Oregon Defense Star of Week Four Win Over Arizona: Oregon's offense proved too much for the Wildcats to handle Saturday as Oregon shot down Arizona 49-0 at home in Eugene, but it was the Ducks' defensive unit which proved the star of the show, pitching its first shutout of a conference opponent since 2003.

Considering Arizona came into Saturday's game averaging 46 points - that's just 8 points less a game than Oregon - and 605 yards of offense per contest in 2012, you begin to realize just what a huge accomplishment Saturday's shutout of the Wildcats was for Chip Kelly's defense. Oregon's secondary, in particular, was a nightmare for Arizona quarterback Matt Scott, intercepting the senior three times on the night and returning two for touchdowns.

| The Ducks give up quite a few points most of the time since their offense scores so comically fast, but they've been really piling up the turnovers and special teams touchdowns lately and are therefore valuable in all formats. De'Anthony Thomas could go down as one of the most dangerous returners ever, and the team has 38 interceptions over the last two years. (Updated 8/30/12) |
