News: Florida State wide receivers Bert Reed (ankle) and Kenny Shaw (head) are listed as questionable for Saturday's game against Clemson.
Analysis: I'd expect Reed to play, but be limited. Shaw's return this quickly would be stunning after being carted off the field last Saturday. Expect to see Rashad Greene, Christian Green and Rodney Smith to see extended minutes for a change. Willie Haulstead (concussion) is out.
News: Florida State will be without the services of Jared Haggins for four to six week's due to a broken hand. Haggins is expected to have surgery on Tuesday.
Analysis: Not good news for a team that could also be without Bert Reed (ankle), Willie Haulstead (concussion) and Kenny Shaw (concussion) this week against Clemson. Rashad Greene and Rodney Smith will have to shoulder the load against the Tigers.
News: Florida State wide receiver Bert Reed (ankle) was a surprise scratch for Saturday's game against Oklahoma. Fellow wideout Kenny Shaw was taken off the field in a stretcher, and briefly to the hospital, and Willie Haulstead (concussion) remains out.
Analysis: Reed is the most likely to see the field at Clemson this week for a suddenly-thin receiving corp. Rashad Greene is proving to be the real deal, but the 'Noles would be down to Greene, Rodney Smith, Greg Dent and Christian Green. We may see fantasy worthy numbers from one of these four, instead of eight, but it's still a guessing game.
News: Florida State wide receivers Bert Reed (ankle) and Willie Haulstead didn't practice Monday.
Analysis: Reed's injury appears to be minor, and he's expected to play in Saturday's mega hyped showdown with Oklahoma. Haulstead, on the other hand, will probably miss his third straight contest.
News: Florida State wide receiver Willie Haulstead (concussion) suffered a setback after returning to practice this week, and he will sit out Saturday.
Analysis: Haulstead also suffered a concussion late last season, so this is becoming a concern. Last week, I guessed right on Rodney Smith leading the FSU WRs. This week, I'll go young. Take a flier on Greg Dent or even Rashad Greene.
News: Florida State wide receiver Willie Haulstead (concussion) returned to practice on Monday.
Analysis: While the brief Miami Herald report notes that Haulstead is expected to start opposite Bert Reed, I would use caution here. We have no official confirmation from the coaching staff or Haulstead that he has been cleared. Typically that doesn't come until after the player resumes practice and shows no signs of regression.
News: Florida State receiver Willie Haulstead will miss the season opener against Louisiana-Monroe due to a concussion.
Analysis: With Haulstead out, Bert Reed and Rodney Smith should led the Seminoles receiving corps.
News: Florida State receiver Taiwan Easterling has signed with the Chicago Cubs and is leaving the football team.
Analysis: Not great news for new starting quarterback E.J. Manuel. But he still has Bert Reed, Rodney Smith and Willie Haulstead to throw to.
News: Haulstead is expected to play against Florida on Saturday after missing last week's game due to a concussion, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Haulstead has returned to practice and participated all week.
News: Haulstead caught 10 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown against North Carolina Saturday.
Analysis: Haulstead is worth a flex start in ACC-only leagues against Clemson, but Christian Ponder's injury situation threatens his value.
News: Haulstead caught five passes for 79 yards and a touchdown against Virginia on Saturday.
Analysis: Haulstead followed up his great game last week with another good outing, this time leading FSU in receiving. It appears that Haulstead's role in the offense is increasing so you'll want to keep an on him but probably after they play Miami (FL) next.
Haulstead Would Be Starter in Place of Reed if Season Started Now
News: Head coach of Florida State Jimbo Fisher told reporters Tuesday that if the season were to start now, Haulstead--not Bert Reed--would get the nod at slot receiver, the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Fisher isn't the only person saying that Haulstead is earning a shot to start at the slot position, with quarterback Christian Ponder noting, "I think Willie has really stepped up." "He's gained a lot of confidence," Ponder continues, "and I think he's realizing his potential. I look for him in crucial situations because he has great hands and finds ways to get open."
Florida State WR Haulstead Identified as Breakout Candidate
News: Orlando Sentinel writer Andrew Carter identified Haulstead as breakout candidate at receiver in light of Jarmon Forton's dismissal.
Analysis: Haulstead is a big wideout who would be a good complement to Florida State's smaller starting receiver, Bert Reed. He's worth keeping an eye on in ACC leagues as Florida State will throw a lot this year, and someone besides Reed needs to catch those passes.
