News: With starting quarterback B.J. Daniels (hamstring) sitting out the first scrimmage of fall camp, USF backups Bobby Eveld and Matt Floyd had a greater opportunity to earn the number two spot on the depth chart. Both Floyd (18-25, 161 yards 1 TD) and Eveld (12-10, 150 yards) were solid, meaning that nothing has been decided yet.
Analysis: It's a bonus for USF that both have taken advantage of the increased reps due to Daniels' injury. This should serve the Bulls well as the season wears on, should their starter go down.
News: Of course no team wants its' starting quarterback sidelined due to injury, but when it happens at this stage in the season a silver lining can be found. And that's exactly what USF is doing with B.J. Daniels dealing with his hamstring issue. Backups Bobby Eveld and true freshman Matt Floyd are getting more reps as a result, and that can only benefit the Bulls going forward.
Analysis: As mentioned before Eveld has game experience at USF, but work in these situations (he against the ones and Floyd taking on the twos) should better prepare both should they need to take the field in a game.
