Lakers' Nick Young does not play due to lack of practice

(5:12 pm ET) Lakers guard Nick Young did not play on Sunday due to not taking part in practices recently, the team announced.

The move wasn't a huge surprise, as coach Byron Scott told reporters that was the plan coming into the contest. Still, Young was disappointed at the result. "Very disappointed I didn’t get out there. But that’s the year has been," Young told the Daily News. Young has been battling an ankle injury, but said he believes his ankle is fine now. Young has missed three straight games due to the issue. 

Young is averaging 14.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. 


Suns recall Reggie Bullock, Archie Goodwin from NBADL

(5:07 pm ET) The Suns announced guards Reggie Bullock and Archie Goodwin have been recalled from the NBA Development League on Sunday.

Bullock is averaging 2.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in 26 games, while Goodwin has played in 13 games and is averaging 3.6 points and 1.3 rebounds.


Lakers' Jordan Hill believes he sustained a hip flexor Sunday

(5:03 pm ET) Lakers forward Jordan Hill said he was unable to finish Sunday's loss to the Knicks because of a hip flexor, reports the Los Angeles Daily News.

Hill played just seven minutes and scored two points before leaving with the injury. Hill believes he should be OK, but was unsure if or how long he'll be out.


Knicks' Carmelo Anthony scores 31 to help defeat Lakers

(4:33 pm ET) Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony scored a game-high 31 points to help the Knicks defeat the Lakers on Sunday.

Anthony shot 13 of 25 from the field, including 2 of 4 from 3-point range. He also added eight rebounds, two assists and one steal. Anthony has scored 30 or more points in two of the last three games.

"We came out here ready to play," Anthony said, per the team.


Celtics' Avery Bradley plans to play through thumb injury

(4:27 pm ET) Despite spraining the thumb on his left hand during Sunday's loss to the Heat, Celtics guard Avery Bradley said after the game he plans to play through the injury, reports the Boston Herald.

"It's not my shooting hand," Bradley said.

Despite the injury, Bradley played 33 minutes and scored 17 points on 8 of 15 shooting in the loss. In 44 games, Bradley is averaging 13.0 points and 2.6 rebounds. The Celtics next play Tuesday at New York.


Nets' Kevin Garnett not thinking of potential buyout

(4:17 pm ET) With speculation growing about the Nets possibly buying out Kevin Garnett's contract, Garnett told reporters he's more concerned with how the Nets are playing, reports the New York Daily News.

"I haven't thought too much of my own personal [stuff]," Garnett said. "When that road comes, I'll cross it and I'll deal with it," he said. "A lot of things with family, situation and things, it's not just convenient to get up and move, to change things. It's not as convenient as it once was when I was younger. I have a lot more responsibilities and things to take into account."

The Nets are 18-28, but Garnett said he's committed to helping the Nets make the playoffs.

"I don't know what management is going to do," he said. "When my situation comes up, I'll obviously give it some attention. Other than that, my attention is trying to get us on a winning streak, get us on a road where everybody's playing together."


Heat's Luol Deng expects to play Tuesday

(4:09 pm ET) While Heat forward Luol Deng is close to returning from a calf injury, he was held out of Sunday's win over the Celtics.

After the game, Deng said he felt good enough to play and is expecting to play in Tuesday's game at Detroit, reports The Palm Beach Post.

Deng has missed the last three games while dealing with a calf injury. In 41 games, he is averaging 14.3 points and 5.0 rebounds.


Celtics expected to sign Andre Dawkins to second 10-day contract

(4:03 pm ET) After Sunday's loss to the Heat, Celtics coach Brad Stevens said there's a good chance the team will sign guard Andre Dawkins to a second 10-day contract, reports MassLive.com.

In four games, Dawkins is averaging 0.8 points and 0.5 rebounds.


Heat's Hassan Whiteside scores 20 in win over the Celtics

(3:57 pm ET) Heat center Hassan Whiteside displayed some nifty offensive moves to help lead the Heat to a 83-75 victory over the Celtics on Sunday.

Whiteside scored 20 points on 10 of 17 shooting from the field, which was a game high. He also added nine rebounds and three blocks. Whiteside briefly left the game in the third after cutting his lip on an elbow from Celtics center Tyler Zeller, but he was able to finish the game.

"I love to see the young guys respond," coach Erik Spoelsta said, per the team. "They were fearless today."


Celtics' Tayshaun Prince held out of Sunday's game with hip injury

(3:47 pm ET) Celtics forward Tayshaun Prince was unable to play in Sunday's game against the Heat after suffering a hip flexor injury just before the game, coach Brad Stevens said postgame.

Prince sustained the injury during a workout before the game and notified Stevens before tipoff he was a no-go. It is unknown if Prince will be able to play in Boston's next game Tuesday against the Knicks.
