After Montee Ball left in the second quarter with an apparent head "issue," which is code word for a concussion, James White took over as the primary back with Melvin Gordon manning the No. 2 role. Considering it would mark Ball's second concussion in as many months, Gordon is set to earn a larger share of the carries if Ball in fact misses any time following his current ailment. Gordon looked quite electric in his new gig and will be one to watch over the next few weeks. (Updated 9/24/12). |
| Melvin Gordon was a top-rated recruit coming out of high school, so he would have high upside in Wisconsin's offense if he ever sees a big workload. The problem is Montee Ball and James White are ahead of him on the depth chart, and even Jeff Lewis is a threat to steal carries. Given all that, Gordon is only a player to monitor in case injuries occur in Madison. (Updated 8/30/12) |
