Analysis: Gautier's rib injury did not involve broken bones, so he may be back sooner rather than later. Former Cougar QB Broadway Commits to Louisiana-Lafayette
News: Broadway, a four-star quarterback recruit (as rated by Rivals.com) that spent one year with the University of Houston football program, announced over the Christmas holiday he will be transferring to Louisiana-Lafayette, the Daily Advertiser reports.
Analysis: Broadway also had offers from Arkansas State, Kansas and Vanderbilt, but chose Louisiana-Lafayette due to the hiring of former Mississippi State assistant coach Mark Hudspeth as the Ragin' Cajuns new head coach. "Coach Hud was part of the staff at Mississippi State," Broadway told reporters, "so I already had a connection with him. I went down [to UL last] Sunday, and we had a nice talk. I decided that I'm ready to come back home and play in my home state."
News: Broadway is leaving the Houston football program, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Despite David Piland doing well in a starting role this year, one has to think this is a significant loss for Houston. Broadway was a bit of an unprecedented recruiting accomplishment for the school, as he reportedly took up Houston's scholarship over obviously superior programs like Oregon, Nebraska and Mississippi State. We're betting the true freshman will find a comfy landing spot somewhere in the FBS, and it wouldn't be surprising if it were for a BCS program.
News: Broadway completed 4-of-4 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown against Memphis on Saturday.
Analysis: David Piland tossed five TDs as the starter though, meaning Broadway is stuck at No. 2 on the depth chart.
