Temple Defense Gives Up 32 Points

News: The Owl defense allowed 407 yards and 32 points against Army, but the team won going away.
Analysis: The Owls scored quickly on offense and had a nearly even time of possession despite scoring 63 points. Army's triple-option was effective against Temple, but it turned out not to matter.

Temple Defense Trampled Again

News: The Temple defense allowed 34 points and 472 yards Saturday against Cincinnati.
Analysis: Perhaps the Owls watched tapes of the Bearcats with quarterback Munchie Legaux and were unprepared for Brendon Kay. Cincinnati had little problems scoring against Temple.

Temple Defense Gets Run Over by Louisville

News: Temple allowed 508 yards and 45 points Saturday against Louisville.
Analysis: The Temple defense has allowed 127 points in the last three weeks. The offense does the defense no favors by not holding the ball very long (and had four fumbles against the Cardinals).

Owl Defense Run Over

News: The Temple defense gave up 521 yards and 47 points on Saturday against Pittsburgh.
Analysis: The Owls could not stop the run (207 yards) or the pass (528), and did not force a turnover. It was no surprise based on those numbers that the Panthers won big.

Temple Defense Falls Apart in the Second Half

News: After blanking Rutgers on Saturday in the first half, the Temple defense allowed five touchdowns in the second half.
Analysis: Granted, one of the touchdowns came on a fumble return, but the Temple defense had no answer for Gary Nova. The 35 points were the most allowed by Temple this season.

Temple's Defense Stiffens

News: The Owl defense allowed two first quarter touchdown to Connecticut, but not another point in the game on Saturday.

Temple's Defense Shows its Inexperience

News: Temple's defense has been led by redshirt freshman Nate D. Smith and true freshman Tyler Matakevich, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Defensive coordinator Chuck Heater said that the defense does not execute consistently, but it is improving. The Owls will face an offensively-challenge UConn squad on Saturday, so their statistics are bound to improve. They could make for a nice sleeper play as a defensive unit.

Temple's Defense Holds Villanova to 10

News: The Owl defense allowed 369 yards to Villanova, but the Wildcats only scored 10 points. The Owls forced two turnovers and defensive back Vaughn Carraway returned an interception for a touchdown.
Analysis: The Wildcats did not have many receiving options, but gained 218 yards on the ground at 5.0 yards per carry. Temple will have to tighten things up before Big East play starts in order to be fantasy relevant.

Mixed Effort for Temple DST In Week 1

News:
Analysis: Temple allowed 27 points while forcing one sack and one interception against Villanova Friday, but strengthened the performance with a fumble recovery for a touchdown on a kickoff return. Temple 'D' Strong Against Army

News: Temple held an run-heavy Army offense to just 181 yards and 13 points on Saturday.
