| 5/20/2013 | Brandon Mitchell, QB, ARK |
Former Arkansas QB Mitchell Picks N.C. StateNews: Brandon Mitchell will enroll at North Carolina State, where he'll be immediately eligible, according to ESPN.com. Analysis: Brandon Mitchell immediately becomes a major sleeper to watch throughout August. At 6-foot-4, 239 pounds, he's the perfect fit for new head coach Dave Doeren's spread attack that has produced tremendously successful fantasy quarterbacks. He'll battle Colorado State transfer Pete Thomas for the right to start in Raleigh. |
| 5/16/2013 | Clifton Richardson, RB, UVA |
UVA RB Richardson Leaves ProgramNews: Clifton Richardson has decided to transfer, the school announced on Thursday. Analysis: Clifton Richardson was plagued by injury as a sophomore, but this is a blow to the Cavaliers' backfield. He represented the only big, power back the team had. Kevin Parks value gets a nice bump as he'll likely get as many carries as he can handle. At least until top recruit Taquan Mizzell gets up to speed. |
| 5/13/2013 | Nick Hirschman, QB, COLO |
Hirschman Heads to AkronNews: Nick Hirschman transferred from Colorado to Akron, ESPN.com reports. Analysis: A player going from a BCS team to a non-AQ squad would normally get the benefit of the doubt in a positional battle, but Nick Hirschman is probably no better than 50-50 to beat Kyle Pohl to the starting quarterback role at Akron. Hirschman has modest recruiting pedigree and failed at Colorado. |
| 5/13/2013 | Allan Bridgford, QB, CAL |
Bridgford Transfers to Southern MissNews: Allan Bridgford transferred from California to Southern Mississippi, the Mississippi Press reports. Analysis: Allan Bridgford should be eligible to play in 2013 for Southern Mississippi. After failing miserably at California, however, joining up with a sinking Southern Mississippi program doesn't give reason to have high hopes for Bridgford as a fantasy option. |
| 5/13/2013 | Austin Hill, WR, ARIZ |
Arizona's Hill Likely Out For 2013News: Austin Hill (ACL) likely won't play in 2013, ESPN.com reports. Analysis: Austin Hill is one of the nation's elite receivers, so his probable absence is a painful loss for Arizona. |
| 5/13/2013 | Jordan Webb, QB, COLO |
Colorado's Webb ArrestedNews: Jordan Webb was arrested on a charge of second-degree assault Saturday morning, the Denver Post reports. Analysis: The former Kansas transfer isn't exactly a treasured asset for Colorado after throwing eight touchdowns and eight interceptions last year while averaging just 5.4 yards per pass, but he still could be the team's best option at quarterback. It's not clear whether he'll face any discipline. Jordan Webb is also attempting to return from a torn ACL in the spring. |
| 5/13/2013 | Kevin Newsome, QB, TEMPLE |
Temple Moves Newsome to RBNews: Kevin Newsome will play running back in 2013, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Analysis: Temple is implementing a pro-style offense this year, which left running quarterbacks like Kevin Newsome and Chris Coyer out of place. Newsome will compete with the likes of Kenneth Harper and Jamie Gilmore for snaps, and he's little more than a player to monitor until that competition clears itself up. |
| 5/11/2013 | Wes Lunt, QB, OKLAST |
Lunt Leaving Oklahoma StateNews: Wes Lunt will transfer out of Oklahoma State, ESPN's Brett McMurphy reports. Analysis: Wes Lunt was named starter prior to last year as a freshman, but he was soundly outplayed by J.W. Walsh and Clint Chelf. Whoever wins the competition between the latter two should be a strong fantasy option in 2013. |
| 5/10/2013 | Max Shortell, QB, MINN |
Shortell Transfers to Jacksonville StateNews: Max Shortell has transferred to Jacksonville State in Alabama, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Analysis: Max Shortell will move to a FCS school and can play next season. |
| 5/5/2013 | Nick Harwell, WR, MIAOH |
Harwell May Be Done At Miami (OH)News: Nick Harwell received an indefinite suspension for a March arrest and, according to the Hamilton Journal-News, it's unlikely Harwell will play in 2013. Analysis: Nick Harwell is one of the nation's most productive players at any position and would be in contention for the nation's top fantasy receiver distinction, so his potential departure is a big deal. Despite the Journal-News' statement on Harwell's return, his situation technically remains up in the air. |
| 5/3/2013 | Kain Colter, QB, NWEST |
Northwestern's Colter In Continued Two-QB SystemNews: Northwestern is expected to use a two-quarterback system again in 2013 with Kain Colter and Trevor Siemian, ESPN reports. Analysis: This isn't a big surprise since both quarterbacks are returning. Kain Colter still thrived in last year's two-QB system as he had 872 yards passing with eight touchdowns and added 894 yards rushing with 12 touchdowns and also had 169 yards receiving. His rushing ability, especially in the red zone, will make him a fantasy factor regardless of how much he plays. However, his upside may be limited in the two-QB system. |
| 5/1/2013 | Clint Trickett, QB, FSU |
Trickett Transfers To West VirginiaNews: Clint Trickett will transfer to West Virginia, ESPN reports. Analysis: Clint Trickett left Florida State after it appeared he'd lost a chance at the starting job to Jameis Winston. Trickett is eligible to play right away as a graduate student. He'll compete with Ford Childress and Paul Millard for the starting quarterback job this summer. |
| 5/1/2013 | Jeremy Hill, RB, LSU |
LSUs Hill Suspended IndefinitelyNews: Jeremy Hill was suspended indefinitely from the LSU football program on Monday after battery charges he incurred Saturday morning outside of a Baton Rouge bar, The Times-Picayune reports. Analysis: This is Jeremy Hill's second arrest and suspension while being a member of the LSU football program. It remains to be seen if Hill, who is the team's leading rusher with 755 yards and 12 touchdowns last season, will get another shot with the program. |
| 4/24/2013 | Tanner McEvoy, QB, SC |
Wisconsin's McEvoy Competing For Starting QBNews: Tanner McEvoy will compete against Curt Phillips and Joel Stave for starting quarterback, the Madison State Journal reports. Analysis: Tanner McEvoy will join the team in August, where he will be a strong competitor for the starting quarterback position. It's not a position that he will have handed to him, though. He will have to beat out both Stave and Phillips, but he has a good chance to do so. Don't be surprised if he is named the starter when the 2013-14 season begins. |
| 4/24/2013 | Curt Phillips, QB, WISC |
Wisconsin's Phillips Competing For Starting QBNews: Curt Phillips will compete against Joel Stave and Tanner McEvoy for starting quarterback, the Madison State Journal reports. Analysis: Curt Phillips saw first-string reps in last Saturday's spring game. He completed 8 of 13 passes for 82 yards. Stave is currently the fan favorite for the starting position, but don't quite rule out Phillips or McEvoy. |
| 4/24/2013 | Joel Stave, QB, WISC |
Wisconsin's Stave Competing For Starting QBNews: Joel Stave will compete against Curt Phillips and Tanner McEvoy for starting quarterback, the Madison State Journal reports. Analysis: In last Saturday's spring game, Joel Stave completed 15 of 20 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown. It appears that he is the fan favorite, but he is far from having the position secured. Don't be surprised if either Phillips or McEvoy are named the starter for next season. |
| 4/24/2013 | Brandon Allen, QB, ARK |
Arkansas' Allen Tabbed As StarterNews: Brandon Allen has been tabbed as the starting quarterback in Arkansas' post-spring depth chart, Edward Aschoff of ESPN.com reports. Analysis: Brandon Allen has done well in limiting turnovers and playing his role as a pure passer this spring. New coach Bret Bielema has expressed confidence in Allen and is comfortable with him as his starting QB. He threw one touchdown and three interceptions in relief of former starting quarterback Tyler Wilson last season. |
| 4/23/2013 | Austyn Carta-Samuels, QB, VANDY |
Vandy's Carta-Samuels Plays Well In Spring GameNews: Austyn Carta-Samuels impressed in Vanderbilt's spring game, Edward Aschoff of ESPN.com reports. Analysis: Austyn Carta-Samuels started two seasons at Wyoming before backing up former starting quarterback Jordan Rodgers last year. His experience and well-documented leadership will play a large role in determining the starting quarterback at Vanderbilt for 2013. |
| 4/23/2013 | Justin Worley, QB, TENN |
Vols' Worley Has Consistent Spring PracticesNews: Justin Worley had a consistent spring session, Edward Aschoff of ESPN.com reports. Analysis: Justin Worley is in a competition with Nathan Peterman for the leading role at Tennessee. Of the two, Worley is the only one with playing experience in college and has been atop the depth chart all spring. Tennessee coach Butch Jones will wait until at least summer, possibly even fall, to name his starting quarterback. |
| 4/23/2013 | James Franklin, QB, MIZZOU |
Mizzou's Franklin Competing For Starting RoleNews: Despite having two years of experience at starting quarterback, James Franklin is still competing to win the starting job at Missouri, Edward Aschoff of ESPN.com reports. Analysis: James Franklin endured several injuries and suffered through a ten-loss season last year with heavily inconsistent play at quarterback. After a less than stellar season, Missouri has decided to open the quarterback position to a competition. No one separated from the pack this spring and it looks as if the duel will go on into the fall. |
| 4/23/2013 | Jalen Whitlow, QB, UK |
Kentucky's Whitlow Has Excellent Spring GameNews: Jalen Whitlow had an excellent spring game for Kentucky, Edward Aschoff of ESPN.com reports. Analysis: Jalen Whitlow threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns in the Blue-White game. After a season where he recorded a 54% completion rate and only three touchdowns in ten games he was not likely to be the starter, but is now a serious contender for 2013. Whitlow's athleticism is definitely an advantage he has over the other quarterbacks on Kentucky's roster. |
| 4/23/2013 | Kiehl Frazier, QB, AUBURN |
Auburn's Frazier In Competiton For Starting RoleNews: Kiehl Frazier has performed well in spring practice but has not secured the starting role, Edward Aschoff of ESPN.com reports. Analysis: Kiehl Frazier is an ideal fit for the spread offense that coach Gus Malzahn runs despite only throwing for two touchdowns and eight interceptions last season. Frazier is in a competition with Jonathan Wallace who was the starter at the end of the season last year. Both quarterbacks have been impressive this spring but neither has outperformed the other. The contest for the starting quarterback position will continue into the fall for Auburn. |
| 4/21/2013 | Michael Holmes, RB, VATECH |
Virginia Tech's Holmes ArrestedNews: Michael Holmes was arrested on two counts of simple assault and one count of malicious wounding for his role in a fight near the Virginia Tech campus, the Washington Post reports. Analysis: Malicious wounding is a class 3 felony, so he risks getting automatically kicked off the football team if convicted. He was set to compete for the starting running back job before this incident. |
| 4/20/2013 | Joe Licata, QB, BUFF |
Buffalo's Licata Wins Starting JobNews: Joe Licata, who will be a sophomore this coming season, has won the starting quarterback job for Buffalo, The Buffalo News reports. Analysis: After finishing the season with a 3-1 record when no one else did much of anything, Joe Licata will have really had to lose the job in spring practices, but as hoped he performed just fine. He'll try to build on his freshman campaign when he completed 86 of 163 passes for 1,045 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions. |
| 4/19/2013 | Orville Reynolds, RB, WAKE |
Wake RB Reynolds Now a FlankerNews: Orville Reynolds has spent the spring learning the role of a wide receiver, notes the Winston-Salem Journal. Analysis: With leading receiver Michael Campanaro missing spring due to ankle surgery, Orville Reynolds has turned some heads. Wake needs to replace their second leading receiver from a year ago (Terence Davis,) and Reynolds looks like he's got a shot to slide into Davis' role. |
| 4/19/2013 | Rolandan Finch, RB, BC |
BC RB Finch Leaves TeamNews: Citing personal reasons, Rolandan Finch has left the Eagles', according to BC Interruption. Analysis: Rolandan Finch spent most of 2012 in former coach Frank Spaziani's doghouse, but remained the Eagles' best bet. No word on whether or not Finch plans to continue his career elsewhere. Andre Williams is in line for a major role in this offense as a result. |
| 4/16/2013 | Sam Cooper, TE, CLEM |
Clemson TE Cooper Tears ACLNews: Sam Cooper tore his ACL during Saturday's spring game, and will be out an undisclosed amount of time, the school announced on Monday. Analysis: It's a tough blow for Sam Cooper, who's injury wasn't expected to be serious. "This was certainly going to be (Cooper's) time at tight end. We have had quite a run of production at tight end the last few years," offered head coach Dabo Swinney. Over the past four seasons, Tiger tight ends have averaged 55 catches, 619 yards and eight touchdowns. Freshman Jordan Leggett's outlook just got even brighter for 2013. |
| 4/15/2013 | Drew Allen, QB, OKLA |
Former Sooner QB Allen Heading to SyracuseNews: Drew Allen will transfer from Oklahoma to Syracuse, and be eligible to play in 2013, according to CBSSports.com. Analysis: Drew Allen will join Charley Loeb, Terrel Hunt and John Kinder in an August competition to start. Loeb was the presumed favorite prior to Allen's decision, but Allen can likely be considered the best bet to open the year under center. |
| 4/15/2013 | Chad Voytik, QB, PITT |
Pitt QB Voytik Shines in Spring GameNews: Chad Voytik hit on 27-of-33 passes for 358 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's spring game. Analysis: Competing with Tom Savage for the starting job, Chad Voytik was intentionally given the bulk of the snaps in this scrimmage. Savage is still considered the favorite, but it's easy to forget Voytik's recruiting pedigree. This competition will linger into August. |
| 4/15/2013 | Manasseh Garner, TE, PITT |
Pitt TE Garner Caps Solid SpringNews: Manasseh Garner caught a team-high 10 passes for 100 yards in Saturday's spring game. Analysis: The Wisconsin transfer was a favorite target for both Tom Savage and Chad Voytik. Regardless of who wins the starting quarterback role, Manasseh Garner has a chance to be a solid safety valve for the new signal caller, and should have some value in ACC leagues. |
| 4/15/2013 | Desmond Brown, RB, PITT |
Pitt RB Brown Not Going Down Without a FightNews: Desmond Brown ran 18 times for 90 yards in Saturday's spring game. Analysis: With Russel Shell's decision to transfer, Pitt is looking for it's 2013 starter. Though Isaac Bennett is your clubhouse leader, Desmond Brown is at least worth monitoring into August. |
| 4/15/2013 | Isaac Bennett, RB, PITT |
Pitt RB Bennett Looks Ready to ShineNews: Isaac Bennett ran 20 times for 114 yards and a touchdown to lead Panthers running backs in Saturday's spring game. Analysis: Malcolm Crockett managed 45 yards on 11 carries, while Desmond Brown had 90 yards on 18 totes. Isaac Bennett is the best bet to lead this backfield, at least early in 2013, and it's a unit that consistently produces useful rushers. |
| 4/15/2013 | Tajh Boyd, QB, CLEM |
Clemson QB Boyd Rests During Spring GameNews: Tajh Boyd didn't play in Saturday's spring game in order to allow backups Cole Stoudt and Chad Kelly more playing time, notes The State. Analysis: Dynasty owners of Tajh Boyd can rest easy when they didn't see his name in the box score, as there's no injury here. Boyd remains one of the top options nationally heading in to 2013. |
| 4/15/2013 | Martavis Bryant, WR, CLEM |
Clemson WR Bryant Shows PotentialNews: Martavis Bryant hauled in seven passes for 110 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's spring game. Analysis: Back from suspension, and working hard to secure a starting job, Martavis Bryant is a top breakout candidate for 2013. |
| 4/15/2013 | Sammy Watkins, WR, CLEM |
Clemson WR Watkins Ready To Bounce BackNews: Sammy Watkins capped a terrific spring with a seven catch, 156 yard, two touchdown performance in Saturday's spring game. Analysis: Sammy Watkins has moved over to the departed DeAndre Hopkins slot in the Tigers' offense, and looks poised for a tremendous bounce back junior season. |
| 4/15/2013 | Cole Stoudt, QB, CLEM |
Clemson QB Stoudt Ready to Back Up BoydNews: Cole Stoudt completed 16-of-24 passes for 304 yards and four touchdowns in Saturday's spring game. Analysis: Thanks to this performance, and a knee injury to Chad Kelly, Cole Stoudt should have the backup job wrapped up for 2013. Should anything happen to Tajh Boyd, Stoudt's value would be tremendous. |
| 4/15/2013 | Chad Kelly, QB, CLEM |
Clemson QB Kelly Tears ACLNews: Chad Kelly tore the ACL in his knee during Saturday's spring game, and will miss most, if not all of the 2013 season, according to The State. Analysis: Chad Kelly was injured while trying to extend a play with his legs. He was competing with Cole Stoudt to backup Tajh Boyd. Though the injury is unlikely to effect his long term potential, Kelly is also not likely to see game action for the second consecutive season. |
| 4/15/2013 | Romar Morris, RB, UNC |
UNC RB Morris Ready for SeasonNews: Romar Morris ran 15 times for 80 yards and a touchdown, while adding 25 yards receiving in Saturday's spring game. Analysis: Romar Morris appears to be more of the explosive threat than the bruising A.J. Blue, making him a nice option to replace Gio Bernard in the Heels' backfield. The completion remains open heading in to August, and both Blue and Morris are already looking over their shoulders after an impressive spring by early enrollee Khris Francis. |
| 4/15/2013 | Sean Tapley, WR, UNC |
UNC WR Tapley Explosive in SpringNews: Sean Tapley caught three passes for 108 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's spring game. Analysis: With Erik Highsmith and Jheranie Boyd gone, Sean Tapley has a shot to be useful in 2013. He'll likely start opposite Quinshad Davis in a spread attack, and can make big plays happen. |
| 4/15/2013 | Malcolm Lewis, WR, MIAMI |
Miami WR Lewis Set to Return in AugustNews: Malcolm Lewis (ankle) caught a scripted, undefended 75-yard touchdown pass in Miami's spring game on Saturday, and should be fully healthy come training camp time in August, notes the Miami Herald. Analysis: Malcolm Lewis' recovery from a horrific broken ankle is ahead of schedule, and the team punctuated his return with an unguarded pass. Miami has plenty of depth at receiver, but Lewis' return so quickly is terrific news for his long term value. |
| 4/15/2013 | Duke Johnson, RB, MIAMI |
Miami RB Johnson Ready to Carry LoadNews: Duke Johnson ran 10 times for 120 yards in Saturday's spring game. Analysis: Duke Johnson is being counted on to carry the ball 18-20 times this fall, and will likely catch a few passes to boot. It's highly unlikely he's in for a sophomore slump. |
| 4/15/2013 | Stephen Morris, QB, MIAMI |
Miami QB Morris in Mid-Season FormNews: Stephen Morris completed 13-of-23 passes for 256 yards and four touchdowns in Miami's spring game on Saturday. | 4/15/2013 | Rashawn Scott, WR, MIAMI |
Miami WR Scott Off Suspension, Shines in SpringNews: Rashawn Scott capped a solid spring with five catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns in the 'Canes spring game on Saturday. | 4/15/2013 | Dallas Crawford, RB, MIAMI |
Miami RB Crawford Earns Backup RoleNews: Dallas Crawford ran nine times for 19 yards, and caught three passes for 33 yards in the 'Canes spring game on Saturday, and will open fall as the primary backup to Duke Johnson, notes the Miami Herald. Analysis: Dallas Crawford is a versatile threat who the coaches love, ensuring he'll get some touches come September. He even through a few passes in 2012, and Johnson is unlikely to carry more than 20 times per game, giving Crawford a shot at carrying some value this fall. |
| 4/12/2013 | Braylon Heard, RB, NEB |
Nebraska's Heard Headed to KentuckyNews: Braylon Heard will transfer to Kentucky, ESPN's Joe Schad reports. Analysis: Braylon Heard was buried on Nebraska's depth chart, but the undersized runner was productive in 2012, running for 348 yards and three scores on 52 carries. Whether he finds success in Kentucky probably depends on whether Kentucky continues to fail miserably as a program. |
| 4/11/2013 | Thomas Sirk, QB, DUKE |
Duke QB Sirk Ruptures Achilles, Will Miss 2013News: Thomas Sirk tore his right Achilles tendon during Wednesday's practice, and will likely miss the entire 2013 campaign, according to the Raleigh News & Observer. Analysis: Thomas Sirk redshirted in 2012, and was the likey backup behind starter Anthony Boone. Though Sirk still has plenty of potential, this is a big blow to his development, and also leaves Duke very thin under center. |
| 4/11/2013 | Gunner Kiel, QB, ND |
Kiel Transferring to CincinnatiNews: Gunner Kiel plans to transfer to Cincinnati, ESPN reports. Analysis: With Everett Golson set as the starter at Notre Dame, Gunner Kiel decided to transfer. He'll compete with Munchie Legaux and Brendon Kay for the starting quarterback job this summer. |

Analysis: Rushel Shell had been excused from spring practice to think his decision through, and has decided to leave school. Isaac Bennett and Malcolm Crockett are next on the Panthers' depth chart. It's a huge loss for Pittsburgh and a major gain for whatever school Shell chooses next. Shell was one of the elite recruits of 2012. |
| 4/1/2013 | Russell Bellomy, QB, MICH |
Michigan's Bellomy Tears ACLNews: Russell Bellomy has torn ACL and is out indefinitely, the NationalFootballPost.com reports. Analysis: The backup QB will likely miss the entire 2013 season. |
| 4/1/2013 | David Watford, QB, UVA |
UVA QB Watford Seems Bulk of Snaps in ScrimmageNews: David Watford took most of the first-team snaps in the Cavaliers first scrimmage of the spring, according to the Daily Progress. Analysis: The quarterbacks played in their current order on the depth chart, with last year's starter Phillip Sims entering third. | 4/1/2013 | A.J. Blue, RB, UNC |
UNC RB Blue Has Early Lead in BackfieldNews: A.J. Blue is proving to be a leader this spring, and is currently in position to start according to the Gaston Gazette. Analysis: A.J. Blue is competing with Romar Morris and freshman Khris Francis to replace Gio Bernard. Blue may lead this battle now, but he's not nearly the dynamic, home run threat of Bernard, or Morris. He'll have value come September, but is likely looking at a shared backfield. |
| 3/25/2013 | Amir Carlisle, RB, ND |
Notre Dame's Carlisle Breaks CollarboneNews: Amir Carlisle will miss the rest of the spring with a broken collarbone, CBS Sports reports. Analysis: Amir Carlisle will be ready well in advance of the fall, however. He'll likely back up George Atkinson. |
| 3/19/2013 | Charley Loeb, QB, CUSE |
Cuse QB Loeb Early Favorite to StartNews: Charley Loeb will begin spring practice as the favorite to replace Ryan Nassib at quarterback, according to The Post-Standard. Analysis: Charley Loeb is high on talent and short on experience, and the pro-style passer will face competition from dual threats John Kinder and Terrel Hunt. At this point, it wouldn't be surprising to see all three play some come September. |
| 3/18/2013 | Greyson Lambert, QB, UVA |
UVA QB Lambert Will Get Chance in SpringNews: Greyson Lambert is listed second on the Cavaliers' pre-spring depth chart, ahead of returning starter Philip Sims. | 3/17/2013 | Silas Redd, RB, USC |
USC's Redd Tears MeniscusNews: Silas Redd will miss the spring with a torn meniscus but should be ready for the fall, Orange County Register writer Rich Hammond reports. Analysis: Assuming Silas Redd can avoid setbacks, it's unlikely that this will be an issue by the time the fall arrives. |
| 3/11/2013 | Cody Hoffman, WR, BYU |
BYU's Hoffman Recovering From SurgeryNews: Cody Hoffman will miss the spring after undergoing surgery to repair a torn shoulder labrum, according to BYU reporter Robbie Bullough. Analysis: It appears as if this will be close to a non-issue in the big picture. Cody Hoffman is an experienced player who will be ready to go in 2013 so long as he gets some fall practice time in. |
| 3/11/2013 | Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, WASH |
Washington's Seferian-Jenkins Gets DWINews: Austin Seferian-Jenkins was arrested for a DUI on Saturday, the Seattle Times reports. Analysis: So long as ASJ doesn't have other infractions besides this one, we have to assume any penalties will be ceremonial for the most part. If he receives a suspension, in other words, we can't see it lasting into the season. Washington will need ASJ in Week 1 if they hope to compete with Boise State. |
| 3/6/2013 | Darius Millines, WR, ILL |
Illinois Suspends MillinesNews: Illinois suspended Darius Millines for a violation of team rules, ESPN reports. Analysis: Darius Millines' status with the team will be reevaluated in May. It's not clear what his status might be going forward. |

| 2/27/2013 | Jameill Showers, QB, TXAM |
Showers Leaves A&M For UTEPNews: Jameill Showers will transfer from Texas A&M to UTEP, the Killeen Daily Herald reports. Analysis: Jameill Showers could very well be a good player, but there was just no chance to see the field with Johnny Manziel at A&M. Showers will be immediately eligible for UTEP and will almost definitely start. He'll be on the fantasy college football sleeper list when the 2013 season arrives. |
| 2/27/2013 | Ricardo Young, QB, MD |
Terps' Transfer QB Young Will Lead Spring DrillsNews: Ricardo Young will be the team's top quarterback during the spring, as C.J. Brown, Caleb Rowe and Perry Hills continue recovering from knee surgeries, according to the Washington Post. Analysis: Ricardo Young began his career at Virginia Tech, with stops in junior college and New Mexico before landing in College Park. New Terps offensive coordinator Mike Locksley was Young's coach at New Mexico, and that familiarity should help Young put some pressure on Brown come August. |
| 2/27/2013 | C.J. Brown, QB, MD |
Terps' QB Brown Limited During SpringNews: C.J. Brown (knee, ACL) will workout individually, and possibly mix in some 7-on-7 drills during spring practice, according to the Washington Post. Analysis: C.J. Brown is the presumed starter come August, as he'll be a full year removed from knee surgery. Transfer Ricardo Young will handle snaps this spring, and has a chance to put some heat on Brown heading into the fall. |
| 2/25/2013 | Michael Campanaro, WR, WAKE |
Wake WR Campanaro Likely To Miss SpringNews: Michael Campanaro will likely sit out spring practice while recovering from ankle surgery, according to ESPN.com. Analysis: "Camp(anaro) is going to have some ankle surgery on a bone chip floating around so we're going to miss him," said offensive coordinator Steed Lobotzke. It doesn't sound like anything serious, so there's no reason to downgrade Camampanaro this far away from draft day. |
| 2/11/2013 | Tyler Gaffney, RB, STNFRD |
Gaffney Returns to StanfordNews: Tyler Gaffney will return to the Stanford football team for the 2013 season, CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman reports. Analysis: Tyler Gaffney tried to cut out a career in pro baseball, but he returns to Stanford after sitting out 2012. | 2/11/2013 | Fitzgerald Toussaint, RB, MICH |
Michigan's Toussaint Doing BetterNews: Michigan running backs coach Fred Jackson expects Fitzgerald Toussaint (leg) to be ready for the start of the 2013 season, MLive.com reports. Toussaint was a major bust before suffering the injury, but he'll still be a player to watch closely due to the huge year he had in 2011. |
| 2/11/2013 | Tracy Moore, WR, OKLAST |
Oklahoma State's Moore Still AroundNews: Although he showed up on the list of players participating in the NFL Combine, Tracy Moore (ankle) will in fact return to Oklahoma State in 2013, The Oklahoman reports. Analysis: It's not clear why Tracy Moore showed up on the Combine list, but he obtained a medical redshirt back in November and will return to Oklahoma State in 2013, as planned. Josh Stewart, Charlie Moore and Blake Jackson will all command a lot of passes, so Moore isn't necessarily a great fantasy target next year outside of Big 12-only leagues. |
| 2/4/2013 | Marquise Williams, QB, UNC |
Heels' QB Williams Not in SchoolNews: Marquise Williams is not enrolled in classes for the spring semester, the Raleigh News & Observer reports. Analysis: It's not huge news for 2013, as Bryn Renner remains in Chapel Hill, but assuming Marquise Williams is gone for good, the Heels will have an interesting battle in 2014. This offense makes fantasy stars out of it's signal callers, so don't forget to monitor the backup race this spring/summer. |
| 2/2/2013 | O.J. Ross, WR, PURDUE |
Purdue's Ross Suspended IndefinitelyNews: O.J. Ross has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules, ESPN reports. Analysis: It's not clear what rules he broke or if he'll return for his senior year. He was second on the team last season with 56 receptions. |
| 1/17/2013 | Jacoby Brissett, QB, NCST |
Former UF QB Brissett Transfering to N.C. StateNews: Jacoby Brissett will enroll at North Carolina State for the spring semester, and be eligible to play in the 2014 season, the Palm Beach Post reports. Analysis: Jacoby Brissett fell behind Jeff Driskel at Florida, and should provide a nice boost to the 'Pack offense when eligible. |
| 1/16/2013 | A.J. Barker, WR, MINN |
A.J. Barker Arrested, 2013 Team In DoubtNews: A.J. Barker was charged Jan. 14 in Houston on suspicion of marijuana possession, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. He was arrested on the University of Houston campus, where he intends to attend classes. However, he hasn't been offered a scholarship and isn't a member of the team, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Analysis: He had 577 yards receiving and seven touchdowns in eight games for the Gophers, but left the program amid tension with head coach Jerry Kill. It looks like he may not play in Houston with his legal problems, leaving his status for the 2013 season in doubt. |
| 1/16/2013 | Logan Thomas, QB, VATECH |
VT QB Thomas Returning For Senior SeasonNews: Logan Thomas announced he'll return to Blacksburg for the 2013 season, according to the Washington Post. Analysis: Logan Thomas took a step back in 2012, struggling with inaccuracy while operating with new wide receivers, a rebuilt offensive line and a struggling rushing attack. He'll face all of those obstacles again as a senior, but he's just as likely to have a bounce back season as he is to struggle. |
| 1/15/2013 | Justin Hunter, WR, TENN |
Tennessee's Hunter Off to NFLNews: Justin Hunter will enter the 2013 NFL Draft, ESPN.com reports. Analysis: Justin Hunter might be the most athletic receiver in the draft at at least 6-foot-3 and with exceptional explosiveness and deep speed. Hunter suffered a torn ACL early in the 2011 season and was a bit off in 2012 as a result, so his stock is down relative to where it was a year ago. Hunter doesn't figure to be a great possession target since his hands are probably just average and he doesn't cut sharp on a dime, but his rare vertical speed earns him a cushion and a nice margin of error as he runs routes, and he ends up open a lot of the time even if he doesn't look all that graceful doing it. Where he figures to shine, in any case, is as a deep and intermediate route target, where his length and explosiveness figure to make him a headache right away for NFL defenses. Hunter could very well be a first-round pick, and we doubt he falls out of the top 40. |
| 1/15/2013 | Robert Woods, WR, USC |
Woods Out At USCNews: Robert Woods, a receiver from USC, will enter the 2013 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Times reports. Analysis: Robert Woods was at one point hyped as a potential top-10 pick, but a year of injuries and the emergence of the superior Marqise Lee have him looking at the late first round and early second round grades for the time being. We assess him somewhere between those two points -- Woods is a very good prospect who could compete for a selection in the first 20 picks. Although he failed to average 11.5 yards per catch over his last two years at USC, Woods possesses a lot of explosiveness and smoothness as a runner, emerging as such an effective possession target for USC specifically because his explosiveness and speed demand vertical cushions, making him an easy short-pass target. We suspect he'll be a significantly more active downfield factor in the NFL. It's not out of the question for him to be the first receiver selected, but we think he'll more likely be the second, third or fourth wideout pick, probably in the first round, but perhaps in the early second. |
| 1/14/2013 | Cierre Wood, RB, ND |
Wood Leaves Notre DameNews: Cierre Wood will enter the 2013 NFL Draft, ESPN's Joe Schad reports. Analysis: Cierre Wood is a bit under the radar at the moment since he was Notre Dame's backup running back this year, but he's among the draft's best prospects at the position, and a better one than the guy who started ahead of him (Theo Riddick) this year. Wood's demotion this year was probably due largely to a two-game suspension he had to start the year, and he stayed on the bench because Notre Dame didn't want to mess with a winning formula. Wood ran for 742 yards (6.5 YPC) and four touchdowns in 11 games off the bench this year, and he had 1,102 yards (5.1 YPC) and nine scores in 2011. Wood is merely decent-to-good in terms of athleticism, but he complements that with good balance and a standout ability to plant and cut. He should be on teams' radars in the fourth round, and maybe even the third. George Atkinson should have a big 2013 as Notre Dame's primary remaining running back. |
| 1/14/2013 | Michael Ford, RB, LSU |
Ford Leaves LSUNews: Michael Ford will enter the 2013 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Analysis: Although Michael Ford might have been as low as fifth on the LSU depth chart, he might get drafted. He's a former top recruit who almost always produced when on the field, but LSU's incredible running back depth (and perhaps some academic eligibility issues) kept Ford from earning a big role. He led the team with 756 yards (6.0 YPC) on the ground in 2011, rushing for seven touchdowns on 127 carries, and he averaged 5.5 yards per carry in 2011. Ford has a thick build and shows an ability to charge in a straight line, but a lot of his production came on option tosses, and there's little evidence that he has the skills to project as a traditional runner. |
| 1/14/2013 | Spencer Ware, RB, LSU |
LSU's Ware Heads to NFLNews: Spencer Ware will enter the 2013 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Analysis: Spencer Ware is a very talented athlete, but his underachievement at LSU gives reason to fear work ethic issues, and he was suspended for a game in 2011 for failing a drug test. Ware failed to average four yards per carry over his last two years at LSU, but if he gets his act together he should test very well in pre-draft workouts, and the success of fellow underachieving former top recruit Bryce Brown could make Ware a coveted gamble in the sixth or seventh round. He's a big back with standout balance and foot quickness, and he's a fairly talented receiver, too. |
| 1/14/2013 | Joseph Randle, RB, OKLAST |
Randle Leaves CowboysNews: Joseph Randle will enter the 2013 NFL Draft, the Associated Press reports. Analysis: Joseph Randle kind of strikes us as a poor man's Darren McFadden. He doesn't have McFadden's injury issues -- the comparison is strictly regarding build and skill sets -- but like McFadden, Randle is a bit of an upright runner with a lower build thinner than his upper, and he's a skilled slasher with standout receiving ability. He was largely a RB/WR tweener as a backup to Kendall Hunter in 2010, catching 37 passes for 427 yards in 13 games, but since then Randle added some bulk and rounded out his game, showing a solid all-around skill set by this year, when he ran for 1,417 yards (5.2 YPC) and 14 touchdowns in 13 games. Although not naturally strong, Randle does a good job of using his momentum to slide past tacklers and fall forward once he gets moving, getting narrow in traffic to slip forward for subtle yardage. If he gets open field, Randle shows good explosiveness and strong cutback ability to break free from over- and under-pursuers. We think he might be the second running back picked after Eddie Lacy, with a good chance of going in the second round. |
| 1/14/2013 | Notre Dame, DST, ND |
Notre Dame's Defense Gives Up 529 Yards of Total Offense in Championship Game LossNews: Notre Dame's defense gave up 529 yards of total offense and let Alabama be 8-of-13 on third downs in their 42-14 loss to Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game on January 7th. Analysis: The Fighting Irish defense was unable to hold back all aspects of the Alabama offense, and before even the first quarter ended, the outcome of the game was pretty much in hand. |
| 1/14/2013 | Tyler Eifert, TE, ND |
Notre Dame's Eifert Has Nice Night in Championship Game LossNews: Tyler Eifert had 61 yards on six catches in Notre Dame's 42-14 loss to Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game on January 7th. Analysis: The best tight end in the country finished his college career with 11 catches and nearly 2,000 receiving yards. |
| 1/14/2013 | TJ Jones, WR, ND |
Notre Dame's Jones Has Nice Night in Championship Game LossNews: TJ Jones had 90 yards on seven catches in Notre Dame's 42-14 loss to Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game on January 7th. Analysis: TJ Jones ended the 2012 season with four touchdowns on 50 catches. |
| 1/14/2013 | DaVaris Daniels, WR, ND |
Notre Dame's Daniels Has Strong Night in Championship Game LossNews: DaVaris Daniels had six catches for 115 yards in Notre Dame's 42-14 loss to Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game on January 7th. Analysis: Unfortunately for DaVaris Daniels and Notre Dame, most of these numbers came after the outcome of the game was already decided. |
| 1/14/2013 | Theo Riddick, RB, ND |
Notre Dame's Riddick Rushes for Only 37 Yards in Championship Game LossNews: Theo Riddick rushed for only 37 yards on 10 carries while having one touchdown reception in Notre Dame's 42-14 loss to Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game on January 7th. Analysis: Alabama's defense stopped any chance of a Irish rushing game getting started. |
| 1/14/2013 | Everett Golson, QB, ND |
Notre Dame's Golson Struggles in Championship Game LossNews: Everett Golson was 21-of-36 passing for 270 yards with one touchdown and one interception while running for -7 yards and a touchdown in Notre Dame's 42-14 loss to Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game on January 7th. Analysis: Everett Golson struggled against Alabama's top-notch defense, with most of those numbers coming after the result was already decided. |
| 1/11/2013 | Eddie Lacy, RB, BAMA |
Lacy Leaves AlabamaNews: Eddie Lacy will enter the 2013 NFL Draft, ESPN.com reports. Analysis: Eddie Lacy is our current favorite to be the first running back drafted. The Alabama star isn't as good as his recent Jamal Lewis comparisons would lead one to assume, but he should measure in around 5-foot-11 and at least 215 pounds, and he has playmaking athleticism to go along with that feature back frame. Lacy has excellent foot quickness that grants him elusiveness in traffic, and he has good enough long speed to break away once he creates separation. He's not anywhere near Trent Richardson's level as a prospect, but we think he's better than what Mark Ingram was. Lacy finished his 2012 season with 1,322 yards (6.5 YPC) and 17 touchdowns as a runner while adding 22 catches for 189 yards and two more scores. His departure for Alabama leaves T.J. Yeldon and Jalston Fowler (knee) as two breakout candidates for 2013. |
| 1/11/2013 | DeAndre Hopkins, WR, CLEM |
Clemson WR Hopkins Off to NFLNews: DeAndre Hopkins announced he'll skip his senior season and enter the NFL Draft, according to the Associated Press. Analysis: DeAndre Hopkins had a school record 1,405 yards and an ACC record 18 touchdowns as a junior. Martavis Bryant, Charonne Peake and possibly Germone Hopper will get the chance to replace Hopkins. |
| 1/9/2013 | Stedman Bailey, WR, WVU |
Bailey Leaves West VirginiaNews: Stedman Bailey, a wide receiver from West Virginia, will enter the 2013 NFL Draft, the Charleston Daily Mail reports. Analysis: Conventional wisdom has Stedman Bailey assessed as a second- or third-tier receiver in this draft, but we hold him in a regard similar to that of 2012's Kendall Wright, who went 20th overall. Bailey should measure in around 5'9.5", which limits his upside in the eyes of many, but he plays bigger than that since he has a standout ability to attack the ball when it's in the air. Bailey is a rare high-motor receiver who gives some glimpses of Steve Smith-like aggressiveness. He's not quite as fast or explosive as Smith, and he's not as powerful of a runner after the catch, but Bailey grades very well in all those categories himself and still looks every bit of a strong starting receiver in the NFL. His quarterback, Geno Smith, declared Bailey the nation's best route runner this year, which is a high compliment given that the two played on the same team as Tavon Austin, who heads into the draft with a good chance of going in the first round. Bailey caught 185 passes for 2,906 yards and 37 touchdowns in the last 26 games of his college career. |
| 1/9/2013 | Le'Veon Bell, RB, MICHST |
Bell Leaving Michigan StateNews: Le'Veon Bell, a running back from Michigan State, will enter the 2013 NFL Draft, the Detroit Free Press reports. Analysis: Le'Veon Bell is a big runner who should measure in around 6-foot-1, 240 pounds, possessing a build and a lean not dissimilar to that of LeGarrette Blount. Bell is a lot more reliable and versatile, however, showing an ability to stay on the field for passing downs. The downside is Bell seems to lack speed, perhaps to the point that he might struggle to stay in the 4.6-second range in the 40-yard dash. We have to believe that issue will keep him out of the first two rounds, making his likely landing spot somewhere in the third or fourth round. Despite his size and lack of speed, Bell shows surprising balance and wiggle for such a big runner, showing an ability to slip through traffic. Bell ran for 3,346 yards (4.99 YPC) and 33 touchdowns in 40 games at Michigan State. |
| 1/7/2013 | Jawan Jamison, RB, RUT |
Rutgers' Jamison Headed to NFLNews: Jawan Jamison announced that he would forgo the final two seasons of his college eligibility and enter the NFL draft, ESPN.com reports. Analysis: Jawan Jamison struggled with an ankle injury in the second half of the season, but still had 1075 yards and opened the season with five straight 100-yard games. At 5-8, 200 lbs, he does not have prototypical NFL size, but he is a shifty runner who could garner some interest. |
| 1/7/2013 | James Wilder, RB, FSU |
Nole RB Wilder ArrestedNews: James Wilder has been arrested and charged with failure to appear on a previous suspended license charge, the Tallahassee Democrat reports. Analysis: No additional details are readily available. The arrest is James Wilder's third in a year, but this hardly seems like something that would keep him out of action in September. |
| 1/6/2013 | Aaron Murray, QB, UGA |
Georgia's Murray Will Return for Senior SeasonNews: Aaron Murray tweeted that he would return for his senior seasion, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Analysis: The news is somewhat surprising, as most people anticipated that Aaron Murray would declare for the NFL draft. He was expected to be taken in the early rounds, but he'll look to cement himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the 2014 NFL Draft. He finished the 2012 season with 3,893 yards, 36 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. |
| 1/6/2013 | Kenny Stills, WR, OKLA |
Kenny Stills UpdateNews: Kenny Stills will enter April's NFL Draft, ESPN's Joe Schad reports. Analysis: Kenny Stills caught four touchdowns in a game against West Virginia this season, and finished the year with 82 catches for 959 yards and 11 touchdowns. In Friday's Cotton Bowl, Still made seven grabs for 67 yards. He'll forego his senior season in order to enter the draft. |
| 1/6/2013 | Michael Hunnicutt, K, OKLA |
OU's Hunnicutt Perfect in LossNews: Michael Hunnicutt made both of his short field goal attempts and his lone extra point in the 41-13 loss to Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl. Analysis: Michael Hunnicutt is already considered one of the nations top kickers and he wraps up his sophomore season hitting 17 of his 21 field goal attempts and connecting on 57-of-59 extra points. |
| 1/6/2013 | Sterling Shepard, WR, OKLA |
OU's Shepard Grabs 4News: Sterling Shepard had four catches for 43 yards and added 6 yards on one carry in a loss to Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl on Friday. Analysis: Sterling Shepard has had an excellent freshman season for the Sooners and will be a key element of their offense heading into his sophomore season. He totaled 45 catches for 621 yards and three touchdowns this season. |
| 1/6/2013 | Justin Brown, WR, OKLA |
OU's Brown Scores in LossNews: Justin Brown had seven catches for 57 yards and a touchdown in a 41-13 loss to Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl on Friday. Analysis: Justin Brown has been a great addition to the Sooners offense and should be drafted this spring. He had 73 catches for 879 yards and five touchdowns. |
| 1/6/2013 | Jalen Saunders, WR, OKLA |
OU's Saunders Stays HotNews: Jalen Saunders had nine catches for 63 yards in a loss to Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl on Friday. Analysis: Despite being ineligible the first four games of the season, Jalen Saunders managed to grab 62 catches for 829 yards and three touchdowns. Saunders is one of two junior wide receivers for the Sooner's that may opt for the NFL draft this spring. |
| 1/6/2013 | Damien Williams, RB, OKLA |
OU's Williams Limited in LossNews: Damien Williams had 16 carries for just 41 yards but added five catches for 19 yards in a loss to Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl on Friday. Analysis: Damien Williams had an impressive junior season that saw him take the starting running back job after running well early in the season. He'll finish with 946 yards and 11 touchdowns. |
| 1/6/2013 | Brennan Clay, RB, OKLA |
OU's Clay Leads Slow Rushing AttackNews: Brennan Clay had 10 carries for 44 yards and added a 10-yard reception in a loss to Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl on Friday. Analysis: Brennan Clay never really had a chance to find a rhythm this seasons and finishes with 555 yards rushing and six touchdowns. |
| 1/6/2013 | Landry Jones, QB, OKLA |
OU's Jones Solid in LossNews: Landry Jones was 35-48 for 278 yards, a touchdown and an interception in a loss to Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl on Friday. Analysis: Landry Jones wraps up his senior season and career at Oklahoma throwing for 16,646 yards and had 123 touchdowns to 52 interceptions over his 4 years as a starter. |
| 1/6/2013 | Tino Sunseri, QB, PITT |
Pittsburgh's Sunseri Gets Picked OffNews: Tino Sunseri had a pass picked off for the first time since September in the Compass Bowl loss to Ole Miss on Saturday. He was 16-of-32 for 185 yards and two touchdowns. Analysis: Tino Sunseri had a streak of 271 straight passes without an interception. He also had his poorest completion rate of the season. Sunseri showed enough accuracy in his senior season to possibly be a backup quarterback on Sundays next year. At 6-2, he does not have prototypical size for an NFL quarterback. |
| 1/6/2013 | Malcolm Crockett, RB, PITT |
Pittsburgh's Crockett Plays in Compass BowlNews: Malcolm Crockett saw just his second offensive action Saturday in the Compass Bowl against Ole Miss with Ray Graham (hamstring) out. He had five carries for 18 yards and two receptions for 24 yards. Analysis: Malcolm Crockett will likely backup Rushel Shell next year and served that role on Saturday. The Panthers fell behind early and had to pass the ball to play catch up. With Shell's back issues, Crockett will make a nice handcuff. |
| 1/6/2013 | Devin Street, WR, PITT |
Pittsburgh's Street Goes for 83 Yards and a TouchdownNews: Devin Street had seven receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown Saturday in the loss to Ole Miss in the Compass Bowl. Analysis: Devin Street has filed his papers for the NFL, but has said that he would return to the Panthers for his senior season. He finished the year with 73 catches for 975 yards and five touchdowns. After overcoming some injuries, he produced nicely. |
| 1/6/2013 | Mike Shanahan, WR, PITT |
Pittsburgh's Shanahan Grabs Late TouchdownNews: Mike Shanahan had four catches for 57 yards and a touchdown in the last two minutes of the Compass Bowl loss to Ole Miss on Saturday. Analysis: Mike Shanahan is a tight end-sized receiver who finished the season with 62 receptions for 983 yards and six touchdowns. He served as a complementary receiver for Devin Street for much of the season, but could get some interest from the next level because of his size. |
| 1/6/2013 | Pittsburgh, DST, PITT |
Pittsburgh Defense Run Over by Ole MissNews: The Pittsburgh defense allowed 224 rushing yards and surrendered 24 first half points in the blowout loss to Ole Miss in the Compass Bowl on Saturday. Analysis: The Panthers forced two interceptions, but they had trouble stopping the Ole Miss running attack which averaged 4.6 yards per carry. This was in stark contrast to how Pittsburgh finished the season. |
| 1/6/2013 | Kevin Harper, K, PITT |
Pittsburgh's Harper Kicks Field Goal, Two PATsNews: Kevin Harper kicked a season-long 47-yard field goal Saturday in the loss to Ole Miss in the Compass Bowl. He added two PATs. Analysis: Kevin Harper finished his collegiate career by hitting his last five field goal attempts. He was 20-of-27 on field goals and hit all 40 of his PATs. |
| 1/5/2013 | Colt Lyerla, TE, OREG |
Oregon's Lyerla Nets 52 Yards in Win Over Kansas StateNews: Colt Lyerla grabbed three receptions for 52 yards Thursday as Oregon downed Kansas State 35-17 in the 2013 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. Analysis: Lylerla seemed increasingly to become a favorite target of freshman quarterback Marcus Mariota over the latter part of the 2012 season, netting 12 receptions for a total of 190 yards and two touchdowns in the Ducks' last four contests. If that same momentum carries over into the start of the 2013 season, don't be surprised to find the then-junior becoming one of the Pac-12's premier fantasy options at tight end alongside the likes of Washington's Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Stanford's Zach Ertz. |
| 1/5/2013 | De'Anthony Thomas, RB, OREG |
Oregon's Thomas Erupts w/ Game-Opening TD Return in Bowl WinNews: De'Anthony Thomas notched a 94-yard kickoff return for a touchdown on the first play of the 2013 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and added four catches for 60 yards and a score Thursday as Oregon downed Kansas State 35-17 in Glendale, Arizona. Analysis: Though averaging less yardage per carry (7.6 v. 10.8) and reception (9.9 v. 13.2) in his sophomore campaign, De'Anthony Thomas ended up with just 54 combined yards less (1146 v. 1200) in those two categories in 2012 than he did as a freshman in 2011, this while scoring an equivalent number of touchdowns (16). Look for him to play a larger role in Oregon's offense in 2013, especially given that Kenjon Barner now departs for the NFL. |
| 1/5/2013 | Marcus Mariota, QB, OREG |
Oregon's Mariota Efficient in Fiesta Bowl Win Over KSUNews: Marcus Mariota completed 12-of-24 passing for 166 yards and two touchdowns and carried eight times for 62 yards and a third score Thursday as Oregon knocked off Kansas State 35-17 in the 2013 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. Analysis: The first freshman quarterback to lead the Ducks as a starter under center since Danny O'Neil in 1991, Marcus Mariota this year proved himself an outstanding ring leader for the Oregon offense, finishing his debut collegiate season with 2,677 yards passing, 32 touchdowns and just six interceptions and rushing for an additional 752 yards and five scores on 106 carries. |
| 1/5/2013 | Kenjon Barner, RB, OREG |
Oregon's Barner Finishes Career w/ Ducks Rushing for 143 Yards vs. KSUNews: Kenjon Barner ran for 143 yards on 30 carries and took a single reception for 24 yards and a touchdown Thursday night as Oregon defeated Kansas State 35-17 at the 2013 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. Analysis: With Kenjon Barner, who ends his senior campaign having rushed for 1,767 yards and 21 touchdowns, now off to the NFL, fantasy owners should expect to find either De'Anthony Thomas or freshman Byron Marshall heading up the Ducks' backfield beginning next fall. |
| 1/5/2013 | Ray Graham, RB, PITT |
Graham Out For PittNews: Ray Graham (hamstring) will miss Saturday's bowl game against Mississippi, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Analysis: Injuries have been a huge problem for Ray Graham the last two years, and this is certainly a disappointing end to his Pittsburgh career. Rushel Shell is the top backup. |
| 1/4/2013 | Kansas State, DST, KSTATE |
KSU Defense Slows OregonNews: Kansas State's defense held Oregon's potent offense to 385 yards and 35 points and blocked an extra point in a loss Thursday at the Fiesta Bowl. Analysis: K-State's defense was surprisingly solid this season as the 35 points given up in the Fiesta Bowl marks the second most they've given up all season. They will lose at least 9 starters on defense going into the 2013 season. |
| 1/4/2013 | Tyler Lockett, WR, KSTATE |
KSU's Lockett Has 4 CatchesNews: Tyler Lockett had four catches for 35 yards in the 35-17 loss to Oregon on Thursday in the Fiesta Bowl. Analysis: Tyler Lockett finishes a solid sophomore season with 44 catches for 687 yards and four touchdowns. He should be the top receiver for the Wildcats next season. |
| 1/4/2013 | Chris Harper, WR, KSTATE |
KSU's Harper Leads ReceiversNews: Chris Harper led all receivers on Thursday with eight catches for 71 yards in a loss to Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl. Analysis: Chris Harper had a solid senior season grabbing 58 catches for 857 yards and three touchdowns. He'll have one last chance to impress NFL scouts during the senior bowl. |
| 1/4/2013 | Angelo Pease, RB, KSTATE |
KSU's Pease With 8 TouchesNews: Angelo Pease had seven carries for 47 yards and added a 12-yard reception in a loss to Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl on Thursday. Analysis: Angelo Pease totaled 356 yards during his senior season and found the endzone just one. |
| 1/4/2013 | John Hubert, RB, KSTATE |
KSU's Hubert Finds EndzoneNews: John Hubert had 17 carries for just 55 yards but added two catches for 16 yards and a touchdown in a 35-17 loss to Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl on Thursday. Analysis: After a hot start to the season John Hubert was unable to find much success even with the help of dual-threat quarterback Colin Klein. He finishes his junior season with 947 yards rushing and 15 touchdowns. |
| 1/4/2013 | Collin Klein, QB, KSTATE |
KSU's Klein Contained in LossNews: Collin Klein struggled against a solid Oregon defense in the Fiesta Bowl on Thursday, completing 17-of-32 passes for 151 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions and adding 13 carries for 30 yards and a touchdown. Analysis: Collin Klein finishes an impressive senior season with 2,641 yards passing and 16 touchdowns to nine interceptions. He did most of his damage on the ground, rushing for 920 yards and 23 touchdowns. Klein will probably be a late round pick in the NFL draft this spring and has likely played his last game as a quarterback. |
| 1/3/2013 | Arthur Lynch, TE, UGA |
UGA's Lynch Grabs TDNews: Arthur Lynch caught three passes for 37 yards and a touchdown against Nebraska in the Florida Citrus Bowl on Tuesday. Analysis: Arthur Lynch finishes his junior season with 24 catches for 431 yards and three touchdowns. He's a decent option for next season at the tight end slot, assuming QB Aaron Murray returns for his senior season. |
| 1/3/2013 | Keith Marshall, RB, UGA |
UGA's Marshall Nets Receiving TDNews: Keith Marshall rushed eight times for 36 yards against Nebraska in the Florida Citrus Bowl on Tuesday, while also catching three balls for 39 yards and a touchdown out of the backfield. Analysis: Keith Marshall was the No. 2 back this season behind fellow freshman Todd Gurley, but he still managed 759 yards and eight scores on the ground. Still, Gurley's production was even better, and Marshall could find himself on the wrong end of the timeshare heading into next season. |
| 1/3/2013 | Georgia, DST, UGA |
Georgia D Gets Safety, Three TOs in Florida Citrus BowlNews: Analysis: The Georgia defense forced three turnovers Tuesday against Nebraska in the Florida Citrus Bowl en route to a 45-31 victory. The Bulldogs also netted a safety to begin the game. Georgia will lose Jarvis Jones, John Jenkins and possibly Alec Ogletree to the NFL, leaving gaping holes and big questions on the defensive side of the ball heading into next season. |
| 1/3/2013 | Marshall Morgan, K, UGA |

| 1/3/2013 | Florida, DST, FLA |
Florida D Steamrolled by Teddy BridgewaterNews: Analysis: The normally stout Florida defense allowed 27 points to Louisville and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater in the Sugar Bowl on Wednesday. Bridgewater threw for 266 yards and two touchdowns, as the Gators could muster just one turnover in the process. On the bright side, Andre Debose did return a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown, so the game wasn't a total loss for the Florida DST. The Gator defense will lose safety Matt Elam and DT Sharrif Floyd to the NFL drat, and DE Dominique Easley could follow suit shortly as well. As a result, a repeat of a top-3 defense next season could be difficult. |
| 1/3/2013 | Andre Debose, WR, FLA |

| 1/3/2013 | Matt Jones, RB, FLA |
UF's Jones Finds End ZoneNews: Matt Jones rushed three times for 16 yards and a touchdown against Louisville in the Sugar Bowl on Wednesday. UF's Driskel Exposed in Sugar Bowl LossNews: Jeff Driskel completed 16-of-29 passes for 175 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against Louisville in the Sugar Bowl on Wednesday. Analysis: On Florida's first play from scrimmage, Jeff Driskel threw a pick-six, setting the tone in a game that was not as close as the 33-23 final score indicated. | 1/3/2013 | Teddy Bridgewater, QB, LVILLE |
Louisville's Bridgewater Helps Cardinals Past FloridaNews: Teddy Bridgewater was 20-of-32 for 266 yards with two touchdowns and an interception Wednesday against Florida in the Sugar Bowl. Analysis: Teddy Bridgewater looked healthy after suffering a broken wrist and sprained ankle in late November. Bridgewater will easily be the top quarterback in the Big East next season by a wide margin. |
| 1/3/2013 | Jeremy Wright, RB, LVILLE |
Louisville's Wright Runs for 84 Yards, Scores TouchdownNews: Jeremy Wright had a season-high 25 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown Wednesday in the Sugar Bowl win over Florida. He added three receptions for 19 yards. Analysis: Jeremy Wright had a breakout junior season, but the Cardinal running attack got bottled up in the last month of the season. It didn't help that Senorise Perry (knee) went out, but Wright went scoreless in his final regular season games with a combined 89 yards. He will likely be part of a running back by committee next year with Perry, Dominique Brown, and Corvin Lamb. |
| 1/3/2013 | DeVante Parker, WR, LVILLE |
Louisville's Parker Scores in Sixth Straight GameNews: DeVante Parker hauled in a beautiful over-the-shoulder catch from 17 yards out for a touchdown in the second quarter of the Cardinals' win over Florida in the Sugar Bowl. He finished with two receptions for 31 yards. Analysis: DeVante Parker scored at least one touchdown in eight of his last nine games and 10 of his 40 receptions went for touchdowns. As the Cardinal running game fell off in the second half, Parker became the best red zone target. The sophomore should be a nice fantasy target in 2013. |
| 1/3/2013 | Damian Copeland, WR, LVILLE |
Louisville's Copeland Snags Touchdown CatchNews: Damian Copeland caught a 19-yard touchdown pass Wednesday in the Sugar Bowl win over Florida. He finished with two catches for 31 yards. | 1/3/2013 | Kelvin Benjamin, WR, FSU |
FSU WR Benjamin Goes QuietlyNews: Kelvin Benjamin caught just one pass for 13 yards in Tuesday night's Orange Bowl against Northern Illinois. Analysis: Kelvin Benjamin finishes 2012 with 30 catches, 495 and four scores, one of five 'Noles to catch at least 27 passes. He only had two grabs oevr the final three games however, and despite his ridiculous natural talent, isn't a good bet for a breakout in 2013 as FSU breaks in a new quarterback. |
| 1/2/2013 | Marqise Lee, WR, USC |
USC's Lee Finishes Top Trojans' WR Despite Being Held to 41 YardsNews: Marqise Lee took six receptions for 41 yards as the Trojans' top receiver Monday as Southern California fell to Georgia Tech 21-7 at the 2012 Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas. Analysis: With Max Wittek replacing Matt Barkley under center for Monday's game, Marqise Lee was held to his second-lowest receiving performance of the year. Regardless, he ends his sophomore campaign second only to Terrance Williams in total yardage by a wideout in FBS in 2012 and should be regarded as the premier fantasy option as his position heading into the 2013 season. |
| 1/2/2013 | Max Wittek, QB, USC |
USC's Wittek Struggles in Bowl Loss to Georgia TechNews: Max Wittek completed 14-of-37 passes for 107 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions Monday as Southern California fell to Georgia Tech 21-7 in the 2012 Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas. Analysis: Max Wittek struggled in his second official start as the Trojans' starter under center, having four of his passes deflected at the line and turning the ball over three times on the day. No doubt the additional reps received in replacing the injured Matt Barkley at quarterback helped earned Wittek gain valuable experience, but he'll likely have to turn a true corner in the off-season to hold off the competition he'll encounter heading into the 2013 season from redshirt freshman Cody Kessler and incoming freshman Max Browne. |

Analysis: Zach Ertz finished his junior campaign the nation's top yardage producer at tight end, taking 69 receptions for 898 yards and six touchdowns. Should he remain for his senior season, expect that Ertz once again joins Washington's Austin Seferian-Jenkins as one of the top fantasy gets at tight end heading into the 2013 season. |

Stanford's Taylor Gains 88 Yards in Bowl Win Over WisconsinNews: Stepfan Taylor took 20 carries for 88 yards and a touchdown Tuesday as Stanford shook off Wisconsin 20-14 at the 2013 Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Analysis: Stepfan Taylor finishes his final year with the Cardinal having proven himself a workhorse, taking a numbing 322 carries for 1530 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns. With the Mansfield, Texas tailback now leaving the collegiate ranks, look for current junior Anthony Wilkerson to take over the reins of Stanford's rushing attack heading into the 2013 season. |
| 1/2/2013 | Kevin Hogan, QB, STNFRD |
Stanford's Hogan Throws for 123 Yards in Rose Bowl WinNews: Kevin Hogan completed 12-of-19 passing for 123 yards and carried seven times for 54 yards Saturday as Stanford downed Wisconsin 20-14 at the 2013 Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Analysis: Kevin Hogan finishes an efficient freshman campaign having thrown for 1096 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions while also adding 263 yards and two additional scores on the ground, but leaves question marks as to his overall fantasy value for owners heading into the 2013 season. Analysis: Rodney Smith hasn't been a fantasy success during his career, having never caught more than 38 balls or four scores in a season. | 1/2/2013 | Devonta Freeman, RB, FSU |
FSU RB Freeman Struggles in Orange BowlNews: Devonta Freeman ran 14 times for 30 yards in Tuesday's Orange Bowl against Northern Illinois. Analysis: A disappointing end to a bounceback second half for Devonta Freeman. | 1/2/2013 | EJ Manuel, QB, FSU |
FSU QB Manuel Caps Career With Two TDsNews: EJ Manuel completed 26-of-38 passes for 291 yards and a touchdownd, and ran six times for 26 yards and a score in Tuesday's Orange Bowl against Northern Illinois. Analysis: It marked the first time EJ Manuel had topped 200 yards in the last four games. He departs FSU with a 4-0 bowl record, but is probably best described as a "good" quarterback. Clint Trickett, Jacob Coker and Jameis Winston will battle to replace Manuel. |
| 1/2/2013 | Roderick McDowell, RB, CLEM |
Clemson RB McDowell Time is ComingNews: Roderick McDowell ran seven times for 26 yards in Monday's Chick-Fil-A Bowl against LSU. Analysis: Roderick McDowell managed 83 carries for 450 yards and five scores in relief of Andre Ellington in 2012, and looks poised to take over the lead role in this potent attack heading to 2013. Barring a committee approach here, McDowell is going to be drafted very early next August. |

Clemson RB Ellington Gets 85 Total YardsNews: Andre Ellington ran 11 times for 50 yards, and caught one pass for 35 yards in Monday's Chick-Fil-A Bowl against LSU. Analysis: Charone Peake finishes 2012 with 25 catches for 172 yards and two touchdowns. He failed to take advantage of injuries to Sammy Watkins, and a suspension to Martavius Bryant, and is beginning to look like a tremendously hyped athlete who hasn't put it together on the field. |
| 1/2/2013 | Vad Lee, QB, GATECH |
GT QB Lee Scores Once in Sun BowlNews: Vad Lee completed 2-of-5 passes for 26 yards, a touchdown and an interception, while rushing 10 times for 52 yards in Monday's Sun Bowl against Southern Cal. Analysis: Vad Lee did most of his damage on a 23 yard pass, and 24 yard rush. He struggled in the second half, and gave way to Tevin Washington. Lee will get the keys to this offense in 2013, and comes with tremendous upside. There will be growing pains, but his Week 11 performance at North Carolina (169 yards passing, 112 rushing, three TDs,) give you an idea of what he's capable of. |
| 1/2/2013 | Tevin Washington, QB, GATECH |

| 1/2/2013 | Jeremy Moore, WR, GATECH |
GT WR Moore Grabs OneNews: Jeremy Moore caught one pass for a team-high 27 yards in Monday's Sun Bowl against Southern Cal. Analysis: Jeremy Moore quit football in late September, only to return a few weeks later. | 1/2/2013 | Venric Mark, RB, NWEST |
Northwestern's Mark Quiet In Bowl WinNews: Venric Mark had 13 carries for 56 yards and two receptions for three yards in Northwestern's win over Mississippi State in the Gator Bowl. Analysis: Venric Mark was largely bottled up in the win as Northwestern surprisingly had more success in the air. Mark finished the season with 1366 yards rushing with 12 touchdowns. He also scored two touchdowns on punt returns with a 18.7 punt return average. He should return for his senior season and will be a top fantasy pick with nearly all key players (7 of 11 starters) on the Northwestern offense set to return. |

GT B-Back Sims Goes for 99 YardsNews: David Sims ran 17 times for 99 yards in Monday's Sun Bowl against Southern Cal, adding a touchdown on a three yard catch. Analysis: Markus Wheaton finishes his senior campaign with the Beavers having posted his second-lowest receiving totals of the year - only his two catches for 25 yards in an Oct. 27 loss for the Beavers at Washington proved worse. |
| 12/31/2012 | Cody Vaz, QB, OREGST |
Oregon State's Vaz Struggles in Bowl Loss to TexasNews: Cody Vaz completed 15-of-28 passing for 194 yards and two interceptions Saturday as Oregon State fell to Texas 31-27 in the 2012 Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio. Vaz finishes his junior campaign with 1,480 yards passing, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions, but could easily be pushed for Oregon State's starting role under center in 2013 by current sophomore and co-starter at quarterback this season, Sean Mannion. |
| 12/31/2012 | Storm Woods, RB, OREGST |
Oregon State's Woods Leads All Rushers in Bowl Loss to TexasNews: Storm Woods carried 21 times for 118 yards and two touchdowns Saturday as Oregon State fell to Texas 31-27 in the 2012 Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio. Regardless, the tailback from Pflugerville, Texas finishes his freshman campaign with the Beavers on a strong note, totaling 940 yards and 13 touchdowns on 192 carries for the year - numbers which logical suggests he should easily build upon in 2013. |
| 12/31/2012 | Stefphon Jefferson, RB, NEVADA |
Nevada's Jefferson Leaves For NFLNews: Stefphon Jefferson will declare for the 2013 NFL Draft, the Fresno Bee reports. Analysis: Stefphon Jefferson had an enormous 2012 season for Nevada, running for 1,883 yards (5.0 YPC) and 24 touchdowns, but he's not as good as those numbers would lead you to believe. He doesn't stand out in any area, as his main strength was his ability to hit a hole and take what's there, but that's not saying much in a diversion-heavy Nevada offense that often cleared the middle a great deal thanks to quarterback Cody Fajardo's ability to break contain. Aside from his ability to run decisively between the tackles and fall forward, though, Jefferson is typically average at best. He sort of comes across as a poor man's Vick Ballard, which leads us to believe he won't be more than a sixth or seventh-round consideration for most NFL teams. |
| 12/30/2012 | Donnell Kirkwood, RB, MINN |

Analysis: Philip Nelson took over halfway through the season and while he had some early success, he struggled down the stretch, throwing five interceptions in his final two regular season game. Despite the struggles, Nelson should progress in the offseason when the he gets more reps with the first unit as the incumbent starter. |

Analysis: The 5-9 back looked like he was untacklable against the Mountaineers and had scoring runs of 33 and 67 yards. Prince-Tyson Gulley had a nose for the endzone all season and finished with 10 scores (eight on the ground, two through the air). |
| 12/29/2012 | Jerome Smith, RB, CUSE |
Syracuse's Smith Splits Mountaineer Defense for 158 YardsNews: Jerome Smith had 29 carries for 158 yards Saturday against West Virginia in the Pinstripe Bowl. | 12/29/2012 | Riley Nelson, QB, BYU |
BYU'S Nelson Finishes Career On Low NoteNews: Riley Nelson came off the bench and threw an interception in the Cougars' 23-6 Poinsettia Bowl win over San Diego State. Analysis: Injuries took a toll on Riley Nelson throughout his college career, and he lost his job to James Lark after Lark tossed six touchdown passes in BYU's final regular season game while Nelson was out with rib and lung injuries. Nelson did get to attempt two passes in the Poinsettia Bowl, so it's probably safe to assume that he is healthy even if his performance left something to be desired. He could get a shot in the NFL as an undrafted free agent, but probably isn't worth a draft pick. |

Analysis: Joseph Fauria ends his senior year with the Bruins having pulled in 46 receptions for 637 yards and leading the nation at his position in overall number of scores (12). Expect UCLA's coaching staff to have a difficult time finding a replacement for that type of production in 2013, with current junior Darius Bell having totaled just seven receptions for 143 yards and a touchdown this season. |

Analysis: Shaquelle Evans finishes his junior season with a team-leading 60 receptions for 877 yards, but ended up finding end zone only three times all season. He could prove explosive in 2013 given a full season proving himself a reliable target for Brett Hundley, but will have to do more in the red zone to garner the interest of fantasy owners outside of Pac-12 only leagues. |
| 12/29/2012 | Jerry Johnson, WR, UCLA |
UCLA's Johnson Tops 100 Yards Receiving in Loss to BaylorNews: Jerry Johnson grabbed five passes for a team-leading 116 yards receiving Thursday as UCLA fell to Baylor 49-26 in the 2012 Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl in San Diego, California. Virginia Tech was scoreless through three quarters in the Russell Athletic Bowl on Friday. | 12/28/2012 | Josh Snead, RB, DUKE |
Duke RB Snead Tops Century MarkNews: Josh Snead ran 17 times for 107 yards in Thursday's Belk Bowl against Cincinnati, but lost a critical fumble late. Analysis: The fumble will be what most folks remember, but Josh Snead showed his speed throughout the night. With QB Sean Renfree departing, it's possible Duke will run more in 2013. Texas Tech's Amaro ClearedNews: Jace Amaro (upper body) has been cleared to play in Texas Tech's bowl game against Minnesota, Texas Tech Associate Athletics Director of Communications Blayne Beal reports. The squads face off Friday. |

CMU's Davis Among Three WRs Suspended for Little Ceasars BowlNews: Titus Davis, sophomore Courtney Williams and junior Defarrel Davis were all suspended Sunday for violation of team policy and will not play for Central Michigan Wednesday as the Chippewas take on Western Kentucky in the 2012 Little Ceasars Bowl, The Morning Sun reports. | 12/24/2012 | Sean Mannion, QB, OREGST |

Analysis: Riley might have emphasized his staff was picking "between good, not good and bad" when it came to the decision to start Vaz over Sean Mannion, but the fact the latter has thrown for 1,286 yards 11 touchdowns and just one interception in six games, while Mannion accounted for 2,446 yards, 15 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in nine games, seems to make the junior a logical choice to lead the Beavers offense against the Longhorns. |
| 12/23/2012 | Kasen Williams, WR, WASH |
Washington's Williams Leads Huskies w/ 95 YardsNews: Kasen Williams took six catches for 95 yards to lead the Huskies in receiving Saturday as Washington fell to Boise State 28-26 in the Maaco Bowl in Las Vegas. He finishes his sophomore campaign having rushed for 1439 yards and 16 touchdowns on 289 carries, good enough numbers to leave the Spokane, Washington native currently fifth-best in the Pac-12 for 2012. |
| 12/23/2012 | Keith Price, QB, WASH |
Washington's Price Finishes Junior Season in Disappointing FashionNews: Keith Price completed 20-of-39 passing for 242 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions Saturday as Washington fell to Boise State 28-26 in the 2012 Maaco Bowl in Las Vegas. Analysis: Keith Price earned a second score on the day thanks to a seven run scamper into the end zone just before halftime, but otherwise ended his junior season as the Huskies' starter under center with yet another disappointing performance, this time against an 11-2 Boise State squad in the Maaco Bowl. Price finishes the 2012 season having passed for 2728 yards and 19 touchdowns, but also adding 13 interceptions to his overall totals. |
| 12/23/2012 | Holden Huff, TE, BOISE |
Boise's Huff Hauls in Two Touchdowns in Bowl WinNews: Holden Huff caught two balls for 35 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 28-26 win over Washington in the Maaco Bowl. Analysis: Holden Huff is a freshman tight-end and has drawn quite a bit of interest around the end-zone in the last three games he's played in. Keep an eye on this tight-end in MWC-only leagues in 2013. |
| 12/23/2012 | Matt Miller, WR, BOISE |
Boise State's Miller Ends Year as Top ReceiverNews: Matt Miller hauled in six catches for a team-high 90 yards in Saturday's 28-26 win over Washington in the Maaco Bowl. Analysis: Matt Miller is a sophomore and led the team with 66 catches and 769 yards. With another year to mesh with quarterback Joe Southwick, Miller could be a viable fantasy option in 2013. |
| 12/23/2012 | Jay Ajayi, RB, BOISE |
Boise State's Ajayi in Line to Start in 2013News: Jay Ajayi carried the ball four times for seven yards in Saturday's 28-26 win over Washington in the Maaco Bowl. Analysis: Jay Ajayi received limited opportunities as he did much of the season because of workhorse and fifth-year senior D.J. Harper. With Harper gone in 2013, the speedy freshman will get his chance. He's definitely worth a spot in MWC-only leagues and becomes intriguing in any other format. |
| 12/23/2012 | D.J. Harper, RB, BOISE |
Boise State's Harper Ends College Career With Bowl WinNews: D.J. Harper carried the ball 16 times for 72 yards in Saturday's 28-26 win over Washington in the Maaco Bowl. Analysis: D.J. Analysis: Adam Muema was not only one of the best running backs in the Mountain West Conference this season, he was one of the best in all of the country. In 2013, he should be a target in any fantasy format because 1,458 yards and 16 touchdowns is nothing to blink at. |
| 12/21/2012 | Adam Dingwell, QB, SDGST |
SDSU's Dingwell Forces Five Turnovers in Bowl LossNews: Adam Dingwell completed only 12-of-29 passes for 144 yards to go along with three interceptions and two fumbles in Thursday's 23-6 loss to BYU in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. Analysis: Adam Dingwell is a sophomore and is surely not a lock for the starting job next season. After taking over for the injured senior Ryan Katz, Dingwell threw for only 939 yards in six games. His touchdown to interception ratio wasn't much better with eight scores and seven picks. |
| 12/20/2012 | Kyle Federico, K, RUT |

Analysis: Shaquille Powell was a top recruit, but saw just 28 carries in seven games this season. He could still move back to running back, but is clearly behind Jela Duncan and Josh Snead heading in to 2013. |
| 12/17/2012 | Shontrelle Johnson, RB, IOWAST |
ISU's Johnson Will Miss Liberty BowlNews: Shontrelle Johnson will miss the Liberty Bowl after injuring his right knee during practice on Saturday, ESPN.com reports. Analysis: Shontrelle Johnson has only seen double digit touches once in the last 10 games. |

| 12/13/2012 | Jeff Greene, WR, GATECH |
GT WR Greene Leaves TeamNews: Jeff Greene has left the Yellow Jackets, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Analysis: It seems as if Jeff Greene didn't see eye-to-eye with the coaching staff, who were frustrated by his attitude and effort. Greene averaged a solid 21.8 yards per catch, and his departure opens the door for Darren Waller to be the Jackets' jump ball target. |
| 12/10/2012 | Justus Pickett, RB, MD |
Terps' RB Pickett Leaves SchoolNews: Justus Pickett (personal) has been granted his release, and will transfer from Maryland to an undetermined school, notes the Washington Post. | 12/10/2012 | LaDarius Perkins, RB, MISSST |

Analysis: LaDarius Perkins had a strong year for Mississippi State, running for 940 yards (5.1 YPC) and eight touchdowns while catching 19 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns. He's a legitimate dual-threat running back and should have a good shot at catching on to an NFL roster, but we can't see the board giving him anything more than a fourth-round grade at the moment, which should make the junior hesitant about declaring. |
| 12/10/2012 | Marcus Lattimore, RB, SC |
Lattimore Will Leave South CarolinaNews: Marcus Lattimore (knee) will enter the 2013 NFL Draft, ESPN's Joe Schad reports. Analysis: Marcus Lattimore might be better known for his injuries than his talent at this point, but with NFL players routinely bouncing back strongly from ACL tears in recent times, there is definitely still a place for Lattimore in the league. Although he might not go until the third or fourth round due to his injuries and the fact that he might miss the 2013 season, Lattimore would have almost certainly graded as the draft's best runner pre-injury and brings clear first-round upside to the table. With that said, Lattimore suffered a season-ending injury to his left knee, believed to be at least an ACL tear, in Oct. of 2011, and then on Oct. 27 of this year he suffered a torn ACL, torn LCL and dislocated knee cap in his right knee. He doesn't wow with his athleticism or power, but Lattimore is very well-rounded as a runner, perhaps most notably possessing rare balance for a running back in the 230-pound range, which allows him to change direction and stop-and-go at a level that's typically only seen in runners much smaller than him. He's also a very good receiver, as he caught 74 passes in 29 games at South Carolina. |
| 12/8/2012 | Eric Osteen, K, ARMY |

Analysis: A new coaching staff for 2013 leaves Tre Mason's value a bit uncertain heading into the offseason, but his strong 2012 season generally gives him the right to head into next year as Auburn's top running back. He showed both explosiveness and dependability this year, averaging nearly six yards per carry while going over the 15-carry mark five times despite not clearly earning the starting role until mid-October or so. |
| 11/28/2012 | Jonathan Wallace, QB, AUBURN |
Wallace the Auburn QB of the Future?News: Jonathan Wallace completed 57.5 percent of his passes while averaging 9.0 yards per attempt as the threw for 720 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions while running for 152 yards (3.0 YPC). Analysis: Jonathan Wallace was not a highly-regarded recruit, but he impressed in practices leading up to this year and did a respectable job of managing a bad situation when he was thrown into the starting lineup late in the year. If a competent coaching staff takes over and supplies him with some surrounding talent, Wallace's dual-threat skills could make him a fantasy factor next year, though many variables will remain up in the air on that front for the foreseeable future. |

Analysis: AJ McCarron's efficiency was jaw-dropping for the most part, but his fantasy value was predictably limited by an Alabama offense that often put away the passing game at halftime, and sometimes earlier. He might have his role expanded a bit in 2013 if he returns to Alabama, but the general theme will be the same. |
| 11/28/2012 | T.J. Yeldon, RB, BAMA |

Michigan Hoping to Keep Gardner for 2014News: Michigan has applied for a medical redshirt for Devin Gardner, who missed most of his freshman year with a back injury, ESPN reports. Analysis: If granted, the medical redshirt would allow Devin Gardner to play in both 2013 and 2014, assuming he wants to stick around for the second year. Coach Brady Hoke expects the NCAA to grant Gardner the extra year, and Gardner's dynasty league owners would be thrilled if Hoke turns out to be right. Gardner looked extremely impressive this year, throwing for 1,005 yards (11.2 YPA), eight touchdowns and four interceptions while running for seven more touchdowns. That's not to mention his 16 catches for 266 yards and four scores. He'll probably be one of the top-ranked fantasy quarterbacks for 2013. |

He'll enter 2013 as the team's likely starting QB and one that should be able to improve upon his 236.5 passing yards per game. His passing touchdowns are almost certain to go up as he finished the season having thrown 17 TDs in his last six games. His ability to run the ball will also serve him well as he's likely to vulture multiple scores from the RBs on his team next season. Up next for Carden and East Carolina is a bowl game. |
| 11/25/2012 | Justin Haig, K, MRSHL |
Marshall's Haig Converts Eight Extra Point Attempts at East CarolinaNews: Justin Haig made a 24 yard field goal and converted eight extra point attempts at East Carolina on Saturday. Analysis: Justin Haig finishes the season having made 13-of-16 field goals and converting all 60 of his extra point attempts. Only a sophomore, he'll enter his junior season in one the most pass heavy offenses in the nation, which will put him in position to make plenty of kicks in 2013. |
| 11/25/2012 | Aaron Dobson, WR, MRSHL |
Marshall's Dobson Scores in Final Game of Career at MarshallNews: Aaron Dobson caught four passes for 61 yards and a touchdown at East Carolina on Saturday. Analysis: Aaron Dobson finishes the season with 57 catches and only three touchdowns, two figures that likely disappointed most fantasy owners in 2012. Analysis: Tommy Shuler finishes the season with an amazing 110 catches for 1,138 yards and six touchdowns. Only a sophomore, he still has his junior and senior season to look forward to with QB Rakeem Cato, who is also a sophomore. Marshall's Taliaferro Goes Over 130 Yards, Scores at East CarolinaNews: Essray Taliaferro rushed for 130 yards on 27 carries with one touchdown and caught three passes for 50 yards at East Carolina on Saturday. Analysis: In only his second game of serious carries, Essray Taliaferro showed he can carry the load for Marshall and potentially be their lead back going into 2013. He a junior in an underclassmen filled backfield, so seeing him emerge the starter in 2013 as a senior is a very real possibility. |
| 11/25/2012 | Blake Frohnapfel, QB, MRSHL |
Marshall's Frohnapfel Goes Over 100 Yards, Scores Two TDs at East CarolinaNews: Blake Frohnapfel threw for 101 yards on 12-of-15 passing with one touchdown and one interception at East Carolina on Saturday. He also rushed for 62 yards on eight carries with a touchdown. Analysis: Blake Frohnapfel replaced starting QB Rakeem Cato, when he went out with a lower leg injury in the fourth quarter. Cato is only a sophomore and was among the national leaders in passing yards per game this season, so it'll likely take a large fall from grace for Frohnapfel to see starting action for Marshall in 2013. |
| 11/25/2012 | Rakeem Cato, QB, MRSHL |
Marshall's Cato Goes Over 300 Yards, Throws Five TDs at East CarolinaNews: Rakeem Cato threw for 318 yards on 31-of-40 passing with five touchdowns and an interception at East Carolina on Saturday. Analysis: Rakeem Cato could've thrown for even more yards, if it hadn't been for a lower leg injury that forced him from the game in the fourth quarter. The severity of his injury is unknown, but he was seen on the sidelines in a brace late in the game as he tried to re-enter the contest. He finishes the regular season as one of the biggest breakout stars of 2012 as threw for the second most TDs in the nation with 37 and led the nation in passing yards per game with 350.1. What's scary is that he's only a sophomore and will have the 2013 season to improve even more. Expect him to be among the most sought after fantasy QBs in 2013 in Marshall's pass heavy offense. |

Moreover, it was the first kickoff return for a touchdown for Rice since 1984. For Eddington, he finishes the season with only one rushing touchdown as he's still firmly behind Charles Ross and Turner Petersen in terms of carries. |
| 11/25/2012 | Charles Ross, RB, RICE |
Rice's Ross Goes Over 150 Yards, Scores Twice at UTEPNews: Charles Ross rushed for 154 yards on 23 carries with two touchdowns at UTEP on Saturday. Analysis: Charles Ross finishes the season as Rice's leading rusher, but with only four rushing touchdowns to show for it as QB Taylor McHargue often vultured his goal line touches. He's only a junior, so he still has one more season to go at Rice. Next season he'll need to up his yards per carry, if he hopes to be the lead back, ahead of Turner Petersen, who he split time with this season. |
| 11/25/2012 | Taylor McHargue, QB, RICE |
Rice's McHargue Helps Team Get Bowl Eligible with Win Over UTEPNews: Taylor McHargue threw for 207 yards on 21-of-30 passing and rushed for 17 yards on 15 carries at UTEP on Saturday.
