Chris Givens thinking about NFL

News: Wake Forest wide receiver Chris Givens said he is "thinking about it," when asked about entering the NFL Draft a year early.

Analysis: It would make sense to strike while the iron is hot, as Givens is coming off a career-high 1,276 yards and nine touchdowns. Givens said he might have a decision prior to the Deacons' bowl game against Mississippi State December 30th. Wake Forest has only had one player in school history depart early, and the guess here is that Givens will make that number double.

Allen: Please let the Longhorn DBs play man-to-man

News: California star receiver Keenan Allen said he hopes Holiday Bowl opponent Texas plays man-to-man against the Golden Bear receivers. Allen said he didn't think the Longhorns could handle Cal's receiving stable man-to-man.

Analysis: Allen could be right with himself and Marvin Jones leading the way, along with some very nice third and fourth options. No doubt the Texas secondary will have those quotes posted on their lockerroom wall, though Allen could be right -- a lot of man-to-man could spell a big day for Allen and Co.

News: Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon says that he plans to declare for the NFL Draft.

Analysis: Blackmon is likely a first-rounder and there is nothing more he can do to help his stock, so this is a good move for the talented pass catcher. It will be a shame to see him leave the fantasy landscape but the Cowboys have pumped out stud receivers for years.

Theo Riddick could stay at RB

News: Notre Dame's Theo Riddick came to campus as a running back, was moved to wide receiver, and is now back at running back for the team's bowl game against Florida State. Head coach Brian Kelly didn't want to commit to leaving him at running back but said that "he looks comfortable at running back right now."

Analysis: Riddick is a dynamic playmaker who runs hard and will help the Irish no matter where he is lined up. With Michael Floyd off to the NFL, Riddick may have some legitimate fantasy stock next season.

	WR Edwards wins C-USA Offensive Player of the Year News: Houston wide receiver Patrick Edwards was named the Conference USA offensive player of the year. Analysis: Edwards had a remarkable season which included 18 touchdown receptions and over 1,500 yards. He truly deserved the award.

Purdue suspends O.J. Ross

News: Purdue wide receiver O.J. Ross has been suspended for a violation of team rules and it is uncertain if he will play in the Boilermakers' bowl game against Western Michigan.

Analysis: Ross is one of just a few four-star recruits on the roster and was expected to make much more of a contribution this year. Even if he is unable to go, the Boiler offense should be just fine.

	Marshall back in bowl form News: Marshall will return to bowl season as they take on FIU in the Beef O Brady's Bowl. Analysis: Despite their return to bowl action, it will be tough for any of the Marshall starters, ie Rakeem Cato, Travon Van and even Aaron Dobson being fantasy worthy against a stingy FIU defense.

	WR duo Edwards & Carrier struggle in loss News: Tyron Carrier and Patrick Edwards COMBINED for nine catches and 69 yards in the Houston loss to USM. Analysis: That is reason number one they lost. Carrier had a game changing drop which would have been a long touchdown and probably changed the momentum. With a tough matchup against PSU, neither are options in bowl pools.

	WR Justin Johnson catches 12 in loss News: Houston receiver Justin Johnson caught 12 passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns in the team's loss to USM. Analysis: Johnson has a tough matchup against PSU in their bowl game and cannot be trusted in bowl pools.

	USM WR duo produces in big win News: Dominique Sullivan and Ryan Balentine both caught touchdowns for Southern Miss in their blowout win over Houston. Analysis: Both are solid threats but the ball is spread too much for them to have much value in bowl pools.

	Tracy Lampley goes off on Houston News: Tracy Lampley exploded on Houston, catching two touchdowns while totaling close to 200 yards. Analysis: Lampley was the most explosive player on the field and is a solid bet for fantasy production in 2012.

Tommy Streeter going pro

News: Though no official announcement has been made, reports are beginning to circulate that Miami wide receiver Tommy Streeter will leave school for the NFL.

Analysis: Reading the source here, it seems like agent Drew Rosenhaus is in one ear, and head coach Al Golden is in the other. Streeter certainly looks like an NFL receiver, but only has a 12 game sample to offer. It'd a pretty big blow to a Hurricane receiving corp that also loses Travis Benjamin and LaRon Byrd. Allen Hurns and Phillip Dorsett figure to open spring atop the depth chart, and the 'Canes currently have four verbally committed pass catchers.

D.J. Coles shows us a glimpse

News: Virginia Tech wide receiver D.J. Coles erupted for seven catches, 116 yards and a touchdown in the ACC Championship against Clemson.

Analysis: Coles is a name to file away. Jarrett Boykin and Danny Coale graduate, and Marcus Davis has been an enigma. 2012 figures to be a breakout season for one of these two wideouts, and I think Coles will be worth a gamble.

Clemson finds their offense

News: Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd led the way for the Tigers against Virginia Tech, accounting for 268 total yards and four touchdowns.

Analysis: He wasn't picked off after tossing seven in his previous four games. RB Andre Ellington added 125 yards and a score on the ground, and freshman sensation wideout Sammy Watkins scored and added 135 total yards. The Tigers will head to the Orange Bowl, likely against West Virginia, in a game that will feature two spread offenses, and likely be one you'll want to load up on for your bowl challenge.

Da'Rick Rogers suspended?

News: Multiple sources are beginning to report that Tennessee wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers is "not part of the team."

Analysis: Go Vols Xtra will only go as far as saying that Rogers is receiving treatment similar to what former safety Janzen Jackson got, while WVLT hears it's a suspension through spring practice. 'Tis the season for rumors my friends. Dynasty owners of Rogers should officially be worried, but that's the only conclussion we'll draw as of yet.

Report: Mike Leach sailing to Pullman

News: It has been reported that former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach will be the next coach for Washington State.

Analysis: This seems like a solid hire for the Cougars for a couple of reasons. First of all, the pieces are already in place for Leach's style of offense with Jeff Tuel, Connor Halliday, and Marquess Wilson back for next year. Secondly, he will certainly be able to sell some tickets. Lastly, the expectations in Pullman are not very high so as long as he gets them to consistent bowl games and can win the occasional Apple Cup, everyone will be happy.

Malcolm Mitchell nursing hamstring injury

News: Georgia may be without their top deep threat as they square off in the SEC title game against LSU, as Malcolm Mitchell is dealing with a hamstring injury.

Analysis: Mitchell is listed as questionable, but you have to imagine that if he can go, he will. If he is unable to go, the Bulldogs have several options like Chris Conley and Orson Charles and a great quarterback in Aaron Murray to deliver them the ball.

Alshon Jeffery has hand surgery

News: South Carolina wide receiver Alshon Jeffery had a minor hand surgery to repair a broken bone suffered against Clemson, but is expected to be ready for the team's bowl game.

Analysis: Jeffery has not been nearly as effective his junior year as the two previous years so, although he is a likely high draft pick by the NFL, he is not worth playing during bowl season.

News: Texas quarterback Case McCoy is no longer listed as a co-starter with David Ash - it's now McCoy alone at the top. Also, wide receiver Mike Davis is listed as a backup to Miles Onyegbule.

Analysis: Nothing groundbreaking with the McCoy news, but it's interesting to see Davis, who was expected to be the number one guy this season at receiver, drop to second string.

News: Stanford freshman receiver Ty Montgomery was a major player in the win over Notre Dame, catching six passes for 77 yards and a score.

Analysis: Montgomery has come on to be a major factor in the passing game the last half of the season. It appears that Montgomery and Griff Whalen will give Stanford's next quarterback -- should Luck leave -- a nice, productive one-two punch at receiver.

	WR Douglas snags nine for Wildcats News: Arizona receiver David Douglas had another good outing with nine catches for 69 yards and a score Saturday. Analysis: Douglas doesn't do this consistently, but he's proven to be a very nice possession receiver for quarterback Nick Foles and has had more than a few high catch games this year.

WR Criner sets Arizona TD receptions mark

News: Arizona receiver Juron Criner established a new program record for touchdown receptions with 32. Criner had nine catches for 129 yards and two scores in the win over Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday.

Analysis: It has been a strange trip for one of the nation's best receivers entering the 2011 season. Family issues before the season, an appendectomy early in the campaign and then assorted other nagging injuries. Although he disappeared for periods this year, he's as good as it gets in the Pac-12.

	Rueben Randle scorches Hogs secondary News: LSU wide receiver Rueben Randle registered a season-high 134 yards against Arkansas as the Tigers downed the Hogs handily. Analysis: Randle is not going to put up gaudy statistics but does find a way to get open and get deep for LSU, which makes him a decent WR3 depending on the match up.

	Quinton Dunbar registers team's lone score News: In what can only be deemed a dark day for the Florida offense, the one redeeming light was that of receiver Quinton Dunbar who had 40 yards receiving and a touchdown against Florida State. Analysis: Dunbar is one of the team's most talented vertical threats so it will be interesting to see what he can do with improved quarterback play.

News: Vanderbilt wide receiver Jordan Matthews has been one of the most consistent receivers in the latter half of the season. He continued his steady production against Wake Forest with 79 yards and a touchdown.

Analysis: With the effectiveness of the Commodore rushing attack, Matthews is often dealing with single coverage which he has no problem beating.

	WR Roark leads UK to win... at QB News: Kentucky beat Tennessee for the first time since 1984, but it wasn't Maxwell Smith at quarterback. Or Morgan Newton. Wide receiver Matt Roark took snaps behind center and finished with 124 yards rushing and just 15 passing yards. Analysis: Roark finished his senior season in a big way after being carried off the field by his teammates.

Ward has record-setting game in loss

News: Texas Tech wide receiver Eric Ward set a team record with 16 catches and had 151 yards and two touchdowns total in the team's loss to Baylor. Darrin Moore also added two scores and Adam James topped 100 yards for the Red Raiders.

Analysis: It was a huge day for the Red Raider receiving corps, but the defense has been abysmal all season and cost the team any shot at winning this one.

News: Baylor wide receiver Kendall Wright showed why he deserved to be a Biletnikoff finalist with his performance in Saturday's win over Texas Tech, catching six passes for 125 yards and two scores.

Analysis: It seems as though Ryan Broyles earning a finalist position over Wright was based more off of reputation since he has been out for the season for a couple weeks now, but Wright's performance continues to fly under the radar.

	Kearse snags five in win over WSU News: Washington receiver Jermaine Kearse caught five passes for 62 yards Saturday in the win over Washington State. Analysis: Kearse was a bit overshadowed by freshman Kasen Williams, but certainly had a couple of good moments in this one. He's a quality receiver who hasn't had quite the big year many thought he'd have in 2011.

News: A big game, another big outing for Washington State receiver Jared Karstetter, who sliced up Washington's defense to the tune of nine catches for 82 yards and a score in the loss to Washington.

Analysis: Karstetter was missing for most of the middle part of the season when the Cougars were struggling with their quarterback situation. With quarterback Marshall Lobbestael having a big game, Karstetter demonstrated his chain-moving ability.

Kauth catches three scores for Air Force

News: Three catches, three scores -- that was Air Force receiver Zach Kauth's afternoon Saturday in the win over Colorado State. Kauth caught touchdown passes of 33, 40 and 50 yards in the second quarter from quarterback Tim Jefferson.

Analysis: Obviously a bit of an aberration for the Air Force offense, but a huge load of fun for Kauth. Nice to see that Jefferson can still throw it and he's got a receiver who can turn catches into scores.

	Miller leads Boise with four catches News: Boise State receiver Matt Miller led the team with four catches for 66 yards and a touchdown that bounced off several hands before falling to him as he lay on the goal line. Analysis: As always, you never know who will be the top target for quarterback Kellen Moore. In the win over Wyoming, Miller was that guy.

Coleman has career day in Rutgers loss

News: Rutgers wide receiver Brandon Coleman had the best game of his career on Saturday, catching six passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns in a 40-22 loss at Connecticut. Mohamed Sanu added nine receptions for 133 yards, finishing his season with 109 receptions.

Analysis: Whether or not Sanu enters the NFL Draft will have a lot to do with who gets a good number of targets next season, but you'd have to think that Coleman is one of those primary options. There's still a bowl game to be played as well.

Beavers Rodgers didn't play today

News: Oregon State receiver James Rodgers did not play in today's Civil War game against Oregon. Rodgers warmed up, but coudn't push off the sore ankle, so the decision was made that he will not play.

Analysis: A big loss for the Beavers, though a gimpy Rodgers might not have been much of a factor other than something else for the Duck defense to worry about.

WR Robinson held in check in loss to Cal

News: Arizona State's big play receiver, Gerell Robinson, had a few moments in Friday's game, but overall wasn't a huge part of the game plan. Robinson had three catches for 56 yards and didn't find the end zone.

Analysis: We'd hoped for a little more from Robinson after the last several weeks. He had developed into the go-to guy for quarterback Brock Osweiler of late, but wasn't targeted much in this one.

ASU receivers do some damage in loss

News: Arizona State receivers Aaron Pflugrad and Rashad Ross each got into the end zone Friday against California. Ross led the Sun Devils with five catches for 108 yards while Pflugrad had two catches for 33 yards.

Analysis: Quarterback Brock Osweiler missed both of these guys with big plays throws several times, which was unfortunate. Still, Ross has been a nice revelation of late and Pflugrad, who doesn't get the ball nearly enough, came through with a clutch catch when ASU needed it.

Austin, Bailey productive in win

News: West Virginia wide receivers Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey continued their move up the school record books. Austin caught 10 passes for 102 yards and Bailey caught three for 80 yards and a score in the Mountaineers' 21-20 win over Pittsburgh.

Analysis: Austin adds value with his special teams play, and Bailey has proven to be a good fantasy option as well.

Parker, Rogers productive in win

News: Louisville wide receivers Eli Rogers and DeVante Parker both played well in the Cardinals' 34-24 win over USF. Rogers caught four passes for 84 yards while Parker caught three passes for 42 yards and two touchdowns.

Analysis: Outside of tight end Josh Chichester and wide receiver Josh Bellamy, the Cardinals will return all the key components of their passing game. The upcoming bowl game (and practices) should serve as a springboard for this young team.

Clemons cracks 100 yards receiving

News: Colorado receiver Toney Clemons didn't make it into the end zone Friday, but he still lead the Buffs in receiving with four catches for 102 yards in the win over Utah.

Analysis: With Paul Richardson struggling after coming back from a knee sprain, Clemons has stepped up and been the big play receiver the coaching staff had hoped he'd be when the season started. Another good game for the former Michigan transfer.

VanTubbergen proves it's the system

News: Filling in for the injured Alex Carder (shoulder), Western Michigan quarterback Tyler VanTubbergen threw for 252 yards and six touchdowns, and added another score and 60 yards on the ground.

Analysis: I guess when Jordan White is your receiver (7-138-2), it doesn't matter who's throwing. Carder should be fine should the Broncos play in a bowl, and is just a junior, but assuming there isn't a regime change, VanTubbergen is a name to remember down the line.

Eric Page hauls in monsterous 16 passes

News: Toledo wide receiver Eric Page closed out the regular season in style against Ball State, snagging 16 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown.

Analysis: We'll blame Page's overall lack of consistency on the quarterback rotation here, but it's his third consecutive 1,100-yard season, and he scored seven, eight and nine times in his three seasons, respectively. There's no reason you shouldn't take him in your bowl challenge, or make him a top wide receiver selection in 2012.

Shipley plays, vital in last-second victory

News: Texas wide receiver Jaxon Shipley was questionable to play all week long against Texas A&M, but he played a big role in the team's win by throwing a 41-yard touchdown pass and also reeling in three catches for 34 yards.

Analysis: The Longhorns' instability at quarterback this season led to little production value both at quarterback and at wide receiver for Texas, but Shipley will be a force in the coming years in Austin.

Fuller makes impact in last home game

News: Texas A&M wide receiver Jeff Fuller wanted to make his final game at Kyle Field count and he caught seven passes for 107 yards and a touchdown in the loss to Texas. Meanwhile, top target Ryan Swope was held in check, only catching three balls for 33 yards.

Analysis: Fuller has dealt with injuries all year long, so it was nice to see him have such an impact in what could be the last game the Aggies play against the Longhorns in quite some time.

Woods, Lee top WR duo

News: USC receivers Robert Woods and Marqise Lee have become the nation's top receiver duo with 2,098 yards through 11 games. They are also tops in combined scores with 22 touchdowns.

Analysis: Lee has been phenomenal as a freshman and been a very welcome bookend to Woods, who started the year on fire, but has been dealing with some nagging injuries of late. Woods was limited in practice this week, but should be ready to go against UCLA

News: California receiver Jackson Bouza got his first two catches of the season last week against Stanford and quarterback Zach Maynard said the youngster has really come on.

Analysis: Bouza missed the first month of the season with a broken finger, but has consistently demonstrated the ability to get separation from defensive backs. It's been a struggle to get back up to speed after missing that much time.

WR Harris will miss last two games

News: Texas wide receiver John Harris, who has been out since September with a broken foot, will miss the final two regular season games but could still return for the bowl game, this according to head coach Mack Brown.

Analysis: Harris, a redshirt freshman, started early in the year for the Longhorns, but this injury has kept him sidelined for awhile. He is still someone with a lot of upside and could blossom into a nice player for Texas in the future.

Ronnie Tyler won't play at NCST

News: Maryland wide receiver Ronnie Tyler (academics) won't make the trip to Raleigh this weekend, according to head coach Randy Edsall.

Analysis: His absence should give teammates Kevin Dorsey and Quintin McCree more looks. Both of those have been reasonably productive, and I'd expect one of them to have a solid 70-90 yards and a score. I just don't know which one.

"No way" Stephen Hill sits against UGA

News: Georgia Tech wide receiver Stephen Hill (back) didn't practice Tuesday, but is expected to do so Wednesday as he prepares to play in-state rival Georgia.

Analysis: Hill seems pretty jazzed about playing the Bulldogs, so expect him to see his normal deep ball opportunities. He's always risky, but he can always go 2-110-2 as well. How lucky are you feeling Saturday?

Owusu's concussion will keep him out again

News: Stanford receiver Chris Owusu will not play this weekend against Notre Dame due to the lingering effects of a concussion. The team's second-leading receiver (35-376) could be cleared to play in the team's bowl game, however, according to coach David Shaw.

Analysis: Owusu just can't shake the injury bug. As you can tell by his receiving yardage, he's not been the big play weapon the coaching staff imagined he would be this season. It's been a tough 2011 for Owusu.

Keith Mumphery a Spartan WR to watch?

News: Michigan State will lose plenty of receptions and touchdowns when B.J. Cunningham and Keshawn Martin move on, however names to watch for 2012 appear to be redshirt freshman Keith Mumphery and true freshie Andre Sims.

Analysis: In addition to Joe Rexrode at the Lansing State Journal, there have been rumblings out of practice that Mumphery is ready to make a move next year. And Sims, a burner out of Georgia, may possess the ability as a "playmaker" in the Martin mold.

	Darius Hanks back at practice News: Alabama wide receiver Darius Hanks has returned to practice after being held out with an ankle injury. Analysis: When the Tide face Auburn in the Iron Bowl this weekend, they will need all of their targets on the field for A.J. McCarron, so Hanks' return is a welcome one.

	D.D. Kyles, Malcolm Beyah miss ASU game News: Middle Tennessee was without two of their top players against Arkansas State as running back D.D. Analysis: With all the quarterback woes, the Blue Raiders really need Beyah and Kyles back to help out whoever is taking the snaps.

	Dwayne Frampton good to go against Troy News: After collecting 10 receptions against Middle Tennessee, Arkansas State receiver Dwayne Frampton got a bit dinged up but will be ready to go against Troy. Analysis: Frampton is not the biggest guy but is thickly built and will be needed against Troy if the Red Wolves are going to win the conference outright.

	Waiver Wire Alert: WR Reese Wiggins News: With injuries to Danny Webster and Lance Lewis, Reese Wiggins, who caught two touchdowns last weekend, is suddenly a solid option this week against Marshall. Analysis: One of Wiggins' touchdowns was an 84-yard score so he has big play ability. Add him if you need a wideout for your title game.

News: Oregon State receiver Markus Wheaton led the Beavers in both rushing and receiving Saturday. Wheaton had three carries for 66 yards and caught seven passes for 125 yards.

Analysis: The only blemish for Wheaton was that he wasn't able to get into the end zone. It's clear that Wheaton is now the Beavers main gun and that getting the ball in his hands has become a priority.

	Rosario leads Bruins Wr's with 6 catches News: UCLA receiver Nelson Rosario was a key receiving component Saturday, catching six passes for 102 yards in the win over Colorado. Analysis: Rosario did a great job of getting open Saturday against Colorado's patchwork secondary. He's a quality receiver who, when the quarterback play is solid, is a very productive receiver.

	Frosh WR Ratliff has big day in loss News: Washington State freshman receiver Bobby Ratliff had a big game Saturday, catching four passes for 97 yards and a score. Analysis: A nice performance from a player who hasn't done much this season. Perhaps a reminder that there will be quality receivers running around the Palouse next year, too.

	Christopher re-emerges with five catches, 83 yards News: Utah receiver DeVonte Christopher got back in the groove Saturday, collecting five catches for 83 yards in the win over Washington State. Analysis: Christopher has been somewhat quiet after coming back from injury, but in the cold and snowy conditions of the Palouse, he came through with key catches.

	Crump snags six, key score in fourth Qtr News: Arizona receiver Gino Crump continues his productive play, catching six passes for 69 yards and a key fourth quarter touchdown in the win over Arizona State. Analysis: Crump has proven yet again that he's become a favorite target of quarterback Nick Foles. He was incredibly valuable in Saturday's win.

	Cooper, Blackmon and Moore each have a TD News: Oklahoma State wide receivers Josh Cooper (128 yards), Justin Blackmon (99 yards) and Tracy Moore (96 yards) each scored a touchdown in the loss to Iowa State on Friday. Analysis: These are the games fantasy owners expected Cooper to have more of, and Blackmon just barely missed out on another 100-yard performance.

News: All season Troy receiver Eric Thomas has been the team's top target, but because of Corey Robinson's ability to distribute the ball, he has never put up gaudy numbers until this weekend. Against Florida Atlantic, Thomas had six catches for 128 yards and two touchdowns.

Analysis: I would not expect this type of performance next week against Arkansas State so look for another starting option.

News: Connecticut wide receiver Kashif Moore was the Huskies' most productive player on Saturday, scoring two touchdowns in the 34-20 loss to Louisville. Moore caught seven passes for 110 yards and a score while also rushing for 11 yards and another score on two carries.

Analysis: Moore's been one of the top players for UConn this season, but due to the poor play at quarterback fantasy points have been left on the table so to speak.

	Beavers Bishop fractures foot in warmups News: Oregon State slot receiver Jordan Bishop fractured his foot during warmups today and didn't suit up for the game against Washington. Analysis: Bishop has shown ability when he's been healthy, but hasn't been healthy a lot this season. He's been plagued with foot issues and this seems to be the final blow.

News: Central Michigan wide receiver Titus Davis caught five balls for 64 yards and two touchdowns against Toledo.

Analysis: Davis had consecutive 100+ yard games coming in to Friday night, and while the yardage may not have been tremendous, he did score twice for the third straight game. He's been a tremendous late season find, but the Chips' season is over, so you'll get no help from Davis in Championship Week. He's a nice 2012 keeper however.

Analysis: James had come on in the middle part of the season before picking up the ankle injury. He's a nice weapon to get back for young quarterback Nick Montana.

News: Auburn gets a nice tune up game this weekend against Samford, but that does not mean that Michael Dyer will still not get in a full day's work. The team's top offensive weapon will be sure to get his numbers while receiver Emory Blake should get deep a few times.

Analysis: I would not start Moseley, but Dyer and Blake should both reach the 100-yard mark and the end zone at least once.
