Riley might have emphasized his staff was picking "between good, not good and bad" when it came to the decision to start Vaz over Sean Mannion, but the fact the latter has thrown for 1,286 yards 11 touchdowns and just one interception in six games, while Mannion accounted for 2,446 yards, 15 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in nine games, seems to make the junior a logical choice to lead the Beavers offense against the Longhorns. (Updated 12/24/12). |
| Sean Mannion will look to unseat Cody Vaz in the QB competition for the Beavers after he started eight of the team's 13 games last season. He has a big arm and is 6-5 but had some control issues in the regular season. He had four games last season in which he threw for over 300 yards but also had three games throwing three or more interceptions. He is listed as the backup in the spring to Cody Vaz but should have the opportunity to battle for the starting job heading into the season. (Updated 6/11/13) |
