Donnell Kirkwood only topped the 100-yard mark three times on the season and will face competition from Rodrick Williams Jr. in the offseason for the top spot on the Gopher depth chart.

| Donnell Kirkwood carried the ball the bulk of the time for the Gophers in 2012, totaling 925 yards on 218 carries. The junior will be expected to shoulder most of the load again this season. He will benefit from the departure of running quarterback MarQueis Gray, who scored five rushing touchdowns last season. Kirkwood is the definitive starter for the 2013 season and will have a chance at increasing his touchdown total to over the six he scored last season. He's a starting option in Big Ten-only leagues who could make the jump to nationwide relevance this year with a little luck. (Updated 6/11/13) |
