Youth served in Spartan blowout

News: Michigan State looked to three youngsters in the blowout win over FAU. Sophomore Le'Veon Bell and redshirt freshman Nick Hill both carried it 14 times with Bell gaining 69 yards and a score while Hill posted 56 yards. Freak sophomore tight end Dion Sims chipped in four catches for 27 yards and a touchdown.
Analysis: The Spartans boast an impressive amount of offensive balance, and due to this it's Sims that presents the highest ceiling of these youngsters, as he's clearly the most talented tight end on the roster.

Michigan State running backs fare well

News: Michigan State running backs Larry Caper, Le'Veon Bell, and Nick Hill combined for 219 yards rushing in Sunday's scrimmage.
Analysis: The trio of backs will support starter Edwin Baker this fall and could knock Baker's production down a peg or two.

Nick Hill coming on for Spartans

News: Michigan State freshman running back Nick Hill is having a good camp and is drawing praise from head coach Mark Dantonio.
Analysis: Is Hill in the mix to back up Edwin Baker?  Hard to imagine with Le'Veon Bell and Larry Caper in the mix, but he's one to watch.

Nick Hill leads Spartan ground game

News: Nick Hill led all Michigan State running backs with 75 yards on 14 carries in Saturday's scrimmage.
Analysis: Hill might be fourth on the depth chart, but expect him to see carries this fall, which will take away carries from starter Edwin Baker.

Three number one backs in East Lansing?

News: Joe Rexrode of The Lansing State Journal quotes Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio as saying they "really have three number one backs" in reference to Edwin Baker, Larry Caper and Le'Veon Bell.
Analysis: It's quite clear that Baker is the number one guy, however those that expect a bump in the junior's numbers from a season ago may be disappointed. Caper and Bell are too good to keep off the field, and redshirt freshman Nick Hill brings more of a scatback style to the spot.

Martin and Hill to return kicks for Spartans

News: Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio said that senior wide receiver Keshawn Martin and redshirt freshman running back Nick Hill will return kicks, with Martin being the guy on punts.
Analysis: Martin is the Spartans' versatile big play weapon, while is Hill is a jitterbug back who should see time even in such a crowded and talented backfield.
