News: Wyoming freshman running back Kody Sutton had his redshirt pulled a week ago and then delivered some solid production as the backup to Alvester Alexander. Sutton rushed for 56 yards on 11 carries against Air Force in his first live game.
Analysis: While Alexander will get the majority of carries, expect Sutton to be involved in the action to the tune of 8-to-12 touches per game. He demonstrated against Air Force that he's got the talent to contribute.
News: With fellow running back Ghaali Muhammad lost for the season, Kody Sutton had his redshirt taken off and will be available to play in the coming game. Coach Dave Christensen likes to have three running backs available.
Analysis: Sutton could actually get some touches given that Brandon Miller is splitting out in a wide receiver position more and more. That leaves Alvester Alexander as the prime running back many times.
News: Wyoming running back Brandon Miller has been the team's top back during its two scrimmages, producing 146 yards, two scores and team-leading 7.7 ypc average. He's battling veteran Alvester Alexander (104-3) and Kody Sutton (114-0).
Analysis: In the end, you'd expect Alexander to make a push to be the guy, but it's clear that Wyoming will have some options in the backfield this year.
News: Wyoming running back Brandon Miller had the best day of the running backs in the team's second scrimmage, rambling for 99 yards on nine carries. He also had the day's biggest play on the ground, a 53-yard rumble.
Analysis: Miller, Alvester Alexander and Kody Sutton are all battling for reps, with each one having his good days. This is one of the more interesting battles in Wyoming's camp.
News: Wyoming true freshman running back Kody Sutton opened some eyes during Tuesday's scrimmage, leading the way with 74 yards on 13 carries. Sutton is a squat, compact runner with good feet and is hard to get a handle on.
Analysis: Sutton ran with all three offensive units, but certainly thrust his name into the mix with his performance Tuesday. We'll see what he does Friday to make any definitive guesses about what his situation might be. On Tuesday, however, he looked the part of productive Div. 1 running back.
