One Catch For Mississippi State's Johnson

News: Malcolm Johnson caught a 27-yard pass against Arkansas on Saturday.
Analysis: Malcolm Johnson continues to show promise, though his role is rather limited right now. He's mostly a player to watch in 2013.

Johnson Emerging For Mississippi State

News: Malcolm Johnson caught two passes for 40 yards against LSU on Saturday.
Analysis: Malcolm Johnson figures to be worth owning in SEC-only leagues at this point, as the seam-stretching tight end is among the conference's best big-play threats at the position.

Malcolm Johnson

Mississippi State's Johnson Quiet

News: Malcolm Johnson caught a 13-yard pass against Alabama on Saturday.
Analysis: Malcolm Johnson appears to be tied with or behind Marcus Green on the depth chart, so he's only an SEC-only league consideration for the time being.

Mississippi State's Johnson Shines In Debut

News: Malcolm Johnson (pectoral) caught two passes for 34 yards and a touchdown against Tennessee on Saturday.
Analysis: Malcolm Johnson made his 2012 debut Saturday after previously missing time with a pectoral injury. Marcus Green figures to steal a lot of targets, but Johnson is a player to monitor, because his role should grow as time passes. He's much more explosive than Green.

Johnson Back In Practice For Mississippi State

News: Malcolm Johnson (pectoral) practiced in a limited capacity Tuesday, the Jackson Clarion-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Considering Mississippi State has a bye this week, Malcolm Johnson appears to have a very good shot to play against Kentucky on Oct. 6. The former wideout had very good reviews for his spring performances and expectations are high for Johnson, who is expected to stretch the field despite his tight end designation. Marcus Green's days as starter could be over.

Mississippi State's Johnson Out At Least Two Games

News: Malcolm Johnson (pectoral injury) will miss at least two games, the Jackson Clarion-Ledger reports.
Analysis: It's definitely bad news for the Mississippi State passing game, and makes Malcolm Johnson's fantasy potential very blurry. Hopefully he won't miss more than two games, but there's no guarantee that he'll be back by then.

Mississippi State TE Johnson Injured

News: Malcolm Johnson suffered an undisclosed off-the-field injury, the Jackson Clarion-Ledger reports.
Analysis: The school sent out an official release on the news, and it seems like something that wouldn't be done unless the injury were notable in some way. Sixth-year tight end Marcus Green could be in for a significant role this year after all.

MSU suspends 5 for opener

News: Mississippi State has suspended five players including defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, quarterback Dylan Favre and tight end Malcolm Johnson, offensive tackle Blaine Clausell and linebacker Chris Hughes for the season opener against Memphis for a violation of team rules.
Analysis: Losing these guys would hurt if it weren't against Memphis.

Boise RB Malcolm Johnson out for season

News: Boise State running back Malcolm Johnson will miss the season after tearing his ACL in Sunday's practice.
Analysis: Johnson was expected to serve as the team's number three back, and as The Idaho Statesmen reports, this one is especially tough as he had made some very nice strides during camp.

Former top recruit back as a walk-on

News: It has been a long strange trip for Boise State walk-on running back Malcolm Johnson. A highly-sought recruit in 2009, he was suspended for the 2010 Fiesta Bowl and didn't work with the team during the fall. He was ruled academically ineligible and went back to Oregon to go to junior college.
Analysis: Johnson rushed for nearly 7,000 yards as a high-schooler, but is returning to Boise State as a walk-on and will be part of a backfield with only four scholarship players, Doug Martin, D.J. Harper, Raphiel Lambert and Jay Ajayi. At this point, it's about Johnson working his way back into the program.
