News:Tanner Price threw for just 2,300 yards and 12 touchdowns during his junior campaign, 700 yards less than his 2011 total.
Analysis:Tanner Price limited his mistakes, only tossing seven interceptions, but was unable to replace the loss of deep threat Chris Givens. Michael Campanaro figures to be back in Winston-Salem for his senior season, but Price's upside will be limited by the lack of a deep receiving threat.
News:Tanner Price completed 18-of-33 passes for 113 yards and was intercepted Saturday at North Carolina State.
Analysis:Tanner Price has had a roller coaster of a season, and this is the third time he's been held under 115 yards. With two games remaining, he has just 12 touchdowns after tossing 20 a season ago, and is nearly 1,000 yards under his total from 2011.
News:Tanner Price completed 7-of-19 passes for 102 yards Saturday at Virginia.
Analysis: He managed 24 yards rushing, but it was a pretty dismal performance in Charlottesville. Tanner Price clearly misses top target Michael Campanaro.
News:Tanner Price completed just 13-of-38 passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns Saturday at Maryland.
Analysis: The miserable completion percentage aside, Tanner Price wasn't intercepted and threw two touchdowns for the third consecutive game.
News:Tanner Price hit on 19-of-38 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns Saturday against Duke.
Analysis: He was picked off twice, and lost his top target, WR Michael Campanaro, to a broken hand. He's trending downward.
News:Tanner Price completed just 8-of-22 passes for 82 yards at Florida State on Saturday.
Analysis: At least he wasn't intercepted. Tanner Price faced a defense that his team simply had no answer for. He'll bounce back next time out against Army.
News:Tanner Price completed 27-of-38 passes for 327 yards Saturday against North Carolina, adding two scores rushing.
Analysis:Tanner Price was in complete command, and showed his potential after last week's dud against Liberty.
News: Wake Forest quarterback Tanner Price threw for just 146 yards and was picked off three times by North Carolina.
Analysis: For comparison, Price had only been picked off three times all season, and this was his first tilt without a score all season. His growth as a sophomore has been tremendous, but how he bounces back next week against Notre Dame will be the ultimate test to his development.
News: Since David Cutcliffe took over at Duke in 2008, his three matchups with Wake Forest have seen an average of 84.7 combined points scored.
Analysis: No, this isn't for you folks looking for over/under help Saturday. It's a loud endorsement of all skill players from each school. Wake quarterback Tanner Price and Duke signal caller Sean Renfree are very solid plays this weekend.
News: Wake Forest wide receiver Chris Givens hauled in seven passes for 132 yards and a touchdowns against Boston College.
Analysis: Givens is one of the biggest surprises of the year, and it is mostly due to the emergence of quarterback Tanner Price. Givens now has 498 yards and four scores in four games, and should be in your lineup every week moving forward.
News: Wake Forest quarterback Tanner Price threw for 297 yards and a touchdown against North Carolina State.
Analysis: He was intercepted once, but he's averaging 293 yards and two scores through his first two games. It's time to start believing in Price.
News: Wake Forest quarterback Tanner Price (knee) is still on track to play this weekend against North Carolina State. "He's going to be full speed,'' coach Jim Grobe said earlier in the week. "He's going to be fine."
Analysis: Price is a decent QB2 start this week in BCS leagues. Grab him off the waiver wire if you have a hole to fill.
News: Wake Forest quarterback Tanner Price (knee) was a limited participant in practice today, and expects to play next weekend against North Carolina State.
Analysis: Terrific news, as Price looked like a different QB than he did a year ago. The fantasy fallout remains peripheral at this point, as RB Josh Harris and WR Chris Givens are now safer options with Price under center.
News: Though he didn't return to the game, Wake Forest quarterback Tanner Price doesn't think his knee injury is serious.
Analysis: After the game, Price said, "The doctors said I'd be all right, but the coaches said it's a long season and there is no point in further hurting yourself." Hmm, somthing doesn't add up here. Price warmed up as the game went along, and was quickly approaching 300 yards before leaving. Price will have an MRI in Winston-Salem, and we'll let you know regarding his availability for North Carolina State.
News: Wake Forest quarterback Tanner Price had 308 yards passing and three touchdowns against Syracuse before exiting with an apparent knee injury.
Analysis: Those are huge numbers, and they weren't against the Little Sisters of the Poor. Unfortunately Price didn't return to a tied ballgame in the fourth quarter, Ted Stachitas replaced him, and isn't a fantasy option. A healthy Price would be. Fingers crossed this isn't serious.
News: Wake Forest wide receiver Chris Givens has struggled with a hamstring injury during camp, putting his status for Week 1 in doubt.
Analysis: Givens limped off the field during Saturday's scrimmage after catching a 34-yard pass from quarterback Tanner Price. He was in pads Monday, but his participation was minimal. Head coach Jim Grobe doesn't seem too pleased with his top wideout, stating, "Standing around in the shade and going back to the spa doesn't get you ready at this level. Chris has just been really soft. He's not a very dependable guy for us right now." Tell us how you feel coach. Injuries and the doghouse mean you can bump Givens way down your list, or remove him all together.
News: Wake Forest running back Josh Harris had 112 yards on just nine carries in yesterday's scrimmage. He took one handoff 96 yards to paydirt.
Analysis: Not bad for a kid who was waiver wire material at best last year before rolling into Blacksburg and carving up the Hokies. I've been cautious in recommending Harris this season, as I question his ability to be consistent, and remain healthy. But it sounds like quarterback Tanner Price is showing some development, and Harris shouldn't have to do everything by himself as a result. He's definitely got a shot at reaching the century mark in yardage a few times in 2011.
News: Wake Forest quarterback Tanner Price went 10-of-14 for 175 yards in the Deacons first scrimmage of the summer.
Analysis: I know it's just a scrimmage, but Price only had three games all of last season with more yards passing. Head coach Jim Grobe praised Price's performance. Aside from this being a scrimmage, I do realize this is also Wake Forest. But Price has a unique dual threat skill set, and was a rare true frosh to play for Grobe. He's obviously not setting the world ablaze, but he's one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the ACC, and doubling his numbers from a season ago (roughly 1,400 total yards, 11 scores) would make him a nice pick. He won't quite make it, but don't ignore Price in ACC-heavy leagues.
News: In an interview with Wake Forest running back Josh Harris, the sophomore running back said that the thing he is looking forward to most is just the chance to redeem himself and his team against ACC foes. Harris says the the team has improved most in the area of toughness and that he personally has worked on getting bigger and faster so he can be more consistent.
Analysis: Consistency is key for the uber-talented rusher. After rushing for 241 yards against Virginia Tech, Harris registered only one more game over 100 yards and that was against Vanderbilt. Harris has all the skills to be a terror in the ACC and as Tanner Price matures as a passer, Harris should find running lanes a bit wider.
News: While nobody will every confuse Wake Forest with the likes of Hawaii or Houston when it comes to offensive firepower, the Demon Deacons do still have some talent and one player who is key to the Deacs success is wide receiver Chris Givens. Despite sub par quarterback play, Givens caught a team-leading 513 yards and four touchdowns. As a freshman, Givens was even more impressive tallying 629 yards and eight scores.
Analysis: If Tanner Price can take a big step as a sophomore, Givens will could feasibly double his production from last year. Also with Devon Brown off to play for West Virginia, Givens is the unquestioned go-to guy.
News: Price completed 9-of-11 passes for 68 yards against NC State on Saturday.
Analysis: This game does nothing to prevent Price from continuing to be a non-factor as a fantasy option.
News: Price completed 18-of-30 passes for 177 yards and four touchdowns against Boston College Saturday.
Analysis: Price might warrant a gamble in ACC-only leagues against Vanderbilt in the final week, but not a bit more than that.
News: Price was 16-for-31 for 156 yards, a touchdown and an interception against Maryland on Saturday.
Analysis: Price offers little value so this game doesn't really hurt his stock but it's not helping, either.
News: Price went 3-for-16 for 92 yards and a touchdown against Virginia Tech on Saturday.
Analysis: Price followed up his good game last week with a very ineffective game this week, with most of his yards coming on the 78-yard TD in the 3rd quarter. It looked like Price may set himself apart from the rest of the Wake QBs but after a game like this, don't be surprised if the QB carousel continues to spin for Wake Forest.
News: Price was 37-for-53 for 326 yards and two touchdowns, adding another on the ground, against Navy on Saturday.
Analysis: Price missed last week's game but came back with a huge game this week. With how ineffective most of the starting QBs have been for Wake, a huge game like this could be just the thing that Price needed to hold onto the starting job. That said, while it was a good game, Price will need to more consistent to be considered a viable fantasy option.
News: Price went 6-for-12 for 35 yards and an interception adding 16 yards on eight carries, against Florida State on Saturday.
Analysis: Price has played well at times but has largely been ineffective the past two games now. He split snaps with Ted Stachitas again and given how well Stachitas played, that timeshare is likely to continue. Because of that, you'll want to avoid both, at least until it becomes clearer which guy is more effective.
News: Price went 8-for-18 for 76 yards and an interception, adding 16 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown against Stanford on Saturday.
Analysis: Price's passing numbers weren't great, but his ability to pick up yards on the ground helped from making this outing a total loss. Still, Price's grip on the starting job wasn't strong before, so it's hard to imagine this game helping any. It would be best to avoid him, especially with FSU coming up next.
News: Price will start for Wake Forest against Stanford, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Price was great against Duke last week, but playing on the other coast against Stanford is a much taller order for the freshman. Pick him up if you're desperate for quarterback help in a deep league, but try to find another option for this week.
