Rams lose defensive cogs in first two games: The Colorado State defense is off to a rough start. Coach Steve Fairchild has watched his best pass rusher, defensive end Broderick Sargent, go down for the season with a knee injury in the team's first game. Then, this past weekend, top linebacker Mychal Sissons was lost to a broken ankle. (Updated 09/13/2011)

Fantasy Analysis
With arguably the unit's top two defensive players done for the season, Fairchild is looking at depth issues for the Rams. With a newly-physical Colorado, and its emphasis on the running game, up next, the Rams will need some youngsters to step forward. (Updated 09/13/2011).

The Rams will need to find five new starters on a defense that had moments of sparkle and fizzle last season. Fortunately, the defense will have a second-team all-conference playmaker to anchor it in weakside linebacker Mychal Sisson. The defense must get better in the secondary (4 interceptions in 2011), but Sisson should provide stability in the middle coming off a season in which he recorded 95 tackles and led the team in tackles for loss with 15-57. He added 4.5 sacks, an interception, two passes broken up and two fumble recoveries. He’s not big (5-11, 207), but he sticks his nose in the pile and ranges sideline to sideline looking for plays to make. (Updated 8/31/11)
