News:Corey (Philly) Brown caught four passes for 79 yards and a touchdown Saturday against Illinois.
Analysis:Corey (Philly) Brown has been very consistent this season as he continues to pile up receptions in the Buckeyes' offense.
News:Corey (Philly) Brown racked up 12 receptions for 84 yards Saturday as Ohio State won 17-16 at Michigan State.
Analysis: With quarterback Braxton Miller completing just 16 passes, Corey (Philly) Brown was the primary dump off for Miller in the face of a tough Spartans defensive front. Since Brown had just 20 catches entering the contest, his output Saturday appears to be an outlier. However, we'll monitor his performance going forward to see if he in fact takes on a larger portion of the passing attack.
News: Ohio State receiver Corey Brown (ankle) did not travel with the team to Purdue.
Analysis: With little depth at receiver look for the Buckeyes to rely even more on the ground game.
News: Ohio State wide receiver Verlon Reed tore his ACL during an onside kick attempt last week, and with DeVier Posey's future in limbo, the Buckeyes are razor thin at the position.
Analysis: The only good news is that Corey Brown will return this week, but he has not been a factor even when healthy. Even tight end Jake Stoneburner has been rendered fantasy useless.
News: Ohio State wide receiver Corey Brown, out last week with a left ankle injury, has a 50/50 chance of playing against Colorado.
Analysis: Brown should not be on your fantasy radar, plain and simple.
News: Ohio State wide receiver Corey Brown is doubtful for the Miami game with a left ankle injury.
Analysis: Brown has had little to no production for the Buckeyes through two games and shouldn't be on your radar at this point. Tight End Jake Stoneburner should continue to be the top option in the passing game.
News: Ohio State wide receiver Corey Brown is impressing his coaches and teammates in practice as he looks to start the season as the Buckeyes' number one receiver.
Analysis: Brown is immensely talented but had problems holding on to the ball last year. If he's over the "drops", he could play a huge part in the Ohio State offense.
News: Ohio State wide receivers Corey Brown, Chris Fields, and Verlon Reed are expected to be the starters when the season begins.
Analysis: To me, the guy to watch here is Chris Fields, who will be stepping in for Dane Sanzenbacher. However, both Brown and Reed have big play ability. Both Fields and Brown are late round target gambles in BCS leagues with upside.
News: Earlier this April former Ohio State wide receiver James Jackson transferred from the school and has headed to Division II powerhouse Grand Valley State. Jackson will be eligible to play this year and will have three remaining years.
Analysis: With DeVier Posey serving a five-game suspension, the next leading wide receiver for the Buckeyes is Corey Brown, who had just seven catches in 2010. Jackson's field stretching ability will certainly be missed in Columbus.
