 37 percent for Atlanta after six games and one start. Williams is getting 26 minutes per game but has gone just 22 of 59 from the field and 4 of 14 from long range to average 13.2 points and 4.3 assists for the Hawks.
Analysis: Williams was with Philadelphia last year and will be something of a sharpshooter this season for the Hawks. Expect plenty of penetration by Josh Smith with the kick out to Williams for the 3-pointer. That said, Williams needs to start hitting shots with more regularity if he is going to fill that role. Williams has always been a terrific per-minute scorer and decent source for 3-pointers, so plan on using him in most deeper Fantasy formats this season, his first with Atlanta.
News: The Hawks agreed to a multi-year contract with free-agent guard Lou Williams, reports ESPN.com. Williams averaged a career-high 14.9 points and 3.5 assists with the 76ers last season. "Happy to be apart of a team that's similar to the Sixers&Young, athletic, and hardworking," Williams posted on his Twitter account.
Analysis: Williams opted out of the final year of his contract with the 76ers in search of a long-term deal and it is believed the Hawks will use their $5 million mid-level exception on him. The 25-year-old originally wanted to stay in Philadelphia but decided to shop his services around the league after talks broke between his agent the team a few days ago. Williams finished second in Sixth Man of the Year voting but will likely be inserted into the starting lineup with Atlanta shipping Joe Johnson off to Brooklyn. Williams has always been a terrific per-minute scorer and decent source for 3-pointers, so plan on targeting him in the mid-to-late rounds on Draft Day.
News: 76ers guard Lou Williams has an early-termination clause in his contract for next season that would allow him to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Williams is expected to opt out of his contract in order to seek a long-term deal. Williams is coming off a season in which he led the team with 14.9 points per game, while shooting 40.7 percent from the field.
Analysis: Williams has emerged as one of the best sixth men in the NBA while averaging just 26.3 minutes per game last season. He has always been a terrific per-minute scorer, so if he does become a free agent, the best possible outcome would obviously be landing with a team that wants to play him full-time. It will be interesting to see what kind of offers he gets, but no matter where he goes, so plan on targeting him in the mid-to-late rounds on Draft Day.
News: 76ers guard Lou Williams' shooting struggles continued during Tuesday night's contest against the Heat. Williams made just six of his 17 field-goal attempts in the 99-93 defeat, finishing with 18 points. He went 2 for 6 from downtown and also added five rebounds, five assists and one steal to his stat line, while logging 30 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Williams is making just 36 percent of his field-goal attempts over his last five contests as he stuck in a mini shooting slump. However, this is nothing new for the 25-year-old, who has always been a streaky shooter over his career. Fantasy owners know by now you have to take the good with the bad from Williams, so leave him active in the majority of formats moving forward.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams said Monday that he has not thought about using his opt-out clause in his contract after this season, reports the Times Herald. Williams went 4 of 14 for nine points with three boards and three assists over 28 minutes in his last game on Sunday at San Antonio.
Analysis: Williams is averaging 13.8 points and 2.8 assists per game over his last five with 1.2 3-pointers per night. Fantasy owners can expect similar, if not better, numbers to continue. Williams can be used in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Philadelphia shooting guard Lou Williams shot well over 21 minutes on the court on Monday in a win over the Bobcats. Williams went 8 of 12 from the field and nailed all three 3-pointers he attempted in the game to score 19 points off the bench. Williams added five assists and three rebounds for Philadelphia in the blowout win.
Analysis: Williams had been shooting poorly prior to Monday's game when he went 67 percent from the field. Still, over his last five games, Williams is shooting just 42 percent and that is actually an improvement on his season numbers. Williams is averaging 15.0 points, 2.6 assists and 1.8 3-pointers per game over his last five. He can fill the scoring column in a hurry, but his inconsistency keeps him viable as a weekly starting option only in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: 76ers guard Lou Williams is currently mired in one of his worst streaks of the season, as he has scored just 28 points over his last three games while shooting 30.3 percent from the field. Williams continued that on Saturday by scoring nine points on 3 of 9 shooting against the Bulls while registering just a single assist in 19 minutes as the Sixers lost, 89-80.
Analysis: Williams little slide comes after a three-game period in which he scored 64 total points, which is what makes him so frustrating. Williams is a dynamite scorer who can put up points in bunches, but in his role off the bench, sometimes it is hard for him to get in a groove. Still, he is too talented as a scorer to consider benching, as he remains the Sixers leading scorer, so continue to consider him a viable starting option in all formats.
News: 76ers guard Lou Williams was able to fill up the basket during Friday night's contest against the Jazz. Williams finished with 21 points in the 104-91 victory, on 6 of 10 shooting from the field. He went 8 of 10 from the free-throw line and also added two rebounds and one assist to his stat line, while logging 25 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Williams has gotten off to a great start this month as he is averaging just over 18 points thus far in March. Despite just 40 percent from the field over that stretch, the 25-year-old has managed to keep his scoring average up by getting to the charity stripe. Williams is averaging just over four free-throw attempts per game and is shooting 82 percent from the line on the season. As long as he is able to maintain his current production, owners should leave Williams active in the majority of formats heading into Fantasy Week 12 (March 12-18).
News: Philadelphia shooting guard Lou Williams saw 25 minutes off the bench in Tuesday's second-half opener against the Pistons. Williams finished second on the team in scoring with 13 points, despite coming off the bench. With the 76ers up big, the bench saw plenty of minutes in the game. Williams went 6 of 12 from the field and hit a 3-pointer. He added seven assists and a blocked shot.
Analysis: Williams has seen his scoring drop a bit over his last handful of games as he's shooting just 32 percent from the field over that span. He went 50 percent from the field on Tuesday, so hopefully he starts hitting as the All-Star break is behind him. When playing well, Williams is a solid regular for most Fantasy formats.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams did not shoot well off the bench on Tuesday during a loss at Memphis. Williams went just 2 of 13 from the field over 27 minutes. Both of his makes were from 3-point range as he scored eight points. Williams added one rebound, one assist and one steal, though he did have three blocks in the game.
Analysis: Williams is shooting just over 37 percent from the field over his last five games and that is not going to get it done. He's still dropping over 15 points per game over that span, however, with 3.6 assists. As long as Williams is doing that, he should be active in most Fantasy formats.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams led his team with 21 points off the bench on Wednesday night in Orlando. He shot 7 for 13 from the floor, hitting two 3-pointers, and also converted 5 of his 6 foul shots in his 32 minutes of action. The 76ers would end up losing the game, 103-87, despite Williams' efforts. He added four rebounds, a steal and seven assists for Philly.
Analysis: Williams continues to be a spark plug off the bench for the 76ers. He's averaging 19.2 points, 4.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game over his last five contests, while shooting 45 percent from downtown. Fantasy owners should continue to view Williams as a low-end No. 2 guard option in most formats, despite the fact he doesn't start.
News: 76ers G Lou Williams turned in another solid performance during Saturday night's contest against the Cavaliers. Williams finished with 19 points in the 99-84 victory, on 6 of 14 shooting from the field. He went 2 of 3 from downtown and also chipped in with five assists, one rebound and one steal, while logging 31 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Williams continues to play well for the 76ers and has actually gotten his scoring up of late. He is averaging 18 points per game over his last five contests and is shooting 40 percent from downtown over that stretch. While he continues to come off the the bench in Philadelphia, Williams' consistent production continues to make him a staple in the majority of Fantasy owners starting lineups. Leave him active heading into Fantasy Week 8 (Feb. 13-19).
News: With the outcome of the game hanging in the balance and the Sixers clinging to a one-point lead heading into the fourth-quarter, Philadelphia G Lou Williams put the team on his back, scoring 14 of his 24 points in the final period to lead the team to a 95-90 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. On a night when Lakers G Kobe Bryant moved into fifth place on the NBA all-time scoring list, Williams did his best Kobe impression, making bucket-after-bucket late in the game and willing his team to win. "From the start of my basketball career, and for as long as I could remember, I've always played well in the fourth quarter," Williams said. "I know that's the most important time of a basketball game." He finished with 24 points on just 12 shots, as he added three makes from three-point range as well as seven free throws made. Additionally, he had two rebounds and four assists to just a single turnover.
Analysis: Williams knows his role in the offense, and that is to provide a spark off the bench, and he does it extremely well, leading the team in scoring with 15.5 points per game. He makes 1.3 three-pointers per game and adds 3.7 assists. While Fantasy owners look at his per-minute production and think of what he could do with true starters minutes, you have to be happy with the production Williams does give you. Hes a very useful Fantasy option in most formats and should be starts in most leagues.
News: Philadelphia SG Lou Williams did not shoot well in Monday's win over Orlando. None of the Philadelphia players played all that well, but Orlando was horrendous in the game. Williams went 4 for 13 shooting the rock, including 1 for 5 from deep, to score nine points for the Sixers over 25 minutes off the bench. Williams grabbed two rebounds and added two assists and a steal.
Analysis: Williams is firmly set to play around 25 minutes per game for Philadelphia. He gets a lot done over that time on the court, however, averaging over 15 points per game. Williams hits 1.5 3-pointers per contest and adds almost four assists as well. He'd be a very valuable asset if he saw more minutes, but can be used in plenty of Fantasy formats as it is now.
News: After being in a bit of a slump, 76ers guard Lou Williams has put together three straight nice games for Philly. He shot 7 for 15 from the floor, going 1 for 4 from downtown, on Wednesday night against New Jersey. Williams converted half his foul shots and finished with 17 points. He added a steal, one rebound and six assists for the 76ers, but they would end up losing in overtime, 97-90.
Analysis: Williams provides a boost off the bench for the 76ers and has been held under 10 points just twice all season. Over his last five games, Williams is averaging 13.8 points, 3.0 assists and 1.6 boards over that span. He seems to have gotten out of his slump and should be considered a viable guard option in most Fantasy formats.
News: 76ers G Lou Williams' shooting struggles continued during Friday night's contest against the Hawks. Williams made just one of his nine shot attempts in the 90-76 win, finishing with six points. He scored four of his points on the free-throw line and also managed to grab three rebounds and an assist, while logging 19 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Friday was just the second time all season that Williams has failed to score in double figures. The 25-year-old has gotten off to a great start with the Sixers this season, although he is in a bit of a shooting slump at the moment. Williams is shooting just 26 percent from the field over his last five contests (9 for 35) and is averaging just 11 points per game over that stretch. However, shooters go through slumps at times and Williams should be able to shot his way out of this in no time. Fantasy owners should continue to roll with Williams as a No. 2 Fantasy G heading into Week 5 (Jan. 23-29).
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams enjoyed playing back-to-back games against Washington on Friday and Saturday. He scored 24 points on Saturday and had 42 total points between the two games. He shot well over 50 percent from the field. Williams knocked down all nine free throws in the outings and shot a stellar 6 for 9 from beyond the 3-point arc. The 76ers would beat the Wizards in both contests.
Analysis: Williams had one off game this past week where he was held to just two points. But over his last five outings he's averaging 14.6 points, 3.6 assists and 2.4 boards. He continues to be a spark plug fofr the 76ers off the bench, which gives him plenty of Fantasy value. Owners should continue to view him as a No. 2 guard option.
News: 76ers G Lou Williams turned in another decent performance during Tuesday night's contest against the Kings. Williams finished with 15 points on 6 of 11 shooting from the field in the 112-85 win. He missed both of his attempts from downtown, but was able to chip in with four rebounds and three assists, while logging 21 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: After scoring at least 20 points in three of his first four games this season, Williams' production has started to level off a bit. However, that was to be expected, especially since he was shooting 50 percent from the field during his red-hot start. Williams is averaging 13.4 points, 3.8 assists and 2.0 rebounds over his last five contests, which is closer to what Fantasy owners should be expecting from the 26-year-old. While he continues to come off the bench, Williams' healthy average of 26.3 minutes per game gives him ample time to get his numbers. Fantasy owners can continue to roll with Williams as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy G moving forward.
News: After four games to the NBA season, Philadelphia guard Lou Williams is drawing praise from coach Doug Collins, reports the Philadelphia Daily News on Tuesday. "He's been brilliant," Collins said of Williams' bench play. "It's a godsend."
Analysis: Those are strong words from coach Collins, but Williams has earned it as he's averaging 20.3 points and 3.8 assists per game with 2.3 3-pointers per contest after four games. Williams is now a borderline No. 2 Fantasy guard. It looks like he'll keep improving with minutes, too.
News: Philadelphia G Lou Williams poured in a team-high 25 points off the bench during the 76ers' 107-103 loss to Portland on Monday night. Williams, who logged 27 minutes while slotted at shooting guard, scored 10 straight points including back-to-back 3-pointers to keep the 76ers close at the end of the game. He finished 9 of 17 from the field with three treys to finish with more points than Philadelphia's bench combined (20).
Analysis: Williams also outshined starting 76ers shooting guard Jodie Meeks, who finished with just three points on 0-for-4 accuracy. In addition, Williams played 13 more minutes than Meeks as coach Doug Collins seemed to ride the hot hand of the 25-year-old. It's too early to tell if there is a position battle, but Williams could be worth scooping up if he lands a starting role. Consider him a mid-range Fantasy reserve option for now.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams did not fare as well in Tuesday's preseason finale against the Wizards as he did in the preseason opener against Washington. Williams went 1 for 6 from the field over 20 minutes Tuesday to score 10 points. He added a steal, two rebounds and an assist and went 8 for 8 from the line. Williams, however, came off the bench to score a team-high 19 points in the opener as he shot 7 of 10 from the field over 20 minutes.
Analysis: Williams is instant offense off the bench for Philadelphia. That said, if his shot isn't on, he can struggle big time. Williams averaged 13.7 points per game last year over 23.3 minutes per night. He's an easy 3-pointer per game with a few assists. That said, Williams is right outside the top 50 Fantasy guards to target on Draft Day. Williams is just a late-round Fantasy selection.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams' practices with assistant coach Aaron McKie must have paid off because he saw over 20 minutes of action on Saturday against Miami. Williams missed the last five games of the regular season with a strained right hamstring. In Game 1 versus the Heat on Saturday he chipped in 10 points, four assists and two rebounds off the bench. He shot 3 for 10 from the floor -- connecting on 2 of his 6 shots from downtown -- and nailed both his foul shots. Williams added a steal in his 23 minutes of action, which is right on par with his court time during the season. Philly would rally, but fall short on Saturday as Miami went on to win the game, 97-89.
Analysis: Williams is a key reserve guard for the 76ers and will play a big role if Philly is going to overtake Miami in the first round of the playoffs. During the regular season he was fourth on the team in scoring at 13.7 a game. He might not practice much in between games so he can stay rested for the games and get to 100 percent. When he's healthy, Williams is a solid guard option in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, guard Lou Williams went one-on-one with 76ers assistant coach Aaron McKie on Thursday. This is a good sign for Saturday's Game 1 at Miami, as practice with McKie is always played at a high pace. Williams missed the last five games of the regular season with a strained right hamstring. "I did some fullcourt drills, some fullcourt shooting, some cutting, some intense one-on-one. We ramped it up today," said Williams, the Sixers' key reserve guard, who is fourth on the team in scoring at 13.7 a game. He said he feels really good and said it was no hold barred when he practiced versus McKie. "It was pretty good for me," Williams said. "We pushed it to the limit just to try to get a gauge of where we were, and I feel really confident of being able to play this weekend."
Analysis: Williams was hoping to have Game 1 played on Sunday, so he could get that extra day rest. "Yeah, that put a little wrench in our plans," Williams said. "We thought we were going to have that extra day to get some more time, but once we found out, that's why we ratcheted up today." He is a key piece to the 76ers and will need to be 100 percent if they want to advance in the playoffs. When healthy, Williams is a quality Fantasy option in all scoring formats.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that 76ers guard Lou Williams, who has a strained right hamstring, went through practice on Tuesday. After practice, he ran some light sprints to test the hamstring. Although Williams has already been ruled out of Wednesday night's game against Detroit, Sixers coach Doug Collins said he felt Williams would be ready for the playoff opener. "I don't think people realize - I do and our team does - Lou is our personality," Collins said. "He's our voice. He gets us into the huddles; he gets us out of the huddles. He gets the guys before the game and after the game. We missed his voice, his energy, and his personality."
Analysis: Fantasy owners in all leagues should keep Williams reserved Wednesday, and hopefully he can return at 100 percent for the start of the playoffs against the Heat. When healthy, Williams is a quality Fantasy option in all scoring formats.
News: The Philadelphia Daily News reports that 76ers guard Lou Williams had a good practice Sunday and was very hopeful that he will be able to suit up for the playoffs despite his injured hamstring, which will keep him out for the final two regular season games Monday against Orlando and Wednesday against Detroit. "It feels good actually. I feel really confident that I'll be able to play come playoff time," Williams said. "I was feeling good. It's a lot of good stuff that I do to get back on the court and then, hopefully, once I'm back on the court, I can continue to do the things I was doing before that. I think I've made a lot of progress. I'm happy where I am. With all the rehab and stuff, I'm able to run and shoot a little bit, get some movement, which has given me a little confidence. I feel good about it."
Analysis: Fantasy owners should keep Williams reserved in daily leagues for the final two games, and hopefully he can return for the playoffs. Still, with the bad hamstring, he would have limited Fantasy value in playoff leagues.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that 76ers guard Lou Williams, who is out for the rest of the regular season with a strained right hamstring, is not close to a return. "I think hes doing a little better," coach Doug Collins said. "I think a soft tissue injury is hard to evaluate a little bit. I think its one of those injuries thats going to take a little time. Unfortunately, well start the playoffs either a week from Saturday or Sunday, so time is not on our side right now. But hopefully Lou will continue to do well, I think you see how much we miss him out on the floor we definitely need him."
Analysis: Williams could miss the playoffs, especially if the 76ers are eliminated quickly in the first round. Keep an eye on his status and hopefully he can get back on the court soon.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Monday that 76ers guard Lou Williams said he's out for the rest of the regular season with a strained right hamstring, which he suffered Saturday. He said he "hopes" to be ready for the playoffs.
Analysis: It's safe to drop Williams in all leagues, and hopefully he can return for the start of the playoffs. Williams is fourth on the Sixers in scoring at 13.7 points per game in 23.3 minutes and is second in three-pointers made with 88. He is a leading Sixth Man of the Year candidate and a quality Fantasy option when healthy, but this hamstring injury will cost him the final five games of the 2010-11 season.
News: The Philadelphia Daily News reports that 76ers guard Lou Williams, who strained his right hamstring Saturday at Milwaukee, is out for the foreseeable future. The team said that it will monitor Williams' injury on a daily basis to try to determine a timetable for his return. The Sixers play at Boston on Tuesday night before playing their final four games at home. Williams, as expected, missed practice Monday.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in all leagues should keep Williams reserved, and hopefully he can return in time for the playoffs. Williams is fourth on the Sixers in scoring at 13.7 points per game in 23.3 minutes and is second in three-pointers made with 88. He is a leading Sixth Man of the Year candidate and a quality Fantasy option, but he might not return again in the regular season.
News: After leaving Saturday's game against the Bucks with a right hamstring injury, the Philadelphia Daily News reports Sunday that Sixers guard Lou Williams had an MRI on the area. It revealed that the hamstring was strained, and the team has not announced a possible timetable for his return. He will be evaluated on a daily basis.
Analysis: Fantasy owners are going to have to stay on top of the matter moving forward, because the team said that Williams will be re-evaluated on a regular basis until he is able to return. He has been a solid scorer on the wing for Philly all season long, and we believe the team will try to get him in the lineup as soon as possible with five games left in the regular season to determine playoff seeding. When healthy, Williams is a solid low-end Fantasy option as he continues to build on his career-year.
News: Sixers guard Lou Williams left Saturday's game against the Bucks with a right hamstring strain. Williams sustained the injury in the second half and left after logging just 16 minutes. He finished with three points, three rebounds, one assist and a steal prior to leaving with his injury.
Analysis: Williams will likely be considered day to day with his injury, so Fantasy owners in daily formats will have to continue to monitor his status. He will be a slight injury risk heading into Week 24 (April 4-13), but will get a few extra days to rest with the Sixers off until Tuesday. Williams has put up career highs in most offensive categories across the board this season and can be considered a solid low-end Fantasy option, when healthy.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams was held to just five points in the 76ers' 114-111 overtime loss to Sacramento on Sunday. Williams made just one shot -- a 3-pointer -- on 12 attempts to finish with his lowest scoring total since March 1 against Dallas (five). It was one of Williams' worst-shooting games of the season when attempting at least 10 shots as his 8.3 percent from the field was his was the fourth occasion under 10 percent. Williams added two rebounds and an assist while playing just 14 minutes.
Analysis: Williams, who has maintained his presence as a solid scoring threat this season, couldn't get anything going against the Kings. He entered the game on a torrid run and knocked down 50 percent of his shots in four of his last seven games. Williams also drained 11 of his last 22 attempts from 3-point range in his last four games, but could not find the same accuracy Sunday. He is averaging 14 points per game this season and should be viewed as a mid-range option in deeper Fantasy formats for the playoffs.
News: After shooting just 35 percent from the floor through the first four games in March, Sixers guard Lou Williams elevated his game Wednesday against the Thunder. Off of the bench, he shot 6 of 13 from the floor on his way to 22 points. He also converted a pair of 3-point attempts on the night along with 8 of 10 free-throws. Williams added three rebounds, three assists and a steal in 23 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Williams had his highest point total in exactly a month Wednesday, and shot 46 percent on the night. He made more free-throws than in any game since February 2. Williams was not in a scoring slump, but his points were down a bit because of low percentages and the lack of foul attempts. He has seemed to pick it up in a big game, and we expect him to continue scoring off of the bench down the stretch. Fantasy owners should use Williams as a low-end option moving forward.
News: After scoring a combined 14 points in his previous two games, Sixers guard Lou Williams was able to get back up into double figures during Sunday's 95-91 win over the Cavaliers. Williams scored 16 points in the victory on 4 of 8 shooting from the field. He went 2 of 3 from downtown and also chipped in with four rebounds and an assist in 19 minutes off the bench. Williams is averaging 15.3 points during the month of February.
Analysis: Williams continues to play well off the bench for the Sixers and continues to see around 22 minutes a game. While his numbers won't turn a lot of heads, his production has remained consistent, which adds to his Fantasy value. Owners looking for a solid low-end option should consider taking a look at Williams moving forward. The Sixers play the Mavericks, Timberwolves and Warriors during Week 19 (Feb. 28-March 6).
News: Sixers guard Lou Williams had another good game on Tuesday night, despite Philadelphia losing to Memphis 102-91. Williams scored 18 points on a 5-for-13 shooting performance -- going 1 for 5 from downtown -- and converting all seven of his foul shots. He added five rebounds -- two on the offensive end -- and four assists in his 24 minutes of action.
Analysis: Williams has been playing at a high level for Philly this year and has been a nice surprise for some Fantasy owners this season. He's not going to knock the socks off you, but his production is good enough to make him a viable guard option in deeper leagues. He's averaging 15.2 points, 3.1 assists and 1.6 boards over his last 10 outings. Owners in need of guard help should think about taking a flier on the sixth-year guard.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that 76ers SG Lou Williams is shooting 47.1 percent (16 for 34) from 3-point range in the last nine games after shooting 26 percent from downtown in his previous 22. He backed that up by going 3 for 5 from downtown on Wednesday against the Magic. Williams scored 23 points in the game on 9 of 15 shooting overall.
Analysis: Williams has been a great sleeper Fantasy guard this season, especially since the calendar turned to January. If you're in need of a solid low-end starting guard, then Williams might be your man, even if he does come off the bench for the Sixers. He averaged 15.9 points a game in January and is up to 18.5 points in four February games.
News: 76ers SG Lou Williams, who made only 3 of 14 shots Friday against the Knicks, bounced back nicely on Sunday against New York, making 6 of 12 from the floor for 19 points. He added four assists and a steal in 27 minutes
Analysis: Williams has been a great sleeper Fantasy guard this season, especially since the calendar turned to January. If you're in need of a solid low-end starting guard, then Williams might be your man, even if he does come off the bench for the Sixers. He averaged 15.9 points a game in January.
News: 76ers G Lou Williams had another solid scoring performance on Sunday against the Nuggets. He scored 12 points and dished out three assists in the 110-99 win. He went 4 for 10 from the field, including 1 for 3 from downtown, and converted all three of his foul shots while playing 24 minutes off the bench. Williams also chipped in with one rebound and one steal in the victory. He is averaging 14 points per game over his last five contests.
Analysis: Williams continues to see solid minutes in Philadelphia and has been scoring over his season average lately. He is also producing 3.2 assists with two rebounds and 0.6 steals in his last five contests while shooting 41.5 percent from the floor over that span. He used to be a starter but he continues to be a main man in the rotation and should be able to keep his scoring up with New Jersey and New York -- twice -- on the schedule for Week 15 (Jan. 31-Feb. 6). Williams should remain active as a low-end option in most Fantasy leagues while he's playing well.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams may have come off the bench on Wednesday in Orlando, but when it was crunch time he was on the floor. Williams played 37 minutes, compared to Jodie Meeks who started and played just 12 minutes, and scored a team-high 19 points in the one-point overtime defeat. Williams shot 6 of 17 from the field and missed all four 3-pointers he attempted. He added seven rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block. The team was plus-13 with him on the floor, while they had a minus with Meeks.
Analysis: It is possible that Williams will just continue to come off the bench as a valuable sixth man for the Sixers. Meeks has been playing limited minutes as a starter for a while now and the Sixers prefer to have Williams' energy on the bench. He's playing really well lately, averaging 18.6 points, 3.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game over his last five. Williams can be active in many Fantasy leagues when he's playing this well.
News: Sixers guard Lou Williams got the job done on Friday against the Bucks. He scored a team-high 25 points off the bench, including the go-ahead 3-pointer, giving Philadelphia the 95-94 win over Milwaukee. "It's a shot I can make and, honestly, it was the only shot he was giving me," Williams said. Williams would shoot 50 percent from the field -- going 2 for 5 from downtown -- and convert 9 of his 11 foul shots. Williams added four assists, one board and a steal in his 29 minutes of action.
Analysis: Williams seems to always find himself in the game in the fourth quarter and hitting some big shots. Just last week he scored 12 of his 26 points in the final stanza of the game. Over his last five games, Williams is averaging 19.4 points, 3.4 assists and 1.4 rebounds per contest. His biggest issue this year has been consistency, but right now he's right on point. Fantasy owners in deeper leagues should view Williams as a solid waiver-wire addition for the next scoring period. This pickup could pay off nicely down the road.
News: Philadelphia backup guard Lou Williams absolutely took over in the fourth quarter to separate the Sixers from the Washington Wizards Wednesday. Williams scored 12 of his 26 points in the final frame to help Philadelphia pull out the win. He shot 7 of 10 from the field overall and nailed both 3-pointers he attempted. Williams went 10 of 11 from the line and added three assists and two steals.
Analysis: We would love to tell Fantasy owners to rush out and pick Williams up after this monster performance and fourth-quarter spree. However, he scored just three points on 1 of 11 shooting on Monday in New Orleans and is still averaging just 14 points per game over his last four, even with Wednesday's effort. Consistency is Williams' issue and until he plays like this more often, his value is better left for deeper Fantasy leagues. Plus, Philadelphia only plays two games in Week 12 (Jan. 10-16). That alone makes Williams worth keeping on benches.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams joined backup guard Evan Turner in a horrendous shooting night Monday in a loss to New Orleans. Williams shot just 1 for 11 from the field to score three points over 21 minutes while Turner shot 2 for 14 for seven points. Williams went 1 for 4 from 3-point range and added four rebounds and two assists.
Analysis: Williams had just scored 18 points on 8 of 15 shooting on New Year's Eve in Los Angeles. He was absolutely horrendous on Monday, though. Williams has been a train wreck in terms of consistency and really only has value in the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer & Daily News is reporting that Sixers guard Lou Williams (personal) is expected to rejoin the Sixers for Wednesday's game in Phoenix. Williams has missed the last two games to be in Philadelphia for the birth of his daughter.
Analysis: Williams is averaging 11.8 points a game this season and is seeing around 22 minutes a game. His sporadic playing time has led to him putting up some inconsistent numbers for Philadelphia, which limits his Fantasy value. Continue to view him as a low-end Fantasy guard whose value lies in deeper leagues at this point.
News: NBA.com reports that Philadelphia guard Lou Williams missed his second straight game on Monday at Golden State. Williams remains away from the team for the impending birth of his daughter. He hopes to be back Wednesday at Phoenix.
Analysis: Williams is averaging just 11.2 points, 3.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds in his last five contests and has been putting up inconsistent numbers due to inconsistent playing time. He has upside, but not currently the role to produce consistently.
News: The Philadelphia Daily News reports that 76ers G Lou Williams has been ruled out through Monday's game against the Warriors. Williams remained in Philly to witness the birth of his first child, a daughter, which is expected to take place tomorrow.
Analysis: With the Sixers slated for just three games in Week 10 (Dec. 27-Jan. 2), Williams is slated to play just two games. Williams is averaging just 11.2 points, 3.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds in his last five contests and has been putting up inconsistent numbers due to inconsistent playing time. He has upside, but not currently the role to produce consistently.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams saw 20 minutes in a four-point loss to Boston on Wednesday night. Williams shot 5 for 8 from the field but missed both 3-pointers he attempted and scored 12 points in the contest. He added two assists and two rebounds with one steal.
Analysis: Williams can fill it up at times, as evidenced by the 24 points he scored two games ago in Orlando over 30 minutes. Still, he averages just under 12 points per game on the year and that number is 11.2 per game over his last five. With low-end production elsewhere, Williams should only be active in the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams scored a team-high 24 points off the bench in the 76ers' 97-89 victory over shorthanded Orlando on Friday night. It was the second-highest total of the season for Williams, who tallied 30 points at Washington on Nov. 2. He added six rebounds and three assists as Philadelphia recorded its fourth win in its last five games.
Analysis: Williams didn't have a huge night from the floor but was able to effectively get to the free-throw line. The sixth-year guard's slashing maneuvers to the basket resulted in 14 shots at the charity stripe and Williams connected on 13 of them. It was the fourth time this season he has notched 12 or more free throws in a game. Williams logged 30 minutes against the Magic -- which dressed just eight players after a transaction-filled afternoon -- for his highest total in 14 games. His play can be sporadic and he should only be considered in deeper Fantasy leagues for now.
News: Sixers guard Lou Williams played just 11 minutes in Tuesday's 82-77 win over the Nets. Williams scored just two points in the contest and was 0 of 5 from the field. Both of his points came at the charity stripe and he failed to record a rebound or assist.
Analysis: Williams had been playing well prior to Tuesday's game. Still, he has scored in double figures in five of his last eight contests and is seeing around 22 minutes a game over that stretch. He has proven he can be productive when given ample playing time, which has not been the case thus far. Continue to view him a viable reserve option in deeper leagues at this point.
News: Sixers guard Lou Williams had another efficient scoring night off the bench in Tuesday's 117-97 loss to the Cavaliers. He had 19 points in the victory on 5-10 shooting. Williams scored 13 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter and went 8 of 9 from the charity stripe. He played 21 minutes off the bench and also chipped in with four assists and rebound in the contest.
Analysis: Williams is averaging 12.2 points and 4.6 assists over his last five contests while seeing about 21 minutes off the bench. He has proven he can be productive when given ample playing time, which has not been the case thus far. Continue to view him a viable reserve option in deeper leagues at this point.
News: 76ers G Lou Williams had another efficient scoring night off the bench on Saturday against the Bobcats. He scored eight points while playing 12 minutes in the 109-91 win. While he went just 1 of 5 from the field, including 0 for 2 from downtown, he converted 6 of 7 free throws. Williams also had three assists and two steals in the victory.
Analysis: Williams is averaging 10.5 points with 4.7 assists over his last four contests while seeing decent playing time. His minutes have fluctuated a bit over the last 10 games but he has produced when given the opportunity. He still hasn't been shooting particularly well but as long as he is contributing on a nightly basis, continue to view Williams as a viable option in deeper leagues.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams continued to really struggle during Tuesday's win over Portland. Williams took only four shots in the game and connected on just one of them -- a 3-pointer -- as he scored just seven points in the game over 25 minutes. Williams, who went 4 for 6 from the line, added five assists and just one rebound.
Analysis: Williams is shooting just 35 percent from the field this season and his 1-for-4 effort Tuesday did nothing to change that for the better. Until his shot comes around, Williams is no good to anyone in Fantasy.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams had an ugly game Wednesday during a loss to Toronto. Williams shot just 1 for 11 from the field and scored eight points. He went 5 for 6 from the free throw line and 1 for 4 from 3-point range. Williams added two rebounds and one assist and blocked two shots over 26 minutes.
Analysis: Williams scored 19 points on Nov. 19 against Milwaukee and totaled 12 in his next two games. He's shot 3 for 19 in his last two contests and he had an 0-for-7 game before the 19-point one against the Bucks. Williams has been inconsistent with his shot lately. When playing this poorly, he should be benched. When going well, Williams can see use in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams contributed 19 points off the bench on Friday night against Milwaukee. That was his highest point total in six games. Williams logged 31 minutes, shooting 5 for 13 from the field and 3 for 8 from downtown. He also connected on all six of his foul shots. Williams would grab two rebounds, dish out two assists and make a steal, in Philly's 90-79 win over the Bucks.
Analysis: Williams had been struggling over his last five games, scoring just 31 points over that span. He also has been dealing with a separated shoulder, but has played through the pain. He continues to have a good year for Philadelphia and should continue to be a contributor off the bench for the 76ers. Continue to view him as a No. 4 Fantasy guard, especially with four games in Week 5 (Nov. 22-28).
News: 76ers G Lou Williams had been hampered recently with a separated shoulder but he was able to shake it off for a solid game against the Spurs on Saturday night. He scored 13 points while playing 22 minutes off the bench in the 116-93 loss. Williams shot 3 for 9 from the field, including 1 for 3 from downtown, but made all six of his free-throw attempts. He also had two rebounds and two assists in the defeat. "I felt OK," Williams said. "It wasn't that bad, I'm just going to deal with some soreness. I'm going to continue to play hard and help as best I can."
Analysis: Williams, who suffered the injury Wednesday, had just eight points combined in his last two outings but was able to get back on track against San Antonio on Saturday. After a couple of big performances early on, he is averaging a career-high 14.6 points through the first 10 games this season and should be able to revert to his old form as his injury heals. Williams has been solid for Philadelphia off the bench and can be considered a No. 4 Fantasy guard heading into Week 4 (Nov. 15-21).
News: Sixers guard Lou Williams was not much of a factor in Friday's 99-90 loss to the Mavericks. Williams, who is dealing with a separated shoulder, had just three points in nine minutes off the bench. He shot just 1 of 3 from the floor and grabbed two rebounds in the defeat.
Analysis: Williams hurt his shoulder in Wednesday's loss to the Thunder, so it was somewhat of a surprise to see him play on Friday. However, if he puts up a few more performances like he did against Dallas, Philadelphia might have to think about sitting him a few games. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor how is shoulder is holding up over the next few games to see if he is healthy for Week 4. Williams has been solid for the Sixers off the bench this season and can be considered a No. 4 Fantasy guard, when healthy.
News: Sixers forward Lou Williams will play in Friday's game against the Mavericks. Williams suffered a bruised shoulder on Wednesday's game, but was able to go through shoot around on Friday.
Analysis: Williams is averaging 16.4 points and 3.8 assists as a bench player, making him plenty usable in Fantasy. His assists could dip with the emergence of Jrue Holiday, but he's still worth using as a No. 4 Fantasy guard when healthy.
News: Sixers SG Lou Williams, who bruised his left shoulder in the third quarter Wednesday and missed the rest of the game, went through the team's shootaround Friday. Coach Doug Collins told the team's official website he thinks Williams will play Friday at Dallas.
Analysis: Williams is averaging 16.4 points and 3.8 assists as a bench player, making him plenty usable in Fantasy. His assists could dip with the emergence of Jrue Holiday, but he's still worth using as a No. 4 Fantasy guard when healthy.
News: Sixers SG Lou Williams, who bruised his left shoulder in the third quarter Wednesday and missed the rest of the game, sat out practice Thursday, according to the team's official website. He's officially listed as day to day.
Analysis: Even though he comes off the bench, Williams has been one of the 76ers biggest offensive contributors, averaging 16.4 points and 3.8 assists. His assists might continue to decline with the emergence of Jrue Holiday, but he's still worth using as a No. 4 Fantasy guard when healthy. Keep an eye on his status.
News: Sixers sixth man Lou Williams didn't return after sustaining a left shoulder contusion with about 3 minutes left in the third quarter. He ahd scored just six points while struggling from the field. He shot 2 for 11. Williams had shot just 3 for 12 from the field in his previous game against the Knicks, but managed 19 points in that game.
Analysis: Williams is averaging 17.9 points per game off the bench and has been one of the more productive bench players in the NBA. A bruised shoulder does not seem like the type of injury that would sideline him for long, but with NBA players you just never know. Prepare healthy alternatives where possible, but we still view Lou-Will as a safe play in most formats, barring setbacks.
News: Sixers G Lou Williams had 19 points in 26 minutes off the bench on Sunday at the Knicks. He shot just 3 for 12 from the field, but was 12 of 14 from the foul line. He added two assists and two rebounds with a steal and a block. Williams is averaging 18.8 points over his last five games.
Analysis: Williams is seeing just around 25 minutes per game, but he is a prominent scoring presence off the bench. He continues to see double-digit shot attempts and can be relied upon for scoring in the mid-to-high teens on a regular basis. He is not offering much else outside of 3-point shooting and a few assists, but is still one of the more productive bench players in the NBA at the moment.
News: Sixers G Lou Williams scored a game-high 30 points in Tuesday's game at Washington despite coming off the bench. He logged 32 minutes and was 6 for 16 from the field. He did most of his damage from the foul line, shooting 15 for 17. Williams averaged 19.8 points per game through his first four contests.
Analysis: Williams is getting 25-30 minutes per game off the nehc, contributing from beyond the arc and getting to the foul line 10-plus times in two of his first four games. He is getting enough run and field goal attempts to be considered a useful low-end starter in any league, though we would expect him to be more in the 15-point range than the 30-point range.
News: Despite playing just 21 minutes, Philadelphia guard Lou Williams led the team in scoring on Saturday with 18 points on 7 of 8 shooting. He was good on both of his 3-point attempts and chipped in three assists and a steal. Williams did commit five turnovers in the loss to Indiana.
Analysis: Williams can hit the three and will be a cheap source of points, assists and steals. He can be very useful as a Fantasy reserve in deeper leagues.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams played 33 minutes off the bench and was basically a third starter as Jason Kapono only played 13 minutes out of the starting lineup. Williams was anything but lights out shooting the basketball but he still scored 15 points on 5 of 14 shooting with three 3-pointers. He added seven assists.
Analysis: Williams will get starter's minutes off the bench. The team will start Kapono as a forward and play most of the time with a three-guard set. Williams can hit the three and will be a cheap source of points, assists and steals. He can be very useful as a Fantasy reserve in deeper leagues.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams continued to score well on Wednesday against the Knicks in preseason action. Williams poured in 18 points over 19 minutes as he shot 5 of 7 from the field. He went 2 of 2 from 3-point range and added four rebounds, four assists and two steals. Williams has been in double figures in every preseason game thus far.
Analysis: Williams had his best scoring effort on Wednesday but he's been putting up double digits every night over just 15-25 minutes per game. Williams' Fantasy value might be tied to how well rookie Evan Turner performs early this season. Still, he's been a reliable option in the past and figures to be once again. He can be very useful as a Fantasy reserve in deeper leagues.
News: Philadelphia SG Lou Williams was back in his sixth-man role in the first preseason game on Tuesday against the Nets. Williams, who scored 10 points in the loss, played 25 minutes off the bench as Andre Iguodala and Jrue Holiday started in the guard spots. Williams shot 3 for 6 from the field and connected on a 3-pointer. He added one rebound, two assists and a steal.
Analysis: Williams' Fantasy value might be tied to how well rookie Evan Turner performs early this season. Turner played 26 minutes Tuesday and scored 12 points, though he shot just 1 for 6 from the field, with seven rebounds and 10 free-throw makes. Williams was expected to become a standout Fantasy option last season but that never really happened as injuries and acquisitions changed the landscape of the 76ers. Williams is back to being a role player this year and is just a useful reserve in Fantasy.
News: 76ers guard Lou Williams had a career year in 2009-10. He set new career highs in points (14.0), assists (4.2), rebounds (2.9), steals (1.3) and three-pointers (70). Williams only played in 64 games due to a broken jaw, and his stats might have been better had he not missed time with the injury.
Analysis: Williams was hurt early in the year, and after he was gone, the 76ers tried to replace him with Allen Iverson and rookie Jrue Holiday. Williams averaged 20.3 points in October and 16.5 points in November, his two highest-scoring months of the season. He's capable of producing at that level and hopefully he can get back there in 2010-11. We like Williams with a late-round pick in all leagues next season.
News: Sixers SG Lou Williams finished with 15 points against the Bucks on Friday, his fourth straight game in double figures. He shot 6 of 13 from the field, 1 of 3 from downtown, in 26 minutes. He added two rebounds, six assists, one steal and one blocked shot.
Analysis: Williams has been nothing if not consistent lately. In his last four games, he's scored 12, 12, 12 and 15 points. Throw in around four assists a game and a pair of rebounds and you've got a viable No. 4 Fantasy guard.
News: Philadelphia G Lou Williams returned to the lineup on Saturday against the Raptors after missing the previous five games with back spasms. Williams scored 12 points on 5 of 10 shooting while adding five assists and two rebounds.
Analysis: Even when healthy, Williams is just a low-end Fantasy starer. He is averaging 14.4 points on the season but doesn't really have good numbers in other categories. The Sixers play six times during Fantasy Week 24 (April 5-14).
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, 76ers G Lou Williams (back) did not travel with the team to Charlotte for Wednesday night's game, but he is considered a game-time decision for Saturday's home game against Toronto.
Analysis: Williams has not played in any of the team's last five games while dealing with back spasms. With the Sixers out of the playoff race, any setback could mean the end of his season and that makes him extremely risky in weekly formats for the final scoring period of the season. Unless his situation improves over the weekend, avoid activating him.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams missed his fifth straight game on Wednesday against the Bobcats due to back spasms. He remains day to day with no exact timetable to return.
Analysis: Williams has suffered with his performance since his back started hurting him and has now missed five straight games. While he is a viable Fantasy option while healthy, the Sixers could sit him for the rest of the season since they're out of playoff contention. Keep him out of your lineup in daily formats for the time being.
News: Sixers SG Lou Williams did not play in Tuesday's game against the Thunder due to back spasms. He's sat out the team's last four games.
Analysis: Williams' play had dropped off from February to March, his scoring down from 16.0 a game to 12.6 before his back began to bother him. While he is a viable Fantasy option while healthy, the Sixers could sit him for the rest of the season since they're out of playoff contention. Keep him out of your lineup in daily formats for the time being.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sixers G Lou Williams (back) was able to practice Monday. He is considered a game-time decision for Tuesday's game against Oklahoma City.
Analysis: Williams has been dealing with back spasms, but the fact that he was able to practice Monday is a good sign that he will be able to play on Tuesday. With the Sixers out of the playoff race, however, any setback could mean the end of his season. Williams is a risky play as a low-end starter for the team's three-game scoring period in Week 23.
News: Sixers SG Lou Williams did not play in Friday's game against the Hawks due to back spasms. He remains day to day.
Analysis: Williams will be a big injury risk for Fantasy Week 23 (March 29-April 4) with an injury that has limited him since mid-March. Considering the back issue and a three-game scoring period with poor matchups, we suggest sitting him where possible.
News: According to the team's official Twitter feed, Sixers coach Eddie Jordan said on Friday afternoon that G Lou Williams (back spasms) would not play against the Hawks on Friday night. He remains day to day.
Analysis: Williams will be a big injury risk for Fantasy Week 23 (March 29-April 4) with an injury that has limited him since mid-March. Considering the back issue and a three-game scoring period with poor matchups, we suggest sitting him where possible.
News: Sixers G Lou Williams (lower back pain) missed his second straight game Wednesday against the Bucks. He did not travel with the team.
Analysis: Williams was only getting around 20 minutes per game prior to suffering back spasms. His numbers in March have been just mediocre as he's averaging 12.6 points, 3.8 assists and 3.2 rebounds. Don't activate him again until he can prove healthy and productive.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, 76ers G Lou Williams (back) did not practice Tuesday. He did not travel to Milwaukee with the team for their game Wednesday at the Bucks.
Analysis: Williams was only getting around 20 minutes per game prior to suffering back spasms. His numbers in March have been just mediocre as he's averaging 12.6 points, 3.8 assists and 3.2 rebounds. Don't activate him again until he can prove healthy and productive.
News: The Philadelphia Daily News is reporting that Sixers G Lou Williams (back spasms) will not make the trip to Milwaukee for their game against the Bucks on Wednesday night. He is considered day-to-day.
Analysis: Williams has minimal Fantasy value at this time. Prior to his injury, he was averaging 8.8 points over his last five contests. When he does come back, he will probably see a limited role and can remain reserved in all formats.
News: Sixers G Lou Williams did not play in Monday's contest against the Magic because of back spasms.
Analysis: Williams has minimal Fantasy value at this time. Prior to his injury, he was averaging 8.8 points over his last five contests. When he does come back, he will probably see a limited role and can remain reserved in all formats.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports 76ers guard Lou Williams is out for Monday's game against Orlando. Williams, who has been battling a lower back injury, missed the second half of Saturday's loss against the Bulls.
Analysis: Keep Williams reserved in all leagues to be safe. He could return during Fantasy Week 22, but he could also be limited with this back injury all week. When healthy, Williams has minimal Fantasy value.
News: Sixers guard Lou Williams didn't play in the second half Saturday against the Bulls because of back spasms. Williams scored just two points and grabbed two rebounds in 12 minutes.
Analysis: Williams is averaging just 8.8 points over his last five games to go along with 3.5 assists. He only provides Fantasy value in the deepest of leagues, and the Sixers only play three games in Fantasy Week 22 (March 22-28). If Williams is not healthy, it should be pretty safe to keep him reserved in all formats until healthy.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams returned from a one-game absence due to some back issues on Wednesday in a win over the Nets. Williams came off the bench for 18 minutes to score 11 points on 4 of 6 shooting. He hit the only 3-pointer he tried and added three assists.
Analysis: Williams has value as a 3-point specialist in deeper Fantasy leagues but he hasn't been contributing consistently offensively for the 76ers of late. His back spasms are still giving him fits and you might consider reserving him until he can get back to scoring the 14.6 ppg he averages for the season.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, 76ers G Lou Williams (back) will be a game-time decision for Wednesday's game against New Jersey. He was unable to play Monday against the Knicks after dealing with back spasms.
Analysis: Williams should be reserved in most daily lineup leagues until he can prove healthy.
News: Sixers G Lou Williams was unable to play Monday against the Knicks after dealing with back spasms.
Analysis: Williams had been struggling from the field as of late and the back spasms might have played a part in that. He has averaged just seven points in his last two contests. Until, he is able to come back healthy and produce, Williams can be reserved in all leagues. When he does return, he can be a viable No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sixers G Lou Williams will not play in Monday's game against the Knicks due to back spasms. He is considered day-to-day.
Analysis: Williams will now be a somewhat risky play in weekly formats for Fantasy Week 21 (March 15-21). However, Williams is day-to-day and will have three more chances to play during the scoring period. Perhaps the back issues could explain his recent shooting woes.
News: Fresh off a 30-point performance on Wednesday, Sixers G Lou Williams scored 22 points in a loss to the Celtics on Friday. Williams shot 9 of 15 from the floor while hitting two 3's, grabbing three rebounds and dishing out three assists. Williams has scored in double figures in his last five games.
Analysis: With Allen Iverson seemingly out for the season, Williams has been nothing short of exceptional in his absence. Williams is averaging 20 points over his last five contests while handing out 4.6 assists and hauling in four rebounds. He is currently playing like a low-end No. 2 Fantasy guard.
News: Sixers guard Lou Williams scored 30 points Wednesday against the Magic, falling a single point short of tying his season-high. In 38 minutes as a starter, he shot 11 of 15 from the field, 1 of 2 from long range. In a solid performance he added three rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block.
Analysis: Williams continues to play well in place of Allen Iverson and Willie Green, maybe even well enough to keep his name in the starting lineup. Over his last five games, he's averaging 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.4 assists. He's scored at least 20 points in four of his last nine outings. If he continues to start he can be considered a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News:Lou Williams wasn't surprised to find the ball in his hands near the perimeter -- even though Philadelphia coach Eddie Jordan designed the play to go inside. The way Williams' night was going, he figured it might come his way. Making his first start in nearly five weeks due to the absence of Allen Iverson, Williams scored 26 points, including a clinching 3-pointer with 14.5 seconds left, to help the 76ers beat the Warriors 110-102 on Tuesday night. Williams matched his career highs in 3-pointers (five) and rebounds (10) while adding seven assists to help the Sixers win in their first game since Iverson took an indefinite leave of absence to be with his ill daughter. Iverson is expected to miss at least the remaining two games on Philadelphia's road trip and has given no indication when he'll return while he deals with his personal issues. His absence didn't seem to affect the Sixers much, especially with the way Williams played.
Analysis: We hope to see more nights like this from Williams, who was having a breakout season to start the year before he broke his jaw and before Iverson joined the team. Now, with Iverson out, Williams might get back on track. He averaged 20.3 points in October and 16.5 points in November before the injury and is capable of playing at that level once again. Consider him a quality Fantasy option as long as Iverson is not with the team.
News: G Lou Williams, who played despite missing Wednesday's practice with a sprained ankle, scored 14 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, fueling a decisive run that lifted the Philadelphia 76ers to a 106-94 victory Friday night over the San Antonio Spurs. Williams shot 7 of 11 from the floor while adding five rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal in 25 minutes.
Analysis: Although a little inconsistent, Williams has played some of his best basketball over the last five games -- scoring in double figures in three of those contests. He is averaging 16 points, four assists and 3.6 rebounds in that span. If Williams could show some more consistency, he would be worthy of a low-end No. 2 Fantasy guard, but he remains more of a No. 4 option to be used based on matchups.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports via Twitter that 76ers guard Lou Williams missed practice Wednesday with a sprained ankle and will be listed as day to day. Williams played 24 minutes in Tuesday's loss against Miami and finished with nine points, six assists, five rebounds and two steals.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Williams' status and hope he can play against the Spurs. He is a No. 3 Fantasy guard in all formats when healthy.
News: Philadelphia SG Lou Williams scored 26 points against the Raptors on Wednesday. In 27 minutes he was 9 of 13 from the floor, 2 of 5 from 3-point range. He added five rebounds and two assists.
Analysis: Williams is a consistent player whose production is up of late. He's averaging 15.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.6 steals over his last five games, scoring in double figures in four of those contests. He is a solid No. 4 Fantasy guard who will always put up points for you.
News: Sixers PG Lou Williams scored 16 points and dished seven assists Tuesday against the Timberwolves. He shot 4 of 6 from the field, 1 of 1 from 3-point range. He added two rebounds and three steals.
Analysis: Williams has been a steady contributor, scoring in double figures 10 times in his last 13 games. He's averaging 12.2 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.4 steals over his last five contests. He remains a No. 4 Fantasy guard.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, 76ers G Allen Iverson missed Tuesday's practice due to personal reasons. He is officially listed as a game-time decision for Wednesday's game against Chicago. In his absence, Lou Williams and Jrue Holiday should see a boost in minutes and touches.
Analysis: There is no word as to what the personal matter is, but it appears there is a good chance he won't be back with the team by tipoff Wednesday. Fantasy owners in daily lineup leagues should plan to go with alternatives. Williams has lot much of his Fantasy appeal since the arrival of Iverson, but he could enjoy a solid game against the Bulls. Holiday's appeal is for deeper leagues. He's worth a flier in those formats as a one-game solution.
News: Philadelphia G Lou Williams scored 11 points to help defeat the Nets 83-79 on Sunday. Williams layed 28 minutes shooting 5 of 10 from the field. He added four steals, two rebounds, and five assists.
Analysis: Starting lineup changes by the Sixers have reduced Williams' role on the team. He is averaging just over seven points in his last three games despite averaging 14.5 for the season. His appeal has been reduced to that of a No. 4 guard in most leagues.
News: Sixers G Lou Williams scored 16 points as Philadelphia fell to Indiana 109-98 on Monday. In 28 minutes of play, Williams shot 5 of 7 from the field and dished out five assists as well as bringing in two rebounds.
Analysis: With Philadelphia seemingly content on their new starting lineup, things are not looking as bright for Williams. He got off to a strong start this year, but the jaw injury that sidelined him for a while and forced the team to sign Allen Iverson has created a situation where he can't be quite as productive as he was earlier in the year. His appeal has been reduced to that of a No. 4 guard in most leagues and it looks like things could get worse, though nothing is official yet.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, 76ers coach Eddie Jordan told reporters prior to Friday night's game against Dallas that he is considering re-inserting Elton Brand into the starting lineup. He did not do so for Friday's game, however. Brand would either replace Thaddeus Young at power forward, or Lou Williams would return to the bench with Young moving over to small forward and Andre Iguodala playing shooting guard.
Analysis: If it is indeed Williams that moves to the bench, this could be a death blow to his already fading Fantasy appeal.
News: Sixers G Lou Williams scored 15 points in a 108-103 overtime loss to Minnesota on Monday. In 27 minutes of action, Williams shot 6 of 11 from the field adding one rebound. Williams has only failed to reach double figures in scoring just once this month.
Analysis: With an aging Allen Iverson on the roster, Williams has been called upon to contribute for the Sixers. He has averaged just below 14 points per game in the month of January. However, he does not contribute much Fantasy value in other categories. His point production is worthy of keeping him around on your roster, but he should only be started if he has a favorable schedule for the Fantasy week.
News: Philadelphia G Lou Williams scored 23 points in a 108-106 loss to Toronto on Friday. Williams was 9 of 13 from the field with one rebound and two assists.
Analysis: Over his last five games, Williams has averaged 19 points per game. With Iverson battling knee arthritis, Williams may be called upon to pick up some slack. Fantasy owners should definitely keep Williams on their roster.
News: Philadelphia SG Lou Williams led all scorers on Wednesday in a win at Sacramento with 22 points on 9 of 15 shooting. Williams dished out four dimes and added four boards with two threes made in the game.
Analysis: Williams is averaging just 11.2 points per game over his last five games as he's taken a backseat to Allen Iverson in Philly. He's starting again but is going to have to prove able to score consistently alongside A.I. Williams belongs on all Fantasy rosters but continue to monitor how he and A.I. coexist.
News: Philadelphia SG Lou Williams played his first game along side Allen Iverson on Monday in a win at Portland. Williams continued to struggle however, scoring just nine points on 3 for 9 shooting. He added five assists and five rebounds to his stat line.
Analysis: Williams was outshined by Iverson on Monday as A.I. finished the game with 19 points on 7 for 11 shooting. It'll be interesting to see how the ball is spread around in the Sixers backcourt as both Williams and Iverson are capable scorers. Monitor both players' progress the rest of the week before making a decision on Williams for Fantasy Week 11 (Jan. 4-10).
News: According to the team's official Web site, Sixers coach Eddie Jordan said that Lou Williams would be held out of the starting lineup Tuesday at Washington. Jrue Holiday and Willie Green are expected to start. Williams will come off the bench.
Analysis: According to Jordan, Williams still needs a few more practices before he can get back to game shape. Williams, who returned from his jaw injury nearly a month early this weekend, is going to be a risky play until we see him prove healthy and until we see exactly how he will fare alongside Allen Iverson once he is healthy. Williams had emerged as a No. 2 or 3 guard type prior to his injury, but a lot has changed.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Lou Williams, who returned from his jaw injury nearly a month early this weekend, will join the starting lineup alongside Jrue Holiday for the team's next game Tuesday in Washington.
Analysis: Williams returned to Philadelphia's lineup after missing 12 games with a broken jaw, scoring six points in 23 minutes against the Clippers Saturday. Williams shot 2 of 9 from the field and 0 for 4 from beyond the arc, playing off the bench. Williams looked understandably rusty Saturday, but rookie Jrue Holiday looked even worse as the starting point guard. With Iverson not cleared to play in either of the team's two games in the upcoming scoring period, Williams could get a chance to round back into form fairly quickly. However, his two games make him someone to avoid in most cumulative formats for now.
News:Lou Williams returned to Philadelphia's lineup after missing 12 games with a broken jaw, scoring six points in 23 minutes against the Clippers Saturday. Williams shot 2 of 9 from the field and 0 for 4 from beyond the arc, playing off the bench.
Analysis: Williams' ahead-of-schedule return was welcome news to a team that was again without newly acquired Allen Iverson, who missed his second straight game with arthritis in his left knee. Iverson had the knee drained twice this week.
News: According to the team's official Twitter feed, Lou Williams will be activated for Saturday's game against the L.A. Clippers. Williams, who broke a bone in his jaw in late November, had been expected to miss two months at the time of his injury.
Analysis: The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Friday that Williams could return to game action as soon as December 26 at Utah. While it appears he will be activated, it remains to be seen how much -- if at all -- he will play. Keep close tabs on his progress over the weekend. The Sixers play three games in Fantasy Week 9 (Dec. 21-27).
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Lou Williams could return to game action as soon as December 26 at Utah. Williams, who broke a bone in his jaw in late November, had been expected to miss two months at the time of his injury.
Analysis: Williams seems to want to return, but the team will make sure there is no chance of a setback before he does. The addition of Allen Iverson seems to have done a lot to "speed up" his recovery timetable. Fantasy owners won't want to rely on him in weekly formats for Week 9 (Dec. 21-27) as he would only be available for one of two games. The good news here is that it doesn't sound like he'll be out the full two months and that you could have him back for Week 10 possibly. His role alongside Allen Iverson could change his output compared to what he was putting up earlier this season, but he remains worthy of your patience.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Allen Iverson has been announced as a starter alongside Andre Iguodala in the back court for Monday night's game against Denver. It will be Iverson's first game since Nov. 4. In addition, Sixers coach Eddie Jordan said that he sees Iverson as the starter for the remainder of the season, with Lou Williams playing alongside Iverson when he returns from his jaw injury.
Analysis: One way or another, Iverson's presence will remain a threat to the Fantasy appeal Williams had developed in his first season as a starter. This is good news in that he won't be asked to play a backup role behind Iverson once he gets back, but it will be interesting to see how things shake out come late January or early February if both players are healthy.
News:Allen Iverson is rejoining the Philadelphia 76ers. Sixers president Ed Stefanski announced the signing Wednesday on the team's Web site. Iverson is expected to make his debut Monday against the Denver Nuggets. Stefanski says in a news release that the team felt "Allen was the best available free agent guard to help" after the injury to Lou Williams, who will miss up to eight weeks. Iverson, his agent and business manager met with Stefanski, coach Eddie Jordan and two other members of the organization Monday. The 34-year-old Iverson announced his retirement last week after an ill-fated stint with the Memphis Grizzlies. The 10-time All-Star was NBA MVP in 2001 when he led the Sixers to the NBA finals.
Analysis: It might take Iverson some time to find his role with the Sixers, but he's expected to start at point guard ahead of rookie Jrue Holiday. Remember, this Sixers team is different than the one Iverson played for before going to Denver in 2006 with Andre Iguodala and Elton Brand the focal point of the offense. Still, it's hard to imagine Iverson not being a significant contributor on the offensive end, and he should be considered a No. 3 Fantasy guard once he starts playing Monday. We'll find out what happens once Williams returns, but Iverson should do well for the time being with Williams out.
News: 76ers guard Lou Williams will miss eight weeks after having surgery on his jaw Thursday morning. Williams broke his jaw in Philadelphia's loss to Washington on Tuesday night. Rookie Jrue Holiday started at point guard in place of Williams against Boston in a 113-110 loss on Wednesday.
Analysis: Williams' averages of 17.4 points and 5.1 assists are second-highest on the team behind Andre Iguodala. He should clearly be reserved in all formats but had been playing like a viable Fantasy starter before the injury. His absence will mean an increase in playing time and Fantasy value for rookie Jrue Holiday.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams will miss Wednesday's game against Boston with a fractured jaw. Williams was hurt in Tuesday night's loss against Washington and the team is uncertain when he'll be back in the lineup. "He's going to be evaluated extensively (Thursday)," coach Eddie Jordan said before his team's game against Boston. "That's when we'll have a better indication of his timetable."
Analysis: Williams, in his fourth season, has been one of the team's better players during the 5-9 start. He's averaged 17.4 points and 5.1 assists. "He's been a team leader. He's been terrific for us," Jordan said. Keep a close eye on this situation as it develops. He is absolutely worth stashing in all leagues with the way he's played this season as a starter.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Lou Williams will miss Wednesday's game at the Boston Celtics with a fracture in his jaw. He was elbowed Tuesday night and X-rays revealed a fracture.
Analysis: Williams is currently considered day to day, but this type of injury could keep him out a while -- even weeks. Keep a close eye on this situation as it develops. He is absolutely worth stashing in all leagues with the way he's played this season as a starter.
News: Sixers G Lou Williams had 22 points in Saturday's game at Cleveland, a game after going for 31 against Memphis. He added 5 assists, a steal
Analysis: Williams has scored at least 19 points in his last four games. He is hitting threes, getting steals and is becoming an excellent all-around Fantasy option. The high-end scoring is just icing on the cake. He's a great play in all formats right now.
News: Philadelphia guard Lou Williams registered a new season high in scoring on Friday in a loss to Memphis. Williams shot 12 of 16 from the field with four threes -- also a season high -- for 31 points. He added five assists and six steals. The steals were, you guessed it, a season high as well.
Analysis: Williams is having the best season of his career as he's averaging 16.3 points, 5.1 assists, 1.8 steals and a three per night in 12 games this season. Williams is playing like a must-start Fantasy option. If he's on your bench, get him active. Philadelphia plays four times in Week 5.
News: Sixers G Lou Williams had 7 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds in Tuesday's game against Boston. It was the first game in which he was held under 16 points.
Analysis: Williams got off to a great start in Week 1, but met much tougher opposition against Boston. Despite this slow game, we still like Williams as a breakout candidate at guard this year.
News: Sixers G Lou Williams had an outstanding game in Saturday's 141-127 overtime win at the Knicks. He scored 27 points with 10 rebounds and 7 assists. He also added a steal and committed just one turnover.
Analysis: Williams was a breakout candidate coming into the season in his first season as a starting point guard and he has not disappointed. Fantasy owners should start viewing him as a great play in any format, but he will face much tougher matchups in Week 3 -- including a game against one of the better defensive teams in the league in the Celtics.
News: Philadelphia dropped its season opener to the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night. Guard Lou Williams played 30 minutes for the Sixers and scored 18 points to lead all starters. He shot 6 of 9 and hit two threes. Williams added four assists and four boards.
Analysis: Williams began his season in the starting lineup and looked good in doing so. You'll want to see an improvement in assists but 18 points should make owners happy. Williams will be a solid Fantasy play this season almost every week.
News: The Trail Blazers signed veteran free agent guard Andre Miller to a three-year, $21 million deal on Friday. His departure leaves a void at point guard in Philadelphia with Lou Williams the leading candidate to replace him as the starter.
Analysis: Williams becomes a very interesting Fantasy sleeper with this news. He averaged 12.8 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds last season in 81 games while playing only 23.7 minutes per contest. With the added playing time and responsibility of being a starting point guard, his numbers could increase dramatically this year.
News: Sixers guard Lou Williams had 14 points, two assists and one rebound Tuesday against Boston. Williams has averaged 18.0 points and 2.6 assists in his past five games.
Analysis: Williams has proven to be a good scorer this season and had a breakout year in 2008-09. He could get a boost in value if Andre Miller doesn't return next year, but we'll have to wait until after the playoffs to find out what happens. For now, look at Williams as a No. 4 Fantasy guard.
News: Philadelphia SG Lou Williams scored 16 points, handed out three assists and grabbed a rebound in Thursday's 113-99 loss to the Bulls. Williams has now reached double digits in scoring in each of his last five contests.
Analysis: Williams has been scoring at an impressive clip recently, averaging 17.2 points per game with 2.4 assists and 1.8 rebounds. He does little other than score but can currently be used as a serviceable stopgap option.
News: Philadelphia SG Lou Williams was the only player on the entire Sixers roster to score in double digits in Sunday's 96-67 loss to the Nets. He went 4-for-15 off the bench, adding three rebounds and two assists to his stat line.
Analysis: Williams scored more points on Sunday than Andre Miller and Andre Iguodala combined who only put in 12 points. That doesn't mean he has half the Fantasy qualifications as either Iguodala or Miller, making him a low-end stopgap option.
News: Sixers SG Lou Williams went 7-of-10 from the field in Thursday's game against Milwaukee, handing out four assists and adding three rebounds. He also had two steals to add to hit stat line.
Analysis: Williams is averaging 11.6 points per game over his last five performances, having scored in double digits in three of his last four games. He has been getting minutes comparable to that of a starter but remains only a low-end stopgap option as the team's sixth man.
News: Sixers G Lou Williams had nine points off the bench in Monday's game at Portland. It was his first game under 18 points in four games.
Analysis: Williams shot just 2-for-7 from the field and Fantasy owners should chalk it up as a bad shooting night. He continues to see starter's minutes as the team's sixth man and is a viable stopgap measure in most standard formats.
News: Philadelphia SG Lou Williams scored at least 18 points for the fourth game in a row on Sunday at Sacramento. Williams dropped 18 on Sunday on 6-of-9 shooting with a three. He added five assists.
Analysis: Williams is averaging 17 points per game over his last five games and has four straight over 18 points. He's adding four dimes, three boards, 1.8 steals and over a three per game to those numbers and that makes him a decent option in 12-team leagues and deeper right now.
News: 76ers SG Lou Williams came off the bench Monday against the Nets to contribute 10 points, three assists and one rebound in 20 minutes. He has hit double figures in seven of nine February games. Williams is averaging 11.7 points in February.
Analysis: Williams' scoring has been on the decline since averaging a season-high 16.1 points in December, but he is still finding ways to contribute off the bench. The fourth-year forward is having a career year and is starting to showcase some of the potential that made him an intriguing draft pick coming out of high school in 2005. Consider Williams a low-end Fantasy forward.

Analysis: Williams is also averaging 4.6 assists, 3.4 rebounds and a steal per game. He's definitely worth owning and using in deeper leagues but owners would obviously prefer he weren't shooting this poorly.

Analysis: Williams has scored 20-plus points in three of his last four appearances and is averaging 17.1 points in December after averaging just 8.0 points in November. He seems to have found his niche and the Sixers have found some significant use again -- especially with the team needing to replace some of the void left with Elton Brand out a month. Fantasy owners should add him where possible and consider using him in any league while he stays hot.

Analysis: Williams missed the previous game against the Cavs but was back Saturday. He didn't miss a beat and he's averaging 16.5 points and three assists over his last five contests. He's picking up the scoring and that should continue as the Sixers don't play with a deep bench. He's fine for Fantasy Week 8 (Dec. 15-21) and should be starting in deeper leagues because of his scoring ability.

Analysis: Could this mean you should think about adding Williams in the 77 percent of Fantasy leagues he's available in? The scoring burst comes with starter Andre Miller in a bit of a shooting slump and Williams had been seeing an increase in playing time. He's definitely worth keeping an eye on, though we wouldn't rush out and pick him up in anything but deeper leagues for the moment, especially after scoring just two points in 15 minutes in the Sixers last game against the Bulls.

Analysis: Williams has four games with over 15 points and one game with just two. He was the primary scorer off the bench last season and continues that trend over the first five games of this year. His numbers should only continue to rise for the 76ers and that keeps him a decent low-end Fantasy option worthy of starting in most weeks in deeper leagues.

Analysis: The usual suspects, Andre Iguodala, Andre Miller and Elton Brand are must-starts through thick and thin. Lou Williams is a decent low-end starting option this week in deeper Head-to-Head leagues where low-end double digit scoring and little else may be appealing. The same goes for Willie Green, who will have to adjust to life off the bench after starting the last two seasons. Green could find himself back in the starting lineup if Young is unable to play at any point. Keep low-end options like Reggie Evans, Marreese Speights, Theo Ratliff, Kareem Rush and Jason Smith reserved this week.

Analysis: Does Williams score in double figures more often than not? Yes. Does that quality make him a reliable Fantasy option? No. Coming off the bench, he'll have games like this one, and with 11 points per game really his only asset, he shouldn't function as more than a stopgap guard in Fantasy.

This is a game that hopefully turns it around for him."
