Season Over For Alabama's Fowler

News: Jalston Fowler (knee) will miss the rest of the season, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: It's bad news for Alabama, but it's good news for the owners of Eddie Lacy and T.J. Yeldon. With the bruising and highly effective Jalston Fowler out of the backfield, Lacy and Yeldon should both put up big numbers from here.

Alabama's Fowler Carted Off

News: Jalston Fowler (leg) was carted out of Saturday's game against Western Kentucky, TidesSportsExtra.com's Cecil Hurt reports.
Analysis: It's not clear how serious the injury might be, but the carter isn't a good sign. Eddie Lacy and T.J. Yeldon are more than good enough to keep carrying the load for Alabama, though.

Tide's Fowler Efficient For Alabama

News: Jalston Fowler ran for 67 yards on eight carries against Michigan on Saturday.
Analysis: T.J. Yeldon was the star of the Alabama backfield, leading the team with 11 carries. Jalston Fowler is a very good running back, but his fantasy value is pointed downward with Yeldon's arrival.

Trent Richardson has monstrous outing

News: If there were any doubts of Trent Richardson's Heisman candidacy, he may as well have punched his ticket to New York with his dominant performance over Ole Miss.  Richardson carried the ball 17 times for 183 yards and four touchdowns.  Backup Jalston Fowler added another 125 yards and two more scores.
Analysis: Eddie Lacy played sparingly, which opened up the chances for Fowler, but the real star was Richardson who put the game on his shoulders.  Richardson is a must start outside of the LSU game and he should do decently well even against them.

Bama's Richardson faces 95th ranked rush D

News: Ole Miss is allowing opponents to rush for an average of 193 yards a game, so, when they meet Alabama's Trent Richardson, that number might rise a couple of points.
Analysis: Richardson is a solid start but for Eddie Lacy owners, you may want to proceed with caution as he is coming off a toe injury and the Tide may run Jalston Fowler a bit.

Jalston Fowler making a smooth transition

News: Alabama's Jalston Fowler has been progressing well as a tailback since playing linebacker before and has head coach Nick Saban praising his bruising running style.
Analysis: With Eddie Lacy returning to the lineup soon, Fowler may be relocated to short-yardage duty, but he provides plenty of punch in the Tide backfield.

Tide ground game rolls the Flashes

News: While the quarterbacks had a tough day, the Alabama ground attack went to work finishing with five rushing scores.  Trent Richardson accounted for three to go along with 37 yards.  Eddie Lacy rushed for 58 yards and a score while also tacking on 76 yards receiving. Big Jalston Fowler rumbled for 69 yards and a score on just four touches.
Analysis: Obviously the Crimson Tide will lean on their powerful offensive line and punishing ground game but the passing game has to come along for them to get through their slate unscathed.

Jalston Fowler turning heads

News: In the wake of injuries and transfers, the Crimson Tide backfield has been looking for some depth to develop and one guy turning heads is tailback Jalston Fowler.  Offensive coordinator Jim McElwain says Fowler has good hands and has developed into a "big back."
Analysis: Fowler is formidably sized at nearly 250 pounds and should provide a nice thump alongside Trent Richardson.

How will the Tide fix their RB depth?

News: With Demetrius Goode and Corey Grant transferring and Demetrius Hart and Eddie Lacey out with injuries, the Crimson Tide may look to incoming freshman Brent Calloway to help at tailback.  Other options are Jalston Fowler and quarterback Blake Sims.
Analysis: Trent Richardson will certainly carry the load but they will need someone to spell him.  Fowler is a big back who could be a nice complement but it looks like Calloway's the best bet.

Jalston Fowler a Bama back to watch

News: Mike Herndon of the Mobile Press-Register believes that Alabama redshirt sophomore back Jalston Fowler will play a much larger role now that prized recruit Demetrius Hart will miss the 2011 campaign due to a knee injury.
Analysis: Fowler, whom Herndon says is "built like a tank," could battle with Eddie Lacy for the right to see carries behind Trent Richardson.
