Celtics head coach Brad Stevens indicated that Jeff Green and Gerald Wallace could earn some minutes at power forward to start the season, according to the MetroWest Daily News on Tuesday. The move would likely cut into the playing time of Jared Sullinger and Brandon Bass.

Green appeared in all 82 games last season for the Celtics, averaging 16.9 points, 4.6 boards and 1.7 assists per outing. Wallace was limited to 58 games in 2013-14 and averaged only 5.1 points in 24.4 minutes per game.

Injuries
Hand - Doubtful for start of season (Updated - 9/26/14)
News
With Rajon Rondo undergoing surgery on his hand, Fantasy owners have to drop the Celtics star on their draft boards. The question is, how far?

Rondo told reporters Monday at media day he hopes to miss just six weeks, but acknowledged that he has been given a 10-week diagnosis that likely serves as a worst-case scenario for his recovery. That represents the difference between missing around five games or up to 20 on the longer end.

At this point, Rondo is going 14th in CBSSports.com leagues on average, but that number is going to plummet in the coming weeks. He was already something of an injury risk in his first full year back from ACL surgery, and now he has to deal with this -- remember, Kevin Love basically lost his 2012-13 season with a broken hand that he tried to rush back from.

Rondo will still be a near-elite Fantasy option and a double-double machine when he plays, we're just not sure when that will be. Given the uncertainty, Rondo has to be knocked out of the top-10 for guards on Draft Day.

News
Celtics power forward Jared Sullinger said he has improved his conditioning since last season, according to MassLive.com.

"Best I ever felt, and hopefully that carries on throughout the season," Sullinger said. "Everybody says they want to be somewhere, but it’s always a couple weeks late. I have the whole preseason and training camp to get to where I need to in order to play the extended minutes I plan for myself to get. I just gotta keep working."

Coach Brad Stevens agreed Sullinger appears to be in better shape, but added he still can improve his conditioning.

"I think he’s in better shape than he was when he got here, certainly, at the start of last year, and really through most of the year. But it’s still about getting in better shape," Stevens said.

News
With Rajon Rondo sidelined, Celtics head coach Brad Stevens told MassLive.com that Marcus Smart "physically, emotionally and mentally ready" to play point guard. However, neither Stevens nor president of basketball operations Danny Ainge are committed to naming a starter for opening night.

"Obviously, (Stevens) won't throw the whole playbook at Marcus," Ainge said. "He'll keep it as simple as a rookie needs to keep it simple. Rondo's well-advanced and experienced; it would be like Peyton Manning vs. a rookie quarterback. You just can't do it. You can't throw the same expectations at him."
