The Fantasy Basketball Weekly Planner is the essential guide to setting your lineup for the upcoming week. Each week, we provide you with top matchups, the latest news and give you the scoop on injured players.

Projections are for March 31-April 6 games.

Teams with four games (18): Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, Golden State, Houston, Indiana, L.A. Clippers, Memphis, Miami, Milwaukee, Minnesota, New Orleans, New York, Phoenix, Sacramento, Toronto, Washington

Teams with back-to-back games (15): Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Cleveland, Denver, Golden State, Houston, L.A. Clippers, Milwaukee, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Toronto, Washington

On tap: The week ahead features 11 nationally televised games: Denver at Phoenix on Monday; Phoenix at Denver on Tuesday; Indiana at Boston on Wednesday and Golden State at Dallas on Wednesday; Chicago at Cleveland and Houston at Portland on Thursday; Dallas at L.A. Lakers on Friday; Orlando at Cleveland and Atlanta at Philadelphia on Saturday; Golden State at New Orleans and Dallas at Phoenix on Sunday.

FULLCOURT PRESS

Cleveland G Daniel Gibson (ankle) was able to practice Thursday and expects to play Saturday at Detroit. Use that game to gage where he's at. Delonte West will be a poor Fantasy option in the upcoming week with Gibson back in the mix. ... Cleveland F/C Ben Wallace has been suffering from back spasms that will likely keep him out through the weekend. The Cavs don't play a game in Week 23 until Wednesday, though, and that should give him enough time to recover. With the Cavs slated for three games, play him at your own risk. ... Dallas F Dirk Nowitzki (leg) is out for at least the upcoming scoring period and possibly the next. Malik Allen is starting in his place, but is not a suitable Fantasy replacement. Brandon Bass has been a letdown in the two games without Nowitzki. ... Detroit G Richard Hamilton (hip) has missed three straight games and with the Pistons all but locked into their playoff position there is no need to rush him back. Consider him a very risky start if he doesn't play Saturday against Cleveland. ... Golden State G Mickael Pietrus has a mildly strained right hamstring and groin, making a return in the next week very questionable. Al Harrington has started at power forward in his place with Matt Barnes seeing a boost in minutes. ... Indiana F Jermaine O'Neal (knee) says he's "likely" to return in Week 23. With the Pacers slated for four games, he's certainly worth the risk. But Fantasy owners should realize that it's just that -- a risk. He hasn't played since mid-January. There is still no sign of Jamaal Tinsley (knee). ... L.A. Clippers F Elton Brand "may" return April 2 at Seattle if all goes according to plan. However, that's still a big if. His return has been pushed back several times already. His Fantasy owners are in the same boat as O'Neal except Brand hasn't played all year. ... Miami F Shawn Marion (back) continues to sit and there is still no indication that he'll return anytime soon -- if at all this season. All we know is that he "hopes to play again this season." Starting him means risking a big fat zero in head-to-head league playoff scenarios. ... Miami G Jason Williams (thumb) could return this week, but the current state of the Heat makes any of their injured players a big risk at this point. ... Milwaukee C Andrew Bogut (nose) is not expected to miss any time despite suffering what is believed to be a fracture. ... New York G Nate Robinson (knee) has missed three straight games and is still considered day-to-day. Consider him to risky to start if he sits out again Sunday at Atlanta. ... Washington G Gilbert Arenas (knee) is to be re-evaluated again on Monday. Monitor his situation on Monday afternoon, as his situation likely won't clear up until hours before game time as was the case this week.

F I V E   T E A M S   W I T H   F A V O R A B L E   M A T C H U P S
The following five teams have the best matchups for the upcoming week. That doesn't necessarily mean they will post the best Fantasy stats, but if you're looking for a one-week start or are trying to make a difficult decision between two players to use, lean toward players from these teams:
Team 3/31 1/1 1/2 1/3 1/4 1/5 1/6
Dallas Mavericks (DAL) @LAC -- GS -- @LAL -- @PHO
Dirk Nowitzki's absence hasn't sparked much Fantasy value in the likes of Brandon Bass or Erick Dampier in the frontcourt, but Jerry Stackhouse's play has taken off. He's scored at least 18 points in the two games since Dirk went down and he even added eight rebounds and six assists Thursday against Denver. He'll get a chance to continue that success against four teams that allow over 100 points per game. The Warriors allow the most points in the league at 108.0 ppg and the Suns allow 105.3 ppg. Jason Terry should heat up in Week 23.
Denver Nuggets (DEN) @PHO PHO -- -- -- SAC @SEA
They'll play a couple of back-to-back sets, but Fantasy owners couldn't have picked a much better week for them matchup-wise unless they could somehow manage to play themselves. The Nuggets, who allow 105.6 ppg, will face opponents that allow a combined 105.3 ppg. Who says they can't hit 168 points again? J.R. Smith is a great one-week stopgap option.
Memphis Grizzlies (MEM) ATL -- NY -- GS -- @MIN
Their only "tough" matchup this week comes against a Hawks team that allows 99.0 ppg in the first game. After that, they'll face the Knicks (102.4 ppg), Warriors (108.0 ppg) and Timberwolves (101.2 ppg). Fantasy owners can look to Memphis for guard help off the waiver wire as a result. Mike Conley starts at the point and plays around 25 minutes per night and can provide Fantasy owners with scoring around 10 points. Kyle Lowry backs him up and sees similar minutes, with better assist and rebound numbers despite coming off the bench. And lately, Jarvaris Crittendon has gotten into the mix. He's available in all leagues and has scored at least 13 points in back-to-back games off the bench.
Milwaukee Bucks (MIL) -- NY @WAS -- IND -- @IND
The Pacers allow 106.0 ppg, fourth most in the league, and the Bucks get to face them twice. The Knicks give up 102.4 ppg and that means the Bucks should hit triple-digits atleast a couple of times in Week 23. Look for Charlie Villanueva to have a solid week. Desmond Mason is also worth a look in larger leagues.
Phoenix Suns (PHO) DEN @DEN -- -- MIN -- DAL
As mentioned above, the Nuggets allow 105.6 ppg. That's fifth most in the league and the Suns will start off the week by playing against them twice. Those two games should be a couple of high-flying track meets with players like Raja Bell, Leandro Barbosa and Boris Diaw getting into the mix. The Timberwolves allow 101.2 ppg as well.
F I V E   T E A M S   W I T H   P O O R   M A T C H U P S
The following five teams have the worst matchups for the upcoming week. That doesn't necessarily mean you should reserve every player from these teams, but try to avoid less-heralded performers from these squads if you have an alternative on your roster:
Team 3/31 1/1 1/2 1/3 1/4 1/5 1/6
Charlotte Bobcats (CHA) TOR -- CLE -- @TOR BOS --
Sure, they play four games this week. But so do 17 other teams and most of them don't have to go up against only teams that allow under 98 ppg. Emeka Okafor has only recently been released from head coach Sam Vincent's doghouse and if you got by without him, you may want to consider staying with your alternate.
Chicago Bulls (CHI) -- BOS -- @CLE -- WAS --
They are in the minority this week, as one of the 12 teams that play just three games. All three come against opponents who allow under 100 ppg. The Celtics allow the least points in the league at 90.5 ppg and also allow the third fewest rebounds per game at 39.1 rpg. Ben Gordon has been struggling and is a player to consider reserving in Week 23.
Golden State Warriors (GS) -- @SA @DAL -- @MEM -- @NO
The Warriors score the most points in the league, so they are used to spreading the ball around to five or six players every night for double-digit scoring. That's not likely to happen this week outside of the Memphis game. They'll take the dreaded trip through Texas to face a Spurs team that allows just 91.0 ppg and a Mavs team that allows 95.6 ppg. Then, they'll wrap up the week at a New Orleans team that give up just 95.2 ppg. Don't rely heavily on the Mickael Pietrus and Kelenna Azubuike of the world in Week 23.
New Jersey Nets (NJ) -- PHI -- -- @DET TOR --
They are one of the 12 teams that play just three games. And much llike the Bulls, they'll play three opponents who allow under 100 ppg. The Sixers are a direct playoff rival and their game should be a grind-it-out slugfest against a team that allows under 96.0 ppg. The Pistons allow the second fewest points in the league at 90.7 ppg and the Raptors allow 96.9 ppg.
Orlando Magic (ORL) -- NO -- -- -- @CLE @NY
They do have one favorable matchup at the Knicks, but that game comes on the back end of back-to-back sets at the end of the week. Prior to that, they'll have two tough games against a red-hot Hornets team that allows just 95.2 ppg and against a Cavs team on the road that allows 97.4 ppg. If it's not Dwight Howard, Rashard Lewis or Hedo Turkoglu, think twice.

Amar'e Stoudemire
Stoudemire shifts focus to hoop
Amar'e Stoudemire, PF, NY
12:09 PM
News: New York F Amar'e Stoudemire returned to practice Monday after spending the past week in Florida to mourn the death of his brother, according to Newsday. Stoudemire is expected to play in Tuesday's game at Toronto. "I can't wait to get him back," Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni said. "We should go to another level, no doubt about it." Stoudemire is averaging 18.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game this season.
Analysis: Stoudemire returns to the team at an interesting time as G Jeremy Lin has created tremendous buzz with his sterling production while Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony have been sidelined. But Stoudemire could benefit from Lin's pick-and-roll ability and improve on his average of 7.0 field goals a game -- his lowest total since his rookie season (minimum 10 games). Consider Stoudemire a must-start in all Fantasy formats.

Brook Lopez
Lopez wants to get rolling
Brook Lopez, C, NJ
1:13 PM
News: New Jersey C Brook Lopez said he is prepared to return to practice after being sidelined all season because of a broken foot. Lopez has been kept to minimal participation after having surgery in December to repair a stress fracture in his foot. There is no timetable for his return. "I don’t really think there’s anything (left to do)," Lopez told The Star-Ledger. "We just have to keep putting it together and keep trying to get into shape and the next opportunity at practice, hopefully I’ll be able to participate."
Analysis: That opportunity to practice could come as early as this week after Nets general manager Billy King said Lopez has been "on schedule" with his recovery. Still, New Jersey will continue to be cautious with Lopez, who is approaching the two-month mark on the bench since having surgery on Dec. 23. "Patience is the key when you’re talking about a small bone in a 7-foot guy’s foot," Nets coach Avery Johnson said. "We’d like to not have any setbacks." Fantasy owners should monitor Lopez's status, but keep him benched for Week 8 (Feb. 13-19).

Spencer Hawes
Hawes hopeful for Friday
Spencer Hawes, C, PHI
1:06 PM
News: Philadelphia coach Doug Collins said Monday he is "hoping" 76ers C Spencer Hawes (back) will be able to return for Friday's game against Dallas, according to the team. Hawes did not accompany the team on its three-game road trip that concludes Wednesday at Orlando.
Analysis: Hawes has become an increasingly frustrating Fantasy player recently and has missed 13 of the past 15 games because of persistent injuries. He started the season with three double-doubles in his first four outings, but his season averages have dipped to 10.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. With the possibility of only playing two games, Fantasy owners should consider sitting Hawes again for Week 8 (Feb. 13-19).

Klay Thompson
Thompson leaves impression
Klay Thompson, SG, GS
2:31 PM
News: Golden State G Klay Thompson recorded 14 points and four rebounds during the Warriors' 106-97 victory over Houston on Sunday. Thompson connected on 5 of 10 attempts, including a scorching 4 for 6 from 3-point range, to finish with double figures in points for the second straight game. He has now drained at least three treys over his past four outings and is a sizzling 12 for 16 (75 percent) from downtown during that span.
Analysis: Thompson, who was a first-round selection in the previous NBA draft, has meshed well with point guard Stephen Curry and is averaging a solid 10.8 points per game this month. "The thing I love about him is that nothing bothers him," Warriors coach Mark Jackson told the San Francisco Chronicle. "He's a great shooter, but he's a big-time competitor. He's an underrated defender, an underrated passer. It's scary to think just how good he's going to be." Fantasy owners should consider Thompson a quality addition in deeper formats if he continues to improve.

David West
Coach wants best of West
David West, PF, IND
2:07 PM
News: Pacers coach Frank Vogel is hoping F David West can continue his recent assertive play on offense. After a discussion with Vogel last week, West has scored 22 points in each of his past two games and registered his first double-double since Jan. 9 last Friday at Memphis. "His greatest strength since he's gotten here is his desire to just fit in and be a part of this team and do whatever is going to help this team be a team-first team," Vogel told the Indianapolis Star. "He's our best ball mover. ... The more aggressive that he is, the more the defense is going to come to him so it's going to free up his passing even more."
Analysis: Vogel lauded West's unselfish nature, but that has affected his production and limited him to an average of 12.4 points per game this season -- his lowest mark since his second year in the league (6.2). "I just think if you're selfish and you're only thinking about what you need to do, you're not going to help the team," West said. "If you're good to the game, the game will be good to you. I've always lived by that motto." Fantasy owners should consider utilizing West in most formats for Week 8 (Feb. 13-19) as the Pacers battle Miami, Cleveland, New Jersey and Charlotte.

Kemba Walker
Walker slated for bench?
Kemba Walker, PG, CHA
12:37 PM
News: Bobcats G Kemba Walker is expected to serve as the backup point guard once G D.J. Augustin returns from a toe injury, according to the Charlotte Observer. Walker has been the starting point guard since Augustin went down with the injury in mid-January and topped double figures in scoring during eight of the 11 games. He also recorded the third triple-double in franchise history against Washington on Jan. 28.
Analysis: There was the possibility Walker could shift back to the two-guard once Augustin returned, but Bobcats coach Paul Silas apparently likes his recent production at the point. Walker has remained steady with his passing and is averaging 3.6 assists per game this season. Augustin could return to action as early as Wednesday so Fantasy owners should be aware of a possible dip in playing time for Walker in Week 8 (Feb. 13-19).

Marco Belinelli
Belinelli shooting to improve
Marco Belinelli, SG, NO
1:53 PM
News: Hornets G Marco Belinelli currently leads the team with 37 3-pointers made this season. He also has fired twice as many attempts as anyone else with a whopping 107 shots for a career-low 34.6 percent clip from beyond the arc this season. "I know that’s not really good for me because I knew this year I needed to score more," Belinelli told the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "I think the last couple of games were pretty good, but I need to be more aggressive every game." Belinelli is averaging 9.7 points per game overall this season.
Analysis: Belinelli netted 41 percent of his attempts from long range last season, but has been unable to duplicate the steady production. However, he has drained two treys in two of his past three outings to improve his accuracy to 40.9 this month. "We have to keep him confident and don’t let him go through a shell or get bashed for it," Hornets G Jarrett Jack said. "He’s a gunslinger, and he’s got to come out with that kind of mentality every night." Fantasy owners should continue to track Belinelli's progress and consider him a low-end option in deeper formats for now.

Carmelo Anthony
Anthony still missing practice
Carmelo Anthony, SF, NY
12:19 PM
News: New York F Carmelo Anthony was unable to return to practice Monday as he continues to be bothered by a strained right groin, according to Newsday. Anthony has missed the past three games with the issue and is unlikely to play against Toronto on Tuesday.
Analysis: Anthony was originally expected to miss one to two weeks with the injury and it appears he will be sidelined for the longer side of the timetable. The Knicks play four times during Fantasy Week 8 (Feb. 13-19), including a back-to-back set Tuesday and Wednesday, but Anthony seems to be a risky option for the scoring period. He is averaging a team-high 22.3 points per game this season and should be viewed as a must-start when active.

Evan Turner
Turner remaining patient
Evan Turner, SG, PHI
1:40 PM
News: Despite a decrease in minutes recently, 76ers G Evan Turner said Monday he does not have a concern over his playing time. Turner has been held to less than 20 minutes in two of his past three games while netting just 16 points over that span. "It's just one of those situations and we have to do what's best for the team and certain situations coach tries to do what's best out there and that's it." Turner told the Philadelphia Daily News.
Analysis: Turner saw a rise in playing time last Saturday when he logged 23 minutes at Cleveland, but that total is still below his average of 24.7 for the year. "You just have to move on with each game," said Turner, who is posting 9.2 points per game. "We have so many games coming up. ... You have to just be prepared." With no reports of the 23-year-old being in trouble, Fantasy owners should view Turner as a low-end Fantasy option for now.

JaVale McGee
Clearing the air helps McGee
JaVale McGee, C, WAS
1:30 PM
News: Washington C JaVale McGee has credited an unlikely source for his recent strong play: a new asthma medicine. McGee visited a doctor last week and has make a solid impact since, combining for 46 points and 24 rebounds in his past two games. "They said I was breathing at like 75 percent," McGee told the Washington Post. "I feel a lot better. I feel I can stay out there longer now. I got to just take my medicine."
Analysis: McGee has overcome a sluggish start to open February when he scored just 34 points combined in the first five games of the month. But he has now posted back-to-back double-doubles for just the second time this season and is also contributing on the defensive side for the Wizards (2.9 blocks per game). With Portland, Clippers and Utah on tap in Fantasy Week 8 (Feb. 13-19), consider utilizing McGee in most formats.
