News:Ryan Williams will prepare to start Saturday against Florida State in place of Stephen Morris (ankle,) according to the Miami Herald.
Analysis:Ryan Williams was efficient in relief of Morris Saturday against North Carolina, but didn't throw much more than short, dump off passes. Should Williams start, he's unlikely to have much success against FSU.
News: According to one AFC scout, if Ryan Williams starts under center, the 'Canes won't win many games, notes the Miami Herald
Analysis:Ryan Williams has been compared to Ken Dorsey in many fan circles, which makes him a lanky, intelligent quarterback who lacks arm strength. That doesn't exactly sound like fantasy appeal, and it would be a shock if Stephen Morris didn't emerge as the team's starter.
News: Quarterback Ryan Williams, who transferred to Miami from Memphis during the off-season, has requested a family hardship waiver from the NCAA, with the hope he can be eligible to play immediately.
Analysis: Interesting. It's rather odd timing on this request, as you would have thought this could have been done month's ago. Williams didn't set the world ablaze in BBQ country, but he was a true freshman starting on a bad team, so take his stats with a grain of salt. He's a large reason why I'm down on Stephen Morris' long term potential, and some Miami fans see Williams as a Ken Dorsey clone. Meaning he's accurate and smart, with limited arm strength. Stay tuned.
News: If there was anything that the Memphis Tigers needed most on the gridiron, it was a quarterback. Last year, Taylor Cook transferred to Rice and super freshman Ryan Williams decided to head to Miami, leaving the Tigers in dire need of a signal caller. Their prayers were answered in the form of Wake Forest transfer Skylar Jones, a nice athlete who will be eligible to play right away.
Analysis: Jones never really found a fit with the Demon Deacons and while he is far from a polished passer, he at least gives Larry Porter and the Tigers something with which to work.
News: Williams, Memphis' starting quarterback, left the program on Wednesday, the opening day for spring practice, the Commercial Appeal reports.
Analysis: Williams father told reporters Wednesday that his son chose to leave the Tigers due to the sudden decision by head coach Larry Porter to switch the offense from pro-style to spread.

News: Williams was 18-of-27 for 221 yards, two touchdowns and two INTs against Tennessee on Saturday.
Analysis: The good news is that Williams got the majority of snaps in lieu of Cannon Smith. The bad news is that Williams still plays for the 1-8 Tigers.
News: Williams was 2-of-7 for 27 yards against Houston on Saturday before being replaced by Cannon Smith.
Analysis: No matter who is starting at QB, the Memphis passing game is best left off of fantasy rosters.

Analysis: Williams had one of his best games of the season despite the loss, and could make for a sneaky play in two weeks against Houston.
News: Williams completed 15-of-27 passes for 174 yards and an INT against Louisville on Saturday.
Analysis: On the plus side, Williams started and got the majority of snaps instead of Cannon Smith. On the downside, Memphis lost 56-0 and fell to 1-5. The Tigers host Southern Miss next week.
News: Williams will start this week against Middle Tennessee, ESPN reports.
Analysis: Cannon Smith suffered a concussion last week and is out for the game. Williams was 18-of-25 passing for 293 yards and three TDs in last week's win, so he may keep the job even when Smith gets healthy.
News: Williams relieved starter Cannon Smith due to ineffectiveness and completed 18-of-25 passes for 293 yards and three TDs in Saturday's 49-27 loss to ECU.
Analysis: It appears as though Williams has played himself into the starting quarterback role, at least for the contest against Middle Tennessee.
News: Ryan Smith has been named the starting quarterback for Memphis over Williams, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.
Analysis: Williams will enter the season as the backup, but could take over the role if Smith struggles.
