News:Jared Abbrederis is tied for first in the nation with four 50-plus yard plays, while ranking second with six plays of 40-plus yards, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Analysis: While he's hit for just one of those plays the past two contests, a stretch that includes just six catches for 111 yards, Jared Abbrederis still leads the Big Ten with 89.6 yards receiving per game. He may have a rough go of it this Saturday against a Michigan State pass defense that has allowed a mere 177.5 yards per game to go with six scores through the air. However, he did haul in six receptions for 156 yards and a touchdown in two tilts versus the Spartans a season ago, showing he can produce against the stingiest of fronts.

Analysis:Jared Abbrederis' day included a 47-yard scoring strike and a 60-yard reception as he appeared comfortable with redshirt freshman Joel Stave experiencing his first career start under center. More important, though, is the fact that Abbrederis didn't seem fazed by the brutal hit in Week 2 at Oregon State that brought on concussion symptoms and kept him on the sidelines for one contest. Feel free to use him as you normally would.
Wisconsin's Abbrederis (Concussion/Chest) Set to Play
News:Jared Abbrederis (concussion/chest) has been cleared to play Saturday against UTEP, the Badger Nation reports.
Analysis: On Thursday, coach Bret Bielema said, "Jared Abbrederis has been practicing all week. He [is] clear, 100% to go, he's been with us Tuesday [going] forward." If one unscrambles Bielema's statement, Abbrederis appears as if he'll be a full participant for Saturday's tilt, though it'll be interesting to see how tentative he is going over the middle after the crushing hit that knocked him out two weeks ago.

Wisconsin's Abbrederis Misses Game With Concussion

While he may not be a part of the first-team offense, he could see the field at some point. No matter, Jordan Fredrick and Kevin Duckworth are Wisconsin's top receivers Saturday.
Wisconsin's Abbrederis (Chest/Concussion) May Play Saturday
News:Jared Abbrederis (chest/concussion) is questionable to play Saturday against Utah State, ESPNWisconsin.com reports.
Analysis: Coach Bret Bielema said Thursday that Jared Abbrederis' status "is still up in the air," which officially makes him a game-time decision. Following the hit at Oregon State that ended his day prematurely and left him with a chest contusion and concussion-like symptoms, Abbrederis is best left on your bench, even if he does amble onto the field Saturday.
News:Jared Abbrederis (chest) did not practice Tuesday and is doubtful for Saturday's contest against Utah State, Badger Nation reports.
Analysis: This is somewhat of a surprise after coach Bret Bielema stated earlier Tuesday that Jared Abbrederis had nothing "structurally" wrong and there was a "good chance we'll have him this week." Abbrederis' likelihood of playing Saturday is murky at best.

News:Jared Abbrederis caught every ball thrown his way Saturday, racking up 84 yards on six receptions and two touchdowns as Wisconsin held off Northern Iowa.
Analysis:Jared Abbrederis also tallied two rushes for minus two yards, while returning four punts for 18 total yards. As the Badgers' No. 1 wideout, he certainly showed his worth by bailing out an offense that was unable to brandish its typical rushing style. On the second touchdown grab, quarterback Danny O'Brien sold a play-action pass perfectly and connected with a wide-open Abbrederis for Wisconsin's final score. So far, so good for the duo.
News:Jared Abbrederis will be the starting kick and punt returner for the Badgers, ESPNWisconsin reports.
Analysis:Jared Abbrederis returned 43 punts for 315 yards and one touchdown and 28 kicks for 689 yards last season.
