News
According to reports, the Heat are on the verge of signing veteran point guard J.J. Barea to a backup role and are exploring the possibility of acquiring power forward Carlos Boozer, per the Palm Beach Post

The Heat are crowded at guard, which may make Mario Chalmers the odd-man out given his $4.3 million salary. Barea averaged 7.5 points and 3.7 assists for the Mavericks last season.

Boozer could be viewed as a replacement for Chris Andersen. Boozer is not a strong defender, but did average 17.8 points last season for the Lakers.

News
As expected, the Lakers will not pick up the player option on power forward Jordan Hill, making him a free agent, per the Sporting News

Hill was scheduled to make $9 million this season, which would have been a major deterrant as the Lakers try to clear cap space to sign a marquee free agent.

Hill, 28, averaged 12 points and 7.9 rebounds in 57 games this season.

News
Second overall draft pick D'Angelo Russell is confident that he can blend with Jordan Clarkson in the Lakers' backcourt.

Russell said he "can definitely play with" Clarkson, the team announced on its Twitter account. Russell said that having two ballhandlers "gives us the advantage".
