| 12/12/2011 | Russell Wilson, QB, WISC |

| 12/12/2011 | Chris Nwoke, RB, COLOST |
Colorado State expected to hire Jim McElwainNews: Tomorrow when Colorado State announces their new head coach, it is expected to be Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain. Analysis: McElwain is familiar with the area as he coached at Fresno State before heading to Tuscaloosa. McElwain inherits a talented quarterback in Pete Thomas and a workhorse back in Chris Nwoke so he should be able to do some work on offense. |

| 12/12/2011 | David Wilson, RB, VATECH |
David Wilson torn on NFL decisionNews: Virginia Tech running back David Wilson seems legitimately torn regarding his future in Blacksburg. Analysis: “I definitely want to come back. College football is real fun. At the same time, the NFL is a lifetime dream. It’s like a real hard decision. If [you forced me to choose] right now and said, ‘Pick one,’ I would still stutter and be like, ‘Uh, I really don’t know," said Wilson. Lots of VT folks feel like Wilson will return for another season, but I still won't believe it until I see it. It's not a deep year for rushers, and Wilson could be the second running back taken behind Alabama's Trent Richardson. Virginia Tech DB Jayron Hosley isn't waivering over his decision, and the Sugar Bowl will be his final as an amateur. |
| 12/11/2011 | Bert Reed, WR, FSU |
Bert Reed likely out for bowl gameNews: Florida State receiver Bert Reed injured his hamstring during Friday's practice and is likely out for the team's bowl match up against Notre Dame. Analysis: Reed is out of eligibility after this season so it is a shame that it had to end like this. |
| 12/11/2011 | Michael Dyer, RB, AUBURN |
Michael Dyer suspended for bowl gameNews: Auburn running back Michael Dyer has been suspended for the bowl game against Virginia for a violation of team rules. Analysis: This is a huge blow against the Tigers as Dyer has been the team's workhorse as they continue to work through their quarterbacking issues. | 12/11/2011 | Chris Givens, WR, WAKE |
Chris Givens thinking about NFLNews: Wake Forest wide receiver Chris Givens said he is "thinking about it," when asked about entering the NFL Draft a year early. Analysis: It would make sense to strike while the iron is hot, as Givens is coming off a career-high 1,276 yards and nine touchdowns. Givens said he might have a decision prior to the Deacons' bowl game against Mississippi State December 30th. Wake Forest has only had one player in school history depart early, and the guess here is that Givens will make that number double. |
| 12/10/2011 | Brandon Williams, RB, OKLA |
OU to be without Reynolds, Williams for bowlNews: When Oklahoma takes on Iowa in the Insight Bowl they will be without wide receiver Jaz Reynolds and running back Brandon Williams. | 12/10/2011 | Jake Heaps, QB, BYU |
Heaps likely to look at Pac-12 optionsNews: With former BYU starting quarterback Jake Heaps announcing his transfer, the Pac-12 could very well be a place he lands. The former Skyline High School (Wash.) product has been linked with Washington, Washington State, USC and California. Analysis: There are plenty of schools that would love to have a chance to develop Heaps' skill set and being from the West Coast, it makes sense that he would be looking at the Pac-12 as a potential destination. |
| 12/10/2011 | LaMichael James, RB, OREG |
Oregon RB James named to Camp AA teamNews: Oregon running back LaMichael James didn't repeat as the Doak Walker winner, but was named to the Walter Camp All-American team. | 12/10/2011 | Keenan Allen, WR, CAL |
Allen: Please let the Longhorn DBs play man-to-manNews: California star receiver Keenan Allen said he hopes Holiday Bowl opponent Texas plays man-to-man against the Golden Bear receivers. Allen said he didn't think the Longhorns could handle Cal's receiving stable man-to-man. Analysis: Allen could be right with himself and Marvin Jones leading the way, along with some very nice third and fourth options. No doubt the Texas secondary will have those quotes posted on their lockerroom wall, though Allen could be right -- a lot of man-to-man could spell a big day for Allen and Co. |
| 12/10/2011 | Isi Sofele, RB, CAL |
Sofele getting vital rest before bowl gameNews: A month between the end of the regular season and California's Holiday Bowl game against Texas will provide California's Isi Sofele with time to heal. Sofele, who isn't a big running back, but a back that gets a lot of touches, has missed some practices as he heals up. Analysis: Sofele really was a revelation in 2011 and should be considered one of the Pac-12's better and more productive backs. But he's not a big guy, so the rest leading up to the bowl game will benefit him greatly heading into the Holiday Bowl. |
| 12/10/2011 | Zach Maynard, QB, CAL |

| 12/10/2011 | Brock Osweiler, QB, ARIZST |
Osweiler concerned with coaching searchNews: With the Arizona State head coaching position seemingly struggling to get filled, quarterback Brock Osweiler recently expressed some worry about the process. Analysis: Osweiler admitted that who will be his coach next year is weighing on him a bit and that it has become nearly impossible to not be drug into the fray. Given Osweiler's considerable talent and very good 2011 season, he should be concerned about who will be the coach and what offense he'll be called upon to run. |
| 12/10/2011 | Terrance Owens, QB, TOLEDO |
Beckman says he could use 2 QBsNews: Much like he did with Austin Dantin and Terrence Owens at Toledo, Illinois head coach Tim Beckman says that he will consider using both Reilly O'Toole and Nathan Scheelhaase at quarterback. Analysis: While it worked for the Rockets, it was incredibly frustrating from a fantasy standpoint so let's just hope he sticks with one. |
| 12/10/2011 | Arizona State, DST, AZST |

A report today indicates that Jim Leavitt is no longer a candidate for the head coaching job. | 12/10/2011 | Jordan Webb, QB, KANSAS |
Kansas already offered Crist a scholarshipNews: Despite just having visited the campus this Saturday, quarterback Dayne Crist has already been offered a scholarship at Kansas. Analysis: It makes sense that Crist could follow Charlie Weis to Lawrence. But even if he does go there, he will have to beat out Jordan Webb for the starting job. |
| 12/10/2011 | Taylor Graham, QB, OHIOST |
Buckeyes' Graham to transferNews: With the coming of Urban Meyer and his new offense, quarterback Taylor Graham has decided to transfer from Ohio State. Analysis: Graham is more of a passer and would likely never see the field under the new head coach, so he is off to greener pastures. |
| 12/10/2011 | Tyler Russell, QB, MISSST |
Dylan Favre to transfer from MSUNews: Quarterback Dylan Favre has decided to transfer from Mississippi State. Analysis: Favre would have been in the thick of a quarterback battle this spring with Tyler Russell but it is no secret that Favre has been upset with his lack of playing time while in Starkville. |
| 12/9/2011 | Adonis Thomas, RB, TOLEDO |
Illinois hires Tim BeckmanNews: Illinois has hired Tim Beckman as their next head football coach. Beckman was 21-16 in the last three seasons at Toledo. Analysis: Beckman will not coach the Rockets in the Millitary Bowl against Air Force. And interim head coach Vic Koening is expected to coach the Illini in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl against UCLA. |
| 12/9/2011 | Rex Burkhead, RB, NEB |
Rex Burkhead getting healthyNews: Nebraska running back Rex Burkhead sat out practice on Thursday while nursing an ankle injury. But he is looking to return next week as the Huskers prepare to take on South Carolina in the Capital One Bowl. Analysis: Burkhead is pivotal to the success of the Cornhuskers' against the stingy Gamecocks' defense, so you had better believe they will take things slow with him. |
| 12/8/2011 | Lafonte Thourogood, QB, VANDY |
Lafonte Thourogood moving to RBNews: Vanderbilt freshman Lafonte Thourogood is moving from quarterback to running back, according to head coach James Franklin. Analysis: Thourogood, who is redshirting, chose Vandy over Virginia Tech on signing day last season, and at 6-foot-3, 225 pounds, is going to be a load in the backfield. With the emergence of Jordan Rodgers, the presence of Wyoming transfer Austin-Carta Samuels, and two additional freshman, Thourogood saw an opportunity to get on the field more quickly at a different position. |
| 12/8/2011 | Mike Bellamy, RB, CLEM |
Update: Mike Bellamy suspended indefinitelyNews: Clemson freshman running back Mike Bellamy's suspension is now being deemed indefinite by head coach Dabo Swinney. Analysis: Bellamy was sent home from the ACC Championship game, and it's pretty evident that he won't play in the Orange Bowl either. Beyond this season, I'll let you form your own opinions, but it's certainly fair to wonder if Bellamy's career as a Tiger is already finished. |
| 12/8/2011 | Vad Lee, QB, GATECH |
Vad Lee transfer whispers?News: When questioned about freshman quarerback Vad Lee, Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson was particularly vague regarding the youngster's future. Analysis: You can read the AJC for the particlar quotes. It's worth noting that beat writer Ken Sugiura doesn't think there is much to see here, but the minor speculation was printed nonetheless. It's hard to see Lee leaving an offense he is perfectly designed to run, but stranger things have happened. It's one of many interesting stories to track through the winter. |
| 12/8/2011 | Tevin Washington, QB, GATECH |
Synjyn Days will get Sun Bowl snapsNews: Georgia Tech backup quarterback Synjyn Days looks like he will see more meaningful snaps during the Sun Bowl against Utah, according to head coach Paul Johnson. Analysis: "I've been wanting to play him some, and it just kind of presented itself. If he continues to work hard, we need to get him in the game some," said Johnson. Not the news Tevin Washington dynasty owners wanted to hear. These whispers, coupled with the 'Jackets typical struggles in bowl games as defenses have ample time to prepare for the option, are more than enough to leave Washington alone in bowl challenges. |
| 12/7/2011 | Robert Turbin, RB, UTAHST |
Robert Turbin thinking about NFL DraftNews: Utah State junior running back Robert Turbin is considering leaving school early in order to give the NFL Draft a whirl. Analysis: Turbin with throw his name in the hopper to receive a draft grade, and then a decision will be reached. |
| 12/7/2011 | Justin Blackmon, WR, OKLAST |
Justin Blackmon declaring for NFL DraftNews: Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon says that he plans to declare for the NFL Draft. Analysis: Blackmon is likely a first-rounder and there is nothing more he can do to help his stock, so this is a good move for the talented pass catcher. It will be a shame to see him leave the fantasy landscape but the Cowboys have pumped out stud receivers for years. |
| 12/7/2011 | Theo Riddick, WR, ND |
Theo Riddick could stay at RBNews: Notre Dame's Theo Riddick came to campus as a running back, was moved to wide receiver, and is now back at running back for the team's bowl game against Florida State. Head coach Brian Kelly didn't want to commit to leaving him at running back but said that "he looks comfortable at running back right now." Analysis: Riddick is a dynamic playmaker who runs hard and will help the Irish no matter where he is lined up. With Michael Floyd off to the NFL, Riddick may have some legitimate fantasy stock next season. |
| 12/7/2011 | Deantre Lewis, RB, ARIZST |
Report: Junes Jones to coach Arizona StateNews: With Dennis Erickson out as head coach of Arizona State, his replacement will be SMU head coach June Jones according to several sources. Analysis: The pieces are already in place for Jones to run his offense so expect even more production from Brock Osweiler, Jamal Miles, and Deantre Lewis. |
| 12/7/2011 | Pat Edwards, WR, HOU |
WR Edwards wins C-USA Offensive Player of the YearNews: Houston wide receiver Patrick Edwards was named the Conference USA offensive player of the year. Analysis: Edwards had a remarkable season which included 18 touchdown receptions and over 1,500 yards. He truly deserved the award. |
| 12/7/2011 | Case Keenum, QB, HOU |
QB Keenum named C-USA MVPNews: Case Keenum was named the C-USA conference MVP on Wednesday. Analysis: Well deserved as Keenum led Houston to a perfect regular season and into a high profile bowl game against Penn State. |
| 12/7/2011 | Montee Ball, RB, WISC |
Montee Ball seeks draft grade, stock on the riseNews: Wisconsin junior running back Montee Ball is considering leaving school early and will seek a draft grade from the NFL Draft Advisory Board. "Obviously I'd love to hear first round," Ball said. "I'd love to hear even late second round. But third or fourth and I'd most likely stay." Analysis: Ball's stock is on the rise and some experts have him as a late first round pick. At this point it would be a surprise if Ball decides to return. |
| 12/7/2011 | Danny O'Brien, QB, MD |
Three more Terps leave, offseason total at 6News: Maryland has granted redshirt freshmen running backs Rahsaan Moore and Jeremiah Wilson, along with defensive back Titus Till, their release and all three will transfer to another school Analysis: That brings the total to six players leaving College Park, after starting offensive lineman R.J. Dill announced his departure yesterday. Head coach Randy Edsall's "my way or the highway" approach looks to be backfiring, and it's going to be a lengthy rebuilding process for Maryland. No word yet as to quarterback Danny O'Brien's intentions. |
| 12/6/2011 | O.J. Ross, WR, PURDUE |
Purdue suspends O.J. RossNews: Purdue wide receiver O.J. Ross has been suspended for a violation of team rules and it is uncertain if he will play in the Boilermakers' bowl game against Western Michigan. Analysis: Ross is one of just a few four-star recruits on the roster and was expected to make much more of a contribution this year. Even if he is unable to go, the Boiler offense should be just fine. |
| 12/6/2011 | Munchie Legaux, QB, CINCY |
Zach Collaros could play in Liberty BowlNews: Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros (broken ankle) is off crutches and there is a chance he could play in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. "That is still a possibility that he'll play in the bowl game," Coach Butch Jones said. "He's taken tremendous strides in the rehabilitation effort. He's about two weeks ahead of schedule. He's walking already. We're hoping that by as soon as next week he may be able to start throwing and doing his drops (to pass) and participating in practice." Analysis: You can bet the senior Collaros is doing everything he can to play in one more game as a Bearcat. Munchie Legaux has started the last four games and would start if Collaros is not ready. |
| 12/6/2011 | Andrew Luck, QB, STNFRD |
Luck says he's ready to go proNews: Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck said he is "absolutely' ready to go to the NFL after this season. Luck, who could have been the No. 1 pick in last year's NFL Draft, is projected to be the top selection this season after returning for his redshirt junior season. Analysis: Even though he could return for a final season, Luck said he didn't think there needed to be a formal announcement that he would head to the NFL after this year's Fiesta Bowl. He finished up his degree and has nothing left to accomplish at this level. |
| 12/5/2011 | Matt Barkley, QB, USC |
Jake Heaps considering four schoolsNews: Former BYU quarterback Jake Heaps is said to be considering four schools as his transfer destination. Heaps is looking at California, Washington, Washington State, and USC. Analysis: Zach Maynard will be gone from Cal by the time Heaps is eligible which makes that an attractive option. USC is a solid option as the signal callers behind Matt Barkley have little in terms of experience. Washington State may seem like a solid place to start but he would have the most competition there with Connor Halliday having three more years of eligibility. |
| 12/5/2011 | Darrell Scott, RB, SFLA |
Darrell Scott thinking NFL DraftNews: South Florida coach Skip Holtz told TampaBay.com that running back Darrell Scott is pondering a jump to the NFL Analysis: Scott gained over 800 yards this season, and if he does go through with the decision to forgo his final year then he either really needs the money or really doesn't like college. |
| 12/5/2011 | Tom Savage, QB, ARIZ |
Arizona loses two QBs to transfer requestsNews: Arizona lost two quarterbacks to transfers today -- former Rutgers transfer Tom Savage and freshman Daxx Garman. New coach Rich Rodriguez's spread option offense isn't seen as a fit for Savage or Garman. Analysis: Savage, who arrived barely a year ago after showing such promise at Rutgers, is much more of a pocket quarterback than Rodriquez's offense really likes to use. With Senior Matt Scott redshirting and the likely starter in 2012, the Wildcats don't have any other scholarship quarterbacks on the roster right now. Savage said that family concerns are the prime reason for the transfer. |
| 12/5/2011 | Kellen Moore, QB, BOISE |
MAACO Bowl wanted Boise and Kellen MooreNews: Boise State may have gotten pushed out of a BCS bowl game, but the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas Bowl knew if the Broncos were available, they wanted them -- and quarterback Kellen Moore was the reason. Analysis: Executive Director Tina Kunzer-Murphy said having Moore play his final college football game in Las Vegas was too enticing to pass up. Moore will get a chance to test himself against one of the Pac-12's most disappointing teams this year, the Arizona State Sun Devils. |
| 12/5/2011 | Cyrus Gray, RB, TXAM |
Cyrus Gray questionable for bowlNews: Texas A&M running back Cyrus Gray is "50-50" to play in the the Aggies bowl game, according to interim head coach Tim DeRuyter. Analysis: Gray missed the season finale against Texas with a stress fracture in his shoulder. Once bowl practices get under way, we should have a better idea of Gray's chances of playing. |
| 12/5/2011 | Oregon, DST, OR |
Ducks dismiss CB Harris from the teamNews: After repeated problems towing the line at Oregon, multi-talented cornerback/return man Cliff Harris has been dismissed from the team for violation of team rules. Analysis: Harris has played sparingly this season in-between suspensions for various offenses. Apparently, the issues were just too many for coach Chip Kelly and his staff. |
| 12/5/2011 | UAB, DST, UAB |
Garrick McGee named new boss at UABNews: Garrick McGee will be the next football coach at UAB. McGee is the former Arkansas offensive coordinator. Analysis: McGee's offenses have been potent, so this is good fantasy news for UAB players starting in 2012. |
| 12/5/2011 | Riley Nelson, QB, BYU |
BYU QB Jake Heaps to transferNews: BYU quarterback Jake Heaps has decided to transfer and the school has given him his release. Analysis: Riley Nelson is now the clear starter and will get the start against Tulsa in the Armed Forces Bowl. There is no word yet on where Heaps will end up. |
| 12/4/2011 | Barry Brunetti, QB, MISS |
Looks like Hugh Freeze is next Ole Miss coachNews: It appears that Ole Miss has found their next head coach in Hugh Freeze from Arkansas State. Freeze is familiar with Ole Miss as he coached under Ed Orgeron. Freeze has had much success as the offensive coordinator and head coach of the Red Wolves, leading them to a 10-2 season in his first season as the head coach. Analysis: Freeze is a solid hire for the program and has some young talent to work with. Look for him to mold Barry Brunetti like he did Ryan Aplin and use the wealth of talent already on the roster. |
| 12/4/2011 | Orleans Darkwa, RB, TULANE |
Tulane to name Curtis Johnson head coachNews: New Orleans Saints wide receiver coach Curtis Johnson will be the next head coach of the Tulane football team. Analysis: Hopefully Johnson can breathe some life into the Green Wave and thankfully he has some talent in Orleans Darkwa, Wilson Van Hooser, and Ryan Griffin. |
| 12/4/2011 | G.J. Kinne, QB, TULSA |
Tulsa heads to Dallas to battle BYUNews: Tulsa was selected to play in the Armed Forces Bowl Analysis: G.J. Kinne, Alex Singleton, Trey Watts and Bryan Burnham are all fantasy worthy for bowl pools as this should be an absolute shootout. Kinne may have the best day of any of the Hurricanes. |
| 12/4/2011 | Aaron Dobson, WR, MRSHL |
Marshall back in bowl formNews: Marshall will return to bowl season as they take on FIU in the Beef O Brady's Bowl. Analysis: Despite their return to bowl action, it will be tough for any of the Marshall starters, ie Rakeem Cato, Travon Van and even Aaron Dobson being fantasy worthy against a stingy FIU defense. |
| 12/4/2011 | Charles Sims, RB, HOU |
RB Sims catches 10 in crucial lossNews: Charles Sims struggled against USM on the ground rushing for just 32 yards, but did catch 10 balls in the loss. Analysis: Sims is the one Cougar I would trust in a bowl pool because of his versatility in a PPR league. |
| 12/4/2011 | Tyron Carrier, WR, HOU |
WR duo Edwards & Carrier struggle in lossNews: Tyron Carrier and Patrick Edwards COMBINED for nine catches and 69 yards in the Houston loss to USM. Analysis: That is reason number one they lost. Carrier had a game changing drop which would have been a long touchdown and probably changed the momentum. With a tough matchup against PSU, neither are options in bowl pools. |
| 12/4/2011 | Justin Johnson, WR, HOU |
WR Justin Johnson catches 12 in lossNews: Houston receiver Justin Johnson caught 12 passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns in the team's loss to USM. Analysis: Johnson has a tough matchup against PSU in their bowl game and cannot be trusted in bowl pools. |
| 12/4/2011 | Desmond Johnson, RB, USM |
RB Johnson finds end zone in winNews: USM running back Desmond Johnson found the end zone in their shocking win against Houston. Analysis: Johnson was solid and is a decent play as a flex in bowl pools as USM takes on Nevada in the Hawaii Bowl. |
| 12/4/2011 | Ryan Balentine, WR, USM |
USM WR duo produces in big winNews: Dominique Sullivan and Ryan Balentine both caught touchdowns for Southern Miss in their blowout win over Houston. Analysis: Both are solid threats but the ball is spread too much for them to have much value in bowl pools. |
| 12/4/2011 | Tracy Lampley, WR, USM |
Tracy Lampley goes off on HoustonNews: Tracy Lampley exploded on Houston, catching two touchdowns while totaling close to 200 yards. Analysis: Lampley was the most explosive player on the field and is a solid bet for fantasy production in 2012. |
| 12/4/2011 | Austin Davis, QB, USM |
QB Davis tosses 4 TD in shocking winNews: Austin Davis had his best game of 2011 tossing four touchdowns in the Southern Miss win over Houston. Analysis: Davis' performance was sensational and he is a solid QB in bowl pools when he takes on Nevada in the Hawaii Bowl. |
| 12/4/2011 | Tulane, DST, TLN |
Tulane close to naming new coach?News: Tulane is expected to announce that Curtis Johnson, the Saints WR coach, will be named the next head coach. Analysis: Johnson was an assistant at the University of Miami when the Hurricanes made nine bowl appearances and won the 2001 national championship. He has a tall challenge ahead of him rebuilding the program. |
| 12/4/2011 | Phillip Dorsett, WR, MIAMI |
Tommy Streeter going proNews: Though no official announcement has been made, reports are beginning to circulate that Miami wide receiver Tommy Streeter will leave school for the NFL. Analysis: Reading the source here, it seems like agent Drew Rosenhaus is in one ear, and head coach Al Golden is in the other. Streeter certainly looks like an NFL receiver, but only has a 12 game sample to offer. It'd a pretty big blow to a Hurricane receiving corp that also loses Travis Benjamin and LaRon Byrd. Allen Hurns and Phillip Dorsett figure to open spring atop the depth chart, and the 'Canes currently have four verbally committed pass catchers. |
| 12/4/2011 | Danny Coale, WR, VATECH |
D.J. Coles shows us a glimpseNews: Virginia Tech wide receiver D.J. Coles erupted for seven catches, 116 yards and a touchdown in the ACC Championship against Clemson. Analysis: Coles is a name to file away. Jarrett Boykin and Danny Coale graduate, and Marcus Davis has been an enigma. 2012 figures to be a breakout season for one of these two wideouts, and I think Coles will be worth a gamble. |
| 12/4/2011 | Sammy Watkins, WR, CLEM |
Clemson finds their offenseNews: Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd led the way for the Tigers against Virginia Tech, accounting for 268 total yards and four touchdowns. Analysis: He wasn't picked off after tossing seven in his previous four games. RB Andre Ellington added 125 yards and a score on the ground, and freshman sensation wideout Sammy Watkins scored and added 135 total yards. The Tigers will head to the Orange Bowl, likely against West Virginia, in a game that will feature two spread offenses, and likely be one you'll want to load up on for your bowl challenge. |
| 12/4/2011 | Tommy Rees, QB, ND |
Dayne Crist reportedly leaving Notre DameNews: According to a report, Notre Dame quarterback Dayne Crist will not return to the team next season. Crist is scheduled to graduate later this month and will be allowed to transfer to another FBS school without sitting out a year as long as that school offers a graduate program that is not offered at Notre Dame. Analysis: Crist was a solid contributor for the Fightin' Irish but with Tommy Rees the starter this year and Andrew Hendrix likely the starter next season, it is best for the young man to move on. |
| 12/3/2011 | Case McCoy, QB, TEXAS |
Brown, Bergeron out for Baylor gameNews: Texas freshmen running backs Joe Bergeron and Malcolm Brown are both out for the game against Baylor today due to injuries. Analysis: This leaves the Longhorns pretty thin at tailback. So far, Cody Johnson has gotten the bulk of the carries but Case McCoy has been winging the ball around quite a bit against a weak Baylor secondary. |
| 12/2/2011 | De'Anthony Thomas, RB, OREG |
Ducks' Thomas takes shot, sits out rest of gameNews: Oregon freshman sensation De'Anthony Thomas suffered a hit to the head that caused a fumble in the first quarter and didn't play again in the win over UCLA. Analysis: There was no immediate word on whether Thomas had suffered an injury, but he was shown on the sidelines without a helmet, smiling and laughing with teammates. |
| 12/2/2011 | Da'Rick Rogers, WR, TENN |
Da'Rick Rogers suspended?News: Multiple sources are beginning to report that Tennessee wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers is "not part of the team." Analysis: Go Vols Xtra will only go as far as saying that Rogers is receiving treatment similar to what former safety Janzen Jackson got, while WVLT hears it's a suspension through spring practice. 'Tis the season for rumors my friends. Dynasty owners of Rogers should officially be worried, but that's the only conclussion we'll draw as of yet. |
| 12/1/2011 | Robert Griffin III, QB, BAYLOR |
Robert Griffin back at practice for BearsNews: Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin has returned to practice and is showing no concussion-like symptoms after being knocked out of the game against Texas Tech. Analysis: Griffin versus the Texas defense will be worth watching and a solid performance could earn him a trip to New York. |
| 12/1/2011 | Justus Pickett, RB, MD |
D.J. Adams leaves TerpsNews: Maryland running back D.J. Adams has been granted his release by the school, and will transfer. Analysis: This hardly comes as a surprise, as Adams spent most of the season in head coach Randy Edsall's doghouse. Adams has already redshirted, so he'll have just one season of eligibility remaining should he transfer to a FBS program. With Davin Meggett graduating, and Adams out of the picture, sophomore-to-be Justus Pickett is rapidly ascending to the top of the Terps' backfield. |
| 12/1/2011 | Bobby Eveld, QB, SFLA |
B.J. Daniels will not play against WVUNews: For the second straight week, Bobby Eveld will get the start for South Florida at quarterback as B.J. Daniels will be unable to play against West Virginia. Analysis: Daniels is still dealing with a shoulder injury suffered against Miami, but could make a return if the Bulls play in a bowl game. |
| 12/1/2011 | Michael Holmes, RB, VATECH |
David Wilson will submit NFL paperworkNews: Virginia Tech running back David Wilson will submit his name to the NFL Draft Advisory Board following the season to see where he may be drafted. Analysis: The optimist will say that it's the only time Wilson can do so, but the realist sees this as the first step towards Wilson's departure. It would be an upset to see Wilson in Blacksburg in 2012, and while the Hokies' consistently churn out terrific rushers, there is no clear leader behind Wilson. Michael Holmes, who is redshirting this season, and a slew of incoming freshman figure to battle into next August. |
| 11/30/2011 | Jacob Karam, QB, TXTECH |
Tech backup QB Karam will transferNews: Texas Tech sophomore backup quarterback Jacob Karam will transfer after earning a degree in two and a half years in University Studies/Pre-Law. Analysis: First of all, wow. This kid is about as smart as they come. Karam said he wants to stay in Division I FBS so we'll see where he ends up landing. It will probably be a smart decision whatever he chooses. |
| 11/30/2011 | Marquess Wilson, WR, WASHST |
Report: Mike Leach sailing to PullmanNews: It has been reported that former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach will be the next coach for Washington State. Analysis: This seems like a solid hire for the Cougars for a couple of reasons. First of all, the pieces are already in place for Leach's style of offense with Jeff Tuel, Connor Halliday, and Marquess Wilson back for next year. Secondly, he will certainly be able to sell some tickets. Lastly, the expectations in Pullman are not very high so as long as he gets them to consistent bowl games and can win the occasional Apple Cup, everyone will be happy. |
| 11/30/2011 | Landry Jones, QB, OKLA |
Is Landry Jones returning next season?News: No one would be surprised if Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones fled for the NFL after this season, but a source close to Jones said the Sooner quarterback will return for his senior season. Analysis: Jones is already the all-time leading passer in school history and his return would likely put him at the top of preseason Heisman lists as well as keep the Sooners as a national contender. |
| 11/29/2011 | Ronnie Daniels, RB, TXTECH |
RB Daniels no longer on teamNews: Texas Tech freshman running back Ronnie Daniels "is not on the football team right now" according to offensive coordinator Neal Brown. Analysis: Daniels was suspended for the season opener as well as week 3 and onward for undisclosed reasons. Now it looks like he's gotten the permanent boot. |
| 11/29/2011 | Benjamin Cunningham, RB, MTSU |
D.D. Kyles questionable against Mean GreenNews: Middle Tennessee running back D.D. Kyles is dealing with an injured leg and is considered questionable for this week's game against North Texas. Analysis: The Blue Raiders still have Reggie Whatley and Ben Cunningham in the backfield so they should be just fine without Kyles. |
| 11/29/2011 | Malcolm Mitchell, WR, UGA |
Malcolm Mitchell nursing hamstring injuryNews: Georgia may be without their top deep threat as they square off in the SEC title game against LSU, as Malcolm Mitchell is dealing with a hamstring injury. Analysis: Mitchell is listed as questionable, but you have to imagine that if he can go, he will. If he is unable to go, the Bulldogs have several options like Chris Conley and Orson Charles and a great quarterback in Aaron Murray to deliver them the ball. |
| 11/29/2011 | John Brantley, QB, FLA |
John Brantley dealing with head injuryNews: Florida quarterback John Brantley is currently listed as questionable with a head injury suffered against Florida State. Analysis: Brantley was knocked out of the game, but even with him in the game, the offense was not moving the ball very well. If Brantley is able to go for the team's bowl game, it is best to stay away from playing him. |
| 11/29/2011 | Philip Lutzenkirchen, TE, AUBURN |
TE Lutzenkirchen day-to-day with injured kneeNews: Auburn tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen is currently listed as day-to-day after suffering a knee injury against Alabama. Analysis: There is no definitive word yet as to whether or not Lutzenkirchen will be available for the team's bowl game, but it seems likely. |
| 11/29/2011 | Alshon Jeffery, WR, SC |
Alshon Jeffery has hand surgeryNews: South Carolina wide receiver Alshon Jeffery had a minor hand surgery to repair a broken bone suffered against Clemson, but is expected to be ready for the team's bowl game. Analysis: Jeffery has not been nearly as effective his junior year as the two previous years so, although he is a likely high draft pick by the NFL, he is not worth playing during bowl season. |
| 11/28/2011 | Miles Onyegbule, WR, TEXAS |
McCoy listed as starter, Davis is notNews: Texas quarterback Case McCoy is no longer listed as a co-starter with David Ash - it's now McCoy alone at the top. Also, wide receiver Mike Davis is listed as a backup to Miles Onyegbule. Analysis: Nothing groundbreaking with the McCoy news, but it's interesting to see Davis, who was expected to be the number one guy this season at receiver, drop to second string. |
| 11/28/2011 | Jordan Reed, TE, FLA |
Jordan Reed did not play against FSUNews: Florida tight end Jordan Reed did not play against Florida State after injuring his ankle against Furman the week before. Reed is currently listed as day-to-day. Analysis: Even with Reed in the lineup, the offense would have been less than stellar, so be sure to stay away from him when he gets healthy. |
| 11/28/2011 | Amir Carlisle, RB, USC |
Robert Woods to go under the knifeNews: With no bowl game in sight due to NCAA sanctions, USC wide receiver Robert Woods and running back Amir Carlisle will undergo surgery to repair ankle and knee injuries, respectively. Both should be ready for spring practice. Analysis: Woods was pretty beat up this season as he tallied 111 receptions. If Matt Barkley leaves, Woods is still a top tier receiving option for next season. |
| 11/27/2011 | Kevin Prince, QB, UCLA |
Neuheisel's chances of staying on may be 'bleak'News: Rick Neuheisel's time as UCLA's head coach may be coming to a close after the Bruins face Oregon Friday. According to a story in the LA Times, Neuheisel will meet with AD Dan Guerrero after the game to talk about the future. Analysis: The story reports Neuheisel's chances of retaining the job as "bleak" and pointed to Guerrero's less-than-solid backing in comments he made after the Bruins were destroyed by USC Saturday. Neuheisel has been on the hot seat all season and, despite kind of backing into the Pac-12 title game, a 6-6 record probably isn't enough to save him. |
| 11/27/2011 | Jared Abbrederis, WR, WISC |
Abbrederis and Toon both scoreNews: Wisconsin wide receivers Jared Abbrederis (93 yards) and Nick Toon (42 yards) each caught a touchdown in the win over Penn State. Analysis: The two have combined for 15 touchdowns this season, a nice compliment to Montee Ball. |
| 11/27/2011 | Marvin McNutt, WR, IOWA |
Marvin McNutt disappointing in lossNews: Iowa receiver Marvin McNutt caught just four passes for 29 yards in the loss to Nebraska. Analysis: McNutt probably let down a few folks playing in their championship games. It was the first time since 10/15 he didn't go over 100 yards receiving. |
| 11/27/2011 | Marcus Coker, RB, IOWA |
Marcus Coker lone bright spot for IowaNews: Iowa running back Marcus Coker rushed 18 times for 87 yards and a score, while catching three passes for 39 yards in the loss to Nebraska. Analysis: Coker has been a bright spot all season, and has now scored in seven straight games. |

MarQueis Gray leads Minny to upsetNews: Minnesota quarterback MarQueis Gray had 252 total yards with three touchdowns (2 rush) in the season-ending win over Illinois. Analysis: Gray could be a serious fantasy factor in 2012. Things just haven't gone very well for Illini coach Ron Zook, who likely coached his last game for Illinois. |
| 11/27/2011 | Ralph Bolden, RB, PURDUE |
Bolden helps Purdue become bowl eligibleNews: Purdue running back Ralph Bolden had 117 yards of offense (63 receiving) with a touchdown in the win over Indiana. Analysis: Bolden has scored in three straight games, as Purdue evened up their record at 6-6, making them bowl-eligible. |
| 11/27/2011 | Dan Persa, QB, NWEST |
Persa-Ebert connection stallsNews: Northwestern quarterback Dan Persa threw for 245 yards and two touchdowns, one of which went to wide receiver Jeremy Ebert. Ebert, however, was held to just 39 yards receiving on seven receptions. Analysis: The Michigan State defense has done this nearly all season. It was no surprise. |
| 11/27/2011 | Kain Colter, QB, NWEST |
Kain Colter shut down in lossNews: Northwestern super-athlete Kain Colter was held without a touchdown in the loss to Michigan State. Analysis: It was the first time Colter didn't score a touchdown since 10/15 against Iowa. |
| 11/27/2011 | Stepfan Taylor, RB, STNFRD |
Stanford's Taylor cracks 100 againNews: Stanford running back Stepfan Taylor set a career high in rushing yardage with his 118-yard performance Saturday against Notre Dame. That number gave him 1,153 this season -- his best ever. Analysis: For all the talk about Andrew Luck, the Stanford offense is predicated on a strong running game. That's where Taylor has been extremely valuable to the development of Luck. Taylor does a lot of work and should be regarded as one of the best in the Pac-12. |
| 11/27/2011 | B.J. Cunningham, WR, MICHST |
B.J. Cunningham inches towards recordNews: Michigan State wide receiver B.J. Cunningham caught six passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns against Northwestern. Analysis: This brings Cunningham's career total to 22 touchdowns, five shy of Charles Rogers' record of 27. |
| 11/27/2011 | Griff Whalen, WR, STNFRD |
WR Montgomery gets into end zoneNews: Stanford freshman receiver Ty Montgomery was a major player in the win over Notre Dame, catching six passes for 77 yards and a score. Analysis: Montgomery has come on to be a major factor in the passing game the last half of the season. It appears that Montgomery and Griff Whalen will give Stanford's next quarterback -- should Luck leave -- a nice, productive one-two punch at receiver. |
| 11/27/2011 | Jawon Chisholm, RB, AKRON |
Akron fires Rob Ianello after two yearsNews: Rob Ianello joins the likes of Turner Gill, Ron Zook, Neil Callaway, and Dennis Erickson, as he was fired as the head coach of Akron after just two seasons. In those two years, Ianello compiled a 2-20 record. Analysis: Ianello just couldn't get it done in Akron despite some decent transfers. It will be interesting to see what the new coaching staff does with star freshman Jawon Chisholm. |
| 11/27/2011 | Kirk Cousins, QB, MICHST |
Kirk Cousins sets new recordNews: Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for 214 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Northwestern. Analysis: His two touchdown passes brought his career total to 62, a new Michigan State record. |
| 11/27/2011 | Levine Toilolo, TE, STNFRD |
Stanford tight ends account for three scoresNews: Stanford's tight ends struck again. Coby Fleener caught four passes for 97 yards and two scores, while Levine Toilolo had two catches for 19 yards and another score. Analysis: If you can appreciate anything about quarterback Andrew Luck, it's that he involves his tight ends in the passing game -- heavily. Fleener was a huge thorn in the side of the Notre Dame defense and demonstrated not only speed, but athleticism. |
| 11/27/2011 | David Douglas, WR, ARIZ |
WR Douglas snags nine for WildcatsNews: Arizona receiver David Douglas had another good outing with nine catches for 69 yards and a score Saturday. Analysis: Douglas doesn't do this consistently, but he's proven to be a very nice possession receiver for quarterback Nick Foles and has had more than a few high catch games this year. |
| 11/27/2011 | Isaiah Crowell, RB, UGA |
Isaiah Crowell expected to face LSUNews: Georgia running back Isaiah Crowell was held back by an ankle injury against Georgia Tech but is expected to be able to play against LSU in the SEC Championship. Analysis: The Bulldogs did not need Crowell to handily put away the Yellow Jackets but will need everyone at their best if they expect to win against the Tigers. |
| 11/27/2011 | Juron Criner, WR, ARIZ |
WR Criner sets Arizona TD receptions markNews: Arizona receiver Juron Criner established a new program record for touchdown receptions with 32. Criner had nine catches for 129 yards and two scores in the win over Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday. Analysis: It has been a strange trip for one of the nation's best receivers entering the 2011 season. Family issues before the season, an appendectomy early in the campaign and then assorted other nagging injuries. Although he disappeared for periods this year, he's as good as it gets in the Pac-12. |
| 11/27/2011 | Rueben Randle, WR, LSU |
Rueben Randle scorches Hogs secondaryNews: LSU wide receiver Rueben Randle registered a season-high 134 yards against Arkansas as the Tigers downed the Hogs handily. Analysis: Randle is not going to put up gaudy statistics but does find a way to get open and get deep for LSU, which makes him a decent WR3 depending on the match up. |
| 11/27/2011 | Kenny Hilliard, RB, LSU |
Kenny Hilliard is LSU's bell cowNews: LSU freshman Kenny Hilliard led the team in rushing against Arkansas with 102 yards and a score. Spencer Ware and Michael Ford combined for another 149 yards and a touchdown. Analysis: The LSU backfield seems to have gotten a bit muddy lately so I would avoid it for the rest of the year and during bowl season. |
| 11/27/2011 | Jordan Jefferson, QB, LSU |
Jordan Jefferson skins the RazorbacksNews: LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson shined against Arkansas, throwing for 208 yards and a score while adding 53 rushing and another touchdown. Analysis: Jefferson has wrestled the starting job from Jarrett Lee and doesn't look to be relinquishing it anytime soon. |
| 11/27/2011 | Tyler Wilson, QB, ARK |
Jarius Wright reaches pay dirt against LSUNews: Arkansas receiver Jarius Wright was mostly held in check by the LSU defense but still managed to score a touchdown to go along with 27 receiving yards. Analysis: Wright has been Tyler Wilson's top target all season and is a must start during bowl season. |
| 11/27/2011 | Connor Shaw, QB, SC |
Bruce Ellington leads Gamecocks receiversNews: South Carolina receiver Bruce Ellington was the star of the receiving corps, not Alshon Jeffery, as the Gamecocks beat rival Clemson. Ellington caught three passes for 71 yards and a score while Jeffery also reached the end zone. Analysis: Expect Jeffery to likely jump to the NFL while Ellington should be a top target for Connor Shaw for the next couple of years. |
| 11/27/2011 | Chris Relf, QB, MISSST |
Perkins and Relf score twice for DogsNews: Mississippi State quarterback Chris Relf got the start against rival Ole Miss in his last Egg Bowl and did decently well considering his recent struggles. Relf threw for two touchdowns while running back LaDarius Perkins enjoyed some success as well as he had a rushing and receiving score. Analysis: The Bulldog offense looked like what we saw last year, but don't expect a repeat during bowl season. |
| 11/27/2011 | Vick Ballard, RB, MISSST |
Where have you been Vick Ballard?News: Those of us who have been waiting for the real Vick Ballard to step forward saw it in the senior's last regular season game as a Bulldog. Ballard rushed for 144 yards and a score while also catching 25 more yards and a second touchdown. Analysis: This is the type of performance everyone expected on a weekly basis but due to a lot of issues, it never really happened for Ballard. Despite this performance, don't put much stock in the Bulldog offense if they get a bowl bid. |
| 11/27/2011 | Enrique Davis, RB, MISS |
Ole Miss offense rotten in Egg BowlNews: Led by Barry Brunetti, the Ole Miss offense gained just 202 total yards against Mississippi State. Brunetti threw for 110 yards while rushing for 23 more. Running backs Enrique Davis and Brandon Bolden combined for a meager 47 yards. Analysis: Brunetti has a lot of potential so it will be interesting to see how the new coaching staff utilizes him and attempts to spark a dormant offense. |
| 11/27/2011 | Quinton Dunbar, WR, FLA |
Quinton Dunbar registers team's lone scoreNews: In what can only be deemed a dark day for the Florida offense, the one redeeming light was that of receiver Quinton Dunbar who had 40 yards receiving and a touchdown against Florida State. Analysis: Dunbar is one of the team's most talented vertical threats so it will be interesting to see what he can do with improved quarterback play. |
| 11/27/2011 | Chris Rainey, RB, FLA |
Gator speedster bottled up by 'NolesNews: When your team musters a meager 184 yards from scrimmage, it is hard for your stars to shine. Florida State's defense held Chris Rainey to just 42 yards rushing while Jeff Demps registered negative yardage. Analysis: Without a decent signal caller, the Gators have struggled all season and will have plenty of work to do to get ready for their bowl game. |
| 11/27/2011 | Jacoby Brissett, QB, FLA |
John Brantley knocked out of gameNews: Florida quarterback John Brantley suffered a concussion against Florida State but not before throwing three interceptions, one of which was returned for a score. Analysis: Jacoby Brissett filled in for Brantley but didn't fare much better. This offseason the top task for the Gators will be finding someone who can effectively sling the pigskin. |
| 11/27/2011 | Zac Stacy, RB, VANDY |
Zac Stacy reaches 1,000 yards in routNews: Vanderbilt running back Zac Stacy went over the 1,000-yard mark against Wake Forest in a big way with 184 yards and three touchdowns. Analysis: As long as Jordan Rodgers is around, Stacy will find running room against opposing defenses, so look for the duo to shine during bowl season. |
| 11/27/2011 | Brandon Barden, TE, VANDY |
Brandon Barden gets deepNews: Vanderbilt tight end Brandon Barden gouged the Wake Forest pass defense for 80 yards and a score on just two passes as the Commodores rolled. Analysis: Barden used to be a hot target, but with the emergence of other receivers and a consistent passing attack, Barden has seen his workload diminish. However, as proven against the Demon Deacons, Barden still has it in him to hurt opposing defenses. |
| 11/27/2011 | Lance Dunbar, RB, NTEXAS |
Lance Dunbar eyeing recordNews: Running back Lance Dunbar needs 140 yards rushing against Middle Tennessee State on Saturday to become North Texas' all-time leading rusher. Analysis: Dunbar has been slowed the last two games due to a knee injury but he's had the bye week to rest. He'll be running with extra motivation this week. |
| 11/27/2011 | Jordan Matthews, WR, VANDY |
Jordan Matthews shines against DeaconsNews: Vanderbilt wide receiver Jordan Matthews has been one of the most consistent receivers in the latter half of the season. He continued his steady production against Wake Forest with 79 yards and a touchdown. Analysis: With the effectiveness of the Commodore rushing attack, Matthews is often dealing with single coverage which he has no problem beating. |
| 11/27/2011 | Brad Smelley, TE, BAMA |
Brad Smelley catches 3rd TD in two weeksNews: Alabama tight end Brad Smelley has started to see more attention from quarterback A.J. McCarron as he caught six passes for 86 yards and a score against Auburn. Analysis: Smelley is the team's athletic option at tight end and should be a nice start against Georgia. |
| 11/27/2011 | Travaughn Colwell, QB, NMEXST |
QB Matt Christian sits for AggiesNews: New Mexico State quarterback Matt Christian (hip) missed Saturday's blowout loss to Louisiana Tech Saturday. Travaughn Colwell got the start and failed to lead the Aggies to a score as the Bulldogs defense pitched a shutout. Analysis: Christian's status for Saturday's game against Utah State is up in the air. |
| 11/27/2011 | Lampford Mark, RB, NEVADA |
Lampford Mark goes over 100-yard markNews: Nevada running back Lampford Mark rushed for 111 yards and a score against Utah State on Saturday. Analysis: Impressive numbers considering Utah State has a solid defense. With Mike Ball off the team, Mark should be a good fantasy play against Idaho this weekend. |
| 11/27/2011 | Tyler Lantrip, QB, NEVADA |
Cody Fajardo suffers sprained ankleNews: Nevada quarterback Cody Fajardo suffered a sprained ankle in Saturday's game against Utah State. Tyler Lantrip took over for Fajardo in the second half. Analysis: Fajardo's status for Saturday's game against Idaho remains up in the air. |
| 11/27/2011 | Darrian Miller, RB, KANSAS |
Freshman RB Miller suspended for last gameNews: Kansas running back Darrian Miller was suspended against Missouri on Saturday for a violation of team rules. Analysis: Miller showed some promise this season and should become the main guy for Kansas someday, but it's disappointing to see this and hopefully it's only a one-time deal. |
| 11/27/2011 | Michael Hunnicutt, K, OKLA |
Hunnicutt thrives despite strong windsNews: The only real winner when speaking in fantasy terms from the Oklahoma-Iowa State game was kicker Michael Hunnicutt, who was a perfect 4 of 4 on field goals with a long of 37. Analysis: There was debate that Jimmy Stevens would play on senior day, but Hunnicutt has apparently done enough to secure the job since Stevens went down with an injury and had a solid performance in the win over the Cyclones. |
| 11/27/2011 | Matt Roark, WR, UK |
WR Roark leads UK to win... at QBNews: Kentucky beat Tennessee for the first time since 1984, but it wasn't Maxwell Smith at quarterback. Or Morgan Newton. Wide receiver Matt Roark took snaps behind center and finished with 124 yards rushing and just 15 passing yards. Analysis: Roark finished his senior season in a big way after being carried off the field by his teammates. |
| 11/27/2011 | Adam James, WR, TXTECH |
Ward has record-setting game in lossNews: Texas Tech wide receiver Eric Ward set a team record with 16 catches and had 151 yards and two touchdowns total in the team's loss to Baylor. Darrin Moore also added two scores and Adam James topped 100 yards for the Red Raiders. Analysis: It was a huge day for the Red Raider receiving corps, but the defense has been abysmal all season and cost the team any shot at winning this one. |
| 11/27/2011 | Kendall Wright, WR, BAYLOR |
WR Wright keeps on getting it doneNews: Baylor wide receiver Kendall Wright showed why he deserved to be a Biletnikoff finalist with his performance in Saturday's win over Texas Tech, catching six passes for 125 yards and two scores. Analysis: It seems as though Ryan Broyles earning a finalist position over Wright was based more off of reputation since he has been out for the season for a couple weeks now, but Wright's performance continues to fly under the radar. |
| 11/27/2011 | Terrance Ganaway, RB, BAYLOR |
Ganaway goes for 200-plus in victoryNews: Baylor running back Terrance Ganaway suffered a head injury early in the game, but he was still a workhorse and managed to run for 246 yards on 42 carries in the win over Texas Tech. Analysis: Ganaway only left the game briefly and came back to help the Bears win the game on the ground with a backup quarterback. He is now the Big 12's leading rusher with one more game to go. |
| 11/27/2011 | Nick Florence, QB, BAYLOR |
Florence steps in after RG3 knocked outNews: Baylor backup quarterback Nick Florence came in for Robert Griffin after he suffered a concussion and performed admirably, going 7 of 11 for 106 yards. He also threw a touchdown and ran for one in the win over Texas Tech. Analysis: Griffin is expected to be okay to play next week against Texas, but it's promising to see that Florence can hold his own out there should he go down again. |
| 11/27/2011 | Tyler Bray, QB, TENN |
Da'Rick Rogers held to 2 catches against 'CatsNews: Tennessee wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers was receiving passes from Tyler Bray against Kentucky but he didn't look like his usual self as he caught just two balls for 38 yards. Analysis: Rogers will be a top tier receiver again next year so be sure to snag him early. |
| 11/27/2011 | Sean Mannion, QB, OREGST |
Katz seeks, gets release from OSUNews: Oregon State has granted one-time starter Ryan Katz his release from scholarship, freeing him up to seek a place to play for his senior year. Katz is slated to graduate in March, which would allow him to transfer and play immediately under the right circumstances. Analysis: Katz, the 2010 starter, was called the "glue" of the Beavers offense by coach Mike Riley when the season started, but didn't get out of the first game before the Beavers turned to Sean Mannion. |
| 11/27/2011 | Tauren Poole, RB, TENN |
Rajion Neal goes for over 100 receiving yardsNews: The leading receiver for the Vols against Kentucky was not Da'Rick Rogers or Mychal Rivera but rather tailback Rajion Neal, who hauled in four passes for 125 yards and a score. Analysis: Neal is a diamond-in-the-rough for the Volunteers and will be one to watch next season. He was used as a receiver in an effort to get him and Tauren Poole on the field at the same time but could very well become the team's feature back next season. |
| 11/27/2011 | Taylor Reed, QB, MEMP |
Larry Porter out at MemphisNews: Memphis has fired head coach Larry Porter after just two seasons. "The expectations for the 2011 season were to see marked improvement in the team," Memphis Athletic Director R.C. Johnson said in a statement. "Now that the season has been completed, I do not feel that we have seen enough improvement for the future to justify keeping this football staff in place for another year." Analysis: Tough business. Coaches are no longer given a grace period to bring in their own players and implement their systems. It's win now or pack your bags. The Memphis job could be a landing spot for a former BCS-level coach looking to prove himself once again. |
| 11/27/2011 | James Sims, RB, KANSAS |
Turner Gill gets the axe at KansasNews: Kansas has fired head coach Turner Gill after just two seasons. "After a thorough evaluation of our football program," Athletic Director Sheahon Zenger said in a statement, "I have concluded that new leadership is necessary to place us on the path toward competing for championships in the Big 12 Conference." Analysis: Some potential candidates to fill the job include: Southern Miss HC Larry Fedora, Wyoming HC Dave Christensen, Cincinatti HC Butch Jones, Houston HC Kevin Sumlin, South Florida HC Skip Holtz, and of course Mike Leach |
| 11/27/2011 | Alfred Morris, RB, FAU |
Alfred Morris goes out with a bangNews: Florida Atlantic running back Alfred Morris saved the best for last as the senior rushed for a season-high 198 yards and four touchdowns in the win over UAB. Analysis: Morris was plagued by terrible quarterback play this season but showed why he led the Sun Belt in rushing two years ago. |
| 11/27/2011 | Jermaine Kearse, WR, WASH |
Kearse snags five in win over WSUNews: Washington receiver Jermaine Kearse caught five passes for 62 yards Saturday in the win over Washington State. Analysis: Kearse was a bit overshadowed by freshman Kasen Williams, but certainly had a couple of good moments in this one. He's a quality receiver who hasn't had quite the big year many thought he'd have in 2011. |
| 11/27/2011 | Ladarius Green, TE, LALAF |
Six more grabs for Ladarius GreenNews: Although he has been held out of the end zone for two weeks now, Louisiana tight end Ladarius Green is still seeing plenty of work. Green led all receivers with six catches that went for 66 yards against Arizona. Analysis: Green will be gone after this season but is still a great play during bowl season. |
| 11/27/2011 | Chris Polk, RB, WASH |
Polk cracks 100, scores two in winNews: Like the Energizer Bunny, Washington running back Chris Polk just keeps churning out productive games. In the win over Washington State Saturday, Polk rushed for 100 yards and one score, while catching two passes for 36 yards and another score. Analysis: Polk just continues to be a quietly-effective running back who doesn't get nearly enough attention. He hurt WSU with gashing runs and key catches and found the end zone just when Washington needed him to do so. |
| 11/27/2011 | Keith Price, QB, WASH |
Huskies Price tosses 3 TDs in winNews: Washington quarterback Keith Price looked good as new Saturday, throwing for 291 yards and three scores in the win over Washington State. Analysis: Price was hot from the outset and hit on 21-of-29 throws in the game. His sprained knee didn't seem to hinder his performance, which for most of the game was nearly flawless. |
| 11/27/2011 | Blaine Gautier, QB, LALAF |
Javone Lawson records fourth 100-yard dayNews: Louisiana wide receiver Javone Lawson recorded his fourth 100-yard receiving day this season against Arizona as he reeled in five passes for 157 yards in the close loss. Analysis: With Blaine Gautier returning next season, Lawson has some real upside and should be worthy of a draft selection. |
| 11/27/2011 | Jared Karstetter, WR, WASHST |
Karstetter catches nine in WSU lossNews: A big game, another big outing for Washington State receiver Jared Karstetter, who sliced up Washington's defense to the tune of nine catches for 82 yards and a score in the loss to Washington. Analysis: Karstetter was missing for most of the middle part of the season when the Cougars were struggling with their quarterback situation. With quarterback Marshall Lobbestael having a big game, Karstetter demonstrated his chain-moving ability. |
| 11/27/2011 | Kyle Griswould, WR, MTSU |
Kyle Griswold goes over 100 yardsNews: Duke transfer Kyle Griswold had his first 100-yard game for Middle Tennessee with four catches for 104 yards against Florida International. Analysis: Griswold has been a receptions machine and is a deep sleeper for next year. |
| 11/27/2011 | Logan Kilgore, QB, MTSU |
MTSU continues QB carouselNews: In the loss to Florida International, neither Jeff Murphy nor Logan Kilgore were all that effective as both took snaps for Middle Tennessee. The two combined for 291 yards, no scores, and two interceptions. Analysis: At one point this season, Kilgore was looking like a legitimate fantasy contender but now you should avoid them like the plague. |
| 11/27/2011 | Wayne Times, WR, FIU |
T.Y. Hilton held in check, still reaches end zoneNews: Analysis: |
| 11/27/2011 | Darriet Perry, RB, FIU |
Kedrick Rhodes reaches milestoneNews: Florida International running back Kedrick Rhodes became only the second 1,000-rusher for the Golden Panthers with a 117-yard, one score performance against Middle Tennessee State. | 11/27/2011 | Ryan Lindley, QB, SDGST |
Aztec WRs have pretty solid dayNews: San Diego State receivers Colin Lockett and Dylan Denso each found the end zone in the win over UNLV. Lockett had four catches for 45 yards and the score, while Denso had but two catches for 24 yards. Analysis: Despite the loss of a herd of receivers, Denso and Lockett have really emerged as pretty good targets for quarterback Ryan Lindley and shouldn't be blamed for Lindley's struggles to be a .500 passer. |
| 11/27/2011 | Ronnie Hillman, RB, SDGST |
Lindley struggles with accuracy again in winNews: Despite a great running day from running back Ronnie Hillman, San Diego State quarterback Ryan Lindley couldn't find the .500 mark in passing again. Lindley was a sad 13-of-29 passing for 152 yards, two scores and a pick. Analysis: You have a start to wonder if the receivers lost from last year really did save Lindley from a lot of bad throws. As has been the case most of the year, he missed open receivers on a number of occasions in this one. Obviously, accuracy is a struggle for him at this point. |
| 11/27/2011 | Tim Cornett, RB, UNLV |
RB Cornett delivers 136 yards, two scoresNews: UNLV running back Tim Cornett was about the only positive in the loss to San Diego State, rushing for 136 yards and two scores on 15 carries. | 11/27/2011 | Zack Kauth, WR, AF |
Kauth catches three scores for Air ForceNews: Three catches, three scores -- that was Air Force receiver Zach Kauth's afternoon Saturday in the win over Colorado State. Kauth caught touchdown passes of 33, 40 and 50 yards in the second quarter from quarterback Tim Jefferson. Analysis: Obviously a bit of an aberration for the Air Force offense, but a huge load of fun for Kauth. Nice to see that Jefferson can still throw it and he's got a receiver who can turn catches into scores. |

| 11/27/2011 | Garrett Grayson, QB, COLOST |
Grayson struggles in second QB outingNews: Colorado State quarterback Garrett Grayson, filling in for Pete Thomas, struggled all day long against Air Force. He hit on 8-of-13 for 125 yards, a score and a pick. Analysis: The Rams didn't exactly embrace a passing game with Grayson in control, preferring to use the running game. |
| 11/27/2011 | Brett Smith, QB, WYO |
Wyoming's Smith struggles in loss to BSUNews: Wyoming quarterback Brett Smith was accurate against Boise State, but really didn't produce a lot with it. Smith hit on 17-of-25 passes for a measly 78 yards. He had a very late TD throw and was picked once. Analysis: Looking at Smith's outing honestly, he's simply a true freshman who learned a very good lesson about playing with big dog of the conference. On the one hand, his accuracy in the face of a pretty good defense was nice to see, but he definitely was afraid to go downfield in this one. He'll keep getting better. |
| 11/27/2011 | D.J. Harper, RB, BOISE |
RB Martin has big day against WyomingNews: Boise State running back Doug Martin continued to show that he is over his recent leg injury in a big way Saturday, rushing for 153 yards on 26 carries and scoring twice in the win over Wyoming. Analysis: Martin looked like his old self -- darting and dodging between the tackles and on the edge. Backup D.J. Harper had 35 yards rushing, but added five catches for another 50 yards in the game. As usual, Boise has a very nice pair of running backs who can do a lot of things. |
| 11/27/2011 | Matt Miller, WR, BOISE |
Miller leads Boise with four catchesNews: Boise State receiver Matt Miller led the team with four catches for 66 yards and a touchdown that bounced off several hands before falling to him as he lay on the goal line. | 11/27/2011 | Kyle Efaw, TE, BOISE |
Boise tight ends do plenty of damageNews: Boise State tight ends Gabe Linehan and Kyle Efaw caught two of Kellen Moore's three touchdown passes Saturday. Linehan scored on a 17-yard reception four minutes after Efaw caught a 10-yarder in the third quarter. | 11/27/2011 | Fitzgerald Toussaint, RB, MICH |

| 11/27/2011 | Denard Robinson, QB, MICH |
Denard Robinson fuels MichiganNews: Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson had a monster game against Ohio State, rolling up 337 total yards with five touchdowns (two rush) in the win. | 11/27/2011 | Ka'Deem Carey, RB, ARIZ |
Ka'Deem Carey a sits with a concussionNews: Arizona running back Ka'Deem Carey sat out Saturday's game against Louisiana-Lafeyette due to a concussion. Unfortunately the injury was not reported by the team. Another DNP for fantasy owners who are at the mercy of coaches on whether or not they report injuries. Analysis: With Keola Antolin graduating and Rich Rodriquez taking over as head coach and bringing in his zone read brand of football, Carey has a bright future. |

Corey Robinson's 300 yards not enoughNews: Troy quarterback Corey Robinson threw for 303 yards and two touchdowns against Western Kentucky, but it was not enough to put away the Hilltoppers. Jordan Luallen also saw action, rushing for 77 yards on eight carries. Analysis: These two will likely continue this platoon next week against Connecticut, with Legaux receiving the majority of the snaps due to his passing ability. |
| 11/26/2011 | Gary Nova, QB, RUT |
Dodd replaced by Nova in lossNews: Rutgers needed a spark in the fourth quarter, so quarterback Chas Dodd was replaced by Gary Nova. Nova completed 11 of 18 passes for 298 yards and two touchdowns but also threw a pair of interceptions. Dodd completed 11 of 22 for 141 yards and an interception. Mohamed Sanu added nine receptions for 133 yards, finishing his season with 109 receptions. Analysis: Whether or not Sanu enters the NFL Draft will have a lot to do with who gets a good number of targets next season, but you'd have to think that Coleman is one of those primary options. There's still a bowl game to be played as well. |

McCummings, McCombs productive in winNews: UConn quarterback Scott McCummings and running back Lyle McCombs were two of the catalysts in their 40-22 win over Rutgers, eliminating the Scarlet Knights from the Big East race. McCombes rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns while McCummings added 47 yards and a pair of scores of his own. Analysis: UConn's been most effective when committing to the run as opposed to trying to sell out in the passing game with Johnny McEntee. McCombs will be a player to watch for UConn next season. |
| 11/26/2011 | James Rodgers, WR, OREGST |
Beavers Rodgers didn't play todayNews: Oregon State receiver James Rodgers did not play in today's Civil War game against Oregon. Rodgers warmed up, but coudn't push off the sore ankle, so the decision was made that he will not play. | 11/26/2011 | C.J. Anderson, RB, CAL |
Backup RB Anderson scores three times in winNews: California backup running back C.J. Anderson had a game to remember Friday. | 11/26/2011 | Gerell Robinson, WR, ARIZST |
WR Robinson held in check in loss to CalNews: Arizona State's big play receiver, Gerell Robinson, had a few moments in Friday's game, but overall wasn't a huge part of the game plan. Robinson had three catches for 56 yards and didn't find the end zone. Analysis: We'd hoped for a little more from Robinson after the last several weeks. He had developed into the go-to guy for quarterback Brock Osweiler of late, but wasn't targeted much in this one. |
| 11/26/2011 | Aaron Pflugrad, WR, ARIZST |
ASU receivers do some damage in lossNews: Arizona State receivers Aaron Pflugrad and Rashad Ross each got into the end zone Friday against California. Ross led the Sun Devils with five catches for 108 yards while Pflugrad had two catches for 33 yards. Analysis: Quarterback Brock Osweiler missed both of these guys with big plays throws several times, which was unfortunate. Still, Ross has been a nice revelation of late and Pflugrad, who doesn't get the ball nearly enough, came through with a clutch catch when ASU needed it. |
| 11/26/2011 | Cameron Marshall, RB, ARIZST |
Marshall overcomes sore ankle, has big gameNews: Despite repeatedly limping to the sidelines with a sore ankle, Arizona State running back Cameron Marshall returned time and again to lead the Sun Devil offense. Marshall rushed for 157 yards and two scores in the Friday night loss to California. Analysis: Marshall is a warrior and it seemed every limp towards the sideline would be his last of the night. He demonstrated not only toughness, but leadership in continually coming back into the game and being highly productive. |
| 11/26/2011 | Tavon Austin, WR, WVU |
Austin, Bailey productive in winNews: West Virginia wide receivers Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey continued their move up the school record books. QB Lamaison returns for UTEPNews: Nick Lamaison returned from injury to play for UTEP, throwing for 189 yards and a score in the loss to UCF. Analysis: Lamaison will likely enter 2012 as the favorite to play quarterback, but expect there to be competition. |

Brown rushed for 67 yards on 15 carries (1 TD) before leaving the game with a bruised sternum in the second quarter. Bennett rushed for 69 yards and a score on 16 carries. | 11/25/2011 | Eli Rogers, WR, LVILLE |
Parker, Rogers productive in winNews: Louisville wide receivers Eli Rogers and DeVante Parker both played well in the Cardinals' 34-24 win over USF. Rogers caught four passes for 84 yards while Parker caught three passes for 42 yards and two touchdowns. Analysis: Outside of tight end Josh Chichester and wide receiver Josh Bellamy, the Cardinals will return all the key components of their passing game. The upcoming bowl game (and practices) should serve as a springboard for this young team. |
| 11/25/2011 | Teddy Bridgewater, QB, LVILLE |
Bridgewater throws 3 TDs in winNews: Louisville freshman quarterback Teddy Bridgewater continued his growth as a quarterback on Friday, throwing for 241 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-24 win over USF. Bridgewater also rushed for 25 yards on eight attempts. Analysis: It's safe to say at this point that Bridgewater will be a star for Louisville. Their regular season is over, and there is a chance that the Cardinals could earn the Big East's BCS bid. |
| 11/25/2011 | Toney Clemons, WR, COLO |
Clemons cracks 100 yards receivingNews: Colorado receiver Toney Clemons didn't make it into the end zone Friday, but he still lead the Buffs in receiving with four catches for 102 yards in the win over Utah. Analysis: With Paul Richardson struggling after coming back from a knee sprain, Clemons has stepped up and been the big play receiver the coaching staff had hoped he'd be when the season started. Another good game for the former Michigan transfer. |
| 11/25/2011 | Tony Jones, RB, COLO |
Jones steps in for Stewart, does wellNews: Colorado running back Tony Jones stepped in for an injured Rodney Stewart and did just fine. | 11/25/2011 | Coleman Petersen, K, UTAH |
Utes K Petersen misses three FGs in lossNews: Utah kicker Coleman Petersen came into Friday's game as one of the Pac-12's best kickers. He left the loss to Colorado with three straight misses, including a 48-yarder with two seconds left that would have put it into overtime. Analysis: What a nightmare game for Petersen, who has been very good this season. It was one of those games that kickers fear -- adjustment after adjustment just delivered negative results. |
| 11/25/2011 | Jon Hays, QB, UTAH |
Hays solid in Utah lossNews: Utah quarterback Jon Hays was solid in the loss to Colorado, hitting on 18-of-25 passes for 185 yards and a score. Analysis: Hays played under control and with great efficiency in the loss to Colorado. As he's done a good portion of the year, he stayed within himself and was effective in the Utah offense. |
| 11/25/2011 | Jordan White, WR, WMICH |
VanTubbergen proves it's the systemNews: Filling in for the injured Alex Carder (shoulder), Western Michigan quarterback Tyler VanTubbergen threw for 252 yards and six touchdowns, and added another score and 60 yards on the ground. Analysis: I guess when Jordan White is your receiver (7-138-2), it doesn't matter who's throwing. Carder should be fine should the Broncos play in a bowl, and is just a junior, but assuming there isn't a regime change, VanTubbergen is a name to remember down the line. |
| 11/25/2011 | Tauni Vakapuna, RB, UTAH |
Vakapuna steps in for Utah running gameNews: Utah running back Tauni Vakapuna stepped in for an injured John White to lead the Utes in rushing Friday, collecting 77 yards on 14 carries and one touchdown. If nothing else, he demonstrated that the Utes have some viable backup options outside of White. |
| 11/25/2011 | Eric Page, WR, TOLEDO |
Eric Page hauls in monsterous 16 passesNews: Toledo wide receiver Eric Page closed out the regular season in style against Ball State, snagging 16 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown. Analysis: We'll blame Page's overall lack of consistency on the quarterback rotation here, but it's his third consecutive 1,100-yard season, and he scored seven, eight and nine times in his three seasons, respectively. There's no reason you shouldn't take him in your bowl challenge, or make him a top wide receiver selection in 2012. |
| 11/25/2011 | Jacory Harris, QB, MIAMI |
Fitting end for Jacory HarrisNews: Miami quarterback Jacory Harris threw for 245 yards and a touchdown while being intercepted four times by Boston College. Analysis: What was nearly a remarkable turnaround season for the senior goes up in smoke in a big way. Harris had just five picks on the season coming in, but reverted to throwing into traffic while refusing to run or check down. ACC defensive coordinators can't be happy J12's career has come to an end. |
| 11/25/2011 | Giovani Bernard, RB, UNC |
Giovani Bernard not listed on injury reportNews: North Carolina running back Giovani Bernard (concussion) was not listed on the team's injury report for Saturday's game against Duke. Analysis: Bernard was cleared for contact earlier in the week and it looks like he'll play after taking a hard hit to the head last Thursday against Virginia Tech. |
| 11/25/2011 | Kevin Fitzpatrick, K, TULSA |
PK Fitzpatrick all-time points leader at TulsaNews: Tulsa kicker Kevin Fitzpatrick became the school's all-time leading scorer in the loss to Houston. Analysis: Fitzpatrick was the best player on the field for Tulsa today, kicking field goals of 36, 51, and 52 yards and is a solid fantasy kicker for bowl pools. |
| 11/25/2011 | Jordan James, WR, TULSA |
WR Jordan James catches 4 in lossNews: Tulsa wide receiver Jordan James led the team in catches with four for 43 yards against Houston. Analysis: For a guy with all the measurableables James has had a quiet 2011, but he is just a sophomore. |
| 11/25/2011 | Willie Carter, RB, TULSA |
Willie Carter returns and scoresNews: Willie Carter returned from an ankle injury to catch four balls for 42 yards and a score against Houston. Analysis: Carter was a question mark until kickoff and was slowed a bit by his ankle injury. He should be ready to go for the Tulsa bowl game. |
| 11/25/2011 | Clay Sears, TE, TULSA |
TE Sears fails to deliver for ownersNews: Tulsa tight end Clay Sears had a quiet game, catching just three balls for 33 yards in the Tulsa loss to Houston. Analysis: Sears disappointed many owners today but had a surprisingly solid 2011 season with 405 yards receiving and six touchdowns. |
| 11/25/2011 | Jaxon Shipley, WR, TEXAS |
Shipley plays, vital in last-second victoryNews: Texas wide receiver Jaxon Shipley was questionable to play all week long against Texas A&M, but he played a big role in the team's win by throwing a 41-yard touchdown pass and also reeling in three catches for 34 yards. Analysis: The Longhorns' instability at quarterback this season led to little production value both at quarterback and at wide receiver for Texas, but Shipley will be a force in the coming years in Austin. |
| 11/25/2011 | Jeff Fuller, WR, TXAM |
Fuller makes impact in last home gameNews: Texas A&M wide receiver Jeff Fuller wanted to make his final game at Kyle Field count and he caught seven passes for 107 yards and a touchdown in the loss to Texas. Meanwhile, top target Ryan Swope was held in check, only catching three balls for 33 yards. Analysis: Fuller has dealt with injuries all year long, so it was nice to see him have such an impact in what could be the last game the Aggies play against the Longhorns in quite some time. |
| 11/25/2011 | Bryce Beall, RB, HOU |
RB Beall virtually MIA in winNews: Bryce Beall played little in Houston's blowout win against Tulsa as he caught just one pass for five yards. Analysis: He did not get a carry and has really cooled off after a hot start. |
| 11/25/2011 | Michael Hayes, RB, HOU |
RB Hayes finds end zone in winNews: Michael Hayes rushed for 36 yards and a score and caught four passes for 44 yards in the Houston win. Analysis: Hayes contributed in a big way and his touchdown sealed the game in the second half. |
| 11/25/2011 | Blake Hammond, TE, WMICH |
Blake Hammond suspended for WMUNews: Western Michigan tight end Blake Hammond and fullback Calvin Smith won't play this afternoon as the Broncos take on the Zips. The pair have been suspended after a fight early Tuesday morning outside a Kalamazoo night club. Analysis: Make sure to pull Hammond out of your lineup. |
| 11/25/2011 | Bryson Beirne, QB, ARIZ |
Nick Foles healing, still not 100 percentNews: Arizona quarterback Nick Foles (ribs) is improving, but he's still not 100 percent. “He’s not bad,” interim coach said Tim Kish said. “I don’t think he’s 100 percent right now. But he’s throwing the ball better today and he’ll throw a little bit more tomorrow. We’re prepared either way. Hopefully, he can get in there a little bit on Saturday, maybe a lot of bit." Analysis: Not exactly a definitive answer on whether Foles will play or be able to play a whole game against Louisiana-Lafayette. But it is Senior Day, so I expect him to give it a go. Look for fellow senior Bryson Beirne to see some snaps as well. |
| 11/25/2011 | Kentucky, DST, KY |
Kentucky short two defendersNews: Kentucky will be without linebacker Ridge Wilson (shoulder) and defensive back Martavius Neloms (ankle) when they take on Tennessee on Saturday. Both are key starters for the Wildcats. Analysis: This certainly doesn't hurt the fantasy value of Tennessee receiver Da'Rick Rogers, running back Tauren Poole or quarterback Tyler Bray. |
| 11/23/2011 | Marc Tyler, RB, USC |
McNeal leaves practice, knee will get lookNews: USC running back Curtis McNeal had to leave Wednesday's practice early and will have his knee examined. Analysis: McNeal has emerged as a bonafide running back option for USC. No word on his status for the UCLA game, but it looks like Marc Tyler could see an increase in touches if McNeal is less than ideal. |
| 11/23/2011 | Marqise Lee, WR, USC |
Woods, Lee top WR duoNews: USC receivers Robert Woods and Marqise Lee have become the nation's top receiver duo with 2,098 yards through 11 games. They are also tops in combined scores with 22 touchdowns. Analysis: Lee has been phenomenal as a freshman and been a very welcome bookend to Woods, who started the year on fire, but has been dealing with some nagging injuries of late. Woods was limited in practice this week, but should be ready to go against UCLA |
| 11/23/2011 | Jackson Bouza, WR, CAL |
WR Bouza finally making an impactNews: California receiver Jackson Bouza got his first two catches of the season last week against Stanford and quarterback Zach Maynard said the youngster has really come on. Analysis: Bouza missed the first month of the season with a broken finger, but has consistently demonstrated the ability to get separation from defensive backs. It's been a struggle to get back up to speed after missing that much time. |
| 11/23/2011 | John Harris, WR, TEXAS |
WR Harris will miss last two gamesNews: Texas wide receiver John Harris, who has been out since September with a broken foot, will miss the final two regular season games but could still return for the bowl game, this according to head coach Mack Brown. Analysis: Harris, a redshirt freshman, started early in the year for the Longhorns, but this injury has kept him sidelined for awhile. He is still someone with a lot of upside and could blossom into a nice player for Texas in the future. |
| 11/23/2011 | Dee Hart, RB, BAMA |
Dee Hart back at practice for TideNews: Alabama running back Demetrius Hart has returned to practice after tearing his ACL during the spring. There had also been speculation following his short departure from the program to deal with a personal issue. Analysis: Hart will not see the field this season but should make a huge impact next year, especially if Trent Richardson heads to the NFL. |
| 11/23/2011 | Louisville, DST, LOU |
B.J. Daniels questionable vs. LouisvilleNews: South Florida quarterback B.J. Daniels' MRI revealed a bruised AC joint in right (throwing) shoulder. His availability for this week's game against Louisville is up in the air. Daniels did not practice on Tuesday. Analysis: If Daniels is unable to play, Bobby Eveld, will take over. Eveld is no stranger to filling in for Daniels, but he's certainly not as much of an offensive threat as B.J. |
| 11/23/2011 | Ronnie Tyler, WR, MD |
Ronnie Tyler won't play at NCSTNews: Maryland wide receiver Ronnie Tyler (academics) won't make the trip to Raleigh this weekend, according to head coach Randy Edsall. Analysis: His absence should give teammates Kevin Dorsey and Quintin McCree more looks. Both of those have been reasonably productive, and I'd expect one of them to have a solid 70-90 yards and a score. I just don't know which one. |
| 11/23/2011 | Stephen Hill, WR, GATECH |
"No way" Stephen Hill sits against UGANews: Georgia Tech wide receiver Stephen Hill (back) didn't practice Tuesday, but is expected to do so Wednesday as he prepares to play in-state rival Georgia. Analysis: Hill seems pretty jazzed about playing the Bulldogs, so expect him to see his normal deep ball opportunities. He's always risky, but he can always go 2-110-2 as well. How lucky are you feeling Saturday? |
| 11/23/2011 | Charles Perkins, RB, GATECH |
Preston Lyons expected back for JacketsNews: Georgia Tech B-Back Preston Lyons (various, undisclosed) will play Saturday against Georgia, according to head coach Paul Johnson. Analysis: It sounds like Lyons sat out last week against Duke while nursing various injuries, and also give third string B-Back Charles Perkins some carries. Lyons will share reps with David Sims this week, so don't expect Sims to find the endzone multiple times against the Bulldogs. |
| 11/23/2011 | Orwin Smith, RB, GATECH |
Orwin Smith says he'll playNews: Georgia Tech A-Back Orwin Smith (toe) was back at practice Tuesday, going full speed after missing last week's game against Duke. Analysis: Smith says he "limped around a couple of times," but doesn't seem worried about his status for this week against Georgia. He's been in a pretty big slump lately, so you're really taking a leap of faith if you consider starting him. |
| 11/23/2011 | Matt Hogan, K, HOU |
PK Hogan keeps setting record markNews: Last week, Houston kicker Matt Hogan set the NCAA record for most PAT conversions without a miss in a season with 78. Analysis: Hogan enters the game at Tulsa ranked No. 1 in the league in scoring with 108 points (10 field goals, 78 extra points). He is a sure fire PK1 in every format. |
| 11/23/2011 | Blake Frohnapfel, QB, MRSHL |
Marshall backup QB a true freshmanNews: The Marshall backup quarterback this week will be Blake Frohnapfel, a true freshman. Analysis: Frohnapfel may indeed get some snaps as the team may want to see what they have in their season finale. He is obviously not a fantasy option but a name for the future. |
| 11/23/2011 | Alex Torres, WR, TXTECH |
Torn ACL for Alex TorresNews: The extent or Texas Tech receiver Alex Torres' knee injury is now known. Torres has a torn ACL. Analysis: That should keep him out of spring ball and probably much of summer camp. Putting his availability for the start of the 2012 season in jeopardy. |
| 11/23/2011 | Carlton Thomas, RB, UGA |
Crowell and Thomas expected backNews: Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo expects running backs Isaiah Crowell (ankle) and Carlton Thomas (suspension) to play this weekend. However, head coach Mark Richt was less sure in his press conference Tuesday stating, "I don’t know who is going to start." Analysis: Possibly some gamesmanship going on here, but it doesn't look like UGA running backs can be trusted this week. Including Brandon Harton, who had some fumble issues against Kentucky. |
| 11/23/2011 | Mika'il McCall, RB, IOWA |
Iowa suspends Mika'il McCallNews: Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz has suspended freshman running back Mika'il McCall for Friday's game with Nebraska for a violation of team rules. It also sounds like he could miss the bowl game as well. Analysis: Marcus Coker will continue to serve as the Hawkeye workhorse, and McCall's longterm future in Iowa City comes into question as well. |
| 11/22/2011 | Zach Ertz, TE, STNFRD |
Ertz 50-50 on playing against IrishNews: Stanford coach David Shaw said that tight end Zach Ertz is still 50-50 whether he'll play this weekend against Notre Dame. Ertz suffered a knee injury on the opening kickoff against USC and has been out since. Analysis: Ertz did practice a bit Tuesday, though Shaw said he didn't go through all the drills. We'll see if Stanford's formidable tight end array gets an extra weapon this week. |
| 11/22/2011 | Chris Owusu, WR, STNFRD |
Owusu's concussion will keep him out againNews: Stanford receiver Chris Owusu will not play this weekend against Notre Dame due to the lingering effects of a concussion. The team's second-leading receiver (35-376) could be cleared to play in the team's bowl game, however, according to coach David Shaw. Analysis: Owusu just can't shake the injury bug. As you can tell by his receiving yardage, he's not been the big play weapon the coaching staff imagined he would be this season. It's been a tough 2011 for Owusu. |
| 11/22/2011 | Richard Brehaut, QB, UCLA |
Brehaut's status uncertain, Crissman gets repsNews: UCLA quarterback Richard Brehaut's availability for Saturday's game is uncertain. Brehaut has been mending from a broken leg a month ago and coach Rick Neuheisel said he won't back up starter Kevin Prince unless he's healthy. Analysis: In anticipation of Brehaut not being ready, Nick Crissman has been taking the second-team snaps and has been working with the first-teamers a bit. At this point, it's Prince as the starter and most likely a game-time decision on whether Brehaut can go or not. |
| 11/22/2011 | Keshawn Martin, WR, MICHST |
Keith Mumphery a Spartan WR to watch?News: Michigan State will lose plenty of receptions and touchdowns when B.J. Cunningham and Keshawn Martin move on, however names to watch for 2012 appear to be redshirt freshman Keith Mumphery and true freshie Andre Sims. Analysis: In addition to Joe Rexrode at the Lansing State Journal, there have been rumblings out of practice that Mumphery is ready to make a move next year. And Sims, a burner out of Georgia, may possess the ability as a "playmaker" in the Martin mold. |
| 11/22/2011 | Melvin Gordon, RB, WISC |
Badger Melvin Gordon will redshirtNews: Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon will take a medical redshirt due to a groin injury that has kept him on the shelf for much of the season. Analysis: This is good news (well, except for the hurt groin thing) as Gordon has all the makings of following in the footsteps of great Badger backs. Depending on what happens with Montee Ball, who could declare early, Gordon could make a big splash as early as 2012. |
| 11/22/2011 | Cierre Wood, RB, ND |
Will Theo Riddick switch to RB?News: With the season-ending injury to Jonas Gray, Theo Riddick could move from receiver to running back to help out Cierre Wood. “We’ll sit down as a staff and see what Theo is able to do physically and then decide whether he can go into a running back position and help us out." coach Brian Kelly said. Analysis: Riddick hasn't played the last two weeks due to a hamstring injury. But if he's able to play, look for him to get some carries this weekend against Stanford. |
| 11/22/2011 | David Graves, QB, HAWAII |
David Graves named Hawaii starting QBNews: David Graves has been named Hawaii's starting quarterback for this week's contest against Tulane. Graves relieved Shane Austin in the second quarter last Saturday against Fresno State and rallied the team with three scores. "He brought different energy," offensive coordinator Nick Rolovich said. "He brought some confidence. There was no doubt we had a chance to win a game when he came in." Analysis: We've been talking about Graves being the future of Hawaii football for the last few seasons, well that future is apparently now. He's a solid pickup this week if you are looking for some quarterback help. |
| 11/21/2011 | Darius Hanks, WR, BAMA |
Darius Hanks back at practiceNews: Alabama wide receiver Darius Hanks has returned to practice after being held out with an ankle injury. Analysis: When the Tide face Auburn in the Iron Bowl this weekend, they will need all of their targets on the field for A.J. McCarron, so Hanks' return is a welcome one. |
| 11/21/2011 | Aaron Crawford, RB, TXTECH |
Crawford's ankle x-ray negativeNews: Texas Tech running back Aaron Crawford said that the x-ray on his ankle was negative after suffering a high ankle sprain Saturday. He also said he should be ready to go this week. Analysis: Crawford was one of several Red Raiders who went down with injury this week against Missouri, so it's promising to hear that he should be alright to play. |
| 11/21/2011 | Marlin Lane, RB, TENN |
Marlin Lane dealing with shoulder injuryNews: Tennessee running back Marlin Lane missed Saturday's game against Vanderbilt as he is recovering from a shoulder injury. Analysis: Lane has shown signs of things to come but has been hampered by the team's inability to run block. |
| 11/21/2011 | Malcolm Beyah, WR, MTSU |
D.D. Kyles, Malcolm Beyah miss ASU gameNews: Middle Tennessee was without two of their top players against Arkansas State as running back D.D. Kyles and receiver Malcolm Beyah did not participate due to knee injuries. Analysis: With all the quarterback woes, the Blue Raiders really need Beyah and Kyles back to help out whoever is taking the snaps. |
| 11/21/2011 | Jake Medlock, QB, FIU |
Jake Medlock injured against ULMNews: Florida International quarterback Jake Medlock injured his shoulder against Louisiana-Monroe which led to Wesley Carroll taking over the rest of the game. Analysis: Medlock is clearly the future of the program as the coaching staff has started to phase him in over Carroll but it is not known what his status is for the Golden Panther's game against Middle Tennessee. |
| 11/21/2011 | Dwayne Frampton, WR, ARKST |
Dwayne Frampton good to go against TroyNews: After collecting 10 receptions against Middle Tennessee, Arkansas State receiver Dwayne Frampton got a bit dinged up but will be ready to go against Troy. Analysis: Frampton is not the biggest guy but is thickly built and will be needed against Troy if the Red Wolves are going to win the conference outright. |
| 11/21/2011 | Chuckie Keeton, QB, UTAHST |
QB Keeton good to go against Nevada?News: Utah State quarterback Chuckie Keeton missed his second straight game in Week 12 due to a back injury but is expected to make a return to the lineup on Saturday against Nevada. Analysis: The offense misses Keeton and the talented signal caller should have a nice game against Nevada. |
| 11/21/2011 | Gavin Escobar, TE, SDGST |
TE Willson still questionable for RiceNews: Tight end Luke Willson did not play in Week 12 against Tulane due to an ankle injury and remains questionable for Saturday's game against SMU. Analysis: At this point you have to find a safer option at TE. Look at San Diego State's Gavin Escobar as a potential TE target to use. |
| 11/21/2011 | Spencer Keith, QB, KENTST |
QB Spencer Keith likely to play vs. TempleNews: Kent State quarterback Spencer Keith suffered a neck injury in Week 12 against Eastern Michigan but is expected to play Friday against Temple. Analysis: Keith is a good quarterback but not a solid option against a tough Temple defense. |
| 11/21/2011 | Reggie Bullock, RB, ECU |
Reggie Bullock out for the seasonNews: ECU running back Reggie Bullock will miss the remainder of the season as he battles a thigh injury. Analysis: Tough break for ECU, but Torrance Hunt should continue to start. |
| 11/21/2011 | Michael Dobson, RB, ECU |
RB Michael Dobson battling concussionNews: ECU running back Michael Dobson is battling a concussion and is considered questionable for Saturday's game against Marshall. Analysis: Do not consider Dobson for your lineups this week, as Torrance Hunt should get another start. |
| 11/21/2011 | Brynn Harvey, RB, UCF |
RB Harvey questionable to face UTEPNews: UCF running back Brynn Harvey did not play in Week 12 against East Carolina due to an undisclosed injury and remains questionable for Friday's game against UTEP. Analysis: Latavius Murray is the clear starter now, so drop Harvey in all formats. |
| 11/21/2011 | Matt Schilz, QB, BGREEN |
BGSU QB Schilz injures kneeNews: Bowling Green QB Matt Schilz suffered a knee injury in Week 12 against Ohio and is considered questionable for Friday's game against Buffalo. Analysis: Find a safer option as you enter championship week. |
| 11/21/2011 | Tulsa, DST, TLS |
Tulsa OT Burnett tears ACLNews: Tulsa offensive lineman Stetson Burnett tore his ACL in the win against UTEP. Analysis: Tough blow for the Tulsa offensive line and this is a big injury before the Houston game this week. This should not knock down any value of the Tulsa skill position players however. |
| 11/21/2011 | Danny Webster, WR, ECU |
Waiver Wire Alert: WR Reese WigginsNews: With injuries to Danny Webster and Lance Lewis, Reese Wiggins, who caught two touchdowns last weekend, is suddenly a solid option this week against Marshall. Analysis: One of Wiggins' touchdowns was an 84-yard score so he has big play ability. Add him if you need a wideout for your title game. |
| 11/21/2011 | Zico Pasut, WR, ECU |
Converted WR Pasut makes impactNews: Converted receiver Zico Pasut set career-highs with 11 carries and 28 yards last weekend. Analysis: He does not look like an option this week against Marshall, but with injuries riddling the offense, he may see another 11 carries this week. |
| 11/20/2011 | Derek Carr, QB, FRESNO |
43 touches in huge day for RouseNews: Fresno State running back Robbie Rouse had a huge day with a whopping 37 carries for 176 yards and a score while adding six catches for 51 yards. Analysis: Rouse is finishing his junior season on a tear and is a must start against San Jose State. Rouse should be a top running back pick next season as the Bulldog offense continues to mature with Derek Carr at the helm. |
| 11/20/2011 | Rishard Matthews, WR, NEVADA |
Matthews continues to haul in catchesNews: Nevada's offense was slowed down by Louisiana Tech, but that didn't stop wide receiver Rishard Matthews from catching 8 balls for 87 yards and a score. Analysis: Matthews is clearly Fajardo's favorite target and has two great matchups to finish the season. |
| 11/20/2011 | Kenjon Barner, RB, OREG |
RB Barner jump-starts Duck rushing gameNews: Oregon backup running back Kenjon Barner had a huge game in the loss to USC, rushing for 123 yards and two scores on 15 carries Saturday. Analysis: Barner really jump-started the Ducks running game in the second half and again confirmed that Oregon has one of the best backup running backs in the nation. |
| 11/20/2011 | Darron Thomas, QB, OREG |
QB Thomas puts together solid outing in lossNews: Oregon quarterback Darron Thomas was accurate, but struggled to find open receivers in the end zone. Thomas was 23 of 35 for 265 yards, but only one score in the loss to USC. Analysis: Thomas made some big-time throws in this one, but also felt some pressure from the Trojan defense. Thomas needs to take a long look at using his legs a little more, a skill he has in abundance, but doesn't exercise often enough to punish a defense for keying on the read option. |
| 11/20/2011 | Lennon Creer, RB, LATECH |
LATC run game non-existant without CreerNews: With Lennon Creer day to day with an ankle injury, running back Hunter Lee was expected to fill the gap for Louisiana Tech. However, the Bulldogs only had 16 total rushing attempts for 57 yards. Analysis: With New Mexico State's defense that is giving up more than 200 yards rushing a game up next, Creer would make an excellent start if he is healthy. If Creer is unable to go, Lee would be worth a flier with such a juicy matchup. |
| 11/20/2011 | Colby Cameron, QB, LATECH |
Cameron and Patton come up big in winNews: Louisiana Tech quarterback Colby Cameron continued his incredible run leading the Bulldogs to a huge 4th quarter comeback victory against Nevada. He threw for 355 yards and three scores Analysis: Cameron hooked up early and often with his favorite target, wide receiver Quinton Patton, who finished with 162 yards and a score. Both are excellent starts against a juicy New Mexico State defense next week. |
| 11/20/2011 | Kriss Proctor, QB, NAVY |
Proctor struggles throwing in lossNews: Navy quarterback Kriss Proctor was solid rushing the ball with 20 carries for 82 yards and two scores, but was unable to throw the ball down the field with any success. Analysis: Even if your league allows playing Proctor in the December 10 matchup against Army, don't expect huge numbers as Proctor has been very inconsistent all season. |
| 11/20/2011 | Ryan Otten, TE, SJST |
TE Otten tops 100 in winNews: San Jose State tight end Ryan Otten had another solid game in the win against Navy, catching 8 balls for 101 yards. Analysis: Otten is a must0start against Fresno State in the final game of the season for the Spartans. |
| 11/20/2011 | Brandon Rutley, RB, SJST |
Rutley tops 100 on ground and airNews: San Jose State running back Brandon Rutley had a huge game, rushing for 132 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries while adding 101 yards on 8 catches. Analysis: Rutley has struggled a bit over the past month, but the touches continue to be there. He should be a solid start against Fresno State to end the season. |
| 11/20/2011 | James Vandenberg, QB, IOWA |
Vandenberg to McNutt huge in winNews: Iowa quarterback James Vandenberg threw for 273 yards and three touchdowns, two of them to Marvin McNutt (151 yards receiving) in the win over Purdue. Analysis: It's been a great connection all season. McNutt has now gone over 100 yards receiving in five consecutive games, while Vandenberg has just five interceptions on the season. |
| 11/20/2011 | Donovonn Young, RB, ILL |
Donovonn Young gives a glimpseNews: Illinois freshman running back Donovonn Young rushed eight times for 43 yards and two touchdowns against Wisconsin. Analysis: Whoever ends up coaching at Illinois next year has a nice building block in place with Young. Keep him on your radar for next year. |
| 11/20/2011 | Taylor Martinez, QB, NEB |
Taylor Martinez has a rough dayNews: Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez was just nine of 23 passing and was held to 171 total yards and just one score against Michigan. Analysis: Martinez has had a very disappointing second half of the season. He has just five total touchdowns over the last five games, and hasn't rushed for a score since 10/8 against Ohio State. |
| 11/20/2011 | Markus Wheaton, WR, OREGST |
Wheaton leads Beavers in rushing, receivingNews: Oregon State receiver Markus Wheaton led the Beavers in both rushing and receiving Saturday. Wheaton had three carries for 66 yards and caught seven passes for 125 yards. Analysis: The only blemish for Wheaton was that he wasn't able to get into the end zone. It's clear that Wheaton is now the Beavers main gun and that getting the ball in his hands has become a priority. |
| 11/20/2011 | Malcolm Agnew, RB, OREGST |
RB Stevenson hammers in three scoresNews: Oregon State running back Jovan Stevenson had his biggest day as a Beaver, scoring three times in the win over Washington. Stevenson had 10 carries for 41 yards and scored on runs of 3, 15 and 1 yards in the fourth quarter. Analysis: With Malcolm Agnew a late scratch, Stevenson got a chance to contribute and really showed a nose for the goal line. |
| 11/20/2011 | Nick Montana, QB, WASH |
Kearse forgotten in Huskies loss to OSUNews: Washington's top receiver, Jermaine Kearse, was invisible Saturday against Oregon State, catching one pass for 10 yards. Analysis: Starter Nick Montana had tons of trouble completing even intermediate zone passes, let alone stretching the field horizontally with Kearse. One of the Pac-12's best receivers was kind of wasted in a game the Huskies needed to win. |
| 11/20/2011 | Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, WASH |
Frosh TE Seferian-Jenkins cashes twiceNews: Washington tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins was the hot receiver in Saturday's loss to Oregon State, catching six passes for 40 yards and scoring twice. Analysis: Seferian-Jenkins is an intriguing bundle of talent -- fast, big, great hands and athletic as heck -- and he has re-emerged in the offense after disappearing for a spell at mid-season. |
| 11/20/2011 | Joseph Fauria, TE, UCLA |
TE Fauria catches 2 scores in winNews: UCLA tight end Joe Fauria was a killer Saturday, catching touchdown passes of 5 and 15 yards in the win over Colorado. In all, he had five catches for 49 yards in the game. Analysis: It looks like Fauria is being targeted more in the offense. He's got nine catches in the last two games, his best two-game stretch of the season. |
| 11/20/2011 | Nelson Rosario, WR, UCLA |
Rosario leads Bruins Wr's with 6 catchesNews: UCLA receiver Nelson Rosario was a key receiving component Saturday, catching six passes for 102 yards in the win over Colorado. Analysis: Rosario did a great job of getting open Saturday against Colorado's patchwork secondary. He's a quality receiver who, when the quarterback play is solid, is a very productive receiver. |
| 11/20/2011 | Derrick Coleman, RB, UCLA |
Franklin carves up Buffs defense for 162 yardsNews: UCLA running back Johnathan Franklin went Thanksgiving on the Colorado defense -- carving them up one side and down the other on his way to 162 yards rushing on 15 carries. Fellow back Derrick Coleman had 54 yards on 11 totes. Analysis: Franklin started fast and just kept rolling. As you can see, though, he did it in a small amount of carries and fellow back Coleman added 11 and quarterback Kevin Prince added 10 carries of his own. There aren't that many carries roaming around out there, so Franklin (and Coleman) will have to do their damage on about 15 carries a game -- depending on who has the hot hand. On Saturday, it was Franklin. |
| 11/20/2011 | Bobby Ratliff, WR, WASHST |
Frosh WR Ratliff has big day in lossNews: Washington State freshman receiver Bobby Ratliff had a big game Saturday, catching four passes for 97 yards and a score. Analysis: A nice performance from a player who hasn't done much this season. Perhaps a reminder that there will be quality receivers running around the Palouse next year, too. |
| 11/20/2011 | DeVonte Christopher, WR, UTAH |
Christopher re-emerges with five catches, 83 yardsNews: Utah receiver DeVonte Christopher got back in the groove Saturday, collecting five catches for 83 yards in the win over Washington State. Analysis: Christopher has been somewhat quiet after coming back from injury, but in the cold and snowy conditions of the Palouse, he came through with key catches. |
| 11/20/2011 | Gino Crump, WR, ARIZ |
Crump snags six, key score in fourth QtrNews: Arizona receiver Gino Crump continues his productive play, catching six passes for 69 yards and a key fourth quarter touchdown in the win over Arizona State. Analysis: Crump has proven yet again that he's become a favorite target of quarterback Nick Foles. He was incredibly valuable in Saturday's win. |
| 11/20/2011 | DeAndre Washington, RB, TXTECH |
Mizzou turf claims multiple Red RaidersNews: Texas Tech running back DeAndre Washington and wide receiver Alex Torres both suffered significant knee injuries at Missouri and are done for the season. Running back Aaron Crawford also suffered an injury to his ankle, but it wasn't deemed to be serious. Analysis: Over the past two weeks, the Missouri turf has seemed to contribute to several season-ending knee injuries. It might be time to make a change or else this type of thing could become regular...and SEC teams won't put up with it. |
| 11/20/2011 | James Franklin, QB, MIZZOU |
Franklin leads Pinkel-less Tigers to victoryNews: Without head coach Gary Pinkel on the sidelines, quarterback James Franklin took matters into his own hands. Franklin threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 152 yards and two more scores in a win over Texas Tech. Analysis: With the win, the Tigers become bowl eligible and Franklin grows that much more as a quarterback in what is only his sophomore season. |
| 11/20/2011 | Will Randolph, RB, TXAM |
Randolph gets redshirt pulled with Gray outNews: Texas A&M freshman running back Will Randolph had his redshirt removed with the team up 61-0 against Kansas. Analysis: Perhaps this means Gray's injury is serious enough to keep him out for at least a game or two because Randolph would then be one of three backs on the active roster. |
| 11/20/2011 | Steele Jantz, QB, IOWAST |
Barnett does enough to lead upset of PokesNews: Iowa State quarterback Jared Barnett had 460 total yards and three touchdowns while also throwing two picks in an upset win over Oklahoma State. Analysis: Ever since making the switch from Steele Jantz to Barnett at quarterback, the Cyclones have had more life and are now bowl eligible. |
| 11/20/2011 | Josh Cooper, WR, OKLAST |
Cooper, Blackmon and Moore each have a TDNews: Oklahoma State wide receivers Josh Cooper (128 yards), Justin Blackmon (99 yards) and Tracy Moore (96 yards) each scored a touchdown in the loss to Iowa State on Friday. Analysis: These are the games fantasy owners expected Cooper to have more of, and Blackmon just barely missed out on another 100-yard performance. |
| 11/20/2011 | Brandon Weeden, QB, OKLAST |
Interceptions trouble Weeden in defeatNews: Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden probably just saw himself slip out of Heisman contention as he threw three interceptions in the overtime loss to Iowa State. He also threw for three touchdowns and 476 yards in all. Analysis: Some of the interceptions were not Weeden's fault, but losing, and in such heartbreaking fashion, to the Cyclones will more than likely take him and his team out of contention for the Heisman and the title game respectively. |
| 11/20/2011 | Brennan Clay, RB, OKLA |
Finch leaves game, Williams replaces himNews: Oklahoma running back Roy Finch left the game against Baylor in the third quarter with an injury and was replaced by Brandon Williams. Finch had 95 yards rushing on the night. Analysis: Brennan Clay also saw some time for the Sooners, but the freshman Williams had more success in Finch's place. |
| 11/20/2011 | Blake Bell, QB, OKLA |
Jones gives way to Bell for touchdownsNews: Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones failed to throw a touchdown pass against Baylor, but accounted for 447 yards through the air. It was backup Blake Bell who scored - four times in fact - as part of the goal line offense the Sooners have used recently. Analysis: As crazy as it sounds, Bell actually is a legitimate fantasy option at quarterback. He had over 25 points, which is more than Jones had. |
| 11/20/2011 | Zack Stoudt, QB, MISS |
Barry Brunetti to start in Egg BowlNews: After coming in to relieve Zack Stoudt and rushing for 74 yards against LSU, Ole Miss quarterback Barry Brunetti has earned the starting job against Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl. Analysis: Both teams are terrible but Brunetti is still not worth a start. However, look for this youngster to do some good things next year depending on what the offense will look like under the new coaching regime. |
| 11/20/2011 | Randall Mackey, QB, MISS |
Barry Brunetti sees action against LSUNews: With Randall Mackey suspended and Zack Stoudt ineffective against LSU, Ole Miss turned to Barry Brunetti who provided a bit of a spark. Brunetti finished the game with 30 passing yards and 74 rushing yards. Analysis: Brunetti is the future of the program so maybe it was good that he was baptized by fire against the Tigers. |
| 11/20/2011 | Alfred Blue, RB, LSU |
LSU rushes for over 300 yards in winNews: LSU rode the legs of its deep backfield to the tune of 353 rushing yards and four touchdowns to down Ole Miss. Alfred Blue led the team with 74 yards, Spencer Ware carried the load with 70 yards and a score, and Michael Ford added 50 yards and another touchdown. Freshman Kenny Hilliard also chipped in for 59 yards and a touchdown. Analysis: LSU will not be able to do that against Arkansas next week, but Ware should be a decent RB3 start. |
| 11/20/2011 | Chris Gragg, TE, ARK |
Chris Gragg goes off on BulldogsNews: Mississippi State had no answer against Arkansas tight end Chris Gragg as he caught eight passes for 119 yards and a score. Analysis: Gragg has not been a really consistent target this season so treat this as an anomaly and don't start him against LSU. |
| 11/20/2011 | Dennis Johnson, RB, ARK |
Hogs use 3-headed rushing attackNews: Arkansas running back Dennis Johnson had a solid outing against Mississippi State with 98 yards, but was joined by Ronnie Wingo and Broderick Green. Wingo and Green combined for 68 yards and a score. Analysis: Johnson is still the main rusher but with Green stealing goal line carries. With this pass-happy offense Johnson is definitely not worth playing against LSU. |
| 11/20/2011 | Andre Debose, WR, FLA |
Andre Debose gets verticalNews: Florida's top deep threat Andre Debose showed off his wheels against Furman as he finished the win with three catches for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Analysis: Debose has shown the abilty to go deep on any team but is far too inconsistent to start in any league. |
| 11/20/2011 | Raymond Sanders, RB, UK |
Kentucky offense continues to stinkNews: The offensive woes of Kentucky did not get any better against Georgia as quarterback Maxwell Smith passed for 133 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. The ground game was led by Raymond Sanders who mustered a meager 37 yards. Analysis: Next year Smith is a name to watch, but there are no signs of life around Lexington right now. |
| 11/20/2011 | Marcus Lattimore, RB, SC |
Brandon Wilds brutalizes The CitadelNews: South Carolina running back Brandon Wilds continued his punishing ways as he rushed for 109 yards and two scores against The Citadel while also adding 55 yards receiving. Analysis: Wilds has been a solid performer since Marcus Lattimore went down but is a cautious play next week against Clemson. |
| 11/20/2011 | James Hamilton, RB, NTEXAS |
QB Thompson performs despite no ground gameNews: North Texas running back Lance Dunbar was bottled up by Western Kentucky, but quarterback Derek Thompson still managed to throw for 254 yards and two touchdowns. Analysis: Thompson is not going to set the world on fire but his presence as a passer will make things easier for Dunbar and James Hamilton on the ground. |
| 11/20/2011 | Kawaun Jakes, QB, WKY |
Kawaun Jakes shows off his armNews: Everyone knows that Western Kentucky can run, but against North Texas quarterback Kawaun Jakes showed of his passing skills with 231 yards and three scores. Analysis: As long as Willie Taggart is the coach in Bowling Green, the quarterback will always play second fiddle to the tailback. |
| 11/20/2011 | Jyruss Edwards, RB, LAMON |
Jyruss Edwards locked downNews: After scoring six rushing touchdowns in the last two weeks, Louisiana-Monroe running back Jyruss Edwards ran three times for zero yards against Florida International. Edwards did lead his team in receiving though, with five catches for 48 yards. Analysis: Edwards likely burned a lot of people with this performance, but you might want to still consider him next week against Florida Atlantic. |
| 11/20/2011 | Kolton Browning, QB, LAMON |
Kolton Browning rushes for over 100 yardsNews: Louisiana-Monroe quarterback Kolton Browning had a rough day passing with 246 yards and two picks but made up for it with 101 yards rushing and a score. Analysis: Browning is another good dual-threat Sun Belt quarterback who is worth a look next week against Florida Atlantic. |
| 11/20/2011 | Eric Thomas, WR, TROY |
Eric Thomas erupts against FAUNews: All season Troy receiver Eric Thomas has been the team's top target, but because of Corey Robinson's ability to distribute the ball, he has never put up gaudy numbers until this weekend. Against Florida Atlantic, Thomas had six catches for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Analysis: I would not expect this type of performance next week against Arkansas State so look for another starting option. |
| 11/20/2011 | DeVier Posey, WR, OHIOST |
Braxton puts up fantasy points againNews: Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller had 188 yards of total offense with two touchdowns (one rushing) against Penn State. Analysis: Miller rushed for 105 and threw for 83 yards (66 of those yards went to DeVier Posey). |
| 11/20/2011 | Silas Redd, RB, PSU |
Silas Redd effective, shares timeNews: Penn State running back Silas Redd (shoulder) carried just eight times against Ohio State, but did so for 63 yards. Analysis: Penn State took it easy on Redd and let Stephfon Green carry the bulk of the workload. |
| 11/20/2011 | Ryan Hewitt, FB, STNFRD |
Stanford tight ends come up huge in winNews: Stanford's tight ends struck again Saturday. Ryan Hewitt and Levine Toilolo each caught a touchdown pass in the third quarter as the Cardinal took control en route to the win over California. Hewitt had seven catches for 64 yards while Toilolo had three catches for 50 yards. Oh, by the way, starting tight end Coby Fleener didn't score, but had another four catches for 64 yards. Analysis: A week after the tight ends were only marginally used against Oregon, they were back to their normal involvement against California. Amazing to see such a strong group of tight ends on one team -- and it's obvious quarterback Andrew Luck targets them often. |
| 11/20/2011 | Bernard Pierce, RB, TEMPLE |
Temple backfield keeps on churningNews: Temple running back Bernard Pierce (questionable, concussion) led the way against Army, finishing with 157 yards and three touchdowns. Analysis: Luckily for us, and those who probably played it safe with Pierce, "starter" Matt Brown went for 133 yards and two touchdowns. Next week's opponent, Kent State, ranks 20th nationally in stopping the run, giving up just 114.3 yards per game. I wouldn't let that stop you from starting Pierce to bring home your league crown. |
| 11/20/2011 | Branden Oliver, RB, BUFF |
Branden Oliver dissects AkronNews: Buffalo running back Branden Oliver gashed lowly Akron for a career-high 235 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries. Analysis: Oliver has been one of the better finds of 2011. For comparison sake, he had just 260 yards in all of 2010. He's got 12 touchdowns on the year, but oddly has failed to score in five of the Bulls' 11 games to date. That'll make him a bit risky next week against Bowling Green, but I'd lean towards starting him rather than sitting him. |
| 11/20/2011 | Perry Jones, RB, UVA |
Perry Jones just keeps finding ways to scoreNews: Virginia running back Perry Jones was limited to 14 yards on eight carries against a stout Florida State defense, but he hauled in nine passes for 62 yards and a score. Analysis: He's up to 1,286 total yards and eight scores this season, and I'd have a hard time benching him next week against Virginia Tech. |
| 11/20/2011 | Mike Glennon, QB, NCST |
Three touchdown passes for Mike GlennonNews: North Carolina State quarterback Mike Glennon threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns against Clemson. Analysis: He had just one touchdown in his previous three games, but makes a sneaky play next week if you are desperate for a second or third quarterback option. The Wolfpack need a victory to gain bowl eligibility, and play an awful Maryland defense. |
| 11/20/2011 | Orville Reynolds, RB, WAKE |
Brandon Pendergrass shines againNews: Wake Forest running back Brandon Pendergrass ran for 125 yards and a touchdown against Maryland. Analysis: Another impressive performance for Wake's newly labeled starter. This speaks as much to Maryland's horrid rush defense as anything, as freshman Orville Reynolds gained 63 yards on 11 carries. Still, Josh Harris remains out and Pendergrass is in a groove. He's an interesting option next week against Vanderbilt. |
| 11/20/2011 | C.J. Brown, QB, MD |
C.J. Brown chalks up yards, not scoresNews: Maryland quarterback C.J. Brown had 186 yards passing and 110 yards rushing against Wake Forest, but managed just one touchdown. Analysis: He completed 20 of 42 passes, a number that is going to have to improve in order for him to keep defenses honest. Despite his dual threat capabilities, he isn't recommended next week against a surging N.C. State defense that needs one win for bowl eligibility. |
| 11/20/2011 | Sean Renfree, QB, DUKE |
Sean Renfree erupts for four touchdownsNews: Duke quarterback Sean Renfree threw for 250 yards and four touchdowns against Georgia Tech. Analysis: It's about time. Renfree had just eight scoring passes on the year coming in, and most folks probably gave up on him weeks ago. Despite the recent spike in production, he isn't recommended against North Carolina next week. |
| 11/20/2011 | Embry Peeples, RB, GATECH |
Orwin Smith should be back vs. GeorgiaNews: Georgia Tech A-Back Orwin Smith (foot) is expected to return next week against Georgia. Analysis: Smith has been slumping, and sat out yesterday against Duke. In his absence, Embry Peeples shined as the "next man up," finishing with 64 yards receiving and a touchdown, and 46 yards on one reception. |
| 11/19/2011 | Joshua Reese, WR, UCF |
Josh Reece becomes TD weapon for UCFNews: Wide receiver Josh Reece caught four balls for 51 yards and a score in the loss to ECU. Analysis: Reece is a good talent but one that will struggle for solid value. |
| 11/19/2011 | Ronnie Weaver, RB, UCF |
RB Weaver clearly 2nd option for UCFNews: Running back Ronnie Weaver had just three carries for nine yards in the teams loss to ECU. Analysis: Weaver is clearly behind Latavius Murray on the depth chart and holds no value. |
| 11/19/2011 | Tyler Smith, QB, MD |
Tyler Smith goes for 145 with 2 TD in winNews: Rice running back Tyler Smith dominated Tulane rushing for 145 yards and two touchdowns while also catching seven passes for 42 yards in the win. Analysis: Smith is a beast right now and is a must start RB2 against SMU next week. |
| 11/19/2011 | Xavier Rush, WR, TULANE |
Xavier Rush finds end zone in lossNews: Xavier Rush only caught one pass Saturday but it was a touchdown in the Tulane loss. Analysis: Rush is a good talent as a freshman but needs solid quarterback play to have value. |
| 11/19/2011 | Terrance Wilkerson, WR, SMU |
WR Wilkerson quiet in lossNews: Wide receiver Terrance Wilkerson had a quiet night, catching just four passes in the SMU loss to Houston. Analysis: Wilkerson is not a recommendable start next week against Rice. |
| 11/19/2011 | Julio Lopez, WR, UTEP |
WR Julio Lopez has career night in lossNews: Little used receiver Julio Lopez caught seven balls for 62 yards in the UTEP loss to Tulsa. Analysis: Little used receiver. Not an option. |
| 11/19/2011 | Leilyon Myers, RB, UTEP |
RB Myers scores twice in big lossNews: Leilyon Myers rushed for two touchdowns as UTEP fell to Tulsa Saturday. Analysis: Myers is the UTEP short yardage back but cannot be relied on for weekly production. |
| 11/19/2011 | Carson Meger, QB, UTEP |
QB Carson Meger struggles in startNews: Starting for the injured Nick Lamaison, Carson Meger threw for just over 200 yards and two interceptions in the loss to Tulsa. Analysis: He struggled throughout and may have a competition to start next week with Javia Hall if Lamaison cannot play. |
| 11/19/2011 | Ja'Terian Douglas, RB, TULSA |
RB Douglas rumbles for 100 yards and a scoreNews: RB Ja'Terian Douglas rumbled for over 100 yards and a score in Tulsa's win Saturday. Analysis: Douglas pounded the ball, but as the third Tulsa back will struggle for value next week against Houston. |
| 11/19/2011 | Malcolm Brown, RB, ARMY |
Bergeron and Brown appear ready to goNews: Texas' freshmen running backs Joe Bergeron (hamstring) and Malcolm Brown (toe) both participated in warm ups and didn't appear to favor anything. Analysis: This probably means both will play tonight against Kansas State and hopefully won't be limited. Now it just comes down to which receives the bulk of the carries. |
| 11/19/2011 | Casey Pachall, QB, TCU |
Pachall does little in TCU winNews: Coming of his huge outing against Boise State, TCU quarterback Casey Pachall just sat back and let the running game do the work Saturday in the win over Colorado State. Pachall was a pedestrian 13-of-20 for 117 yards and no scores in the win. Analysis: Perhaps as good an example of Pachall's maturity as we've had -- he didn't try to dictate the game, just let it develop. As it turned out, the running game didn't need a lot of help and Pachall's numbers were small. |
| 11/19/2011 | Matthew Tucker, RB, TCU |
TCU RBs grind up Colorado StateNews: Waymon James led TCU in rushing today, gaining 108 yards on 15 carries. He wasn't alone as Ed Wesley had 63 yards on nine carries (1 touchdown) and Matthew Tucker added 94 yards and another score. Analysis: The Horned Frogs demonstrated all aspects of their potent running game. With all three of their backs healthy at last, they just ran it down Colorado State's throat in this one. |
| 11/19/2011 | Raymond Carter, RB, COLOST |
RB Carter turns catch into scoreNews: Colorado Stat running back Raymond Carter wasn't heavily involved in the running game, but had a huge receiving play with a 66-yard catch for a score in the third quarter of the loss to TCU. Analysis: Carter hasn't had a lot to do with the running game of late, but his catch for the score was a tremendous play for an offense that was struggling. He's a quality receiver out of the backfield and demonstrated that skill nicely. |
| 11/19/2011 | Brandon Miller, RB, WYO |
WRs Miller, Ogbonna each catch sixNews: Wyoming running back turned receiver Brandon Miller had a big day in the win over New Mexico. Miller caught six passes for 77 yards and a score, teaming with fellow receiver Mazi Ogbonna (6-78) to give Wyoming a very productive tandem. Analysis: Miller's convergence to a hybrid role starter a few weeks ago when he found himself increasingly in the slot. He seems to have taken to it nicely and is now more receiver than running back. He's got good speed, which allows him to make plays for this offense. |
| 11/19/2011 | Alvester Alexander, RB, WYO |
Alexander tallies score in Wyoming winNews: Wyoming running back Alvester Alexander was a force for the Cowboys, rushing for 93 yards on 16 carries and one touchdown. Analysis: Alexander has come on lately and really been a bright spot in the running game for Wyoming. He had some very big runs to keep drives alive in this one. |
| 11/19/2011 | Crusoe Gongbay, RB, NMEX |
Gongbay makes a dent rushing and receivingNews: New Mexico freshman running back Crusoe Gongbay continued to be the main ballcarrier, getting 52 yards on 10 carries, then adding four catches for another 32 yards. Analysis: You can see that New Mexico could build its offense around this young man. He's got some size, acceleration and is dangerous in the passing game. |
| 11/19/2011 | B.R. Holbrook, QB, NMEX |
Holbrook generates one score in Lobos lossNews: New Mexico quarterback B.R. Holbrook threw for 162 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in the loss to Wyoming. He did manage to score on a 5-yard plunge to give the Lobos a short-lived 10-7 lead. Analysis: Holbrook and the Lobos are simply overmatched at this point and though he was fairly solid with the ball, he struggled to make plays down the field. |
| 11/19/2011 | Kashif Moore, WR, UCONN |
Moore over 100 yards receiving, 2 TDsNews: Connecticut wide receiver Kashif Moore was the Huskies' most productive player on Saturday, scoring two touchdowns in the 34-20 loss to Louisville. Moore caught seven passes for 110 yards and a score while also rushing for 11 yards and another score on two carries. Analysis: Moore's been one of the top players for UConn this season, but due to the poor play at quarterback fantasy points have been left on the table so to speak. |
| 11/19/2011 | Jordan Bishop, WR, OREGST |
Beavers Bishop fractures foot in warmupsNews: Oregon State slot receiver Jordan Bishop fractured his foot during warmups today and didn't suit up for the game against Washington. Analysis: Bishop has shown ability when he's been healthy, but hasn't been healthy a lot this season. He's been plagued with foot issues and this seems to be the final blow. |
| 11/19/2011 | Joe Martinek, FB, RUT |
Sanu kept in check but others step upNews: Rutgers wide receiver Mohamed Sanu will always be at the top of opponents' scouting reports, but if others step up the Scarlet Knights will be successful. Sanu caught four passes for 29 yards on Saturday, but two other receivers caught at least four passes in the 20-3 win over Cincinnati. Analysis: Quron Pratt caught five passes for 49 yards, and running back Joe Martinek caught four passes for 32 yards. |
| 11/19/2011 | Jawan Jamison, RB, RUT |
Jamison has career day for RutgersNews: Rutgers running back Jawan Jamison had a career day in the Scarlet Knights' 20-3 win over Cincinnati, rushing for 200 yards and two touchdowns on 34 carries. The yards and attempts are both career highs for Jamison. Analysis: Rutgers struggled in the passing game, which meant more chances for Jamison, and he took advantage of them. |
| 11/19/2011 | Ricky Johnson, WR, TULSA |
Willie Carter OUT with ankle injuryNews: Willie Carter will miss the Tulsa game against UTEP as he did not go through pregame warmups. Analysis: Ricky Johnson looks like he will start but bench Carter if you can. Carter has an ankle injury according to the game broadcast. |
| 11/19/2011 | Christine Michael, RB, TXAM |
RB Gray leaves game after halftimeNews: Texas A&M running back Cyrus Gray emerged from the locker room after halftime without pads, and is out of the game with an undisclosed injury. Analysis: With Christine Michael out as well, Ben Malena is now the feature back for the Aggies. We'll keep you updated on why exactly Gray had to leave the game and the extent of his injury. |
| 11/19/2011 | Titus Davis, WR, CMICH |
Titus Davis remains hot, scores twiceNews: Central Michigan wide receiver Titus Davis caught five balls for 64 yards and two touchdowns against Toledo. Analysis: Davis had consecutive 100+ yard games coming in to Friday night, and while the yardage may not have been tremendous, he did score twice for the third straight game. He's been a tremendous late season find, but the Chips' season is over, so you'll get no help from Davis in Championship Week. He's a nice 2012 keeper however. |
| 11/18/2011 | Adam Muema, RB, SDGST |
If Hillman's out, Muema will be SDSU's guyNews: If San Diego State running back Ronnie Hillman can't go Saturday, look for redshirt freshman Adam Muema to get the call. Backing him up, according to Coach Rocky Long, will be true freshman Chase Price. Analysis: Certainly not the situation you'd want with Boise State coming to town. Virtually nothing is known about Muema at this point. Odds are, he's going to play -- and possibly play a lot. |
| 11/18/2011 | James Johnson, WR, WASH |
WR Johnson returns for HuskiesNews: Washington receiver James Johnson, who has missed the past two games with a sprained ankle, will play this weekend. Analysis: James had come on in the middle part of the season before picking up the ankle injury. He's a nice weapon to get back for young quarterback Nick Montana. |
| 11/18/2011 | Eddie Lacy, RB, BAMA |
Eddie Lacy a solid play against GSUNews: While Trent Richardson will likely get his work in about two quarters, the rest of the game will belong to Eddie Lacy. Analysis: Lacy is a nice spot start this weekend as he is bound to go for two scores. |
| 11/18/2011 | Emory Blake, WR, AUBURN |
Dyer and Blake should lead TigersNews: Auburn gets a nice tune up game this weekend against Samford, but that does not mean that Michael Dyer will still not get in a full day's work. The team's top offensive weapon will be sure to get his numbers while receiver Emory Blake should get deep a few times. Analysis: I would not start Moseley, but Dyer and Blake should both reach the 100-yard mark and the end zone at least once. |
| 11/17/2011 | Kevin Wright, WR, MEMP |
Kevin Wright catches 8 in lossNews: Kevin Wright came out of nowhere to catch eight balls for 80 yards in the Memphis loss to Marshall. Analysis: Wright has no value in any format. |
| 11/17/2011 | Antavious Wilson, WR, MRSHL |
WR Wilson hauls in a big play TD in winNews: Marshall receiver Antavious Wilson hauled in a long touchdown in their win against Memphis. Analysis: Wilson is too risky to start on a weekly basis and is waiver wire fodder. |
