Jerome Smith was a wrecking ball in the middle of the Mountaineer defense and the Orange offensive lines opened nice holes for him. The junior had a huge second half for Syracuse and finished with 1177 yards.

| Jerome Smith is competing with Prince-Tyson Gulley to become Syracuse's next starting running back. Given that he averaged just 3.6 yards per carry last year, however, it's not easy to have high hopes for Smith. Gulley seems more explosive, and history says Smith isn't likely to do much even if he does get a big workload. (Updated 8/30/12) |
