Barry Brunetti outplayed starter Bo Wallace, so perhaps the team will reopen its competition between the two. Brunetti is only worth watching for now, though.

| Barry Brunetti is a former West Virginia recruit with good athleticism, but he (like most of Mississippi) was ugly in 2011. He averaged an unbearable 4.1 yards per pass last year and failed to find the end zone in 35 passes and 33 rush attempts. New coach Hugh Freeze could get more out of Brunetti, but he needs to beat out Bo Wallace for the starting spot first. (Updated 8/30/12) |
