The Vanderbilt DST forced five turnovers against NC State in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl on Monday. The Commodore defense picked off NC State QB Mike Glennon three times, while also forcing two fumbles. The Vandy defense allowed just 17 points in all, finishing the 2012 campaign 15th overall in points allowed at 18.7 per game.

| The 2011 season was a good one for the Vanderbilt DST, as it allowed only 21.7 points per game. It brings back a couple standout returners in Warren Norman and Andre Hal, as well as some decent secondary components, but it generally looks like the Commodores will take a step back. With both its top pass rusher (Tim Fugger) and cornerback (Casey Hayward) gone, Vanderbilt lost its potentially two best defenders. (Updated 8/30/12) |
