Wisconsin's Gordon Impressive with Larger Role

News: Melvin Gordon rushed eight times for 112 yards (14.0 YPC) and a touchdown as Wisconsin sidestepped UTEP, 37-26, on Saturday.
Analysis: After Montee Ball left in the second quarter with an apparent head "issue," which is code word for a concussion, James White took over as the primary back with Melvin Gordon manning the No. 2 role. Considering it would mark Ball's second concussion in as many months, Gordon is set to earn a larger share of the carries if Ball in fact misses any time following his current ailment. Gordon looked quite electric in his new gig and will be one to watch over the next few weeks.

Badger Melvin Gordon will redshirt

News: Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon will take a medical redshirt due to a groin injury that has kept him on the shelf for much of the season.
Analysis: This is good news (well, except for the hurt groin thing) as Gordon has all the makings of following in the footsteps of great Badger backs. Depending on what happens with Montee Ball, who could declare early, Gordon could make a big splash as early as 2012.
