Week 16 Fantasy Basketball Planner

By | Fantasy Writer

The Fantasy Basketball Weekly Planner is the essential guide to setting your lineup for the upcoming week. Every week, we provide you with top matchups, the latest news and give you the scoop on injured players.

Fantasy Week 16 (Feb. 2-8)

Teams with two games: Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Golden State, Houston, Indiana, L.A. Clippers, L.A. Lakers, Memphis, Miami, Milwaukee, New Orleans, New York, Oklahoma City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, San Antonio, Toronto

Teams with one game: Minnesota, New Jersey, Orlando, Utah

*All stats heading into play Saturday

Atlanta Hawks
Schedule: WAS, @DET
Injury Report: Mike Bibby (foot/day-to-day); The Hawks are "hoping" he returns Tuesday. Start him at your own risk.
Slam Dunk: Josh Smith, Joe Johnson
Tough Call: Marvin Williams is on a roll. Start him in any sized league as a No. 2 or 3 forward. Al Horford does not look to be 100 percent yet after missing extended time due to injury. Where possible, give him the shortened week off and hope he can be back to full strength after the break. Ronald Murray has been an underused Fantasy talent. Use him as a No. 3 or 4 guard in Week 16 if needed.
One Week Boom: Marvin Williams, Ronald Murray

Boston Celtics
Schedule: @NO, @DAL
Injury Report: No significant injuries.
Slam Dunk: Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen
Tough Call: Kendrick Perkins is not a recommended option this week. The C's face two tough low-scoring matchups and Perkins is a low-end No. 2 option. Eddie House remains an option only in deep category-based leagues for cheap help in threes.
One Week Bust: Kendrick Perkins

Charlotte Bobcats
Schedule: LAC, WAS
Injury Report: Gerald Wallace (ribs/out until at least Feb. 17 at Orlando); Raja Bell (groin/out until at least Feb. 17 at Orlando); Juwan Howard (toe/day-to-day); Wallace and Bell are out until at least after the break and won't be available in Week 16. Howard could play and may start in place of Wallace this week, but he is not worth taking a gamble on.
Slam Dunk: Emeka Okafor, Raymond Felton
Tough Call: With Bell out, D.J. Augustin could see a nice Fantasy boost this week, especially with two very favorable matchups. Boris Diaw is a solid play.
One Week Boom: Boris Diaw

Top 10 Players Added

1. Anthony Johnson, G, Magic 36
2. Ronny Turiaf, C, Warriors 22
3. Tyrus Thomas, F, Bulls 15
4. Mike Conley, G, Grizzlies 15
5. Lamar Odom, F, Lakers 12
6. Zach Randolph, F, Clippers 12
7. Zydrunas Ilgauskas, C, Cavaliers 12
8. Samuel Dalembert, C, 76ers 12
9. Al Horford, C, Hawks 11
10. Ryan Anderson, F, Nets 10

Chicago Bulls
Schedule: DET, MIA
Injury Report: Drew Gooden (groin/day-to-day); Gooden is expected to come off the bench when he does return. Avoid him in Week 16.
Slam Dunk: Luol Deng, Ben Gordon, Derrick Rose
Tough Call: Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah are seeing a boost with Gooden sidelined. They still make decent stopgap plays in Week 16, but be aware that their production could drop suddenly. Kirk Hinrich and Andres Nocioni should be looked at only as a low-end stopgaps where needed.
One Week Bust: Joakim Noah

Cleveland Cavaliers
Schedule: @IND, PHO
Injury Report: Sasha Pavlovic (flu/day-to-day); Delonte West (wrist/out until late February); Pavlovic is an injury-risk this week, but he should continue to get playing time in West's place as long as he remains out and can make a low-end stopgap option for deeper leagues. Start him at your own risk.
Slam Dunk: LeBron James, Mo Williams
Tough Call: The Cavs have a pair of matchups against teams that allow 100-plus points. This is a good week to activate Zydrunas Ilgauskas in any league. Wally Szczerbiak and Daniel Gibson could be used in a pinch in deeper leagues. Anderson Varejao and Ben Wallace, however, should be avoided with Big Z back.
One Week Boom: Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Wally Szczerbiak, Daniel Gibson

Dallas Mavericks
Schedule: SAC, BOS
Injury Report: Jason Terry (hand/out indefinitely); Jerry Stackhouse (heel/out until at least Feb. 12 vs. Boston); Terry broke his hand in Saturday's game against Chicago and was to be re-evaluated Sunday. He is clearly going to be out a while. Stackhouse could be back from a 40-plus game absence this week, but he has some catching up to do. Avoid him for now.
Slam Dunk: Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd, Josh Howard
Tough Call: Brandon Bass is playing good minutes and is seeing a bigger role with each game. Use him as a No. 2 center in a pinch in leagues where he is eligible. Erick Dampier is not recommended. Jose Juan Barea will see a much bigger role with Terry out, but he remains just a low-end option for use in leagues of 12-plus teams for now. He is worth taking a flier on in any league off the waiver wire, though.
One Week Boom: Brandon Bass

Denver Nuggets
Schedule: @MIA, @ORL
Injury Report: No significant injuries.
Slam Dunk: Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Nene
Tough Call: The Nuggets have two matchups against teams that allow under 100 points per game. That doesn't bode well for fringe options like Kenyon Martin, J.R. Smith and Linas Kleiza. Treat them as low-end options in Week 16. Avoid Dahntay Jones despite his solid performance in Week 15.
One Week Bust: Kenyon Martin, J.R. Smith, Linas Kleiza

Detroit Pistons
Schedule: @CHI, ATL
Injury Report: No significant injuries.
Slam Dunk: Allen Iverson
Tough Call: Rodney Stuckey has been dealing with a thigh injury that has affected his output. He still remains worthy of use in most standard formats as at least a No. 3 guard with his upside, but use healthier options if they compare favorably. Rasheed Wallace is on an offensive upswing. Start him as a No. 2 center in any league and even as a low-end No. 1 option in deeper formats. Tayshaun Prince is a strong play.
One Week Boom: Rasheed Wallace, Tayshaun Prince

Best Fantasy schedules
Team Schedule
1. Trail Blazers OKC, @GS
2. Knicks @GS, @LAC
3. Cavaliers @IND, PHO
4. Bobcats LAC, WAS
5. Heats DEN, @CHI

Golden State Warriors
Schedule: NY, POR
Injury Report: Andris Biedrins (ankle/out indefinitely); Biedrins is not likely to return until after the All-Star break. Leave him reserved.
Slam Dunk: Stephen Jackson, Corey Maggette, Jamal Crawford
Tough Call: With Biedrins out, Ronny Turiaf should see some starts and added playing time. In leagues where he is eligible at center, he can be used as a one-week stopgap No. 2 option. Monta Ellis is not yet 100 percent, but he is scoring in double figures and should continue to progress. The game against the Knicks should help matters there. Use Kelenna Azubuike as a stopgap in leagues of 12-plus teams.
One Week Boom: Ronny Turiaf, Monta Ellis

Houston Rockets
Schedule: @MIL, SAC
Injury Report: No significant injuries.
Slam Dunk: Yao Ming
Tough Call: Ron Artest is dealing with a stiff back and is not producing at his normal level. View him as no more than a No. 3 forward until he can prove healthy for an extended amout of time. Tracy McGrady is healthy and playing. Take advantage of that while it lasts. Use Luis Scola as a No. 3 or 4 forward option. Rafer Alston is on an offensive upswing and makes for a decent stopgap this week.
One Week Boom: Tracy McGrady, Luis Scola, Rafer Alston

Indiana Pacers
Schedule: CLE, @MIL
Injury Report: Danny Granger, (knee/day-to-day); Granger is playing through a knee injury, but has said he cannot afford to take any time off. His production has remained high. Fantasy owners should consider him a minor injury risk play, but he is certainly worth taking that sort of gamble on.
Slam Dunk: Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy
Tough Calls: With Granger scoring 33 points in Friday's game against Orlando and no fewer than 18 points in any of his last five games, bum knee and all, we say he's a start this week unless the team says he will be shut down through the All-Star break before lineup deadlines are due. T.J. Ford is a strong play in any league this week. Jarrett Jack is a decent low-end start in leagues of 12-plus teams. Avoid Jeff Foster and Marquis Daniels where possible.
One Week Boom: T.J. Ford

Los Angeles Clippers
Schedule: @CHA, NY
Injury Report: Chris Kaman (foot/out until mid-February); Kaman is highly unlikely to return until after the All-Star break. Reserve him in all leagues.
Slam Dunk: Marcus Camby, Baron Davis, Eric Gordon
Tough Call: Zach Randolph appears to be making up for lost time and is back to his elite production. Get him back active again in all leagues. Al Thornton has found a way to remain productive even with Randolph back and remains a solid play in all leagues this week.
One Week Boom: Zach Randolph, Al Thornton

Los Angeles Lakers
Schedule: OKC, @UTA
Injury Report: Andrew Bynum (knee/out until late March).
Slam Dunk: Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol
Tough Call: With Bynum out, Lamar Odom got a huge boost in Fantasy value and he is back to the level he was at last season when Bynum was injured. Treat him as a No. 3 forward with No. 2 upside as long as Bynum remains out. Trevor Ariza should enjoy a boost in the long-term with Odom no longer splitting a sixth man role with him, but it has not happened yet. Keep him reserved.
One Week Boom: Lamar Odom

Memphis Grizzlies
Schedule: NO, @PHI
Injury Report: Rudy Gay (hip/day-to-day); Kyle Lowry (ankle/day-to-day); Gay was held out of Saturday's game with a hip flexor strain. He will be an injury risk for the upcoming scoring period.
Slam Dunk: O.J. Mayo
Tough Call: With Gay's injury, Fantasy owners will need to monitor him likely through lineup deadlines. The team should re-evaluate him on Sunday or Monday. The Grizzlies have two tough matchups this week against two teams that allow under 100 points per game, but Gay would be a must-start if he is able to play through the injury. Marc Gasol has been elevated to the ranks of No. 3 or 4 guards since the team's recent coaching change, though the matchups are not overly favorable this week. View him as more of a No. 4 option. Marc Gasol is a very low-end No. 2 center this week. Hakim Warrick is a No. 4 forward option.
One Week Bust: Marc Gasol

Miami Heat
Schedule: DEN, @CHI
Injury Report: Daequan Cook (thigh/day-to-day); Cook's status for Week 16 likely will not be determined until Monday. Avoid using him this week.
Slam Dunk: Dwyane Wade
Tough Call: Shawn Marion is back in the lineup and is getting big minutes again. The trade rumors are not going to go away until a deal gets done or the deadline passes on Feb. 19, but he remains a good play as a No. 2 or 3 forward option as long as he continues to play. We don't think he will be traded mid-week prior to the All-Star break, so he should be a safe play. Use Michael Beasley in a similar role. Udonis Haslem remains a decent low-end starter at forward, but is more appealing in leagues where he is eligible at center. The two matchups are against teams that allow 100-plus points. Use Mario Chalmers as a No. 3 guard in any league.
One Week Boom: Mario Chalmers, Shawn Marion, Udonis Haslem

Milwaukee Bucks
Schedule: HOU, IND
Injury Report: Andrew Bogut (back/out unil March); Luke Ridnour (thumb/out until March); Michael Redd (knee/out for the season); Obviously, none of these players will be available for Week 16.
Slam Dunk: Richard Jefferson
Tough Call: With the team dealing with so many injuries, the Bucks have several spare parts that can be of use in all Fantasy formats. Ramon Sessions' 44 points on Saturday makes it clear he's ready to be activated in any league. He benefits most from Redd's absence, but also Ridnour's. Charlie Villanueva is an absolute monster down low for the Bucks right now, start him everywhere as well. Francisco Elson is going to start and get some good minutes, but is not yet a recommended Fantasy start. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute is not producing enough despite starting right now and should be reserved where possible. Charlie Bell should see a bit of a boost, but is more of a low-end stopgap for now.
One Week Boom: Ramon Sessions, Charlie Villanueva

Minnesota Timberwolves
Schedule: TOR
Injury Report: Craig Smith (ribs/out until late February); Smith is dealing with cracked ribs and will be out until after the break.
Slam Dunk: Al Jefferson
Tough Call: The T'Wolves are one of four teams this week with only one game. In average-based leagues, Randy Foye and Kevin Love should start. In cumulative formats, weigh your options. Ryan Gomes and Mike Miller should be avoided where possible.
One Week Bust: Ryan Gomes, Mike Miller

New Jersey Nets
Schedule: SA
Injury Report: Yi Jianlian (finger/out until late February); Bobby Simmons (abdomen/out until mid-February); Yi and Simmons will not be back in the lineup until after the break. Neither will be available for Week 16.
Slam Dunk: None
Tough Call: The Nets are riding a four-game winning streak and are playing good team ball, but they face the toughest matchups (or matchup) of the week. They play just one game and it comes against a Spurs team that allows under 95 points per game. Devin Harris, Vince Carter and Brook Lopez should start in most average-based leagues, but Fantasy owners will have to weigh options in cumulative formats. Rookie Ryan Anderson is playing well with Yi out, but should be avoided everywhere this week.
One Week Bust: Brook Lopez, Ryan Anderson

New Orleans Hornets
Schedule: @MEM, BOS
Injury Report: Chris Paul (groin/day-to-day); Tyson Chandler (ankle/day-to-day); Paul was not expected to play in Sunday's game against Minnesota, making him a risky play for the upcoming scoring period. The Hornets have a quick turnaround and will play Monday. That is good news for Fantasy because there more than likely will be an announcement made prior to Monday's tip. Just make plans in case he is ruled out. Chandler is a player who should be reserved until he can prove healthy and productive again.
Slam Dunk: David West
Tough Call: With Paul banged up, David West and Peja Stojakovic are carrying the load. Both should start in all leagues in Week 16. Rasual Butler can be thought of as a low-end stopgap for leagues of 12-plus teams. Avoid James Posey where possible.
One Week Boom: Peja Stojakovic

New York Knicks
Schedule: @GS, @LAC
Injury Report: No significant injuries.
Slam Dunk: David Lee, Al Harrington, Chris Duhon
Tough Call: The Knicks should be in triple digits in both games this week against teams that allow over 100 points. This is a good week to play Nate Robinson as a result. Wilson Chandler has adjusted well to his new role off the bench and is a suitable stopgap option as a No. 4 option. Avoid using Danilo Gallinari until he can show some more consistency. Quentin Richardson and Tim Thomas are not recommended plays right now.
One Week Boom: Nate Robinson

Oklahoma City Thunder
Schedule: @LAL, @POR
Injury Report: Nenad Krstic (flu/day-to-day); Krstic is likely to be over his flu by the team begins the week Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Slam Dunk: Kevin Durant, Jeff Green, Russell Westbrook
Tough Call: Nick Collison has thrived with Krstic sidelined, but he has been the most productive of the two players when both have been active anyway. In leagues where he is eligible at center, he is a viable option as a No. 2 this week. Earl Watson has had some positive efforts lately, but his bench role makes him inconsistent. Avoid using him as anything more than a No. 4 option this week. Krstic should be avoided for now and Chris Wilcox is not even getting playing time anymore.
One Week Boom: Nick Collison

Orlando Magic
Schedule: DEN
Injury Report: Jameer Nelson (shoulder/out indefinitely); There is a real distinct possibility that Nelson will miss the rest of the season. He certainly will not be available in Week 16.
Slam Dunk: Dwight Howard, Rashard Lewis, Hedo Turkoglu
Tough Call: With Nelson out, Anthony Johnson is the team's only real point guard left. He should see a significant boost, but don't expect 25 points like he had on Feb 4 on a regular basis. View him as a low-end stopgap for now, and he should certainly be avoided in cumulative formats with just one matchup in Week 16. The same goes for Mickael Pietrus. Avoid Courtney Lee and J.J. Redick in all leagues.
One Week Bust: Anthony Johnson, Mickael Pietrus

Philadelphia 76ers
Schedule: PHO, MEM
Injury Report: Elton Brand (knee/out for the season).
Slam Dunk: Andre Iguodala, Andre Miller
Tough Call: With Brand out, Thaddeus Young should continue to thrive. View him as an excellent start as at least a No. 3 forward in any league. Samuel Dalembert makes a good play as a No. 2 center in larger leagues, but is an even better start in category-based leagues for help in rebounds and blocks. Marreese Speights is once again worth using as a low-end starter. Lou Williams can be used in a pinch as a No. 4 guard option.
One Week Boom: Thaddeus Young, Samuel Dalembert, Marreese Speights

Phoenix Suns
Schedule: @PHI, @CLE
Injury Report: None.
Slam Dunk: Amar'e Stoudemire, Steve Nash, Shaquille O'Neal, Jason Richardson
Tough Call: Grant Hill is on a roll and is a solid play in larger leagues as a low-end starter this week. Use Leandro Barbosa in the same role. Avoid using Matt Barnes for now.
One Week Boom: Grant Hill

Worst Fantasy schedules
Team Schedule
1. Nets SA
2. Celtics @NO, @DAL
3. Wizards @ATL, @CHA
4. Suns @PHI, @CLE
5. Nuggets @MIA, @ORL

Portland Trail Blazers
Schedule: OKC, @GS
Injury Report: Steve Blake (shoulder/day-to-day); Blake's injury has been very slow to heal and it is very likely he will be kept out through the break. Sit him in all leagues.
Slam Dunk: Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge
Tough Call: Greg Oden's up-and-down season currently has him going through another rut. Avoid using him where possible. Travis Outlaw, on the other hand, is on a roll in his last few games. Start him as a No. 3 or 4 option for Week 16 considering the team's very favorable matchups. Rudy Feranandez should only be used in leagues of 12-plus teams as a stopgap guard option in a pinch. The same goes for Jerryd Bayless, who will be playing a bigger role with Blake sidelined.
One Week Boom: Travis Outlaw

Sacramento Kings
Schedule: @DAL, @HOU
Injury Report: Brad Miller (out until mid-Ferbuary); Miller will be re-evaluated after the break. Sit him in all leagues for Week 16.
Slam Dunk: Kevin Martin, John Salmons
Tough Call: With Miller out, Spencer Hawes becomes a very useful stopgap measure as a No. 2 center. Jason Thompson can be used as a No. 3 forward option. The Kings face a pair of tough defensive matchups against teams that allow under 100 points, though, and using Francisco Garcia or Beno Udrih is not advised.
One Week Bust: Francisco Garcia, Beno Udrih

San Antonio Spurs
Schedule: @NJ, @TOR
Injury Report: Manu Ginobili (hip/day-to-day); Ginobili was expected to return for Sunday's game in Boston and should be a safe play for the upcoming scoring period.
Slam Dunk: Tim Duncan, Tony Parker
Tough Call: Roger Mason Jr. has stepped up his production with Ginobili out, but that production should drop sharply once Ginobili returns. Avoid using Mason as anything more than a last-minute replacement option. Matt Bonner remains a decent stopgap measure in leagues of 12-plus teams that use two centers. Avoid using Michael Finley.
One Week Boom: Matt Bonner

Toronto Raptors
Schedule: @MIN, SA
Injury Report: Chris Bosh (knee/day-to-day); The Raptors may choose to keep Bosh out through the All-Star break, but Fantasy owners should keep tabs on his progress through lineup deadlines. Just make plans to go without him for now.
Slam Dunk: Jose Calderon
Tough Call: Jermaine O'Neal is coming off a clunker, but had scored 20-plus points in three straight games. With Bosh possibly out this week, O'Neal becomes a very solid play. Andrea Bargnani should also enjoy a boost in production. Use him in any league this week as well. Anthony Parker can be used as a stopgap measure in leagues of 12-plus teams. Avoid using Jamario Moon for now.
One Week Boom: Andrea Bargnani, Jermaine O'Neal

Utah Jazz
Schedule: LAL
Injury Report: Andrei Kirilenko (ankle/out until mid-February); Carlos Boozer (knee/out until mid-February); C.J. Miles (illness/day-to-day); AK-47 and Boozer will not be back until after the break. Miles stands to see a boost with Kirilenko out, but he is a risky play in Week 16.
Slam Dunk: Mehmet Okur, Deron Williams, Paul Millsap
Tough Call: With Kirilenko out and Miles banged up, Brewer will be looked upon to do more than just score. This is a solid week to use him as a stopgap if needed. Kyle Korver also has some low-end appeal if a replacement option is needed.
One Week Boom: Ronnie Brewer

Washington Wizards
Schedule: @ATL, @CHA
Injury Report: Gilbert Arenas (knee/out indefinitely); Caron Butler (flu/day-to-day); Andray Blatche (knee/out until March); DeShawn Stevenson (back/out until mid-February); There is still no word on a return date for Arenas, but it certainly will not be this week. Butler simply has the flu and should be a safe play in Week 16. Blatche and Stevenson will not be available in Week 16.
Slam Dunk: Antawn Jamison
Tough Call: Nick Young is seeing an increase in productivity with all the injuries and makes a decent stopgap play in deeper formats if needed. JaVale McGee has really stepped up his production with Blatche out and has scored in double figures in four straight games. He can be used as a No. 2 center in leagues of 12-plus teams for Week 16. Javaris Crittenton has stepped into the starting lineup alongside Mike James and both can be used in larger Head-to-Head leagues for Week 16. Avoid using Dominic McGuire despite his tentative role in the starting lineup.
One Week Boom: Nick Young, JaVale McGee

Player News
Derrick Rose
Rose to visit back specialist
Derrick Rose, PG, CHI
2/12/2012
News: Chicago PG Derrick Rose (back) had to miss Sunday's game at Boston, reports the Chicago Tribune. Rose gave an ominous sign on Saturday saying he was unsure if he would be able to play Sunday. He was correct as he had to miss a second straight game. Rose's back continues to be stiff and sore for the superstar and he will visit a back specialist on Monday. Rose could miss a few more games before his return. "You're always concerned," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. "It's something he has had before. He had it when he was in high school. We're hopeful it will get cleared up quickly but we're not sure."
Analysis: Rose has now missed seven games this season due to toe and back injuries. He was thought to have entered the season in the best shape of his career, but has continued to come up with nagging bumps and bruises. "This is the most I've ever been injured," he said. "It's frustrating knowing I worked so hard. I hate missing games, especially when we're playing against great teams. I hate missing any game." The good news is that Rose truly does hate missing games. Owners can feel good knowing that he'll be out there if he can play at all. That said, he could miss some more time going forward, so owners might consider sitting him for the upcoming scoring period. Rose remains a must-start Fantasy option, when healthy.

Rajon Rondo
Rondo has monster triple-double
Rajon Rondo, PG, BOS
2/12/2012
News: Boston PG Rajon Rondo had a monster performance on Sunday afternoon to help beat the Chicago Bulls. Rondo did his damage as Derrick Rose missed the game for Chicago, but the results were still incredible as he scored 32 points, dished out 15 assists and grabbed 10 rebounds for a triple-double. Rondo went 11 of 22 from the field and 10 of 13 from the line in the win. He added two steals and had five turnovers for the Celtics in the win. It was just the 10th time since 1986 that an NBA player recorded at least 30 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds.
Analysis: Rondo had another silly performance on Sunday. When he wants to score, he can score with anyone and could be a 20-plus point-per-game scorer. As it stands, Rondo is averaging around 13 points per game on the year. Still, that comes with around 10 assists per game with a couple steals. He's not having his all-around awesome usual season, but Rondo remains a must-start Fantasy PG for use at all times for games just like the one he put up on Sunday.

Brandon Bass
Bass to miss two weeks due to knee
Brandon Bass, PF, BOS
2/12/2012
News: Boston PF Brandon Bass will miss two weeks of action due to his sore knee, reports the Boston Globe on Sunday. Bass missed Sunday's game against the Bulls. Bass played 30 minutes on Friday at Toronto and scored 10 points with seven rebounds.
Analysis: Bass was trying to play through his knee injury and apparently that caused a setback that will keep him out for at least two weeks now. That will see Bass out until at least the end of February. Bass was averaging 11.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game over 29 minutes for the Celtics on the year. When healthy, he has plenty of value in deeper Fantasy formats.

Monta Ellis
Ellis still racking up the points
Monta Ellis, PG, GS
12:00 AM
News: Warriors G Monta Ellis scored 30-plus points for the third time in his last five games on Sunday against the Rockets. He finished with 33 points and seven assists in the 106-97 win. He went 13 for 23 from the floor, including 1 for 3 from downtown, and made 6 of 9 free throws. Ellis also chipped in with five rebounds, two steals and a block while playing 41 minutes.
Analysis: Ellis has been carrying the Warriors on his back for the last week or so and is two games removed from scoring a career-high 48 points. He is averaging 29.2 points with 4.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.6 steals in his last five contests, and is shooting nearly 55 percent over that span. The 26-year-old has the ability to go off like few others in the NBA and he appears to be catching fire just in time for Week 8 (Feb. 13-19). Ellis will face off against the Suns, Trail Blazers, Thunder and Grizzlies during the upcoming scoring period so be sure to keep him active in all Fantasy formats.

Luis Scola
Scola picking up the pace
Luis Scola, PF, HOU
2/12/2012
News: Rockets F Luis Scola was able to remain hot in Sunday's game against the Warriors. He scored 14 points and hauled in a season-high 13 rebounds in the 106-97 loss. He went 3 for 6 from the floor and made all eight of his free throws while playing 32 minutes. Scola also chipped in with three assists in the defeat. He is averaging 18.2 points with 7.4 rebounds and two assists in his last five contests.
Analysis: Scola recorded his first double-double since Jan. 14 on Sunday and has really picked up the pace in his scoring and rebounding of late. He is shooting 53 percent in his last five games and has scored in double figures in six straight. He plays extremely well for an undersized power forward and continues to get his numbers on a nightly basis. With the Grizzlies, Thunder, Timberwolves and Jazz on the schedule for Week 8 (Feb. 13-19), keep Scola active in the majority of Fantasy leagues.

Jonny Flynn
Flynn dealing with back injury
Jonny Flynn, PG, HOU
12:44 AM
News: Rockets G Jonny Flynn sat out Sunday's game against the Warriors with a lower back injury. He has played in just seven games so far this season.
Analysis: Flynn has not been able to see much time on the court this season and this injury does not bode well for that changing anytime soon. Teams have contacted the Rockets about the 23-year-old but there does not appear to be a deal imminent. Until he receives a larger role, continue to ignore Flynn in all Fantasy formats.

Enes Kanter
Kanter hitting the boards
Enes Kanter, C, UTA
12:42 AM
News: Jazz C Enes Kanter continues to rebound well in limited minutes in his rookie season, as he had five boards in just 11 minutes of playing time on Sunday against the Grizzlies. He also added four points on 2 of 5 shooting and had a steal as the Jazz won 98-88 over Memphis.
Analysis: Kanter has been a rebounding machine in his rookie season, grabbing almost 20 percent of his team’s available boards when he’s on the floor. However, he is averaging just 14.5 minutes per game on the season, as the Jazz are deep in the front court and bringing their first-round pick along slowly. If he could get full-time minutes, Kanter would be an excellent Fantasy option at the center position, however as long as the Jazz limit his minutes, he should be looked at as more of a long-term keeper with minimal value for this season.

David Lee
Lee adds another double-double
David Lee, C, GS

News: Warriors F David Lee posted his third double-double of February on Sunday against the Rockets. He scored 15 points and hauled in 13 rebounds in the 106-97 win. He went 7 for 12 from the floor and made his lone attempt from the charity stripe while playing 43 minutes. Lee also chipped in with six assists and a block in the victory.
Analysis: Lee, who posted a triple-double two games ago, is having another solid campaign for the Warriors and is putting up a double-double for the year. He is averaging 17 points with 10.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists in his last five contests, and is shooting 46 percent over that span. He has become adept at filling up the stat sheet on a nightly basis and should be able to keep things going heading into Week 8 (Feb. 13-19). With Phoenix, Portland, Oklahoma City and Memphis due up, keep Lee active in all Fantasy formats.
