Pelicans coach Monty Williams said Thursday that newly-acquired point guard Norris Cole has been a bright spot for the team, which has won all three games since Cole came on board, NBA.com reports.

"Norris has been a bright spot for us because he brings some intangibles to the table," Williams said after practice Thursday. "He's played in really big games. Nothing fazes him. We're glad to have him."

The Pelicans valued Cole due to his reputation as a defender but have been surprised by his offensive capacity as well.

"I've always been able to play offense," Cole said. "It's just that with certain dynamics with teams, you're asked to play a certain way and I'm a team player, but I work on my (offense) a lot. I can put the ball in the hole."

Cole has averaged 12.7 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds in his three games with the Pelicans while shooting 55.6 percent from the field.

News
Despite suffering from an illness, Pelicans guard Tyreke Evans was able to play 34 minutes in Monday's win over the Raptors. Evans is still dealing with the illness, but he will play in Wednesday's game against the Nets, reports NBA.com.

"I'm not 100 percent yet, but I'm getting there," Evans said. "I feel better today. Hopefully I can help us out more and have my energy back. We'll see how it goes. I couldn't breathe [at times during Monday's game] and was having chest pains. They gave me some medicine and I definitely felt better this morning, [but] I haven't really run up and down to see how it feels yet."

The Pelicans are 2 1/2-point underdogs.

News
Pelicans shooting guard Quincy Pondexter scored a career-high 25 points on 9 of 13 shooting, including 4 of 8 shooting from behind the arc, in his team's 102-96 win over the Nets Wednesday.

Pondexter had scored at least 20 points just once in his five-year career before Wednesday, managing 22 points in a game early last season. He played a season-high 40 minutes in the win while racking up five rebounds and two assists.

"Missing Ryan (Anderson), missing [Anthony Davis], missing Jrue (Holiday) - those are great young players," Pondexter said after the game, per the Associated Press. "We're in a playoff chase and I had to step up."

The Pelicans bring a three-game winning streak into Friday's battle with the Heat.
