Roy Finch, RB, OKLA

Roy Finch

Finch cited on misdemeanor, could miss bowl

News: Oklahoma running back Roy Finch was cited on a misdemeanor complaint of property molestation on Dec. 8.
Analysis: Coach Bob Stoops said he hadn't decided whether or not Finch would be suspended as a result of the run-in with the law, so we'll wait and see.

Jeff Godfrey, QB, UCF

Jeff Godfrey

Jeff Godfrey leaving Central Florida

News: Central Florida quarterback Jeff Godfrey has been granted his release from the school, and is free to transfer to any school outside of Conference USA or the Big East.
Analysis: According to his mentor, Uncle Luke Campbell, Godfrey's preference is to return home and transfer to the University of Miami.  No word on whether the 'Canes are interested, or where else Godfrey might consider.

Brandon Williams, RB, OKLA

Brandon Williams

OU to be without Reynolds, Williams for bowl

News: When Oklahoma takes on Iowa in the Insight Bowl they will be without wide receiver Jaz Reynolds and running back Brandon Williams.  Reynolds has been hospitalized with a kidney injury, which is why he is unable to go.
Analysis: The Sooners have a tough test against the Hawkeyes and sorely need to put together a solid performance to save their season.

Jake Heaps, QB, BYU

Jake Heaps

Heaps likely to look at Pac-12 options

News: With former BYU starting quarterback Jake Heaps announcing his transfer, the Pac-12 could very well be a place he lands. The former Skyline High School (Wash.) product has been linked with Washington, Washington State, USC and California.
Analysis: There are plenty of schools that would love to have a chance to develop Heaps' skill set and being from the West Coast, it makes sense that he would be looking at the Pac-12 as a potential destination.

12/10/2011

Keenan Allen, WR, CAL

Keenan Allen

Allen: Please let the Longhorn DBs play man-to-man

News: California star receiver Keenan Allen said he hopes Holiday Bowl opponent Texas plays man-to-man against the Golden Bear receivers. Allen said he didn't think the Longhorns could handle Cal's receiving stable man-to-man.
Analysis: Allen could be right with himself and Marvin Jones leading the way, along with some very nice third and fourth options. No doubt the Texas secondary will have those quotes posted on their lockerroom wall, though Allen could be right -- a lot of man-to-man could spell a big day for Allen and Co.

Jordan Webb, QB, KANSAS

Jordan Webb

Kansas already offered Crist a scholarship

News: Despite just having visited the campus this Saturday, quarterback Dayne Crist has already been offered a scholarship at Kansas.
Analysis: It makes sense that Crist could follow Charlie Weis to Lawrence. But even if he does go there, he will have to beat out Jordan Webb for the starting job.

12/8/2011

Mike Bellamy, RB, CLEM

Mike Bellamy

Update: Mike Bellamy suspended indefinitely

News: Clemson freshman running back Mike Bellamy's suspension is now being deemed indefinite by head coach Dabo Swinney.
Analysis: Bellamy was sent home from the ACC Championship game, and it's pretty evident that he won't play in the Orange Bowl either.  Beyond this season, I'll let you form your own opinions, but it's certainly fair to wonder if Bellamy's career as a Tiger is already finished.

12/7/2011

Deantre Lewis, RB, ARIZST

Deantre Lewis

Report: Junes Jones to coach Arizona State

News: With Dennis Erickson out as head coach of Arizona State, his replacement will be SMU head coach June Jones according to several sources.
Analysis: The pieces are already in place for Jones to run his offense so expect even more production from Brock Osweiler, Jamal Miles, and Deantre Lewis.

12/7/2011

Danny O'Brien, QB, MD

Danny O'Brien

Three more Terps leave, offseason total at 6

News: Maryland has granted redshirt freshmen running backs Rahsaan Moore and Jeremiah Wilson, along with defensive back Titus Till, their release and all three will transfer to another school
Analysis: That brings the total to six players leaving College Park, after starting offensive lineman R.J. Dill announced his departure yesterday.  Head coach Randy Edsall's "my way or the highway" approach looks to be backfiring, and it's going to be a lengthy rebuilding process for Maryland.  No word yet as to quarterback Danny O'Brien's intentions.

12/6/2011

O.J. Ross, WR, PURDUE

O.J. Ross

Purdue suspends O.J. Ross

News: Purdue wide receiver O.J. Ross has been suspended for a violation of team rules and it is uncertain if he will play in the Boilermakers' bowl game against Western Michigan.
Analysis: Ross is one of just a few four-star recruits on the roster and was expected to make much more of a contribution this year.  Even if he is unable to go, the Boiler offense should be just fine.

12/5/2011

Tom Savage, QB, ARIZ

Tom Savage

Arizona loses two QBs to transfer requests

News: Arizona lost two quarterbacks to transfers today -- former Rutgers transfer Tom Savage and freshman Daxx Garman. New coach Rich Rodriguez's spread option offense isn't seen as a fit for Savage or Garman.
Analysis: Savage, who arrived barely a year ago after showing such promise at Rutgers, is much more of a pocket quarterback than Rodriquez's offense really likes to use. With Senior Matt Scott redshirting and the likely starter in 2012, the Wildcats don't have any other scholarship quarterbacks on the roster right now. Savage said that family concerns are the prime reason for the transfer.

12/2/2011

Da'Rick Rogers, WR, TENN

Da'Rick Rogers

Da'Rick Rogers suspended?

News: Multiple sources are beginning to report that Tennessee wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers is "not part of the team."
Analysis: Go Vols Xtra will only go as far as saying that Rogers is receiving treatment similar to what former safety Janzen Jackson got, while WVLT hears it's a suspension through spring practice.  'Tis the season for rumors my friends.  Dynasty owners of Rogers should officially be worried, but that's the only conclussion we'll draw as of yet.

11/29/2011

Philip Lutzenkirchen, TE, AUBURN

Philip Lutzenkirchen

TE Lutzenkirchen day-to-day with injured knee

News: Auburn tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen is currently listed as day-to-day after suffering a knee injury against Alabama.
Analysis: There is no definitive word yet as to whether or not Lutzenkirchen will be available for the team's bowl game, but it seems likely.

11/28/2011

Miles Onyegbule, WR, TEXAS

Miles Onyegbule

McCoy listed as starter, Davis is not

News: Texas quarterback Case McCoy is no longer listed as a co-starter with David Ash - it's now McCoy alone at the top. Also, wide receiver Mike Davis is listed as a backup to Miles Onyegbule.
Analysis: Nothing groundbreaking with the McCoy news, but it's interesting to see Davis, who was expected to be the number one guy this season at receiver, drop to second string.

11/28/2011

Amir Carlisle, RB, USC

Amir Carlisle

Robert Woods to go under the knife

News: With no bowl game in sight due to NCAA sanctions, USC wide receiver Robert Woods and running back Amir Carlisle will undergo surgery to repair ankle and knee injuries, respectively.  Both should be ready for spring practice.
Analysis: Woods was pretty beat up this season as he tallied 111 receptions.  If Matt Barkley leaves, Woods is still a top tier receiving option for next season.

11/27/2011

Marcus Coker, RB, IOWA

Marcus Coker

Marcus Coker lone bright spot for Iowa

News: Iowa running back Marcus Coker rushed 18 times for 87 yards and a score, while catching three passes for 39 yards in the loss to Nebraska.
Analysis: Coker has been a bright spot all season, and has now scored in seven straight games.

11/27/2011

James Sims, RB, KANSAS

James Sims

Turner Gill gets the axe at Kansas

News: Kansas has fired head coach Turner Gill after just two seasons. "After a thorough evaluation of our football program," Athletic Director Sheahon Zenger said in a statement, "I have concluded that new leadership is necessary to place us on the path toward competing for championships in the Big 12 Conference."
Analysis: Some potential candidates to fill the job include:  Southern Miss HC Larry Fedora, Wyoming HC Dave Christensen, Cincinatti HC Butch Jones, Houston HC Kevin Sumlin, South Florida HC Skip Holtz,  and of course Mike Leach

11/27/2011

Ka'Deem Carey, RB, ARIZ

Ka'Deem Carey

Ka'Deem Carey a sits with a concussion

News: Arizona running back Ka'Deem Carey sat out Saturday's game against Louisiana-Lafeyette due to a concussion. Unfortunately the injury was not reported by the team. Another DNP for fantasy owners who are at the mercy of coaches on whether or not they report injuries.
Analysis: With Keola Antolin graduating and Rich Rodriquez taking over as head coach and bringing in his zone read brand of football, Carey has a bright future.

11/26/2011

A.J. Graham, QB, MRSHL

A.J. Graham

QB Cato impressive in OT win

News: Rakeem Cato had his best game of 2011, tossing two touchdowns with 337 yards in the OT win against ECU.
Analysis: Cato ended the season well but will be in a Marshall training camp battle with A.J. Graham in 2012.

11/26/2011

Darius Johnson, WR, SMU

Darius Johnson

Darius Johnson explodes vs. Rice

News: Darius Johnson had a huge season finale, catching eight balls for 123 yards and a score against Rice.
Analysis: Johnson is a huge playmaker and a solid play in bowl game pools.

11/26/2011

Zach Line, RB, SMU

Zach Line

Jared Williams scores in season finale

News: Running back Jared Williams rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown in the SMU win over Rice.
Analysis: Williams started for a second time in 2011, and if Zach Line enters the 2012 draft, Williams may be in line to start in 2012.

11/26/2011

C.J. Anderson, RB, CAL

C.J. Anderson

Backup RB Anderson scores three times in win

News: California backup running back C.J. Anderson had a game to remember Friday. Anderson rushed 10 times for 48 yards and two scores, then he turned a huge 74-yard pass reception into a score. He took a short dumpoff and was gone.
Analysis: Anderson is a very good player and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him challenge Sofele for more playing time in 2012. Anderson is fast and has power and demonstrated both in the win over ASU.

11/25/2011

J.J. Worton, WR, UCF

J.J. Worton

WR Worton catches 3 in finale

News: Wide receiver J.J. Worton concluded 2011 with a quiet game, catching three balls for 48 yards in the UCF win.
Analysis: If Blake Bortles enters 2012 as the starter, Worton may have some value.  His 2011 is over.

11/25/2011

Blake Hammond, TE, WMICH

Blake Hammond

Blake Hammond suspended for WMU

News: Western Michigan tight end Blake Hammond and fullback Calvin Smith won't play this afternoon as the Broncos take on the Zips. The pair have been suspended after a fight early Tuesday morning outside a Kalamazoo night club.
Analysis: Make sure to pull Hammond out of your lineup.

11/23/2011

Dee Hart, RB, BAMA

Dee Hart

Dee Hart back at practice for Tide

News: Alabama running back Demetrius Hart has returned to practice after tearing his ACL during the spring. There had also been speculation following his short departure from the program to deal with a personal issue.
Analysis: Hart will not see the field this season but should make a huge impact next year, especially if Trent Richardson heads to the NFL.
